Review Gaylord - Mumbai

Judill Gonsalves
Came here on a Saturday morning. It wasn't crowded. We had mutton puffs, cheese and ham bun and blueberry cheesecake. My friend liked the chicken sausage bun as well (not in pic). Had a lovely time here with pleasant ambience and tasty food.

Have been visiting Gaylords-Cake shop since my college days and its always a nostalgic feeling, everytime i am back. Gaylords is an iconic cake shop and restaurant. The black forest cake and the pineapple cake is surely the ppls fav but mine is the chocolate eclair. Eating an eclair can get messy - only becos this is super creamy. These melt in your mouth. With cookies, cakes, donuts, mini pizzas, breads, pastries, muffins, tarts all around, i love the ambience at Gaylords. The service is excellent. At Gaylords desserts will make u happy and gay.

Breakfast is served in outer open area. Watch the city become active as you have your breakfast. 3 egg omlette with ham and cheese was very good. Assam masala Tea served in a pot. You must shop for cake, chicken pattice and other savouries and carry home. Their bake Shop adjoins the restaurant

Fabulous bakery and comfortable seating to have them. All the fresh things I loved were the Japanese cheese cake, Swiss chocolate pastry, bread pudding and nutty pie.

I recently went to this restaurant.. Ambience was good , food quality was amazing. I've tried Lamb biriyani , two mocktails and Baked Alaska, it was sooo good 👍💯 😍😍😍 Baked Alaska was stuffing with icecream, cake , some fruits like pineapple , cherries. It's was the best desert I've ever tried.. Service was not upto the mark but I like the food and ambience 😊

Service with a smile is not their forte. Maybe ots because they know they have a loyal customer base for what they make. It is a regular breakfast place for most of the south Bombay veterans. Their bakery starts stocking the fresh stuff on the racks by 10 and that's the best time to get here if you want to have a pot of tea and a breakfast of soft and flaky croissants, puffs, stuffed buns and pide. We had the spiced tea with he cheese mushroom chicken bun, chicken pide and mutton puffs. All were fresh and tasty. There Japanese cheesecake is popular and so are the variety of breads they bake

The place has a good ambience! Near to the marine drive. The food was good. We have tried: 1. Butter Chicken which was really delicious but the Rotis here are extremely costly ( Single Butter Roti @125 2. Desserts are really tasty. Tried KitKat Pastry 3. Coffee lovers, please do not order coffee here. It's terrible, just machine made coffee 😔
Aditi Desai
Good lil bakery. Their almond tart, nutty corner and lemon tart are a must try. The hazelnut danish was disappointing.
Shalini Majumdar
One of my favourite restaurants in Mumbai. Reminds me of Kolkata’s Park Street. Also there bakery is to die for.
Vikas Anaokar
almond tart is really amazing. taste is maintained throughout multiple decades. i wish they sold coffee to go. other than no complaints. what a great bakery and gem Mumbai has 🤩

A signature place in Mumbai. Food is super consistent. Highly recommend this place for fabulous chicken ala kiev. So fantastic. The butter chicken & rotis are delicious too. The starters were fabulous. Loved the concept of mini - bite size masala papad. Good portion of drinks. Reduced one star for poor service. The servers were in a hurry to shoo us off from the restaurant. Repeatedly we were being told, chicken will be closing. The servers are not courteous. When they served chicken a la kiev it was straight out of the oven, right onto the table. The server didn't care to inform me that the plate was hot & he saw me touching the plate & I burnt my fingers :(. Even they were on our heads for tips. Please improve service. The experience will be far better.

This place has a really beautiful old school ambience and it feel so much like home. The interior and everything about this place is so homely. The best thing about this place is the jhoolas there, yes you heard it right. It's quite unique idea and a good USP.

Sauntered into the place, thinking I accidentally gate-crashed a unicorn's posh tea party. Checked the menu and my wallet did the classic "abandon ship" move. But hold up, they graciously handed me a 315-rupee jug of mystical Himalayan breeze, calling it "water." The waiter slyly signaled for a tip, probably for the added oxygen. Next time, I'll roll in with a jar of monsoon magic – rainwater beats luxury-priced air any day. Who knew staying hydrated could make your wallet do a Bollywood drama?

Gaylord Restaurant located in the scenic locale of Chruchgate, Marine drive is set in an Anglo Oriental themed restaurant. The interior, decor and service is very upscale and posh. The food quality is really good, dependable and comfortable seating for family friends. We tried an array of different dishes: fish fingers and chips, chicken kali mirch Kebab, tandoori roti, garlic nan with Daal Tarka, Chicken Do Pyaza. For drinks we took Pina Colada, Virgin Mojito and Fresh Lime Soda. To finish our delicious meal we took Caramel Custard which was not sickeningly sweet but sweet enough to balance our taste buds. This place has a wide variety of options to choose from, both vegetarian and non vegetarian, continental and Indian. Service can be a bit better but this restaurant is very popular and remains full at peak hours so take your time and visit. A must visit restaurant if you are around Marine Drive and looking for dependable guaranteed options. ❤️

Went on a Saturday morning for breakfast and was visiting this place after almost 20 years. The place looks and feels the same. The staff are prompt to attend to you though service is a bit slow. We had the mutton sandwich which was really good. The bakery section had a lot of variety which makes you want to come again and try everything out. I will definitely come here again for lunch one day.
Jigar Baxi
Had a cold coffee and Kona Coffee with French Fries. The ambience is so classy and overseas street side look. All the dishes were awesome... Week end spot for sure

