Review Bastian, Bandra - Mumbai

This place has got the vibe. The food there is just excillent. You can never go wrong with what you order there. The service is so quick that i was shocked at the turn around time, but overall it was an amazing experience

The veg thermidore and lamb ghee roast were amazing. In pic there's the red hot chicken waffle, a bit of a hit or miss.

A cute restaurant with fresh food and excellent Bowls. Layout is simple. We have to climb a flight of stairs and an unassuming door opens up to this cute little restaurant. Service is excellent and the staff are super friendly and prompt. Food is fresh they have some fantastic salads and their bowls can easily be shared by two people. Their take on a watermelon salad, is quite a large portion with lots of lettuce and caramelised walnuts and melons. In starters I ordered the tofu with peanut sauce and Soya dressing. It is quite a unique combination and tastes fantastic. I had also ordered the truffle fries which is quite a large portion and easily shareable between four people. I also ordered the vegan bowl and the chocolate desert which were both mouth watering. A bit of history : This tiny little joint is the original bastian after which Shilpa Shetty opened the second branch in Worli Mumbai with a lavish layout. Overall : it is a good restaurant to go to for lunch in bandra, but endure pre-booking as its always jam packed.

Bastian came recommended by a native 'foodie' friend of ours. Tucked away in the hustle and bustle of linking road, Bastian has a small entrance that's easy to miss. We were the first to walk in at 7pm, however, the restaurant was jam packed by 7:20pm with mostly locals. Service was courteous, food arrived on time and the ambiance was very relaxing. Elaborate menu. everything we tried was extremely tasty and cooked to perfection. We ate way more than normal. Mid-high range prices. Overall, a very pleasant experience. The locals would call it 'yum'. Highly recommended.

Bastian restaurant in Bandra is great! The food is super tasty, and the service is excellent. You need to book ahead because it's quite popular. Prices are a bit high, but it's worth it for the yummy food and top-notch service. Overall, a fantastic place to enjoy a good meal.

Was extremely excited to dine at Bastian as I had heard a lot about this place thru social media. My friend and I were going to the Bandra restaurant for lunch just a day before Christmas so weren't sure if we would be able to get a table so we called before reaching the place. The staff told us they weren't taking reservations but assured us that they will seat us at the bar & will try to get us a table in 15-20mins; they were very courteous on the phone. When we got there, we were asked to wait for 15mins for a table or get started at the bar. We opted to wait in the little balcony area for 15mins while browsing the menu. The Bandra location was a bit disappointing in terms of ambience; perhaps I had huge expectations as this was a Bollywood favorite spot. We then got seated and the service was quick. Our food and drinks were served quickly. The drinks were extremely potent and fantastic. We absolutely loved the food here especially the Animal Prawn appetizer! The dessert was bang on! Irrespective of the ambience at this location, the food here is AMAZING! The place us definitely high-end but the prices are justified with the quality/quantity/flavors of the food they serve! Absolutely going back there again!!!

An amazing ambience with great food and service. The animal prawns are a must try

Has to be one of the best places I've ever eaten (not impelled by recency bias). We ordered grilled salmon, spicy crab thermidor, wild mushroom pasta and truffle oil fries. It's disco for your taste buds. Even though we were struggling to finish, we force fed ourselves because it would've been a shame to let that food go for a waste. Theatrics aside, it was the quality of meat and other ingredients used which makes a big difference; even the dip for fries tasted special and not just another dip. I can recommend everything I ordered there. The cocktail, whiskey sour or bastion sour if it's called, was great too. It's a 10 for quality and quantity both. The ambience doesn't really matter when the food is that great but it could be better. Staff is very cordial and helpful. I can say it was one of the best food experience I've ever had!

After covering both Bastian worli and bandra I think I am at the right spot to write a perfect review. If you leave either of the Bastian restaurants without a dessert that's a crime. We started with a berry delight mocktail which was more of syrup and nothing specific. The special recommendation was animal prawns which comes with animal sauce which is mayo based. This was delicious and a must try because of its crunch. We ordered a pan seared snapper this was a perfect one for seafood lovers. It was cooked perfectly with a lovely presentation. Lemon chicken was not crispy but soggy which could have been better. The Mac was cooked with truffle oil and it was one of the best Mac and cheese i ever had. Now the best part was the breakable cake. It was presented around liquid nitrogen and filled with thick chocolate and hazelnut. This is a must try. The ambience or worli was better than this as they had high ceilings. Bandra property looks like a traditional restaurant.

