Review Kamat's Green House - Lonavala

mistyrahul1
4 star is due to high price less quantity.otherwise everything is nice service is quick, you will not have to wait for long. Quality is good.ambience and location is also nice. I haven't seen anything bad about this place except the price and quantity. Bought roti and malai kofta.. they took 10 minutes to prepare the lunch

very Authentic South Indian dishes , Quick Service, quite place , CAR parking and good location.
Saravanan MN
Buzzing place with good spread of snacks and good halting point on way to Lonavla. Was amazed at the response of one of the waiters, who we asked for spoons n he simply said - I don't have it. We laughed so much at his response!
Khushboo Tharwani
Love the food here The vada is exceptionally good Do try their North Indian and South Indian as well We went for paneer burji it was so so so yummy and so well made and even the tandoori roti so well cooked Our go to place in Lonavla despite of all the fancy restaurants we prefer it here since years So looking forward to coming again

Age old favourite for traveller's on the old Mumbai Pune road, Good fresh food staple and cheap, All in all a nice place if you want to keep it light. Famous pit stop for bikers on weekends
Videep Desai
The food is decent. The service is good. Could have been more proactive but ok. Ambience is also good. Overall it's good for a meal. They have plenty of seating and parking.
Rahul uttekar
One of the famous hotel in Lonavala. Do visit this place and enjoy the delicious food.
Vishwanath Namjoshi
Testy Batata wada served here with curd Chatani but nowadays they stop it to give we always take the chance to visit

Had a Breakfast in the morning. Food was Excellent and delicious and the service was also great and quick. Quite a good options to choose from and hygienic too.
Muzaffar Ganja
The food was not as we expected it to be. You can halt here for a quick break if you are travelling from a far distance, however I’ll suggest to check for snacks here that too not in volume.
Wayne Camilo
Make sure to have cash. Sometimes the Service people are rude but the food is good. Must visit for breakfast

Mostly a quick stop for breakfast rides to lonavala .... But the place is dropping the standarts ... the food , price , hygiene , staff all are worsening day by day ...Was a good place before
KHUSHROO PANTHAKY
The food is not upto the mark. The hygiene levels have fallen. Rice was half cooked and Daal was very oily. Dosa too was not good. Am very surprised that once a good restaurant has turned v disappointing.
Abhijeet Ghosh
Wow wow wow, what a great place. Loved it. Food is good here. A must place to visit, when you are in lonavala.

Kamats has been a compulsory stop for people traveling from pune mumbai highway. The ambience is simple but the food is appealing. South Indian snacks like dosas and idlis are must have. Quick service is usp of restaurant. It has been around for years but Everytime seems to be same. Recently had lunch with veg kolhapuri and butter roti. As usual the winner is food.
Puneet Karmarkar
Good place for a quick halt and south indian snacks. You get true south flavour. However the property is run down now a days and needs a refurbishment badly. However their location is the winner. Washrooms are ok types. But food quality is just awesome.

Ambience: 2.5/5
Service: 4/5
Food: 4/5

Kamats is a MANDATORY visit on the way to Lonavala/Pune/Mahableshwar since years. The place has changed one bit.

Our order is also always more less fixed:

Batata vada (which they serve with a very different chutney)

Mysore Dosa

Masala Dosa

Filter coffee

Also occasionally idli, missal and sabudana khichdi

The ambience is basic but the service is quick.

I stopped at this place on my way to Lonavala. It's a small restaurant and one can find parking easily. It's just like any other normal joint, but there is no washroom available which is a let down.

I went for idli, Vada, sada dosa, toast butter and filter coffee. The food was decent, but the chutney was sweet for some strange reason. The prices are a little bit on the higher side compared to the taste and quality, but it's still good.
Ernest Dsouza
I have been going to this place for a few years now. We go for bike rides and this is a very popular stop breakfast for bikers on their way to Lonavla and Pune route. We generally prefer tea or coffee but if we are hungry we go for South Indian dishes like dosas and vadas. The food is not that great it's the location that counts in it's favor. Overall a okay experience nothing great.

The Green House in Lonavla is a must visit breakfast restaurant. All dishes are freshly made and packed with wholesome flavours.

