Review Pa Pa Ya - Mumbai

abhishek agarwal
What a wonderful food and service , really enjoyed every bit of it. Staff was humble and explained all dishes in detail. This was my first time with sushi and being a vegetarian I had my own doubts about sushi. But I was not disappointed , moreover Tapas was very different in presentation and taste.Mocktail also implicitly proved their claim of experiment with food. Provides valet parking, live music , though space is very limited but they have managed it well. Only suggestion is girl at the entrance seems lacking hospitality skills , we waited there without her acknowledgement for few minutes ,since she was over phone( though talking to other customers only) Even on our interruption we didn't got any answer, she simply neglected us.

It is a really nice restaurant. All the dishes were tasty and amazingly presented The salmon sushi and the crispy lotus stem was amazing but my favorite was a mutton shredded starter which stole my heart. For the main course the burnt garlic rice was amazing. The service can be improved.

Pa Pa Ya is a modern take on classic Asian food where drinking and dining is a thrilling experience full of molecular gastronomy. The journey starts with a refresher in the form of watermelon in lemongrass and chilli foam with liquid nitrogen served on oyster shells. Quite a start! Get yourself a nice drink and take a deep dive in the vast menu. You really have to read a lot and think hard! Don't worry, the staff here is super friendly and will help you find the right things for you. The menu is filled with lots of dishes in small to medium servings which makes it fun since you keep ordering lots of them and pamper your taste buds. The sushi here is excellent with lots of classic as well as house special rolls to choose from. Tapas (small plates) menu is huge where you will always find something that suits your mood of the day. Do try the Edamame beans which you don't find at many places! They also have a special spicy version of the beans which I have not had anywhere in the world. Sliders were interesting and main course items are superb. It must be mentioned that apart from Chicken, their pork dishes are really good too. You top of your experience with amazing desserts. While all desserts are delicious, you can't miss the chocolate ball on fire (check out the video I uploaded). I would conclude by saying Papaya is a perfect place for special occasions and though it is on the expensive side it is not too crazy like five star restaurants. It is conveniently located in Colaba behind Taj hotel. All in all a must try for everyone!

Great place to enjoy some Asian food. Beautiful ambiance, with good music by the DJ. U should definitely try the nigiri tree, which consists of assorted sushi and the chocolate ball on fire. The cocktails are an altogether different experience, taking you on a gastronomic journey.

First things first - loved the courtesy of the staff. The menu may seem Greek to most but it was well explained by the host. He also recommended some, which turned out to be good choices. The food is great. Prices are on the higher side for the servings, but the experience was fantastic. Also, after filling your tummies, take a walk down the sea phase and enjoy Gateway of India.

An exquisite assortment of Japanese cuisine. Their choice of menu and execution of the food is impeccable. Pa Pa Ya accounted for a great night for me and my folks. A must-visit for their signature Japanese dishes, peaceful ambience and stellar service!

Good ambiance. Variety of Asian food is nice and authentic. Soups are the best. Over all 10 out of 10 for food presentation. Very close by from Gate way of India, so you should try this out on your next visit.

The experience was excellent. Great service and good food selection. Being away from SEA for a few days and haven’t eaten any ASEAN dish, this is the closest thing I’ve had since arriving in Mumbai. Resto ambience is commendable. Food flavors were rich - I’d say it seemed like I wasn’t in India. Pa Pa Ya offers great food for a pricey bill but it was worth it.

Pa Pa Ya was on our list for quite some time. The ratings are definitely justified. Pa Pa Ya is excellent if you love Pan Asian food. The ambiance is subtle yet classy. They welcome you with watermelon served in a shell which is quite soothing. They serve excellent quality Asian food, the Sushi is a must try. Everything right from the food to the service was excellent in spite of the place being packed on a Saturday Night. Pa Pa Ya has become one of our many favourites in this city and we’d love to visit again!

Food - 10/10 Ambiance - 9/10 Service - 10/10 VFM - 9/10 Whats stands out - The authentic dishes Came here with my wife on a weeknight for a casual dinner. The place was fairly full. The place is pretty large and very well made. The ambiance is warm and lighting is slightly dim giving a very cozy vibe. Tables are pretty large with very comfortable seating. The service is pretty amazing too. The servers know their dishes very well and was more than happy to explain dishes and suggest. The food was quick to come too with kick-ass presentation. We loved the modern sushi section the most. Along with all the regular sushis, they serve some innovative sushis. The Laksa soup was outstanding too. A must order in my opinion. We called for the following dishes 1. Asparagus, corn and burnt spring onions dimsum - 9/10 2. Crispy vegetable Maki with dehydrated spinach - 10/10 3. Laksa Soup - 10/10 4. Asian margarita pizzette - 9/10 5. Shitake and Burrata croquetas - 8/10 6. Vanilla Pannacotta - 9/10 7. Watermelon mocktail - 8/10 All in all this is a solid place perfect for celebrations. Dont miss it.

