Review Masque - Mumbai

Christine Chao
One of the best meals I had in 2023. We had a large party and they were able to accommodate all of our dietary restrictions. We had a 10 course meal with cocktail pairings. The service was impeccable and they were very patient with us - thank you! I really enjoyed the intention and execution of each dish. All the desserts were 10/10 and my favorite dishes were the duck sausage which we ate as a taco. Hope to come back for another culinary adventure.

If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Our server was Leon F. and he was absolutely amazing. Friendly, patient, and helpful. He really helped elevate the meal. 10 course Vegetarian Tasting Menu: Very creative dishes, none of which felt redundant. Each one a new and exciting burst of flavor different from the last. A wonderful use of mushrooms, root veg, lentils, etc. kept it very exciting. My personal favorite was the BBQd Sweet Potato over crispy rice with Amaranth Leaves. It was a perfect blend of flavors and textures. Friends enjoyed the 5 Part Cocktail Pairing and gave rave reviews of that as well.

Awesome experience. Literally our first meal in Mumbai! Location was a surprise to me, located in an refurbished textile mill factory area. Food is really good, my favourites are the soft-shell crab and pani puri! Very suitable for a date night actually!

Comfortable atmosphere, good food and pleasant service. The tasting menu has a range of dishes taking a modern twist on classics (Cured Barramundi Pani Puri / Duck Pepper Fry Paratha Hot Dog); or elevating them with high technique and innovative flavour profiles. The menu structure with a palette cleanser and Kitchen visit made dinner more engaging and fun. While the selection of drinks is equally engaging with the range of choice and explanations delivered by the cocktail mixers. Opting for a lighter night - the mocktail pairing was excellent. Masque brings attention to detail to both food and drinks which should not be missed if you seek a fresh take on Indian cuisine.

This is our first time in Mumbai and our first day. We are from London and have been excited for the tasting menu at Masque. It lived up to all expectations, and surpassed them! The food was incredible - inventive, amazing flavours and textures. Interesting and different cocktails as well! The service was impeccable - super friendly and knowledgeable. Thank you so much we had an amazing evening.

To dine in this manner is, no doubt, special. A first class experience, with brilliant food. The staff were attentive and charming, the experience very considered from start to finish. It is costly, comparatively for India, but certainly worth it in my opinion. We took the tasting menu and it did not disappoint, some dishes were, of course, better than others (subjective) but the entire process was just a joy, and something I will remember fondly for quite some time. I despise the notion of elevating cuisine, it’s quasi religious and Annexes skill to the few, so what is offered here is another reading of the vast field of Indian cuisine, a more experimental version perhaps, but something exciting and other. Would recommend, and return to see how the culinary vision expands.

This place offers a top-notch ambiance and a delightful fine dining experience. Spending time here is a cherished memory that will stay with me. The food and the atmosphere are truly world-class, providing excellent value for money. It's a culinary delight and a feast for the senses. The service was exceptional, and this is the best place for dinner, offering an extensive menu with high-quality and delicious food. The service is exceptional, thanks to the attentive and well-mannered staff who went the extra mile to ensure our dining experience was unforgettable. The ambiance is delightful, adorned with beautiful decor. I'm eagerly looking forward to returning here in the future.

The best service I have seen so far! The staff were pretty knowledgeable, polite and friendly, interactive, and explained all the dishes enthusiastically. I had a lot of fun interacting with them. They even replaced the dish with drumsticks feeling it might have gotten soggy without us telling a word.

Visited Masque for dinner the other day. It was my first visit to this joint I'd heard so much about. We had the famous 10-course Modern Indian Cuisine tasting menu for the current season. I won't disclose details of the courses as it's meant to be a surprise. But out of the 10, I absolutely loved 5 of them. About three courses were decent with nothing to write home about and remaining two courses were not great. But I'd let it slide as the chef and his team really force themselves to innovate and change the menu every 3 months as per the season which is commendable. The chef tried to highlight less popular regional ingredients and dishes to showcase the massive diversity in the country's food. The service was very attentive and prompt with a very high staff to customer ratio. And each and every staff was very passionate and well versed with all dishes, ingredient sources and the thought behind creating these dishes that added another dimension to the experience. Interiors were understated but sophisticated as I'm sure the restauranteurs would want the food to speak for itself. Hoping to visit again for the next menu!

A culinary delight, it's a feast for the senses with an extensive menu of high-quality, delicious food. Exceptional service makes it the best place for dinner.

What an incredible experience! Yes, it’s going to be an expensive meal, but if you’re considering going here, you already know that you pay for the conscious effort, thoughtful sourcing of ingredients and a masterful culmination of the same to present you with an experience that you won’t forget. Will you leave this place hungry? Absolutely not. Even if you’re not satiated after the 10 courses you can ask for as many repeats of as many dishes as you like. But we really didn’t need to. The food: The pork belly was the best morsel of food I had eaten in a whiilllee. The paan dessert was not what we were expecting and it was a little underwhelming.

I recently dined at 'Masque', and it was an exquisite culinary experience. From the moment I walked in, the ambiance was inviting and cozy. The menu offered a delightful array of dishes, each bursting with flavors and beautifully presented. I particularly loved the cheesecake and other dishes too, all the dishes are a perfect blend of textures and tastes. The service was impeccable, with attentive staff who made the evening even more enjoyable. It's a must-visit for anyone seeking a memorable dining experience. I can't wait to return and explore more of their culinary delights. A must go to place with your family members. Don't miss this weekend.

Dear Masque Restaurant, I am writing to express my heartfelt appreciation for the amazing experience I had at your establishment. I recently had the pleasure of dining at your restaurant and I must say, it was an absolute delight from start to finish. Firstly, I would like to commend you on the outstanding service I received during my visit. Your staff were incredibly well trained and attentive, and their friendly and welcoming nature made me feel right at home. They were knowledgeable about the menu and made excellent recommendations, which greatly enhanced my dining experience.Speaking of the menu, I must say that your tasting menu was nothing short of fantastic. Each course was expertly crafted and beautifully presented, and the flavors and textures were simply sublime. It was clear that the chefs put a great deal of thought and care into every dish, and the quality of the ingredients was truly exceptional. What I appreciated most, however, was the creativity and originality that went into each dish. The unique flavor combinations and unexpected twists made for a truly memorable dining experience, and I left feeling inspired and satisfied.Overall, I would like to extend my sincerest thanks to everyone at Masque Restaurant for making my visit such a wonderful one. I will definitely be returning in the future and recommending your establishment to anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience.

Amazing restaurant specializing in combining flavors from all across India to create new and exciting dishes! We had a dinner here for my brother’s engagement party and the restaurant was very accommodating! Amazing cocktail pairings with each course!

I recently stayed at Masque and had a fantastic experience. The food was exceptional, offering a diverse menu with delicious options. The amenities were top-notch, from the well-equipped gym to the relaxing spa. The staff’s hospitality and attention to detail made my stay truly enjoyable. I highly recommend Hotel Best for a comfortable and memorable stay.