We ordered Sada Dosa, Mysore Masala Dosa, Idli-Sambar and Vada-Sambar. The Sada Dosa was crispy and tasty while the Mysore Masala Dosa was good if not great.

The best of all was the Vada-Sambar. It was light, fluffy, tasty and delicious. The Idli-Sambar could've been made better as it was slightly dry.

Overall, the breakfast was fabulous and the prices are reasonable

When we think of the monsoon only one thing comes in mind of every mumbaikar !!!!!!!!!!!! LONAVALA !!!!!!!!!!. the nearest hillstation to enjoy the monsson for mumbaikars is lonavala.

I have been eating at kamats green since the past 25 years now. We make it a point to visit the place atleast once every monsoon.

They have a seating capacity of close to 70-80 people.

We ordered vada pav that was served with their trademark red masala and sweet chutney and some yogurt along with a cup of filter coffee.

Damages to the pocket - Rs 150 ( US $ approx 2.15 )

Overall experience - awesome taste , good service . I would rate this place 3.5 on 5
Nikhil Kamath
Very Disappointed. It was once a good pit stop, now rude staff & Mediocre food. Totally overrated. Bringing shame to the Kamat name. I would rather eat from a street side vendor on the opposite side of the road.

Hi all,

Welcome back to the food review everybody i hope you all are doing absolutely fine.
Last weekend i had gone to khandala with my office friends and while roaming around we felt hungry and we landed at kamat hotel.

First and foremost they dont accept card so make sure you have cash in hand.
Secondly they serve the traditonal mangalore style chutni and sambhar so if you like that preparation you are at the right place.

Rava sada dosa:-
I ordered 2 of these as it was so nice and crisp and went well with the coconut chatni and sambhar.
The dosa takes time but its made really good.
Must try if you are there.

Idli vada sambhar:-
They also serve good idli and medu wada with chatni sambhar served on the top.The soft idli and medu vada are exactly the right combination you need for good evening snacks.

Verdict:-

The place is very good for south indian snacks and also the price is good considering its on the highway.
Obviously tried snacks only so will need to check the other items when i visit next time.
Overall its a good place to have good food.

Just entered Lonavala and was super hungry have always seen this place but this time stopped by and to my surprise it was a nice and warm place open but shelter at the same time. The food was amazing had medu vada idli and the masala chai refreshed me. The staff was warm and quickly served. Def a place to just drop by for some quick food
Tanmayketkar
I visited the place today. The food is not great its just like any other south indian joint around the corner. The staff is arrogant. Plz keep your self respect outside before entering. Importantly they don accept card payment. Honestly the place is not worth leaving expressway, instead go ahead to some nice place.
Abhijit Shenoy
Had a very unhealthy experience. The place was reeking of garbage and foul smell. The place had not been swept for days. When enquired with the staff, we were told that there was staff shortage and hence the place was not swept or cleaned for a couple of days. It’s sad, as the place has good food and is a great stopover enroute to Pune. But will want to avoid due to the uncleanliness,
SW
They charge Rs30 for a bottle of water that clearly shows MRP Rs19/-. When I asked the person making the bills why, he replied "it's been like that since years". A restaurant that so openly breaks rules of retail sales and displays complete disregard for consumer rights will obviously not care much about hygiene rules and kitchen rules either.
Makarand Mhatre
Worst Food!! Being Sunday the pav bhaji, dosa, chole bature were tasteless. Better start serving Gujarati food and change the hotel name to Kamat Gujrathiwale.. The entire food was sweet and tasteless.. The waiters don't have any courtesy.. When asked about the taste the waiter replied that we have served more than 200 plates today.. The eating environment is pretty unhygienic.. no cleanliness at all.. The waiters here are abusive.. totally frustrated.. Just have a look at the plate condition used to serve pav bhaji.. the plates served in jail are much better in condition.. Disappointed and its total hopelessness under the big brand name 'Kamat'

