Review Shukla Chaat House - Lucknow

Sourav Dan
This chaat house the best aloo tikki chaat I've ever had in my life.. more than anything available here this chaat with dahi and other ingredients is the best and most tasty chaat .. this one of the many places one should visit while in Lucknow. Although there is no parking spot dedicated to this shop.. its better to take uber or rickshaw to reach here but all the hard work pays while having the chaat. If you have your car and want to venture, there is a multi level parking area nearby, park your car there and walk down some 300 to 400 mtrs and reach this place.. a must have chaat.. yummy

Taste is quite good .... chaat and dahi bada are are the highlights of the shop ....you won't be disappointed by the taste .. one of the most preferred choice for evening snacks by the coaching going students in this area ......

The aloo and the mutter tikki were absolutely brilliant . Crispy , hot and well done ! The other chats were ok ( there is a batasha one which I could not try ) opens early evening till about 9:30pm . 🤩 it got very crowded but the gents do an awesome job in completing orders asap

This is the best place to have chaat, golgappe and other snacks. They serve the best matar chat in the whole city and is one of my favourite topped with lemon juice. It is crunchy and full of flavours.they serve golgappe too. This is definitely an iconic place in the streets of Lucknow

Taste of Tikki is so awesome. In first bite will blown my taste and mind Amazing taste

Especially the Pani Batashe here is very good. We went here and love it. Taste is very good and quite different from others.
Shweta Pandey
Quite nice matar chat and alloo chaat in hazartganj. The weather can spoil the Pani puri at times as the puris were soggy. Good street food option.
Anindya Kar
Had so many chaats of different places of LKO, but this is one of the best. Rate is pretty reasonable, 50 for Tikki Chaat and Matar Chaat. Portion is also reasonable, not filling up the plate, unlike other places.
Aman Raj
The taste is good, it’s not like anything unique but price was justified

One of the best street food shops in Lucknow especially in Hazratganj area. it's a famous Chaat shop, Chaat was fantastic and within low budget. Visitors will get varieties of Panipuri and some other eatables.

This Shop is 53 Years Old. This Shop was started in 1968 and they are selling Chaat, Pani Batasha till now. Their specialty is Aloo Chaat, Matar Chaat, Pani Batasha You can eat here. Nice place you can visit At least once. I tried here Aloo Chaat which costs ₹50, it tastes great. I personally loved it, even i saw some dry fruits in the chaat which makes it worth of ₹50. The shop owner said he makes chaat in Desi Ghee that makes the food rich & high quality. Must visit place for everyone. Every lucknowites know this place very well. Visit al least once on my recommendation & you will not be disappointed.

A must visit for all chaat lovers. The servers are prompt and ensure you are handed a serving of your favourite chaat in no time. For street food - one of the best chaat sellers in Lucknow.

The best place to have lip-smacking North-Indian street food. This small roadside joint is a must visit when in Lucknow. This place serves amazing chaats. Tried all the different varieties of chaats and all were great! Reasonably priced. Recommended!

Had this amazing famous Chaat from Shukla Chaat house, church road Lucknow, both aloo chat and matar Chaat were yummy and paani batashas were also quite good.

Amazingly delicious golgappe, aloo tikki and papri chaat. Reminds you of the authentic street chaat. On top of that the golgappas are so light you don't feel full after eating so many. I can definitely visit lucknow again just to eat these

Lucknow is famous for it’s chaat. Shukla Chaat House is the best place for Chaat. Especially Aloo Tikki and Mutter Tikki. They also serve good dhai ballas and pani puri. Worth a visit
Gaurav Chawla
reminiscent of the chaats shukla is a kind of an icon...the taste has deteriorated a bit though... it it is famous for its tikki and matar chaat...quite a mouthful...located conveniently in hazratganj...must eat on your trip...

