Visited Mahesh Lunch Home in Vashi, and it was a delightful experience. The spacious dining area and decent ambiance set the stage for a pleasant meal. Besides the fantastic seafood specialties, exploring their menu revealed a range of tempting mocktails and drinks, adding a refreshing touch to the dining experience. If you appreciate vintage wines, this place has you covered. What truly stood out was the authentic Bangalore cuisine, delivering a delightful burst of flavors. The culinary journey extended to the impeccable desserts and mocktails, both of which were a perfect conclusion to the meal. Mahesh Lunch Home is indeed a haven for seafood enthusiasts, offering a well-rounded and enjoyable dining experience.

Had our anniversary dinner here. We had ordered a lobster in butter garlic sauce. Although it was very yum I felt the quantity was too less as there were just 4 pieces of lobster tail meat which cost around 2k 🥹 The bombil fry was heavenly. The ravas curry and neer dosa were okay. We had asked for Mysore curry (if I remember correctly) which was very very spicy, did not expect that. Overall food was good, fish was fresh and all preparations were delicious.

This place in Vashi serves some amazing sea food, coastal cuisine which you should definitely not miss out on if you are in Navi Mumbai ♥️ They have a huge seating area & it is a perfect place for sit down dinners or lunches with your family & friends 😍 The interiors are beautifully done and the staff is extremely cooperative 🙂 We tried the following dishes : Seafood Combination Soup which was delicious and a perfect mix of crab meat & prawns with a Chinese flavoured touch to it 🤤 Next up were Surmai Tawa fry and Dakshin fried chicken. The fish was cooked to perfection & had a right blend of masalas, while the Chicken remained true to its name & had a classic South Indian flavour to it 😍 In mains we tried the Chicken Handi which was spicy & is best suited for people who love spicy curries. My personal favourite was the Prawns Mysore curry which was just amazing & tasted yummy because of the coconut milk base. It was Creamy & delicious & tasted heavenly with the rice served 😍 We had the curries teamed up with Neer dosa, Appam & Steamed rice 🤤 Last but not the least was the Malai kulfi in the desert ✨

The food was delicious. Service was very good. The staff is cooperative and suggested good recommendations. The ambience is good as per regular restaurant decor. Although we went on a weekend, we didn't have to wait.

Visited their Vashi branch. Service was impeccable and on point. The Staff were extremely kind and helpful with their recommendations. The crab was juicy and perfectly spiced. Bombil fry batter was crisp and light. Would definitely be eating here the next time I'm in the area.

If you’re a seafood lover , you need to try this place. We have been a frequent visitor to the Thane outlet but this time we tried the Vashi outlet, this outlet has amazing ambience, the staff was courteous and comfortable seating . We tried thier prawns fry which was ultimate. Then my forever favourite Appam and Mangalorean fish curry, loved it.

If you are a seafood lover then this place must definitely be in your bucket list to go!! Mahesh lunch home located in Vashi, Platinum technopark, sector 30 serves authentic seafood alongwith other varieties of cuisine. Their ambience is very classy with pretty decor throughout right from the entrance! We had seafood combination soup which was perfect for the weather with crab meat, prawns in it. For starters, We tried their prawns koliwada - the prawns was so fresh and soft with crisp coating of the batter, served with mint chutney and thecha!! It was perfect! Murg gulati kebab - it consisted of chicken kebab stuffed with cheese and minced chicken. It was well marinated in spices and tasted good. For mains, Their chicken curry and authentic bombil ch kalwan with steam rice was the ideal combination!! And the star dish was their tender coconut paysam.. it had coconut slices with dry fruits! I highly recommend you guys to try it out! You will end up craving for more!! Overall it is definitely a must visit place guys!

Excellent restaurant serving good variety of non veg food, especially fish, lobster, crab, etc. They will even show the fish or lobster before cooking… ambience is good, but can be little more illuminated. Service is good. Overall little on expensive side, but worth the money.

The experience of dining here was amazing, situated near to vashi station, however, a calm place, ambience looks rich and authentic. The staff are very courteous and friendly. They serve you what's best for you. It’s a famous place for fish must try surmai fry areas fry crabs and bombil thali .. We had some mouth watering delicacy here. Rates are reasonable as per the taste and quantity, so worth it! Would visit here again!

A heaven for sea food lovers. Perfect ambience with delicious food makes this a perfect dine out place. Butter garlic prawns along with butter garlic crab are amazing. If you are lucky you could get to try lobster as well. Price is on the heavier side but it's completely value for money. A must try.