Gaylord is a very well known bakery in Churchgate. It is near the station. It is very beautiful, kind of Royal ambiance. It offers you varieties of cakes, pastries, tarts, cross isn’t so, etc. It has two sections which is outside which is beautiful and is mainly used as bakery purpose. Inside section offers you variety of North Indian food options such as biryani, sabji, etc. One should visit it for its delicious cakes and bakery products.
Rohan Pereira
Very good selection of pastries. Recommended.
Vikas Singh
This legendary outlet near Churchgate has fanatical fan following. Though known primarily for bakery items the dining options are great too. Being vegetarians we ordered Bharwaa aloo, Makhmali Khumb, Dal and Butter nan. The potions were more than adequate for two people and taste great.

Being a Chicken🐔 Lover❤ my all time favorite dish in Mumbai is "Chicken A'la Keiv" served at Gaylord restaurant in Mumbai.<br/><br/>It is a dish made from chicken breast stuffed with buttered mushrooms and cheddar cheese. On side with basmati rice and veggies like mashed potatoes, steamed carrot and green peas.<br/><br/>Moment you take a bite all the butter and cheese melts in your plate and littlerly brings water in your mouth.. Do check out the oozing video especially shot to show you the effect 😍 <br/>Thank you Team @gaylordrestaurantmumbai for this classic dish.. just loved it👌 #chickenalakeiv🍗 and the awesome hospitality 👍<br/><br/>Ratings✅<br/>Food🍗 10/10<br/>Ambience 🏫 9/10<br/>Customer Service 👌 9/10<br/>Value for money 🤑 9/10<br/><br/>#YoursOnlyFoodie #foodblogger #MumbaiFoodie #nomnom #foodgasm #Mumbaifood #foodies #foodporn #foodislife #indianfoodblogger #foodphotography #delicious #mumbaifoodlovers #foodlover #instafood #foodofmumbai #bloggerlife #bloggerstyle #resturantreview #mumbaiinfluencer #mumbailifestyle

Decent food and decent hospitality. They have good variety of north Indian food. Paneer tikka is a must try
Kunal Khetwani
One of those bad experiences where anything you order is progressively worse than the earlier. Ridiculously over priced and really really bad food so much so that the fish was stinking. Chicken kebabs had no chicken but only egg. Paneer was as hard as it could get. Took 20 mins to serve a bottle of beer. Staff not concerned and carry a casual and "we care a **ck attitude". Visit here at your own risk!
Monila.sachdev
Worst ever experience, we were a group of 10 along with 5 children. Not a single dish (we ordered close to 8 to 9 starters) was satisfing to the taste. Fish was stinking really bad, chicken kabab tasted more like an egg, kababs were tasteless, we actually ended up going to a different restaurant for the main course. The staff did not even care to ask for feedback even though they overheard we all complain about the food. Never going there again. Writing this long feedback goes to show how badly we were frustrated with the entire experience.
Piyush Verma
Absurd experience with servers, their behaviour is not at all guest friendly. Their ego walk 10 feet ahead of them. They feel that they are the lord of Gaylord. I dont ever want to step into a restaurant where guest is not respected. Than however good may be the food it doesn't really matter to me.

Recently i visited this very old and famous bakery in churchgate which is very close to churchgate station.<br/><br/>This famous is very famous for its bakery food products and taste so we decided to stick to some baked food .<br/><br/><br/>We ordered #macroons , #apple pie and #peach pie. The macroons tasted so well . Also the peach pie was freshly baked and very tasty. Tough we dint like the apple pie very much but overall it was worth it.we surely visit again to taste the meals.

This was my first visit. The place has ambience of being classic. Staff is courteous and has a look of happy beings. The place feels very comfortable and gives vibe of high class society of 70s & 80s. It is subtle.<br/>Food: cream of tomato soup was little too sour for our taste but garlic breads were right with it which made us enjoy it.<br/>Zucchini and bell pepper sizzler was something new. It was good. Cannoli Indiana has a desi tadka because instead of pasta it was tortilla.<br/>On the whole food was ok. I liked the ambience and variety in desserts.

this restaurant is located at walking distance from churchgate station. We visited out here for lunch on a busy sunday afternoon and there was waiting out here. We ordered Indian Cuisine and the taste was very good. However we found the prices of the dishes to be on the higher side for the porions offered. We ordered the following :<br/>Paneer Makhanwala (5/5 great taste )<br/>Paneer tikka masala (5/5 a little spicy but was expected)<br/>Butter Tandoori Roti ( perfect)<br/>Vegetable biryani (4/5 was a little bland could have been better...)<br/><br/>overall good ambience but a little pricy for the offering. The service was good.
Sonakshi Mahendra
Visited the place for a team dinner. The ambience is amazing and it is just walking distance from churchgate station. The food however was disappointing. Had ordered the veggie sizzler which was bland in taste. Quantity was also less.... After this had veg jalfrazie and roti. The sabji was good in taste. For drinks had the Jade garden mocktail which was nice.<br/><br/>One should opt the Indian cuisine over Continental here. Overall a forgettable place. Go for the ambience.
Aksheeta Selarka Parikh
Considering that this has been such an old place, the quality of food and place was expected to be atleast average.<br/>I visited with my family for dinner on a weekday night. The washroom was filthy and there was no staff to clean it.<br/>The taste of food was below average, I felt sick all night after consuming it. Over priced place and below average experience.<br/>The staff though was very warm and welcoming!
EatingwithKabir.
We stopped by here to have a quick lunch. The food was great. We only had a toasted sandwich, but it was perfect. The staff were lovely and it was very reasonably priced. Wanted to go back for dinner to the main restaurant but didn't have time.<br/><br/>Thankyou:)
Foodie_gasm
informative Captains and Waiters guide you in selections .Their tried and tested Continental dishes are still consistent in quality and taste. The prices of the same have escalated to about 2.5 times the cost in just 3 years. They have added some interesting Moghlai dishes too. The wine selection is good. And, the taxes added notch up the bill to a new high !!!
Abhijeet And Aditaya
Not only yuh you get good food for lunch and dinner, they have bakery too.
Abigail Estibeiro
Nice place.. unfortunately I ordered only vegetarian that day. Will be bck soon to try their amazing sizzler(it looked amazing..let's see).
Sanket Mhatre
Nice place with a variety of breads and rolls. Reasonably priced considering that they are in one of the most expensive localities of Mumbai.

