Review Izumi - Ramen & Sushi - Mumbai

What an authentic feeling place, and a space of almost tranquility from the hustle and bustle outside. The water features and traditional decor in the entrance area was a great start to the experience and the waiting staff gave a lovely welcome to the spacious, clean and comfortable table. Both the sushi and hot kitchen areas were visible with a separate bar at the rear producing high quality cocktails. It was a shame that there wasn’t any Japanese beer offered, with the only option actually being Thai, but otherwise the range of both food and drinks was extensive. Each of the dishes we ordered was presented beautifully, in particular the selection of sashimi, and the sushi was also prepared to perfection. It would have been nice for the meat skewers to have been tailored according to the size of our group, given the staff were aware we were intending to share, but this was only because it was so tasty! The atmosphere remained relaxing throughout but later in the afternoon the electronic music gave more of a lounge / bar vibe which was equally as pleasant. Overall it was a fantastic afternoon meal and with the good prices and range a decent option for anyone new to the cuisine who wants to try things out. Highly recommended!

If you are a fan of Asian cuisine then this is the place for you 🤩. They have a wide range of Asian food and liquor. They also provide beer and hard liquor 😌✨. The ambience is also very nice. They have a normal table arrangement along with that they have a noodle bar where you can have your food as well 😍.

Well, I definitely recommend reservations here coz even when we called them, they were busy for a Thursday night and the wait time was a good 20 minutes. But it's it worth it, absolutely! We were seated at the bar, we'd ordered 5 pieces of the salmon sashimi, hamachi truffle ponzu, the scallops sushi roll, which was also new on the menu. The tenderloin grilled skewers. The pana cotta for dessert. We got the soba mushroom noodles and the cheese cake to go. Everything was absolutely delightful and we left not a crumb. Omg I have to say I was very very impressed and quite possibly the best meal I've had in Bombay. My absolute favourites was the Hamachi truffle, the skewers and the salmon sashimi. Roshan our server was very sweet and ensured to pack in some extra berry campote. I can't wait to come back and try other stuff.! Bravo to the Team and Thank you.

Warm and cozy ambience. The food was outstanding. Charred Napa cabbage, mushroom gyoza, yakitori king oyster mushroom, pepper garlic veg chirasi, shoyu koji zucchini worth mentioning. Yuzu kazi and Smokey Gnt cocktails too were excellent. Would surely visit again.

Very well organized. Good food, lovely ambiance. Place is busy, so you might have to wait for a few minutes. From doorman to waiter, all staff are courteous. The food is well presented and is a pleasant sight.

Absolutely loved the food at Izumi but was little put off by the service! The ramen is by far the best I’ve had in the city. We tried the shoyu ramen but I’m sure all of them are amazing. The katsu curry was also fantastic and so authentic. We also got 2 sushi rolls which were extremely flavour full and delicious (though I preferred the one with the cheese sauce) While the server was very nice they kept pestering us to leave the table by the given slot even though no one else was waiting for a table. The ramen also took 30-35 min to come so it was very difficult to finish within our given seating but he kept rushing us right after the food had come even though it was a weekday. Will definitely be coming back for the food though

Good place with great vibes. Food and service was pretty good. Just that I found it a bit overpriced , I deducted 1star. Sushi was fresh and yummy. Though quite small in size as compared to what you get at other places and also prawn filling could have been better. Sashmi was my first experience. Raw salmon was absolutely tender and with zero odour. Ramen and rice bowl was delicious too. Portion size is an issue with all the dishes considering the high prices. But worth experiencing.

Izumi is an experience so someone needs to really plan and enjoy this cute little place. If you love authentic Japanese food then it goes without saying, it's must try.

Izumi offers an authentic and delightful Japanese dining experience. The menu boasts a wide array of fresh sushi, sashimi, and flavorful ramen. Each dish is meticulously crafted, showcasing the chef's dedication to quality ingredients. The sushi rolls are a highlight, combining traditional flavors with a modern twist.

At 10pm it felt like sushi. We googled and this is the first name on the list. We landed up there without reservations. The place looked simple and small from outside. They asked if we were okay with sitting at the sushi bar and we didn’t mind. We saw the chefs rolling sushi. They were enjoying what they were doing. The barbecue kitchen seemed a bit small for operation. The delivery staff was friendly and knew the menu well. We ordered California rolls, mushroom gynzo and black sesame ice cream. We received 2 other plates of salmon sushi on the house. The fish for the sushi was fresh, it didn’t have a stench. It had caviar as well. The wasabi is the best I had so far. Mushroom gyanzo came with a nice mix of truffle oil and soy sauce, there was a crunch and freshness to the veggies inside. The sesame ice was the best, with the cookies crumble and sliced caramelised plums.. Over all had a good experience..