Masque, a modern Indian restaurant, offers a culinary experience that seamlessly blends tradition with innovation. The ambiance exudes sophistication, providing a tasteful backdrop for a memorable dining experience. The service is attentive, complementing the upscale atmosphere. What truly sets Masque apart is its inventive approach to Indian cuisine. The menu showcases a contemporary interpretation of traditional flavors, with each dish presenting a delightful fusion of textures and aromas. Standout dishes such as [specific dish] exemplify the chef's mastery in elevating classic Indian ingredients to new heights. While the prices align with the fine-dining experience, the culinary journey at Masque is undoubtedly worth the investment for those seeking a refined and modern take on Indian gastronomy.

Had the most amazing experience and a fabulous dinner setup for my special night. Can’t thank the staff and team enough for making it the most special day of my life. The food was top notch with various ingredients sourced from India and showcased in a unique mannerism which isn’t available in Mumbai. Every meal was explained very well with minute details of the produce and the ingredients. A food galore tucked away in a hidden corner of Mumbai. A must try for all foodies and food connoisseurs alike.

Great meal, great farm to fork concept! It's a pleasure to see a restaurant that has maintained great quality of food while supporting local indian suppliers! I have been to restaurant twice and had the 6 course meal and the ten course meal and honestly all the courses were super each with their own unique flare! The menu changes often based on availability of local indian produce. I guarantee I'll be visiting often!! Check it out, it's superb!

Some special has opened its doors in the back streets of Mumbai. Tonight we dined at Masque, the first of its kind not just in Mumbai but in India. A restaurant and Cocktail bar with a farm to fork ethos and a passion for foraged and locally sourced produce. With 10 delicious courses that included a Duck Doughnut with roasted peach jam, Indian Brie style cheese with fresh apple and crispy potato, BBQ Chicken with pickled cucumber and lime foam, Scampi and Oyster Mousse, Sea Buckthorn Sorbet with black pepper cream....I could go on but you will just have to make the trip to the hottest new place in town. A great restaurant with a talented chef and some equally talented bartenders who have created a top class drinks menu that should be sampled to be truly appreciated. Thank you for a truly great and memorable evening!

Went yesterday for the second time , loved the concept of only locally (Indian) grown produce being used , everything was very fresh , the presentation the taste and the quality all were top notch . Must go for everyone

One of the most amazing dining experience we had. A Michelin started restaurant would be proud to bring this into life. The marriage of flavours, colours n hues tucked into the wide experimentation of the chef transports the foodie into a world of gastronomic surrealism. Thanx Aditi / Jami walker for curating just a amazing journey. Guys - keep walking

Undoubtedly the best restaurant in India. Loved the food , the restaurant and kitchen tour and interaction with the chef....Over all a great experience.

Not good desperately trying to be fine dining not succeeding just by throwing some flowers in your food doesn't make it taste better it's a joke . All hype super disappointing
Cereno SimÔes
The most pretentious and basic food I've ever eaten for such exorbitant prices. By the end of the 9 courses, we were still waiting for the "real" food to come. Such a shame considering it's a nice looking restaurant.

Much needed addition to the Mumbai food scene. Fantastic food, cocktails and staff!

One of the Bestest Fine Dining Experience I have had soo far and they call the masque experience!! Cocktails are Fab and Food makes your taste buds happy..
Leslie Graske
The Cocktails were grand, including the invent-your-own, which you can name. They preserve your recipe and give you a metal card to keep. Each course was bliss, Indian sourced and innovative prepared. The service was excellent as well. All told, a wonderful evening.

I can say but the food here is really awesome taste is amazing especially the starters a variety to try and moreover u can order any starters and m sure it will not disappoint your the main course with gravy are mostly good.

Frankly, massively overrated. Expensive bit is fine, if it’s really worth. <br/>Over indulgence and nauseating stories on every piece of meal, was overbearing. Stories would have been fine, if food was good. <br/>Overall, most amongst us were trying to fake it, till I made an honest comment and everyone agreed with what I write above <br/>
The Sunday Suppers
<br/>From the Corn Mole with its Mexican hangover to the Tomato Tart to the fermented peach butter that goes so well with the freshly baked Rye bread, the sensory delights emanating from the food are just about doing that merry dance. Then enter Kashmiri morels and finally some serious pandering of the sweet tooth - the buckwheat Pondicherry chocolate. The piece de resistance is the show stopper - the Coffee beignet! Imagine a donut that bursts in your mouth in a range of temperatures and textures - letting off a surge of espresso coffee eventually. Sheer heaven.

This place is not a restaurant, it is an experience! <br/>Every dish and every course has been curated with exotic ingredients and local produce from the chef/owner’s hometown. <br/>The menu changes every 2-3months, we got to experience the flavours of Uttarakhand & Ladakh. <br/>The restaurant is chic and sophisticated.<br/>So spic and span, loved every bit of it. <br/>The chef himself comes to your table and explains every dish and helps you indulge into a fabulous gastronomic experience.<br/>The best part of the entire 10 course meal is that they take you to their impeccably maintained kitchen for one of their courses for palate cleansing! They absolutely love showing off their kitchen and believe that’s what make their restaurant an unforgettable experience.<br/>This concept is very new and people expecting regular dal tadka and naan or masaaledaar food can give it a miss! <br/>The sommelier was very knowledgable and briefed us about the wines we tasted. <br/>This restaurant is only for people wanting experiment and enjoy a brand new outburst of flavours and dishes which come out looking straight from the “Masterchef’s” kitchen! <br/>Definitely going back again for their next menu!
Two Mouths Full
This one restaurant that takes its food ...and its customers seriously. The focus is local and seasonal. which is in keeping with some of the biggest global food trends and is also a sustainable way ahead for the planet at large. Elegant and understated interiors. The refined and elevated manner in which the individual ingredients are understood and treated is obvious from the word go. The vegetables are grown at their own farm. We could taste the freshness in the vegetable tart and the corn puri. We loved the curry leaf relish on the chicken. The fried chorizo brioche was a treat. We can't wait to return. The sommelier is really knowledgeable and it was a pleasure listening to him as we tried some of the wine they had on offer.  If the food is that good, we aren't complaining about the tab.
Kalpesh Shah
Absolutely not worth the price tag! Portions were too small, the concept has lots of elements but without a WOW FACTOR. 1st & last time. Would not recommend.<br/><br/>The ambience of the restaurant had no elements which clearly lacks the Wow factor. <br/><br/>Service was pretty ordinary. The time taken between courses were too long. At times, felt like just getting up & go off the place. <br/><br/>Sorry, a big NO to this restaurant which is located deep inside a mill compound where you can’t find a soul.