One of my all time favourites for sea food. Visited recently with my family. Tried bombay duck fried and pomfret tikka. Spice was just as I like it. Fish was fresh and delicious. Overall a great experience!

The restaurant has plenty of tables and the interiors are good. They have an extensive menu though its slightly expensive. We tried the squids koliwada, fish fingers, tandoori surmai and prawns Pondicherry curry. The food was good though the quantity of the appetisers was little. The service was slow and the waiter was trying to sell us dishes we didnt want.

Have visited Juhu and Bangalore outlets previously; however it was my first time at the original Mahesh Lunch Home. I was surely not disappointed, but I was surely not blown away either :p
The sweet corn soup was everything you would want a soup to be - thick, with a generous helping of veggies. For starters we ordered the prawn koliwada, which one could easily mistake for the humble home made pakodas had it not been for the unmistakable prawn-tail-crunch. The batter surely lacked depth and was a tad too oily- and hence this one misses the mark. Recommended to stick to the much-acclaimed butter garlic prawns. The chicken seekh kebab was an out-an-out regret. The chicken was hard and chewy, and swallowing it almost felt abrasive. I was humbly reminded to stick to sea food when at Mahesh Lunch home (:
In the veg starters, paneer chilly was delectable with extremely fresh paneer and right blend of sauces.
Went with Rawas Vijaywada curry and appam for main course, and It did help to make up for the lacklustre starters.
The curry flavour was authentic and packed with coconut, which left a subtle and pleasant aftertaste rather than overpowering everything else. Appam was light, fluffy and airy- serving as the perfect accompaniment.
All in all, Mahesh Lunch Home remains what it has always been. Best bet- stick to the things you KNOW cannot fail you.

MAHESH LUNCH HOME VASHI YESTERDAY SERVED US STALE FISH AND CHARGED EXHORBITANT RATE. RATE IS OK THEY SHOULD PROVIDE VALUE FOR THE MONEY
IRRESEPCTIVE OF NOT GIVING GOOD STUFF THE MANAGER IS ABSOLUTELY RUDE IN BEHAVIOUR AND INSISTS ON HIS PRODUCTS BEING THE BEST WITHOUT VERIFYING

I EVEN OFFERED TO BRING THE FOOD BACK TO HIS RESTAURANT SO THAT HE CAN TASTE AND VERIFY THE CLAIMS BUT HE WAS NOT INTERESTED

MOREOVER THE PACKING MATERIAL CONTAINS ALL OLD NUMBERS WHICH ARE NON EXISTENT
AND THEY ARE STILL USING THE SAME NUMBERS WHICH MAKES THE CUSTOMERS MORE DIFFICULT TO EVEN LOCATE AND COMMUNICATE THANKS TO GOOGLE I GOT THE NEW NUMBERS

This meal was such an irredeemable disaster that not even a half-decent surmai fry could save it. Right from the awful squid red chilly pepper - an indo-chinese travesty of a dish that has no business being on the menu - to the rubbery appam, the meal was a series of unfortunate events. A gloopy, over-spiced gassi with overcooked prawns and an asafoetida heavy prawns ghee roast with scarcely a hint of ghee pretty much ruined our Sunday lunch. And if a Mangalorean restaurant cannot do justice to a gassi and a ghee roast what's the point? All the dishes followed a similar pattern - overcooked seafood slathered with a masala that tasted of raw undercooked spices and none of the delicate sour-spicy-sweet notes that one expects. Everything was so far removed from what it should have tasted like that by the end of the meal we didn't even have the will to complain to the management. My advice to customers is this - if you're looking for good Mangalorean food take your business elsewhere because you wont find it at Mahesh Lunch Home.