If you want to have some crispy yumm aloo tikki then this place can be on of the choice

Also pani puri here are good for the ones who love spicy and tangy

Since I have a sweet tooth so it was bit difficult for me to have it

Batashe were crispy
I just feel they can work with a quality of matar use

Once I ordered and matar was some what sour ☹️

Shukla chaat house is another place for the chaat lovers in the city.
This place is highly recommended for chaat.
They serve one of the best chaat in Lucknow
A proper crisp n taste is found.
I love the chaat they serve...
The taste is mouthwatering....
Highly recommended...
One must visit this place
Specially the chaat lovers 🧡

Had ordered 6 single tikki’s and 3 plates of dahi batasha, the amount of meetha dahi sent by them was sufficient for only 3 single tikki’s. We had to manage somehow with that little quantity of meetha dahi. Also the tikki’s were very bland and had gotten cold during transit. Had a below average experience.
Maidan Singh
Another Famous chaat outlet of Lucknow , we ordered mutter chat and Alu Tikki ,
Matar chat was tasty and different from the regular Alu chaat ,
Alu tikki was below average considering the outlet is famous for it chaat .
Still worth a visit for the matar chaat .
Peeyush Jain
Definitely try the Pani puri - very balanced saunth ka pani thats flavourful but not chilli & definitely suits all palates. You might experience a few soggy puris but that’s not regular.

The aloo tikki was super good - crisp and delightful but the overall chaat left a lot to be desired. The dahi could’ve been creamier & colder to support the crisp tikki coming out right out of the pan. A one time try for sure but will keep the hunt for the best on!

There is hardly any space to stand and taking your own car isn’t advisable.

Closing notes - Do visit if you’re in the neighbourhood but nothing like a must-do affair!

This name is very famous for chaat and batashe at Hazratganj and trust me, it comes true to with his name ❤ love the taste 😍

Tikki chaat ₹45 only

Ratng -4.5/5
Jagdeep Sharma
We went to have chat at this place. While ordering , I was shocked to observe hygiene standards here. He is storing eatables right next to and on top of open gutter flowing under his shop. This was an eye opener. Can you even think of dahi , saunth and other eatables being stored on top of a dirty gutter. I wonder why municipality allows such joints to operate. This is a threat to public Health.

Just a roadside stall in hazratganj serving litreally one of the best chaat items in lucknow. If you are a tikki or dahi batasa lover then its a must visit. Its pocket friendly, quick and fast service .. just loved it!!

Papdi chaat was very tasty.
💥 The members were very polite to us..one of them also told us how to eat that.😁.. And golgappe or u can say batashe paani... Was lit💥

Shukla Chaat house is always crowded, even at 8:30 in the evening. Nothing fancy. Just great chat. Pani puri and aloo tikki’s are a must try
Savita Goel
Packing was very worst. quantity n quality of food was nt good . Taste was also nt so good. Disappointed. Total wastage of money. Nt expected
Vishal Mishra
Pani puri is super yuck. Mashed potatoes with no proper masala. Bland food as if you are sick. I m amazed to know this place is one of the top eating point in Lucknow. Simply yuck...!!

Lucknow’s famous Pandit ji ki chat is fomous for it desi ghee made tikki and chat
Located next to cathedral
Its cuisine has the famous ”khatta meetha ” street taste
It's has
Jazeera pani puri
Mattar
And aloo tikki

I will recommend to eat their only
I you parcel it , it doesn’t taste the same
Ayan Ahmad 99
Opens in the evening just behind the cathedral church
I wasn’t expecting sooo damnn taste 🔥
Clean and classy
Just stand and eat
The place just got crowded in a minute which clearly reflects its popularity
Neha Yadav
One of the oldest chaat house of Lucknow which still maintains the quality and trust of the customers. Perfect spicy treat to your taste buds. Perfect combination of spices and other stuff with fried potato. The only drawback is long waiting time due to crowd.
Ritika Kalra
The chaat here is worth every penny! And one must not miss it when in Lucknow.
The matar chaat was absolutely delicious and is like none other with explosion of flavours whilst subtle throughout!
We also relished aloo tikkis which were crisped to perfection and garnished/ doused in chutneys in just the right amount.
Although the place has a cult following, the prices are considerably cost efficient. A definite plus!