Located in a Barlow street this self parking can be a nightmare. But not to worry as Valet is available. I would surely recommend to reserve and go else be rest assured to wait as the restaurant is not very large There is a specific seating beside the live sushi counter which I like but maybe too cramped for few people. The service is quick the staff of super efficient. The food quality and taste is magnificent and that is one of the reason the place is always buzzing ! Try out spicy chicken chirashi served with sticky rice Definitely coming back for more whenever my heart goes out for Japanese or Oriental

Please do visit this place if you like asian food. The food here is really good. However, please do reserve a table in advance even on a weekday as the place is kinda small and too many people come here.

First time eating Japanese food and it didn't disappoint. Nice ambience, great service.

Went on Monday evening, it was bustling with action. Didn't book table but staff was happy to accommodate for an hour. Food quality is one of the best Japanese I had in recent times. Service is okay, ambience is nice.

Probably one of the best Japanese restaurants in town while being reasonably priced which is not what you can say about most of the other good Japanese restaurants in Mumbai. We tried the prawn tempura which was really nice. The salmon sashimi was fresh and the seafood ramen was good too. The dessert was nothing to write home about, not the best but not the worst I've had either. The service was a little slow but not bad or rude and considering it was a slow afternoon it was ok. The ambiance is good for a small Japanese restaurant and you can see the chef's at work but sadly I was sat near the door. All in all a good experience and I would most certainly recommend going here if you are a Japanese food lover like I am or even you are going to try it for the first time.

A small cozy place very well made. Advice you to book the place as they have very few tables. Good location. Gave a good feel of typical Japanese sushi joints. The staff is very good and courtesy. We din enjoy the sushis a lot. We have had much better ones. Goza was really good so were the small plates like tempura vegetables and mushroom thing. Loved the ramen balls. They were insane. Would advice to keep space for them and not order a lot of sushis or small plates. Even the rice bowl that was amazing. We loved the tofu pepper one. Ordered an extra portion of garlic rice along. Will also advice to try the speciality cocktails. I loved their gin based speciality cocktail.

Popped in for a Rivvy Reccie. No reservation on a Tuesday night. Table for 1. No problem. Was sat on the Sushi counter which was great. Got to see a bit of action from the Chefs. Service was a little slow to start with I thought but picked up and was brilliant for the rest of the meal. Ordered a very reasonably priced Pinot Noir and headed straight for some classic Sashimi plates. The freshness of the Hamachi was surprisingly good and the Tuna Tataki was the best I've had in a while. The Chutoro Sashimi was still a little iced in the middle so I let it sit for a while and it was fine. Not the best but it was OK. The Spicy Chutoro Maki definitely didn't have Chutoro in it. An oversight by the Chef perhaps! The new Rock Shrimp and Calamari dish was super crispy and amazing as was the tenderloin Robata. Finished off with the Mango Millefuille which was light and very good. By the time I had paid the bill, around £100 all in, the place was packed, which is testament to it's quality (on a Tuesday night). I thought it was good value for money. I've paid more for less in London. I will be back with the Mrs one day.

My wife loves Izumi and it's the only comfort place she likes to come back to. Their cocktails are unlike any other you get in the city and the food feels uniquely fresh. Ofcourse we enjoy the sashimis, nigiris but I highly recommend their pork belly and Ramen.

Killer Veg Ramen (I preferred it to the Pork! Blasphemy? Hmmm maybe). Everything there is superb. I actually loved the fact that they’re small and that you need to queue up.

Having been an ardent lover of sushi and other Japanese cuisines. I was finding it very expensive to have good and wholesome Japanese meal in bombay. The restaurant that I did go always had that something which was missing. A friend introduced me to Izumi. After a wait of 20 min, my friends and I got a table at the place which was buzzing with happy guests who obviously were loving every dish that was being served on their table.