I was the only vegetarian in a group of sea food eaters and I was pleasantly surprised to get good veg food here. I recommend their tandoori mushroom and veg stew (can be eaten with appam. Ambience and seating was good but service was a bit slow hence gave 4 stars. My group enjoyed seafood very much . Come here for Mangalorean style food and veg food if you are ok with a bit of fishy smell :)

Mahesh Lunch Home has always been the "to-go" place for us when it's all to do with Mangalorean cuisine. This place is also known for its variety of seafood and they never fail to provide us with a memorable experience. This time the ocassion for our visit was to celebrate our Aai Baba's anniversary.
The place gets filled early so always better to make reservations to get rid of the waiting time. Once inside, we hardly glanced at the other cuisines in the menu. We were clear about our choices...seafood all the way. For starters, we had Pomfret Tandoori and Prawns Koliwada. These two stuffs just set the course straight for us for the evening. The tandoori was so perfectly made that it was super fun to enjoy the perfectly marinated fresh pomfret. Then it was time for the main course and it comprised of Ravas Gassi, Crab in Butter Pepper Garlic and Prawns Sukka with Appam, Neer Dosa and Jeera Rice. We were left licking our fingers and everyone relished the sumptuous meal served. Time for some desserts and we had our share of Malai Kuli, Elineeri Payasam and Ultimate Darkness. Mind you, Ultimate Darkness takes some time to be made but be assured it is worth the time. Every thing made our visit so memorable...
The place gets busy soon so it is always recommended to make prior reservations to avoid waiting time. The staff is very hospitable and ensure your time at this place is looked after very nicely. The servers recommendation are also something which should be looked in for when you are a bit confused about the orders. A must visit in the city for seafood galore...
Ambiance: 4.0/5.0
Food: 4.5/5.0
Service: 4.5/5.0

This is our 2nd time in last 1 month that we have experienced bad food quality & taste. Seafood soup was pathetic & surmai gassi was over spicy. Quality has to be improve in terms of food & service. Mahesh Lunch home used to be a name for specialized in seafood cuisines but quality is dropping day by day is what we have experienced. Unfortunately if u enter after 10.30 pm to dine in you will get smelly fish with pathetic taste n even waiters are more interested in adding tip while paying bill than providing service. I was regular customer of Mahesh Lunch home, have been to their all outlets in Mumbai, but after this experience I dn't think I will go to their any other outlet as well. :(
Amrita
Dropped by Friday lunch, wasnt too crowded. Ordered prawns koliwada(reg) for starters n upon insistence of staff ordered butter garlic crab(boneless) after being shown live crab 🙂 prawns were juicy in light batterfried while crab was a bit overpowered by garlic n hardly buttery but it was a quite different preparation from usual crab dishes. Mains were neer dosa & appapam with prawn gassi. Dosa was light and combined well with prawn thick gravy. In all good food but the crab was a whooping Rs 1980 which pinched at the end.

Great food available at this place . Does not feel like outside food. Got a homely feeling when I had the yummy seafood here. And oh the quantity what they give is really worth it. Must eat.

What we ordered and ate:

1. Neer Dosa. 5/5.
All time favorite

2. Chicken sukka: 5/5
Very different from other restaurant's . This tasted and looked exactly like how we South Indians make at home.
Very yummy and good amount of chicken pieces.

3. Sol kadhi: 5/5
Always a great companion with all malvani and south Indian foods

4. Surmai fry: 5/5

Oh wow the slices what they got were just so huge and worth and tasty. Must eat.

5. Pomfret gassi: 5/5
Best in taste. A thicker version of the normal fish curry and the taste was very different and one must eat. Quantity is huge . So if u are a minimal eater 1 piece gassi is enough for 2.

My rate card: (out of 5)

Taste: 5
Location: 5
Food options: 5
Ambience: 4( a little congested seating)
Value for money: 4.7

Overall: 4.8

For more food and travel stories do follow me on instagram.com/nikkis_foodntravel

It’s too hyped . We had crabs sukka - it’s waste of money n not at all Manglorean taste ! We had prawns Koliwada - was a bit burnt ! Fish gheeroast - the masala wAs stale ! Not recommending this place to anyone ! Fish curry was a bit fine but again not as expected by a mangalorean ! Pls improve ur quality

This is the place where you overeat. Hungry not had food out for long come here. Portions are huge. Gassi and curries are great. Service is even better. Bit dark for families maybe . The decor i mean.
Ayushi Jalan Mor
We were told that a portion of prawns has 12 pcs. But we got our parcel with only 8 pcs. And extremely oily

Paradise for sea food lovers......Since it is the oldest of all the branches, the ambience is a bit shady and the place is a bit small as compared to branches at Thane and Vashi, but the food makes up for the negatives of the interiors..... Food is great, had Rawas fry which was made spicy as desired, crab soup and appam with Mangalorean Surmai curry.. Menu has a lot of variety, but some varieties like promfret stuffed with prawns is missing..... Staff is courteous.....Service is also good.......Expensive but Worth visiting.... The other negative- Staff asking for a tip..