Yet another gem in the food lanes of Lucknow is Shukla Chaat House. The place serves chaat and golgappe, known as Bataashe in Lucknow. The place opens in the evening and attracts a large chunk of people in the Ganj area. The place opens in the evening around 5. I ordered Tikki , which was crisp and served with chutney and Dahi bhalle, served with chilled Dahi and a range of chutnies . The taste was good and did not disappointed. The place does not have seating place.

Taste -4/5
Ambience-4/5
Price -4/5

They sent incomplete order

Too bad....

Dahi bada is very bad. Dahi is very sour and contaminated . Such items hamper the health of customers . Much worse than I think. Ask Zomato not to deliver such items . Very disappointed.

One of the best places to have chat in Lucknow. I love the Aalu tikki and Pani ke batashe(gol gappe) here. This place has been serving chat since decades. I would have given 5 stars if this place was a little more hygienic.
Aniqaelahi
Hi ... awesome chaat .... please don't low your quality and taste....Shukla chaat is one of the best hangout children also loved it as it is medium spicy.
One of the renowned and oldest shops in Lucknow serving us from the decades in the heart of the city. This place is known for it's street food. But I feel they should work on their quality. They have downgraded their quality. I tried their Aaloo Tikki at this place after around 5 years but I did not find the taste as it was earlier. Though its a crowded place and they are serving lots of people at a time but they should maintain their quality as well. The prices are somewhat similar as compared to the other places.
This place is not a highly recommended one from my end. And if you visit their do let me know your experiences.

Old is gold! Thid chaat house has amazing and mouth watering chaat. Dahi ke golgappe are amzing and try tikki as well.Good place to get your chaat and one of the speciality of lucknow.Must try!

After trying out the non vegetarian delicacies of Lucknow and having spent the evening at Imam Bara, we(I along with my friends) were looking to try out some snacks for the evening. I had heard a lot about Shukla Chaat House from fellow foodies on Instagram and we headed straight to Hazratganj from Imam Bara. After all, what better choice for snacks than Chaat, when in Lucknow.

It was around 6.30 in the evening when we reached there and the shop was moderately crowded. We started with GolGappe. The jaljeera used in Golgappe was extremely salty and had no other flavor whatsoever. They had a pretty disappointing taste and I couldn't have more than two. Next was 4 plates of Tikki, one for each of us. The tikki was served hot and crisp topped with dahi, saunth(sweet chutney), mint chutney, coriander and potato flakes. The best thing I like about Chaat at most place in UP is that they top it with crispy potato flakes which take the taste to a whole new level. The saunth had brilliant flavors. It was the best Tikki I have had until then. Lastly, I tried one plate of Matar Chaat. It was prepared in the same way as the Tikki. The matar contained too much of Garam Masala and lacked a certain freshness. The texture was a bit dry and they ruined all the impression that Tikki had left on my taste buds. It was just inedible and I couldn't eat more than one bite.

Bottom line is if you ever visit this shop do try out the Tikki but please refrain from having anything else on the menu. I wonder how one dish at a shop can stand out so extraordinarily while other dishes don't even make upto an average taste.

Shukla Chaat House is quite popular in Ganj area. We tried their famous matar ki chat, which is something very unique to Lucknow. The matar tikki was quite yummy and so was the chaat prepared with it. Even the alu tikki and other chat items looked yummy. If you are visiting Hazratganj area and are fond of chats, I do recommend this place.
Paulami Dey
Small place at Hasratganz. But it serves delicious Alu tikki chat. Along with Alu tikki chat, we also had dahi bhale which was also very tasty.
Deepak Singh DK
It is one of the oldest shop in Lucknow. If you love simple chaat this is the place for you . Rates are reasonable . It gives you the proper feel of street food as it has no sitting facility.
Rama Moondra
A tiny weeny setup in hazratgunge. Funny and surprisingly served and cooked by all bald men.

We ate golgappe..which were okayish. The absolutely mind blowing chaat here is matar. Ragda mashed up and roasted with generous dollop of ghee . Actually you gotta be a braveheart to see that much of ghee and eat it guiltless. Ask for alu tiki and Dahi topped with imli chutney...its out of the world.

