Review Japanese Cafe Tokimeki - Mangalore

I don't know how an authentic Japanese food tastes like but MY GOD! the food here is tasty 😍. And the girls who are running the place are the most nicely bunch of people you will find. Hospitality is great. And the attention to detail of their food is also amazing. Kudos to them. It's a must try place.

It's a small and cozy place with unique food and beverages. If you are into Japanese stuff will definitely like it. The hosts are really polite and perceptive.( I went with friends so they gave us extra cutlery when they saw us sharing food)

I think this is the second time I am posting a review for this restaurant. I have only good things to say about this place. If you don't know what to order, go in for any of the big plates ( teriyaki, shogo or the other 2 ) - they are all superb. Do remember to add the miso soup and the mini sweet. The sweet is a perfect end to a perfect meal. If you are going there for the second time, try the maki. I have had the chicken and crab stick maki, and they taste the same ( to my inexperienced tongue , I think ). DO NOT miss out on the wasabi and be liberal with the Mayo and less liberal with the other brown sauce. If you are going in for the dessert only, I suggest the jellyco or the yogurt with cream and berry sauce. It might seem a little expensive, tbh. But it is completely worth it. Enjoy! ☺️

"良い です !! " Which literally translates to it was really good. I liked the way sushi and other sand dishes were presented. It was truly authentic Japanese but yeah it had space issues. Here's a pic of the teriyaki sushi I had !!!

Great place for basic Japanese cuisine. literally everything is a must try. Very small place, can only accommodate only 10 people though.

A tiny cute little cafe hidden away in Mangalore, Toki Meki is a very pleasant find with their super cute ambiance, lovely staff, and authentic food with the Blancmange being the sweetest ending to your experience. It is one of the higher priced places in Mangalore though so probably a sweet treat to your special occasions more than a go-to hangout spot.

Very cozy ambience. Although the place is quite small, that adds to its description of a cute little Japanese Café in town. The staff there are very friendly and would love to explain their culture and about dishes served. Food served is good. Wouldn’t call it completely authentic sushi as they’ve had to improvise it for our Indian crowd.

This place is closed from last one year.. I dont know why zomato is confusing its customers. Please update you records.

Unfortunately, it seems like the place is permanently closed. It was my little corner in mangalore, and I would come every weekend just to eat the chicken maki and yakiniku don. Friendly staff and amazing cleanliness, presentation and service. Really hope they reopen soon or open another venture, I am heartbroken :(

#cozy #japanesecafe I loved the way they have made optimal use of the small premises and given the place a bright and airy feel. The place is clean and is run by a small team of cheerful ladies. The place has been decorated with tiny knick knacks giving it a very cozy feel. We tried the Veg maki (sushi - 8 rolls), chicken rice bowl, a cup of oolong tea and Blancmange for dessert. Now here, what you see is what you get, which is unlike the usual eateries. So make sure not to order too much. Maki or sushi is a salad of sticky rice with a few veggies in the middle rolled in a seaweed. Not everyone likes it as it is served cold and is slightly bland. They served it with a bit of wasabi (green coloured & spicy- take very little at a time), soy sauce & sweet chilli sauce.

Excellent service and food in this small cafe. We had Sushi. It was authentic and delicious. Probably the only place in Mangaluru to have Sushi.

Small cute outlet which excellent food. It also has a nice clean look to it which makes food even more appetising. They even sell small anime keychains and stuff for anime lovers like me.

Loved the food here. I’ve tried the veg maki and also the yakiniku don, loved both of these. They also serve puddings which are really cute and tasty!
Staff is very friendly, the pricing was a little above the normal, but otherwise a great place to hangout.
The indoor deco is really cute and very photogenic!

Small place and congested. The host makes up for the lack of space and the food is great. The place is run by Japanese owners and the food is authentic Japanese.