This place is a revered institution... Alas seems it's best days are behind it. Went there after years to have lunch. Ordered solkadi, rawas in chili paste sauce and appam. The food was very very oily. I ended up having a really bad after taste and a bad bout of food poisoning. I really do like this place.. I just hope it was a one off...

Took my dad out for a meal. It was a great experience, especially thanks to Sunil Pujari's great recommendation and service. The butter garlic crab, neer dosa, pomfret and prawns gassi were extremely tasty. Will definitely visit again.

My family was always a lover of Mahesh food but we was very disheartened after visiting it recently the quality of the food is not good the fish fry didnt have the fresh taste n was over priced for the quantity overall we felt cheated as sad as it lost it authentic taste . We have striked out this place from out list of restaurants. Sad experience.

Please don’t go by the photograph I’ve posted here, it only occurred to me to click the photograph, when midway through my lunch.

Love seafood?? Visit Mahesh Lunch Home..

Loved the prawns I had there, both the chilly pepper one from the starters, and the king prawns from the main course (photograph attached). Though I had asked for king prawns to be made a little spicy and they still kept it bland, the preparation was nevertheless delicious.

Courteous staff, small waiting time and a nice bar menu.. there you go.. everything you need to commit the sin of gluttony..

Am I coming back here again or what??

The best place to indulge in nostalgia!! Growing up years were bombil fry, neer dosa and prawn gassi. And then we grew up and could afford crab butter pepper garlic. Yum

Had ordered Bombay taka tak crab masala from this place. But before ordering called to check if the crab would be without shell or not. They clearly told me it is without shell. But it was not. Utterly disappointed.

It's a heaven for anyone who loves seafood. Must try the Duck Fry served here, just melts in the mouth. Also the Surmai Fish of this place is really good.
Pratyush Saran
This is one amazing restaurant. Ordered Hyderabadi Pomphret Fish and Prawns, both were spicy and delicious to the core. We went for extra spicy boneless fish for the main course and they made sure it was spicyyy, but it was delicious too. Also the Neer dosa that they make, is ought to be tried too. All in all, you can’t come to Mumbai and not try this. This is a gem and shouldn’t be missed at any cost. 4 stars!

1st visit to the Fort Mumbai one, have been on numerous occasions to the Bangalore one.
The reason for the 5 star rating is 3 words - Butter Garlic Crab.
We did order (2 of us) other things - solkadhi (bit of let down), Surmai rawa fry(excellent again), Prawns Balti (prawns were great, gravy not so much) and neer dosa (good).
If you need some sea food loving, this is the place to go to. Amazing food, courteous staff and great ambience, it has it all. Thank you so much ♥️

Food heaven for a sea food lover.
Top picks - butter garlic crab.
I fall short of words to describe how amazing the butter garlic crab is !!
Ambience is decent.
Staff is welcoming and courteous

I’ve been a patron at Mahesh. This time tried something different was quite disappointed. At the insistence of the waiting staff we ordered Mahesh Special Prawns which were too oily and Fish Balti (instead of gassi, which we initially wanted to order) which was bitter for some reason.
It’s best to stick with the tried and tested and especially avoid the Mahesh Special Prawns and Fish Balti.

Had been here for Sunday lunch. It's the authentic manglorein food which makes this place very special. We tried prawns vijayawada and gassi with appam and neer dosa and it was very yummy. Also the Bombay ducks very quite delicious. Love this place.
Archita Baiju
Have always heard about this place but never really got the chance to do so! Fish is the main USB of this place and being a prawn lover,i quickly decided to order for the Prawns Biriyani and oh boy, loved it to bits. It costed me around 500 rupees which kind of was a let down! The quantity was good, not much and could easily satisfy two people with average appetite. Coming back for more.

After hearing a lot about this place I gave it a try and surely I wasn't disappointed. It is indeed the best place to have seafood.

Here are the dishes that I had
Tandoori pomfret - The cost of pomfret is per the weight. It was the best dish that I had here. Creamy and succulent and highly flavourful, you have to give it a try to know what it's worth. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Bombay duck- The whole fish is covered with semolina first and then deep fried. Quite soft .

This. Place has seriously kept. Its brand name. And taste intact, as a kid I. Used to go. With my fFher and the prawns curry tastes still the same kudos to. This resturant can seriously be classed as one of the hidden jwels. Of mumbai

Being a fish fanatic, couldn't have missed on such a popular place for seafood in Bombay. We tried the Pomfret and the Grilled Surmai along with some salads. The Pomfret didn't seem to be as great as expected. Wasn't very fresh. Though it was prepared well. Surmai was absolutely excellent. Definitely recommended. We ended it on a sweet note with some Caramel Custard.

