Review India Jones - Mumbai

Excellent food with good service. Needs to renovate the place. It's looking old and worn out.

Amazing Food the whole experience was great, friendly and kind waitress. The food can't be better and the prices are fair for the portion size. Always a great spot to get great food.

Excellent Restaurant!!! Excellent Ambience!!! & Good Food , Wonderful Range Covered. Best part is they have few good Items in affordable range. Thai Chicken Herb Soup, Nasi Goreng & Teriyaki Prawns - Taste was very good but would have liked bigger serving though. But overall, Very good Experience. Have your friends treat you there!!!! Bon Appetite!!!

Great atmosphere and superb service. The menu is extensive and a bit confusing, but the staff help with the selection. They lost 1 star because the food has become a bit too spicy recently.

It’s the best Asian restaurant in the Mumbai, marine Drive area. We have been invited to the restaurant by Kamal Kaur, the GM of Trident Hotel. The food is super delicious, staff friendly and helpful. They really take care of us, we tried a lot of dishes, starts, main course and dessert. Everything we tried none forgettable taste. Thanks from my heart, for great night with my family.

One can tell that they take great effort in accomodating patrons. The Mutter Paneer is the best I've had in India. What I'll remember though is the genuine smiles that the staff had

Have you ever been in need for some food which is tasty & healthy as well???
Then you're search finishes here.
This restaurant probably serves the best health food in town.
Food taste is awesome
Food quality is superb
Food quantity is on the lower side
Food after effects are not ar all acidic

Overall a must for any food lover, a 'before you die' spot for health food lovers.

Only negatives are the food quantity , wrong food serving & trying to make us pay for that.

Otherwise could've got a perfect five.

We had been to this place to celebrate my birthday. The Asian cuisine here is amazing. Nasi Goreng rice was extremely well prepared. The staff was very courteous and the service was decent. Finally they surprised us with the Alaska baked cake which was the icing on top that evening. Would recommend this place for anyone looking for a quiet and peaceful dinner time to celebrate your special day.

India Jones is not what it used to be. At one point I really liked the food here. But not anymore. It's quite average. And considering the price one has to pay, really not worth it at all.

The service was quite slow too. Definitely not worth the high price it comes for.
Aashna Nowlakha
Love the food here always
The Teppan-Yaki asparagus and tofu, a fried corn kernels, edamame dimsums & the ice cream cake are my favorite is soo yummy!! Even the ambiance is great

One of the finest restaurant in mumbai to go for impeccable asian food. Less variety as compared to other restaurants in terms of breakfast buffet menu but soothing ambiance, delicious food, friendly staff, and amazing desserts makes it a complete package.

Overall a good experience... Food was good. Staff was courteous and helpful in selecting the dishes... Looking forward to try some new dishes in future.
Princess Niritika
A very mediocre taste to the food, service was good, however when the restaurant is not busy the management should not be fussy about the size of the table vs the number of guests ! The presentation of the food was good but it did not live up to the Trident standard in terms of taste...

We stayed at Trident and our breakfast was complimentary at India Jones. Food was nice but service was slow. Even variety was less as compared to their firangipani restaurant. Tastes well. Recommended

Lots of memories with this place. Most delicious oriental food in Mumbai. Most friendly and professional staff that you will every find anywhere, they will make it special for you every time without fail. Excellent options for vegetarians.

To be fair, we walked in when the kitchens were to close at around 3 so they were gracious enough to accommodate us. Having said that, since we were left with just the basics of the menu, it was not an experience that blew our minds. We had the Hakka noodles which was on the spicier side and the steamed rice with veggies in black bean sauce which was okay. Hopefully will do a revisit to see what the fuss is all about the food but the service was great!

I was here in trident for about a month so I can safely say this place was amazing. I cannot emphasize enough on how great the staff is. They’re so friendly and welcoming. They make you feel so comfortable. The food is extremely good as well. I would definitely recommend this place. Thank you guys for a lovely stay!

WOW! Simply an amazing culinary experience ! What a fantastic restaurant which speaks royalty. We were guests st the hotel just strolling around on Christmas Eve when we were invited by Chef Jitu Phukan in for a meal.

Damini at the front was superb in accommodating us quickly and our wonderful wonderful servers with experiences of over 30 years, yes that’s right, 30 years. Mr. ANIL and Mr. Abdul Rehman have been with the Oberoi group right since it’s conception and their par excellent standards of service and customer satisfaction are proof of that.

We were suggested the Black pepper pomfret for appetisers, one of the best dishes we have ever had till date. Simply perfect, clean and superbly packed with a simple zesty flavour of black pepper. Next we got a vegetable stir fry which was so yum, we were worried there was corn starch in there, but it was made Yummies by potato starch. Next, for our main course we got a lovely Pad Kee Mou, which I think was better than any version we have had till date of the same fish all over the world.

Each recommendation came straight from the chef Jitu who is boss when it comes to his art. He is also a great human being, very thoughtful, and knowing it’s our anniversary treated us to this insanely yum ice cream cake.

This particular meal, this experience, the treatment meted out to you, the way you are made to feel, makes you understand why Trident- OBEROI Group and their umbrella of vintage restaurants India jones (surviving and leading for over 30 years now in the same spot), are some of the most premiere brands in this industry since all these years.

Thank you to the team and Chef Jitu Phukan !!!

P.S. for the hotel, the washrooms on this floor need urgent renovation and a makeover if possible 🙂🙏

One best restaurants in Mumbai to try out impeccable Asian stuff, the decor ambience and the feel of the restaurant is completely different and minimalist from the other restaurants nestled in one of the five star properties Trident Nariman Point. From dimsums to authentic oriental soups noodles rolls , they also have a live tepanyaki counter where the Chef showcases his skills and makes a variety of dishes, This place is highly recommended to try the best Asian food.
Service 4/5
Food. 5/5
Ambience 4/5
Quality. 5/5
Overall a good place..