I was on a bike ride to lonavla and was hungry. Trusting kamat we went to this place and spoiled the mood of my ride. Pathetic service as well as food. You will get semi cooked vegetables, harsh language of waiters and a good bill nothing else.
Karan Patil
If you want to spoil your mood visit this place. Just terrible service. I don't write reviews regularly but this was something very disappointing so I had to write one.
Rahul Gawde
hopeless service, abusive and harsh waiters, terible food.
we asked the waiter atleast three times for sauses and finger bowl and he was least intrested to serve.
*DO NOT VISIT*
Abdul Basit
While we're on our bikes Riding we usually stop here only for a small Chai break.
Was in a car this time and waited because there's ample of space for parking. But disappointed with the medu vada they served which was way too oily. It didn't really taste well, also the sambar tasted more like DAL than SAMBAR.
Motographer03
Visited this place for my lavasa ride. Location is good. Parking facility is good. I have ordered misal paw, batata vada & dosa. Good place for breakfast 😊✌🏻

The must halt place for breakfast when traveling from Mumbai to Pune via expressway.

Usually, prefer to order for South Indian food here and it is usually super quick and makes for a yum breakfast. This time ordered the famous batata wada and simple poha. Both were delicious and well prepared.

Well, we also ordered an onion rawa sada dosa which was disappointing – it was too crispy, too thin and was not even hot when served. Chutney and sambhar made possible to finish it.

A reasonably priced place for a quick bite!
Surendra Lavate
While travelling from Mumbai to Pune, after taking first Lonavala Expressway exit you will reach Kamat’s Green House within two odd minutes. So, with such strategic location it’s no wonder this restaurant gets good amount of foot fall. But even with such a great location I would recommend you skip this one. Overall experience was below par. There should be a mechanism that is more stringent to ensure quality and customer service if its franchisee. Situation looks even worse if its run by Kamat’s. I could not figure out if its self-run restaurantor its franchisee of famous Kamat’s chain of restaurants.
Kevil Patrawala
Thus place is for people who really love un heagenic food. Servuce is good...you will find definitely some insects in your food. So please check before eating. As i had ordered Batata wada samber got two.flies in it left the food and never visited then. Please check the food before eating

We always try to take a stop over at Kamat in Khandala during our bombay pune trips.
The batata wada is to die for. A perfect combination with the idli chutney and the dahi chutney.
Then follows the chola bhatura. Which is perfect.
Ending it with the so refreshing filter coffee.
For years this is the routine and the taste doesn't change one bit.
The place is nicely tucked a bit away from the city and below the flyover.
Shrikant Thegreatindianbhukkad
Kamat's green house restaurant is adjacent to the Lonavala Highway and popular amongst bikers and regular travellers between Mumbai-Pune. The bikers mostly take a pitstop here to get refreshed and continue with the journey.

The restaurant is simple, huge and overpriced. I understand is it situated at the prime location of Lonavala and tourist places are always expensive; however, they should not compromise in quality and quantity. This is an example of overhyped place.

Taste: 2.5/5
Service: 4/5
Ambience: 3/5
Value for money: 2.5/5

When I was looking for VFM restaurant one of my friends suggested this and we tried it but the VFM thing isn't for this one.

kamat is a huge restaurant which serves lots of items but it's not reasonable at all. We especially went for their american shev puri and wada. I liked american shev puri but the canopy used wasn't fresh and it disappointed us.The wada which we ordered first was slightly undercooked but the next batch we got was perfect. I loved the wada which I'll recommend to everyone.

As I was looking for VFM option it's not what I expected. The food is good not best but the price they charge is too much. I'll suggest this to one-time visit type of restaurant. Service was prompt and restaurant is clean.

Decent place for the harried lot that travels on this busy stretch of highway. Bare basic ambiance, service is quick but the items are a tad pricey for the environment and facilities. Tried the following:
Paper Dosa - 3.5/5
Good bet most of the times, ideal for 2-3 people to have together. Sambar & coconut chutney accompanied were decent.
Vada Pav - 3.5/5
Thankfully the vada was mildly spiced, devoid of turmeric color, just plain mashed potato with sprinkling of coriander and mild chilies. They were lovely & hot. Bread provided is the typical artificial & chemical variety. Accompaniments were the red colored besan bits that are the rejects of the vada's batter, a garlic laced sweet sour watery chutney and sweet curd.

