Review The White Owl - Mumbai

Anish Deshmukh
White owl brewery & Bistro ❖ My Recommendations- • Spark (Beer) • Paulina (Beer) • Fish n chips (starter) • Jerk Chicken (Starter) • Pepper Crusted Rawas (Entree) • Baked Cheesecake (Dessert) ❖ Location- One India bulls tower of elphiston, though the building sounds really popular but this restaurant is not easy to find in the huge building. It’s a task to come to this place once you are in the building. (3.5/5) ❖ Theme- Serving fresh craft beers which are brewed at their restaurant with the imported ingredients which they import. (4.5/5) ❖ Ambience- Restaurant size is kind of medium, not very big neither very small. Got nice cycles, wheels of cycles, plug buttons, bird cages hanging on the walls of restaurant. Bar area is setup simple yet nice. At the back of bar you can see their brewery where they brew the beers. Seating has few couches and remaining got chairs. Honestly chairs weren’t really comfortable. Lighting was not really appealing I felt, very dim lights (they dim it more after 8 pm) although the place is not really a pub kind. Would have loved bit more lights while grabbing the beer. Being a Monday evening of a corporate building, it wasn’t really busy. (3.5/5) ❖ Food and Beverage- Monday evenings should be like this isn’t it? With a freshly crafted beer in one hand and delicious continental food in the other. As I said interiors disappointed me, but food and their beers didn’t. They are into making an in-house beers and selling it in their restaurants and other 5* hotels too. Raw material is imported from respective countries and then entire process of making a beer takes place here at the restaurant. (4.5/5) • Beers- Freshly brewed beer glass, ohh yes why not. Anin-house brewery serving 6-7 homemade beers is rare;normally they have more options Beers. Artificial flavours, preservations are not used in these beers. You can taste their taster and then finalise your flavour. You can enjoy their beers in 3 different options, 330 ml, 550ml and 5000 Ml which is a tower you can enjoy with your group. We tried 6 beers out of 7(1 was not available). After trying 6 beers I can say two of them were my types and can repeat them again and again. 1) SPARK- A Belgium based beer with citrus hints in it looked v transparent and light. A perfect my type of beer, light and refreshing. Can say beer of the evening.(5/5) 2) DIABLO- Irish red ale, roast caramel flavour and had good body in it.(3.5/5) 3) HALCYON- German defeweizen, a fruity (banana) hinted beer with touch of clove (which was missing). Couldn’t taste much of banana to be honest, but was fruity enough.(4/5) 4) ACE- A French apple cider giving a perfect example of a champagne taste and apple aroma. Worth a try for sure.(4/5) 5) PAULINA- Yes a German girl??? No no, a Germankolsch giving a hint of pear and apple with fruity aroma and light body. A must have beer of them I felt. Strongly recommend.(5/5) 6) SHADOW- Dark and handsome I can say, an English porter with dark body, little flavour of chocolate androasty aroma. Good for the dark beer lovers.(4/5) ❖ To sum up- Beer lovers must visit this place and that too if you are in the nearby area. Beers tasted nice and really refreshing especially after hard working day. Would love to visit again and try few more of their beers, not to forget the last beer (Torpedo) which was not available. Really loved the logo of the restaurant. Beer lovers must try place, I am sure your craving for crafted beers will be satisfied at white Owl Brewery & Bistro.

