One of the most Iconic Coffee Shops of Lucknow There are several stories associated with the Coffee House that make the place all the more interesting. It is said that in the year 1984, the then U.S Ambassador to India, Mr Harry Barnes visited the Coffee House and he reached the place by a rickshaw where as his official car followed him behind. Another such story as told by old timers is that of the former UP Chief Minister Vir Bahadur Singh, who was also a regular visitor to the Indian Coffee House. It is said that he used to visit the place to know more about the common man and his problems, though this goodwill gesture was seen as ‘stooping down from protocol’ in those times. Legend has it that the former Indian Prime Minister, Late Chandra Shekhar, used to visit the Indian Coffee House so much so that he had a fixed table there. Some of the most esteemed visitors were Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru, Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia, Feroze Gandhi, Atal Behari Vajpayee, Acharya Narendra Dev, Vir Bahadur Singh, Amrit Lal Nagar, Bhagwati Charan Verma, Majaz Lakhnawi! This landmark first came into business in 1938 and now there is less hustle bustle but.. the coffee served here without an argument is the best one!

The coffee you get here is worth every penny. It's just close to cafe coffee day hazratganj. The coffee house is a bit old but the taste is the same.

Mom tells me the place has lost all it's charm and that must be true since it isn't a very charming place to visit. Although, the polite staff and the averagely delectable food makes it worth a visit if you need a filling meal that's not heavy on the wallet. They happily customised my coffee when I told them not to use too much cream/milk. Therefore, the four stars! :D

Coffee house is a historic place, since british ruled Awadh region, being run all over India by workers association, coffee house seen most polical stalwerts it was their favourite joint for poltical meetings, most senior journalists used to assemble here , before n after press conferences to discuss burning topics etc. Even today you can order coffee, snacks, lunch etc. plus can wait leisurely.

Definitely needs improvement and retrofitting ie, maintain the original essence but heo up the place a little. It'll be better to privatize it.

Kya batau yaaro.... Kitni amazing feeling thi Indian Coffee House me jane ki..<br/><br/>I planned to CCD but then saw this outlet and remembered historic era 😍<br/><br/>Ordered CuppaChino coffee along with veg noodles.. Both were super nice.. Veg Chowmein was mood maker.. I loved ❤😘 it.<br/><br/>Had butterscotch shake also.. It was mere icecream with water and mill turned as shake.<br/>But over all nice.
Foodeez Junction
It was once famous as the hub for crucial discussions. Indian Coffee House was always on my list to visit. Though I didn't try the coffee on a hot summer noon, I had Masala Dosa. It was disappointing. The salt was too much, Sambhar and rasam weren't good. I skipped having them, just had the dosa. Ambience is okay to have a quick snack. Service was quick.<br/>And yes, Masala Dosa is at ₹80 here but won't recommend.
Chan (Gastronauts' Den)
Had omelette here and it was really good. We ordered for one bread omelette but ended up having three of them. Omelette was served with toast in a unique fashion. Service is quite slow though.

Been seeing this place for a long time and was thinking that will visit it some day. So visited this Coffee House recently and was very disappointed. The condition of this place was very bad. Everything was scattered here and there. <br/>More than half of the items in the menu were not available. <br/>So only south indian was available. Tried Masala Dosa and Coffee. <br/>Both the items were very ordinary.<br/>Ambiance - 2/5<br/>Food - 2/5 <br/>Location - 3/5<br/>Service - 3/5 <br/>Nearby Places - Naturals, CCD Hazaratganj, JJ Bakers

Few months ago, I got the chance to visit their with my friends who live in lucknow. As, I was new there so they told me about it's cultural perspective. <br/>Well most of the things there was economical and we ordered masala dosa and veg chowmein for us. Actually both of the things taste good and service was also nice. So, it's a must visit place for foodies.

Historic place where top politicians of national importance and state politicians used to sit and discuss politics since pre independent. Now just nostalgic moments place where still political people generally gather to discuss over coffee. Location is at prime place and coffee still good.