Simple ambience but fantastic food. Mysore masala dosa and Pav bhaji, do try if you are a fan of it. Loads of ghee and butter you can expect in it. Served hot and very quick service. Closely located to the Mumbai Pune expressway, easily accessible. Parking available too.

Had a visit to the restaurant at 5th Nov 2017
-Ordered 3 Onion Uttapaas, a Sada Dosa, and a Masala Dosa.

-Sada Dosa and Masala Dosa were Nice. Great taste.

-Onion Uttapaas took a long time for preparation but were amazing to taste.

-The coconut chutney was awesome! Perfect prepared. Sambar was also good.

-The place is there on left side as you enter the lonavala after taking exit for Mumbai Pune express way.
-It's a normal restaurant to have quick bite.
-It's a Non AC restaurant, and also a little unhygienic.
-Waiters there don't clean up the table till the other people arrive to sit there.(maybe due to the extra crowd while we visited, but still they could have cleaned it before)
-Also you might get disturbed by the flys irritating you constantly.
-Overall the the experience was good, we had quick snacks and left.
Shankar Balasubramaniam
Kamats food taste seems to have worsened over the years. Food quality is average, quantity is good but taste is average. Service is very fast. Good option for highway travellers as it's close to the highway with clean washrooms and plentiful parking.
Yuvraj
No wonder why people don't come here. Looks extremely sad. Staff is least interested. Food is so so. There are far better options around.

KHIL - With places like Madhogadh, Orchid etc, in their kitty, one seriously wonders, if this place falls under the same management.

I do too, need someone to confirm.

The place is a strict breakfast place, anything else is simply not worth it.

Coming to what's worthwhile, more like, what I found worthwhile, Nothing!

But see, if you are hard pressed for something, you are in a hurry, you are very hungry, what would you do? What would you have??

It's pretty easy, you order, the Batata Wada and the Missal, nothing else, you stray from this, you are on your own.

For a place with a South Indian sounding name, Belgaon, to be exact, they suck at it...

The fare I suggest is what I vouch for, after trying and experimenting, many a times. The chutneys offered with the bata wada are a dream. The Missal, served piping hot is excellent for a refreshing feel.

P.S. IF YOU CAN HOLD YOUR HUNGER HORSES
DO TRY BUA'S MISSAL, the place is worth reigning in your horses
Shekhar Gawde
Kamat group one of the biggest chain of food but its lonavala outlet is not in support of cashless India as no card payment is accepted. I dont understand how such big organisation not in favour of cashless India.
Ruchita S Tanna
We ordered dosas, sandwich, vada pav, grills, etc ! It was good . Can't say excellent. Staff service is commendable . Filter coffee was just perfect .

WORST WORST WORST !!!!

Zomato, please provide minus rating option . I want to rate this hotel at -5 (minus five). Location is good, but this hotel is insulting the location completely. Rates are too high, almost triple than normal rates. Quality and taste is horrible, no hygiene at all, can be compared to a JAIL's kitchen. most imp thing "WE DO NOT ACCEPT CREDIT AND DEBIT CARD", this is how they are contributing to digital india. And if you are having a lunch or dinner with your family of 3 people then expect a bill of atleast 1k - 1.5k, and that too you have to pay by cash. They really don't care about customer Satisfaction, all they want is bill payment.
While having a long journey, washroom is the most imp thing, Customer have to walk for 5 mins to go to washroom, Dirtiest ever i have seen . Yuuuuks feeling!!!!
You will get your order in 2 mins, because everything is already prepared in the morning i guess. Just heat the item and serve .
Nikhil Gattani
menu-not a very exquisite menu, a standard one but exactly what i was looking for as was really hungry and in no mood to experiment
Taste-good and thankfully no surprises, we ordered paneer kofta and paneer tikka masala both were good
Service- staff is not really attentive ...i actually had to ask the staff to take.my orders even though i had occupied the table for 10-15 minutes
Price-reasonable
Vinal Khillare
Don't go there very costly like five star air-conditioning restaurant there is nothing special very very bad experience
Food quality also very bad
Rama Krishna very good
Must visit pav bhaji 100 only very awesome
And Kamat 130 ohhh
Chaitanya S. Thuse
Food quality is very good(Specially South-indian food items). Rates are reasonable. Visit here for Breakfast. Free parking is available. Service is fast.
Anoll Merchaant
The place is worst ,the person on counter has no shame
On Wada sambar plate big price of glass was found and when we brought to there notice they were casual and no sorry feeling
Deepak Singh
Nice place to eat and relax. Next to highway. Ordered a cheese Dosa. Was really good. Have not tried other dishes but love to visit again. Ambience is also OK ........ Have