On the personal front, I would like to say that the wasabi jelly was to die for, the sushi whether its was nigiri or it was sashimi was fresh and the wasabi just right for the Indian pallet. The owner also has a very personal connect with the guest as they approached us and asked if we were doing fine and being looked after, which is a rarity in restaurants in bombay. I would give a 5 star rating to the place and would recommend it all those who love their sushi ramen

Had tried to get a table at this cozy restaurant a month back but didn't have much luck. So when I waltzed in two weeks ago I was super excited. My friend ordered a veg ramen and me the chicken katsu with rice. Both dishes tasted good. Not outstanding like I'd expected. But good. Although I felt the ramen was super spicy, she liked it. What was disappointing was the service after this. We order for a pot of Jasmine tea. We noticed the crowds were coming in by this time. And the guy managing the crowds who I'm guessing was the owner seemed to be getting impatient with us. We were curtly asked whether we wanted to order anything more. We said no. Then a few minutes later we were asked whether we could clear the bill ( while we had just received our pot of HOT Jasmine tea.). Once we paid the bill the pressure to leave seemed to mount. And so I found my self drinking up super hot tea. By the time I walked out I was super mad. If there's a pot of tea on your menu you can't possibly expect your customers to down it like shots! Definitely not coming back to this place.

Well way more smoke than fire this!

Overawed by all the reviews & fanfare - Walked in expecting a Wagamama or closer home ‘The Blue’ kinda experience... only to be greeted by a terse looking gentlemen more worried bout turning tables than greeting customers with a smile...

Once squeezed in, took us quite a while to get the servers’ attention for the menu, water, order, water refill, cutlery refreshment... I mean guys the entire place barely seats 16 customers... shouldn’t be so hard to give them a happy time eh!

So all these frivolities overshadowed our culinary experience comprising of miso clam soup, spicy salmon sushi, chicken teriyaki sushi, an open roll and pork ramen... the food’s definitely a 4/5 and the pork ramen in particular was exceptional with a beautifully flavoured bone broth...

Fix the hospitality guys! That’s the real deal!

I went to Izumi for the first time today with a friend and was joined by my cousin after 30 minutes. My friend and I finished eating and paying for our meal and my cousin and I were about to order some more food when the Owner of the place asked me to leave as there were other guests waiting and they didn’t have space to accommodate them.

I’m shocked and completely appalled by his attitude needless to say I’ll never be going back there

Still in awe of the dining experience i had! 🤩 At 7pm in the evening it was already full to capacity. Yes it is a very small place, max 16 ppl seating capacity- but absolutely worth the wait. I think everything on the menu is worth a try and hence cant recommend any one dish. A nice small and crisp menu - a little bit of everything. The taste of all the dishes served absolutely divine!👏🏼👏🏼 i hope they start delivery services soon.

Amazing food & cozy place

Tuna himachi: small plate of bird chilli dressing on tuna.. refreshing & yumm. Don’t care much for the wasabi jelly though can’t taste wasabi Much.

Salmon sushi half & half: my fav pick at this place.. the sesame seeds & the fish go great together.

Seared salmon 🍣: I love raw nigiri but this was an interesting flavour & completely different in taste & texture. But absolutely delicious

Panko fried prawns with honey wasabi dressing: perfection.. u just crave a drink to go wth this

Open prawn roll: it’s got sticky rice, pickled cucumber, avocado & panko prawns in nori sheet with wasabi mayo.. at the risk of sounding repetitive it’s simply yumm. Quite filling for that small plate of food

Snapper don bowl: snapper with edamame, crispy lotus, sticky rice & carrots. I only felt the proportion of rice was too much in the bowl compared to the fish & sauce.

Chicken miso ramen : it’s nice comforting broth what u expect but it had way too many noodles & not much greens or carrots or scallions So u r left with noodles & broth .

Black sesame ice cream: it’s so rich in flavour & texture & perfect end to a great meal

The staff is courteous& the owner is too sweet . Only be prepared to wait an hour atleast for a table . They are planning to move to a bigger place to address that issue but u will see why ppl wait for more than an hour at 7 pm for their meal!!

Expectations lead to disappointment would be the right phrase to use for my experience at Izumi. After much hype, great feedbacks and closed Thursdays later, I finally managed to get here to try the food.

We ate the spicy prawn sushi which sounded so exciting on the menu, but weren’t so when they arrived. They were just about average.

However, the Tuna Nigiri and Yellowtail Hamachi were pleasing and a delight to have.

Next we called for the Chicken Ramen in spicy Tare.
The noodles were very doughy, leading to a sad after taste. 1/2 and egg and 3 pieces of chicken and few droplets of vegetables isn’t what is expected out of a ramen bowl that’s supposed to make you feel warm and satiated.

