Review Fountain Inn - Mumbai

Great ambience! Tried Murg Chilly Milly and Murg Soneri Kebab- both were too good! Murg Soneri was the besttt and something new! If you want to try something new about chicken and tandoori/tikka, this dish will surely try to fulfill your needs! Overall great taste with great ambience. You can also get drinks- thus, it seems like a perfect and decent place to have food.

Good and reasonably priced restaurant. Their speciality is non veg and seafood

Very decent restaurant. We didn't feel brave enough to go for any seafood but the chicken dishes were very tasty. Nice place. Open late.

Have been visiting this place for more than 2decades, excellent food both in taste, quality. What I like most is service, one need not call the staff for orders or clearing the table. I am a loyal foodie for this place, whenever I am in this area, no alternative for this one.

Come here for Mangalorean cuisine. Don't drink alcohol, just eat. The food is really good and you will want to stuff yourself. Try your favourite seafood in pulimunchi curry or masala curry. Fry fish or prawns for starters. Chicken sukka is also good. Have it all with neer dosa and brown rice (ukda chawal)

Awesome authentic Manglorean Food with classic ambience.. in addition to this Chinese and North Indian food is also good...

Try the prawn gassi, prawn sukha, rawas tikkas and fried Bombay duck

A good place for Mangalore type food. Specially sea food 😋 A bit on the expensive side.

It's my all time fav restaurant very nice food and spacious, it's good for both veg and non veg but people who don't eat fish may not be comfortable as while the fish is being served at the next table u cannot expect not to smell any, for me that doesn't matter am pure non veg. So it's one of my regular place

I have been to Fountain Inn twice now, and I have enjoyed the chicken platter here. Their crispy prawns and tanduri king prawns dishes are worth trying. You would also savour their prawn curry dish as the curry has that authentic south Indian taste to it.

The only thing I was a bit disappointed about was the mutton biryani; the pieces of meat in the biryani weren't tender at all, and I disliked its odour as well as the taste.
Deeksha Poojary
I've been there couple of times. It serves great south Indian as well as north Indian food. The staff is also quite good. The ambience is simple and attractive. The main attraction is the huge fish tank.
Food we ordered

Chicken biryani
Taste- 4/5
Chicken was perfectly cooked and rice was filled with layers of flavours.

Manchow soup
Taste -3.5/5
It was good but not up-to the mark.

Lemon soda
Taste- 3/5
It was just like the regular lemon soda we have at the streets. But yes this one was made up in a hygienic way. It is just a good option for after meal drink.
Rishabh Masani
Absolutely love it. Good ambience.
Starters- 5/5
Starters were heavenly. Especially the platters. Non veg starters were delicious too.

Main course- 5/5
Aromatic gravies. Like you expect from good restaurants.

The food was so bad that I suffered from food poisoning would never eat at this place again and also would not recommend anyone to eat here there were cockroach’s all over the place very much dirty place for a restaurant

Have been a frequent visitor to this place... The food is undoubtedly tasty but today came across a very sorry incident here .. A manager ( don’t know his name) treated a fellow workman ( a new joiner waiter) in a vvv harsh manner physically mishandling him and verbally using trash language. The poor soul did not react obviously but this is so wrong ... You can’t treat people like that ... Even if you are an owner or manger u can’t treat ppl under you without keeping sense of humanity... When I raised my voice n told him he said it’s a part of his training .. to which I said don’t train him to be like u.. He was not sorry at all ... Such people are a stigma to humanity... We come to restaurant for an experience n not to see such a inhuman behaviour... that boy was taken aback by his managers behaviour... Truely sad
TANISHA D'SOUZA
Being a sea food lover myself I look around for places with hearty meals ND so my experience was a very good one whatever was ordered was very well marinated ND clean so I loved the sea food platter the best
Gaurav Praja
Quite little joint with excellent seafood. Anything you order in fish or prawns is simple delicious. Service is quick and resemble good old days of south mumbai. They also serve liquor which is always added advantage.
Bhupee N
Not good in taste . Order delay pomfret not proper cook . Not again visit in this restaurant. Don't waste your time to come here . I am not happy to come here .
Rohit Nagavkar
Poor n arrogant customer service, very bad behavior n no respect towards customers, they behave like serving the food free of cost. Very dominating & irritating towards menu orders.
Amit Shetye
Nice food and amazing staff..... Fish dishes also must try... My personal favorite has to be chicken platter.... Quality n quantity at its best.
Savio Benny DeSouza
Nice place to be. Staff is really polite and we mannered. Will definitely one back to this place. Tried the half platter was worth it for 400/- nd the chicken neer dosa. 2 good dishes. Squid wasn't fresh and they politely obliged in returning the order. Very few hotels do this and this was really appreciated by me.