Excellent food and every morsel we ate had a burst of flavours. The Singapore Laksa was so flavourful and portion was just right to not leave us too full after the 'soup'. The lamb rendang curry was unbelievably delicious and so excellently cooked. The sauce was delicious and the meat on the bone melted in the mouth. Will definitely be going back and strongly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to try it.

Awesomeness, that sums up the place, Pa Pa Ya, Colaba. Great ambience. Music; not too soft, not too loud. Food was great, ordered veg Sushi Avocado and Mango, for the starters, then went on for a vegetarian tofu with exotic veges along with rice. Heavenly. Taste was just right. Special mention of Riteish, the waiter who was ever helpful in helping decide the food.

Outstanding food & service. I guess best oriental food in Mumbai
Dheeraj Mulchandani
They have an excellent menu selection and seem eager to offer you timely suggestions. The quantity we just right and the food tasted just as good as you would expect. We were a little disappointed with the yellow tail and raw mango sushi but the California maki was excellent. The lamb was cooked beyond perfection and just melted in our mouths! The dessert was very good too! I'm still a bit unsure about the decor and the comfort level of the high bar stools though!

Not worth the price at all. Not happy with the flavours and the portions, the desserts were horrible. Though the staff was nice and hospitable but the food was served very slowly
Oh man if you wanna try something new like Japanese sushi or thai style noodles, this place is for you. Tried these both dishes and the best part was that we tried eating noodles and sushi both with chopsticks which was fun. The staff was very patient and super helpful and helped us with this chopsticks thing as we were new to it. Bit expensive place but once try as it's very unique in its dishes. Weekday visit preferable as it is damn pecked on weekends.
Sadichha Pawar
Trendy place with loud music, some like it like that. But admittedly the food is good and varied, all Asia is there except India, although spices are added , a bit too much to our taste. The 1500 Rs "After Sunset" menu is generous and comprehensive, wine or cocktail included.
Service was quick as required, but a bit messy, some more thoroughness would be required.
Give it a try for a change if you want to be part of the wired crowd.

Major Throwback 🥰 || Dim Sim Festival @papaya_asian .
I really miss visiting such festivals where you get to try out new dishes .Dim sim is a Chinese-inspired meat and vegetable dumpling-style snack food, popular in Australia and to a lesser extent in New Zealand.I really enjoyed having dimsim at PaPaya😋
.
Are you also a dimsim fan ??
.
Follow @foodieeza👥
Follow @foodieeza👥
Follow @foodieeza👥
.
#Foodieeza #dimsim #chinese #chinesefood #chinesecuisine #delicious #insta #instadaily #instapost #instafood #instaeats #instaphoto #photoftheday #photodaily #photogenic #foodie #foodblog #blogger #foodblogger #foodies #foodblogeats #foodbloggersofindia #foodielife #foodiepic #foodiesoninstagram #feedfeed #foodiegram #foodism #foodinstalove #yummyfood

Wanted to try out sushi for the first time so decided to go visit pa pa ya along with my sister. Was delighted to see such wonderful service by such courteous staff. I told them very clearly that both of us have never been exposed to sushi before and we were feeling a bit adventurous, they took such good care of us. Even the tiny titbits of information lying around on the table and the beautifully made menu goes to show how much thought has been put into making our experience a comfortable one. Will be sure to visit again.

This place serves Chinese cuisine. Loved the interiors. The red and white theme of this restaurant quite stands out of the crowd 👍. The food was nice and moderately charged. I had visited this place during the weekends so it was too crowded.

The food was excellent and all were worth it.
We had ordered dimsums, Bombay ducks, sliced mutton, braised chicken and thai rice.
The quantity can be improved and increased since the portions were too small.
Overall dining experience was great and would love to come back here again and again. #amazingfood #yummy

Had the worst experience ever. This used to be my favourite restaurant. I would have visited pa pa ya more than 10 times and would have recommended the place to more than 20 people.