Ambiance was good but I think we may have ordered the wrong things. Every seafood dish we ordered was overspiced to the point where it was just texture to carry whatever sauce was accompanying the dish. From the lobster to the crab, all I could taste was an overwhelming burst of masala and spice. I couldn't taste the seafood. Frighteningly enough the best thing we had was the bacon naan. The fried mantou was good only because it reminded me of a ham chim peng (another fried Malaysian bread). No issues with the price but only if the primary ingredient (the seafood) were treated with more respect rather than just being a vehicle for the sauce.

This place is one of the best if you crave for seafood. The staff there is very courteous and offer really good suggestions. About the food...... amaaaazing... Animal prawns, salmon with jalapeno, calamari - must haves... price is on the higher side.. but given the quantity and the quality of the food, it's totally worth it.. great ambience. You need a reservation to get a table here , and make sure you do it well in advance. This place is packed even on weekdays.

This place is one of the best. The staff there is very courteous and offer really good suggestions. Food is amaaaazing. The quantity and the quality of the food is best. Super ambience. Even on Saturday eve they accomodated us without reservation; however it is recommended.

The food was okay, didn't tingle my tastebuds well as I was constantly getting a weird oil smell from the food which sort of killed my appetite. The drinks were great and ambiance was beautiful. Being a seafood lover I was not really so happy as I had really high expectations. And I am big time foodie and love the place for its food.

The guys who run this place really care about making the kind of food and experience people can really enjoy. They're foodies and you can taste it! My experience was great. The food was delicious, the menu had variety but wasn't overwhelming and the chef was around to make sure we enjoyed ourselves. I'm not picky though and I don't feel like I'm owed a good time when I go out to fancier places. I just want good food and good ambiance. The extra care and great service here was really just a bonus for me!

Move over Mahesh Lunch Home, Trishna and Gajalee. Seafood has a fresh new flavor in Bombay! Perfectly seasoned dishes, ultra fresh produce, exciting flavors with a heavy Korean/Japanese & Chinese influence with a hearty sprinkle of American indulgence. They even go to an extent to bring non frozen sashimi grade fish which is caught wild and not farmed #winning. Clearly the Chef gives a shit about his menu and his customers. This is the new hot spot in town and I hope it stays that way. MUST TRY: Crab under the bridge and Lobster roll. Desert: The Elvis Cheesecake Dense, gooey just perfect! Bar: Brilliant selection of artisan crafted cocktails, try the Coconut Orgasm. Service: Prompt, courteous and attentive. Improvement: For once I cant think of one. Ambiance: Smart - Casual. Smoking area: Yes Terrace with a view! Value: 9/10 X-factor: Panty dropping seafood. Peace ✌️

Super food.... One of the best place for Seafood !!
Jennifer Sapna Salins
I felt the taste of the seafood was overshadowed by d sauces. Too expensive compared to the portion served. Too noisy and tables are too close to each other.
Jayeeta Chanda
Good ambience and food. Loved the starter and then prawn curry was too good. Gravy was so creamy that you start drooling with the mere thought of the dish. I will love to visit the place again.

A perfect place for a date. The sea-food was amazing in taste and the mood was very romantic inside, great music and very kind staff are a bonus. Lobster Roll and pepper prawns are a must.

Below average seafood restaurant!!! Unlucky for them that we got a live insect in our animal prawns!!! I had a lot more expectations... But fizzeld out it the end... For me it was no better than a takeaway seafood place other than the fine dine feel!!! Sorry.. but i wont be heading back here!!!

Every dish has it's own unique taste and crunch. You definitely cannot speak when you have that first morsel...coz the flavours just burst in your mouth and you need to have a moment to experience the deliciousness. Kudos to the whole team at Bastian...

This was my first and last time visit. Found this place quite over hype. The price was little over. But a good experience to try on when in Bandra.

Bastian is a classy place in bandra with a very different ambience that serves mouth watering food and desserts..Best part of this restaurant is that it has quite a few vegan and gluten-free options..

I had heard a lot about the seafood at this place so had visited it a few months ago with family.. the menu was unique and tasty..

Things we ate:

1) fish and chips - crispy batter fried fish fresh as it could be with crispy fries..