Went for saturday night dinner Total 2071 for 4 Had 1 chicken clear soup, kullar ki tangdi, cooker da kukkad 4rotis 1kulcha & 1lachaa paratha jeera rice. Visit only if have lot of free time n money on hand Cons - very slow, confused, haphazard service, servers are extreamly partial towards regular patrons n foreingers. Cost to portion ratio is very uneven. And over all experince is not pleasant for money you pay! We saw one guest giving bribe to a server to speed up service to their table amd suddenly despite they being larger group n placing order post ours had meal paid bill n left before us. Even a foreinger couple who came good 30mins post us left before us. We had to repeat order with each server to even get water. We had ordered everything in one go yet service was delayed. The cooker da kukkad is served in small cooker & the server (looked senior)was so much in hurry while serving dropped good dollp of gravy on table luckly my dress was saved! Pros - 90s interior, place looks elegant, jeera rice was delicious n highlight. Rotis n paratha was made from wheat flour.

After hearing a lot about this place for years, finally decided to pay it a visit. Must say the food really surprised me and was great in terms of taste. However it lacked it quantity. The portions are really small as compared to other restaurants serving Indian food. And the staff can be better.
Derek Denzil
My brother took me here saying that its one or iconic restaurants in the city for which I was quite excited but I was a lil dissapointed here. We ordered for mutton, chicken and fish which had no taste at all. The only thing I liked here were the butter naans and palak paneer. I mean, I'm a pure non vegetarian but I ended up really liking the paneer and naan which means that their veg is much better than non veg. Ambience was nice, service was slow hut the staff was curteous and not expensive at all. I mean we're like 9 people and had like what not and ended up paying close to 7000. Which is think is not bad for a restaurant in city and that to in an iconic one.<br/><br/>The bakery section is to die for. I mean if you're a sweet tooth, you'll for sure end up having diabetes cuz you'll eat so much cuz it's so daiyam tasty.<br/><br/>P. S - this review is based on my taste buds, I still urge and request everyone to try them atleast and decide about the food.

Had heard a lot of good things about Gaylord baked products so decided to have the plum cake for Christmas from here. I picked up a rich plum cake with marzipan topping.<br/><br/>The decoration on the cake was nice with a snowman & santa made of sugar placed on top. The plum cake was tasty & nice with mild flavour of rum hitting your tongue with every bite. The quantity of fruit & nut to cake was also perfect. The only gripe I had with the cake was that the on top of the marzipan coating was a sheet of pure sugar icing that was too cloying. Will visit the place to dine once.
Sharvari Kadam
Visited Gaylord 2nd time for dinner.. Kid wanted fried rice.. We couldn't see that in the menu.. So asked if it's available.. Got rude reply from waiter that we should go across the roadside hotel for fried rice(simple reply that we don't serve Chinese would have been sufficient).<br/><br/>Ordered Mutton seekh kebabs and dal rice. Food was amazing and seekh kebabs were cooked to perfection.
Sanjay Punjabi
Dont know about their core food, but the bakery section is excellent. We had a chocolate pastry, which was premium stuff. Dense, moist and with multiple layers of choco cream. Good going.
Suraj Kanchan
Service was a big disappointment. They have become complacent it seems.
Subrata
Went with friends for a birthday dinner.... Wanted to sit on sofas to be comfortable after work.... Was not allowed as we were just three.... Forced to sit on the chair.... But perhaps they are like that... Food was of good quality... Tried a fusion of continental and Indian.... Started with the traditional soups... Vegetable au gratin with bread rolls or dinner rolls ss the waiters preferred to call them as... Veg kadai with naan and kulcha.... Ended with some desserts.... Enjoyed the food.... Recommended

The taste of the food is good<br/>But found a beetle and insects so really disappointed by the dirty environment.<br/>The bakery is good in taste but they don't do anything for the insects

Aqesome food...great taste. Amazing quality and value for money<br/>We loved all of it.

