Review B Bhagat Tarachand - Mumbai

Nishchay
I visited B Bhagat Tarachand for lunch with a friend. Having heard a lot about the place, I wanted to try out the thali. The thali turned out to be as good as I had imagined. The thali includes Paneer gravy, veg gravy, daal, raita, 3 chappatis / 2 tandoori rotis, pulav / plain rice along with sweet dish and snacks. One can also order the papad Churi or masala Khichiya. The food is made in ghee and the taste is amazing. For desserts, they have Falooda, Halwa and ice creams. Must visit place.

Must visit this place in Mumbai for sure. They provide the best daal in Mumbai. I’ve been eating here since childhood and take all my guests to this place. Their daal is delicious. You need to go there in advance as it’s always full as location is in shopping area. Must try Churi papad and the daal is must try. Do visit once if you are in Mumbai. Their quality and taste is always maintained.

Had dal baati and special thali. Dal baati was by far the best in mumbai.. Properly cooked baati , aromatic dal and ghee , garlic chutney and raita were excellent companion. Thali was good too, roti were drenched in ghee, paneer bhurji and pulav were good.. chole could have been better. Warm Moong dal halwa was the best

Good place for family dinner, their service is good, makes little bit delay for serving, but their test of meals are appreciated.

Just had their dal bati and it was amazing I mean delicious though it wasn't as per the actual Rajasthan style but it was yum crispy and delicious. I would recommend it 100%. With beer bottle chaas obviously

The one and ONLY B Bhagat Tarachand you need to visit in the area. Everything else fades in comparison to this one. No need to get confused which BBT is authentic or which one is real. This is the only real BBT as far as we are concerned. Situated next to the Mumbadevi Temple, this place has always been in our hearts and minds ever since I was a kid. Every time we used to visit Mumbadevi Maa for darshan, our next stop has always been this place. Despite all the chaos and rush inherently present in the area, eating their Thali sort of just makes you forget about everything else. We always go for their Special Thali that comes with a wide variety of dishes but you can also order à la carte dishes from the menu and they're just as good. The Thali is something else, though. There's Daal, Chhole, a Paneer dish, a Seasonal Vegetable dish, appetizer, raita, 3 amazing chapatis (for real, nothing beats their butter chapatis), rice/pulao, a sweet, and chhaas. The portion is big enough to satisfy a heavy eater's appetite or can even be shared between people. The Thali is not unlimited in terms of chapatis and rice and maybe even sweets, but you ask for more gravies and daal for sure. The staff is very polite. There's always a rush in the area but you can easily find a seat here since the establishment is about four floors high. Even when it comes to waiting, it's not more than 15-20 mins max. Going on an empty stomach is advisable since eat the thali is a feast. Prices are very reasonable in terms of the size of Thali. I thinks it's about ₹300/- for the Non-AC menu and ₹425/- for the AC menu for Special Thali. Other dishes are reasonably priced as well but seriously though, if you're not here for the Thali then you're here for the wrong reasons. Don't forget to visit the Mandir first. It's right next to the establishment and an added bonus. The Mandir is really delightful and very rewarding if you're a believer. The Prasad you can buy in the Mandir is also crazy delicious. That's a small secret for anyone who had read so far. Do try the Prasad. You won't be disappointed. I recommend going during lunch time for the best experience. If you've read so far, please consider liking if you found the review helpful. Thank you for reading.✌🏻

This is one of the best places for food. If you are a student, it might be a little expensive but once in a while its good. The food was delicious. We had lunch. The service was superb, the food was delicious. The atmosphere was family-like. I would recommend everyone to try this one. This is the real B Bhagat tarachand. The original one. So definitely visit it.

The food was good but the gravy was a little sweet and not full of flavours. Paneer pieces were less and a little hard.
Psycho Foodieeee
A best place for veg lunch and dinner specially rajasthani one. The best stuff there is paneer butter masala, butter roti, masala papad, dal khichdi, makai roti and chaas. These items we regularly order on our regular visit and the taste is better every time. The staff is very polite and courteous and the atmosphere of the restaurant is very cool and calm. The best one to look for of you are seecong for something to eat amidst shopping in Bhuleshwar area.

I usually visit the B bhagat Tarachand outlet at the forever bustling Zaveri Baza, it;s been a family favourite since years. There are 4-5 Bhagat Tarachands in a line so make sure you know the one you wish to try-THE FOOD TASTES different at all the outlets, as they have different owners.

