Review Shagun - Margao

One of my friend suggested this place. I have visited first time here but I am not satisfied with test of all dishes that I ordered. Bed quality food.

We got my shaadi ka khaana from Shagun last month and trust me, they didn't disappoint us. When we approached the owner, he immediately asked us to come over for food tasting and we literally tasted all the items on the menu and the owner didn't charge us a single rupee. The items were so amazing, so we quickly paid him the advance. On the day of the wedding, we had literally all of our invitees praising the food. The setup looked royal. The malai chicken and the Halwa were out of this world. I am extremely grateful to dem as they didn't disappoint us. Normally wedding food doesn't taste delicious. But we got what we tasted for our food trials. We kept going back to the restaurant to taste all of the dishes once again to remind ourselves of the delight we got to taste on our wedding.

Had visited hotel shagun....nice atmosphere,the service is also quite food ,had ordered chicken fried rice and chilli chicken, must try.....Do try out their other menu.. especially biryani 😁😋

We ordered prawn sukha masala with tandoori roti. It was the best most tasty masala with big prawns. The tandoori roti was really the best we had anywhere . Soft and hot straight from the tandoor. The service was too good by a smiling happy boy named Kamal. The proprietor sat on the last bench and made sure that every customer is served well. He is a younger version of Kader Khan and very friendly . Do try their biriyani and sweet dish too.

I liked there dum chicken biryani, simple flavor not with too much spices and all. So far this is one of the best non vegetarian restaurant in Margao, this restaurant located on main market street and if someone looking for halal than this is finest restaurant, prices are moderate. I hope they will maintain quality and quantity, overall good experience

I'll be honest, I'm not the biggest biryani fan ever. The only biryani I eat is the one prepared by my mom. However, the biryani prepared at Shagun rekindled my love for home-made biryani. Apparently, this place has been an classic for years now and was introduced to me by a North Goan friend. Having 0% tolerance toward spice, we ordered for a Mutton Biryani (MB for all the cool kids out there // I must point out, the mutton wasn't cooked to my preference. I've felt Niyaaz has always cooked it's mutton to a well-cooked beautiful pink.), chicken dry fry 🍗(which has the most amazing fries EVER!!!), butter naan and some lovely Kheema. The Chef's will have the spice in the dish regulated as per your liking. When asked for a Sprite, our very keen waiter recommended his virgin Mojito prep, which was, to be honest, as good as virgin mojitos found at a bar lounge.🍸 #saynotoplastic #paperstraws Definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a heavy lunch. Tried chicken shezwan lollypop & mutton dum biryani. Both dishes were awesome. Service was very good.

Has been my absolute favorite biryani since years! If you're looking for a masala laden overflavoured biryani this is not the place for you. But if you like the mildly spicy, light yet flavourful authentic dum biryani, do give thik place a try. Also love their chicken dry fry which comes.with a generous portion of masala fries (if you're a vegetarian just order a portion of masala fries). And don't miss out on their garlic paste. Goes well with the fries and dry fry. Edit: tried their chicken shawarma and seekh kababs. Both excellent!

The food is very good and really affordable. If you are non vegetarian and don't want to eat Kokani food, you can visit here. In Madgaon, this place is situated at old station road and easily can reach from Madgaon railway station. Chicken and Biryani we tried here and were really satisfied by the service and testy.

Best authentic food for non-veg lovers. (I haven't tried veg). Food is awesome, best place for food lovers.

Tandoori was not cooked properly<br/>It was raw and could not bite the chicken <br/>Tandoori was full of yummy flavours but a big failure as the chicken was not cooked properly<br/>Please work on it next time

Bad experience! Worst food ! <br/>Today we ordered chicken. Dry fry which turn into disaster potato fry wer burnt and 4 chckn piece fr 230 rs ! Hakka noodle looked like stale never visit this place again

The food was excellent... I tried the butter chicken, biryani and Butter naan... Everything was delicious...Only the prices were a little high, but due to its reputation, I guess you should expect that.