2) lobster thermedor - i do not eat lobster so i didn't want to comment on it, but my parents totally enjoyed it.. when i asked how the dish was their exact words were "divine"..

3) Smores cheesecake - Had heard a lot about the smores cheesecake so thought of giving it a try.. crunchy Graham crackers, melted chocolate, dark chocolate ganache, liquid cheesecake and gooey marshmallows.. by far one of the best cheesecakes I've had!

The flavours of the food were very tempting and the cheesecake very delicious.. however the place is a little too heavy on the pocket..

Fish and chips - 9/10
Lobster thermedor - 10/10
Smores cheesecake - 9.5/10
Taste - 9.5/10
Ambience - 10/10
Prices - 8/10

Can't stress enough on how much I loved this place! Bastian is a very famous and top notch restaurant located in Bandra. The ambiance is joyous and posh with amazingly tasty food. One might find it a bit expensive but it's all worth it. If you're lucky, you might even spot celebrities during your visit as this place is loved by all because of the great service and delicious food.

Had their basque cheesecake . It wasn't fresh and tasted substandard and not the worth the money . Le 15 basque
cheesecake is much better and the slice was really small . I am really disappointed didn't expect this from Bastian . That cheesecake was not even worth 300 bucks

The first thing I've ordered post 22nd March are these very pieces from Bastian. I'm always high on cheesecakes.
1. Turtle cheesecake ✅ (no photo coz mom ate it)
2. Creme Brulee ✅ (same as above)
3. Hazelnut Crunch ✅
4. Basque Burnt ✅

Thank you Bastian and their Head Chef Amol for bringing a smile and sweetening our tooth with such amazing delicacies.

Went here as a family a few months ago. The food is unique and delicious. The menu also changes a few items every month which is great because theres always something new to try out. My family had many non-veg options and I was more than happy with the vegan options available. The desserts also have vegan options, I've had the vegan cheesecake bowl which was really good.

I have been raving about Bastian for long time, finally a lovely place for perfect DINNER DATE.
What I loved about this premium restaurant the Ambience,Innovative Fusion Menu & Fun Eatery Vibe.
We began with Lobster Thermidor: This dish is heaven.Absolutely divine. It is served Macau style with coconut cream and parmesancheese.
Animal prawns:This dish was impeccable! Wok tossed jumbo prawns with the unique animal sauce and candied nuts.
Pair Red Wine(Jacob Creek Shiraz Cabernet) to compliment the Meal & Date.
We were told they have a different menu for lunch and dinner. We definitely want to try their sunday brunch the next time!
Over all we went for a simple hearty meal but that turned out explosive! A 10 out of 10 star for this place!

Perfect place to catch up with buddies. Located in Bandra West , This place is famous for spotting famous celebrities.
A bit expensive but worth the price.
Personal favourite is Crème Brûlée cheesecake dessert .

Apt ambiance for Sunday brunch. Can't complain about the food either! I had a very nice experience here celebrating my birthday lunch.

My friend had heard a great deal about Bastian and after a lot of deliberation, we made it for lunch. Upon recommendation, we started with the wild mushroom truffle pasta with prawns which was an absolute delight. Then we moved onto Malaysian noodles and the Lobster Dynamite lunch. The Lobster was amazing with its pinching flavor as you bite into it, and the malaysian noodles, as a filling dish. We stuffed ourselves with the Turtle slice and creme brulee slice cheesecake. The cheesecake definitely deserves a #WOW.

About the drinks, only the Smoked and Caffeine was ordered along with the Royal Spritzer. Those who wish to have a non sweet drink and like to awaken themselves, the Smoked and Caffeine is meant for you!

We definitely enjoyed our lunch and would be back again to try the othet dishes. Thank you team Bastian!

The mushroom truffle pasta is authentic Italian pasta and I was amazed by it, lived in Italy for 2 years and I was craving for the authentic tuscan food so much and this place fulfilled it.

The restaurant is okay.. food is okay.. I think it is only popular because of the desserts they serve and the celebrity guest list.
Loved their chocolate cheesecake.