Coming to the ambience it was quite decent. You might find tons of foreigners down here. The staff is was very courteous but the service was a tad bit slow in the rush hours. Overall, a great place to satiate your seafood cravings!

Heaven for any sea food lover. Delicious crabs and pomfret, accompanied by neer dosa. Try the deshelled crabs if you're trying them for the first time

1. Chicken Bombay Style Takatak (Signature Dish)
2. Butter Kulcha
3. Fish(Surmai) Biryani

Gravy made with marinated chicken & tasty spicy masala. Kulcha with crispy corners & tossed in sesame seeds. Biryani having the aroma of fresh fish.😋

Taste - 4.5/5
Ambiance - 5/5
Service - 5/5
My second visit to MLH recently, man Friday Sundaranna was very helpful in suggesting Tawas Tkka Hyrdabadi in starter and all time favourite neer dosa and Appam which perfectly went well with Surmai Balti as if they are made for ' ek dujey ke liye' !!!

Yummy sol kadi came to our resuce as digestive after the heavenly meal !

Thanks to Sundaranna and his attentive team.

_______________________________________

Mahesh Lunch Home has been known since decades for sea food dishes. It's been a paradise for sea food lovers.

In early 80s, it was regular restaurant for many office goers like me to have lunch of sukha chicken with roti and followed by rice and fish curry at an affordable rate.

MHL has come a long way to gain the celebrity status of fine dine restaurant which is known especially for it's awesome seafood dishes.

The rates are on higher side but ' finger licking' quality of food is guaranteed. Friendly and attend Service is praiseworthy.

Try Mangalorean dishes like neer dosa with prawns gassi or fish masala which is my favorite.

MHL, My regular joint has become occasional joint as money matters. LOL

Pomfret fry, surumai masala alongwith Appams and Neerdosa..
The service qas quick and efficient.. Pomfret was fresh, crisp and non oily... Quite a famous place in town.
Some of my recommendations are
the butter garlic prawns and
butter garlic crabs too.
My all time fav is the tandoori pomfret.
This prices are a little steep compared to other seafood places but they have a good menu to justify..their food preparation is also good..
Omkar Samant
Good food.
Not expensive.
A bit overhyped though. Its not exclusive.

No fish beats home cooked fish !

But a decent place.
Sitting is comfortable and clean. No fish smell.

Service is fast and polite. Very helpful too.
Honest Foody
Me and friend went to Mahesh lunch home in office lunch hours, he is non veg and my veg combination just make us to go for limited options...
Anyway he ordered this prawns Tandoori - as this place is perfect for sea food having smoky flavored marinated prawns, nice preparation as per my friend.
Also he ordered some chicken soup and find it delicious . so should say , atleast my friend got delighted.
I did order manchow soup and seriously not disappointed plus better than many authentic places.
Paneer in Butter Burnet garlic- Small cottage cubes in burnt garlic and spring onion is too good for me.
In mains I had this veg Vijaywada curry - kind of mix veg but not spicy curry is again a winner here....
Overall even as vegetarian it was totally satisfying experience....
Only service was slow to give it 4.

I visited this place first time, even after heard a lot about it and staying in Mumbai for more than 5 years, reason could be, I am proper Jain vegetarian.....:)

So today my non veg friends decide to treat me at this place, as it is heaven for sea food lovers.
So we are 8 in total with an absolute division of veg and non veg table.
We did start with Lemon coriander and Manchie soup.
Lemon was little blend but it is expected in same way.
Manchow ,I though wud be spicy but trust me Taimur Khan generation (small kids) can also have it.

Then we had paneer with burnt pepper garlic , good quantity and not spicey...great job

Cheese corn Tikki- This was best, soft tikki like kebabs and ingredients are fresh.
In the mains we ordered
Paneer Lahori - enough for 4 of us and Veg Vijaywada curry - super duper mix veg , any day u can have it.
Paneer Lahori is simple paneer cooked in Indian gravy.
Best dish of the day was badam paak - from the sweet shops of North this moong dal halva having lots of almond was killer....
Service was little slow although.
Manasi Desai
A disappointing experience.
Usually one of my favourite sea food restaurants, this place proved to be a disappointment on our last visit.
Food
We ordered:
1. Crab meat Soup:
The crab meat was fresh, however the soup itself lacked salt.