However, today I was asked to wait for more than 30 mins even when I had a reservation. Post that the staff gave me a table where the AC was leaking and water dripping on to the table.

While I was waiting for more than 30 mins, I was told that since it was women's day, my wife and sister would get complementary drinks. I shared the drinks with them. So, eventually the restaurant charged me. On asking the reason, the absolutely rude manager told me that it was women's day and not FATHERs day.

The staff was so rude and the experience was so poor. You have lost a very very loyal customer today. Unfortunately, I will not be returning to this restaurant again.

First time visit at papaya Colaba, absolutely loved the food and mocktails and the recommendations done by our table attendant Mr Sushil. Nice music and ambience. Lovely experience.Enjoyed a lot 😊👌😋😛

PAPAYA- one of the top of the line restaurant in the town. So..I visited the COLABA (THE TAJ MAHAL) & was extremely pleased with the overall dining experience.
The food was succulent & finger licking (I mean chopstick licking..😉). I am a seafood lover and my tongue & belly was satisfied with the Flavour, variety & quality of the dishes I was suggested.
truffle mushroom dumpling

Californian crab roll

Corn and spinach fried rice

the penang curry

the three layered panacota

I ordered for the above appetizers, main course and a dessert
Ambience is amazing with superb interior, an elegant bar counter, comfortable dining section, in-house washrooms.
The service was fast. Bartender nishant was quick in serving drinks, Servers Akshay & ramesh were very hospitable. Last but not the least, Manager Anush was extremely generous, took feedback and made us feel homely.
Reservation recommended. Palatable food. Refreshing cocktails. Good time. Even serves specialised Jain food as well.(they got special Jain menu)
#papaya #foodlover #cheers #colaba

Courteous staff, attentive and friendly. The food was good though the drinks quite forget able.

Went for the dimsum lunch. Place smelled musty until AC was put on full. Servers were just not cheerful or friendly and answered only to the point. The dim sums were simply not flavourful - the prawn & chive jiao and the prawns hargao were smelly. I had heard good reviews and was waiting to try the restaurant, but was a very disappointing experience unfortunately.

We were here for dinner being Saturday night the restaurant was busy .The staff was very calm and courteous with the smile on the face. The food and service both were just perfect

So we went for our date here.

We tried

Jiaozi chicken leg ( Dimsums) - 4/5
Crispy vegetable maki dehydrated - 4/5( I personally felt it was ok as I m not a fan of sushi but my husband loved it)
Yaki Udon noodles ( must try) - 5/5 with braised chicken

Overall a good food night

Overall review -4/5 ( though it does hurt it Pocket and the quantity of food is pretty less)

Pa pa ya was the first place we decided to try sushi, and if anyone's trying sushi for the first time, one should always head to pa pa ya. Though on the expensive side and the everlasting element of having an asian menu that is hard to read, the staff and the service was extremely supportive and if anyone doesn't know what they want, they shouldn't worry much because the staff will explain to you what you're ordering and what is the best dish to go for. We had the California Maki roll and Pakchoy Kimchi which is type of Dimsum.
In drinks we had the Classic Manhattan and Exotica Both the food dishes were excellent, rich in flavour, filling, and with completely new and unique taste of their own.

PAPAYA - the name itself sounded interesting when I scrolled past this new listing on Zomato. Headed out on a Friday night when I was in a mood to have modern Asian cuisine. I would like to recommend prior booking on weekends. On arrival, we were seated immediately. The service was prompt. There are a large number of options to choose from their new 68 dim sum menu and they also have a specialised Jain menu, which is pretty elaborate when compared to other restaurants in vicinity. We ordered:

Lakasa: The portion size is limited to one. It was light, seasoned with minimal spices, with fresh vegetables. The flavour of coconut came out beautifully in this one, making it a treat. +1 for the cute serving cutlery.

Smoked Avocado : Sushi with hand press rice mold with avocado on top. This one's a treat for avocado lovers who prefer sushi.

The crispy chilly rice: Well, the colour of the dish is what intrigued me the most. Very mild in flavour, the flavour of veggies with basil flavoured in it was a win. However, this dish must be paired with a curry and won't recommend it on a standalone basis.

The penang curry: With a mild sweetish taste, this curry was the hero of this meal. Freshly made tofu with other exotic vegetables in a coconut milk based gravy. The spices were just perfect.