Breadputting and blueberry cheesecakes were delicious. Comfortable outdoor seatings for short dates and meets. Staff was a bit rude and uninterested.<br/>

First experience at an iconic place like Gaylord & a terrible one at that. The portions are teeny weeny, the sizzler pasta was atrocious & having travelled almost across town for a long day, it seemed a futile exercises even the parathas (onion and gobhi) have seen better days & the veg kadai seemed off ! The warmth and experience that the reviews read was totally missing on this weekday ! Unless one can call a bowl of creamy veg soup and sizzling brownie to be worth it !! Definitely not value for money or the effort of driving down there !! Have seen better service, better food even in a local suburban small eatery !<br/>PS - no one can get boondi raita wrong, but Gaylord did !! Added onions and soggy boondi to a rather distasteful, sour bowl of curd !!!!!!
Noforkandspoon
Gaylord is a very fancy place to visit. Located nearby churchgate station. From their bakery items to food everything is amazing. It also has outdoor seating.<br/>If you ever happen to visit this place do try thier bakery items breads, pastries pies. Its delicious.<br/><br/>Also tried butter naan, paneer jal frzie, dal tadka and rice.<br/>Amazing experience
PBP
Vintage Bombay restaurant that still maintains its decor and I love that. Creamy Delhi kinda butter chicken , the garlic bread is yummy, kaali daal , dal tadka , chicken a la Kiev , veg au gratin , mutton seekh , prawn cocktail , a lot of their continental dishes are very very tasty. I would stay away from the spaghetti. Their bakery also has some amazing stuff. Eat the almond tart (heat it very slightly) and the Florida cake from the bakery for sure !<br/>

Gaylord is quite a popular restaurant in South Mumbai.<br/><br/>The overall vibe in the day time and in the evening is totally different.<br/><br/>Serves delicious food.<br/><br/>But the service in rush hours is just not good.<br/><br/>We recommend you to try their Paneer Tikka which was genuinely amazing.<br/><br/>The dishes are priced a bit on the higher side but honestly it’s worth it.<br/><br/>Visiting this place once again very soon.
Shrutin Shetty
I usually stick to the classics here.<br/><br/>Chicken A'la Kiev is really good.<br/><br/>As are Chicken Cecilia and Chicken Madrilene.<br/><br/>They are pretty good with their north Indian fare too.

Was seated in the outdoor section with my family on a saturday night at 11pm. Then right next to our table the stewards sat and began having their dinner and talking loudly. Was my first visit and the food and service did nothing to make me come back here
Crazyfoodtales
We visited the bakery section of this place and were amazed by thier wide range of sweet and savory items. We tried thier apple pie which was so melt in the mouth and the best we have had so far.We also tried thier macrons, pan pizza, croissants and shrewsburry cookies, which were very yummy.<br/>This place also has a very lovely ambience. Definitely visiting this place soon

LOCATION - located in church gate Mumbai.<br/>One of the most famous and renowned old restaurant of Mumbai city since 1956.we got the chance to dine with gaylord restaurant.<br/>AMBIENCE - ambience is very good here. Place is big and spacious with different sitting sections inside as well as outside. Loved the place.<br/>MAIN COURSE - we ordered rogan gosh with plane nan. Taste was good with sufficient quantity.<br/>STAFF SERVICE - I didn't liked the staff service here they didn't even serve us the food as they were busy with other people and I think they give service according to the people class.<br/>Cleanliness was well maintained. Waiting time was appropriate.<br/>PLUS POINT - they do have their own bakery. All the bakery products were fresh and great in taste with affordable price.<br/>We had one lemon twist and almond tart. Both taste so great. I will definitely suggest for the bakery products.<br/>DRAW BACK - all the food menu are highly highly expensive. I don't understand why it's so much expensive.<br/>EXPERIENCE - over all experience was fine.<br/>SUGGESTION - should reduce the menu price. Staff should treat all the customer equally because all the people are paying for it. Not just high calss people pays. Staff should also pay the attention towards all customer.

This place is historic and it looks every bit regal. The place has a small bakery section outside which sells the best and I mean it best confectionery, especially the breads. Love the pastries and muffins too and the price factor is really affordable. <br/>The restaurant inside has the most royal staircase. The interiors remind you of a posh old restro. the servers are well versed with the menyu and great service. Th food is fairly good.

This vintage, age-old cafe is very dear to many people my age. College life was never complete without our daily trips to Gaylord.<br/><br/>Decor - The cafe has an indoor and outdoor seating. Inside is a proper restaurant ideal for families. Whereas, outside offers more of a casual cafe feel with wrought-iron chairs, and white decor.<br/><br/>Food - I always usually land up pouncing on the freshly baked confectionaries and coffees. The outside seating is connected to its quaint cafe which has an assortment of freshly baked items, including quiches, rolls, cakes, pastries, macaroons, etc. The same is self-service after one selects their items and provides the same to the counter, where the staff heats and serves the same.<br/>I love the cinnamon danish out there!! Perfect for carb-filled brekkie!! Even the garlic toast packs are good.<br/>The menu also has an extensive range of soups, main dishes, small bites, etc.<br/><br/>Drinks - My favourite is the cold coffee. However, they even offer numerous hot and cold beverages.<br/><br/>Staff - Decent, courteous.<br/><br/>Price - Bakery items range from Rs.25-150/-. They even offer biscuits and cookies/ breads, etc for take away. Food menu is relatively expensive with dishes ranging from Rs.250-600/-. <br/><br/>Verdict - Love the bakery items and breads! Will surely keep coming for the same.