I usually visit BT whenever i have an immense craving for some soulful indian food. Be it their snacks, thali’s or punjabi food, I think they do the best job. safe to say that this place is one of my go to Indian comfort food places. As per the recommendations from the reviewers and ratings i ordered paneer tikka masala which i realized it was a fine choice to order because the paneer was soft and fresh. The gravy was delicious and hot. The delivery was made on time. And the packaging was done perfectly

B Bhagat Tarachand Restaurant, Zaveri Bazar, Mumbai

No matter how much we love junk food, end of the day or two we crave for decent Indian home kinda food. Mumbai has plenty of eateries for every 100 metres, atleast a vada pav joint. After eating 'n' number of vada pav, I was craving for thali which is satisfying and of course delicious. B Bhagat Tarachand, a popular chain across Mumbai was recommended by some taxiwalas. I was staying in Fort region so Zaveri Bazar branch was the nearest one. Zaveri Bazar is a crowded place and hardly taxi will go through clearing the window shopping crowd. So I got out of taxi and took a short walk.

There were two B Bhagat Tarachand outlets in Zaveri Bazaar, one was renovation but a guy from that eatery took us to the other branch. I was wondering why there is initial 'B' in the restaurant name as 'Bhagat Tarachand' is not a generic name, but to my surprise there were two other restaurant 'K Bhagat Tarachand' and 'G Bhagat Tarachand' on the same lane! 😵

Narrow stairs takes you to the dining area on first floor. Small is not so big and usually crowded. With a single glance around, you will get know what to order there, the 'Thali' which almost occupied every table there. I ordered thali which is as shown in the picture plus a glass of chaas / butter milk. Their butter chapathi was one of the best, softest cahapathi I have ever had! I never liked dal before but trust me the dal fry which they served is the best dal I have tasted till now!! All other curries were excellent, pulav was nothing exceptional. Bhendi Fry ( ala- carte) which is usually recommended here wasn't for my taste.

Overall if you can ignore the noise of the crowd then this one of the best place to have Thali in Mumbai. @ Bhagat Tarachand

Taste: 4.5/5
Ambiance: 3.5/5
Service: 4/5
Value For Money: 4/5

We visited this outlet of B Bhagat Tarachand on weekday. It wasn't much crowded. Its ambience is good. We ordered
Khicha churi (3/5)
Veg Peshawari (4/5)
Special chapati in Ghee (5/5)
Lassi (5/5)
It's a good restaurant to have good quality veg food. Overall it was a nice experience!

Chaas is worth the value, great vegetarian food.

This is one of the cleanest bhagat tarachands in the area. However due to its locality, there is no parking even for a two wheeler and the road is always jam packed with vendors so reaching here is a task. However the food is good out here but a bit oily too. The food is well priced for the quantity and quality. You can also opt for the thali out here . We had ordered sev tomato, veg makhanwala and paneer kofta in mains, tandoori roti, butter chapati was just like home made roti, chaas and papad churi.
Deepakwadia
We have ordered from this place previously. However, the yesterday order of Veg. Kolhapuri was pathetic. The subji was not at all as per their standards.. it was poor..

A very good place to try good veg food. It is known for their North Indian food. The taste is very good and the quality of food is also good. Quantity and quality as per price is perfect. Must try dish is their dal khichdi.

Although this place is very famous for it's Desi north Indian food, I didn't quite enjoy the place. The restaurant is very small and conjusted and the food here is not quite good. Also the hygiene, I felt was very poor as the place was dirty and damp. Also, the staff do not seem very well trained as they cater to a large crowd at the same time which doesn't enable to give attention to everyone.
Ambience:. ⭐⭐
Food: ⭐⭐
Value for money: ⭐⭐⭐
Service: ⭐⭐

We visited yesterday the prices are inflated as compared to the size and portion served.
No standardization with respect to other Bhagat Tarachand in Mumbai. Less variety in the menu.