I remember going to this place since my childhood days. My father used to work near Flora Fountain and he along with his friends visited this place quite frequently. Now it’s been a while since everyone moved out of the office near Flora Fountain yet everyone meets up at this place just to relive old times. This place hence holds a very special place in a lot of our hearts. So obviously this place is great when it comes to food else they wouldn’t have chosen this place to hang out. The seafood out here is AMAZING. So if you’re a fish lover then you definitely owe yourself a visit here. The prawn fry, surmai fry, halwa fry, pomfret fry should be on the top of your list. Do not leave this place without tasting their authentic Manglorian style fish curry, pair it up with Neer Dosa and there you go the most splendid seafood experience!
Mohan Amin
Fountain Inn is one of the oldest Mangalorean restaurant, specialised in serving authentic mangi cuisines like neer dosa and prawns galli, Kori Roi etc.

Recently I had been to the place solo for surmai gassi with roti and neer dosa. It has retained it's old flavour but lost few things over the period of time.

Yasmin Patni
Don't know why but they are not opened to deliver the food even to nearr by place...its happened twice!!...I was craving for crispy prawns but not got..:(
Amanda De Sales
My parents have been visiting Fountain Inn for the pass few decades and have been raving about it. I finally got a chance to eat here and to be honest I have mixed reviews. The appetisers were really good. We had the surmai fry, bombil fry and butter garlic prawns. For mains, we tried the prawn balti and the mutton sukha. The prawns were really really spicy and the mutton was really tough (although I did like the masala). The dosas and appams were average.

The best food to be tasted in town is here.
I have been here several times but the quality of food is always awesome. All staff here are kind n soft spoken. Good service...
Love to have south Indian dishes here.
Neer Dhosa and cheese garlic is my favorite dish.

Food n taste 5/5
Service 5/5

Good to have lunch n dinner with family n friends,.
I love to visit this place everytime.

Tucked in a small bylane in Fort. Again a sea fod joint. There should be research in Mumbaj history as to.why are there so many sea food joints un the fort arra itself
Good courteous service and the regular sea food items.
The prawn gassi has a lot of prawns and is a bit thick. The soul kadi was spunky . But alas the sutmai fry was stale. We asked him many a times is the fish fresh but it was stale . However quantity and authenticity on track. Try it maybe post monsoon.
Shashank Kumar
Went there for an office lunch.
Tried pomfret fried which really was good in quantity and taste. Prawns didnt impress me much . Their chicken special was better and raised our spirits.
Also the location being fort area space is an issue. Seating arrangement was bit cramped up.
Do try once for all the hype.
South Mumbai has a vast selection of old school seafood joints, which have last decades and have a nice old Mumbai feel to them. We visited Fountain inn, one of these old school joints, for a meal and came out feeling that we had expected much more. We headed to the family section of the place and were greeted by the staff who got us comfortably seated. We ordered the staple for seafood restaurant orders, the bombil fry, the squid butter garlic and the prawns fry. We also ordered a couple of sol kadis to go with this. The sol kadi unfortunately wasn't all that fresh, and that wasn't a great start to the meal. The batter on the bombil fry was thick and crunchy, reminding me of pakodas...as opposed to being light and crisp. The fish by itself though was very fresh! At least it wasn't flattened beyond recognition that many restaurants do. The squid butter garlic was rather tasty, with its thick buttery garlicky sauce and the vertically cut squid (as opposed to the rings that we are used to seeing). The prawns fry turned out to be the prawns kolidwada fry, with the red batter. But it was nice and flavourful! No second thoughts there. Again, the chutney served on the table along with these starters wasn't fresh either. That's really unacceptable. We then went for the silver fish fry, which was quite small in size, but generous in quantity to make up for it. The batter, again, was the koliwada type. But still, the fried silver fish was full of flavour and the crispness outside added to it! We were quite full by the end of it, and decided to go for a chicken fried rice to be shared between us (yes, it sounds blasphemous, ordering fried rice at a coastal place...but trust me, this one has saved us from the blushes, since finishing off curries, steamed rice and neerdosas becomes too much after a point of fullness). A good place to grab a drink over some nice fried fish maybe, since it offers some VFM alcohol, but overall, i'd give it a miss next time!