Got a feeling that they don’t like to be told on things they can probably improvise on for a better consumer experience.

I’d probably revisit for the nigiri and sashimi but definitely not for the much spoken about ramens here.

Took an hour to get a table but worth the wait! What beautiful Ramen and Sushi! MUST TRY THE MATCHA ICE CREAM AND CHEESECAKE SOOOOOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOOOOD.
Loved the food. Totally get the hype surrounding this place. Wish I didn't have to wait an hour twenty minutes for my table though! The ramen is the best I've had in Bombay and the Sushi was pretty great too. While I'd love to go back, the wait time is pretty scary. Definitely a must if you haven't tried it yet though.

It had been forever since we wanted to visit this tiny new Japanese Pop up in Bandra, and we were not disappointed. We waited for around 30-40 mins before being seated but the service was prompt!
I loved the minimalistic cutlery as well as the sesame garnish and chilli oil garnish available at the table.
We tried all the three veg ramens buty favourite was the Shoyu Ramen followed by Miso Tantanmein.
I freaked on the matcha ice cream too I just couldn't stop.
If you are used to the Indiansed taste this is not the place for you.
A MUST VISIT for Ramen and Sushi Lovers.

We were expecting a long wait but it barely took 5-minutes for a table to be available. We were seated at the sushi bar, and service was prompt. With space for a maximum of fifteen diners, we got there right on time because the line of waiting patrons only got longer. We started with the crowd-favourite Hamachi Truffle Ponzu with Wasabi Jelly - succulent slivers of fish with pops of wasabi, chilli and salty ponzu. The spicy tuna roll was moreish and light at the same time. The pork ramen was delicious with a luscious broth and noodles that still had some bite. Katsu curry rice will always be comfort food to me and this rendition has been added to the list. We finished with a generous scoop of matcha ice cream, the meal costing us 3131₹ inclusive of 5% service charge.

Simply Amazing
Delicious food.
Authentic.
Soul food that just put a huge happy smile on my face.
Mum and I demolished the sushi before I cook take a picture. We ordered the spicy Salmon. Wonderful. And the wasabi is strong . Loved it.

The Ramen was to die for. Such intense flavors. I crave it every other day.

Tuna Salad. Burst of flavour, crisp on the palette. Very refreshing.

Finished it off with a creamy and bitter-sweet Matcha Ice Cream.

My favourite Japanese place hands down.
Love.love.love.

A buzzing place with extremely warm and courteous team. Brilliant Salmon Nigiri with the sushi rice just at the right temperature & seasoning. Its a rarity to find establishments which are meticulous & treat the ingredients with care . The pork Ramen bowls are great , full of flavour and is a full meal by itself ..... Just be patient to get seated and you wont regret having to wait....

Visited Izumi on a Sunday evening, after hearing a lot of hype surrounding the place. It is a pretty small restaurant, so seating takes about 45 minutes. We ordered the spicy pork tonkotsu ramen and a California roll with crabstick toppings & wasabi mayo.
I have to say that the sushi was delicious, a wonderful medley of flavours and the wasabi mayo gave it just the right kick of heat.
The ramen however, was disappointing. There was definitely not enough salt, too much pork fat (as opposed to meat) and an overpowering amount of spinach. Not worth the price paid.

Ambience - 3.5/5

While the decor is minimal and cute, the small tables can make it a bit uncomfortable to eat.

Service - 4.5/5

Sushi doesn't take a lot of time to prepare, so you'd expect it to be served quickly. But even the cooked dishes I ordered were served in under 5 minutes which was just great. I have no complaints about the staff either.

Food - 4/5

I'd advise sticking to their specialties here - the sushi and the ramen.

Philly Smoked Salmon Sushi - This sushi roll was totally worth it. The smoked salmon in it was really yummy.

Seared Sashimi (Half Salmon/Half Tuna) - I first thought there would be equal servings of salmon and tuna. But each piece actually contains a bit of both! This was also really good.

Panko Friend Prawns with Honey Wasabi Sauce - This was a bit of a let-down. While the prawns themselves were fried perfectly and were tasty on their own, the honey wasabi sauce wasn't good.

Pork Tonkotsu Ramen (with spicy tare) - This hot bowl of ramen is just perfect for the winter. The broth was full of flavour that each of the individual solid components were also imbued with. The pork belly was just tender enough. The egg, the seaweed, and the mushrooms all served to provide different textures and flavours.