Masque is really a hidden gem located in Mahalaxmi. I went to this place for wine tasting and we were served a lot a appetisers to team with wines we tasted. Firstly, I loved the ambiance here. It’s spacious and a perfectly classy place for an office or official outing. ..Were were served a lot a snacks that go well with wine. Tomato tarts, chicken lollipops boneless, a Boa like appetiser. All these snacks were unique and something that I have not tried before. ..In wines, I tried migration and Chardonnay n don’t think anything can go wrong with that. The best part is people n servers here who know what they are doing. They know every wine n food item in and out, will make the best suggestions to make your experience awesome. Not to mention, it’s quite a classy place with top class crowd. The food quality says it all. ..We also got a chance to take a sneak peak into their kitchen and trust me 90 percent of restaurants steer clear from showing their kitchens to customers. But they proactively ask people to do take a look. The restaurant has won several awards n the chef who we met in person is really good in his craft.

This place is nothing short of innovative, sublime & divine. The amount of love & care taken to make the menu is so visible & the ingenuity of the menu is just beyond. Not only is it an experience, it's beyond one's imagination too.<br/><br/>I've had the pleasure of eating every one of their menus since they started and never have i been disappointed. Don't take my word alone. Try it sometime.

Excellent place! Best food I have ever had! Worth the price!

Words fall short when describing this place. Masque is a place for people who feel food . Food is god here and so are the flavours. Such places are very rare in India. It’s India’s Michelin star restaurant. Love the place

Went here but honestly wasn’t happy with the overall experience.<br/>Yes the ambiance and the service is very classy but in terms of food I personally think it’s not worth it.<br/><br/>They serve fixed courses of meal which doesn’t give you an option to choose what you want to have.<br/>It might suit other people but it didn’t go well with us.<br/><br/>Also the quantity of food is just not enough <br/>Yes the preparation & the presentation is fancy but in not stomach feeling.<br/><br/>The time taken between for the preparation of dishes is too long.<br/><br/>Considering the price, it wasn’t worth it.<br/><br/>

My wife and I are from Manhattan. We know what a good tasting menu should be. To be fair, the restaurant was attractive, but that's where it ends.<br/><br/>Let me start with the cocktails. The bartender comes to your table and describes some of their signature cocktails. He explains how he can make a fruity drink by hydrating, dehydrating, rehydrating and then freezing tomato juice until it tastes like fruit juice. I'm thinking "wouldn't it be easier to just start with fruit juice?" He also describes how he freezes the liquor in Kelvin (not Celcius). Did I forget my Kelvin converter or was I simply trying to order a cocktail.<br/><br/>After his too long presentation about his "incredible" mixology skills, I order a Manhattan (Bourbon and Sweet Vermouth with some bitters). He actually replied, "I can make you a Mojito." I said,"I would prefer a Manhattan." "He tells me he has a secret recipe."<br/><br/>At this point, I go to the bar to watch him mix the "alleged Manhattan". He has beekers, test tubes and all sorts of strainers just like the one we all used in our 8th grade chemistry class. I can't figure out what he's making other than the fact that he put less than one ounce of Bourbon in my $20 drink. He then puts so much ice and spins it for 60 seconds so that the $20 cocktail seems less embarrassing than it actually is. At this point, I know it's my last cocktail with dinner.<br/><br/>My wife and I order a 10 course tasting menu. She ordered it with (believe it or not) a cocktail pairing. It comes with four cocktails that allegedly has liquor in it.....but I tasted all of them and they tasted like MOCKTAILS.<br/><br/>As an experienced diner, I know that there are several types of tasting menus. I would describe their tasting menu vision as similar to Thomas Keller's vision (i.e. French Laundry, Per Se). They strive for an abstraction of food through hydration and rehydration processes. The only problem is that this is very complicated to do well and Thomas Keller has figured this out, but Masque has NOT. To be fair, they put a lot of work into the food, but it wasn't great - it was good but not great. Also, to be fair, they give you a lot of food, however, I prefer great food to lots of food.<br/><br/>Now for the service. The service was a solid six out of ten. It wasn't bad and it wasn't great. Our server was very nice, but it wasn't well trained, fine dining service.<br/><br/>Masque, by India standards, is an expensive restaurant. I would not go back and I certainly wouldn't recommend it to friends. Go at your own risk!

Some experiences in life you cherish for years to come like camping under the stars near Chandrataal Lake in Himachal or watching rhinos rambling about as the sun dawns over Kaziranga.<br/><br/>The 14 courses at @masquerestaurant was one such experience which will linger in our memories for a very long time.

Masque offers a premium set course menu only and is located at Laxmi Mills, Mahalaxmi. The chef designs a 10-course Indian tasting menu which is ingredient driven. We visited for the specially designed Indian Chinese menu consisting of dishes that combine the food and culture of both countries and definitely won our heart! The Indian Chinese menu only lasted for 2 days! This luxorious dining experience is a must visit to celebrate any occasions! PS- Every single course was a must have!đŸ€€ The menu included :<br/>Corn curd<br/>Impossible hot pocket<br/>Sunchoke | fermented tomato | fennel <br/>Morel | pumpkin| black sesame | Chile oil <br/>Celtuce | turnip | pear and sesame granita<br/>Char sui beetroot | sweet potato | ginger-scallion katlam <br/>King oyster | mung bean noodles<br/>Seaweed butter | preserved lemon | smoked chile <br/>White sesame ice bao | apple jam <br/>Turmeric | orange | white chocolate <br/>Kahwa | chocolate<br/>

I love how i discovered parts of my taste buds which had been dormant for ages. What I think could improve is the description of the food. The staff did come and explain each dish, but due to the background noise and the complication and variety of the dishes, it would certainly be helpful for a written description. Its a great place for some unique kashmiri /ladhaki food!

I loved the concept. The chef collects authentic ingredients from all over India and makes fusion food. They have a set menu which changes every month. It’s a 10 course meal with the best proportion. We had around 16 dishes including dessert. The staff is so humble and well spoken. They took us to their main kitchen for one of the dishes and we could interact w the chefs. Such Innovative creation! Loved the experience. Might be a little pricey. They also gave us a complimentary chocolate packet.

Went in with my sister who has been here before. Menu was inspired by ingredients from Ladakh. She and I were going gaga over everything served in the 10 course meal, trying to find closest parallels but just not being able to. Spoiler alert - the dessert course was actually 3 desserts and I am still trying to figure out which was my favorite. I wish I still lived here and could go there more often! This is how dinner should be...

Hands down the best meal of my life!! The menu was innovative and unique and all the dishes were absolutely delicious. The staff are incredibly polite, friendly and well informed about the menus and are accommodating to any food preferences. Their turmeric and ginger gin and tonic is to die for! Worth every buck!! I would definitely recommend this place to people and will definitely return! :) Left the restaurant with the biggest smile on my face!

I visited this place some time back with my friends. We opted for the taste menu (you can basically taste all the signature dishes with this). They explain the concept behind each dish which is great. I mostly loved all dishes in the menu other than one or two. Overall a great experience.

As food bloggers, we’ve visited restaurants falling under the category of serving great food or restaurants which had a beautiful ambience and dĂ©cor or a bit of both. We recently visited a place which hailed from a third category – that of ‘experience’. Masque is located near Mahalaxmi Station and has a very unique proposition.