Talk about a small space with wonderful hospitality and yummy food, this has to be your go to ! Food ordered was an Oniku Plate , Teriyaki Chicken with Wasabi Mayo Plate, Hot Anko Milk (ie Soybean paste accompanied with peanuts that make the overall taste wonderful) and a Blanchmage for dessert ❤️
Food : 8/10
Hospitality: 11/10 (because i came out of there so happy)
Price: 6.5/10 (but it’s alright considering the cost of getting seaweed for sushi etc and other authentic ingredients from there)
Ambience: 9/10
Small (also very pretty) area so do call to see id they are free around😁
They also sell cute souvenirs (especially really cute Maneki neko aka lucky cat )
Had the opportunity to dine at Tokimeki, the first and only cafe serving authentic Japanese cuisines in Mangalore.

The place is tiny with few tables but well managed by 3 attentive and beautiful Japanese ladies. The cafe Deserves repeat visits as myself and my niece enjoyed thier Chicken Yakiniku Don, Teriyaki chicken Wasabi mayo and french toast with Nutella chocolate sauce.

I have always been a fan of Cafe Tokimeki. They have authentic Japanese cuisine and the staff is always friendly and helpful. The Veg Maki has the perfect balance of sweet Sushi Rice, vegetables, seaweed and soy dipping sauce.
Their french toast is to die for. Perfectly fluffy french toast served with ice cream, make sure you are hungry when you order this humongous dish.
The oolong tea and the Mugicha are a delight. The ginger lime soda was the perfect thirst quencher.
The Anko toast with the sweet bean paste and whipped cream is absolutely scrumptious.
The ambience is very peaceful with Shinchan and Doremon decorarions and a Murakami on the shelf. The perfect place to unwind with a book or a couple of friends after a long day.

This cute little cafe in Attavar is every ones dream! I havent met anyone who doesnt like this cute place.
The cafe is tiny and tastfully decorated with japanese cartoons. The staff/ owner is from Japan and hence the food is authentic. Their french toasts are one of the most loved foods among people. Also known are the sushis of this place. Though i havnt got a chance to taste those yet. I like their white sauce spaghetti and yakiniku don, which is a paneer and mushroom dish served with rice.

A tiny shop. Not really a big fan of Japanese cuisine. Sushi was good. Blissful service and their hospitality is wonderful. I really appreciate their hard work.

I would like to rate this place average as sushi is not available through the week and that’s disappointing as there is no other restaurant that serves you sushi other than tokimeki , the taste and the quality is totally acceptable but I would suggest this place improve a couple of things !
Compact place with just three tables but worth a try. Being a vegetarian I was skeptical about visiting this place but it did not fail to amaze me. Loved the eggless French toast

Personally, I am a big lover of Japanese Cuisine. Japanese consume a lot of protein in their diet. Their preliminary source being fish as it is an island nation.
Being moved to Mangalore for work, I was slowly starting to crave for some sushi and rice bowls when suddenly one day, I discover this cafe on Instagram. The next thing? I set my upcoming weekend solely for visiting this cute cafe
The cafe is a small shop on the ground floor of Casa Grande Mall, Attavar. Locating this place might take you some time as the local autowallas and pedestrians does not seem to know about the proper location when asked.
This cafe can accommodate 12-14 people at a time. I had predefined the dishes which I was going to eat.
Once we got our seats, we placed our orders and the food was on our tables in less than 15 mins.
We ordered:

Crab Stick Maki: Fresh veggies, crab stick wrapped in sticky rice and seaweed. Very fresh and with every bite, I was able to taste all the individual ingredients in it. Highly recommend to taste their sushi. 5/5.
Chicken Yakiniku Don: A rice bowl having onions, Yakiniku sauce and cooked chicken. The yakiniku sauce is a sweet sauce with a bold sesame essence. I’d rate 3.5/5 for this dish.
Grape Lime Mojito: Mojito lovers must try this virgin grape lime mojito. Costs just 70 bucks and has a strong sour and sweet taste that will tingle your tastebuds. 4/5.