Special mention to the hospitality of Ramesh and team, who made sure we were given details of each dish perfectly and enjoyed the taste.
Recommended for all sushi and dim sum lovers

For friday dinner we planned to visit Pa Pa Ya. Talking about the Location of the restaurant is placed near the grand TAJ MAHAL hotel, its a good place. We entered the restaurant requested the staff to give us sofa sitting, very humble and welcoming staff.

Talking about food:
Welcoming shot was presented, with Chinese taste and a piece of water melon, we liked it the way it was presented.
Ordered for vegetarian meal:
Sushi: crispy vegetable maki, dehydrated spinach
Tapas: Crispy Lotus Stem
Main course: Phad Noodles

Quantity, quality, taste of the food was delicious. We loved and enjoyed our meal.
Most importantly, the sever helped me selecting me options and suggested me by good choice.
I would definitely visit next time again.

Good food but indifferent service. Our glasses were not refilled. We were not asked if we needed anything. We had specifically asked for food with as little spice as possible, but food was served garnished with chilli's on top! Drink was ordered but never served. Will try it again for the food and will hope for better service.
Gargi Sandu
We went for the 5 course set menu and it has been one of the best meals we've had in a really long time! Since we were 5 of us we could try everything on their menu. The staff was really courteous and helped us pick the best dishes according to our food preferences. The menu is very carefully curated with equal options for vegetarians as well as meat eaters. The menu is also paired with a glass of wine/ cocktail as per your choice.
Definitely going to be going back for more soooon☺️

Pssst: the desserts and Avacado tacos are the best part! Don't forget to try them out for sure.

Horrible staff service ever food also not that great

Food is good. But the service was just terrible. Staff doesn’t care. Palladium one is much better.

I had heard such good things about Papaya, however, I was really disappointed. The service was slow despite an almost empty restaurant because we got there quite late. The food itself was served luke warm and the flaming chocolate dessert had so much alcohol, it was all that you could taste.
Ashutosh Yash
We were served by Ramesh there. Excellent service with sumptuous food. His recommendations made our experience better.
Unnati Shaurya
Delicious food served with equally friendly and courteous staff.

The main course (braised water chestnut) was bland and not as per expectations. It tasted like corn soup.
MAYUR
Valet parking took away our parking tensions. We were welcomed with a smile. Since We were a bit cold ,the staff placed us in a cosy nook with AC switched off to make us feel comfy. Thanx a ton. Appreciated.
Ambience great, bar well stocked, bartender skilled , could see him at it , frosting glasses and churning out drinks of various hues one after the other . The dimsums and Baos in a wide variety were great and appetising, and so was the cilly chicken shwarma. Piece d'resistance were the desserts . Vanilla panacotta and aerated chocolate ( with JD in its soul) took the cake in presentation and taste both. Awesome work guys. We will visit again. Thanx for a great fine dining evening.

Pa Pa Ya is well known place in Colaba. Loved the food we ordered dimsums they have many varieties and loved most of them. Staff is courteous and service is quick. Ambience is nice and crowd is great.
Trupti Limbad
Perfect place for Chinese lovers and heaven for those who are mad for sushis.
This place has a variety of sushi's 🍣 , and drooling dim sums. The mocktails are well befitted with the dishes making them a perfect combination.
I would rate this place 5/5 for perfect ambience, great hospitality and amazing food
Nagdabharat
Good food but very lacking in service & ambiance given the price. I did not find it to be good value for money. (3k for 2 drinks + food for 2)

The food was great and we enjoyed all the dishes we ordered, but the challenge was with the service and how the place feels.

When we arrived, there was no valet to be found for 5+ minutes. Went to the front door and no one to be found there either. Finally had to go into find someone who would then find a valet for me. Went back to the front door and no one to be found. Went in again and found someone to get us seated. The staff struggled to communicate in basic English, while demeaning anyone not sure if this is worth my $$$s.

The ambiance is very dingy and seems more like eating at Gokul than at a fine dine restaurant.

Lastly, I used a Dineout Gourmet Passport 1 + 1 offer and instead of giving me 1 + 1 they insisted only on knocking off the cheapest item on the bill. While the impact to the final bill was only 200-odd bucks, this is a fraudulent behavior.

I will not be here again
Vaishnavi Sonar
The Waiter suggested to opt for a set menu for a Thursday lunch.
There are two options either an Oriental one and a coconut based one. The sushis are the same in both the menus.
The set menu comes in a box where everything is served together. I did not expect that.
The noodle soup was average. The som tam salad was good.
The sushi was amazing!
The dimsums were cold.
The Oriental box had a spicy note and the coconut box had a creamy note.
The entire experience was very average.

