Review Ram Narayan Tiwari & Sons - Lucknow

Divya Tangri
Excellent preparation, tikki is a must try. Great place for chaat lovers …

This place can aptly be called a legendary place in Lucknow. Serving daho bada since 1929. They have now ventured into chaat as well. Yummilicious food always. What makes their dahi bada so special is that it is so soft it just melts in your mouth. Call it the dahi bade ka galawati kebabs. And the curd is well made too.

Around a century old, Ram Narayan Tiwari and Sons still serves the best and the yummiest Chat in the whole city. You can try the Dahi bhalle too, highly recommended.

For people in the periphery of this shop, chaat means Tiwari chhat. This place has broken all barriers and people from far off visit this place just to get the taste. Even though in recent years, with change of guard, there is decline in quality but still good enough to try.
mannu sodi

Without any doubt, I can say that this joint serves one of the best Pani Puri in Lucknow. Around 5 to 6 different flavours of Pani are at your perusal and of these the Ayurvedic Khatta Meetha one gets my vote every single time. The guy serving them also has his own style which adds to the flavour. The other chaat variants are also above average. A must visit place.

4 stars because of the limited number of items. I have never liked Dahi-bhalle (except I have recently started to like them) however my father has always been a big time fan of the dish. The only issue is he is also very critical to the taste. The incident happened 4 years back, I boarded the train ( Lucknow to New Delhi, going back to college ) my father and my friends came to see me off. One of my 2 friends brought Dahi-bhalle and Chaat Paapdi with him. Since I still had to develop taste for Dahi-bhalle it was then offered to my father. It so happened we had some state level politicians in my train coach that night. Dad took some of it for himself and offered some to the them people, they by now became familiar to each other while talking about politics and political scenario of the country. We all enjoyed our dishes. Finally the signal became green and train left for the destination. Only after I returned home during my holiday I was asked by Dad, where did they get it from, the dish Dahi-bhalle, the last time. I called my friend and got to know "Ram Narayan Tiwari & Sons". Since then dad never forgets to taste the best in Lucknow whenever he happens to be in that area. In our family we still discuss about how he discovered the best taste of one of his favourite dish in "Tehjeeb ka Seher" And I am grateful to the owner of the place and my dear friend Mr. Prakhar Tiwari for introducing us to it, giving us some pleasant memories to savour to, and working constantly to deliver the best. Keep growing brother. We wish to see you grow to the highest.

Fully loaded with chatpata chaat, basket chaat is a must try. Apart from that chaat, dahi-balle, pani puri are other which I would recommend to eat. Go empty stomach because the servings are large. πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹πŸ₯°πŸ₯°β€οΈ

The place is just like a small shop or shack to put it right, but the quality of food especially tikki and gol gappey is beyond anything. They say in lucknow that the secret masalas used in their preparations can take away a lot of ailments of bones and digestion. While i dont know about that but one thing is there, one can easily eat to hearts desire without having any after effects or falling sick. One place that is must try for chaat if you are in lucknow.

It is one of the oldest chaat shops of Lucknow established in 1929. The Chaat preperation is quite good and the offerings include Aloo Tikki, Dahi Bada, Papdi Chaat, Samosa and Pani Batasha ( Pani Puri). All items are quite tasty. Dahi ( curd) which is used in their all preperation is uniquely flavored and imparts distinct flavor to dishes. One unique thing about the Pani Puri is the use of seasonal fruits for making syrup. This flavour you will not find in other Pani Puris of the City. The fruits used in the preperation are Aam ( Raw Mango), Imli ( Tamarind) and Neebu ( Lemon). There are no seating arrangements at this place and hygiene needs to be improved.

First in Lucknow to serve Sweet Dahi wale Dahi Bare, placed in Ganesh ganj, Lucknow. Taste is just splendid, if you have not tasted them you not tasted any thing, specially when you like curd products...

The shop owner is a very humble person. I am a foodie, but I have never found this type of tasty Dahi Bhalla anywhere. Taste of Dahi Bhalla is awesome. If I will visit Lucknow in future, I never missed eating here.

They serve the deep fried crispy aloo tikky with some matar and spices to add on its flavours. Here they offer two types of garnishings. First one of nimbu and second one was ours favourite-dahi. They garnish the tikki with little fried adrak to make it harder.
It was awesome experience to have such a thing from such a ancient stall....β€οΈπŸ˜‹

This place claims that they sell ayurvedic pani puri. That means that they put ayurvedic masalas in pani of pani puri. Although when i had, I found little difference in their pani puri with other places. But it was nice and they have 4 different kinds of pani with pani puris. I like their matar tikki and aalu tikki which is very crisp and tasty... U wont find the area around their pani puri counter clean and u will see stray animals to around their shop..