It’s been ages since I visited this place. Always wonderful to be back with the familiar. Service is great as always - the personal touch is warm and welcoming. The 3 of us started out with the Non-Veg Dimsum Basket - lamb, chicken, prawn and prawn/ pork - 2 pieces x 4 varieties. They serve a spicy pungent chili sauce with it - it is irresistible but sure gets ur sinuses cleared.

The mains included 2 dishes from the Wok Range - Gan Guo Chicken, well balanced, and Pork Bulgogi (comes with separate white rice), melt in ur mouth. Accompanied by a Bokkumbap - a delicately flavored/ balanced rice prep. Desserts included the Matcha Rasberry & Lemongrass Brûlée - good but not exceptional. One of us had a Brazilian Mohito as well - refreshing!!

A hidden secret is their Baked Alaska - please ask for it. This sits way above all the dishes. The Korean dishes were really great while the Chinese ones were good. Desserts - not really exciting. I think they have shrunk their Curries and increased their Wok range.

Total costing a bit over 8k - value for money for a great dining experience.

India jones is located in trident hotel.
Visited here for lunch with one of my friend. Interiors are excellent and ambience was also good.
had Japaneses food which was worth of money.

Delicious Hoi sin chicken, a Chinese Cuisine. All time favorite view of Marine drive. Hot sin chicken is spicy comes spicy in consideration to Chinese spice which Indians would deny to call it Spicy. So before placing an order ask the Steward to make it spicy as per Indian Tadka. Well the staff is very cooperative! Overall 5 stars.

Incredible experience! Loved the food and the service. Would definitely come back here again. Had the tepenyaki chef's menu and every single item was excellent, specially the fried rice, fish and lobster.

India Jones is a chinese restaurant. So it has amazingg food and the staff is very friendly. Dimsums are the best here. Surmai dimsums are a must try. Overall it was a great expirience :)

Very good food, nice ambience and a great service.

If you want authentic Chinese food in South Mumbai then India Jones is your best option.

A little high on price but serves superb food.

Pina colada is superb and Thab thim krob is the best eggless dessert.

This place has to be my absolute favourite for Thai Food. The taste, the ambience, the service, everything is spot on. The only thing which bothers me is the price point which in my opinion is a tad bit overpriced. I feel stupid to pay Rs. 1000 for a bowl of crispy corn kernels & Rs. 1200 for 8 pieces of Cottage Cheese Steak. The taste however is spot on but really please consider reviewing the price! All in all, my all time favourite place

On my recent stay at Trident, I enjoyed their amazing breakfast buffet and I must say that they have a vast variety. Continental, indian , north Indian, juices, cereals and almost everything they could serve was included in the buffet.
Sonalsushilarora
This is not what is used to be back in the day.

Probably one of the hottest restaurants a decade ago is now a shadow of itself- reasons for it being their failure to improve the menu and maintain consistency- all in all lackadaisical management

Happened to visit trident for some work over the weekend when hunger pangs landed me at India Jones. It's not Indian as the name suggests. It's basically a gimmick for Indiana Jones travelling to South east Asian countries for some awesome culinary experience.
We had
1) the dimsum basket : it contained chicken, prawns and lamb dimsums it was well prepared and piping hot and good in flavor. 4/5
2)grilled prawns with sweet soy and onions with roasted garlic : taste wise it was pretty good but I wish the prawns were bigger. 3.5/5
3) Thai noodles : it was oozing with flavors of basil and garlic. 4.5/5
4) kaffir lime cheesecake : good consistency and wasnt very overpowering so pretty nice. 4/5
5) star anise creme Brulee : very different from the creme Brulee I have eaten hence I ordered. I was skeptical but surprisingly it was nice and with hint of star anise. 4/5

Only thing that not made me give them 5 was that the service was extremely slowwww
But all in all it was a good experience.
Thank you for having us India jones
We wanted some Asian flavours and so we ended up at India Jones. The restaurant takes you on a journey to all the Asian countries spanning from india, Burma, Singapore, China and Thailand.

The decor had a magical and classic touch to it.

Food: We ordered the asparagus dumpling which was perfect to our taste buds along with sweet-chilli cottage cheese (it had a unique flavour to it). For our mains we indulged in Mapo Tofu with rice and Singaporean noodles. It was absolutely delicious!

To our surprise, we received a complimentary dessert of Tiramisu and a heart shaped cookie.

Hospitality- the staff were cordial and friendly.

I’m one sentence, it was an absolute delight dinning at the restaurant!

Definitely a must visit and!

A die hard fan of The Baked Alaska dessert. As you break into the blow torched merang, you will be surprised with the different elements of the dessert with each bite you take. The ice cream so soft and finely textured, leaves a great taste on the palate.

A good spot with variety of dishes.. I m just so much impressed with the hospitality like it has become my go to place now.. From dimsums to everything ..must must must visit here!

The food was full of flavor and it was really delicious. I would recommend to everyone and all of my friend. I really enjoyed the service, Planning to visit again

It's a Trident restaurant and you expect only the excellent - from food to service. The hostess was really nice. And although she said there were no tables available, she spoke to people inside and got one arranged for us quickly.

The food is great. Although the service standards need a lot of attention. We had 3 guests join us as we finished our starters. And the waiter who came to lay down their plates literally threw the serviette on their plates!! He didn't drop them or place them. While serving food, one can't dump a Chinese gravy next to crab butter garlic unless they are in separate bowls! In fact, the two shouldn't be served in the same plate at all. Distinct flavours need to be savoured on their own. The dessert took forever to come, although by then, all of us wanted it to be done and get going since it was late. And then they done accept Amex cards. For a place that probably has high profile guests staying with them, this is quiet strange.