Food-3/5
Ambience-3.5/5
Service-.3.5/5
Value for money-3/5

The place has to definitely be my new favourite..I have recently discovered my love for Asian food and the entire credit for that goes to this place, already been here thrice since the first time I was left surprised. The dumplings, sushis and desserts are all a must try here. The staff is really humble and helpful in selecting what you'd like to eat or just walking you through the menu. 10/10 would recommend.
Sarath Nair K
The best of the staff.Served by prakash who could sing the menu details. It was second nextto meeting the chef.

A great fine dining experience. I relished every bit of the food. My friend and I ordered Tapas (Beer Battered Avocado Tacos, Corn and Scallion Kimchi), Sushi (Avocado Mango), Noodles and Mushroom gravy for the main course, and Liquid Hazelnut Fondant Cake for dessert. Every dish was uniquely curated and provided a great pleasure to our taste buds. I could relish very different flavours. Specially , the sushi had a unique avocado, mango, ginger and wasabi flavour that just melted in my mouth. The ambience was pretty decent. I loved the mini bar section. The staffs were polite and humble too. They were prompt with suggestions. I would love to visit again.

The real tenderiser.

Went to Pa Pa Ya for dinner yesterday with friends.Though I had been to the restaurant a couple of times earlier, on this occasion we were treated to a gastronomic delight that took food to stratospheric realms. And the restaurant lived upto it's name and reputation making the meal, a sublime experience, no doubt aided by the pleasure of good company, easygoing conversation and the feelgood feeling of friends catching up after years.
We started with crispy lotus stem which was so delectable that we were left literally licking our fingers and had to call for an encore. We followed it up with two vegetable Sushi, an anachronism. But they were so delicious, especially the crispy vegetable maki with dehydrated spinach that it matched up to the real thing. We then went on to the crystal dimsum of leeks and water chestnuts again amazingly flavorful with the accompaniments so flavorful that you could literally have the dips by themselves. Onto the main course with the sizzling fried rice and the mapo tofu assembled at the table itself. I have had many Chinese meals, but this was the most delicious fried rice I have ever had without exception, no doubt aided by a secret ingredient that gave it a unique crunchiness. We were going to skip dessert as most of us were diabetic, but my friend insisted that we have the Chocolate ball on fire. It was a decadent indulgence and a fitting finale to the meal. Hot chocolate sauce was poured on a chocolate orb, with it falling apart to reveal the ice-cream and crunchy nuts within. The flavours matched the visual feast and we were literally scraping of every remnant from the plate.
The modern and relaxed ambience complemented the meal, but the music was a bit too loud at times. My friend had the shao mai chicken dimsum and the wok fried chicken which he said was delicious and flavorful. All in all a lovely meal that took us to a whole new dimension. Aided no doubt by the impeccable service whose suggestions were on point and enhanced the experience.

Literally the best sushi ever. I screwed my diet but who cares if it's really the best sushi in town. Not really into vegetarian stuff but their sea weed salad is also amazing.
Anish Bhargava
We ordered for a soup and requested for a 1/2. The server refused to serve 1/2. Havent seen any other restaurants refusing 1/2 portions.

One of the persons took our order for the main course. After 20 mins, the person serving us comes up to take the order for the main course. When we told him that we have already placed it, he went on to check for the order. Now it was over 45 mins but we werent served our main course yet. When we called on the person who had taken our order, he lied to the face that he took the order 15 mins ago.

When we received the food, it wasnt even what we had ordered. Basically the person who took the order didnt remember the order and hence didnt even punch it.

When we said we would like to speak to the manager, they were not even prepared to let us speak to him. Finally we got through to the manager but he too was of no help.

We had gone there for a birthday celebration but the restaurant made all attempts to ruin our evening.

Loved the food but kinda disappointed by the menu cause the maki rolls that y’all have mentioned are not actually maki rolls those are called uramaki rolls! That was a little confusing while ordering.
DO NOT COME HERE EVER!

We had high expectations from Papaya, having been here before I thought it was good and came here for my fathers birthday. However our experience was terrible. The manager was totally unattentive. The service was terrible. The staff or manager did not know details about the dishes. The manager would say “whatever you want” when asked what do you recommend. We had to ask for everything atleast twice or thrice before we got it, be it an extra folk or even a glass. We had to ask for our drinks also atleast 3-5 times. We placed the main course order at 9 45 and after half an hour later the waiter comes and says do you want to place your main course order. When we asked the manager he showed us the slip and he said the order is punched at 10 30 and he did not stop arguing with us. We even asked to speak to the main manager was wasn’t present, even on the call he seemed least bothered. The service is terrible they did not even accept that they are making a mistake. He just keeps arguing and is super rude.