Quality is good, however be careful about the pricing at this joint. The service personals don’t give a damn to caution you on the APS pricing on certain dishes and will give you a bombshell while presenting you the bill. Instead you would think of reaching a star studded dinner in one of the cities best 4/5 star joint

Visited a lot of times.. a nice quiet restaurant to enjoy with friends and family along with drinks.
Major recommends - lasooni kebab, chicken n prawns Gassi n all type of South Indian dishes available on menu

I have visited this place with my friends to celebrate one of my friends birthday.
This place serves good quality of food.
Both veg and non veg are good.
Starters and desserts are nice..
Nikhil Patel
Last night was there to celebrate friends birthday. We had ordered mutton sukha and koriroti (dry South Indian roti) and found dry cockroach in the roti. Dirty place.

Sumptous sea food! Garlic prawns, prawns koliwada, surmai gassi, surmai masala fry(green & red),neer dosa all this gr8 stuff. Crabs and clam shells are still on the wishlist. Soon enough.

If ur in town and are looking for a budget meal with good taste then this place is a good pick.. Preferred choice of menu would be mughlai and sea food.. Tucked in the lanes of flora fountain the places offers dishes that do not compromise on quantity and offer a pleasant service
Shabbir Baldiwala
Reasonably priced bar, good sea food and starters. Prompt service. Good ambience too. The ground floor section has a ‘quarter’ system on drinks. Value for money surely.
Srinivas Naidu
Great place great food and great service recommended, our favourite place for lunch... daily hangout for lunch..
food: 4/5
Service: 3/5
Value for money: 3/5
Mahesh Keer
Poor and arrogant customer service, just ask them rates and what a particular dish contains and see the revert... really bad for such an old restraurant.
Ajit Parab
Very bad service...... They should give value to each n every consumer. Manager s are not responding at all.
Service were very bad. ........
Rohit Gangawane
Above rating is related to misbehaviour of representatives of this restaurant. Teach Ur staff how give proper service to customer. We were there just to spend good time with closed friends. But assumption of Ur staff towards us..spoil our quality time. And yes we respect elder people than us that's why we were in our limit.
Akshay Suresh Dalvi
Very bad customer service...I would never recommend my frnd to go there. Manager waiters are rude while talking. Bad service. N customer relation
Sagar Desai
In my whole life after visiting soo many restaurants and hotels experience had such worst customer service.. me and my friends visited this place all the way from lower parel in such rainy season for dinner. One of my friend asked about one dish name and casually asked what exactly the dish n what is price. A person who took our orders got offended about asking such things. He mumbled in mouth said "Hum log bazar main thodi baithe hai" which pissed my off alot. Again we asked for chatani and he answered us "à€čà€Ÿ à€‰à€žà€•à„‹ à€Șà€‚à€– à€Čà€—à€Żà€Ÿ à€čà„ˆ à€‰à€Ąà€•à€° à€†à€Żà„‡à€—à€Ÿ" i means WTH that guy is thinking about us ??? Are we uneducated or we don't have money to pay them ??? It is so ridiculous we cancelled our all orders n leaved that place. Before leaving that place i called manager n explained all this and told him customer can asked u many things n u r entitled to answer politely. This is not acceptable to humiliate customers. You have loosed a business due to such manners less behaviour and hospitality. I will never ever recommend this place my any other Friends.
Somak Maitra
The place is very easy on the pocket and serves great food. They seem to specialize in Mangalorean oota and their neer dosa and chicken curry was superb. Ambience is a little seedy but otherwise a great place for a quick bite and drink.
Arup A.k.a Rupert
One of the oldest restaurant in fort known for their food, quality consistency and service.. it's my favourite restaurant to opt for quick lunch..
this restaurant also has lodging facilities with a reasonable rates..
we have tried almost all the dishes from the menu..
THe seafood over here is brilliant, one can blindly opt for choices of seafood..

#Chicken 65: very different preparation from places I have had and I m in love with it,small bony pieces of chicken with curry leaves, chillies and deep fried and obviously very less oily...

#Chicken biryani: Very elegantly made, not too heavy on spices, serves an individual easily, one can relish a huge leg of chicken piece with a whole boiled egg in it, accompanied with raita...