Great service is not just about serving food. At a place like Trident, it's also being sensitive to guest needs.

Wonderful dining experience, only let down by slightly undercooked vegetables.
We ordered dim sum and Chinese Veg; both of which were delicious, but alas the vegetables were only slightly undercooked.
The ambience was very pleasant; the decor was done tastefully and pleasant not to have an overdose of bling! Despite being sat right next to the open kitchen, we could not hear any noise nor smell any food coming from anywhere but our own plates. The only disappointment was that the restaurant was kept very cold by air conditioning (a very common trait to most Mumbai establishments), but to the credit of the staff, shawls were provided the minute we requested them...absolutely loved that!
Above all, the service was virtually impeccable. Staff were extremely knowledgable on the menu and on hand almost all the time but not in an overbearing way. The only let down was that it took a while to get the attention of a waiter to pay the bill at the end, despite there being about 5 in the immediate vicinity! As soon as one eventually saw us frantically waving our hands, however, he immediately rushed to us without any question.
Overall a great experience and we would certainly return again!

Lovely ambience and great food. What stood out the most though is the hospitality. The nicest staff I have ever interacted with. Special thanks to Chef Stefan for all the attention to detail and for making the food to our specification. I’d go back again any day.

Amazing food their yakitori..... Or even their dimsums are amazing the tom yum soup is amazing and they have this lovely side place where live noodles and rice is prepared it's an amazing experience lovely cuisine and lovely ambience with lovely service the staff welcomes you warmly

Loved the food especially the Pan Fried Chicken & Corn Dumplings & Black Fungus with Tofu soup. Good hospitality. Small feedback would be although the staff is extremely courteous & inviting, they lack the finesse of service one sees in most fine dining restaurants (e.g. how the dishes are kept on the table). That doesn't take away from how good the food & how warm the staff is. Big ups to exec sous-chef Jitu Phukan who was personally interacting with all the diners. Will visit the place soon to try out more from the menu. Cheers!

I have literally grown up by visiting the Trident. We go there almost every weekend for lunch or dinner. Visited India Jones after a really long time. The ambiance was good. We were welcomed well enough by almost all the waiters. We tried the Korean set menu lunch course along with Wok and stir fried lamb dim-sums. The dim-sums were by far the best ones I have ever eaten. The Wok was really good. The Korean set menu was so good. The food was full of flavor and it was really delicious. Special credits to the Chef who had the most amazing Tappanyaki Skills. I was awestruck and thoroughly entertained. For desserts we had Tiramisu ice cream (which was the best) and Warm chocolate cake. Indeed, a great Sunday!

The place has a very nice ambience . The food and the crew is nice except the lamb dimsum was not Verny tender to have and he he prawns which we ordered was not at all juicy. But yes the fried rice was nice and the staff is well mannered and trained to pamper

A good spot with variety of cuisines and dishes. Dishes priced a bit high but taste, service, atmoshpere and quality justified everything. It's also a suitable choice for vegetarian foodies as the dishes I tried were fabulous.
FoodieForLife
I went to India Jones with my husband to celebrate our anniversary. The food was good, the ambience was relaxing and peaceful with mesmerizing view from the window. The only catch here being that the food was overpriced for the quantity being offered. We had Nonya dimsums (4 pcs) which cost us around 850! They could have done better with the quantity.
Ayush Jain
Great place for thai and Chinese food. We ordered olive leaf rice, tofu with beans , and pad thai. The food was good. Three distinct flavours making it a perfect meal.
Will definitely go back for more.

While everything on the table last night was incredible, the desserts definitely took the cake (haha see what I did there?!)

The kaffir leaf cheesecake was a revelation. Kaffir lime infused Philly cheese, crumbled coconut macaroons, mirengue, hand churned coconut ice cream, and of course, a berry compote. Though I do thing the berry was unnecessary (or should have been replaced by something like a gooseberry jam), every element on this plate was stunning. What a delight.

I'm an ice cream fan. Anything cold and sweet is my favourite thing on the menu. When I saw the handchurned ice creams on the menu, this one was the automatic choice. Fig, cashew and black sesame with a black sesame brittle. Honestly, I could've just had this all night and been extremely happy. The sweetness was balanced with the woody, nutty flavours of the brittle (of which there should've been at least a truckload) and the base was delicate and creamy with not a grainy bite in sight. So yum!

A special shoutout to the incredible service at India Jones. When I called to book the table, they asked me if we're celebrating anything special and I told them it's my dad's birthday. They made sure that we got a nice, private table tucked in a corner, kept the service discreet, and got this amazing cake for dad! It was a good old ice cream cake, and honestly as good, if not better, than the other desserts we ordered. It's always nice to be treated well, and the folks at all the Trident restaurants do it with perfection.

I don't care about what people have to say about this place. All I know is that it's the holy grail of teppanyaki for me. The food is spot on every time I eat there. I could almost get a tent and camp there for food, every day! One would be retarded not to eat here...
Amol Joshi
We went Dim Sum buffet which consisted of Soups, Variety of Dim Sums and a Dessert. Soup was great, Dim Sums variety was good and were delicious, however there was a little gap to serve us all types of Dim Sums which made our tummy full with Initial ones, so we couldn't go for all Dim Sum variety,Desserts were ok, not many choices.

Good in taste and nice ambience. One of my favorite restaurant. Good food quality and nice presentation and the staff are really friendly over there. Service is also good

The ambience is beautiful. The location is amazing. The food there was great too. The staff is pretty courteous too. Their seafood burnt garlic rice is yummy and loaded with prawns. Over all experience was great.