Try to go by 5ish. After 7 PM they are jam packed and mostly closed by 8.30ish.
The Candid Duo
Ok so I had this gol gappe and tikki from this very famous place for the first time but believe me this is surely not worth the hype😞
Gol gappe were not crisp enough to even retain the state till the time I clicked a picture of it.
Tikki was crisp neither, no taste in chutney or dahi.

They surely need to work a lot rather than just enjoying the fame of their name
Mukesh Raj Purohit
As we all know Lucknow is famous for chaat. This is proved by Shukla ji. One of the best place to eat chaat, taste, quality and yes behaviour of staff was commendable. Must recommend to all.
Akash
Ambience: Modest outdoor setting. Street food at its best.

Service: Quick.

Food: This place is nirvana for chaat lovers. Go there for aloo tiki; dahi puri and you’re sure to experience heavenly taste.
If in Lucknow don’t miss it.

Revisit: Yes; yes; yes
Saman Ishtiaq
The chat is awsome and the service is also very good.. I have ordered from Shukla chat many times and I have also tried many other chats but this is best..
Shivani Mishra
Delicious chaat as always. Have been coming here for over 10 years now. However, going here as an adult, I can certainly notice that hygiene standards might not necessarily be strictly abided by.
Harday Gupta
I went Lucknow for my official work, post getting free from daylong meetings I asked driver to take me to a place where I can get authentic taste of Gol gappe (patashe) and chat. We traveled 28km and reached to Shukla Chat House.

The taste was amazing, I never had so tasty Golgappe in my life. The small shop have 7-8 employees and everyone was so polite and helpful.
I also had tikki and it was crunchy and a real treat to my taste buds.

If you are really looking for an authentic chat in Lucknow, go and try this. You will definitely gonna like the taste.

Cheers!!

Lucknow is special for many reasons, food being one of the key ones. Not only is awadhi cuisine worth your attention, the chaat is worth dying for.

Golgappe, panipuri is known as patashe in this part of the country. Do try the matar here, which is a speciality in Lucknow chaat. Matar is kind of a tikki made of matar and fried/ baked, very different from what we're used to.

Have to try the other chaat places in Lucknow.
Udbhav
This is one old chat house of Lucknow. By looks it appears to be actually very old. The utensils used are very old i guess. U have to stand on road and eat chaat. No seating available. Now coming to the taste, the chaat is good. The matar chaat is also very good in taste. Pani ke batashe are very crispy and tasty. Overall a good experience.
Ashoka
This is one of the best places in Lucknow for chaat. Their aloo tikki and paani ke bataashe are heavenly. All the items are very good and it's seriously tough to chose one ! In my opinion, it's one of the iconic places and a must-visit for those who visit Lucknow for the first time and want a good gourmet experience.
Ibad Hanif
The myth that lucknow has only non veg food is broken yet again by this eating joint.
Ganj - is a foodies paradise and any person who claims to be a foodie should spend at least 72 hours here and more nond u he wud’nt be disappointed.

The place is just off the main toad and has a huge fan following.
This is a stand and eat kinda place so no ambience - the service is that u need to be audible to shukla ji so that he can pass the grub to u.
The taste is a little on the lower side. Personally I felt let down have eaten far better chaat at Jagdish in chowk or even royal cafe in ganj.