Location : This Outlet is located just outside Mumbadevi Temple...They have Seven other outlets all across Mumbai

Ambience : The Place is Fully Air conditioned...They also have some chairs kept outside to sit during the waiting period. We were lucky and did not have to wait

Food :We Ordered
1)Spl Thali
2)Sev Tomoto Bhaji
3) Makka di Roti
4)Masala Khichiya Papad

1)Spl Thali : The Thali is Quite Overated do be honest...It Consists of several Dishes But its the Dal Fry that is Magical here.. Thick Dal with the Lovely Tadka...so it is better to go with Individual Dal Fry than the Thali

Makki di Roti : It was Quite crisp a dish which you will not find in many restaurants

Tomato Sev Bhaji : Is a Blend of Tomato Bhaji & Sev with it
I just tasted it with roti and did not like it much as I am not a big fan of Tomatoes..So if you are a fan tomatoes the only go for the dish

Chaas : They Call it Kuttci Beer...It's a must have after a Heavy Meal...They do not add a lot of Masalas in it.. which does not make it very heavy in taste

Food here is to die for just awesomeness
Totally must try...
They make the best dal tadka.. Also try for special roti and diwani handi sabzi.. PAPAD churi and chaas is royally a must cz they are just amazing..
A perfect place for dining with your family. Bhagat Tarachand is all about desi food and its variations. The staff is quite friendly and the ambience is also pretty good.
Must try:
Khichha churi, Paneer Tikka sabzi, Veg thali, Rabdi
Images:
Paneer tikka sabzi, butter kulcha, khiccha churi, cheese pakoda, jeera rice and dal tadka, Jain thali

Creating a name in the market takes efforts but then maintaining the same requires efforts too. Visited this place after atleast a year and a half or maybe two and the visit was not that good. The food which we tried was okayish - only thing which I suppose was same is the Butter special roti apart from which from vegetables to the butter milk and appetizers were okay. Paneer butter masala which was one of their fav servings had too much tangy flavour; veg kohlapuri which is supposed to be spicy was the other war around.

Another issue is that the parking in the area is really bad and one cant find parking for even a two wheeler now.
Ankita
One of the best places in SoBo that serves thali. Everything in the thali tastes heavenly, esp. the ghee laden soft rotis. Must try !
Abhishek
So I ordered kadhai paneer today, the quality was below average it wasn't spicy at all. Though it was mentioned that it is going to be spicy.Heavily disappointed with this restaurant. I have been eating at this place for 6 years now. Didn't expect this kind of food. If they continue to serve this kind of food, I might stop eating at this place.

Best of rajasthani food can be tried at this legendary restaurant. It is mostly crowded so you can expect a long waiting time but luckily we got in quickly due to an off timing. Their food is totally delicious and I recommend a visit here to everyone.

Visited this place with friends and didn't have a great time to be honest.
The food served was not matching with the amount charged, the food was only served with lots and lots of butter but the taste was missing, they definitely need to improve on the overall aspect of their dinning experience.
The only good food I had was the glass of Buttermilk which was very good. Rest overall improvement is required for this place.

Food ordered.
1) Paneer kadai ⭐
2) Papad churi ⭐⭐⭐
3) Sev tamatar⭐
4) Butter milk ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Maginificent Place in Mumbai for North Indian Food!!! It was Saturday, around 2:45pm and guess what? At this time as well it was way to crowded... Woah!! That's surprising as I haven't seen any restaurant so much crowded with 20-25mins waiting during lunch time... So finally, when my family got the table, we ordered main course directly as we were damn hungry! We had ordered Papad Chura, Butter Milk(Chaas), Missi Roti, Butter Roti (Chapati with butter and heavenly soft), Paneer Tikka Masala, Dal Fry with Double Tadka, Veg Handi and Gulab Jaamun...

Every single thing we ordered were too good! Especially Butter Milk, Papad Chura and Gulab Jamun!! Pure bliss!!! A must try if you're tired and exhausted in the chaos of travelling...

Service - 5/5
Food - 5/5
Ambience - 4/5

P.S - I have visited the "Old B BhagatTarachand" which is shown in the photo!

Have been visiting this place since childhood and now the menu is by heart. A common spot for family get togethers. The ambiance is decent. The staff is friendly. The pure veg restaurant giving a lot of options to choose from. Quite well known for punjabi cuisine..
Starting with soup both munchow and tomato are good then masala khichya - must before main course is ordered.
The main course
Two subzi-usually panner tikka masala and veg kolhapuri with butter naan/ roti.
For biryani - it is usually hyderabadi biryani(a little spicy).
To end with the must and most recommended buttermilk which is served in beer bottles.
Also there are thali's which is more than sufficient for one person.

Bhagat Tarachand has been a classic restaurant for me since years. I've been coming here since a long, first to the other ones and then to this one as the ambience of this outlet is the best and the most hygienic amongst all the other Bhagat Tarachands. But my visit today after almost 1.5 years was extremely disappointing.

Firstly, the area has become worse day by day. There is no parking even for a two wheeler, and infact entering the area in a taxi is a task of it's own. The crowd around is B grade with the people staying on the road shouting and fighting with each other.