This place is an absolute delight. The chefs and the team really puts a lot of effort in curating the menu and selecting the ingredients. You will probably never find these dishes anywhere else. The chef explains each dish and how it is prepared. I especially liked the course where they take you to the kitchen and offer you the course. Great going!

Well managed staff with amazing ambiance and variety of food. They serve 10course menu which is exclusively grown in their farm ..drinks are slightly costly but the food is amazing

It’s been a long time since I’ve had such a feeling of contentment after a meal and it’s experience. <br/>The team at Masq is so nice, warm and friendly which makes a customers experience so enjoyable. They all seem very passionate about what the stand for as a brand which is Indian farm fresh produce. Every course is full of thought, love and flavour. Overall a wonderful meal and evening. Thank you Masq.<br/>Special meantion to our host- Ayush. Thank you for such a great evening!

Truly a wonderful dining experience that I will always cherish. The innovative n delicious food, the ambience and the absolutely wonderful service will always make me go back to this lovely little place.<br/><br/>The freshest of ingredients sourced from all over India, the artful and long hours of preparation, the unusual combinations of ingredients are a delight to savour! <br/><br/>There is no menu so just sit back and let the surprise culinary journey begin to tickle your taste buds.<br/><br/> Just when we thought we couldn’t eat another morsel - there came the desserts ......... not one not two but SIX and each better than the first!<br/><br/>Thoroughly enjoyed the experience and recommend that everyone try it at least once.

Food - 5/5<br/>Presentation- 5/5<br/>Service- 6/5 (it's not an error)<br/>The foodie in me had a massive foodgasm after visiting Masque for dinner last night. I fell in love with the concept and play with flavours and textures. What topped it up is the service. Special thanks to Hriday, our server and guide for the night, for patiently answering all our questions and explaining small details about the dish. It just made eating it even more amazing. I do visit a lot of fine dine restaurants in Mumbai but this one was truly an experience I will cherish for long. And finally it furthers confirms my belief that Ingredients play a massive role in making good food.

We went here after hearing nothing but praise from our friends. Our experience at Masque was below average. Of the 10 courses, we liked just one. 4 of the courses were desserts and were excessively sweet that we couldn’t get ourselves to look at the dessert plates after the first bite. The restaurant has tried to introduce new flavors and techniques but has done poorly in implementing it. The food tasted sub-par and it was a total waste of ~14k for three of us.

A rare gem. A best kept secret of Mumbai. In an off beat location. Baaed on the concept if Masquerade the decor is theatrical. Ask the staff there to explain it to you! A set tasting menu on offer. They say 10 courses but its almost 15! Bite size courses so you get to sample a lot of variety. A contemporary & continental take on Indian dishes. A Himalayan touch this month to the courses. Ingredients led & flavorful. First course is an invitation into the kitchen & that’s a huge leap of faith as clients walking into kitchen is a nightmare for most restaurants. Some really exotic dishes & ingredients there to sample. Presentation is simple & elegant sans the usual molecular gastronomy fumes & sounds. What struck me most is the knowledge of staff on dishes & wines & ingredients as also the their enthusiasm, pride & joie de vivre. It is indeed a huge statement for a brand when their ambassadors are evangelical like this. Well done chef Prateek & Aditi. You have a winning concept here. Prices for this experience & the wines are a tad steep compared to similar in other countries in my personal experience.

Appetisers through to dessert every dish was a tickle on the palette with the flavours of spice and taste. Sharing a few clicks for visual pleasure. Definitely a place for those looking to have a "masterchef" experience...

If you are a fan of unusual foods, textures, flavour combinations and try experimenting with food, this place is an absolute must visit. Their theme of locally sourced food is great and they combine it with global cuisines to deliver a tasting menu which is truly a pleasure to eat. Would rate them 5/5 on food and presentation. The service and ambience make it feel too fine dining to me and the price point of spending a $100 per person without alcohol is too steep. If there was a trade off to make the food more accessible price point wise, would love to visit more. Else even though the menu changes every few weeks, visiting other than for a celebratory occasion seems difficult.

I took while post my dinner for this review, as was thinking that chef and team has done the hard work to curate the dishes and bring them with an experience on the table; then why shall I comment on the efforts as it takes a lot of thought and hard work which most of the people in this city will not understand.<br/><br/>After doing numerous sit down dinners across the globe this is the first one influenced by Northern part of India and I would simply say go there for an experience and don't judge the food....but will you be regular here .....that what I am thinking.<br/><br/>Food nice, tried the complete chef's course; collection of alcohol is nice though cocktail needs some extra touch and a nice cosy decor <br/><br/>Enjoy the moment with meal

Masque .. a dining experience ..<br/>I have been here earlier and most definitely loved it the first time !!<br/>Every course was interesting , experimental , and flavourful <br/>I was v keen to take my son who lives in SF and who frequents Michelin dining places there <br/>to this place and this is my feed back on my recent experience with my son and husband..<br/><br/>First course in the kitchen <br/>The chewy texture of the beetroot was predominant and good <br/><br/>Second course of the cherry tomatoes was fresh and subtle <br/>Third course of the buckwheat toast with chili paste n smoked apple was average <br/>The tender coconut and strawberry with the coconut broth n very spice was good <br/>And subsequently all the rest of the course had the similar broth and very spice ..<br/>The veg main course of mushroom was a bummer <br/>Not a wow dish for sure .. tooo complicated and confused Flav <br/>Wish there was. A tangy congee broth to give it a break from only creamy n yoghurt /creamy texture <br/><br/>The paani poori course was good <br/>The flat carWy seed tortilla.. ( unfilled kachori base to be exact) was average <br/>Wish there was something other than 2 fried based course back to back ...<br/>The bean based course with the rice crisp was good <br/>The bread was a good course and what came with it again a coconut creamy curry broth with the very spice .. <br/><br/>The palate cleanser of the guavava granita was refreshing <br/>The desserts ... were nothing to rave about <br/>Surely can get more creative on it ...<br/><br/>Over all not a wow experience <br/>My son had the same feedback <br/><br/>I am a food blogger and a recipe designer by the name unguiltbymadhu from mumbai !!<br/><br/>I was looking out for an outstanding experience!!<br/><br/>I requested the team to give me a detailed ingredient of each course over email just for my reference .. I have not received it yet ...<br/><br/>The service was fantastic!!<br/>Ambience average !!<br/><br/>