I don't understand how zomato a quality service provider register such hotles or dishes on their platform....Advise to zomato is at least taste the dish before registering it.....whole chicken biryani was pathetic....the curry was just like a flavor of curry added in water, rice was like two days old ......I can't explain....but if this is the situation ....then I have to switch out from zomato...or stop ordering food online.....you lost my trust zomato.....In south Goa...almost all good is horrible which is in your platform...you charged Rs.210/-.....if should be RS.21/- looking at the quality of food

The mutton chops are to die for. Dont miss their mutton biryani the taste is simply incredible. The owners are very friendly and take any special requests with a lot of accommodation. <br/> I had a great time there

I felt cheated as one if the item was missed, called the restaurant and got a stupid and careless response from the owner, stating we are now closed your missing item may be lying in the kitchen that you would get next morning.

The chicken /mutton biryani is the best in the south of goa which is their family recipe from way back.<br/>The mutton kheema is mouth watering and dry fry being the best seller amongst starters.<br/>Service is good with polite waiters and food is always served on time.<br/>Must try for ardent biryani lovers.

Servers are helpful, and polite. Food is quick to arrive too, also a lifesaver for out of state people who are not accustomed to goan cuisine, a highly recommend place just wish they would increase their delivery area.

Veg and egg biryani, although averagely tasty, seemed expensive for the portion size delivered. Service is swift though...

Ordered paneer tikka and veg soup. And it was the worst food I have ever eaten. Had to throw most of it away . Half of the soup was actually oil and it literally tasted like puke. The paneer was soo hard and also dripping in oil. I’m pretty sure the hygiene of this place is really bad as you smell the staleness in the food. <br/>Waste of my time and money.

Bad quality food, from what got delivered to me it doesn't seem like their kitchen is very hygienic. And Zomato can't deal with such issues properly and have very bad customer service.

Biryani if you order from zomato you get second class biryani with less quantity and less tasty<br/><br/>But if u order directly they send better quality food

Excellent tandoor chicken. The best I've had in Goa! I'm from North India, and true north indian food is rare in Goa. But this was true to its name. Nicely marinated, soft, well cooked and good pieces. Your food made me happy! Thanks 👍😊

To be honest I m highly disappointed with the simple chicken and mutton biryani i ordered... the biryani was just normal rice and boiled chicken that was like tossed in lil gravy n mixed in... the mirch ka salan was no less then soup... no thickness at all..<br/>N the raita was like buttermilk...so watery... it felt like the food was cooked for someone on dietary restrictions... only positive feedback was for the mutton in the biryani... full of flavour n tender to eat!<br/>

Want to have the best biryani in town? Shagun is THE place! One of the best biryani I have ever had! Absolutely no replacement. The taste has been consistent all these years.

Shagun, located on the Old Station road (so forgive the ambience), is truely a hidden treasure!<br/>I've discovered Biryani here, is the best I've ever tasted! Mutton and Chicken Biryani is amazing. Just the right amount of flavorful masala and heat, generous amount of meat, caramelised onions served alongside a masala gravy and raita that compliment it well.<br/>Another favorite here is Chicken Dry Fry! Highly recommended! Tender and succulent Chicken and fries marinaded in an Indian spice rub. Delish!<br/>Great service, affordable and great food!

Not value for money! I ordered chicken biryani and it gave me lots of rice with 2 bones. There was a time this place used to deliver the best biryanis in town but now I don’t recommend this restaurant after such a cheating experience.

No 1 biryani in town, everything else is also very good my favs mutton Biryani, chicken dry fry, chicken masala, butter chicken and tandoori chicken.

Very much affordable, great service and great food! The chicken 65 tastes just yummy 🤤 I have tried Chicken Schezwan fried rice and chicken 65. This restaurant never forgets to please it's customers. I love that they also send mouth freshners with each order. Keep up the good work guys!