Coming to the food, I went with a masala papad, masala khichia, paneer butter masala, veg Kolhapuri, special butter roti and lassi.

• Masala papad & Khichia- The Tomatoes and onions weren't finely chopped, and the quality of Sev used on it was an absolute NO.

• Paneer butter masala- The gravy was a little bit too tangy for my liking, but the paneer was soft and the overall taste was fairly average.

• Veg Kolhapuri - It had a weird taste to it. It was mentioned that the dish is spicy but it was not at all spicy.

• Butter special roti- This one was still the same old thing, but I was sure that the butter used on it was not Amul, which was a little bit shocking for me since they've been using Amul since years.

• Lassi - The consistency was not the way it should be. It was a little thin to be called a good lassi.

I would have given it 1 star, but I've given 2 because of the goodwill they hold since years. I hope that they bring back the same quality and retain their loyal customers in this age of extreme competition in the industry.

This place is there in Mumvadevi since long time. It may not be very tasty over here but the taste is definitely unique and different. Do try out the Dal tadka here. It's the best

The right place for an Indian meal!

Visited this place for dinner on a weekend - as expected it was quite crowded and had a waiting time of about 20 minutes.

Ambience was not that great, do not keep expectations like a fine dine restaurant or a place with great ambience.

We ordered some of the well known items from the menu as follows:

Papad Churri - Heard and read a lot about this item so thought to give it a try. However, I found this to be overrated and did not live up to my expectations at all.

Veg Dehati - Very tasty a different vegetable from the regular ones, good shot at this one.

Butter Roti - Oodles of butter put on each roti and the rotis though being tandoori, are very different and nice. Something that is never seen elsewhere.

Daal ka sheera - Another name for this on - Moong daal halwa. Simply amazing, truly delicious. Made in lot of ghee and garnished with dry fruits, a very good option for deserts here.

Buttermilk - Rightly called the kutchi beer here, a great way to begin annd end your meal with this.

Definitely a very reasonable place and must visit repeatedly.
Ambience: 3/5
Taste: 5/5
Service: 4.5/5
Price: 5/5

The 1st place we think of or recommend when someone says they are in the mood for some vegetarian food! Even though we are hardcore non vegetarians this place makes us want to just come back for more! U just feel at home with their aromatic dishes prepared in ghee! We have a standard menu here and probably most of the staff knows it by heart too! Told u we feel at home wen they know we will have the regular!
A bottle of chilled chaas to start with, followed by papad churi. Paneer tikka dry for the appetiser, alu bhindi fry or a mixed vegetable fry along with dal tadka for the main accompanied by the most important dish on ur plate, THE SPECIAL ROTI (made with ghee) u can call for additional butter cubes on the side and sandwich it in between the piping hot rotis! Im in a food coma as i write this 🙈 If at all we still have place for our horrible sweet tooth, we order for the sweet lassi 1 by 2 “extra malai maar ke”. The service is very quick and prompt and the food is always piping hot wen served! Price wise this is easy on your pocket and in return you have a wholesome meal! They also have a set thali which u can opt for (limited)
Next time you crave for some homecooked Gujarati food this is your place!
Happy Eating!☺️

We traced down the origins of the amazing Bhagat Tarachand and what a heavenly experience it was.
Located in the oldest and beautiful streets of Zaveri Bazar is this restaurant that has 3 storeys and unimaginable seating. My friend couldn’t stop talking about this place and boy, was he justified.

The hospitality and the food are the finest combination of original Mumbai and some amazing food.

We called for a lot of stuff and everything was a delight.
-Alu Methi Tikki- it’s very seldom that we go out and have Alu Tikki, but this was definitely worth it and really soft and tasted like home food only.

- Papad Churi- This is a must try at this place and it has these delicious spices and onions to bring out the taste. And shouldn’t be missed. I’m an absolute fan of this place.

- Veg Makhanwala- this was a little on the sweet side, but it honestly doesn’t matter cuz it was delicious. A mix of all the vegetables and proper spices that do no harm to your taste buds at all.

- Dal Fry- another must try at this place as it has caramelised onions and what an absolute royalty this dal is.

We also ordered their ghee roti and it honestly looked like someone had dipped the entire roti in ghee and served it. It was so soft and delicious. Still makes me drool. The gulab jamun and chaas were an amazing support and the chaas, unlike other places wasn’t watery and was very thick in consistency and tasted amazing.