When you be a Mumbaikar or either Punekar it's obvious you have to go to Lonavala once or maybe twice a month and during rainy season you have to visit on a regular basis. Be it with your friends or family this place never disappoint you. As this place is located in a prime location when you travel from Mumbai this make the Place a trending Craving station in Lonavala. There Misal and vada Pav are amaaazing. Must try for all food lovers

AVOID THIS PLACE EVEN IF YOU HAVE TO STARVE.

Extremely pathetic service. Very average food. Not one good thing to say about our experience.

Chose to drop in here for a quick breakfast on our way to Pune, and here goes my most regrettable experience.
No waiter came in to take our order even after repeated calling. If waiters are bad, the manager is worse. Waiters refused to take our order because "ye mera table nahi hai". Some just turned their pig faces away when called.Took me a good 20 min to get hold of someone, that too only after raising my tone a little. Turns out the waiter for our cursed table was on a leave and no one was appointed. The order was very basic - idli, uttappa, sada dosa, mysore masala dosa, tea coffee. How can one screw up even these basic recipes, well that must be a talent! The chutney was just some tasteless coconut broth. You can dip your idli in this chutney and it will still taste the same. My small request of serving the bhaaji of my mysore masala dosa separately was too difficult to handle. Coffee was watery, too light, and low on sugar. Tea wasn't great too.

After paying the bill, i went up to the manager and told him our experience and that the service sucked, big time. To which he shamelessly replies "Thik hai" 😂😂😂😂 with zero regret whatsoever. I said "aap ka attitude hi aisa hai toh aapke log toh aise honge hi".. again he says "Thik hai". Maybe he took it as a compliment or something i guess 😂

These people maybe think they are going to get customers no matter what shit service and food they give. I request all my fellow foodies to give this place a miss if you don't want to spoil your mood. Do not waste your hard earned money in this shit place with arrogant people. Instead just have a vadapav at stall.

Karthik Lakshminarayan
This is the one stop place for wada pav and a cool drink...some bravehearts try the sabudana wada too but i say go for the one that tugs your heart (literally tugs the arteries with a gastronomical challenge)...other than that they have poha too and misal pav n more to offer which is standard fare but passe i would say
Aditya
After you have seen the beautiful mountains in lonavala and khandala this is a perfect place to relish your taste buds with some wonderful veg food. Though you will not find anything new here but there is everything your stomach needs after that tiring day. There are a lot of restaurants in lonavala but this is right on the highway and has a huge sitting area.
Nikhil Salian
This has been our pitstop for many many years for our travel from Mumbai to Pune, we seem to have the same 1 pitstop strategy for too many years. The ambience of this place is unique, it's open air so you can breathe fresh air and watch your car while you eat !! Just go for vada plate, dosas, Misal pav, chai or coffee. They are typically good at the side dishes. Most of the customers are Mumbai or Pune guys travelling across Lonavala, so eating light dishes is a safe bet. Just refuel your tummy here and head for the finish line !!
Ganesh Kamble
After seeing many bikers stopping at kamat for breakfast, we decided to try this place today. It turns out to be so unorganised plus food quality is not so great. Paid 280 bucks for 2 masala dosa, sabudana wada, mineral water(cant drink regular water here), two chai.
Dosa smelled to much oil n sabudana wada dahi was stale.