Its Valentine's day, drove all the way from town to enjoy a lunch with my husband. Alas it didnt live up to expectation!. Dirty plates, stinky glasses, barbecue prawns came highly recommended but when they came, they were clearly stale, stewed and rubbery. Luckily we ordered only 1 main course, the shrimps in the rice bowl again were clearly stale. The kung pao is like a regular kung poa thats about it!
I asked to just see the dinner menu which they said had a larger selection but it never turned up like its only if u come in for dinner types. I guess if u don't book in advance, u get step treatment u get huddled unto the second floor, with dirty cutlery, bad food and staff who could not be bothered with serving the dishes or even inquiring if the dishes were good. Torn seats can be overlooked if the food is good, but dirty plates and stinky glasses an apetite killer...not worth the drive and dampened the spirit of the day😏
Appie Appz
Located at a fork in the road, on the first floor. Recommend booking in advance. The person who served us was professional and full of energy. A friend had a bad throat, so he recommended a concoction that wasn't on the menu and it was wonderful! We had poke bowls that were good. The service time was quick, hygiene and vibe were wonderful.
Sadhana_VG
The place seemed very ok for all that hype. The food price was very high too for the very okay food. It gets booked easily because of that n hence one has to do an advance booking. On the whole
Food 4/5
Ambience 4/5
Price 3/5
Service 4/5

Tried prawns with animal sauce had a mild taste not to extreme on spices. The serving is good, must try strawberry french toast which is available just on weekends/sunday.

Absolutely loved the food and ambience at Bastian. They serve some of the tastiest ceviche I have had in India -- the fish is chunky and the flavouring is bang on. I was particularly impressed with the lobster dynamite. It was incredible how they managed to pack that kind of heat and flavour while keeping the sweetness of the lobster intact. Quite wonderful! That the cheesecake selection is really good goes without saying, and made for the perfect ending to a lovely meal.
Rohit Jadhav
The place is small but cozy. They have a unique menu that you won't find anywhere else in Mumbai. Good for seafood lovers, the cheesecakes were quite delicious , The staff was courteous and helpful with suggestions from their menu. Little too heavy on the pocket though

Overall do visit it once for their food❤️

So i were pretty excited for the Sunday brunch as I had heard a lot about it . It did live up to its name . We ordered lobster mac and cheese , chicken benedict - with scrabbled eggs on the side with the gluten free pancakes . The pancakes stole the show . They were very fluffy and the chocolate chips melted in your mouth . It’s literally comfort food . Looking forward to try out other dishes in the future . Also make sure to book it in advance as it gets filled up pretty fast .
Abhi.n.mahadik
We went for a group lunch and enjoyed the cozy place with great service and quick turn around of food. Starters we ordered for an array of sea and meat food ranging from lobsters to salted chicken and the fav avocado on toast. From the bowls we ended up ordering more than half the bowls from the menu. The portions were quiet sufficient and filling. I will certainly recommend the place. Overall decent experience. Great service with a smile.

You name it and it is Bastian, one of the most hyped cafe in BOM. I was wondering as to what is with that place that it has so much of hype.

A small door at the ground level which takes you to the first and there you find the beauty with some amazing bottles of wine racked up and the most courteous staff which made me feel welcoming and the menu being the best of all.

Now if you are a SEA FOOD lover then this is the best place you gotta go.

I have tried Fish and Chips in a lot many places but here it was a CLASS APART.

Tried for a chicken starter as well, the meat was so tender that it felt like it was melting.

Would always recommend anyone who visits BOM to definitely go to this restaurant.

YOU WOULD BE IN AWE OF THIS PLACE.

Thanks Bastian for such a lovely experience.

We had been waiting to try this place since the longest time, having heard rave reviews about the desserts from many and from newspapers.

We finally did visit Bastian over the weekend for brunch and it was a perfect start to our Sunday!!

The place was very bright. The crowd was super swish.

One of many dishes was this mouth watering Belgium Chocolate and White Chocolate pancake which was freshly made.

One thing that we liked was the chef himself asking for feedback for all the dishes served on the table.

The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable.

This place is quite famous amongst celebrities and If your lucky enough, you can find yourself seated next to one.

A very classy place to hang out - sea food is the best here. Services are very well done, and so is the ambience.

They are simply good with their food. Quantity is decent. Nice ambience.