Masque is one of those places we have been wanting to go for ages but somehow hadn’t gotten around to. Finally we made a booking to celebrate a loved one’s birthday and boy were we delighted!!! <br/><br/>This place is located in one of the bylanes of Mahalaxmi in a location you wouldn’t associate with such a fancy place. When we reached here this place almost felt like one of those exclusive pop ups and when we entered it felt like a very cozy, intimate and exclusive set-up with only a few tables. The place focuses on serving food in line with the personal experiences of their head chef Prateek Sandhu who grew up in Kashmir. They offer a tasting menu with an end to end 16 course offering which transports you to a whole different world. <br/><br/>We enjoyed every moment of the almost 2.5 hours experience and savoured every dish even those which seemed unfamiliar to begin with. It was a culinary journey across appetisers, main courses and desserts which spanned the whole spectrum of proteins for non-veg (chicken, lamb, pork, quail, baramundi, mackerel and crab) and for vegetarians (mushrooms, black beans, pumpkins etc.).<br/><br/>We especially enjoyed the dehydrated carrots, buckwheat bread with mackerel, the pork main, the overnight cooked black beans, lamb as well as the Kashmiri porridge which was to die for. <br/><br/>They also offer a look at their spick and span kitchen and make you meet the men and women behind this path breaking set-up. Special suggestion - Go here ready to be surprised, delighted and awed by the sheer bravado and magnificence of the chef and the set-up. Eagerly looking forward to their 30 day menu change to go back again!!
The Intrepid Gourmand
Terrific one of a kind restaurant in Mumbai. Unusual ingredients, familiar dishes with a twist, based on traditional Kashmiri food, yet progressive Nouvelle Indian cuisine with its heart in the right place. They only have a 10 course meal (veg or non veg) which stretches to 12-14 courses. And please don’t go if you are in a hurry. It takes at least 2.5 - 3 hours to eat here. It’s an experience worth having for any genuine lover of food. It is not cheap, but great value for money. The sous vide mackerel, pork belly, quail yakhni and the Kashmiri bread were the pick of the dishes.

Masque: An Excellent Indian Molecular Gastronomy with a Kashmiri Touch <br/><br/>An ingredient driven Indian luxury dining restaurant where your first meal starts from their very own kitchen. They bring food sophistication to the Indian cuisine, where flavours stand out on their own. The creativity of each of the dishes, fresh ingredients and excellent presentation makes it an extraordinary experience. Spoiler alert - food here is much beyond the butter chicken, kabab and daal cuisine! <br/><br/>Most of the dishes I tried were inspired from Kashmir (Chef Prateek Sadhu’s birthplace). I was surprised to know that Kashmiri cuisine is a lot more than a Wazwan. Kalari Cheese from Jammu, Buckwheat from Ladakh, Kashmiri Veri masala, Katlam a Kashmiri bread and Kashmiri Kawa were few of the many ingredients used in this course.<br/><br/>Read more on: foodieinboots

Fine dining in Mumbai is difficult to find. <br/>Excellent 10 course degustation menu. <br/>Service is great and each course is explained in detail. You can opt for matching wine or cocktails too

Masque remained an enigma till the time we decided to visit it to celebrate my wife's birthday!<br/><br/>Immediately after I made a reservation, I received a confirmation call and was asked if we were vegetarians or otherwise. Quite neat I thought but still wasn't expecting a surprise when I saw the unassuming facade and simple (almost hidden) door. But, as you enter, the decor immediately gives out an air of sophistication as do the hosts who take pains to explain the 10 course tasting menu! Extremely polite and very well versed with everything you enquired about, everyone - from the chefs to the servers - was delightful!<br/><br/>The first course starts from the kitchen. And that's when I thought that this place was special! What followed for the next 2.5hrs was a gastronomical delight, to say the least!<br/><br/>From the use of freshest of ingredients to the best of cooking techniques, from the varied flavours to the amazing textures, from the re-imagination of simple dishes to the sophistications in presentation and plating, everything about each course was perfect, unique and exemplary.<br/><br/>The menu was based on Kashmiri cuisine to which Chef Sadhu has done wonders.<br/><br/>All in all, a very well spent evening! Will definitely be back, very soon!<br/><br/>PS - the Kashmiri bread (katlam) and the chilli oil infused butter is out of the world!<br/><br/>

I surprised my wife on our anniversary... Absolutely loved everything about the place<br/><br/>This place serves a 10 course fine dine meal..<br/>The first course was served in the kitchen. Each course served is bought to the table by one of the chefs who explain the ingredients and the story behind every dish.<br/><br/>Absolutely loved the concept and the food... great ambience and superlative service<br/>Special mention for the cocktails served here.. tried a few gin based cocktails and they’re as good as one can find anywhere across mumbai.<br/>

Rating - 4.5<br/>This is one place you would want to visit for a special occasion - birthday, anniversary, proposal. They serve a set 10-course menu, which changes every month. All the ingredients are locally sourced, mostly from the owner’s farm near Pune or quite a bit from Kashmir. Though the portions are small, I was quite full by the end of the starters, unfortunately. Out of the 10 dishes, I easily liked 8 of them. Usually the first course is served in the kitchen, but since there was an electricity glitch the day we went, our last desert course was served in the kitchen. I was surprised to find the massive staff in the restaurant, but then considering the detailing and ingenuity in each dish, it was justified. <br/>I loved the way a different person was presenting each dish, and explaining the story behind it. The place is a definite 7 star in terms of service and hospitality. <br/>Coming to the ambience, it is classic and minimal. Not overdone or gaudy, which was perfect. <br/>Highly recommended, for special occasions or surprises!

By far the best tasting menu meal I have had in Mumbai <br/>We went for an 8 course lunch on Sunday and were truly delighted with what they offered. Our friends enjoyed some good gin cocktail pairings.<br/>Every course was well thought through and they catered to every need including gluten free and no pork and no crab etc in a table of four.<br/>Especially as the menu changes by the season, will definitely want to go back.

Had a great brunch at this place last month. The whole food experience is very unique ala chef’s table for indian food. We also had some great cocktails and the team made some custom cocktails for us.

Brought my partner here for his birthday and it was amazing. Masque is a place you go for the experience as much as the food. The tasting menu keeps changing - we had the ten course non vegetarian one. The balance of flavours was just right and each dish has a unique twist. Many of the ingredients are fresh from their farm. The service was also really stellar. Highly recommend for foodies! Thank you Masque it was perfect!

How can anyone charge so much for food? If you are a vegetarian then it seems all the more expensive. Extremely small portion sizes, not really filling your stomach in spite of being 10 courses. Exotic names but not quite there in terms of flavour. Really reminds you that don’t judge a book by its colour. In food the most important thing is how it tastes and how the flavours come together, but this place just didn’t get it right in terms of any of the courses. You walk out feeling cheated
Raghupalat
Masque is an amazing restaurant. Follows the concept if farm to fork. All the ingredients are fresh. Brought from places like Kashmir. The food is multi course. You can have 5 courses or 7 courses etc. everything is cooked to perfection and so it’s impossible to recommend any one dish.