Kewal Nagda
A famous highway joint on near khandala. Had been here for late afternoon lunch. Serves pure veg. I had been with a group of 7 friends and had lots of platter to taste from. Tried right from the batata wadas to wada sambhar to sada dosa. I had ordered veg kadhai n butter rotis. Paneer chilli dry as starters. The batata wadas stood out. Tasted awesome with the sweet spicy chutney provided and small bowl of dahi along with it. Service is quick and has huge sitting space. Ambience is not that gr8. The masala papad and chaas is sold at premium price and both of them disappointed. Weren't upto the mark. Overall a typical roadside restro to have ur meal during your commute.
Kushal Sanghvi
Perhaps one of the earliest South Indian restaurants of this city and have been seeing it over the last 35 plus years
At one point it was the best place to get the typical Idli, Wada and more but today also due to new highway that's come up adjacent to it and also the fact that they just haven't been able to maintain it so well at all
Would suggest to give it a miss and it's ideally restricted to the old timers coming here!
Rohan Raut
Very good place to have South Indian breakfast on way to Lonavala. Food quality is good. They even serve misal and batata wada which are popular Maharashtrain dishes. They served a unique tamarind chutney with batata Wada which was quite unique. Loved it
Bhookad Beardo
Good place for a quick halt meal. Being a biker, when we travel to Pune and places beyond and when we pass by Khandala, this is a place we stop by for a quick bite. This is the place we normally stop for our first halt after we start from Mumbai. I'd prefer Idlis and Dosas plus any Tea or Coffee. This place serves good butter nans and a decently good main course. Good and safe for kids considering this is a weekend get away and places accompanied by kids.

Food : 3.5 / 5
Ambience : 2.5 / 5
Service : 3 / 5

Overall : 3.5 / 5
Anahita Irani
A quick halt to grab that batata wada is a good idea. One of the oldest yet famous eating joints at Lonavla is kamat's.
The service is so quick, it actually took less than a trip to the washroom and brisk walk back.
Decent taste n service with a smile. Idli -wada, sambhar - chutney with filter coffee was best options for me.
Re-energized for the trip ahead. It's not very well maintained but hello darling < yeh hai India >
Pranav Karnik
For quick food, this is a very good place to take halt. It's indeed spacious, place for parking. I have been here a couple of times and the quality I have seen is not consistent but even then the service is prompt.

Another thing to note is the washroom. It's in the hotel building which is not operational and is not maintained. So if you are traveling with family and want to take a halt at Lonavala, I would recommend Rama Krishna at the main Lonavala market.
Swapnil Palande
One of d oldest one in khandala. Used to go here when express highway was non. Existent.
Currently I visit it sometimes when I travel mumbai-pune.
The food quality is not upto mark.
It's just good for quick south Indian food.
Service is poor n needs improvement.
Janix
A good place to enjoy south Indian stuff. Other cuisines are average. Filter coffee was very soothing in monsoons. Value for money place. Worth a stop on the way to Lonavala.
Swati Ekbote
We were in @lonavala yesterday and had lunch @kamats green house, ambience is very very bad, chairs table unclean, spoons bad and horrible kitchen we were late n had no time to search another place. Food was good but ambience is horrible. It was a disgrace. When we complained to the @staff they said "kya kare crowd bahut hai". Not recommended.