The verdict
Indifferent.
Om Awasthi
I found this on google search as best chaat in Lucknow .. I tried pani puri which was not so good . I also tried tiki they made it extra sweet .
They also did not serve onion .. what !!!! .. how can you not have onion on chaat place ..
Not a good experience
Pradeep
gud food
The World On Plate
Shukla chaat is by far one of the best chaat spot in Lucknow. Serving from years they have Maintained taste very well.
Every stufg they provide is amazing.
I had aloo tikki which was amazing in taste.
Location is good. Can't judge the ambience as it is an street side stall.
Usually the place is crowded bt they manage to do service on time.
Sakshi Shandilya
Hey I had multiple items from here n all r good.Dahi batasha is 4 of 35 rs which ka not worthy at all. Taste is okay kind of as it's similar to everywhere taste.not extra ordinary but rate is higher as compared and at some points quantity is lesser. But u won't feel taste neglected.
Ritu Tandon Sah
Lucknow serves amazing chat ... Shukla chat is an old timer and has been serving good stuff for a very long time. Location is great and food good. We had Aloo tiki, dahi datasa and Pani puri all very good.
Rahul Dhawan
Very good chaat. Been here many times and always the taste is perfect. They have many varieties of chaat and all of them are delicious. Certainly the best chaat in Lucknow.
Kahkashan Moheet
I can’t define my love for chaat ❤️and when it comes to taste , no one can beat Shukla’s chaat .... I can’t tell u that while writing this review I hv started craving for that 🤤..... Tikkis are perfectly cooked and the taste is outstanding ... u can’t get place to sit but can enjoy ur chaat with the crowd ..... best place to have chaat
⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Sakshi Shandilya
Chaat is a chaat .. But to try some goodness of taste just switch to shukla chaat house .. either Golgappa or chaat both are nice.. If want to try matar chaat go for it but remember its not like aaloo tikki chaat but quite different.. Matar ki tikki with jest if lemon 🍋 to engance the taste & done .
Shashank Shukla
This is the only Chaat stall I prefer going to whenever I crave for chaat. Perfect crisp of the chaat and its taste is heavenly. It is a very small outlet but from the crowd present there one can conclude why it is the favourite place for people in lucknow for a plate of chaat.
Confessionsofatravellerr
love this place and the chaat. i personally love their matar chaat, it is crispy, spicy and refreshing and something different from the regular aloo, dahi, chutney chaat, which is pretty good too. if you're in lucknow, the matar chaat from shukla chaat house is a must.
Ghumakkad Gastronaut
Lucknow is not all about non-veg food, you can find chaat bhandar in every alley of it, & then you
find Shukla Chaat bhandar in Hazratganj.
When you visit them, do try their pani batashe & crispy aloo tikki. Pani batashe will be slightly spicy, but it all worth it.
Archita Rai
When at Hazratganj, this is the second best place to have gol gappas and aloo tikkis. The shop is very old and small, still you'll have to queue up for your number. The tastes are flavoursome.
Dee (Gastronauts' Den)
Their Aloo Tikki Chat is what makes me visit them everytime I am in town. Just that you have to tell them to squeeze less lemon if you don't want that sour taste. The Tikki is properly toasted and is super crispy. Paani Puri is good although if you are a hygiene freak, you would refrain because they do not wear gloves while filling the Puris with Paani.

There is no seating arrangement here and because of the Metro construction work going on, the place is very dusty.

Food (Taste) - 4/5
Value for money - 3.5/5
Service - 3.5/5
On my 'Visit Again' list - Yes, for the love of their Chats.
Riya Jain
Amazing chaat . Price is cheap. One of the best chaats of Lucknow. You can sit in your car and enjoy chaat in a dona. Paani batashe are extremely good, matar and tiki are also very good. It's near Saint Francis. It opens mostly in the evening perhaps.
Rohan Passi
Located - hazratganj
Tried aloo tikki
Good and delicious @ Rs40 only
It is a Small shop that serves delicious Chaat
Parking problem due to metro construction
Must visit 💯
The Crab
The chaat is good but the pricing is also on the higher side, as the place has zero ambience .
The staff needs to be more customer centric as they hospitality.
It's difficult to find a place to stand as it's very crowded.
Jaya
Yesterday I went there to have a tikki chaat. I have heard a lot about shukla chaat. So I went there. Tikki Chaat was superb less spicy, tasty, good quantity overall I loved it!!!! Will visit again!!! Best Chaat in lucknow.
Sakshi Mishra
This shop is very nice. I went there in festival of Christmas. There was no shop was open only this was there so I went there and had a nice tikki and Panipuri
Live To Eat
I decided to go on Lucknow food walk on my first visit to Lucknow and Shukla Chaat house was the first exploration. The street food vendor sells golgappe, Aloo tikki etc. I
Swear I have never had this version of golgappe before in my life. I can never forget the taste of yummy Pani Batasha aka Pani Puri. It just magically melts inside your mouth. Dont miss visiting this golgappe wale bhaiya whenever you are in Lucknow.
Ayush Dixit
Shuklajee is legacy of Lucknow ❤️
Paani they provide for golgappey is outstanding and I really mean it and the aloo tikki is just perfect, crunchy from the outside and soft from outside.
The golgappey are a little bit costly ₹15 for 5 pieces and ₹40 for aloo tikki but the quality they provide is excellent so it's worth it !
Harshita Rana
A small shop in hazratganj which is really famous for it's chaat. Visited today in evening and i am totally bowled by the flavours of chaat and pani puri.👍
Had aloo tikki chaat, papri chaat, and pani batasha.
Aloo tikki- crunchy from outside and soft from inside. Tasted really amazing.
Papri chaat- the only drawback was it was not hot.
Pani puri batashe- ₹15 pe 5 badi nainsaffi hai😐
Because the pani was really outstanding!
Half plate chaat is for₹25 and full plate is for ₹40
They also have dahi bada.
All in all can visit if you are up for having good chaat in the evening.😊