Craft beer is all about enjoying beer as a form of art. The texture, perception, flavours, aroma, the feel and much more makes for an entire experience. It is not just about what goes into the making, it is equally about presentation, flavours and the food that you pair it with. With the concept of craft beer, many brands responsible for bringing this experience to the table have been increasing day by day. One such prominent name in these fancy brands is the White Owl Brewery. Starting with their logo, it is class apart. On a personal level, they have nailed it as far as the presentation goes. The name and the logo completely go hand-in-hand and there is a total sync which works as an enhancing factor in their overall feel. The white owl menu includes a total of 8 different flavours of craft beer. Their list of beer includes Irish ales, German hefeweizens, English beer, Ace, Paulina, Elf, Shadow, Belgian Wits, American flavours infused, as well as the French ciders. We tried their Ace and Spark. The Ace was a French apple cider. It had a prominent apple flavour and a citrus tangy touch. Subtle yet flavourful, it was pretty decent. Our favourite one, was the Spark. It was a Belgian Wit. This one balanced all the flavours which were possibly there. The citrus taste with the tangy touch and a moderate light body as well as tinge of bitterness were well in place. What added glamor to the beer were their jar type glasses instead of the typical ones. To accompany this spread of beer, we even had a huge variety of dishes. We started off with the small bites and tried their popcorns which were the best choice to go with the beer. The Parmesan popcorn was cheesy and loaded with the same. Heavy and gooey, they were a real good treat. The Firecracker popcorn was hot and spicy. The Chaat style popcorn was created with popcorns as chaat. Spiced with onions, sev puri and chaat masala, they resembled the street side sev puris strongly. After this, we tried their onion and mushroom bruschetta. Now this one had finely chopped onions and mushrooms on top of these thin crust roasted breads. Munching upon these, the flavours were on point. Next, we had the vada pav poppers. Mini spicy vadas stuffed with cheese and loaded with garlic chutney and the spicy green chutney. The spice was perfect and the small bites were perfect to try. Next were the jalapeno poppers. Deep fried jalapenos stuffed with cheddar and a base of potatoes. The side of garlic aioli was delicious. After this, we moved onto their techa fries. They were spicy and delicious. Loaded with herb mayo and chilli pepper sauce, these had a spicy and cheesy taste as well. Next was the corn on the cob. Unlike the usual one, this one was rubbed with potatoes and flavoured with masalas. This had a tangy touch too. The corn potato croquettes were long, cheesy and had a perfect balance of both. Served with romesco sauce, they make for great finger food. For the mains, we tried their sundried tomato and asparagus risotto and house mac n cheese. Served with mascarpone cheese and parmesan garlic crumble, the risotto was soulful. It had a smooth texture and was quite filling. We loved this. The House Mac and Cheese was gorgeous and soulful. The quantity was huge and loaded with red chilli. To add a certain amount of crunch, it had bread crumbles too. For the dessert, we had the dark chocolate fondant. This was huge and mind-blowing. Stuffed with warm gooey chocolate, this was heavenly. We loved this one. The overall experience was amazing. The drinks, beer, food, desserts, ambience, service, everything was on point. This place indeed has a delightful vibe and is sure to impress the foodie in you! Ambience: 4.5/5 Taste Quotient: 5/5 Service: 4/5

In-house brewing towers in a Resto was enough to excite us visit this place and have some leisure time . The house Craft Beer with not one or two but Seven different Variants is the USP of this place . So if you are fond of beer and are tired of having those draught beers then this is definitely the place you shall head towards with your buddies to chill out . The place has a pretty cool ambience where one may see the usage of all unused articles in a smart way . The first thing that comes to your table is this collection of Seven Different Craft Beers for tasting so that you may choose the best one which suits your palate. We loved the following two variants the most . 1. Ace : which has a superb champagne flavour. 2 . Spark: citrus flavour of this one was awesome. We also loved the following food . Jalapeno Cheese Poppers. Roasted Mushroom with Caramelised onion bruchetta. Chaat popcorn . Lastly a thumbs up for Beer Popsicle . Thank you for reading my review have a great time.

One of the top Breweries in Bombay, in competition with Doolally, and Brewbot. Diablo and shadow are really worth trying. Other beers are specifically for those who have a taste for them. Though I feel they dilute their beers a lot after the brewing process. Not for the average alcoholic. Avoid chicken nugget sauté. Being in a corporate premises, the scene is pretty mild on the weekdays. Don't go in your casuals here. Ask for any-4 tasters if you're new to this place.

Really enjoyed our visit to The White Owl Brewery. We loved the industrial-chic decor and the cute jars in which the beers are served. The space has a fun, buzzy feel and a laid-back vibe, a perfect complement to the food and beverage served. We enjoyed the menu - we're pretty healthy eaters, so we were glad to see a number of lighter options available, along with the snacks and items that typically pair well with beer. I'm not a huge beer drinker, but I really liked the varietals they serve - the Brewery has 8 beers on tap and they range from heavy to totally light - there is bound to be something for everyone, be they beer drinkers or not.

A lovely place with a distinct vibe to it. Perfect for an after work dinner/drinks evening. Thankfully not overcrowded. Corporate crowd around, by virtue of the area it is in. But it's nice as a mature drinking crowd. The service is friendly and quick. Food isn't exceptional, but it doesn't spoil the drinking experience. Overall, I will definitely consider going again after a day of hard work seeking a nice mellow musical drink.