Charlie Munger, the legendary investor, once said a value investment is one where you acquire “more than you are paying for”. India Jones is certainly not a value investment; you can quite easily end up spending in excess of 6-7k INR a head for an experience that can be found elsewhere for less. However, on a non-relative scale one cannot deny the food is excellent and the service is impeccable.

**Peer Analyis (prices are approximate)

Dish 1 (2x Premium)

India Jones, Trident

Crispy Salt and Pepper Tofu~975 INR

Peer: Bastian, Bandra

Crispy Silken Tofu with sesame peanut sauce/chilli oil ~500 INR

The Salt and Pepper Tofu at India Jones is a delightful dish. The portion size is decent, the tempura batter is light and the diced green and red chillies are used to perfection . However can you justify a 2x premium over Bastian’s equally excellent Crispy Tofu? No.

Dish 2 (2x Premium)

India Jones, Trident

Asparagus in Tepinyaki~950 INR

Peer: Yautcha, BKC

Stir fried asparagus with vegetarian chicken ~495 INR

Trident’s offering is plate of small asparagus skewers with a few drops of Yum Yum sauce on top (Yum Yum is a bit like thousand island dressing for those not so acquainted with Japanese cuisine). The portion size is equivalent to a canape portion. I’m not quite sure why sweet chill sauce was offered as well. For half the price, one can have Yautcha’s equally delicious and aggressively spiced main of asparagus spears and vegetarian chicken.

Dish 3 (3x Multiple)

India Jones, Trident

Chinese Style Cottage Cheese ~1150 INR

Peer: Pick any restaurant, ~350-400 INR

Nothing memorable about this dish. Thin slices of paneer in a sweet/spicy barbecue sauce. You could find this dish anywhere.

Dish 4 (1.2x Multiple)

India Jones, Trident

Tom Kha Soup ~INR 550

Peer : Tiqri, Taj Santacruz

Tom Kha Soup, ~400 INR

Probably the dish offering the best value on the menu. I ordered the Tom Kha Soup minus the meat. It was a touch thick (more stock, less coconut milk required), but great use of lemongrass and fresh mushrooms as you’d expect from good Thai cooking.

Dish 5 (no peer available)

India Jones, Trident

Veg Penang Curry, ~1450 INR

It’s been a while since I had a truly excellent Penang curry; perhaps reflective of the fact, I don’t eat Thai/Malaysian cuisine nearly enough or perhaps just that nothing can beat the fragrant delights I had experienced during 4-5 months of travel around the countries. There is nothing to complain about this dish, except a 1450 INR price tag.

You might berate me for a “poor universe” of restaurants (i.e incorrect peer analysis), but I would argue 5* hotels are, indeed, in direct competition with high end restaurants in the city as mentioned above. This is evidenced by an empty restaurant on the evening I show up; there is a lone gang of business travellers chowing dim sum and crunching numbers on spreadsheets (must also be w***** bankers!)

Assuming a thrifty 1.5x premium paid on all food, and in the best case scenario that all food is as good as Yautcha (4.5/5) I scale my rating of India Jones accordingly. (1/1.5 x 4.5 = 3)

“It’s all relative”

We celebrated our wedding anniversary here. They truly made it special. Icing on the cake was the ice-cream cake (pun intended) from the chef. Food was super tasty. It was a lovely experience!

It was a lovely dinner time i had at India Jones. Like always they gave me the best time.
Chef Jitu , thank you very much for the special prawns that you made for me.
And thank you team at India Jones.
Awaiting for the next visit 😊😊

We had heard about India Jones' elaborate dim sum buffet so we decided to get lunch here. The menu consists of a soup, many varieties of dim sums and dessert. The soups are delicious, especially the tom kha prawn soup. A word of caution for the dim sums though - ask your server to bring the dim sums one at a time. They overload your plate with too much at one time and that kills your appetite.

Another tip would be to try one type of dim sum only once. We were served the same type of dim sum too many times and the server later got us another set of delicious starters. By that time, we were already too full to enjoy the new dishes. The desserts lack variety and are average.
Karan Singh
One of my all time favourite Pan Asian restaurants. The DIm sum buffet lunch on weekdays is good value for money, great spread, soup. dim sums, noodles and desserts. Very filling, highly recommend it.!

It's one if the best places to get the most authentic PAN Asian food!!
The place is well designed with tables created in such a manner that you have your own privacy totally
The servers take that extra care to take good care of you
Must start with some authentic soup, the starters each are special but my favourite will always be some authentic dumplings n sushi
The main course is a must for good amount of mixed vegetables in wide variety of sauces and they make all specially for you
The drinks with fresh fruits it or even the hunger fizz is great
And if that's not all the chocolate desert that they serve you is a must after any meal!!
Best place to celebrate occasions with friends and family and savouring the times!!

Celebrated my birthday at India Jones. Let's be very clear their service was top class and none come close. Ordered three starters. Prawn tempura and fried chicken which were delicious. The lamb satay was a disappointment. Main course was Thai fish curry, prawn in sambal curry and a chilly chicken. All three dishes were excellent. For dessert they gave us a complimentary cake which was really nice. Well priced considering it was a five star hotel. Superb ambience and service. Would always go back.

