Review Spice - Mangalore

Abhilash Shukla
This is by far the best 3 star hotel in Mangalore. I stayed here withy family for 3 days and my experience was truly amazing. This was due to the excellent customer service by both Mr Upendra Singh Rawat and othe members of the staff namely Basu, Misraji, Dhananjay and Naveen!.. I would strongly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a beautiful property in the centre of the city with excellent customer service and vegetarian food.

The location of the hotel is good and 5 mts distance from Mangalore Central Railway station. Rooms were decent and can be better. Clean and quiet rooms. Almost the staff were supportive and friendly. Breakfast, we had one day during our stay, and the food was tasty and good. In the evening, it's fixed menu no south Indian food was available. Plenty of hotels nearby, you have on the opposite Srinivas hotel, food is good. If you walk 300 meters, you will get food of your choice as it's close to the city mall. Be careful when you walk, as the drivers do not care about pedestrians, specifically the bus, others equally follow. Overall it's good budget hotel.

Convenient location, decent rooms, courteous staff. A feel good experience. Railway station, markets, eateries nearby, at walkable points. Right in the heart of the city.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Srinivas Saffron Hotel in Mangalore, and overall, it was a delightful experience. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted by friendly and attentive staff who made me feel welcomed. The location of the hotel is excellent, situated in a convenient area with easy access to various attractions and transportation options. Whether you're visiting for business or leisure, the hotel's central location makes it a great choice.

In saffron hotel, we conducted one event in party hall which was well facilitated by Mr. Naveen. We had an amazing experience in that hotel with spacious hall, Projector screen, Mic facilities and sound systems. I have to mention about the food facilities they provided. It was so delicious with many varieties and everyone enjoyed it. Overall I can recommend Saffron hotel for conducting events.

I guess this is by far the best hotel we have stayed in. Loved the hospitality, rooms, food, location and everything else! Rooms are very clean, TV and AC works very well. Washrooms are maintained clean. So nice of the housekeeping staff who cleaned the room even though we did not ask them to :) Their staff is very well trained! Be it security, house keeping, they know their job well and do it with a smile! We had house keeping requests multiple times and they attended it promptly within a jiffy! The security is always greeting you with a smile whenever you are going out or getting inside the hotel and they also help you while taking out your car. Having said that, they have a dedicated car parking and can easily accomodate 15 cars at once. The hotel has a delicious breakfast buffet. The menu changes everyday except for a couple of items which remain the same. The hotel is in prime location of hamapankatta. All eateries and temples are very close by. Definitely staying here next time we visit Mangalore for Kodial teru 😍 Hope this hotel doesn't lose its charm and hospitality!

Room size is ok, but 1 problem is there that in room if you switch off AC then water is coming on floor and walls and floor becomes slippery, these is no leakage but it is coming in droplets form and floor is look very dirty, I told them that change my room they not changed, he told me that you always keep your AC at 17 and don't off....after that it becomes okay, I feels like I live in Simla, I don't like this temperature, I have managed anyway, outside is 35 and inside 17 it's very unhealthy, I stayed 7 days, Breakfast is also not so good, all South Indian item like idli dosa sambar is not good very hard and no taste..

Banquet hall: I had booked this hall for my daughter's Birthday party, I give full five stars for the service and food menu. People invited appreciated the food and the party was a grand one. The staff is on their toes, always ready to help even when you request them at the last moment. Mr. Upendra is a very knowledgeable and friendly person. He gives good suggestions related to events and food. They have contacts for decoration and other arrangements too. Over that, it is budget-friendly for the AC Banquet hall. Great Place to conduct events for 100 to 150 guests. Rooms: One of the best rooms and room service in the town. 5 stars here. Clean, neat with all the modern amenities. Excellent service with a nice breakfast. Thank You Saffron Verda for the beautiful experience. Our guests were totally impressed by the service and quality of food.

Tried their Murg Musallam curry and butter chicken Biriyani. One of the best curries in Mangalore. Really well done! Highly recommended.

Spice is a multi cuisine restaurant with a versatile range of cuisines and their unique delicacies. It has an amazing food menu.
Things I tried:
French fries: I am French fries fan which led me into trying it and it didn’t disappoint. It was great and tasted amazing.
Chicken chilly: It was quite good. It had right combination of the perfect spices.
Veg manchow soup: It had a nice mild spicy taste which was good.
Chicken fried rice: My personal favourite from their menu.

Been here once during a visit to Mangalore weeks before. Aloo Paratha and Tea was their items which I tried and my friend with me had Poori Bhaji. Nothing bad to complain and nothing too good to applaud. Was an average experience.

Spent a month in Mangalore, while staying in the Saffron hotel. While it's a decent neat hotel, has a kitchen that you wouldn't beleive. My pallete and taste buds were in a joy ride for the complete time i was there. Everything i tried, from Chicken Sukka, Anjal Fish Tandoori, Fish Curry to Mutton Biryani was something that you would expect from a big commercial kitchen, and satisfied your cravings both in terms of taste and presentation. Thumbs up from me.

Went to this place just to see how it would be ... The food was great and so was the price , but the service was really slow and also no mutton dishes were available at all even though they were in the menu and the waiters weren't quite hospitable as well , so I would rate this an Average .

We have been to Mangalore recently and stayed in saffron hotel.
One of the things we started with was ordering dinner. We ordered dal tadka, roti and hara bhara kabab. The dal was south Indian version of arhar dal just OK and hara bhara kabab was also just OK nothing special.
Then we had the chance to have buffet breakfast. We tried lot of items so will rate them as below
1st day
Allu parantha - 3/5
Upma - 4/5
Aloo bonda - 2.5/5
Tea - 2/5
Juice - 1/5

2nd day
Poori bhaaji - 3/5
Idly sambhar 3.5/5
Coffee - 2/5
Tea - 2/5
Juice - 1/5

The breakfast buffet spread was good with good options. They could have done better with tea and coffee
Have dined at Spice quite a few times while staying at The Saffron while visiting Mangalore, along with having their buffet breakfast.
While the buffet breakfast is fairly average, more or less the same as it is for most 3/4 star hotels, a dish which particularly stood out for me during à la carte dinner is their Chicken Stroganoff amongst an array of a dozen other vegetarian and non vegetarian dishes.
It is the best Chicken Stroganoff I've had till date.
The food is decent, prices fairly reasonable, the interiors have been redone a couple of years back and ambience is good too.