Heard about it from a colleague, decided to surprise bae on his birthday and voila! What an experience đŸ„‚âœšThe detailing, style, presentations, the portions, the narratives, the engagement, the minimalist no non-sense ambience, the music added to a real classy evening for us ❀<br/>⭐Loved the oyster appetizers (my first time ever) and you surely didn’t disappoint!<br/>The menu was influenced from the western coastal region of India and had a delightful palate. The place does a menu change every few months, can’t wait to go back and try a new cuisine style đŸœ<br/>The staff was also kind enough to accommodate us even though we were running 20 mins behind our reservation đŸ˜ŹđŸ™ŒđŸ»<br/>Recommended to many. This place is an absolute must-try! I kept it as a surprise treat for my husband on his birthday and he was super thrilled with the entire experience. This place is definitely not for those who are happy with the same ol' comfort food choices but for those who are looking to explore and try new things. It is a whole world of new - new ingredients, new cuisines, new flavors... I mean in one night, I tried (for the very first time) cactus, morels, quince, sunchoke, yak cheese, and the list goes on. The place is totally worth every penny. The ambience is minimalistic helping you focus on the amazing food and the service is really friendly and warm (special mention to our server Ayush). You may not end up "loving" each and every time you have, but that's a small price to pay (IMO) for introducing your taste buds to so many new flavors. Absolutely loved it!

Unbelievable food. Each course was a delight, starting with the apricot Wafer with yak's cheese mousse. You could taste every ingredient and the food was distinctly Indian, yet felt like a complete international experience. The staff were well educated about the courses and the sommelier paired the wines perfectly. Especially the moscatel to go with the desserts. Amazing is the only word to describe it.

One of the finest dining experiences in Mumbai..very good Indian food and with some super cocktails . Creativity is intelligence having fun - Albert Einstein<br/><br/>This is totally true for the food being served at Masque. It is an absolute delight to experience.<br/><br/>We went for the Sunday brunch which was a 10 course meal paired with Gin cocktails. The "dishes" ranged from chicken liver, duck confit, fried oyster and smoked pork ribs to name a few. For dessert we had toasted marshmellow on chocolate cookies and this increadible concoction with toasted granola, olive cake, peanut butter ice-cream and jellied berries from the mountains of Uttarankand. It was as amazing as it sounds.<br/><br/>The Gin cocktails were some of the best I've ever had. The turmeic and ginger infused cocktail that started the brunch was amazing only to be topped off by the Gin and coffee cocktail with cold brew froth on top to end the brunch.<br/><br/>I loved the spatial feeling and the minimal ambeience of the restaurant. The staff is wonderful and very accomadating. Big shout out Chef Varun who was amazing.<br/><br/>Highly recommended, specially if you are a foodie.

Thank U chef @prateeksadhu & @masquerestaurant for hands down the most memorable 14 course dining experience I have ever had....and I literally mean it when I use the word “experience”. What can I say about Masque that hasn't already been said before? Masque is not just a restaurant it is an experience and a fantastic one at that. I've been to Masque thrice already and each time was mind boggled with the different experience that the chef managed to whip up for us. Even when chef Prateek is not around, his staff is also so well trained and fully capable on handling the service with the same perfection. Love the interactive concept with courses that begin in the kitchen and loved the little chocolate give aways at the end. All in all I hope Masque maintains these standards and cocktails:) and keeps giving us more reasons to come back. PS: Your oyster chill mango dish has probably been my most favourite ever!

Came with extremely high expectations but left with a very disappointing experience. <br/>Sunday brunch set menu is less than average in terms of flavor and creativity and not worth the money.<br/>The smoked pork was over cooked and chewy. <br/>The ambience could be better. <br/>Service is too slow. <br/>However, the waitstaff is super friendly and the effort to cook with locally sourced ingredients is much appreciated.

The whole concept is superb. They take their food and the journey associated to it seriously. If you ever want to tickle your food sense and know what a foodgasm is, do visit the place. I had the 14 course meal and absolutely loved it in entirety. The managers and the staff are great, the ambience is perfect for a romantic dinner and the cocktails are refreshingly wonderful. A must visit for the experience<br/><br/>P.S - when I visited the place the menu was underway a change and most of the dishes were on colder palette side.. Would be great if more food on the warmer palette are incorporated into the course

Alas, finally a restaurant in Bombay that takes food to the next level. Incredibly fine food and plating that will blow you away. We went there on a weekday for dinner and had their 10 course Tasting Menu. Each course was a blend of creativity, flavors, plating, etc. Service was impeccable and the Server/Chef personally explained each of the courses to us. We tried both the Vegetarian and Non Vegetarian Menu and both were equally good. The Cocktails were well made too. This place is a little pricey (INR 10k for 2 people) so if you are willing to splurge that kind of money on some good food, think no more and head straight to Masque.

If you are a foodie, and have a wallet to open up then one has to eat here. <br/>It’s what reminded of my international travels when i go exploring cuisines & fine dining experiences. One of the best restaurants I've been to and I truly appreciate the effort to bring out the best of Indian local ingredients as well as cuisine. This was truly one of the best experiences and I will go back again and again for the warmth beautiful atmosphere and amazing food.

Beautiful place. Beautiful food. Amazing mock-tails. The best of the earthen wares used that I have seen in Bombay. Chef Prateek sadhu comes up with a new menu every week. His best dish are on the ala cart menu. My favourite was the carrot cornetto, the sweet potato fudge, the blue cheese churo. The gnocchi with morels. Apparently had loved each and every dish. They all were unique. Only hitch the experience menu without alcohol is for 4800. + taxes. But worth the experience for sure. The place is shut till the 10th of this month. I had been there some time back but reviewing it today. But a must on the list.

Disappointed! I had the 14 course meal but couldn’t indulge in even more than 2 dishes.. didn’t meet any of my expectations.. introduced my spouse to this place and he was disappointed too.. I know the menu keeps changing but the meals we were served were awful! Certainly not worth the money.

Came to Masque after a long long time. The last time wasn’t quite exciting but today I was amazed at the flavour of the food and it’s uniqueness. The duck was the best course hands down left me licking the bowl with my fingers !! The staff the service and the whole experience was one of a kind. Absolute must go for anyone who hasn’t tried this months menu. Thanks Anshaj and team for a super experience. Looking forward to coming soon

Great concept, executed well. The preparations are unlike any other restaurant I’ve been to in Mumbai: painstakingly sourced ingredients, prepared with panache and plated with flair. Recommended for special occasions and small groups.

Masque was one of the places I wanted to visit after hearing a lot about it from my friends. They don’t have a fixed menu for any day and there is no physical menu either! That kind of bummed me out when I realized I didn’t remember the description for most of the dishes. <br/><br/>Other than the food they also have some amazing cocktails that they make from scratch..sorry don’t have any images.<br/><br/>Although it is a bit fancy the restaurant fills up and gets really loud. If it doesn’t fit your pocket just head down for a drink, it’s worth it.

For food lovers who enjoy a michelin experience, this is the place to be! When you opt for an #ExperienceMenu you will be transported into a wilderness-to-table modern 14 course menu. Being a vegetarian, chef Prateek Sadhu and the team at Masque ensured that they pamper me with great food. Great ambience ! Do ensure you haven’t eaten all day to enjoy their lip smacking food. It’s a bit heavy on the pocket so do ensure you check the details prior to visiting, however the experience and food is absolutely worth it !