Please do not go to this place. Your meal is definitely going to be ruined
Alona Kardash
The service wasn't good enough. The food prep time was too long. Two of the dishes were completely different from what it's written in the menu (seaweed salad and Dragon salmon roll).

Had a wonderful dinner at PaPaYa Colaba. The staff was very helpful and gave some great suggestions to suit our palate. Loved the Bao and the maki roll. Not a great fan of sushi but this one was very very delicious . Had the lotus stem starter which was perfect too. We also had the asparagus and corn dimsum which would have been even better if it was steaming hot.
Mains were udon noodles and wok tossed vegetables.

All in all great food and extremely courteous staff( thumbs up to Akshay)

Only flipside of the place is their restroom! The layout sucks!

Finally visited this place after many recommendations.
The sushi they serve is to die for.
We had a spiced avocado sushi and it was too good.
Corn dumplings can be missed.
Lotus stems is one of their signature dishes but it seemed a little too sweet for my test.
Pad Thai was not so great experience for me since i have issues with peanuts.

Food-4/5
Ambience-4/5
Service-4/5
Value for money-4/5

Had a wonderful experience at Pa Pa Ya today. In addition to the delicious food- an assortment of dim sums, sushi and then noodles for main course, our meal was made even better by Rushabh- our server. His suggestions were divine and the service, outstanding! Will definitely be coming back!

Food was amzing and staff were very helpful. They brought the food fast and helped us choose the right dish for us

Excellent food with prompt service.
Off the menu "Dragon Sushi" was quite the dish. Must try if you go there.
One cannot not order the Chocolate Ball! This dessert is a treat to watch. The theatre will make a 60 year old get as excited as a 6 year old.

It's always a good time at Pa Pa Ya.
A special shoutout to Ramesh who was waiting our table, and he did an efficient job ensuring smooth service at an 11 person table.

Loved the ambience and food. The hazelnut fondant cake was really great! Amazing service given by Prakash.

The Hungry Chashmish
This place has been on our list since quite some time now. We had heard a lot about their tons of options in Sushis and Dimsums.

Pizza Sushi: At the outset, we were sceptical of ordering this dish as its name included two cuisines which taste great when tried in isolation. However, this dish was nothing less than a mind-blowing experience. We liked it so much so that we ordered another portion of it.

Mochi 2.0: The most famous mochi ice-cream with multiple flavoured rice coverings. The ice-cream in itself was great but we personally did not like the coating.
Chocolate Ball on Fire: Not being completely satisfied with the previous dish, we decided to order this dessert & it was a delicious end to our meal!

Chili Tofu Wrap: A true delight; Sweet, and spicy, a perfect combo for a wrap with a perfect amount of filling.

Asparagus, Corn and Burnt Spring Onion Dimsums: Our second favourite dish at this restaurant. A must-try.

Main Course: We ordered burnt garlic rice and gravy. The rice was good and the gravy was average. Have to try a lot many more options on their menu to comment on this section as with our past experience, usually, only the starters are tasty/delicious and the main course is not up to the mark.To conclude, it was a lovely experience but we must warn you that this place is on the expensive side because you end up having to order multiple dishes to actually feel full or maybe it coule be that we like to hog a lot!
Let's Hog Some Food
Papaya is one of my fav pan asian place. Their food and cocktails are amazing like always. I visited here for having dimsums only. They have almost 12 varities of dimsums with almost 68 varities of dimsums. We had many dimsums here. Started off with crystal dimsum which is potato and wheat starch dumplings and was thin and amazing. Shao mai is an open faced dimsum. Lo mai gai became my personal favourite. The rice and vegetables were wrapped in lotus leaf for the lotus leaf flavor and it was amazing. Even their truffle and mushroom baos was something loved. Veg Wontons were thin, soft and spicy with black vinegar and chillies spread all over. The pan fried Aubergine Jiaozi was the best out of all. Also had the Xiao Long Bao which is a soupy dimsum which was too too soft and nice. Had Glutinous rice dimsum basically instead of normal coating, rice was the coating for this dimsum and if was nice. The one which i loved was Chueng fun which was rice paper roll dimsum, too soft and amazing. All their dimsums looked, tasted nice and were mouth melting. Lastly i had their Matcha lava cake, it was nice.