I was in Bangalore from the past 10 months and the brewery scene is big over there. Mumbai hasn't caught up with the quality of the bangalore brews, and this might remain the case for sometime. The one brewery that does come close to the quality displayed by the Bangalore counterparts is The White Owl. Getting to the place can be quite a pain, but once you're in, you'll immediately feel the hype. The ambience is superb and tries to create a fusion feel of retro plus new age.The dim lights coupled with the classy look of the bar give the place an old school feel. The beers on their menu are quite distinct from each other. Each of them has a very subtle character, which is honestly a turn off for someone who likes his beer strong and flavorsome. The brewery is hyped throughout the bombay crowd, but honestly, i failed to see the hype. Even so, the quality of the beer is superb, and even though i was disappointed by the subtle nature of the beers, i loved the taste overall. The real star of the show is the food. We have the tenderloin stake, lamb stew and the hero of the day - the chicken puff pie. All of the dishes were delectable, and left us happy and satisfied. Same goes for the desserts,. All in all, a very highly recommended place for food lovers and beer enthusiasts alike. Just don't go in with monumental expectations from the beers, and you'll love them

An amazing place for beer lovers. Brewery one of its kind and beers nothing like others. Not just their tapped beers, but the food along with the beer is to die for. A very comforting hospitality provided by their staff during my meal. Food-5/5 Ambiance-4/5 Service-5/5 Value for money-5/5

Staying one step ahead of the competition in the hypercompetitive restaurant industry requires more than simply tinkering with the menu. Just serving good food doesn't do much good if the customers don't stay there very long - or never even walk through the door in the first place. Setting the right mood, or ambiance, plays an important role in customer satisfaction as well as customer retention. The White Owl - Brewery & Bistro doesn't fail to give you one of the finest experiences and does make you feel special. Located inside India Bulls tower, it's tricky finding this place. But once you find it, trust me you are going to enter into a different world altogether with amazing beer all around (if you are a beer - person). Almost every pub or brewery in the city has rustic wooden interiors to remind you of an old English tavern, this one has a black theme with dim and soothing yellow lights with mirrored corner walls, which is a brilliant idea so as to create an illusion of infinite space, though this restaurant has a seating which is already quite spacious. And not to mention that their USP is their own brewed beer ! I absolutely loved the fact that they gave taster trays (which is not chargeable) of different types of beer to their customers. ◆ what I had - ● Mocktails : ~ Mel's cup (recommended) - watermelon and musk melon based. The watermelon and musk melon both were fresh. Loved how the overall combination tasted. Both the fruits complemented each other perfectly and blended with the palate well. ~ House ginger lemonade - It was refreshing. Had the right amount of ginger and lemon. Tangy and perfectly citrusy. ● Coffee : ~ Cafe Latte - Just like the conventional latte. No complaints ! ● Starters : ~ House Techa Fries (recommended) - Perfectly crispy and one of their best starters served with 3 different types of dips. One was mayonnaise based, second one was jalapeño-ish cheese dip and the third was chilli sauce based. ~ Jalapeño and cheese poppers (recommended) - It had emmental, cheddar and mozzarella cheese served with garlic aioli. A nice dish, presented really well. ~ Corn and Potato croquettes - It consisted of chopped jalapeño bits and cheddar cheese served with Romesco (nut and red pepper based) sauce. The sauce was really tasty and had a unique flavour. Loved how it gave that punch of flavor to the already delicious croquettes. ~ Chef's gourmet popcorn - It had parmesan cheese, chives and black pepper. Really appreciate the twist that the chef brought to this popcorn recipe. However, with time they become chewy and soft which is a disappointment and hence I'd recommend to have this dish as quickly as possible. ● Salad : ~ Citrus and roasted Hazelnut - One of the few dressings I have neen able to enjoy without digestive issues is Balsamic vinegar. This salad is made using mixed greens, walnut bits with Balsamic reduction. The dressing is of not-so-traditional caper- tahini which together makes for a flavourful creamy salad. Caper-tahini is a slightly sweet, salty dressing that's perfect over warm grains. ● Entrée : ~ House Mac and cheese - Creamy penne pasta cooked to perfection using grana padano and gruyère cheese topped with red chilli served with perfectly toasted bread. ~ Mix Vegetable Enchiladas (recommended) - This was undeniably the star dish. Absolutely loved the sour cream and tomato salsa gravy and the use of sharp cheddar. ● Desserts : ~ White Chocolate Crème Brulee (recommended) topped with candied orange zest - It had a rich custard base topped with a contrasting layer of hard caramel that cracked beautifully. This was the star dessert ! ~ Craft Beer popsicle (recommended) with butter cookie crumbs - Absolutely fun to have. Loved it ! ~ House chocolate Flan - it consisted of espresso and dark chocolate sauce. This was a good dessert. ~ Dark Chocolate Fondant with vanilla icecream - Another great dessert. No complaints ! The overall experience that this restaurant gives you is worth relishing. Do visit it - recommended ! Cheers :)