I’d sum up my experience with this cafe as a unique one. This cafe makes one feel that he/she is living in Japan. One can experience how kind the Japanese people are with their etiquette and manners in this cafe.
Would highly recommend everyone to visit this cafe at least once.

Have tried the maki rolls from this place and they are quite good. Frankly while I have had better ones, I do appreciate the work these guys are doing in Mangalore given the various constraints. Today I had their crab stick maki and Mughechi which I thoroughly enjoyed. It's a really small quaint cafe, but the host are extremely sweet. They are Japanese and therefore the food is as authentically Japanese as you can get....

Very cozy and cute place with amazing food. Less veg choices though. Desserts are awesome. Would love to visit again and try some more things.

The French toast with a generous portion of french toast and Berry Sauce along with whipped cream and a scoop of vanilla ice cream is a killer .
This place is a really small one with a team of 3 Japanese women running the show in Mangalore .
They have a good diversity of authentic Japanese cuisine
We were in for a snack.
We had a Japanese dessert which was a really light pudding hmm called blankamagne

Cafe TokiMeki is taking the Japanese cuisine scenes in Mangalore to another level!
I was here today for Lunch & I came back super impressed. 😍 (Was only sad about not getting to eat the sushi here as it's only available from Friday-Sunday)
Everything there feels so pretty and Japanese😁
Loved everything I tried today!🤤
Will be heading back soon to try out some sushi there😍

Surprising and refreshing to find a Japanese cafe in Mangalore and a good one at that. We had the veg and the chicken teriyaki maki with native Japanese ingredients not available locally which probably explains the slightly higher pricing. The food was excellent. I Would highly recommend tokimeki to Japanese food enthusiasts in Mangalore

The french toast is utterly butterly delicious and to die for. The hot and soft bread with the cold vanilaa and fresh cream melts in your mouth... and takes you to a world of ecstacy..the presentation is simple yet elegant and so sweet. The whole experience is all the more pleasant because of the ever cheerful staff.

This cute little place is unique. It is run by 3 Japanese women, who do the cooking themselves. Then have a fun menu ranging from Sushi to spaghetti to French toast! Would highly recommend to folks happy to experiment. Love it!

The usp of Tokimeki is that , it's the only place in Mangalore serving Japanese Food. A petite outlet with can host only 10 people at a time. Also do check the day and timings before planning a visit. "Thursday is the weekly off and they are closed 2.30 to 4 pm.

Our orders were terikayi chicken with wasabi mayo - the well cooked chicken is served with toast, salad, dressing and oriental noodles with the precise much of herbs. Chicken yakiniku don implies yakiniku chicken served in a bowl. The chicken in tangy served with slightly sweetened, sticky Japanese rice. The frequently ordered dish is french toast, we ordered the one with Nutella and chocolate sauce. It is too filling, unless you intend to have a sweet filled stomach do take the effort to share. My pick of the day would be blanchmage, it a Japanese pudding which is just perfect. The price and the taste amazed me.
From the cost angle, I feel based on the portion size, the dishes are slightly overpriced for Mangalore standard.
French toast - 240
Terikayi plate - 310
Yakiniku don - 240
Blanchmage -40

Please note - They also sell some collectable which are kept on the display panels.

I have tried a bunch of things there but my all time favorite will be The french toast. Do try it. My ratings- Taste- 5/5
Value for money- 4.5/5
Service- 5/5
Ambience- 4/5

It's a cute little place hidden in basement level of Casa Grande complex. I believe their food is authentic Japanese with amazing flavours and taste to suit every person's taste.
It was nice interacting with the hosts and chef there, sweet girls :)
The prices are a little higher 180-350/- for one dish but it will be served as a complete meal to satisfy your hunger.
You will rarely find such authentic Japanese cuisine experience with their style tea and way of service.
Must try in Mangalore.
Kudos to the females running this place.
High time you try a good Sushi ☺