2. Tandoori Tiger Prawns:
Fresh tiger prawns, cooked for the right amount of time, but again-lacking salt and proper seasoning.

3. Bhoona hua Pomfret
The same story continued with our (fresh, properly cooked, yet lacking in salt) Pomfret.
After each of the above dishes were served, we informed our servers regarding the lack of salt, but did not see a lot of change.

4. Surmai Balti
This was the star of our evening- flawlessly flavoured curry, with the right amount of salt, spices and seasoning; and the boneless surmai itself was pan fried before adding it to the curry, which gave it a distinct flavour.

5. Neer Dosa and Appams: These were soft, well made and proved to be the perfect accompaniment for our mains.

Ambience: The place has always had a basic, welcoming and pleasant ambience.

Service: Our server was attentive, and ready with good suggestions for our dishes; but was unable to convey the lack of salt in our food to the kitchen.

Overall, we were extremely disappointed, since the place did not live to our expectations, as per their usual standards

Went to this joint after booking a table. The staff were polite and friendly. The crab was nice and apicy while the neer dosa and butter chicken were cooked to perfection. Only downside were the prices but the quantity and quality are worth it.

One of the best places for seafood.... and the variety is just endless... usually I have tried the stuff which is common .. like fish balti, or prawns ghassi.. but today thought to try something diff ...
Crab takatak - not spicy .. delicious
Squid ghee roast- generally bitter garlic is always wt we order ... but nevertheless it’s worth giving it a try .. 🌶
Pesto ravas masala- this was the best ... smooth and just melts in ur mouth
All aides with neer dosa and gulped down with sol kadi
Wish u guys cudv opened a place n Delhi... *sigh* I miss seafood 🦞

Don't suggest this restaurant to anyone! The food was not good, fish was stinky. The worst experience was waiter asking for tips cause customer was foreigner. The customer had no changes to give tips, the waiter was standing next to our table and showing his face. Definitely will not go anymore and will suggest friends dont go to this restaurant as well.

Quite a popular place for seafood. Enjoyed their crab with garlic pepper and butter. Goes very well with neer dosa.
They have a wide range of fish like surmai, Bombay Duck and rawas. Good prawns as well. Service is very good. Ambience is average.

Heard a lot about this chain of restaurants so decided to visit when we were looking for a place to have lunch. Tucked away in one of the lanes near Horniman Circle, this was a decent family restaurant type of place. My Grilled Fish was great and I really enjoyed having the veggies it came with. The curries were delicious as well so basically you don’t need to worry about taste here. What you might want to keep in mind are the prices, which are on the higher side.
Jeniffer Francis
After such a long time found a seafood restaurant who can actually keep up the same taste across all the outlets in mumbai. Long story short you must try their vijaywada curry which is chef's special you can try it with rawas/surmai/basa the curry is too good. Along with that we had also ordered for Prawns balti where we could actually taste the difference in both the curries (since they looked similar). Neer dosa is just melt in the mouth. Dessert however, isn't that tempting. This 4 is only for the seafood!!!
Tanvi Trivedi
One of the best places for seafood. Excellent prawn curries, lobsters gravies, appams, pomfret, surmai, dishes here. Must try for all seafoodies!

Seeing the price you expect a great level of food. Food is quite average. It feels quite expensive as the quantity is quite less. Dessert is not at all worth spending such a high amount. Service is quite slow.

Went there for office lunch, the food was great
I had Mojito, Veg Lahori and Naan.
The quantity and quality justified the price.
The ambience and decor of the place is really amazing too.

Went there with a friend... Nothing fancy about this restaurant ... It's all about food..... Had the best crab ....it's was outstanding..... Staff was very attentive.....1 star deducted for the prawns ..I think it was some kohliwada prawn ....very average .....
All in all a must try place ....prices definitely on higher side ....but the quality justifies

We have visited their Fort branch. Mahesh lunch home is paradise of sea-food lovers. This place is quite famous, so be prepared to wait for your turn to come especially on the weekends. The ambiance is average. The food is best is terms of quality, quantity and pricing. Highly recommended.