By chance got an opportunity to try the dishes of the place. A small yet too famous place, I got to know today πŸ˜…
There are 2 adjacent shops , we tried the one where seating arrangement for few was available.
We had - 1. Pani puri - 5/5 - To be very honest each and every flavor tasted better than the previous one but personally I loved the khatta one 😍
A must try place for all pani puri lovers .

I regret having to taste other dishes I.e. pav bhajhi and moong chilla , they stand no where in front of pani puri . If I would not have tried these two dishes then definitely the place would have got 4.5.
The uncle who serve the pani puri is so sweet by nature. Would love to visit the place again and again to eat their delicious pani puri😍 and also heard that their dahi bade are very famous, next time would definitely try it also.

One of the nostalgic place for chaat lovers. It's very old shop used to be the best dahi vadas in town. Still time has taken its toll many other good places for chaat has cropped up. Still for old timer it has great n fond memories.
Abhinav Singh Chauhan
this is the place where my grand father my father me and hope my son will love to hangout. none can beat its taste, with the price it is the best in the town. One more thing that one more adjacent to it uses its name and copyright case is going on, so dont go for that place this is the best and original shop for chat lovers

Sanjay Johri
One of the oldest chat outlet in Lucknow. Established in 1938 and commanding the market since then . Other than " matar " dahi bade are a big hit. All varieties of chat , baigni , allo tikki, matar tikki and pain ke batashe are just too good.
Anirban Bhowmik

Had heard a lot about Lucknawi chaat especially Tewari's chaat.
On my recent trip to Lucknow I made it a point to try out the much acclaimed "Tewari ji ki chaat".
So my search began.
I had not bothered to Google it up and searched the whole of Aminabad market. (as I had heard that the shop was situated there)
After a whole evening dedicated to my search...and following the way told by the locales I found this joint just opposite to my hotel...!!!
sheer ignorance on my part!!!
A small neat and clean shop, no seating arrangement but the friendly and smiling staff welcomes you. The aroma of the tikkis and bhallas made in pure desi ghee is just so welcoming. Though I found the bhallas and aloo tikki on par with dilli ki chaat, the mattar ki tikki is not to be missed. With just the right blend of spices the mattar tikki is deep fried in ghee and then slowly cooked on slow flame. Served with just the right amount of lemon juice and a generous garnishing of coriander leaves you just cannot have enough!
While you pamper your taste buds the staff takes you through the various branches they have in Delhi and overseas.
Enjoyed having the chaat and visited the shop each day I was there!
Looking forward to visit their outlets in Delhi...will post about them soon.

No Tables, Chairs, Seating Arrangement. Just an Shop or Stall Sort of Arrangement made of Iron and Painted in Green Paint. Welcome to Ram Narayan Tiwari and Sons. \
The smell of Pure Desi Ghee, the Sight of Aloo Tikkis getting fried and transforming their color from pale yellow/ off white to smoky reddish brown with a crust forming on top and bottom. All this is just sheer delight and ecstasy for the foodie. To add to that, just see the dahi vadaas/ dahi bhallas and you would feel like gulping and slurping down the thick, rich, creamy and smooth curd. The Dahi Vadaas/ Bhallas are so smooth, soft and mushy that you would feel like having more and more, till your tummy is full. The Pani Batashaas or Pani Pooris are served with Four to Five Types of Water. Sweet, Sour, Hot/ Chilly are to name a few. No Matter whether you go there in rainy seasons when humidity levels reach to peaks, you can be assured the Pooris or the Bataashas will be crisp and fresh. Another Item in the menu is the Matar. The best part of the Matar is that it is slowly cooked and deep fried in Pure Desi Ghee that on a very low flame. Also the Matar is very delicately spiced. You can have it with a slice of lemon squeezed over that, with generous garnish of freshly chopped green coriander, shredded ginger and/ or crushed Pooris/ Batashas. You can also go with the chilled rich, creamy, smooth curd and the chutney. But one thing's for sure, be it lemon juice or the Curd/Chutney, you will feel and taste the goodness of the Ghee in which it is slowly cooked and fried. Rates wise Ram Narayan Tiwari Chaat Shop wins hands down compared to other Chat Shops.
The major drawback which I felt, is that either you sit in your car, and get the Chaat/ Matar or Dahi Vadaas/ Bhallas delivered or you have them packed and relish at the comfort of your home along with Family Members. No matter, what, your mind, soul and heart will crave for more even if you are done with cleaning the Donaas or the Pattas in which Chaat is served at Legendary Ram Narayan Tiwari & Sons.
Legend has it, that once Income Tax Authorities conducted a raid on the Shop and counted the Number of Donaas/Pattas for the total tax to be charged on the Shop Owner..