This place is a must visit and worth multiple visits. I love this place and the authenticity it holds to it. Must try for every Mumbaikar and non Mumbaikar for sure.

The cost was also pretty reasonable and we ended up paying 1000 for all the stuff we ordered which is fairly justified and this place was busy even on a weekday evening, but you’re assured to scores table on weekdays.

5/5 for everything be it food, hospitality, hygiene or variety.

Typical Indian food ❤️which will make you feel super happy. If you are someone who is looking for a meal without ghee and butter please come here on your cheat meal days 😁 This place serves food with good desi ghee, butter and malai (which is also healthy 😁) Ok now let’s talk about travelling to this place you must not take your car because it would be difficult for you to find parking space you rather take an Uber a cab or the train or travel on your bike which ever is convenient for you. Over all the ambiance is nice the food is amazing and I would totally recommend this place you must visit this place. And it’s good value for money for eg - If it is 5 people eating this meal with rotis your bill would go up to some 2000₹. One of the oldest restaurants in Mumbai, this name has now grown into many branches in and out of the city. Serving authentic desi food, we love coming here as and when our desi instincts call. A famous dish here is the sev tamater sabzi and the oh so tempting salted lassi.

It was flavorful and spicy; with proper fusion of masalas. Curd was also thick and good-tasting. Wafer (papad) was properly baked. Overall, a great combination; also one would get a taste of homemade food

Trying a new variety, special diwani handi turned out to be a very good one. Gravy had a taste of ginger and garlic combined with mix veggies and paneer; a good spicy dish. Butter roti was soft and properly baked. Paneer tikka a very common dish but most preferable one. It was good tasting and a bit spicy with proper proportionate of gravy and paneer.

Order arrived on time👍🏽. The food was hot and fresh when it arrived. Please pay attention on the packaging. One of the bag handle broke, we were lucky to catch the bag from the bottom or else the entire order of food would have dropped on the floor.

Bhagat Tarachand is a legendary outlet in Mumbai. Of you go to Zaveri Bazar, just outside Mumba Devi you will see nearly 6 outlets with the name Bhagat Tarachand but with a different prefix. They are basically from the same family and are later generations.

I believe that B Bhagat Tarachand is the original outlet among them all and have been a regular visitor here for the last one decade.

My favourites here are traditional dishes which we don't find anywhere.

1. Sev Tamatar bhaji
2. Bhendi Masala
3. Baingan Bharta
4. All ghee chapati (that is Bhagat Tarachand spl)
5. Kutchi beer (butter milk)
6. Masala Keecha papad

There is also an option of thali but I have never tried it. If you don't want to eat sitting in the traditional arrangement then there is AC facility upstairs.

This place is located at a walking distance from Mumbadevi Temple and famous for its food since many years.

Whenever you visit here, dont forget to have their Chaas in a Beer Bottle. Also, their food is very nice.

Had tried their Veg Dehati Sabzi with ghee phulka.

A good option for a lunch or dinner with family.

B Bhagat Tarachand... Located in the hearts of Mumbadevi(hindu goddess). This hotel is famous from last many decades. They serves awesome veg food they are specially famous for their varieties of thali's. I have tried.. they serve food in our traditional way in steel plates. One of the rare places to where I plan a visit to eat vegetarian food. The bhindi is the best you can have anywhere else in the world. Do visit.

Bhagat Tarachand is our family favourite food joint if we are in that part of town. Chilled Chaas served in beer bottles is their usp. Love their papad Churi, khicha Churi, baingan bharta, sev tamatar bhaji, aloo tamatar bhaji, dal, chapati, ... the list is endless... basic ambience, good service.
Atit Eats More
TBH, I heard this place from my parents.
Mom being a vegetarian, told me one of the best Veg fare is BT.
Had to try this. The place, the food has a bit of the Gujju-Sindhi touch.
The place promotes a sort of 'Ghar ka khana' with their (still) original legendary taste, which is still untouched and not changed.
A chaas in a typical bear bottle kinda quirk, a historic way of serving the butter chapati, the sev-tomato curry are some of the most obvious things one has at BT, Cauz surely they are unbeatable.
One who hasn't yet been here, needs to be here the next time they are in town.

Everything available here is good. The butter milk here is awesome which is served in a beer bottle. Try the Punjabi sabji here, I normally order paneer tikka masala. The makai Roti is also good. And also the dal ka sheera and Papad churi is yum. The dal fry n Jeera rice are also a good try.

Bhagat Tarachand Mumbai has the most authentic taste of India Food.
The Dal Fry and Butter Rotis Are my all time favourite and not to forget the Chaas.

