This place deserves 5 stars just for the hospitality of the waiter uncle.
Giving a 4 star coz I found the food slightly oily. Otherwise this is a nice restaurant with tasty food. Good seating arrangement and the waiter uncle was very warm and welcoming.
Very good nice restaurant on highway road, we were served by Mr. Amar and nice person π. The wash rooms are very clean. Thank you
Good food, trout fish tanthoori was very tasty and you can also get very yummy butter chicken here. Not supply free drinking water , you can made payment for water. Food serving time was too late. Atmosphere was good for families . Seating arrangement is congested. Not possible to accommodate tourists with high member groups. Card payment and other electronic mode of payment is not accepted here. Rate of food is reasonable at the time of my visit. Wash room and toilets is common for both genders and only one toilet is available here. Serving boys are good and cooperative. Hotel is little inner side from the main street of mall road , finding the hotel may feel little difficult for few tourists
Rejuvenate your taste buds!
Mr Naresh Sood, now 70, started Mayur Restaurant in 1970, when the hippy culture was in vogue and the place is still very famous with foreigners. He was later joined by his younger brother Mr Rajesh Sood, in his 50s now.
The kitchen has been solely managed by the brothers for last 50 years, in order to maintain the authenticity and taste-consistency of their preparations.
Every delicacy served on your table is prepared by either one of them. They double up as owners as well as chefs to ensure that foodies get a uniform taste and perfect experience on every visit.
On offer are the authentic dishes like Tandoori Trout, Chicken Tikka Masala, Rogan Josh, Chicken Rara, Sepu Bari (local veg delicacy) and much more.
An added flavour to the food comes from the warm hospitality offered by the staff and owners alike. A unique specialty of a family run non-franchised business. Prices are bit on a higher side, but overall experience justifies the same. Senior Mr Sood was kind enough to share his experiences of building and keeping the place authentic for 50+ years, over a cup of coffee. Perfect close to a scrumptious dinner.
Check out the place on your next visit to Manali and I am sure you will thank me later. Bon Appetite!
Hit the like, if the review helped you.
Follow me to know Himachal from inside. Himachal that matters to people who live here and the ones who come to enjoy the hills.
My search for an authentic trout landed me to Mayur restaurant. Its right on mall road but in a lane so you wont find it easily. A retro look kind of setup. One person who takes your orders, serves you and even give you the bill told us that Mayur is the oldest restaurant in manali since 1970. They have the secret recipe of tandoori trout and no one else has it. We tried both veg and non veg food and its was served hot and freshly prepared. Place is clean and tidy with no rush. You can enjoy good food with old songs playing in the background. Must try this place especially for trout.
This the place to be in manali if you're on mall road and looking for some great food... There's a different vibe to this place, a homely warmth.. !! Lajawab mutton and tandoor items!! Must try is their Mutton Rara and lip smacking tandoori trout.. ππ
The entire restaurant is managed by just 3 guys and they are awesome.. they'll cook one hell of a meal for you!! We had our lunch here for 4 straight days and not once we were disappointed!!
The best part about this restaurant is their traditional metalic tandoor that warms up the entire space maintaining a cosy temperature even though its freezing outside!! My wife just loved it!!
The top floor is a bistro type serving alcohol whereas the ground floor is more family friendly restaurant!!
To everyone in Manali specially in winters, if you're around then do give this restaurant a visit and try their mutton rada with butter naan and of course their signature dish, tandoori trout!! ππ
I am a Japanese living in the Himalayas.
I highly recommend this restaurant.
We asked the nearby Airtel staff to tell us a good restaurant.
Then, two of the staff said that he was here without hesitation.
Chicken biryani which I ordered first has a deep taste. Butter chicken curry is a wonderful harmony with a smoky aroma and refreshing acidity of tomatoes.
Above all, clean, cheerful staff and owners. The decoration and system of the tandoor on the ground floor are wonderful.
When we visited for the second time, there was a colorful birthday party.
You can see that it is popular.
Garlic Cheese Nan is the most refined taste I have ever liked.
On the tableware, the name of the shop and the logo are also printed.
It has been written since 1970. A wonderful restaurant that has been loved for a long time.
My husband is a chef.
He is also Japanese and cooks many national dishes.
He who has eaten a lot of delicious food also likes this restaurant.
One of the staff greeted me in Japanese. Great hospitality.
You may be looking for a restaurant full of smiles. I recommend this.
Restaurant with calm and warm (real warm) ambience unlike other hustle bustle hotels in Mall road. Tried their signature trout fish tandoori and mutton biriyani. Food was good.
Very good restaurant with friendly service and great food had trout and rara chicken both were amazing
Quality of food is good.
Quantity is same as all restaurants in manali Mall road, which is only for one
Great food, well served and comfortable sitting.
Not crowded.
Must try.
Iβm avid traveler because of my profession and travel interest and eat a lot in different places. But when I ate here, it was best Paneer Butter Masala and Veg Soup ever. Our attendant was super cool and so polite while serving us. Even the owner came in our table and gave us a very pleasant experience in this dine-in in Manali.
Hospitality is really good and food is equally awesome. We had lunch twice here and loved their Malay fish curry, which is a coconut based gravy and rice. This place is famous for trout fish and we relished their tandoori trout fish till we were there in Manali... Waiters welcome you with a smile and make sure you enjoy your food. Must visit once.
Is the biggest resturant and tasty full food with your family