#Chicken sukha: Again a bony chicken pieces cook in South Indian spices and without coconut flakes, less oily and good portion serves a person easily.

#Dal khichdi: another lovely preparation of rice and dal cooked with peas, carrots, onions..

#surmai/bangda curry: can never go wrong, yellow curry perfectly balanced with coconut milk with fish chunks in it...

Food: 4.5/5
Ambience: 4/5
Value for money: 4/5

** this restaurant closed for afternoon service during Ramadan period and is operating only for dinner service**

Its an average restaurant...
Food quality average. Budget friendly...
Its nyc place for drinks...they serve bowl of cheeselings to munch till the order is served. Surmai fish tikka was the best one.

If you want a southindian taste in fishfood, this is the right place to visit. Surmai fry or promfet fry and prawns gassi and neer dosa thats all you need. Very tasty food and nice service you get here.
Tahir K
Decent looking place at fort. The ambience was nothing fancy nor did they have any music playing which makes for a quite dinner due to this u can often hear other people's conversation lol
The cheesy potato balls were great but when the main dish of chilly prawns arrived it lacked some serious flavor. Wheat tandoori roti was nothing special either. I felt the pricing was a little high considering the flavor. Waiters were polite and service was quick. Overall it's an okay place.
Shyamal
One of my preferred places to order from when I was working in Churchgate. The venue itself has a decent work lunch kind of ambience and is fully air-conditioned. The sea food is supposed to be quite good but being a vegetarian, I'd recommend the Paneer Kadhai, Veg Kolhapuri and Dal Tadka along with a Butter Roti. Ask for everything to be made spicy. Really yummy. Have the Masala Pappad while your food comes. Service at the venue is pretty good although delivery takes time so order an hour in advance.
Pratiksha
Typical manglorian style prep..
Amazing taste💕..

Recommended for those who love Fish...
Ambiance is good.. Staff are polite... service is fast..

Budget place located near the iconic fountain statue area....It's well known for its sea food....Descent ambience too and service was ok....Tried the surmai tava fry and chicken tangdi kebabs... liked it....Been here twice and surely will come again....

This is one of those restro high on taste quotient and low on budget. There are two sections :lower section pics are uploaded on zomato which looks okayish, I went to upper section which had pretty much decent ambience.
So, coming to food we ordered:
Crispy prawns: scrumptious and tasty
Surmai tikka:my fav it was soft succulent and mesmerised me
Chicken schewan fried rice which was good too
Overall, I was initially reluctant to try this restro out but now I will definitely visit again to try more yummier dishes.
The place seems to be quite average from outside but it is huge from inside (usual town thing i guess). The food is surprisingly great, the deserts are good too. The service is average, but we generally go there in a huge group - 7-8 people, so of course the delivery time will be more. Liked the starters and deserts a lot. Overall a "can be tried out once" place which is in budget really!
Krupa Deshmukh
A nice place i busy area of fort... Pahadi chicken , chicken tikka, crispy chicken all of them were delicious... Triple rice veg is also gud... Veg anarkali, paneer tikka masala were just perfect...Mocktail and cocktails both gud ...veg manchow soup was nice... chicken biryani was ok. Overall nice restaurant and pocket friendly...
Kainaz Irani
We ordered half tandoori chicken ( not in pic) , the chicken was dry n tough..sum chicken gravy..we had told dem to make it spicy..but dey didn't..chicken again not cooked properly..masala papad was OK..lacked chat masala..butter roti was also OK..caramel custard was gud..total bill was 850/-..not recommended.. Quantity was small..for one person only..ambience was good..waiters stand very near not respecting our personal space..

For the love of fish!

Hidden in a small lane just off Flora Fountain, this place is a beauty. Low profiled and unassuming, it carries within its folds some real delights. The place is not much to speak of; it looks more like some plush office canteen than a restaurant. But it is clean, comfortable, and kind to your wallet.

We went for lunch, but decided to order some fried surmai before the main course. The surmai turned out to be delicious! Lovely texture, beautifully marinated in konkani spices, amazingly fried - it was cooked to perfection. We ended up ditching the main course and ordered more of the beauty; its succulence and flavour tempted us till we could eat no more. But eat we did - we couldn't resist ordering some butter garlic prawns and boy, weren't we glad! They came with gravy which made us a bit skeptical, but the fusion of the heavily garlic-ky gravy and the juicy prawns was nothing short of brilliant. We were licking our fingers at the end. The cold and vibrant pink solkadhi we finished with was simply the cherry on the top. It wrapped up our offbeat meal with a flourish of coconut milkiness and tangy kokam. We couldn't ask for more.