It could have been my top 3 in the city if they had a few more warmer courses for me. I had the 14 course. LOVED THE SERVICE. This place has few of the best servers in the city. Also the food is more about the experience so I am not going to indulge too much into the nitty gritties of each dish but just mention that most of the courses were more of an assembly than the cooking. I would have loved a little more cooked meat that is hot on a plate. I mean I felt like I could still eat bread after my meal was over. However, I am very new to the fine dine scene so may be it is just not my taste. But based on reviews and recommendations, slightly underwhelmed. Want to visit again though. Much love. Zero hate.<br/><br/>P.S. - Get Zomato Gold you gaaaizz! Bar tender and Manager is awesome. Cheers!

Masque is an artistically done up restaurant, situated in Shakti mills - a very shady locality....but that's only at the onset, once you enter it's a different world.<br/><br/>I'd been here for sunday brunch, it was a set menu, with nothing to refer to. We had to rely entirely on what was explained in very low decibel levels when each course was brought to the table.<br/>It's not quite possible for a detailed review as I can barely recollect the name of each dish.<br/>Of all the curated preparations two dishes that stood out were Mango Tartar and Roasted Almond Sorbet.<br/><br/>Rating:<br/>Ambiance 4/5<br/>Locality 2/5<br/>Presentation 4/5<br/>Food 3/5<br/>Hospitality 4/5<br/>Cocktails 4/5<br/>VFM 3/5<br/>

Undoubtedly the best fine dining experiences in Mumbai. We went there for our wedding anniversary dinner and it was truly special. They have options of 5 course, 10 course or 14 course menu and can be clubbed with wine or cocktail pairing. We did the 10 course menu and it was mesmerising. The menu progressively became intense with each course. <br/>First was the kitchen tour, where the chef explained the concept of farm to folk kitchen and a refreshing orange flavoured granita with crackling hemp salt and some magical oils. <br/>Course two was beautiful looking tapioca and beetroot crackers. <br/>And then we were served the best antipasti we have ever had- corn tarts, chicken and mushroom puffs and chilli mango granita. <br/>Sixth was sourbread made out of 600 days old dough with herbed butter. Not only were these delicious but the way it was presented on a frozen rock and cloth wrap added to the experience. <br/>Then came a mushroom broth preparation for vegetarians and lamb dish for non- vegetarians. Both were superb. <br/>This was followed by a pork preparation for non- vegetarians and a celeriac mains for vegetarians. They were really smooth and high quality. The only feedback here is that two mushroom dishes in quick succession can be avoided. The vegetarian dishes were a little light for dinner as compared to non vegetarian ones as both lamb and pork made the entire meal quite adequate. <br/>The desserts started soon after, with orange ring palette cleanser and a mind blowing sweet preparation with apple honey and apple cider cracker. This was followed by a creme brûlée take on chocolate cookie cake. This we felt can be improved as it was a bit chewy and too sweet. They ended the course with a box of dark chocolate and a chikki kind of chocolate square. <br/>We were given a home made granola as a takeaway. <br/><br/>All in all good place for special occasions and when you are ready to spend more. <br/>

The place delivers a great experience to someone who wants to discover fine dining & modern cuisine. However for foodies , you might leave the place feeling unsatisfied. Would suggest the restaurant to include mains that are a little more wholesome. Also, desserts are could be a little more exciting. All in all a good experience but not sure if I’d go back.

My Experiments With Food!!
The other day we headed to masque for a team dinner. It is located in some mills in mahalaxmi and the entrance so underwhelming that you wouldn't realize a swanky restaurant resides inside! The interiors are minimally done but the high ceiling makes it appear huge and spacious! <br/>This was my first 10 course meal and masque has a concept of farm to food wherein they create their dishes from their own produce! Another thing I would like to call out is the variety of ingredients you wouldn't have tried in any other restaurant!! So let me start describing the dishes (do note they change their menu fortnightly thus these dishes may not feature on the menu again!) <br/><br/>1. Glorified guava chaat: Our first course was a appetizer prepared in front of us in the kitchen. A preparation made out of smoked guava paste, onions, cucumber, radish and some sauces was just delicious! It was served in a wooden bowl with wooden spoon ad the smoked guava flavor was just amazing.. portion size too small but I get it.. 9 more portions to go! <br/>2. Next was a palate cleanser - Tapioca chips dusted with caramelized onion powder barbecue powder and salt. This was served with smoked tomato dip.. I loved it! <br/>3. Next came the avocado yoghurt pillow and the spinach and pine-nut paneeryaram.. both delicious.. paneeryaram was one of my fav dishes of the evening! <br/>4. Next came the beetroot blood Mary.. they claimed it tasted like Bloody Mary but I have not had one before so cannot comment! <br/>5. After 4 appetizers started the main course.. lotus stem, Aubergine and Chinar leaves pate.. a paste of al these ingredients basically! Since I am not a big fan of Aubergine I didn't like it too much but honestly not bad.. <br/>6. Another palate cleanser.. sour bread (no yeast) with capers white butter... it was alright <br/>7. The best palate cleanser wash a warm drink made of almond milk, curry leaves oil and celery oil.. it weird as it sounds it was absolutely delicious!! <br/>8. Next came the ingredient I was dreading throughout.. PUMPKIN! I have had no better form of pumpkin than the pumpkin cheesecake with onion sauce.. a heavy dish and absolutely divine! For someone who doesn't like pumpkin this was certainly a big win! <br/>9. Next came the not expensive ingredient of all (you may not know about it).. guchi mushroom with a 60 layered savory pastry made out of celery, carrots, etc. the mushroom sauce was a absolute show stealer! <br/>10. We move to desserts and what a start! Rice ice cream with aerated chocolate mousse and caramel crumble.. the ice cream tasted just like kheer.. so awesome.. the crumbles went well too! Dunno what was aerated.. the mousse felt fluffy so perhaps that was the intent!<br/>11. Coffee donut.. mini donut filled with liquid coffee.. tasted just like filter coffee! Really liked it! A memorable dish! <br/>12. And the jaggery candy coated with chocolate and dusted with sea salt! This was really good too!!! <br/>13. That night I had a gun based drink called terra.. it was served with raw tamarind and ginger ale as far as I remember.. really good and one of the places which has spherical ice! (Warning: the drink was so cold that I am still coughing because of it) <br/>14. While you leave they hand you a delicious box of their homemade granula for breakfast.. the granula was really really good! <br/><br/>Overall a really good experience and the food is definitely worth it! But be prepared to shell out 5-7k per person that night .. honestly I have not been to a restaurant as expensive... so try when someone else is paying 😝 also since it is a 10 course meal be prepared that this will take more than a couple of hours to complete! Make sure you have good company for the night! Have fun at masque! And good job team masque!!