Visited Gaylord for brunch with a couple of my friends. It's bakery and cake shop offers a wide variety of both veg and non veg puffs, different types of breads, muffins, tarts, cookies and rolls. All these very freshly baked and all of their aroma was mouth watering 😋

There was a cockroach roaming around the display section. Even after telling the cashier about it nothing was done .. he was least bothered .

One of the iconic places in Mumbai, this restaurant boasts of a strategic location, which contributes to its popularity. There are three seating areas – outdoor and indoor, at two levels. While the lower level indoor section is more spacious, the one upstairs is cosy. Known for its European fare, the menu offers an equally impressive array of Indian dishes with a special focus on North Indian food. 'Traditional French Onion Soup', 'Chicken A La Kiev', 'Vegetable Au Gratin', are among the must-try dishes here. The meat and seafood section of the menu has a wide selection too. For lovers of Indian cuisine, 'Rogan Josh', 'Tarkewali Dal', 'Gaylord Prawn Curry' and 'Gosht Dum Biryani' are a treat. The presentation of the food is basic but the flavours authentic. The food is value-for-money as the portions are decent.<br/>We also tried some of the items from the newly launched Menu which includes the following :<br/>🔺Tava kheema<br/>🔺Saucee papad<br/>🔺Beetroot zatar biryani<br/>🔺Jujeh kebab<br/>🔺Roti pe boti<br/>.<br/>💯Overall it was a fine dining experience at one of the most legendary restaurants in Mumbai, you should surely grab on to the new menu and explore your taste buds.
Alok Mantri
Visited this restaurant today with great expectations. The bread section was very nice but the restaurant food was over priced and very average. We ordered a garlic bread, a vegetable grilled sandwich and coffee. The quality of food was very average and not worth the price. The service was good though. The three stars are for the service and bakery section.
Pranoti Swami
Not a good place to stop by and eat.<br/>Staff will judge you for your appearance.<br/>Service is very bad.<br/>The place smells during rains.<br/>This is what they serve when you call for chicken sandwich.<br/>I hope you guys will take a strict action against this.<br/>
Raghavendra Sharma
Food is decent. However they need to work a lot on their service. Pathetic staff. Have to wait forever to get their attention. Took 30 mins to get them to serve water to me.
Tina Mistry
Sick and pathetic service <br/>They say hot dog roll and instead send 4 plain hot dog buns how stupid! <br/>At least mention that you are serving only a bun and or hot dog along! <br/>They don't have any idea what has been even sent by them! <br/><br/>
World Weary Traveler
Their Mutton Mince Bun ( or also known as Lamb Mince Bun) is spicy and very tasty. I guess it is the only place in Bombay where we get it. They also serve their Chicken Basket ( Normal and Spicy ) which is basically something like a mini pizza . The ham and cheese croissant is a must try.
Akshata Parab
I never had liked pies in general but this one did make me ask for it again. Gaylord Bakery is one of the oldest gem in Fort, Mumbai and are known for their pies, pastries, macarons and cheescake. Do not forget their Peach Pie, thats my favorite.
Payal Raghani
Gaylord, a Mumbai institution, our one-time favourite haunt during college times, one of the few still-standing, old-time stalwarts, where the service is always warm and the food delectable.<br/>We loved their new Monsoon menu dishes like Joojeh Kebabs - the succulent boneless chicken leg morsels in saffron flavoured marinade and Roti pe Boti - spicy Lamb served on flat roti.<br/>Their all time iconic dish Murgh Makhni (Butter Chicken) still maintains its colonial taste, one of the best in the town.<br/>We also loved their mocktails and their sizzling brownie dessert.<br/>.<br/>.<br/>It was such a treat to spend time at our very own traditional restaurant coming up with new food and fusions yet maintaining its roots of flavour.<br/>
Vanessa Fernandes
Cozy looking place in south mumbai. Went there post work to chill. Had their ham and cheese sandwich, and fish and chips along with chocolate milkshake. Delicious! Besides the sitting area is their bakery do try their banana cakes and Shrewsbury cookies.

A beautiful place to enjoy an evening with your close friends and pals..there is a bit of an old flavour in the place..the decor..the seats..n u will all love it..we had some nice cocktails with sizzler..n they were really good..they even have a separate place for confectionery..so while strolling along the Marine drive..come along to this place n njoy a nice evening

The manager (Robert) who is this elederly bald man at the entrance is by far the worse guy I've ever met<br/>The food is awesome but it leaves a bitter taste to interact with this guy who has personally made his agenda to make people sit on the worse tables possible incase u come early<br/>I even caught him lying about a reserved table as there was no tag on it. When I pointed it out, he quickly got a tag kept.<br/>Talk about basic courtesy

Taste was nice. Service was quite well. But the taste of the main course should be improved. Ambience was awesome. Improvements in hygiene should be made.<br/><br/>Ratings:-<br/>Service:- 3/5<br/>Taste:- 4/5<br/>Ambience:-4/5<br/>

I took a croissant from the bakery its was fresh and enjoyed my tea with it.<br/>I also ate the Sandwich which was and tasty, couldn't take a picture, as i was late.<br/>Must visit.

The place is the following;<br/>- Food: Decent<br/>- Beverages: Ok<br/>- Service: Warm<br/>- Hygiene: Average<br/>- Overall Experience: Good<br/><br/>ADVICE TO CUSTOMERS<br/>- It's a very nice place to have appetizers but the main course is not that good.<br/>- Very old school decor.<br/>- Do try the Creamé of Asparagus soup, it's amazing.<br/><br/>ADVICE TO MANAGEMENT<br/>- Do try to improve your main course quality.<br/>- Hygiene is another area for vast improvement.