Simply put - a must go for every fish-lover!

My personal pic prawns Sukka, Fish Ghassi appam and surmai fry. Need i say anything more? Delicious coastal food with the right blend of flavors. Try it and you wont regret it.

Good food!! Grt service! Must try Chicken maharaja if ur in a group! Even chicken tandoori was good!! Good joint been here 3 to 4 times!! Try it at least once!
Rohan Raut
Good place for manglorian style seafood. Surmai curry and rice is must try there. Even bombil fry and prawns koliwada is good. This place has never disappointed me in last 15 years. Decent ambience and good service
Malavika Halady
I've been visiting this place with my parents since I was really young. Perhaps in grade 3/4, and they have the most amazing fried fish, curry and rice! They have revamped their interiors but the quality of the food still remains the same. I still remember the first time I had the fish curry here, thick, spicy and flavourful, and I have to say it still tastes the same! The portions are generous, and the staff very friendly and swift with taking orders.
One of my favourite places in town, hands down!
The Foodicts
Fountain Inn is located at Fort near to Siddharth college. The place is inside a very narrow lane.

Reasons to Visit:

1) Staff knows about the dishes in the menu
2) Well lit place compared to Bar and restaurant

Been here twice.
Very decent place. Ambience is very nice.
Food as well as Service is good.

On 1st occasions had Butter Chicken, Fried Bombay Duck, Fried Mandeli & on 2nd occasion had Chicken Maharaja with Neer Dosa and Butter Garlic Naan.

Liked the food.
Overall..👍 👍 👍

Amazing food. This place is our all time favorite since it's not very expensive. For the price you pay, quantity is proportionate. It's known for its fish, but other meat dishes and Veg food is good too.

Must Try:
Nonveg chicken Kabab Platter
Prawn Gazi with rice or need dosa
Bombil Fry
Tandoori Prawns
Chitrang Rathod
Been here with my office colleagues, good ambience
Food is just amazing specially the prawns biryani was jus yummmm!
Services was also really good as the waiters were very attentive.
Value for money - 3.5/5

Great manglorean sea food. Good service. Reasonable pricing! Other cuisines offer variety like Chinese which is also tasty. Ambience is fairly decent!
Prianka
Good mangalorean food, good sea food love the chicken curry with neer dosa and appams with mutton curry. Even their mughlai food is good here love their tandoori dishes. Their chicken 65 dry and chicken lollypop makes for a great appetiser. All in all a nice small casual place to go to for some good food.
Pat
Terrible. In several different ways.
One, despite repeated requests to take care and not use chicken stock or non-veg wok, my soup still had shreds of meat. Conclusion, which was confirmed by manager, no separate kitchen space exists for vegetarians. Jains folks, beware!!!!
Two, food is badly made with no pride in expertness. Overcooked noodles (btw, Jain folk, note, it's egg noodles), smelly oil, run-of-the-mill vegetables; not even the sasta mung-bean-sprout, forget about pieces of Bok-choi or celery or bamboo shoot. There was no searing because the wok was not hot enough.

However small or large, if one doesn't take pride in their craft, this is the result.

The servers were efficient, quiet and alert. That's something to build on.
Havovi H. Aibara
One of the oldest and finest seafood restaurants at fort( yes, better than the overpriced Mahesh lunch home), and pocket friendly too. Our staples include prawns schezwan dry which is full of flavours, crispy fried Bombay ducks, fried baby pomfret and fish curry rice which is yummy!
The fresh lime water is refreshing. Overall its a restaurant which is reasonably priced and serves tasty food! The ambience is also quite good!
Troy Fabian Dsouza
One of the few places to find good sea food. They style is Mangaloran style. Try the prawn gassing with ne'er dosa. Starters surmai fry (deep fry), sukka mutton also is good. Good place good food and reasonably priced.
Shamiana
Excellent Seafood at reaonable price.Tried their Koliwada Rava fried prawns-Very fresh and very nicely prepared. Loved it.Though people are complaining about the service at this place, but I feel it is becos they prepare each item according to the order, which is why the food tastes so fresh . Although we went during non-lunch hour, the waiter attending to us was very co-operative and got a Veg.biryani made for my colleague -which was also pretty good. Will keep frequenting to try their other dishes.
Food Enthusiast
Our go to place for most family occasions. Yummy mangalorean food which reminds me of home cooked food. A great place for sea food lovers especially who love south indian cuisine. Good service and amicable staff.
Ravi Shanker
The place is a must try for sea food lovers, especially price conscious. Near to flora fountain, it is mostly frequented by office goers. Ambience is good for family also. Service quality is also upto the mark.