I ordered a mutton biryani on Sunday for my father as a Father's Day special meal but sadly all bones were given in the biryani. I feel the owner should look into such matters to avoid disappointment to the customers. Am very sad my father got a bad meal.

I ordered the tandoori mixed boneless platter and chicken malai. The sheek kabab was a disapointment in the platter. It had an overwhelming taste of cardamom and besan. The chicken malai gravy was really good. Overall it was a good experience. Will I order again? Yes. A big yes.

Have been going to this restaurant for the last 3 years and the quality of food has remained exactly the same.. which is perfect!! Dramatically the options for my food has also not changed, it has always been the mutton kheems dry fry, the chicken dry fry, the mutton masala and of course the biryani!!! All excellent... we go in so often that the Waiter over there directly asks.. "you want the usual" we just have to nod our head and the food comes within 10 minutes!! Kudos and keep up the great work..

The best Biryani you would have in Goa. With a wide range of other Indian dishes that will leave you fingerlicking.<br/><br/>P.S if u feel like eating at the restaurant I suggest you go a bit early coz the Biryani runs out and the place gets quite full.

Undoubtedly a hidden gem in the mid of city. One of the best biryani i had here in Margao.<br/>Besides biryani we had Lahori kebab. It was great both per taste and quantity wise .👌<br/>But the show stealer for me was dry chicken fry; spicy marinated chicken fry served with french fries, fried green chillies and slaw, a burst of flavors. A must try.<br/>We also had falooda but it doesn't have ice cream,the only 👎. Chicken biryani is nice here. Contains all mixtures of herbs and spices very well, comes with raita and curry. Money value is satisfied. Nice

A good hotel, but their chicken hyderabadi is too good. The area is bit small. They should have a big area so that more people can accommodate. But the food items r good.

Although this place doesn’t have a lovely ambiance, but hey!! they serve the most epic flavor some biryani ever. It is a hidden biryani spot in margao market. But during lunch hours do go a little bit early as this place is always packed. Biryani lovers!!! Found your place.. Thank us later

Always go here for a good chicken/mutton Biryani. Lovely place run by some very friendly people. Pricing is decent, value for money. Service is decent. You will have trouble with parking. Ambience of the place is nothing great considering the location it's good.

When in Margao do try their Chicken Biryani,may be best dum Biryani served in The city which regards to the quantity, taste and quality. I bet no one can beat it.

Dnt go here. Worst restaurant in goa. There are rats in the kitchen. Cooks are without uniform. Sweat dripping in the food. The food and drug department should cancel their license. The owners have no clue how to run a restaurant.

The dum biryani is the dish to try here, over the years the taste is consistent and the quality has not dropped. The service is fast. Pricing is very reasonable.

This place is for mutton lovers. The new mutton chops in brown gravy are finger licking amazing. The mutton dry fry, the korma and the kheema are to die for. The cherry on this mountain of amazing food is the mutton dum biryani, must have!!!!!

Please don't expect a great ambiance at this place but do visit this place for its stunning food and great service. There is this guy called as ASLAM, ask specially for him and see the kind of service you get. Its a non vegetarian's paradise but me being a vegetarian can not resist to visit this restaurant at least once in a week. Aslam manage to get just One veg dish prepared here but even that is mouth watering.

Probably the best biryani in the south...The mutton biryani is to die for....loaded with mutton...literally more mutton than rice..The kheema with egg is pretty good as well...had the mutton dry fry as well...nothing spectacular though...friendly staff plus easy on your pocket as well...

This is the better halaal restaurant in the Gandhi market area, had kheema roti which was quite good. Chinese chicken Hakka noodles was also quite tasty. They have an Air conditioned upper floor which is quite congested but bright. The service here is the fastest. If you want good quick food, you can check in here, prices are reasonable as well.

Ok good. Ended up at this place since couldn't find many other halaal restaurants in goa. Fried chicken and shawarma was good. Chinese was bad. Kebabs were good. Ambience is not to be considered at all!