It was my first time dining at India Jones - the Pan Asian restaurants at Trident, Nariman Point. And just like all Oberoi properties go, we were treated to exceptional and warm service. The decor at India Jones is simple yet classy, adorned with Asian motifs that one comes to associate with most Pan Asian restaurants.
The menu is elaborate spanning across the South East Asian subcontinent with dishes from China, Thailand, Japan, Singapore, and Malaysia dominating the menu.
We started off out meal with steamed Char Sui Pork Buns - beautifully soft and spongy buns filled with succulent and finger licking barbequed pork. I'd have preferred the buns to have been stuffed slightly more. The chef explained to me that over-stuffing the buns can cause them to disintegrate in the oven while baking, which I completely agree with. The Mixed Mushroom buns are a vegetarian must order owing to the fact that the buns look like giant mushrooms and come stuffed with a mixture of mushrooms within!
The Asparagus and Edamame dimsums were delicious but not exceptional - something you'd find at any Asian restaurant around the city. The prawn dimsums on the other hand were my favourite because of the beautiful way in which the prawns were cooked. Both dimsum coverings were beautiful - soft without turning mushy, not too thin, not too thick.
For mains we tried the Green Thai curry with Jasmine rice. The thai curry was full of flavour without being high on the spice, a strong lemongrass fragrance emerging through. Beautifully butterflied prawns came dunked within the curry as well!
Our meal at the India Jones was top class in terms of good quality of food, and immaculate service.

I have been here many times earlier but I went here again a day or so back. I always have an amazing time here so I have to keep going back here.
The ambience is lovely. It's calm peaceful and romantic. The staff is excellent and so is their service and food.
The chef specially came to our table and took our order.
They also gave us a welcome drink, it was an Apple drink infused with mint. And they gave it to us in shot glasses and it looked really cute.
We called for tofu and mushroom in some sauce specially made by the chef and it was too good. Also called for homok phak, a dish from Thailand. It's supposed to be eaten with rice and I can't explain how delicious it was. We also called for pan friend Asian noodles. This is my dads and my favourite!
Also they gave us a baked Alaskan cake, which is like an ice cream cake, cause we were celebrating a birthday. The whole staff came singing and dimmed the restaurant lights and gave us the cake. It made us feel special.
Over all fantastic experience everything and this place never disappoints me. Keep it up India Jones!

Went for breakfast. Tad disappointed .....its not a disaster but you expect more when you pay more. Dosa was good but sambar too tangy. French toast was avg and served cold. Latte avg again. Puri bhaji bad. Tables are crammed in to a small space so its a bit difficult to move around and get your helping.

Dishes from across Asia are served at this high-end venue.
Very pricey but totally worth it.
My recommendations :
Silken tofu
Trilogy of prawns
Salmon with miso
Thai curry

Truly good quality food. The Asian food on the menu was really good. We had the salmon miso and pork buns were amazing. Recommend this please for any one looking for good Thai, japenese and chinese food.

The dishes are interesting and the menu is varied. Its a cozy place to dine and enjoy the ambience with family and friends. Located in the Trident Hotel, this place is a favorite for long time customers like me and the menu does not disappoint you.

Had a quick main course today of Thai chicken curry with sticky rice. As a googly found some finely chopped Bhut chilli (check wikipedia on Bhut_jolokia) - the exotic, rare and arguably the spiciest chilli in the world. I figured it out not by its hotness (only a small quantity has been used by the masterchef behind the scenes), but by the distinctive flavor that every chilli has beyond just the capsaicin content, and must say, bhut jolokia dons its own character, for which I am short of speech to describe. Hope to aptly describe someday.

The dish was marvelous with chicken pieces mildly seared for a charcoal-ish coloring and the perfect amount of coconut milk, which is otherwise so frequently put out of proportion by most chefs. The complementary rice could have been better, as the one with my dish was not exactly sticky rice like the ones I expect in a South-East Asian cuisine, but then I sneaked the stickier one from my fellow diners bowl. They serve a different choice of rice for different sets of dishes, perhaps to provide a strict authenticity (Thai, Viet, Korean etc.). But then for a non native customer like me, rather than assuming, a quick ask while taking order on how to prepare my rice (very sticky/semi sticky/dry/bhaat/pokhal type), would just delight me. Something on the lines of how they ask for steak (well done/medium/rare).

Anyway, lunchtime well spent!

Great ambience , great food and great service. The staff here have been so nice and helpful each time I visit, they make you feel so welcome full points to them. I love the food here it's really good. Some of the dishes that I keep going back for are the chicken Thai soup, the crispy corn kernels , the chicken Sui Mai , the gaing phed the red Thai curry with chicken. The bbq pork with chilli is awesome. I don't remember the name of the dessert but it came in this glass with a cookie pistachio crumble. A must visit for sure.

Wonderful place to try uncommon Asian cuisines like Vietnamese, Indonesian,Thai etc. Needless to say, you have to go here with a heavy pocket, but if you can afford it, definitely a must visit. The ambience truly gives you the feel of a luxurious hotel. The service is superb and the staff is very friendly. I really plan to visit this place again, but probably for a lavish and romantic date.

The Ambiance is great, warm and courteous staff. Great food, but you must know what to order. When I had gone with my parents we did not quite like the food, however, when I went again with my aunt and uncle, I discovered the delicious hormuk pak with rice. For that, it is worth visiting this place again and again.
Rishabh Dwivedi
The place has some of the best south east asian food that Mumbai has to offer. The silke tofu and the Kimchi salad are exactly the way they were supposed to be. The dimsums are all very good, especially the Jian shu cai jao. The best option is to take a dimsum basket and enjoy the differnt varieties. The sticky rice and the noodles are also authentic and unadulterated. would love to visit again.

This one's right across Frangipani. On this day when the latter was full, we were supposed to have the breakfast buffet here. Sophisticated dining plus the servers prove the advantage of experience in their brilliant ways. Excellent hospitality!

If your a fan of asian cuisine, DIM SUM LUNCH BUFFET is the beat choice, four course meal starting with soup, starter, main course and dessert. Excellent dim sums topped with rice dish and ends with brilliant tasting desserts.

A nice cozy place in a very vibrant hotel. The staff is very warm and they really want to serve you well. We ordered the chicken tangra, sautéed vegetable and Singapore noodles. The quantity was more than sufficient for two people and the food was absolutely delicious.

Amazing and lovely food. thai curry and rice was yumm.. And the home made cake they served us as it was a friends bday was one of the best cakes u can ever have. A must visit....

