Review The Curry Wok - Mangalore

Rajesh
It's a nice family restaurant with a bar attached. The food served was great and tasty. The prices are on par with other comparable restaurants. There is no parking space as it's located in the busiest area but they have a valet parking facility. The place is set for a family experience, so don't expect a bar-like experience. Great for girls-only events too. But I feel it was too bright a place for my liking. Also, waiters are not locals so they don't know what to suggest to you if you ask them for a suggestion. I like the local waiter experience. Overall great place to dine.

A nice family restaurant. Good variety of veg and non veg food. They have parking below the same building. Polite staff and quick service.

Edit from recent visit:- Not at all disappointed by the service and flavours. "Bharwan Tandoori Aloo"๐Ÿฅ” is a must try. It's expensive though. Just 5 thumb size pieces for 290Rs?????? Not gonna order again. But it was absolutely delicious๐Ÿ˜‹. For the main course, we ordered "Kozhikode Biryani"๐Ÿš. Again, delicious, flavorful, juicy chicken, and a must try. For dessert, the waiter suggested "ice cream, which they make in-house", and when we asked for the flavours, he said "Chikmagalur coffee, and Mysore Pak". We were like "Mysore what?????๐Ÿฅน". And so we ordered Mysore Pak ice cream. They give 2 scoops. It was freakin amazing. Your get small crumbles of Mysore Pak in each bite๐Ÿคค and then you can also taste the hint of ghee. I mean that's crazy delicious. ๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹ "I'm at a point now, where I feel there is nothing specific that I would call a best seller. Everything is great. I'd blindly order anything, and I'm pretty sure it'll still turn out great." โš ๏ธI just hope, they continue their standards in terms of flavour and service. Most iconic restaurants in Mangalore have dropped their standards due to shear ego . Curry wok, if u are reading this, make note ๐Ÿ˜‚โš ๏ธ My First visit review (1 year ago) :- Absolutely delicious food. The restaurant gets fully packed, so it's better to come early. Service becomes a bit slow when the restaurant is full. But it's understandable. We were not sure what to order and what's great here, so we asked the waiter for suggestion. We asked him for a suggestion for non-veg starters, and he suggested "Coorg Tikka".๐Ÿ—๐Ÿ— It was delicious and goes very well with the 3 chutneys that they provide. For the main course, we were interested in Chinese and spicy, so he suggested " Spicy Malaysian Flat Noodles" and "Thai Chilli Basil Noodles".๐Ÿœ๐Ÿœ Yea, it's ironic, both aren't Chinese๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚. By this time, the restaurant was full and the 2-3 families waiting outside. And yes, as mentioned earlier, service became a bit slow.โฐ But it's okay, as there was a waitress who constantly kept an eye on each table to see whether the orders have arrived or not. We didn't have to ask, after 10-15 minutesโณโŒ› of wait, she noticed that our table hadn't received our order and informed the same to another waiter, and within a minute or two, both of our noodles arrived. They were steaming hot. So I don't think they were sitting there in the kitchen waiting for long. First, we tried the Spicy Malaysian Flat Noodles. I loved it a lot. Very tasty when served hot. The spiciness is medium ๐ŸŒถ๏ธand enjoyable. We then tried the Thai Chilli Basil noodles, this will be an acquired taste for some of you. You'll definitely get the fragrance of Basil๐ŸŒฟ, and if you don't like the strong taste of TULSI๐ŸŒฟ in food, this is not the one for you. But I loved it. And it is definitely not spicy until you bite that Thai Chilli ๐ŸŒถ๏ธ๐ŸŒถ๏ธ. ๐Ÿฎ๐ŸฎFor dessert, we ordered caramel custard. Most restaurants, mess up this dessert. The caramel will be burnt. I Definitely did not taste any burnt flavor here. The caramel was perfect, the custard was perfect and that cherry on top looked cute. It was the best caramel custard I've ever tried in Mangalore. In the end, they give you a small sachet of mouth freshener. ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ All in all, it will be my new favorite restaurant in Mangalore. Not at all disappointed.

The food was amazing and the ambience was cool. We tried their fried rice and coriander soup both were excellent. And also we tried a starter which was both crispy and tender chicken. Overall the experience was wonderful.

