Definitely a place for a hot cup of coffee and fluffy Buns and also I would suggest everyone to try out their weird yet the ultimate combo teekroti and tove(puri and dal).
New Tajmahal Cafe needs no introduction, it's a legendary breakfast cafe in Mangalore. We ordered their signature tuppa dose, goli baje, biscuit roti, Mangalore bun, Banana halwa and filter coffee. I really loved tuppa dose, goli baje, Mangalore bun and banana halwa. Biscuit roti was kind of okay, maybe because it's cold and filter coffee was also okayish. This place is always crowded, so be prepared.
A very lively place.
Extremely quick and prompt service.
My favourite beeakfast spot in mangalore.
Recommendations are buns and goli baje

The buns are tooo good.. M in love with them.. Rice pundi is a mustttty try.. And save the best for the last.. Their tea.. Just great...
Hope the same standard is maintained come what may. A middle class friendly hotel that suits all classes. More hygiene than neighbouring counterparts.
Located in the heart of the city at Kodailbail, this was our first pitstop in Mangalore. It is one of the oldest places in the city for Konkan & Udipi style breakfast and snacks. We tried the MOODE SAMBAR, KOTTIGE, BISCUIT ROTI, SANJEERA & TUPPA DOSE. Kottige and Moode are the distant cousins of idli which are steamed in Jackfruit leaves and Screwpine leaves respectively. The steam imparts a nice flavour. Sanjeera is like a sweet kachori and Biscuit Roti is it's savoury version made of suji. Tuppa stands for ghee and it's their signature dosa made with dollops of ghee. Pricing is extremely reasonable. A major letdown is the heat wave from the kitchen, inspite of the fans the place seems like a furnace inside. But leaving that aside a must visit place in Mangalore.
Great meal @70 . They provide puri, rice either white or boiled , cup of curd , three types of vegetable curry/ sambar, dal butter milk, sometimes kheer, at the end banana. It is all provided on a banana leaf. Good seating facility. Enough waiters for service.
An institution in itself, the name used to bring a smile on my dad's face and the other elders in the family. I have been visiting this place Everytime I visiy Mangalore.
This time I felt that the quality of the food stuff has dipped, tried biscuit rotti, chapati song, rotti bhaji, tuppe dosa.
The coffee, however, is superb... The best one can have anywhere.
New Taj Mahal Cafe is a popular breakfast place at Mangalore. The place normally stays quite crowded. We tried the tuppa dose, biscuit rotti, sanjeera, moode tove and kottige sambar. I liked the moode tove and sanjeera (sweet). The sambar was little different from what you usually get in bangalore and I liked the flavour.
New taj mahal cafe is a very popular breakfast joint in Mangalore. I tried their Tuppa dose,Biscuit Rotti,Sanjeera, Moode tove & Kottige sambar. Food is good no doubt. Tuppa dosa is quite heavy. Liked the sanjeera too. Sambar served with food is different in taste. Crowded during peak hours so be on time or else have to wait.
Good place to visit. If you want to experience the authentic Mangalore style Veg food served in a Banana Leaf, you must visit this place.
Food is Great.
Specially Try Mangalore Buns and Filter Coffee.
Biscuit Roti is Famous of this Restudent.
We visited this place cause our research said this cafe is known for it's coffee and falls in the top 5 best coffee makers in India...
We opted to have breakfast here. Ordered for diff dishes like idli sambar, dosa, some bun puri dish that is famous. It was a good one.
But the overall vibe of the cafe is gloomy. It has this AC compartment but it's not so posh.
Looks like they don't really focus on the look and feel of the cafe.
Additionally, there are food items like indian desserts and cakes available at this cafe.
Their coffee was quite strong. Diff in taste but a good one.
Must try: Veg meals. It is so tasty. They serve you in banana leaf. Pocket friendly hotel.
Service was fast. Waiter was friendly and kind.
They have good parking space for private vehicles.
The New Taj Mahal Cafe in Mangalore is a delightful spot for breakfast that offers a nostalgic journey through the flavors of the region. During my visit, I was keen to try some local breakfast options, and I was not disappointed.
The Mangalore Buns were a standout. These fluffy, slightly sweet buns were a delightful start to the morning, offering a unique local twist to the traditional breakfast bread. They were a perfect balance of sweet and savoury.
What truly sets the New Taj Mahal Cafe apart is its ability to evoke a sense of nostalgia. The ambiance and the flavors of their breakfast offerings transport you to a time when breakfast was a leisurely affair, and local flavors were cherished.
If you're in Mangalore and want to experience a nostalgic breakfast with a taste of the region, the New Taj Mahal Cafe should be on your list. Their Mangalore Buns, Ragi Idli, and other local breakfast options make for a memorable morning meal.
The breakfast was very good and the service great. Tried many breakfast dishes and all were tasty. The coffee needs to be worked on. The ghee dosa was a bit too thick for a Bangalorean's liking.
This is one of the oldest restaurants in Mangalore, and it's always bustling with a lively atmosphere, much like a hive of activity. It's among the few places that open early in the morning. They offer a variety of vegetarian options, all of good quality. Plus, their coffee is fantastic.
This restaurant is almost 100 years old in mangalore, taste was excellent I had banana halwa and thuppa dosa
One of the oldest restaurants of Mangalore, Known for breakfast and evening snacks. It's an old building with AC . Service is good and quick.
Tuppa Dose (Ghee Dose), Goli baje, Mangalore Buns - Recommended. Their Strong tea/ Coffee is also good.
They also have sweets. Banana Halwa is recommended. If you want to try, they have other flavored Halwa s as well.
Digital payments are accepted. Good Four wheeler parking space.
The name is a legacy in local cuisine and it still holds its own. The Rotti+Bhaji and the Tuppa Dosa are a must-try for their distinctive tastes. The filter coffee is certified addictive which many long-timers can vouch for. A variety of breakfast options to suit all tastes .