Good ambience, decent food, staffer were decent but doesn't know what hospitality/service is.<br/>One this that I disliked the most was,the charged 125 bucks for a bottle of Aquafina(which is priced @ 20) I don't even know if that's legal
Trishika
i would rate my experience as 0 if i could, the food only tasted of salt! extremely small portions with extremely inflated prices. 0/10 would not recommend
Alisha Sanghvi
One of the worst ever experiences i have had in a restaurant. The staff is arrogant and rude and dont understand what hospitality is. Even when complained to the manager, he was being passive and trying to cool us down when we lost it on one of the servers. Pathetic food too. Regret going there, would never suggest the place to anyone ever. Could rate them 0 if that was an option.
Vineet Singh
Two of us had the mutton dum gosht biryani. It was disastrous. We never expected Gaylord to serve something like that. It lacked taste, flavour, ghee, spices and to top it all lacked salt as well. Most painful experience of having biryani ever. Only putting up this review so that no one else goes through the same experience as I did.
Ethan Braganza
The food was very good especially the chicken Cecilia the cream is to die for the sizzlers were nice but I don't know why I was not getting service there is it because I have jio I don't know but my family members have Vodafone and they were getting service. I really recommend you'll to go there and check it out.
The Bawa's Kitchen
Always wanted to visit this place especially during our visits to Marine drive so finally we got in, without a reservation, on a weekday.<br/>We ordered chicken curry and steam rice and my favourite rogan josh with and some cool mocktails virgin mojito and sex on the beach.<br/>The experience was truly of a fine dine with good food as a bonus. Will certainly keep this for special occasions.<br/><br/>Food - 4/5<br/>Service - 3/5<br/>Ambience - 3.5/5<br/><br/>
Sameer Thakur
Basic to decent food brilliantly packaged and priced way too high. Price generally means taste or at least amazing service and this place wasn't anything different or special.
Elitemediaandpress
Excellent place to have a good family lunch brunch or dine. Sumptuous food and spirits to rejuvenate. Great place with good etiquette’s and professional service unlike my last visit at Bandra’s unprofessional and rude behaviour joint as mentioned in my above review.

On a podcast by Cyrus, I noted he mentioned Gaylord as the place in Mumbai for the Best Butter Chicken (BC) one can ever have.<br/>Being a fan of BC, within no time, I tried this place.<br/>Keep the BC aside, this place was spot on with its Ambience, Staff being too polite and helpful, knowledgeable and super well trained.<br/>The way they served, the taste of the different dishes I ordered, all things summing up, inclusive of the Gaylord Bakery, it was a super great experience.<br/>BC is surely one of the best I ever tasted in my life.<br/>

It was our sir’s birthday and we ordered Plain Chocolate cake from Gaylord at our college. It was just for 700₹ a Kg and yet beautiful, spongy, creamy chocolate cake. Loved the cake .... decorated beautifully and delivered quickly by Zomato. The chocolate roasted Almond cake is also yummm... you should try them!

Gaylord is very close to Churchgate station. The food here is very nice. The ambience is very pleasing as well. Prices are a little too steep!

Cold food served (tandoor items) about 30-40min after the order was placed and the reasons given were that the restaurant is crowded. Chicken undercooked. The food quality is extremely poor. The staff kept dropping dishes and spoons at almost all tables. The waiter serving the food literally banged the tikkas on the plate. Arguments amongst the staff for their internal reasons in loud voices. Rude behaviour. This place has lost it’s charm and runs purely on the heritage value and nothing else.

Only been to the bakery section , which is excellent. Would recommend the blueberry cheesecake and the lemon tart. Not a big fan of the service though.

Had visited the outlet yesterday based on an article from LBB to try out the blue cheese naan and dal bhukara and i must say that it was one of the most amazing dishes i have had. Great food. The service is a bit slow so anyone visiting must be patient. But it's worth the wait.

It was a quick dinner date...tried this place as didn't want to again end up in shivsagar.. ordered pasta veg sizzler..tasty and had really good authentic flavours.. quantity will not be sufficient if you are hungry souls.. ambience was also good for quick dinner..main attraction is the Gaylord bakery...the variety of tea cakes leaves you confused..right from carrot to banana walnut to plain tea cakes to date walnut.if u are bakery lover..this place will ensure u satisfy ur taste-buds..overall nice place worth another visit

I had been to this restaurant a while ago and remember that I had loved the food there.<br/>So today on a lazy Sunday morning we visited the bakery a gaylord and loved this too. A bit on the higher side price wise but the puffs, rolls, cakes and tarts are too good. I have has better macaroons elsewhere though.<br/>This is a must visit for their chicken puffs, bacon and cheese croissants, hot dogs, cheese straws, chocolate éclairs!

We had gone for a Saturday dinner. Good ambience and service. But the downer was the food. We had vegetarian spaghetti Napolitan, the spaghetti was totally overcooked. The pasta sauce was suspiciously like kissan ketchup. No herbs, no spices and absolutely no vegetables! I was disappointed.