Visited the Colaba outlet for the first time last night and safe to say the experience was waaaay below PaPaYa standards.

I'm a huge fan of your food and frequent your BKC and Palladium outlets, so when we had to take my guests out for dinner PaPaYa was a no-brainer.

Unfortunately our experience was less than overwhelming. While there was nothing wrong as such with the food, it wasn't PaPaYa level. The ribs, the rendang curry, the sushi, etc was just about ok.

I couldn't be more disappointed that you'll couldn't maintain consistency across outlets.

Going to take a deep breath before I start on this one.

The service was horrible to begin with, took our server Rishabh all of 10 minutes to get us a menu, another 15 to actually come take an order in spite of calling someone over and over.
We were served an amuse-bouche which sat on our table till the food actually arrived and it wasn’t even particularly a busy afternoon.

The restaurant boasts of its new dimsum menu which well, honestly... the dim-sum platter was served to us on a plate - COLD. ON A PLATE! 🤦‍♀️
The meats were tough on the inside. Tasted old.
No sauces were served along side. The crispy cheung fung looked and tasted like a spring roll!

Secondly, no cutlery was given to us. Third, the ice tea that I ordered - no ice! *slow clap*

Anyway, spoke to manager (Swapnil? I think), left the meal halfway. Like literally could not imagine another minute at the place.

Neither Rishabh or Swapnil seemed capable of dealing with the matter professionally.

All in all, terrible service, staff and food - for the record this was my second time at the place, can’t say the first time was great but the second was definitely the last.

Asian cuisine at its best!

Super sushi, biggest dim sum menu, tasty vegetarian dishes, the best lotus stem starter I have ever had in Mumbai. Chocolate ball on fire was mind blowing.

Let downs were the miso soup and mochi ice cream, beer battered tacos were average.

Nice Ambience and very helpful staff. A must visit for Asian cuisine lovers.

Friday dinner date. Walked in for early dinner without any reservation. We were greated with a warm welcome and served by very enthusiastic and attentive staff. Food was well prepared and delicious. Mr Ramesh (our wait staff) took great care of us and even helped with suggestions for placing our order. The salmon and cream cheese dragon sushi and spicy tuna sushi is worth mentioning. The classic miso soup was simple, warm and delicious. Also tried the asparagus- corn and chicken - water chestnut dimsums. Finished off the meal with mochi ice cream. Forgot to mention the raw papaya salad which is my absolute favorite

Thoroughly enjoyed the exotic Asian palate the restaurant provides. Little bit expensive but the taste is worth every penny. The staff are really nice and take customer service very seriously. The ambience is really nice with ample lighting, amazing music and unique interiors. I suggest every Asian cuisine lover to try the food once.

Even though they have 68+ varieties in dimsums, each one tastes different from the other!

In a nutshell, PA PA PA is not just redefining Asian cuisine, it’s Asian Cuisine – Revolutionised
@SassyMumbaiGirl
Really loved the place. We were welcomed very warm. The sad part was right after we were welcomed for about 10 mins we had hardly anyone who attended us. We had to wait for someone to take out order. After a good wait. When I was almost at the verge of getting irritated. We finally had someone. We happily placed our order. And voila I loved the sushi. All sadness covered. Second disappointment was we asked for water and it took them nearly 15-20 mins to get us water. But food had been amazing. We started with a nice miso chicken soup. Awesome!
I loved both the sushi rolls. We called for a spicy tuna then the salmon and a yellow tail raw mango. Plus dimsums with prawn. I don't recall the name. This was my third disappointment when it took them almost to 30mins for it. And we literally had to chill around and ask them how much longer. Later to that we had a nice sizzling fried rice. It came with puff rice and gravy. Good for a one portion size.

Apart from my minor disappointments on service. I had a really good experience with the food. They definitely nearly missed from spoiling my anniversary by making up with the food. Haha.

I loved it.

Pa Pa Ya at Colaba, Nuff said!

Pa Pa ya has been a dominant and a favorite for Asian food. It is so soft and juicy .

Wonton : I love these.

Jiaozi- pan seared dumplings 🥟 : Again all are so delicious and every texture is so right and flavours are such bang on.

Xia Long Bao
Soupy dimsums : I love soupy dimsums as that flavour is so delicious.

Glutinous rice
Rice coated dumplings steamed in stock

Cheung Fun
Rice paper rolls served with seasoned soy sauce : I love these again. They are spicy yet so delicious.