Just in front of hazratganj this is one of the vintage place from britishers and it is bestowed with that taste and ambience.<br/>I loved lucknow for food when i was there and this place was most frequently visited.<br/>We always loved chilli chicken from here with regular cold coffee. This was my fixed menu from here.<br/>Must try for all.<br/>Food -4/5<br/>Service-4/5<br/>Ambience-4/5<br/>Price-4/5<br/>Staff-4/5 <br/>Still its my one of favourite so 4.5😃<br/>Must try

Catching up with an old friend? Why don't you do it the most traditional way. Indian coffee house being one of the oldest coffee place in town carrying the vibes just needed to bond with your friend. Go ahead grab a coffee. Being located in the crowded streets of hazratganj an evening view would be remarkable!

This place is now in shambles, once one of the most happening in the city. Most of the Coffees in the Menu are not available. The service is also not good. The management really needs to work on the place to match the Brand Name of ICH. The place has been ruined and you will not find the gentry it was famous for.
Kunal Masih
I was told that we find intellectual gentry at the Indian coffee house<br/>But for my disappointment all I saw was 2 love birds sitting in a corner<br/>And rest of it was empty<br/>The coffee is overpriced compared to the ambience and the food is also not good
Shruti Singh
Me and my friend had a coffee. It was little expensive but the coffee was good. I was just in order to attract youngesters you people need to lower the price a little :)

I don't think it has anything special in it. I went to ICH in other cities too but Lucknow Hazratganj ICH was not a good idea for me. The gentry was not as intellectual as I was expecting even the environment was not as I expected. The food was not not able to meet my expectations too.

Not so great food but brilliant coffee. you will love this place if you really respect the south indian mode of drinking coffee. The beans here come with a very distinct taste that you wouldn't find in the likes of Barista and CCDs. It is generally very less crowded, which is surprising , given the fact that this ICH had opened since 1958 and had some really great personalities visiting the place. Having said all that the food is really inexpensive as with most of Lucknow restaurants and eat outs.<br/><br/>despite being named Indian coffee House this place does not serve the typical filter coffee, a coffee lover's Nirvana. but the cappuccino and latte served here generally make up for the lack of filter coffee.<br/><br/>Special Recommendations: nothing much, just try the cappuccino and latte.

Not good as ccd or barista... But then think of the price you are paying... Food 3/5<br/>Ambience 2/5<br/>Price 5/5

'ENJOY THE COFFEE, JUST IMAGINE YOU ARE SOME PLACE ELSE"<br/><br/>This place would definitely bring back the memories for the old timers who were frequent visitors to the only coffee shop that has been in all major cities since ages. In this age of Barista/CCD/Costa, this pace looks like you walked into a Black & White Movie set. This is the place where time has stood still. Same old furniture, old world posters, same old menu that was probably there at the time your grandfather went there.<br/><br/>But the coffee is still kickass. It can give the best outlets a run for their money. Definitely recommended. Both the hot and the cold versions. <br/><br/>Besides the Coffee, had Rava Dosa, Masala Dosa and the Grilled Sandwich and all were above average.<br/><br/>The downer - The old and shabby look of the place<br/>The high 5 - The Coffee and to some extent the food too.<br/><br/>Would recommended it if you are not too concerned about the ambience.

Indian coffee house used to be among the best restaurants in lucknow but with time it's popularity has faded away.<br/><br/>The service is great , pretty fast although at times it lagged behind.<br/><br/>The prices are quite reasonable , in fact pocket friendly.<br/><br/>As far as the dishes are concerned , indian dishes are definitely good.<br/><br/>The service is great , pretty fast although at times it lagged behind.<br/><br/>The prices are quite reasonable , in fact pocket friendly.<br/><br/>As far as the dishes are concerned Chinese as well as Indian delicacies both are delicious specially the fried rice and manchurian make a great combination.<br/><br/>Although, the overall ambiance wasn't up to the mark and the place is a little bit crouched , so not recommended for a large group of people .<br/><br/>Overall if you are tight on budget , this is just meant for you , but don't expect some extra-ordinary or eye catching.