This place deserves every bit of the 5/5 rating! We tried the 14 course menu (which i hear changes every month). Each course was different with a burst of flavours that would engulf your taste buds with each bite. The first course is inside the kitchen where the chef made the popular guava chat with a twist. The rest of the courses are served on the table and the variety ranged from lobsters to oysters, lamb, barramundi fish, pork ribs and smoked chicken. The decor is fine and the service is quite prompt. Overall, this is a must visit for any special occasion!

The Masque hosted a Six Hands Fifteen Course Tasting Menu dinner last week and I was quick to grab the opportunity to dine here once again. I chose to stick with just the food and avoid the wine pairing. Celebrated Chef Pratik Sadhu collaborated with Chefs Jonathan Tam and Daniel Burns on this occasion and the result was nothing short of a well coordinated symphony of an innovative combination of ingredients and flavours. Sadhu is obsessed with sourcing nothing but the freshest and indigenous ingredients from across India to be able to create a great culinary experience. The meal started in the kitchen with the first dish, Guava Chilli Lime alongside a demo of the assembly of the dish. After being seated at our table the next lot of bite sized dishes arrived in quick succession - Chicken Liver Waffle Cone, Aebleskiver Crab, Beetroot Chip with a Homemade Dip and Corn pancake with Goan Sausage and aged Cheese. The next course of the Homemade Sourdough bread made from the starter that dates back to the early days of the restaurant and Pickled Chilli Butter (light and creamy) was the stepping stone to the mains. The Oyster Ravioli in Prawn Oil, Squid and Coconut in Cilantro Broth and Aged Potato, Kashmiri Morels and Almonds were absolutely incredible. Next came the Barramundi and Lotus Roots, Kashmiri Black Carrots with Tomato and Raisin and Lamb with Kohlrabi. From here on we switched to the 3 courses of dessert; Seabuckthorn and Carrot, Sweet Potato, Carrot and Beetroot PurĂ©e and Churros with Brown Cheese and Chocolate Dip (beautifully presented in a hand carved Kashmiri Box). Sadhu intermittently visited our table to give us insights into the dishes and his penchant for organic interesting ingredients. As if we hadn’t had our fill, we received a going away ‘gift bag’ with a box of homemade granola and a cocktail in a bottle. Nice Touch! The Masque and Sadhu have seriously upped the ante on the fare on offer and it’s no surprise then that he’s taking the business to another level. My closing to him would be - Take a bow Mr.Sadhu, your time is here.

We chose to go here on our anniversary based on the reviews this place had got on Zomato. Honestly never heard about it before, but it came up as one of the expensive restaurants at power with the others we had visited before in Google searches. Just wanted to chk what the fuss was all about.<br/><br/>Made reservations for 8:30 but had to change to 9 at the last minute, which they politely did, well it was also a Thursday night. Masque is safely tucked inside Shakti mills away from the hustle bustle as compared to the places in Kamla mills or pheonix. Google maps takes you right till the door step even though you are second guessing yourselves once you turn in from the main road.<br/><br/>The ambience is nice, with high ceilings and cozy lighting. They do not have a printed food menu, as they want their guests to experience the food without anticipation.I will not describe in detail the dishes... To not spoil the element of surprise and the pure magic the food creates on your palate. The ingredients in every dish are sourced from all over India. The guests also get a quick glimpse of professional kitchen in the first course where you can interact with the chef as well. The cost of the course is pre decided, which could be on the steeper side at first but the experience is worth it<br/><br/>All in all we had a good time, discovering this hidden gem<br/><br/>P.S. : the photos I've uploaded don't do justice to the taste.<br/>

5/5 !<br/><br/>Are you joking ??!!<br/><br/>This place deserves 5000000/5 !!!!!!!<br/><br/>Infact I would go to the extend to actually stand on the bar table & give the chef with his entire team a standing ovation !<br/><br/>Why you ask ?<br/><br/>Well this place according to me should change its name from Masque to WONDERLAND !<br/><br/>Yes as innumerable aspects of this fine dining restaurant make you WONDER leaving you awestruck , amazed , wide eyed & simply lost for words .<br/><br/>I personally had many 1st times here when I visited it for a 14course dinner .<br/><br/>1st time the 1st course started not on the table but in the Kitchen !<br/>Across the globe the guests are prohibited from visiting the kitchen but here it starts in their squeaky clean kitchen which was a hair raising experience for me as Masque kitchen was pristine white & spotless with handsome chefs in denim aprons !!!! The 1st appetizer was made live for the guest !<br/><br/>You are in for total surprise as the menu is undisclosed & you have no clue what the next course is gona look like .<br/><br/>From paper fine chips in ziplock vacuumed pouches to beverage like bloody mary converted to main course ; every single dish which comes on your table leaves you totally zapped .<br/><br/>Usually the food is supposed to be hot or warm but here two main courses were served chilled !<br/><br/>The ingredients used to prepare the dishes are ALL INDIAN ORIGIN & nothing imported , mostly belonging to northern belt of India .<br/><br/>What made me Wonder was how does the server remember the ingredient names of 14 dishes served ( most of the herbs , leaves & techniques unheard off )<br/><br/>What made me wonder even further that THEY CHANGE THE ENTIRE MENU EVERY FORTNIGHT !!!! 21 new menus for the year with no repeat .<br/><br/>1st time I had to check google on my phone at a restaurant to actually understand what does the ingredient mean & the scientific technique used to cook the dish when the server spoke while serving the dish .<br/><br/>Their bar section raises the expectation at another level altogether .They do not use any synthetic syrups or sugar , instead they make their own concoctions using fresh fruits & flowers along with organic honey , Himalayan salt & the works .Mocktails are made fresh as per the request of the guest .<br/><br/>This restaurant uses a lot of science to create their dishes .The plating , presentation , fragrance , textures involve immense level of Research & years of experience . It takes innumerable failures to create that perfect dish .<br/><br/>No this place is NOT sheer mockery of molecular gastronomy which is loosely accessible across various restaurants .<br/><br/>Variation in terms of Crockery used is bewildering including food served on bonechina , glass , wood , stone & fabric .<br/><br/>This place gives you an experience to be cherished & remembered for a lifetime .<br/><br/>The chef PLAYS with your taste buds , your imagination , heightened curiosity , emotions & senses .<br/><br/>The chef has the AUDACITY to experiment & Challenge the static mind set of the audience & present something which leaves a deep impression worth pondering for long .<br/><br/>Special Mention<br/>The table napkins are made by students of the happy home , school for the blind .<br/><br/>Visit Masque with an open mind as you are in-store for a CIRCUS of nutriment .<br/><br/>Nitika Gupta bows to you .<br/><br/>

One of the best dining experiences in the city. I don’t say that lightly, the restaurant concept of using various Indian ingredients is unique. The enthusiasm of the chef and servers is great. The food over all is outstanding, each course is well thought out and balanced. The cost is definately on the higher side, thought the team at masque does not bring in an attitude or arrogance in their interactions with the guests. They are keen to make sure all have a great experience and are open to talk in advance to customise the courses to take into consideration various dietary requirements and preferences. Highly recommended!