One Of The Oldest And Best Restaurants In Mumbai Has Really Good Ambience And Some Authentic Dishes Such As Papad Churi, Dal Fry Etc And One Unqiue Drink Is Chaas In A Beer Bottle (Non Alcoholic) Would Recommend That Especially In Summer.

Awesome vegetarian food! My most favourite- their daal, butter chapatis and gulab jamuns
It gets pretty crowded at the outlet so it’s preferable to order at home. The packing is superb without spills.

If you want to gorge on some amazing North Indian food, Bhagat Tarachand is the place. They have around 7-8 outlets all around the city.

Roti’s soaked in a dollop of butter, paneer gravy, pappad churi, yellow dal with onion flakes tadka and of course butter milk in a beer bottle are on my list whenever I visit the place.

Their Thalis are one of the best I have ever eaten with so many loaded options. It is definitely worth visiting. And yes do not expect much out of the ambience, as it is a typical place which has been concentrating on the taste and quality of the food only.
Shubham Bafna
The food I ordered was not at all tasty and all of us had to bear hunger just beacuse the food had no salt, no spices and no taste in it.
I have been to bhagat tarachand many a times but this time they did let me down.
Anuj Malaiya
One of the best place in Mumbai for authentic veg Indian Food. I find this place a bit crowdy but yes the wait was worth.
They have a lot of variety and their menu consists of so many indian flavours.
Must try Malai rabdi for sweet , its literally the best when served cold.

Favourite foods - khicha churi, chaas, makke ki roti, adraki and lehsooni vegetable preparations, butter roti
Great food. Long waiting time as well

I had called up at the restaurant to inquire which sabjis are there in the thali before ordering online and I was told paneer and chana masala but I was given aloo sabii instead of it. Dont accept orders if you cant provide the items which you promised or you should have called me before placing some other sabji. The taste of the sabji was terrible.

Best marwari restrauant in mumbai. Today possibly i visuted this place for 5th time in short span. You dont go this place for window views or ambience in the place or kind of servicw. Because you aint getting anything like that here. So probably zero points for that. But you visit this place for its food tastes and the way it is served.
Wht to order: Daal batti in day time with a bottle of chaas and papad churi.
Butter chapati, and sev tamtar papad churi and chaas in night. You dont need desserts but faluda is good. The way chapati is served drenched in butter makes it all the more delicious even before you eat it.
Do give it a visit if you are a die heart fan of marawari food and missing it. This will make your day for sure.

One of the most iconic places of Mumbai!! Finally visited this place for Sunday lunch and even though it was full and we had to wait, I realise it was totally worth it!!! Totally enjoyed the food, Lassi and Chaas. Definitely visiting it again!!

Staff doesn’t have manners , and are not well trained, and lack basic ethics.
There is no proper waiting system , the one whom they know , will enter first , the rest others would have to wait for hours
This is a pretty good place to visit with your family as it gives you that vibe . This is known for it's authentic Punjabi Cuisine in this city . Food that we had here was worth the price .
Things that we ordered were-
Special Thali -Thali which was served with the chaas first which was absolutely delicious, 2tandoori roti / 3 chapatis with ghee , dal , 3 subzis, gulab jamun as dessert , dahi wada , rice/pulao, dahi Wada

Paneer Biryani - Which was also very tasty

Overall Rating -
Taste-5/5
Ambience-4/5
Value for money-4/5
Service-5/5

If you are in search of Punjabi food then Sindhi food can be a good substitute.
After recommendation from many people, I decided to visit this place. Although, it has many branches but one at the marine lines is the oldest one. It is located in old Mumbai's busy market area. Once you get on the main market street, you might get confused here, as almost every other resturant on this street is named Bhagat tarachand. 🎉
After hunting for a while, we reached our destination. We tried their most famous kaju curry sabzi, paneer chatpata sabzi and dal fry. Kaju curry was a yellow based thick gravy and had a lots of kaju (Cashews) in it. Dal fry was thick and had finely chopped fried onions in it. Paneer chatpata was a thick gravy with generous amount of paneer in it. But the best part was the butter roti served here. Nicely cooked roti with a chunk of amul butter on the top. •
Cuisine : kaju curry sabzi, paneer chatpata sabzi, dal fry
•
Taste : 4.99/5
•
Serves: 2-3 person (portion size) •
Spice-o-meter: 3.0/5 (perfect) •
Place : B Bhagat Tarachand •
Price : ₹ 190 for kaju curry, ₹ 190 for paneer chatpata and ₹ 100 for dal fry (exclusive taxes) •
Location: Marine Lines, Mumbai •
Ambience : 4.5/5 (try AC seating area on second floor) •
Service : 4.85/5 (its swift) •
Verdict : all the North Indians looking for perfect North Indian food should visit this place. Food here is "utterly butterly delicious". I would highly recommend this place. •
•
↪️Follow @delhifoodieinmumbai for food updates.↩️•