This place has literally shattered all my misconception about north Indian food at a south Indian joint😅! The Veg Food here is amazing I must admit...😁
And for all the bongs reading this and longing for Kolkata style egg rolls... THIS is the place you MUST visit and order the egg spring roll...
Had appams and a paneer curry... dont recollect the name and cant find in menu here... but the curry was fantastic😍
Staff was friendly... got to touch n click a pic with the crab😋
Though the cost is on higher side still would really love to visit again... 😎

One of the best places townside for fish..we went on a Thursday afternoon for lunch. Had to wait for 20 mins but the food was completely worth the wait. Slightly on the pricier side and had to wait another half an hour for the food to arrive but the flavours totally blew us away. Giving it a 3 star only for the delay in serving our table. When you get here do order the prawns Balti, appams, chicken sukka and rawas fry.

We were people of 2
I went here twice and wishes to revisit 😉
So in the frst visit we ordered crab masala ( bcoz we have been der for the crab only) and appam and prawns masala too bt the quantity of crab was sufficient for 2 of us so we asked the waiters to parcel up the prawns
The crab was the yummiest and the size was quite big enough ...even the prawns was big in size
... for the second visit once again v had the crab and the appam
Do visit
Sea food iz amazing and the rates too are nt vry high

Have been visiting Mahesh since a long time and every time i visit, it is no less a pleasure. The appam and prawns balti is a big seller, along with basa masala fry.

Have been to MLH a long time back.
Never been to this branch.
Today after a drive to churchgate and not having parking space, we ended here.

Huge menu. Lot to choose from. Reviewers should give more details about the food they ordered as it would help make a choice.

MLH is famous for seafood dishes. So ordered only seafood dishes to try out.

Staff are helpful in making choices but I chose as i wanted.

Mahesh Special Soup : 4/5
Requested for more spicy which we got. Seafood is a few morsels of cut prawns and few flakes of crab, but fresh.

Mahesh Prawns in butter garlic : 3/5
This version has fried prawns. Too much oil in batter. Garlic also had too much oil than butter.
Should go for normal version.

Pomfret tawa fry : 5/5 😚
Good size slice and cooked perfectly. Not much masala at all. Mint and coriander chutney helps but not much.

Solkadi : 5/5😚
Refreshing and best had before and after meals. The version here was perfectly balanced and right consistency. Could drink a few glasses of solkadi.

Prawn Gussi : 3/5
Thick gravy with overcooked prawns. Wish they were not so overcooked. Did inform staff when asked about food.

Neer Dosa : 3.5/5

1/2 Rice : 3.5/5 - The plain fish curry with the rice did not have much flavour.

Ambience is ok. Tables are a bit too close.
Parking space was available today.

Should come here for their seafood choices.
Expensive a bit but you get quality food and a lot to choose from.
Need to inform staff if you want more spicy as food is cooked without much spiciness and could be bland for some.

Hope I get time to come here and try more dishes.
Over rated. Not authentic mangalorian food. Food lacks flavour, very bland and non spicy. We had very high hopes from this place but were disappointed.

It is very popular place for seafood. Staff is really good. We ordered bombil fry and tandoori prawns as starters. Bombil (Bombay duck) were crisp and nicely coated. Tandoori prawns were good. For main course we ordered pomfret tawa fry, which was really good. Surmai balti, appam and neer Dosa. Appam and neer Dosa were sour. Then we ordered prawns biryani. And here came the disappointment. Prawns were not fresh. We complaint about it to the staff but they chose to ignore.

Have been here several times in the past..
The ambience is great..
The service is average to good.. It can be improved though with the communication skills of some..

Food
1. Tandoori surmai filet.. Huge serving.. It's quite a bit to share between two.. As an appetizer.
But it was tasty and fish was soft.. Great flavours to the masala..

2. Butter pepper garlic prawns were a miss.. Indianised version.. Prawns were dry and over cooked..

3. Vijayawada rawas fish curry.. Dish of the day for me.. Excellent fish curry..coconuyty but not over bearing in that flavour.. Spicy enough to want more..

4. Prawn gassi this time was absolute disaster.. Wrong flavours and prawns were overdone.. Sent it back..

5. Soul curry.. Excellent.. Refreshing..

The reason I still give it four stars is due to the fact that I've been here multiple times and I've never cone away feeling cheated.. Always with a belly full of good food.. Hence this experience won't prevent me from going again and neither should you be worried about going there after reading my review.. Even the best have an off day..