Very disappointed with the whole experience. This was the second visit to this place, the first one was many years back. The food was sub standard, tasteless.. very ordinary. Worst was the ambiance and the service. The interior has become so old and dirty, you cant imagine you are in a 5 star hotel. The ceiling is not painted since the beginning of the hotel it seems and the fabric on the ceiling never washed. The walls have also turned black in some corners. The service in any Udipi is better then this place. The waiters are all busy arguing loudly among themselves. No one is concerned about the customers. While serving they dont even know what they are serving and how to serve. Spending 5k on 2 dishes which was not even worth a penny.

Between there were no managers or any responsible person present whom we can tell our frustration to.

Horrible Experience!!

Please head over to this place for an experience that'll leave you feeling like the President/Co-Founder of the Loser Association and that too in a Freaking Five Star!

To use the newly learnt Cushion Technique, (yeah, I have a cool office!) Let's talk about the great things IJ has to offer..

1. Great Location
2. Dapper looking staff (faking enthusiasm and smiles, I must add)
3. There is no number 3!

The Not-So-Good things

We got the dimsums (Veg, coz I'm friends with Gujju/Maaru types people- and yes, I looouuuu them). The portion size just doesn't go with the price tag. Yes, it is a FFS (Freaking Five Star) but you ain't adding Gold to the food and its about not being 3 planets away from VFM.

My fav out of the not so generous lot were the spinach dimsums. The gravy was delicious, creamy and rich.. Surprisingly the dimsums weren't soggy

The epicsode was when my Very Dear (How I hate this word) Maaru friend wasn't able to use the points on his membership card coz this super tall gentleman with a jaw dropping accent informed us that there was a glitch in the system.. He had no way of manually using the points or using points for partial payment.. All of this was informed to us after a wait for about 30mins (sachi..no exaggeration) *drum rolls* .. He ended up paying cash!

Average Food, Totally unjustified pricing and not worth it!

And that's how my friends you're made to believe that accumulating points will get you some benefits although what you do get is.. Babaji ka Thullu!
Vedantee Chaudhari
It is a lovely experience but also the rates are high. As the app suggest Rs. 3,500 for two is not true. We were four of us and we ate decent neither did we have had any alcoholic drink nor did we hogged yet the bill was around Rs. 22,000

I had the oppurtunity of visiting this place during my stay at trident for some official work. India jones is a pan asian restaurant which serves some lip smacking awesome food. The sitting capacity is huge & the ambience as well is great to enjoy some quality.

I have had their buffet for breakfast which consists of lots of varieties starring from indian to english & so on. The quality of food is also great.

For dinner they have ala-a-carte system. From their menu I tried the following items:-

1. Non veg dimsum basket= It consisted of 8 dimsums of 4 varieties(2 each). It had varieties of lamb,chicken,chicken-prawn & prawn. All of them were fantastic. The outer dough was thin & was absolutely perfect.

2. Veg dimsum basket= Same quantity as above consisting of asparagus, spinach. Didnt try the other 2 types. The asparagus one was really tasty.

3. Pad thai noodles= One of their best dish on their menu. Fettucini type noodles wok tossed in vegetables & soya bean strips. The taste was immaculate. The quantity was huge as well. Could easily be shared by 2 people. Must try if you visit this place.

4. Mixed fried rice= Normal fried rice consisting of eggs, chicken & prawns(pork available as well). It was light with less amount of oil. Quantity again was wholesome.

5. Braised chicken(cant remember its actual name)= Grilled Chicken breast pieces served with vegetables in light sauce. The chicken was cooked to perfection. The quantity was great as well. Recommended.

6. Tangra chicken= Typical chilli chicken type of dish but with a twist. Small chicken chunks cooked in tangy sauce with onions, chillies & spring onions. Complimented the fried rice & noodles very well.

7. Tender coconut water.

Overall the dining experience was great. The staff were prompt & the service was good. Keep up the good work.

This is one of the best places to enjoy asian food in and around Nariman Point. The spices Asia are a delight, personal recommendation is the Japanese and the Malaysian food.

The price is in avarage to Mumbai, between 1500 and 2000 rupees per person, absolutely alright for the location.

Service: +1

Location: +1

Food: +1

Ambience: +1

Price: +1

Total = 5 points

Went with colleagues in the middle of the night. Must say the staff, though appeared sleepy, were extremely courteous and were quick to attend to our orders. Some drinks and food, we very delighted with the mid night buffet and stuffed ourselves like starved hogger. the Dal Makhni and Chicken Rogan Josh were awesome and so were the hot Chocolate Banana Brownies. Superb place for an anytime visit.

This is one of the finest restaurants in Mumbai. The food, environment, service everything leaves you with a sense of joy and happiness.
We walked in and were greeted warmly by staff, made comfortable and then were recommended some amazing dishes - do not ask me names..
We tried stir fried tofu for starters.. Well made item and aptly spiced.
The hakka noodles with exotic vegetables in black bean was awesome for main course.. Off course, we had the famous Thai dessert (very famous #unmissable item here) - crushed ice and jelly in coconut milk : wow!!

If you have not been to this place, plan your next outing here.

#awesome place..
Absolute value for money and the entire experience of dining at Trident was amazing. We were celebrating my sister-in-law's birthday and trident threw an lucrative offer which we couldn't deny. Roast duck dimsums were our favourite and each dish was unique however the show stopper was the pistachio sorbet dessert.

When I was invited for the ongoing Malaysian Food festival at India Jones, I readily said yes.
Firstly, not often do you get to taste authentic Malay cuisine.
Secondly, the chef had flown all the way from Malaysia to curate this menu.

So on a Saturday, I went to the tip of Mumbai, all the way from Andheri, just to have a sneak peak of what Malay cuisine is all about!