A very value for money restaurant in Fort area. Naan were served hot. We ordered Chicken Do pyaza which was good enough. Ambience not so great.
Ambience 3.5/5
Food 4.5/5
Service 4.5/5

This is a coastal sea food specialty restaurant tucked in a bylane at Flora Fountain.
Ambience is family oriented but frequented by office types in the afternoon.
Service is efficient, well-informed and courteous.
Average meal per person without drinks is Rs 500/- to 700/-
Since it specialises in seafood , patrons mostly order the seafood, as did we.
Dishes worth trying are SCHEZWAN CRAB, CRISPY PRAWNS, BOMBAY DUCK FRIED. PRAWNS TAWA. FISH PULLIMANCHI( spicy) PRAWNS BUTTER PEPPER GARLIC.
rates here are cheaper than the other specialty seafood restaurants
Worth visiting repeatedly

Had been to this place for a casual lunch with parents. The first look of this hotel is like will it be good enough?? But I was really surprised by the amazing food n service... for a person who prefers fine dining n 5stars always.. I just loved the food here.. we ordered for mutton soup... it was ultimate.. sumthng I have never had anywhere.., bombil fry, butter garlic squid.. for starters
In main course we had rawas ghasi with neer dosa. The location is ok.. but it's a must try for the seafood.. it's very very reasonable n worth it
Chandrahas Bk
Decently priced decent sea-food joint. I liked many gassis (gassi is a coconut based gravy preparation) of fish/squid/chicken. One who loves to eat squid preparations, must try squid sukka here. Good place to taste coastal (more particularly, Mangalorean style) cuisines.
Aadil Desai
Fountain Inn restaurant and bar is an air conditioned place with good food, especially seafood cooked in Mangalorean style. We had some lovely squid gassi and a off the menu seafood biryani with fish and prawns. Good quantity and good taste too. Good attentive service too.
Abhishek P Samant
best non veg food atleast for me....have been visiting this hotel since last 5 years...never disappointed.....good food...good service.....good ambiance in family section 1st floor....non veg at its best....in love with north indian food

As much as I didn't want to review but I couldn't help but write. No offence against the food that they serve here. Undoubtedly their food is good. But we have been conned not once but twice with regards to the Pricing of certain food items.

My friend and I had gone once before and ordered for butter garlic prawns, we were charged 430/- for it whereas in the menu card it was mentioned as 310/-, on asking the manager he said that he gave us medium sized prawns and hence charged for the size. We were OK with it and paid the bill. Again yesterday we went and ordered butter garlic prawns and specifically asked him to get us regular small sized prawns and he charged us the same ie 430/-. On asking him for an exolaination he gave us a vague reply as to since the prawns were fried in butter so he charged us more and no where in the menu card was the dish mentioned. On asking about the mentioning of the dish on the menu he said they have lot many dishes that are not on the menu. I would have kept quiet until this morning I logged on to Zomato and saw the menu of fountain inn where butter garlic prawns cost hardly 310/-.
If this is how they will thug their customers they are sure to lose many customers. This is a clear case of once bitter twice shy. I repeated my mistake of ordering the same dish again only because I love their food but not to be cheated. I'm sure to think twice before I pay a visit to this place again.
I would suggest that they change their menu and start mentioning all the dishes or not make them at all. I did not want to do this but I was compelled to after seeing the menu card online.
Darshan
Ambience is good with soft music playing continously.
Good for sea food. Appam, neer dosa is great. Service is great. They guide us well.
Try fry items in kerala style.
Wide variety on paper on always available but serves good food.
Smita Sahu
Not a family place to have food..a common place for office crowd to have drinks..the environment is always filled with smokers and drinkers..they take long time in service food is not that great..

Good food and good service makes a great restaurant.
Fountain Inn have good food but service better not to comment.
Had ordered few seafood dishes and neer dosa, they were great.
But big disappoint was prawn's biryani and in that it dish was missing not raita with a biryani was little hard to digest. And when asked about it, reply came as its chargeable.
So overall experience below average.