The Mahesh at Fort has been consistently good. You are never disappointed with any dish you order. You must have the aapams and gassi in the main course. It’s known for the sea food and the tasty ones as prawn Koliwada and bombil fry for starters. Mutton sukha was also very tasty. Their kaju masala in red gravy is very unique and tasty

The staff is very helpful but the food was disappointing. We actually returned a crab dish because it wasn’t fresh and was a bit smelly. This is the 2nd time I’ve been disappointed by Mahesh. They used to be the best place for sea food once. Hope they pull up their standards again.

Although we went during off season to this place it still managed to touch our taste buds truly one of the best restraunt for fish food one must definately try it out. For the Starters we tried the Rawas Tandoori which was nice, the Pomfret tandoori didn't go quite well with us , and the Prawns Koliwada tasted good. For the Main Course we had their Prawns Biryani and authentic South indian Crab Curry which was amazing , to end it we had their lemon soda which was very refreshing .All the dishes have very good quantity , also their prices are reasonable enough and above all excellent services provided by the staff Special Mention to Mr Suresh Poojari and Mr Nagraj

Just visited the restaurant with family today for dinner. It had been ages since I visited this restaurant and always did walk out with a very satisfied feeling. But Not this time. The staff was polite, service good, The food way below standard. I may not be a professional chef but yes do understand good and tasty food. It was only chilly and spice. The chicken in some coconut preparation was hard and fibrous, I did bring to notice of the captain.
Mahesh may be having a couple of outlets around but guys sorry to say your quality is way below. You'll need to do something about your food. One should not get complacent with success. Nothing and no one is indispensable. Txs. Lavin

One of the places to be if sea-food is what you are craving for. Visited this place after quite a while... but everything still reminds you of the earlier days... the food still tastes unique and even though they have upgraded the interiors they have not compromised on taste. Still a fav with weekenders along with families... booking early will help so that you don't have to wait. Crab...Prawns... Fish you name it yummy whatever we ordered. Veg food also available but not as much options as non-veg.

Date- 15/08/18

Me and my family visited here after shopping as we want to eat some fish. As we entered we were amazed with ambiance. Decent lighting, perfect table arrangements made this place attractive. We have ordered chicken lemon coriander soup, prawns koliwada, surmai fry, chicken chettinadu, neer dosa and appam. Minced chicken was used in chicken coriandor soup. It was perfectly sour and tasty. Fry surmai was quite big in size. But very well cooked. Serving person was quite helpful and sweet talking. He gave us their chutney which was superb. Chettinadu and neer dosa was also up to the mark. Chicken was soft and tender. Uppams was something different we tasted. It was looking like dosa made in kadai... Bt taste and softness was good.
At the end we have ordered solkadi and sitafal and malai kulfi. Solkadi was perfect spicy, perfect thick n sour. Kulfi was very soft and tasty. Overall review was awsome. Dishes was costly but it was worth for each rupee. Will definitely visit again.

Food-5/5
Service- 5/5
Ambience- 4.5/5

Value for money- 5/5

This is probably one of the earliest places I've eaten at that I remember. I've been here twice since, and it hasn't failed to impress.

Mahesh is one of those restaurants that remind you of home (Mangalore). Yes, the service is posh and the prices to match it too, but the taste is unrivaled. You won't be disappointed.

Everything on their menu is delicious so I won't recommend anything in particular. You can just point out to any dish and you'll love it.

I must mention the bombil fry, which is different from the generic besan fried variety. They stuff it with masala and then do a gentle rawa fry on it. The result is a light, fluffy and flavorful fish.

The tandoori pomfret is brilliant too! My parents couldn't stop raving about it. The neer dosa is just like the one made at home; I love it!

Most dishes are priced at "As Per Catch" and the prices aren't too exorbitant. They also have a chinese menu for you, but I'd give that a miss for the fish items here. They do serve alcohol, and I'd recommend a beer to go with your seafood. Nothing beats that.

Service is great, since they've got waiters in their mid-40s, who know how to approach the clients and recommend the best dishes too. Sometimes the yuppie waiters are only concerned with getting you to order the most amount so that their tips increase. I'd ask Mahesh to keep hiring such wonderful service staff.

One thing I must mention, is that the restaurant perpetually smells of fish. If you're someone who doesn't like the smell, you might want to carry a handkerchief to immunize you from that. I wish the restaurant did something about it.

An average seafood meal for 2 will cost you around 3 to 4 thousand depending on your taste. But you can also bring it down to 2000, if you skip the alcohol and order prawns only.

Definitely recommended for that home kind of service. Well done!