On entering, you are spell bound by the royalty of this hotel. It oozes larger than life image of luxury.

On entering India Jones, we are seated and the chef and his supervisor makes us go through each course with all the details.

The staff is courteous and eager to serve. Always smiling people make up for food being enjoyed more :)

And here we go-

1. Started off the traditional Malay netted pancake called - Roti Jala. It was served with a peanut sauce and soft tofu in sweet and spicy sauce. We started off with a winner! This was a treat. Th peanut sauce, though unusual ( as this was a little more liquid-y than it usually is) was delicious! Loved the roti and peanut sauce. The tofu was soft and melt in the mouth. Finished the whole plate in 5 minutes.

2. Next up- Pumpkin soup served the indian spiced bread. While the soup was creamy and so flavorful, the bread was okayish. Left the bread, finished the soup!

3. Roasted Potato with yogurt dip and a sweet and chili dip.- The one thing I really didn't like at all! The roasted potatoes were bland (no salt too), while the yogurt dip was too simple. The sweet and chili dip, however, was pretty good.

4. Drinks-
a) Apple and Peach- So refreshing, this one. More of apple and less of peach, but it was certainly likeable.
b) Mojito - wow. I totally loved this one. Chilled and minty this one.

Here we took a break before the main course was being served. Talked to the chef, got insights on how Malay cuisine is different from Indian cuisine and what kind of cuisine do people of Malyasia like.

Next up- main course-

5. The classic - Nasi Goreng Nenas - which is a pineapple fried rice served with vegetable pickled acar and some crackers.
The fried rice was quite good.
However this was served with a veg coconut sauce- broth which was highlight of my meal. So subtle and so delicious! I absolutely loved this one. I would have bowls of this, all my by myself!

6. Veg dimsums - they looked appealing, however for me they were a little dry. The filling was very good, but the taste is something I was not to keen to repeat again.

Now coming to that part of the meal that I eagerly await for the most- Desserts!

We were served 3 types of desserts-
1. Coconut jelly and coconut cream jelly together - while the cream jelly was wow, the coconut water jelly part was okayish.

2. Assorted fruits in pandan syrup - the syrup was rose based and it was quite refreshing. Not the typical type of dessert you would normally eat, at all!

3. Black sticky rice soup with palm sugar - the best of the 3. It had a kheer type texture but the taste was nothing like it. It looked black currant-ish in color but the taste was so good. Could have another helping of this.

So there you go. I had a traditional meal after a really long time! And it was worth it. So ahead out to India Jones between 20th-29th Nov to try out this Malaysian Food festival!

Jemput Makan! :)

Every year, the Trident Nariman Point in Mumbai & the Mandarin Oriental in Malaysia participate in a barter system.
Trident sends its best chef to Malaysia to host an Indian Food Festival, while the Mandarin Oriental sends its best chef to Mumbai to cook up a Malaysian storm in the kitchens of Trident.

So for anyone looking to experience some authentic Malaysian fare, the festival will continue till the 29th of this month.

Some of the must-haves are the Chicken Satay served with a chunky Peanut Sauce, Steamed Vegetable Dimsums with Nonya Sauce, Prawn Dimsums, & Prawn Sambal in Chilli-Tamarind.

Definitely worth a visit.

The Malaysian food festival is ongoing fro 20th to 29th November!
If you are a Malaysian food fan or would like to get your hands on authentic Malaysian food then this is the place for you.
Tried some really authentic Malaysian tofu, peanut sauce, and their traditional roti.
Also tried the nasi Goreng which is basically pineapple friend rice with a coconut broth and veges! Also the Malaysian achar is similar to the Indian achar, just a bit more tangy! The pumpkin soup is mind blowing!
To end with, desserts were really unique! We had the black rice pudding which was almost like kheer, the coconut jelly which has 2layers, one being of coconut cream and at the bottom is coconut water. Last dessert was a mixture of Asian fruits marinated in a sweet liquid. Most unique dessert that I have ever had.

Since it's housed in the most posh hotel's of the country, I guess visitors get to eat here if they wish to satisfy their Asian food taste buds (that's why I see it to be popular).

I'd say the food is average. Dimsums are good, duck preparation was awesome. However Thai curry could have been better... it was little over the top.

One of my favourite places for Asian in the city. If it's your birthday or you're celebrating an occasion there, tell them in advance and they graciously organise the most delicious baked Alaska for you and your guests.
The pad Thai, the fish and the edamame are three things I always order when I visit.
Their hospitality is great. I once went when I wasn't allowed to eat sugar. They asked me for dessert and when I told them I couldn't eat sugar, they brought me a sugar free pannacotta on the house. Made my day :)

After a very long and taxing work day , i went to this Restaurent since I was. Staying in Trident and was too tired too step out . few things we can be assured of when we talk about Trident/Obreroi -great ambience , superlative hospitality and also pricy menu - all were true for this place . Green papaya salad as a starter was good and with a gain portion size it was enough for a late night dinner . Only surprising this was the place was empty - may be I went too late ( around 11 pm). I think the younger crowd avoids Restaurants inside 5 star hotels and they prefer 'pizza by the bay' or Colaba Social ...

Lost its touch.
A very disappointing meal with India Jones.
Family went to celebrate a birthday for dinner and ordered the India Jones Grand Platter Rs 2750 per head.
Appetisers were good but sparingly served. Did not get to taste the Vietnamese Spring Rolls. Steamed prawns and sui mai were of a high standard but the rest were average.
Soups Vegetable soup with coconut milk too sweet and spicy Thai soup with chicken decent.
The main dishes were a disappointment. Everything tasted the same being over-sauced and similar. Very Indian Chinese. India Jones has dropped the ball.
Dessert with a choice of icecream was nice with the tiramisu being great.
Will not go back till they improve.