Just went all Khatro ke khiladi with my taste!
Trying out sushi at the JAPANESE CAFE TOKIMEKI!
They were generous enough to let me try two different kinds of sushi, one being crab and the other being the tuna based one.
Ambience is really cozy and cute and management is really so sweet and courteous! *no wonder why japan is considered the master in etiquettes and manners*
Talking about the taste I’m not really fond of sea food, so I personally didn’t enjoy is as much as my friend did. Maybe I just don’t have the taste for it!
But I loved the sauce thou *cause it was tangy and the Indian in me like it!* There are many other interesting things on the menu which I really wanted to try but I was running late, so may be it’s a sign that I should be visiting it again, anyways I don’t need a sign to visit this really cozy and interesting place again cause I have loads to try! 😌

This is one of the most amazing places to hang out. The staffs are so hospitable and friendly. Anybody would love the place. It has such a Japanese touch to it. I felt like I had entered into a cafe in Tokyo. The food was good. We tried the shrimp sushi, which was ok and it was my first time. The green tea was refreshing and so was the mojito. Overall, , the experience was kawai!

Awesome people, Awesome food. Love everything that they serve there. My favorite is either the Sushi or Barbeque chicken. Just love the taste. Great food served by sweet and nice folks. In addition to the great food their desert selection is also very unique. Try it..... you will love it tooo :)

Small place with really great food, may feel little claustrophobic. Food is expensive but definitely worth a one time try. Hope they will start more outlets

Great place with some amazing authentic Japanese cuisine!
The teriyaki roll is my favorite. I love that kick of wasabi mixed in the mayo.
Also tried the crab stick maki. It was also pretty good!

A Japanese cafe in Mangalore serving Japanese food prepared by Japanese people, what else you have say. Well, tasting Japanese cuisine for the very first time. Food was tasty. Nice service, though the space is small. You will get to know why world says Japanese people are kind and respectful. Nice ambience. Before I go there next time, I will have to train myself to use chopsticks. One drawback, carry cash as they don't accept cards.
Ruchir Kalra
Cards are not accepted.. also 350 for two is wrong.. more like 1000 for two.. but it's worth it.. very cute place to be.. lovely hosts.. and good Japanese food! 5/5 is for the hospitality

Love the food at this place and the ambience! Cute and comfy! Teriyaki chicken has got to be the best :) Every dish is made with so much love :) Such friendly stuff! The rice bowls and the rolls are also amazing!

Been here twice. I love the food, the ambiance and the people. They are very nice and approachable. The food is delicious and comes in good quantities for reasonable prices. The place is small but it is very neat and clean. I would recommend the Anko Toast (sweet dish), Yakiniku Don, Eggless French Toast, Hot Ginger Lemon (drink) and the Maki (sushi). I only tried the tuna, crab stick and teriyaki chicken maki. My friends said that the veg maki are good too.

I have been wanting to visit this place since a very long so finally yesterday we made it. We ordered 3 things which were combos from the non veg section and 3 drinks which were jeylo, very berry and coffee ice cubes in milk. Everything here was very nice the service was good also the food tasted very good. Only thing I would say is the cost of each of the dish is a little too much for the quantity served. But a good place to chill at and eat some good Japanese food.
Shamlyn Fernandes
Hey! I'm just going to get straight to the point. The food was incredibly delicious. You can feel all the flavours just as promised. The meat was so tender and well cooked. Was super soft to bite into. The ambience is very simple and cute. The service was super fast and the staff is the sweetest. I loved my jelly coffee (can't remember the right name). But this coffee is a must try!
Considering how people eat a lot of rice I'm guessing the only draw back would be the quantity especially for the boys. The food portions are not too large especially if you are going to relate it to the cost. Keep in mind that this is a Japanese restaurant so that's the thing 😂😅. I'm definitely gonna visit this place more often for the coffee.

This place is quite amazing, simply because we get to taste Japanese food right here in Mangalore. The ambience is so similar to the small cafes you find in Japan ! Small wooden seats and tables ,clean colourful and lively ! The food is just amazing ,do try the spaghetti and tuna maki! (Non veg food recommendation by my friend as I tried only vegetarian) Sunil Stephen