Satpreet Chelawat
Best Aloo tikki that I have had in the city!! Ensure I visit this small yet awesome place every time I am in Lucknow... The Paani puri is very nice too...

Aviral Singh
One of the best aloo tikki in the country...and definitely in lucknow...perfect valance of chutneys, fahi and spices. The aloo tikki..crispy outside crust and warm and gooey from inside..just amazing. Pani puri was really good too.
Abhishek Bisen
If you want to show someone why the chaat of Lucknow is so famous, you must bring him/her to this place. You can try anything here, be it Pani batashe, aloo chaat, papdi chaat, Dahi wale batashe..anything! Everything just tastes perfect. It just has the proper amount of spicy ingredients to suit your liking. This place is a must visit for any food junkie. It never disappoints.
Priyal Trivedi
Imagine: A hot crispy tikki made in ghee loaded with spicy mutter and dollops of chilled sweet curd along with coriander and chutneys. Yes, now welcome to Shukla Chaat house. This is what they serve, actually it's better!

It's a small shop located in Hazratganj, that brings to you the perfect version of the famous northern Aloo tikki. Do visit the place if you are a chat fan (and even if you aren't! ).
Bushra Hasan
Tried chaat here for the first time and was bowled over!
Y did not i come here earlier? Located at Hazratganj, its amongst a very popular street food place.
Tried the batashe and aloo tikki. The pani batasha served was spicy... Really spicy bt very flavourful . The aloo tikki had a very crispy outer and super soft mashed aloo inside.
Alekhya Tadasina
Chaat is pretty famous in lucknow, and Shukla Chaat was a name that suggested to us by a lot of people. We tried the pani batashe(pani puri), the aloo tikki chaat and the papdi chaat. The pani puri was'nt that great and I have certainly had better pani puri. The aloo tikki chaat was pretty good, but the papdi chaat was the best.
Altaf Akhai
When I wanted to visit Lucknow, I was sure about what things I have to eat and where will I get those. I was new to the area, so Google Maps helped a lot in finding the place.

It is a not a good looking stall, but the Aloo Tikki that they serve is amazing. It is served with chutney and curd, which makes it taste sinful.

I tried their Paani Batashe (Pani Puri), but was not that much impressed, because the Tikki had already taken over the taste buds.

Do try out the Tikki if you are nearby this place.
Shorya Saini
One of the best places in Lucknow when it comes to chaat and pani puri...service is too fast.
It is one of those places in Lucknow which come under the tag of cheap and best.
The crunch and the freshness in pani puri which is found here is difficult to find these days...
That crispy aloo tikki from the outside and soft potatoes inside taste heavenly!!!😍😍 😋
Sonal W
I've been going to shukla since I was young and I have great memories of the place. Whenever I feel sad I always go to shukla. Hahaha shukla has the best chaat ..they pani batasha and tikki are simply mouth watering. .
GladToBeGlutton
Shukla Ji ki chaat is dam good you go in evening and you will definitely find crowd!! Though if you sitting in car your order can be taken, he's so quick in serving everyone👍🏻 pani batasha , chaat 👍🏻 & mattar 👍🏻 a must a place to visit 😊