Hotel chi khilli udvat ahet konitari facebook vr
So plz try to controll ur rates
Take affordable bill bcz everyone not belongs from rich family
Kunal Bhatia☑️
Best ambience during monsoons its spacious and breezy place to eat and chill, food is good and quick ive visited this place multiple times in a week, dosa and potato vada are my picks fresh and hot,the only issue i found could be better is the staff they are pretty unresponsive at times...
S Kiran
The place ambiance is very poor.... in fact the food was ready and made to serve. Nothing special... average taste. I won't recommend it to anyone.
Ayushi Lalwani
Came here thinking it will be a very nice restaurant for jain food but could not believe our eyes..The restaurant is filthy..very very dirty , tissue papers all around, tables not cleaned & the floor is sticky and dirty as if not cleaned since ages..chairs had mosquitoes on them and food..still we managed to sit on a table after cleaning it ourselves and ordered for a sadha dosa and found mosquitoes in it..asked him to change it and found another mosquitoe in it..recommend not to go here even if Ur hungry since morning
Rate this place 0/5 & not 1/5
Yogesh Potdar
Located on the old highway so it easy to access. Decent menu and food is good. Service was ok and needs to be improved. Looking at the price value for money is good.
Neha
Kamat's green house is a place I enjoy coming ...but as it being far from my place I do only come here when I m partying at my lpnavala farmhouse....very nice place
Santosh Garudi
Overprised items, with average quality. Not recommended at all. Instead of this falatu hotel, go to small hotel, atleast you will get good fodd at proper prise.
Mustafa
Have been to this hotel many times but recently was disappointed by the service, food quality is average .was served tea in glass with broken rim, good saw it before drinking ,tea quality worse, left it after first sip.On informing the owner who comes on sat/sun he took least interest and instead of checking he ignored. And they are suppose to be good hotelier .we are regularly going to pune and used to make a halt here but now we will avoid this place.
Chirag Shah
I have never tasted The Batata Vada u get here in Kamaths with different chutney and Curd. Chole bhautra also tastes awesome. Service is ok not great but its fine.
Karan
One of the oldest restaurant in lonavla.. This is the best and also very economical.. Come here on Sunday mornings and you will be lucky to see greatest superbikes.. This restaurant is a general halt for all the bikers who come from Mumbai and from Pune.. From fast food to South Indian and North Indian, you get everything here..
Ashokaholla
Great location on the highway. No wow factor in the food here. Moreover the food is a bit overpriced. I would stick with South Indian food here.
Salil Das
Pretty average food and restaurant. Dunno why people are crazy about the brand name. Did not like at all.And over priced to top it all. Not recommended at all.
Ashay Kully
One of the most authentic restaurant you'll find on Mumbai pune expressway. You'll love it's famous delicacy Kamat's special batata vada. The prices are ok with respect to the quality of food and service offered. The ambience is sober and you'll enjoy having south Indian food and snacks here with your family.

On 15th August, 2 families consist of 7 persons headed towards Lonavala from Mumbai in morning. Due to some landslide at one of tunnel, decided not to have lunch at villa where we booked our stay but to eat something on the way.

I heard a lot about Kamath's food from my friends and colleagues, so tried for lunch. Around 1PM I entered Kamath with fear of not having empty table for 7 persons. Luckily found 2 joint tables with capacity of 12 seating arrangements and I made it reserved by sitting on one of the chair.

Service: Good. Bit slow while delivering order.

Ordered:
1 Mysore masala dosa : Same as masala dosa. Only difference is they applied small amount of red chutney on main layer of dosa batter.
2 Masala dosa: Eatable.
1 Sada dosa: Good crispy
1 Paneer Tikka Masala: Eatable. Looked like they add color in it.
1 Veg Kolhapuri: Green chillies makes it spicy.
1 plate Batata Wada: Eatable, costly compared to other average hotels/local stalls.
1 Veg Toast Sandwich: Not liked. Took long time to make this sandwich, we made it as parcel/take away after so much of waiting. Tasted and thrown outside. Not recommended for those who expect toast sandwich with mashed potato stuffing and vegetables with tasty chutney. Here at Kamath, they just applied green chutney on bread slices and stuffed with cucumber, tomato, onion and slightly heated(not even toasted).

Overall Experience:
Good to have nearby parking space, roadside location, open view.
Slow order processing.

Will I visit this place again?
No. Will look for other options nearby this place.

Review No: 156

Kamat's name has a high recall value. Associated with good fast food and decently prized. There are a chain of Kamat Veg restaurants which you will come across as you traverse Maharashtra by road.

Anyways, the one reviewed today is the one at Lonavala (you will see this when you enter Lonavala when exiting from the Bombay end). We decided to stop over purely because of good past experiences at Kamat's. The place is clean, open and airy. Service was decent inspite of being a busy weekend evening. Few tried and tested dishes to be had are the dosa varieties, idli and wada. Cannot go wrong there. To end the good meal, their coffee was also good.

There is ample parking space. I guess they share the same premise with the Kamat Lodge/Hotel which I guess now is defunct. Parking is not an issue.