This place is amazing for Sunday brunches but be sure to make reservations well in advance; they often get booked out the previous week itself! One of those unassuming places from the outside that you might not go into till you haven't heard outstanding recommendations for it. All the food is delicious, though there are limited options for vegetarians in comparison to the mouth watering seafood choices that the meat eaters are spoilt for! Chef Kelvin Cheung cooks sumptuous food that reaches straight to your heart, which explains why you almost always run into someone from the film industry there.
Simran Ahuja
Absolutely loved the food. The avocado toast was one of the best I’ve tried. Quality of food is wonderful

This place had been on my list since quite sometime! I am not a seafood eater so was just here for the desserts! And I am so glad I could make it to this place because it was worth the hype.
They have a whole list of cheesecakes on the menu and we tried two of them
The 'Ferrero Rocher Cheesecake' and the 'S'mores cheesecake'. And it was divine. I have no words to express how brilliant it was.
From the presentation to the taste to the texture, all of it was simply amazing.
They look normal size but believe me they are too heavy. 4 of us couldn't finish two pieces. So it's even worth the price.
If you love desserts and cheesecakes in general, you must must visit this place.
Next time coming here to try the breakfast menu! Totally worth it! ❤️
Meghal Bansal
The service & ambience are nice. If it’s your first time, the staff is really helpful.
I tried :
1) animal prawns : yum & filling for 2 people. Done well. The prawns retain their original flavour. But if you like a fried taste then probably a stronger dish is recommended.
2) charred salmon on a bed of sushi rice with avocado: never knew that even rice could be charred. The char is the highlight of the dish. However the dish is not filling. The salmon is cut into really small pieces so you don’t feel like you’re having salmon which can be a bad thing.

The starters can be expensive to order and you would expect to be a bit fuller. So it’s better to opt for a main dish and be fully satisfied if you have a bigger appetite.
Overall, the place is good but nothing exotic. The flavours are there but not mind boggling.
Nakul Chikhalkar
Its No doubt One Of The Most Papped Restaurants In Bandra, I have Been To Bayroute Though but This had me through an amazing experience like there is variety towards seafood as per your choice.

I had been here with my Sister a while ago, Really Enjoyed the Ambience, The Cuisine has immense options if you are a coast of a seafood fanatic.

I dont have seafood as such but what caught my eye was the desserts being served here they are the most amazing as per plating being done in the most eyecatchy way as is .

There's Vegan There's Gluten free There are Many Options .

Some Dishes take Time to be served, But genuinely saying like If you are paying that much of a sum that luxury of a treatment is worth the wait and patience as per food dressing is a concern.

We have had,

• Shmores Cheesecake
• Ferrero Rocher Cheesecake

A Merely and Effortlessly Pleasing Dining experience.

Would Love Visiting Again If I be round the corner.
Sasha
Best brunch in Mumbai! Tried the avocado toast, mud crab and lobster taco and loved them all.

Well this place is obnoxiously over hyped for no reason, well went with family as was told this is a good place and lot of people nowadays go here and the place is vibrant, honestly speaking it's nothing like that. It's a normal sitting nothing much fancy, the taste is not good at all and pricing is slightly on the higher side. There are better restaurants in Mumbai with better ambience and food quality. 2 things good here is the customer service and huge portions. A place just miss it not a big deal.
Sahil Bhatia
Okay I think I went on the wrong day at the wrong time. The place is hyped and frequented by celebrities so I thought I should take a chance. The FDs were broken and off we were to eat. However, I ended up with a rather sour deal. The terrible food was combined with being in less quantity. Thank God for that, I guess. The desserts were decent tho. Interior too. The wait time was long. If I go here next time, I make sure that I am not spending my (parents') hard earned money.

Fantastic food, perfect evening spent here! Very unique concept

Bastian is my current favourite Resturant in Mumbai. I personally love visiting them for their Sunday brunch as I am obsessed with their menu. There is no dish I haven’t tired but the best of the best are:
- Taco Salad
- The Lobster Mac
- Filet o’ Fishwich
- Gluten free Red Hot Sandwhich
- Chocolate gluten free Pancake
If you’re in Bombay or visiting the city it’s a must to visit Bastian 🦀

A very famous restaurant in Bandra especially for its seafood. Reading the reviews I was hoping high of this place but I was dissapointed. The ambience is chill & staff is courteous but the food was rather ok. We tried the following.

Veggie Popstickers - 7/10 - 400 - Fried dumpling stuffed with mushroom.
Sauteed Calamari - 6/10 - 675 - Weird, didn't seem like the calamari we usually eat
Animal Prawns - 8/10 - 900 - Nice dish & probably the only likable amongst the lot. But not worth the price & I have had way better ones.
Spicy Crab Thermidor - 6/10 - 800 - Very ok at best. Preparation was in a thick gravy & it was served with slices of bread

The only thing we liked was Budwieser, which was not that chilled.
Maybe it might just be one off or the dishes we tried!