I've been going to Gaylord for years now but I guess this will be the last time I visit the place. Was here yesterday for lunch. I had the roast lamb and my husband had the grilled chicken and we both have been violently sick since then. Both of us suffered food poisoning. It's sad to see a childhood favourite turn into something I now fear going back to.

this iconic outlet needs no introduction. they serve amazing food in their warm interiors. go out and try their mutton galouti kebab, grilled chicken in main course. if u are there at breakfast hours, do try out their Spanish Omelette or veg cutlet with chips.  another must try is their Lamb Steak Au Poivre which is cooked in rich wine sauce.

One of the oldest restaurants in town serving yumm food with great gothic interiors!<br/><br/>AMBIANCE :<br/>The interiors of this restaurant belong to the old-age gothic style! It’s a very nice place for a family or friends gathering. The staff is courteous & warm.<br/><br/>FOOD :<br/>We ordered the vegetable galouti kebab which was flavoured with spices and was served with a tiny maida roti! It tasted average n was 7/10.<br/>Also the pasta sizzler from this place is one of the best fusion sizzlers n deserves 9/10.<br/>We also ordered north indian food which was very yummy and deserves 8/10.<br/><br/>VALUE FOR MONEY :<br/>It’s a bit pricey but compared to the quality of food served here, it sure is worthy ! Hence, 8/10.

Will never order again from here. I used to love Gaylord but they have the most uncooperative staff. They didn't have certain items and replaced them with items of lesser value and had us pay the original amount. They didn't accept that they were wrong and instead kept blaming us. In the end the delivery boy had to go back and they sent items worth the remaining balance. The lady still kept blaming us - insisting that it was our mistake. I'll never again make the mistake of ordering from here. The delivery guy, on the other hand, was very cooperative and super polite.

We ordered a Biryani, some Pastas, and A Caesar Salad. The biryani was DRY. It would take you a jug of water to consume it. Traditionally, Biryani is served with a side of raita/papad but not here. On inquiring we were told that they don't serve any accompaniments - It's not an accompaniment - it's a part of the dish. This indicates the uncordial staff who have no interest in maintaining the classic image of the restaurant. Anyway, Moving onto the pasta, it was uncooked and chewy - unlike the classical Al dente. the Caesar had similar disappointments. Definitely not returning here. Churchgate, Fort, Marine Drive, etc have many restaurants that would be a better choice than this.

This is the third time i visited today..I have always been in awe of Gaylord due to its old Bombay image but everytime i have been there i was disappointed, even today! The staff and specially the managers are frowning at you without a single smile! On top of it the food takes too much time..For an omlette they took 1 hour plus!French fries has no salt at all and the food is simple too expensive and just not up to the mark! The restaurant has a great vibe,so if u want to go there and just want to sit for a coffee do it!

This place is an institution.<br/>An old timer that has retained its charm over the years.<br/>Make sure u make a reservation before u arrive.<br/>The cooker da kukkad is their specialty.<br/>The bakery items make for a fab finish at the end of your meal.<br/>Value for money and huge portions.

Food is good. I wish staff was equally good..<br/>If you are from North India, you can relate to your taste at this place... Looking at the gentry, seems like a family restaurant for the elites in the area...

Horrible food and place! Never expected this from a legendary outlet like Gaylord. <br/>We ordered a sizzler for the kids. The menu says it comes on a bed of crispy spaghetti. It came on a few strands of dirty friend Noodles. <br/>The noodles tasted of dirty stale oil. They probably buy the cheapest ones possible. <br/>They took it back and didn’t charge for it. Anyways, no apologies or admitting it was their mistake. Just business as usual. <br/>PS: Avoid the Veg Galaouti Kebabs too. <br/><br/>Shantilal was good in his service.