So disappointed I did not take photographs.

I've said this about another restaurant in a previous review... When I'm paying Rs 7500 at a restaurant, I expect the sun, moon and stars!

In this case, I d have scored it a couple of extra points had the service compensated for the inconsistent food!

Food - 2/5
Service - 3/5
Ambience - 2/5

What we had -

8 dumplings in a non veg dimsum basket - thick skins, pasty fillings lacking flavour. Dipping sauce - even Chindian carts do better. No complexity of flavour whatsoever! Monotonous red chilli paste in fish sauce and vinegar.

Tom Kha Kai - chicken Tom Yum soup. One thing I ordered and was quite nice! My wife didn't want it fiery and requested it be made mild - they did take notice and made it as requested. Quite nice (hence the extra half point)

Thai red curry and jasmine rice - again these were decent and quite alright. But the curry was not even close to the real stuff in Thailand despite the use of really expensive ingredients. The chicken itself seemed like it was poached in the curry. No effort to add complex layers or use stock. Lacked any body or meaty flavour.

Deaji Bulgogi (barbecued pork with chilli, sesame oil and spring onion) - slices of pork served in a hot plate coated in sauce - way over cooked, the pork was dry and cardboard like coated in a sauce that seemed like ketchup and vinegar reduced together rather than anything oriental.

Cashewnut and sesame ice cream - no complaints!

I think the waiter who took our order went off on a dinner break after serving our starters so we kept waiting for our mains for almost 15 minutes after our starters and soup were over - literally twiddling our thumbs in the middle of an extremely noisy restaurant. The next person who served us had a more pleasant disposition but the damage was already done.

To make matters worse, the tamarind sweets served at the end had something in it which seemed like a stone to us - but our waiter claimed was a pip / hard peel! C'mon guys give us a break... We've eaten enough tamarind in our lives!

We weren't looking for a free meal - we wanted a memorable experience! While this one - the sooner I forget the better!

Since it's a 5 star, I don't grudge them the prices. Rs. 7500 for this order with 1 pint of beer was what I would expect to pay for a 5 star meal!

But when I do, I expect to be treated like royalty and expect to be served memorable food.

India Jones is a Pan Asian restaurant at Trident Hotel Nariman Point. You have to take the stairs from the lobby down one level. The decoration is asian inspired. There's a lovely pond at the front of the restaurant. There's even a Teppanyaki counter.
The first time I had a meal at India Jones was almost 4 years back and I remember the yummy "bento lunch box" of korean cuisine they offer. That is really my fav. But unfortunately after the beef ban, there are now only the pork and the fish varieties...of the bento box.
I also used to taste some Thai dishes here which are acceptable. But I also remember one time that I had a steamed jumbo crab here but the crab was not fresh so the meat shrinkened so much... That day there was an exceptional steamed garoupa though.
Another time i came here with a group of about 10 persons, we ordered the set bento lunch...but the food took super long time before being served at our table..so i wouldn't suggest anyone who's in a hurry to have lunch there.
Today i have a chance to return to India Jones and finally decided to write a small review about this place.
We had some dim sums both veg and non veg. I slightly prefer the veg ones than the non veg as i find the wrapping of the ha kao is a bit too thick. There are many kinds of sauces that you can choose...and you really need those sauces for almost all the dishes i had today as they are all quite bland...though the quality of the products are great (as it is supposed to be at a place like this). The chicken gyoza udon is a bit of deception as they are using the soba noodles instead of udon noodles which are round and thick noodles...but the soba noodles are flat and thinner.. The broth is not that impressive and the chicken gyoza are average... We had chicken chilli, prawn chilli and pomfret (all taste quite bland). The chicken fried rice taste nice and well prepared though.
I also like the coconut, melon, sago pudding! It is the most fav dish of the day! I also had a japanese rose pistachio cremeux with a fennel sorbet... The presentation is very nice but i still prefer the sago.

I was here for a lazy Saturday afternoon lunch with a buddy. We sat right by the grill and ordered the vegetarian set menu.

The salad came first, followed by the Mizo soup. A Filipino chef showed up and started delivering hot and delicious courses fresh from the grill. Asparagus, peas, cottage cheese, potatoes...everything was delicious. We ended the meal with some amazing raspberry cheesecake flavored ice cream.

The staff is polite and the ambience is great, especially with the opportunity to sit right at the grill. I'd definitely come back here.
Went to Indiana Jones a few weeks back. I absolutely loved the place & their food. I kind of make it a point to visit this place each time I am in Mumbai. I love their laksa & most of the dishes are authentic and the spices are very well balanced. I love laksa and this is out of the very few places that serves good laksa, close to the Singaporean version. The service is awesome and the desserts are exceptional.

We all know Frangi pani is a good place for a mouth smacking punjabi lunch or "group eatings" but right in front of it lies a hidden gem having nice chinese food and a ca ambience with not much chatter around so that u hv a peaceful meal in serenity. Reduced the stars in rating cz d staff did not really helped us while ordering food.

Another of the Trident restaurants. This time i had to head over here for breakfast because the Frangipani was full. Lovely ambience and friendly helpful staff. Breakfast was good.

This place has been a family favourite for many years. The recent past I have heard that the food has taken a bit of a hit, however I am pleased to report that after a recent visit that the food is still hitting the mark despite the rumours. I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys non vegetarian food. The trident ambience as always is soothing and enjoyable.

Great Pad Thai, Dim Sum platter and the draught beer. Fresh food. Pricing is steep though. But all in all paisa vasool and beckons a return..

This is one of my favourite places in Trident, its got a wondering ambiance. Its right beneath the opium den, and adjacent to frangipani.
The dim sums are wonderful, the main course, rice and noodles are cooked very well and gives an authentic taste!