K and B Bhagat tarachand!
And as they say legends will always be legends! And BTC is something like this’ particularly the food is great!
And always will be!
Paneer chatpata is great and the mouth watering desi ghee wali roti is always awesome! 😍 in love with the food!

So first off, the restaurant doesn't really live up to the hype surrounding it's name. I would suggest a visit here only if you're in the area and probably shopping.

We ordered the Sev sabzi, which was strictly ok. I have had better at smaller restaurant. The quantity is generous and that's the saver. We had the butter naam and butter roti, which was good.

Next was paneer biryani, which was better than the sabzi. One surprising thing is they don't serve cold drinks, only buttermilk and lassi. Might only be me, but I expected it. Overall a decent experience ,can be a one time try.

Cheers,
Denis

Only go with no expectation about ambience you will get 0 am but i bet 200 on taste must try sev tamato and dal ka shira its a typical indian dish
Also great hospitality and service

Eating here reminds me of eating thalis with my parents before they passed away, every dish is good in its own way andsabzi meri favourite hoti hai

Bhagat tarachand is one of the best north indian cuisine serving chains in Mumbai. It is well known for its hospitality and service. The must tries are - chaas/buttermilk (4/5) and papad churi (3.5/5), iconic bhagat tarachand dishes. For the main course, we ordered paneer tikka masala (3.5/5) and veg makhanwala (2.5/5) along with special butter chapati (4/5).

B Bhagat Tarachand is the exact family kinda place that you want to drop in at for a perfect lunch. There famous papad churi is damn nice and so is their chaas. We also had roti with veg kadhai and it was acceptable. What is the USP is their kind and welcoming service. And it's a nice stop before u head out to shop at churchagate.

When you are looking for a good place to eat the first thought that comes to your mind is lets go BT at the same time one more thought follows which is which one is the real one because there are so many that for a first time person it is very difficult to judge which one is the best. The same happened with us so we were like playing “akad bakad bombay bo in bombay” to end our carving.

At last we ended up in the palms of “B” bhagat tarachand which we also later came to know that B stands for a distinguishing letter but not a short form.

It was a sunday night and the place was quite occupied as we waited for almost 45 minutes to end our starving.

Coming to food nothing extraordinary was offered on menu its the same stuff which rotates around paneer and all.

So we ordered something different apart from the regular goes i.e. kaju curry and sev tamatar which disappoints us a little bit as there was no taste in the kaju curry apart from the kaju and sev tamatar was also okies type. But looking for some amazing stuff in breads than u must try this place as here I tasted one of the great baked naan and tandoori rot which worked well for us.

Do start your meal with a papad churi and chutey on going chach and end it with a desert where rabadi and gulab jamun is a must try.

Ambiance is ok not so happening and the space is little small to occupy larger public.

Staff was very good and the pan wale bhaiya near the restro is next level don’t know whether you like his pan or not but he will make you laugh.

In totality a good place to go need to improve taste of their main course.
Hungry Young Man -AmisH
This particular kaladevi lane houses around 5 bhagat tarachand restaurants, and even though every single one of them is really good, just one of then is the best and the oldest. Which i bet is this one, B Bhagat Tarachand. I don't claim that, but my girlfriend, who remembers coming here often for sunday lunchs, does. Anyways, just felt like that might be a useful piece of information so shed some light on that. And now on my experience over here....

Comparing to the other Bhagat Tarachand outlets I have been in the city, this one too has very good service. The staff is poilte and tends for your needs, trying to give you a good dining exprience as a whole. There isn't much of an ambience as such, but still you will see traves of efforts made to make this place look good. Like there are subtle and simplistic paintings on the wall. Apart from the service being good, its also very prompt so the efficiency of their staff is commendable. Now the food,

We wanted to have Aloo Tikki or Paneer Pakoda, but the waiter informed us that it can take anywhere between 20 to 40 minutes, upto which we did not want to wait. So settled for the all tine favourite, MASALA PAPAD. What made me like this very casual yet yummy snack is that they uses a bit thick version of sev, which has a different, richer taste and while other masala papad are chatpata this one was bit high on the spice level due to use of red chilli powder, which to my surprise, I really enjoyed!