The total bill came to 4626 for 4 people. We then hopped to another restaurant.

The ambience is good and the staffs are super friendly and welcoming. The location is easy to find as it’s just opp national collage in Linking Road Bandra West. I felt the food and the mocktails were average. Nothing out of the world. For two people we ended paying more than 7k which I felt it was expensive. The taste and quantity of the food was average(2 mocktails, 2 starters and one main course- 1 sticky rice and gravy). The place is definitely over hyped because of the celebrities visiting this place 24/7. Have been to much much better place than this with awesome food and paying lesser than this. Paying a bill of 7k is not an issue but it should be worth the price!!! Will not recommend because of price for the food they are charging.

Oct 6, 2019, Sunday, 2000 hours. Linking Road, Bandra.

The Precis:

============================================

#lobsterthermidor #animalprawns #seafood #bandra #cheesecake #sundaybrunch #glutenfreefood #ketofood #octopus #crab #sushi #calamari #tuna #seafoodparadise

The Prelude:

============================================

Recall the red Jamaican-accented crab Sebastian from Walt Disney’s 1989 animated film ‘The Little Mermaid’? Celebrity Chef Kelvin Cheung was probably inspired by it when he opened doors of Bastian on May 29th, 2016. Located at the curb of Burger King on the yuppie Linking Road opposite National College, this is a true-blue sea-food joint boasting of a fare which would put many Tom, Dick or Mahesh to shame. The place is now frequented by Bollywood celebrities and Joshua our manager informed that Tiger Shroff is a regular here every Sunday.

The Picture:

============================================

Despite the premiumness, the ambience is not overly daunting. The place has been designed in the form of a hull. There are dim, yellow lights and there is also a display of vintage wines. Portholes. I was also glad to see Hikvision cameras securing the entire place :)

The Process:

============================================

There is an extreme emphasis on quality and personal hygiene. “We don’t freeze, we just ice-bath. There is an everyday ordering system. We source our meat from only the premium vendors. We have an altogether separate bakery kitchen. All our bread, pastries and cheesecakes are made inhouse. Our ice-creams are also our brand.”

“We clean our kitchen thrice a day. We have seven to eight freezers for stocking different food items. The place is closed on Mondays in the afternoon as we devote that time specifically for deep cleaning.”

The Personality:

============================================

Chef Kelvin has bid adieu to India and his erstwhile colleague, Chef Boo Kim has stepped in his shoes at this place. And he is ably helped by Chef Amol Phute who has some marquee names like The Orcid, Mumbai, The Harbour Bridge Marriott, Florida and Fermont, Dubai, behind him. The place is now owned by partners Raj Kundra and Ranjit Bindra.

The Platter:

============================================

SALMON JALAPENO (3.5/5):

Be warned that this is a cold dish but the chef’s favourite. Filet of the freshest of Salmons garnished with onions, crispy garlic, bits of cucumber and jalapeno served on a bed of Ponzu sauce. Citrusy, soft, and goodness of Norwegian salmon.

LOBSTER THERMIDOR (5/5):

This was a rocker of a dish. Giant lobsters. Served cracked open. A filling of the freshest of meat. Cooked with madras curry, coconut powder and parmesan cheese. The best of the best.

ANIMAL PRAWNS (4.5/5):

This is the same animal sauce which has been made famous by In-N-Out burger in the US. The largest of prawns cooked with this animal sauce, containing house-made pickle, Sriracha sauce and egg yolk and garnished with candied nuts – almonds and cashews. Gobs delightful enough to make anyone crazy.

STEAMED SCAMPI (4.5/5):

For the uninitiated, Scampi is again from the lobster family from faraway Norway. Our fare was cooked with soy, garlic, ginger, and chilli. This was a dish where you threw etiquette to the winds, ventured to pick up the delicacy in both hands, peeled open the shell, scooped the meat with your fingers, and dunked it in your mouth. Cocking a snook at the naysayers nearby.

CRAB IN SZECHUAN SAMBAL SAUCE (5/5):

This was again a ten on ten dish, and it was an even match between this and the earlier Lobster thermidor. Cooked with schezwan Sambal sauce with fermented chillies, onion, garlic, jalapeno, and housemade spices, this was a perfect accompaniment to the burnt garlic fried rice.