Truly a 5 star experience, love the whole ambience, food tastes like heaven , they even have valet parking since the entrance is little small and parking is a bit difficult but everything is well thought out ๐Ÿ™Œ, hands down one of the best restaurants in Mangalore

Great ambiance. Good food and quick service. Loved the place... No parking space for four wheelers. Would suggest reserving a table before going. It can get a bit expensive though. But its worth the good food and the ambiance. The waiters are helpful in suggesting what to order. Projector and TV available for viewing sports.

Good place for continental,Chinese and some Indian dishes. This restaurant was a pleasant surprise. Was referred by a friend who insisted we visit . Food quality and presentation was at par. Service staff is not very well trained as they talk loudly with each other which tends to bring down the place decor value.but it is not a major constraint as such and can well be overlooked. Overall it was a good experience.have visited twice. Parking is valet parking and they are quite prompt. Not mentioning much on food as the dishes they serve are very good and will be trying out more.

One of the best dining experiences in Mangalore especially for cuisines other South Indian. It's a complete package of a great multi cuisine menu offering North Indian, Asian including Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese and Western so mixing cuisines and getting a taste of the popular cuisines shouldn't be a problem. We stuck to North Indian cuisine with few elements of Asian cuisines for soups and starters and it all fell in place nicely. A notable mention to Santosh for recommending great dishes and giving us a great dining experience through exemplary service. It was great to see happy faces proving services and that's a definite plus for this place which scores well on ambiance and food, making it a great choice for any occasion to bond over food - friends, family, et all.

It was a unique dining experience. Its a busy place and preferably book a table in advance. Though we didn't..we got a place to sit in 5 minutes. The staff are friendly and helpful. The food was great. We mostly dinned on starters and a pizza in the end. Excellent presentations of each dish. Great ambience. Was only put off by the noisy and crowded atmosphere and loud music too. .a bit heavy on the pocket too but worth it considering everything..perfect for special occasions..or a get- together after a long time.. And its tricky to find this place. Need to go to city center in hampankatte and its next to hotel karuna residency.

Amazing food, Drinks and the Service is top-notch! Very few fine dining restaurants in and around Mangalore will you find this kind of amazing service. Especially loved the Ambiance that was done for Valentine's day. Too good!

Consistency in the food they dish out. Not many restaurants can claim this. Excellent ambiance and very good service. Very popular, hence quite full most of the time. Occasionally, if your group is large, you might have to wait a while. But even then, you are not left to your own devices. They have a hostess who will attend to you and inform you when your table is ready. We prefer pan Asian cuisine and have always liked the food served. The food is served quite fast, and the bar is well stocked.

They have wide range of options for both food and drinks which are reasonably priced in a charming set up. Staff are very courteous with a smile on their face. We were here for dinner, tried sheek kabab , calamari and noorani kabab. Sheek and calamari would definitely worth ordering again. Orange caipiroska was yummy had two servings. Denise ensured we had a great evening, thanks

Came across this place while searching for boarding places with in-house restaurant. Having seen good reviews on Google but surprisingly not so good ones in Zomato, decided to give this place a try and visited on a Sunday night. Mind it that this place is quite famous and better to reserve and visit. We got a seat for 8 of us and ordered the following: Chana Chatpata which was prepared like a chat with tangy chutney; Chicken Smoked Pot Tikka which is served in a pot with charcoal to give some smokey flavour; Chicken Uttaranchal which was a tikka preparation with mild spices; Chilli Cheese Fries which was served with a cheesy dip; Jamaican Jerk Chicken Skewers which was served with a green dip; Saffron Risotto Cream Cheese Chicken which is creamy rice with boneless chicken chunks; Kozhikode Biriyani which was mildly spicy with 5-6 chicken pieces served with raita; Tulsi Lifafa Lanner which is marinated paneer wrapped in banana leaf and toasted; Masala Papad; Veg Thai Chilli Basil Noodles; Yuzu Cheese Cake and Blueberry Cheesecake. For beverages, we had Kiwi Cooler, Adams Apple, Colorful World, Black Diamond, Pineapple Sunshine and Seasonal Cider Sangria. Almost all of the dishes we ordered were of very good taste. The chicken appetizers had 6 pieces each and quantity was good too. We were also served with three dips - mint, mustard and chilli. Service is really good with wide variety of tasty food, which is evident from the crowd. Ambience is great as well. Staff are friendly and polite. Prices may appear on the higher side but is justified for the whole experience. Washrooms are maintained well as well. Overall a must visit place when in Mangalore. Parking is available in the basement of an adjoining building. Unsure of valet as we didn't find one though we were told there will be.