The gujju beer, BOTTLE CHAAS is something I never, ever miss to have from here. Its thick, its rich and its creamy! Something you just fall in love at first sip!! Its THE BEST, plain and simple. Nothing beats it, nothing ever will!

For thr main course we had BUTTER CHAPATI and PANEER CHATPATA. Now judging by the size, it felt that we would still be hungry by the end of the meal, but man its so rich in taste that I struggled, literally struggled to had three normal sized chapatis! The amount of butter they give is so generous that you 3 butter rotis from here and you will suffer from high cholestrol levels! Its soft and savoury butter cubes either melts away over the warm chapatis, and if not there, then on your tongue. And talking about the richness, the sabji doesn't lag behind. Filled with heavenly soft paneer chunks, veggies and lip smacking gravy, I bet you'd never had such a delicious sabji at this price, period!

And this combo is killer!! Just go and have it!!!

As I mentioned above, I literally struggled in having 3 chapatis, so there wasn't any space for desserts. Yes sad I know, but the ugly truth....

BHAGAT TARACHAND has aways felt like home, and it always will!! I am sure this feeling is mutual.

Happy Burping!!!
Tanmay Pandharipande
The thali was pretty normal. I think the place is quite hyped up. Definitely the 'dal tadka' in the thali was mind blowing. But other items were okay. You get 1 sweet dish and chaas!

Thali place...!!

Ambience ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Food⭐⭐⭐
Service⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Bhagat Tarachand a well know brand has lot many outlets. After shopping from crowfard market this is the closest outlet. As heard a lot about them thought of giving them a try.

This is i suppose the oldest outlet of all, as the structure is very basic and management here is very quick. When we entered, the place was jam pack on a Saturday afternoon.
But thanks to their management our number came in just 10 mins.

Service is also very quick, as my server was a old grandpa but he welcomed us well and served us as quick as possible. Only drawback why i deducted one mark was when i ask them for a recommendation , they said me to call for Paneer bhurjee and so i ordered. But the taste of this Paneer bhurjee was not upto the mark.

What i ordered :-

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Papad churi⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Paneer bhurjee⭐⭐
Makkey di roti⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Do order for Paneer makhanwala or some other options.
Do not go for Paneer Bhurjee.
The franchise keeping it’s own real taste in front.. love the food here. Just need to be a bit spicy and rest is okay! cant wait to go again

The grand daddy of thali places... With so many bhagat tarachand around it becomes quite difficult to ascertain which or who is the best and the oldest.
Leaving that aspect aside this place is in a busy lane in south Mumbai and luckily a public holiday got us parking and and an easy walk to the restaurant.
The restaurant is actually a maze itself with a sister R Bhagat Tarachand right next to it. Three floors and finally you get to the AC section and you are seated and good to go. Loads of a la carte options but the best bet is to go for the thali. Priced decently and and food absolutely delicious. Options of ghee roti and puri, select yours.. this is where the service comes in. They don't just dump 3 rotis at the start. You start of with two then one follows piping hot with loads and loads of ghee. The veggies included a panner bhurji, mix veg. Needless to say with ghee.. again delicious. The dal was also flavourful and left a great after taste. The other parts of the thali are an aloo tikki, raita and gulab jamun. Gulab jamun was soft and amazing.

Overall a great meal. Next time would be the brother next door R Bhagat..

Have been hogging here since my childhood days. Still cannot find such similar taste anywhere. My usual menu - Alu methi fry without green chillies. dal fry tadka, special roti with ghee and bottle of chhaas. Heaven after my home's food.

Lovely food. One of the best i havd ever head. Ww ordered papad churi. Which was yummy. Other all items were equally good. Definitely coming back here. Good that it has opened in my area as well (borivli)

One of the most popular veg places in the town. The standard order is Paneer, Butter-soaked Rotis, Yellow Daal (I prefer without tadka), and Buttermilk in beer bottle.

This rating is purely for the service. They have the AC section on the 2nd floor which can be reached through some very steep stairs.

I had taken my parents for whom climbing was difficult and they refused to serve Jain Thali at the lower levels even if I told them I will pay the price of AC. Weird, very weird.

Finally I had to make them climb the steep stairs because of the non cooperation of the staff.

And I had redirected my cab to take a 20 min detour and walked further 400 m to reach this place.

Disappointed. Very much.