BURNT GARLIC VEG FRIED RICE (5/5):

The crab and this went hand in hand. Jasmine rice cooked with zucchini, carrot bits, garlic, scallion. The combination was so heavenly, this could become a complete meal in itself.

The Pleasure:

============================================

SMORES CHEESECAKE (4/5):

Melted marshmallows flambeed on a layer of dark chocolate. Cream cheese beneath it with a base of crushed graham cracker biscuit. Sea salt on the dark chocolate. Cute as they come, the daughter seemed to relish it.

ROCKY ROAD ICE CREAM (4.5/5):

Unlike the stereotypical chocolate ice-cream dunked with chocolate sauce and sprinkled with nuts, this Rocky Road came across as an unusual fare of light ice-cream (made inhouse at that) loaded with endless goodies - peanuts, almonds, cashews and pistachio.

SPECIAL MOCKTAILS (4/5): The bartender also chose to regale us with out of the menu delights - the first one had fizzy pineapple and orange juice topped with honey, lime juice, falernum liqueur, the other one had blueberry jam, watermelon juice, lime juice, falernum syrup and soda. Both went extremely well with the meaty delights.

The Postlude:

============================================

There is no way I am not going back here. This place is here to stay, and stay for good. It is so good, it deserves an award for just being there.

The Proclamation:

============================================

I have not solicited this place for a review.

I have not asked for any quid pro quo - either in cash or in kind - for my review.

I have not used any strong-arm tactics for seeking patronization at this place.

I have not asked for doggy bags and "extras" gratis at this place.

I have not asked for, neither am I engaged in, offering any PR services to this place.

The Parameters:

============================================

The Food Quotient: Food Quality: 5 / 5, Food Choices: 5 / 5, Food Portions: 5 / 5, Food Presentation: 5 / 5

The Other Determinants: Location: 4.5 / 5, Cleanliness: 4.5 / 5, Warmth: 4 / 5

The Hygiene Factors: Ambiance: 3.5 / 5, Space Quotient: 4 / 5, Delivery Time: 4 / 5

The Conclusives: Pricing: 3.5 / 5, Overall Experience: 5 / 5, Will I visit Again: 5 / 5.

The Ps:

============================================

Bouquets/brickbats can be addressed to sanjaynpunjabi@gmail.com or mentioned in the Comments section below.

You can visit my Twitter (@glutttony123), Facebook (sanjaypunjabi.sanjaypunjabi), Instagram (gluttony123) and my blog site as well, just for kicks.

Sincere thanks to stalwart blogger-influencers like rjtsjam, The Bombay Glutton, PetuPetkar, Charlotte Carneiro, Bacon Babe, Pathological Snacker, Sanjay Thampy and a few others whose writing I envy.

A big and grateful shout out to all my 75000 followers, a warm handshake from miles away for making me the Numero Uno in the country.

Restaurant : Bastian
Where : Linking Road, Bandra west
What : New Menu by Chef Boo Bhai, Seafood & Cheesecake.
Cost of Meal for Two : 4200 approx
.
Bastian launched new menu. Chef Boo Bhai is the master behind delectable new menu. Bastian situated in Linking Road, opposite National college, is one of the most followed restaurant in Mumbai.
Celebrities favourite place is paradise for people who love Seafood. It was in my bucketlist since long and finally visited them for lunch.

They have separate menu for Lunch, Dinner and Sunday brunch (A very smart strategy). If you are planning for Sunday brunch, then reservation a week prior is recommended.

Service is extremely polite, courteous, friendly, however I felt it can be more organized with dedicated servers for different areas in restaurant.

Pricing is on higher side but completely justified with food quality, quantity, taste, service, ambience & location. The vibes are positive and music is good. Ambience is pleasing to eye.

Coming to food, specially new menu everything I tried was delight to tastebuds. Be it Norwegian Salmon, Jasmine rice miso sauce snapper, Ramen with Shrimp, Tuna-Salmon Salad, Smokey Prawns, Burrata-Avocado toast or potstickers. The best part is that they have added a lot of veg options in the new menu.

Last was saved for the best. Their cheesecakes be it Ferrero Rocher, Blueberry or Keto one, all are too die for.

It was scrumptious lunch. A soulful meal. I highly recommend Bastian. Go Bastian!!