I would recommend the place for good food at decent prizes.

Final ratings:

Food: 3/5
Price: 3/5
Service: 3/5
Ambience: 3/5
*****************
Overall: 3/5

One of the oldest stopover for the people travelling from mumbai to pune. One of the iconic place for regular breakfast and snacks throughout the day. The udipi menu is very good and the sambar and chutney along with is also very tasty. Overall the food is nice and tasty. The batata vada specially is very much the same that it tasted some 15 18 years ago. They have a special glasses that they serve the coffee and tea which gives a very irani feel to it. The food is decently priced and the service is also good

Stopped here on the way to Mumbai. Food was ok, ambience was nice and service was very inefficient. Lack of waiters. Overall you get average food here.

Very old hotel located on old mumbai pune highway. Food quality is good. Tourist traveling by old mumbai pune highway must visit this place, peaceful and server good food.

Ambience is certainly not a priority at Kamat's green House and its been like this for atleast 25 Yrs if not more. But yet it remains my favourite stopover for a quick breakfast on route to Poona. The service is prompt and regular Udipi style. My favorites are the Mysore Sada dosa and the Batata Wada...yes the Batata Wada very unusual here mildly spiced and white on the inside, it comes with a unique tangy chutney that is very addictive. The cover is also very light and airy.So much more better than the food mall options on the Mumbai Pune Expressway.

I agree, the ambience is not at all inviting, but they have the most awesome batata wadas ever. Its been a regular breakfast halt over the years. The dosas are good too.

Decent food which has always been the keystone for Kamats. Good location just off the highway...had a rava dosa and a cheese sandwich and both did not dissapoint.

Kamat is a brand. So they never fail to deliver the best. The food is delicious and worth the money. Even simplistic dishes like Pav Bhaji taste so yummy. If you are going on long drives to Khandala-Lonavla from Mumbai and want wholesome, hygienic and delicious food, Kamat is the place to be.

I have been visiting this place since childhood and every time the love for the place grows.. Strictly recommended for the South Indian menu and taste.. Have a quick bite and roll on the highway.. My pick Dahi Vada, Medu Vada, Dosa and toast butter with tea

Loved the place, we were there on the weekend. The place was a bit crowded we had to wait for our turn, however it was worth it. We tried traditional idlis, medu wada and rava masala, each dish was perfectly made. Then we tried the batata wada, very good taste and went very well with the vinegar based chutney, this is the first time I had vinegar chutney and wada, it was awesome. The second must try is the American sev puri, perfectly spiced and crispy. Overall a great place, a must visit if you are in lonavala.

I see lot of cars and imported bike groups, every weekend at this restaurant. I think it the name that attracts people here. And so was I. But I was totally disappointed the moment I entered this place. I am writing this review while having my breakfast here. To start with the staff is not at all friendly. Not a single person working here had a smile on his face. The tables are all sticky and uncleaned unless u ask the staff to do so. Floors were full of used paper tissues. Soft drinks spilled on the floor not cleaned. I ordered for their famous batata wada which was served cold. I didn't have the courage to order any more dishes fearing what I would have to eat.
Please avoid this place, unless its a matter of life and death. Ram Krishna is far more superior.

One of the oldest hotels in Lonavala. Before the expressway was built, this place used to be crowded with tourists. Now with the expressway this place has lost all its customers. But it still is a wonderful place to visit. Food is reasonably priced also tastes good. We had ordered for Roti and Naan along with Paneer Mutter. The Rotis and the Naan had becomea bit soft and cold by the time it reached our table but the sabzi was piping hot and hence it tasted well. All in all a very nice place if you ever visit to Lonavala it is a must try being one of the oldest hotels in Lonavala.

I would definitely agree with Umang, as the potato wada is awesome here. The idli vada sambhar is the most commonly had snack over here, and is decent enough in taste.
Since, it lies close to the Mumbai - Pune expressway, it is swarmed by a lot of people, whenever the buses halt at this location. I had mysore cheese saada as well, which was good in taste. Apart from this, the speed of service is worth appreciating and the prices do justice to the quality of service and food provided here. Good place to have breakfast at.