Well well well.Fountain Inn was the first restaurant bar I visited during my college days.Coming to the point, this place is a hidden gem in the streets of fort.
Food: excellent food, my personal favourite is their Chicken platter and chicken maharaja. Both are good if you there are more then 4 people in your group. Rest of the stuff are good as well.
I feel the AC section is quiet better, because there's will less noise around. The staff is very helpful.
All in all a pretty decent place to enjoy food and drinks.
Do visit this place if you are around fort.

Located in one of the bylanes in fort. Very much near flora fountain. We ordered Surmai gassi (mangalorian style gravy) with neer dosa and appam, some rawas starter. All of it was lip smackingly awesome. Service is great and fast. And most important u must try Solkadi here. Solkadi was perfectly blended and thick unlike many places where u find more of water. First sip gives u a royal kick. For two of us without drinks the bill was 1200 approx. But all worth. And I don't think it is overpriced. Highly recommend.

Walked into this resteraunt one fine afternoon. To begin with the ambience is pretty good. Nice sitting arrangement, instrumental music playing in the background. The customer service was decent. We ordered rawas koliwada for starters with sol kadi. For main course, we had surmai curry and neer dosa and appam. The food was pretty good. Curry and sol kadi is highly recommended. Though i felt the price was a bit high as it costed us rs. 1260/- just for two people. But since the food was good, money doesn't really matter. Mind you, you won't find network over there. But while having good food, i believe you won't wanna be disturbed, right!
I highly recommend this place for fish food lovers..... Cheers.....

Fort has several gems hidden in one of their several lanes and by lanes and this is one of them. Fountain Inn is an eatery serving authentic Mangalorian cuisine, Mughlai and Chinese cuisines as well.

Since had tried several Parsi joints during the last two weeks, thought this place would be good for a change.

Have two floors both air conditioned, somehow the ground floors of restaurants provide you with the genuine feel of the place whereas the first floors are given a different look n feel altogether.

Finally reached after driving 35 kms and decided to sit downstairs, the moment we entered felt we were the cynosure of all eyes, at all tables one could see only men in two’s, three’s and four’s, felt uncomfy for a brief moment and were seated. I couldn’t be bothered with the kind of people around as long as they don’t interfere and the food is good.

I knew what I was going to eat and waited for my better half to decide. No point coming to a place where the fish is good and not having it. I went in for a Surmai tawa fry, now since hubby doesn’t have fish, were going to order a Chicken Tikka Masala but the waiter recommended the Chicken Aftabi, we decided to go with his recommendation. Asked for a plate each of Neer Dosas and Appams.

Since the food was taking time to arrive, went in for a Fried papad one of his favorites, I ordered a Lime juice (mixed). Sipped on the lime juice which was prepared well and waited patiently.

Around 20 minutes later the food arrived;

Surmai Tawa Fry – A generous slice of fresh King fish coated with a paste of green masala and tawa fried, was just perfect, succulent, tasty and not too oily.

Chicken Aftabi – This was the first time we both had tried this dish, it’s a preparation with boiled egg cut into tiny bits and cooked along with the boneless pieces of Chicken in a medium spicy red gravy which was really delectable. It is loaded with protein and fills you up fast.

Neer Dosas – Perfectly thin and well cooked, very yummy, served on a small piece of banana leaf.

Appams – Had these after really long, wow, these too were a delight served on a small piece of banana leaf.

Masala Papad – Another accompaniment preferred by hubby, had a bite was tasty.

Roti – Was a tad bit tough to eat

Chappati – Was a bit stiff, wouldn’t recommend.

This time hubby asked for a Fresh Lime juice (mixed) to wash down the food. Skipped dessert since we were scheduled to go to another place and don’t prefer Ice Creams.

Ambience per say is basic, leave alone for a few pix around the place, basic seating as in Udipi joints, a little too close for comfort. It’s more of a place where people come to enjoy their tipple with tasty food.

Felt really content and satiated. Pricing is a bit on the higher side but the food served was great in quality and portion wise too. Service was prompt.

Will definitely want to visit again.

Recommended for those who enjoy Fish.

The thing I love about fort are the eateries tucked away in the by lanes. Be it a quick lunch with colleagues or a daru session with friends, I have enjoyed this place.
Reco- any of their fish prep OR daal khichdi

This place serves one of the best sea foods. The Surmai fish tandoori and Bombay duck were simply amazing. And also the prawn puli munchi with rice. The tastes and flavors were just too good.