April 2019<br/><br/>When you visit a legendary outlet, there are a certain expectations from the place. On most fronts, Gaylord either meets or exceeds them.<br/><br/>Our family of 8 went for Easter lunch at Gaylord. 8 means a lot of food was called for. Things I tried have been described elaborately. For the others, I would be relying on the taste of those who were at the table.<br/><br/>Their ambience spells classy! White walls, warm yellow lights, large paintings on the walls, lovely curtains, chandeliers, all put together in a ground plus one structure. So chic and royal.<br/><br/>We walked in without a reservation and got a table immediately. The staff was welcoming, courteous and went out of their way to manage a table of varied tastes and confused souls. :p They were quick with their suggestions.<br/><br/>What I particularly liked about the staff here was that they didn't shy away from speaking in any of the regional languages. A lot of fine dining restaurants seem to look down upon you if you don't converse in English. Gaylord wins additional points for top notch service! :)<br/><br/>We started with 2 soups - cream of tomato and spicy chicken and lemon clear soup. *Cream of tomato* earned a lot of praise from my mother. *Spicy chicken and lemon clear* is avoidable. It did not impress me.<br/><br/>Then came the appetizers. 4-6 pieces come in one plate. We called for 2 plates each of the chicken and mutton kebabs. All others were single plates.<br/><br/>1) Chicken gilafi seekh kebab<br/>SO MUCH WOW that I typed in all caps! The preparation is perfect. Lovely blend of spices. Juicy and soft chicken. Served with green chutney and finely chopped salad. Highly recommended.<br/><br/>2) Mutton galouti kebab<br/>The kebabs standalone are fabulous! Mouth and heart melting good. However, the small naans that they are served on were underwhelming. They were chewy and somehow just lacked effort. Kebabs are mildly spicy. They go well with the chutney served. I am not a mutton fan but these galouti kebabs are not to be missed.<br/><br/>3) Ghol fish tikka<br/>Mild on the taste front. Fish was fresh. Medium sized tikkas. These are available in basa as well. My suggestion would be to stick to ghol.<br/><br/>4) Hara bhara kebab<br/>Avoid. No one liked them. From the looks of it, I did not even wish to try.<br/><br/>5) Paneer tikka<br/>Safe bet for all vegetarians. Fresh chunks of paneer cooked in Indian spices. Tasted just fine. Sufficient for 2.<br/><br/>Our main course comprised of:<br/><br/>6) Grilled chicken<br/>This is a continental preparation. Chicken was grilled to perfection. It was juicy enough. Extremely mild on the taste front. Served as a meal and not a sharing plate. I quite liked it. The only downside is that it felt a tad dry. Some add on would have been great. Nonetheless it is worth a try.<br/><br/>7) Cooker da kukkad<br/>If you are looking for a change from the regular murgh lababdar, murgh makhani and murgh etc. then you should definitely call for cooker da kukkad. 4-5 big pieces of chicken cooked in a lovely tomatoes based gravy. The gravy does not have the usual paste like texture which is quite refreshing. The chicken comes in a small cooker. They open the lid to serve you piping hot succulent meat! Serves 2-3. Highly recommended!<br/><br/>8) Palak paneer<br/>I did not have this. My family liked it though.<br/><br/>We had *tandoori rotis* and *garlic bread* along with the main course. Rotis were good, the bread is avoidable. It lacked the punch garlic generally lends to bread.<br/><br/>Between breads we had a couple of beers. 4 pints of Kingfisher ultra.<br/><br/>Then came our biryanis. Non oily, amazing flavours, moist, perfectly cooked meat within, simple yet stunning presentation made them bae-ryanis for us. We tried the *chicken* and *mutton biryani.* Sufficiency of the biryani depends upon how much you have eaten before coming to it. Oh, they do NOT serve raita along with it.<br/><br/>Ended the meal with a phirni and baklava. Frankly, both these are amongst my favourite desserts. However, neither of them made me go for more.<br/><br/>The *phirni* lacked the much needed sweetness. Plus, it was without saffron. *Baklava* was nothing but dry fruits dipped in sugar syrup stuffed in a puff. I have had FAR better baklavas. This was no where close to it.<br/>My suggestion would be to try something else in the desserts.<br/><br/>We paid ₹11,000 for the lunch. They do not levy a service charge. In comparison with many other legendary outlets, I found Gaylord reasonably priced.<br/><br/>Bonus read<br/>I always do my homework before visiting a restaurant and curate a list. I couldn't try all that was listed for Gaylord. Sharing it with you here so that you can replace the avoidables above with the ones mentioned below:<br/><br/>1) Waldorf salad<br/>2) Garlic roll with cheese<br/>3) Dahi cheese rolls<br/>4) Lasooni palak<br/>5) Chicken bhuna<br/>6) Pomfret ala Gaylord<br/>7) Baked alaska<br/><br/>Visit soon! :)

I just want to keep coming back here!<br/>It was a delight.<br/>To someone who hasn't lived in Mumbai, discovering this was a pure gem.<br/>So warm and homely, it felt like I've grown up eating from their bakery. ♥️<br/><br/>Amazing Chocolate Mousse and the lemon was to die for. 👀<br/>Really want to go back and try the whole menu as soo nas possible. 🙆🏻<br/><br/>There is however one thing that can be improved, the hygiene levels in the outside service area looked a little in trouble.<br/>The water glasses that are filled and kept, often look contaminated. ⚠️<br/><br/>#MehtabolismRecommends 💯<br/>

Gaylord is one of the best fine dining restaurants in Bombay. It also happens to be one of the oldest. Impeccable interiors and service. The food was delicious.

I had an unpleasant, discourteous, demeaning and unwarranted experience at Gaylord cake shop in Jan this year to the level of harassment just because I pointed out to the manager - Noel certain unhygienic and non consumer friendly conditions of the cake shop. The only saving grace was an unknown man who supported me and reiterated how the cake shop needs to follow consumer friendly practices. I am still appalled at the behaviour of the manager given that he had no concern for adherence to key principles of Consumer Protection regulations and he chose to stoop to an aggressive approach. No proper apology has been forthcoming. Mr. Malhotra a kind request to please keep a check on your staff and the standards of the cake shop. If this can happen to a known customer of over 32 years, I cringe to think of treatment netted out to other customers. The cake shop was loading all the cakes and goodies from the various trays. There was an attendant who bought in a box full of cakes and I watched her take out all the cakes with no gloves on. I saw her load all the cakes one by one and her fingers went into all the cakes and pies so much so that the cream of one of the pineapple cream cakes was wicked off. This is not the first time I am seeing this so I decided to bring it to the attention of the manage who was present that day. When I did go up to him to discuss and let him know of what had transpired, he was rude, condescending and refused to agree saying that they are not required to wear the gloves and that I should not be the one to tell him how the cake shop should run its business. He refused to acknowledge that there was a serious issue of hygiene at the cake shop. There was another man in the cake shop who saw the entire incident and intervened. He reprimanded him on his tone and manner of speaking with me and also acknowledged that I was absolutely right in questioning the hygiene of Gaylord cake shop. I have stopped patronising this shop and even returned the cake I had ordered that day. If they are not open to feedback, it clearly speaks of their caliber. I am putting this out on this platform as well. Such places should not be patronised if the attitude is such.