Lao Mai Gai
Steamed lotus leaf parcels : I am a less fan of this.

Mains
Green curry vegetables
Haricot beans, pickled daikon
Yaki udon noodles
This is so yum if you love coconut. The noodles are smooth and just right

Chocolate ball :
We had the classic chocolate ball and it’s decadent in itself.

Overall, a great time must say!

It is a modern Pan Asian Bistro bar where one can relish on the dishes across the Asian continent. Their strength in showcasing the display of food with the help of molecular gastronomy makes it a place where one can have an unforgettable Pan-Asian dining experience. Their aim to provide a holistic dining experience can be seen from it Menu which not only has delicious tapas and dishes across the continent, but also has a range of drinks through its signature beverage section.

Our Experience:
We wanted to experience the culinary experience at PaPaYa from a very long time so we visited this outlet of PaPaYa which is located near Apollo Bunder in Colaba. We were also excited as they had come up with a spread of dimsum consisting of more than 68 different types across their outlets.

This elegant looking restaurant had two level of seating arrangement with pleasant atmosphere and dim lightings. We were greeted by the staff and Mr. Austrin was really helpful in guiding us. He managed to make our experience a memorable one by presenting the Menu exclusive for Jain foodies. So PaPaYa will not disappoint the vegetarians and Jains too.

We were super excited for the dimsums and we ordered almost whole variety of veg dimsums. Here are the details of the food that we had...

1. Truffle & Mushroom Bao:
This is the best dish we had here. If you love mushrooms you can't afford to miss it. Its a freshly prepared bao filled with mushrooms and glazed with truffle sauce. It is served with mustard sauce. Highly Recommended..!!

2. Cheung Fun:
This are rolls of rice sheets stuffed with veggies served in a pool of soy sauce which kick offs the flavour of the rolls and garnished with chopped crispy vegetables on the top. It was good to taste.

3. Jiaozi:
These are pan seared dumplings stuffed with veggies and garnished with asparagus and caviar made from brown sugar and jaggery with help of molecular technology. They tasted delicious. Recommended..!!

4. Xia Long Bao (Soupy Dimsum):
These are dimsum served in a small bowls. The are stuffed with chopped veggies like carrots, zucchini, cabbage etc and had gelatine in it which on steaming comes out and gives a soupy look.

5. Crystal :
These are potato and wheat starch dumplings stuffed with asparagus and corn. It was good to taste.

6. Lao Mai Gai:
This is a steamed lotus leaf parcel which consists of sticky rice with a gravy of assorted veggies. It was spicy and delicious to taste. It tastes best when consumed as soon as it arrives on your table. Highly Recommended..!!

7. Wonton:
These dumplings are stuffed with assorted veggies and are served with chilli and black vinegar. It was good to taste.

8. Glutinous Rice:
These dumplings are rice coated dumplings stuffed with assorted veggies and steamed in its own broth. These dumplings are unique and also delicious to taste.

9. Chilly Tofu Roll: (Jain)
This is a shawarma filled with crispy Tofu glaced with a sweet and spicy sauce, greens and sriracha mayo and soya chips. It was healthy as well as tasty.

10. Sushi-
Visiting a Pan Asian restaurant and not ordering a sushi is a sin so we ordered Spicy Avocado Roll and Kappa Maki Roll. Both the sushi were very delicious. The spicy avocado roll is really spicy which is loved by people loving hot flavours. Also available in Jain.

10. Sizzling Fried Rice:
This is a Puffed Rice served with hot gravy made from soy sauce and veggies. It is supposed to be had by adding little gravy to the puffed rice so as to avoid getting the puffed size soggy. It is a unique dish and is a good option for a main course when you want to eat light food. Recommended.

Dessert:

Mochi Ice Cream Version 2.0:
This is a Japanese style of ice cream which has a layer on outer side and served on the mud of biscuits. There were 4 flavours, Basil Mango, Strawberry Banana, Salted Caramel, Truffle. We loved the salted caramel flavour and basil mango flavours alot.

Was CRAVING their sushi so decided to show up here on a rainy day, that’s how much I love them!
So anyway I had their usual crispy spinach modern sushi and the pizza sushi. Of course both were wonderful. I recommend trying both of them. These 2 are the most flavourful and light sushis ever!
Staff was great, wonderful and polite!

Loved the avocado sushi and the vegetable dimsums both. Even the main course didn't disappoint. The cocktails weren't as great though and had to stick to wine .