Went to this place on the recommendation of friends. Situated in the bylanes of Fort, it might be slightly difficult to locate.
Had a mixed experience. Some dishes like squids in butter garlic sauce, ravas tikka, mughlai chicken, chicken neer dosa were terrific; with excellent taste, quantity n price!!!
Strangely enough certain other dishes did not match to the standards set by the former dishes . Ambience is good, service friendly n this place makes a good getaway from the madding crowd with its zilch network reception.
Aviral Pundir
One of the finest restaurants in fort, plus the reasonable price. Best thing is phone signal is somehow weak for an undisturbed meal. One of those rarity where both veg and non veg can enjoy.

The food is really vey delicious and so the ambience. Must visit once.

Being a south indian by upbringing with a mix of a Parsi parent, i have always craved fish curry which to this day no one serves better than fountain Inn.

Over the years i have tried multiple combination but have always come back to the prawns fry and south indian curry with roti made from wheat. Nothing beats this combination which has been my staple over the last 10 years.

Unlimited portions of curry (which shouldn't be called gravy) absolutely make my day. Only after i have drunk directly of the curry do i feel like i am home.

Prawns fry with Wheat roti is an absolute must have, the tremendous value for money and amazing taste make this the best place for fish curry in Bombay.

Definitely a must eat joint for those craving a taste of Mangalore

Went here on a weekday for lunch. It has been a family favourite. What Zomato doesnt mention is that they also serve great Mangalorean fare. We tried the Surmai Tawa Fry which was amazing. The piece was big and nicely marinated. The Prawns Sukkha was another amazing dish. The Surmai Fry was good, but I have had better. Also, the oil in it was on the higher side. They also provided Chicken Curry and Fish Curry which we had with the Neer Dosas. The Fish Curry was extra-ordinary. It reminded me of the fish curry made by my grandparents that I had had ages ago. Simply loved it. We also tried the Chicken Tiranga Kebab. It had 3 pieces of Chicken Tikka(the red one), Chicken Mallai Kebab(white) and the Chicken Hariyali Kebab(green). It was okay. But the red one was very salty. Also, the quality of Chicken used wasnt really upto the mark. We then ordered the Jada(thick) Rice along with the Fish curry and a Surmai Rawa Fry. The Jada Rice is also called the 'Kemp(red) Rice' down south. Its fatter than your normal rice and fills you up easily. The Surmai Rawa Fry was very ordinary. Very dry and we didnt really enjoy it as much as the Tawa Fry. We ended the meal with glasses of Solkadi which was again pretty good.

Another of the famous fish joints in Town. Fountain Inn located at the junction of Ballard Estate serves the best of fish. You can feel the freshness of the fish as you enter the restaurant - the crabs or lobsters are kept at the entrance itself.
Ambiance nothing like Mahesh, but the food quality and taste comparable or even better if you compare the prices.
We had the best Tandoori Ravas that one can get in town. That with a glass of beer is ultimate. Then for the main course we had the prawns ghushi ( a Konkani name for curry) with neer dosa. The food was excellent and the service above par.
Ratings :
Ambiance : 3.5/5
Food Qualtity & Taste : 5/5
Service : 4.5/5
Affordability : 4/5
Overall Ratings : 4/5

Good comes in small packages...That's Fountain Inn for you. Have been there about twice recently and loved the sea food out there, be it the prawn ghassi (can't miss that), the delicious pomfret tikka, Bombil fry, even the Mutton sukha is great. The service is v.attentive as well. Can't wait to visit again!

Hi! This is is my first review on zomato and I couldn't wait to write it, not because I'm excited to write my first review (actually I am) but more than that it was the food n the service at this restaurant which made me write this.
The place was suggested by a colleague and we took his suggestion. A restaurant located near American Dry fruit at fountain fort.

Small place..... neat n cleane..... warm n prompt staff..... great service. ... Amazing n delicious food n yes fresh too.

My menu: Crab meat in butter garlic. .. which just melts in your mouth.
Fish tikka. .. smokey n tangy flavoured juicy fish.
Tandoori prawns. ... jumbo sized perfectly cooked prawn.
Soft n tender Neer dosa with konkan style chicken curry. Fresh tasty juicy n tender chicken.

All in all, a very good and highly recommended place for sea food lovers and just food lovers too.

You can take your family along too.

And hello...... They don't have any branches....;)