Black Sesame Ice cream - As far as ice creams go, this one's definitely different. While it's not a flavour I would routinely pick, it was definitely worth trying.

Value for money - 3.5/5

Eating here is a little heavy on the pocket.

Score - 3.9/5

Great place for sushi. Small 12 seater restaurant but with fantastic food. We waited for only 40 min even though it's so small and had lot of people waiting.
Definitely try the sashimi salad and the melon soda. Everything I ate was great but these two are my favourite
Pushaan
Izumi... Is yummy!
The best California Roll in Mumbai. The best Miso soup. Delectable pork. A wonderful host who suggests some truly tasty food.
Missed their legendary cheesecake this time but even the black sesame ice cream is worth trying (in the photo).
The space is a bit small but I hear they are relocating soon to somewhere bigger... Here's hoping Izumi stays yummy.

This is little gem off Carter Road! It’s small place.. and hence be prepared to wait. I loved their sushi... more so because they had an option of using soy paper instead of nori( sea weed) . We tried the crispy edamame sushi... and it was yummy!!! We had the Panko fired chicken and ramen.. not reminded me of my trip to Japan a couple of years back! The cheese cake was the only thing that could have been better! I would go with a rating of 4.5/5.

izumi is like finding a needle, a very tasty needle in the haystack of "fine dining pan Asian" restaurants. it's a cozy sushi and ramen place in bandra, a pro tip would be to reach 30 minutes before your lunch time since you will find that much waiting time to get a table.

Their food menu has simple, elegant and delicious choices. My favorite sushi was the seared salmon nigiri, the salmon just melted in my mouth. The pumpkin open roll in the vegetarian section is also delicious, expertly crafted and very aesthetic to look at and for your Instagram pictures. The chicken katsu with rice and Curry is one of my favorite mains, the chicken is fried perfectly and the curry is delicious (it reminded me of dhansak, the parsi curry). We also tried the pork ramen, which was just food for the soul, warm and comfortable. The pork was tender and the chicken stock was delicious. Although it would have been really nice if they put some crispy pork on the top. Finally the desert, we tried the Japanese cheese cake which in my opinion is the best cheese cake I've ever had in Bombay, it was soft and Creamy yet so light, it's really worth a try.

The restaurant is a little expensive, but cost wise it's on par with so many pan Asian restaurants in the city and taste wise it is better than most of them. So definitely worth a visit.

We Went here expecting a first class Japanese meal and some good hospitality as well. We waited close to an hour prior to being seated. The space was very cramped. We started off with five Sushi dishes and a Salad, followed by four bowls of Ramen and then three desserts. The food was alright, nothing to write home about, have definitely had better sushi before. The noodles in the Ramen tasted pasty and undercooked, pretty unimpressive. The cheesecake was decent. I can always live with average food provided the hospitality is good, which this restaurant completely lacks. The server seemed uninterested, didn’t have any recommendations. To top it off since we ordered so much food there is only so much you can eat in a given period of time. When we had ordered the ramen, the server looked at us weird, almost as though he didn’t want us to order anymore and leave. When we called for dessert the host was looking at us in a very disapproving manner with a disgusted expression on her face, ranting that it’s so busy and intimating that we needed to get out of there. We hadn’t even finished our food or the dessert when this sort of behavior started surfacing and it was repeated a few times. It’s very unfortunate that people today don’t understand the importance of providing the right experience along with a meal, hype just doesn’t do it for me. I definitely won’t be going here again or recommending this place to my friends.

I managed to visit this twice in a week and that sure is one way to ensure that quality is on point and the delivery was straight fire. what I mean to say, this place is a must try 👌🏽

Some of my favorite items on the menus. Also everyone has to wait so make sure the person you are going with is good company so the long outside can be as much fun as possible. Don’t go to hungry.

- Tune Zuke
- hamachi with truffle ponzu
- Nigiri sample platter
- all the sashimi

Until next time. Thanks for great quality of food. Best of luck to the team 🙏🏽

Ambiance is okay

Pricing is average. Service is average,.

Food : Tried the philly avacado sushi. Its okay overall in terms of taste. Presentation of the dishes is good.

I love ramen in all forms and through ever slurp! Izumi offers some lovely and deliciously flavoured ramen goodness. I had the chicken paitan which was a delight and the sushi was good too.

The wait timings are terrible and the restaurant needs to address this desperately. Also while waiting the staff appears rather frustrated and I felt unwelcomed. This was a real downer regardless of how good the food was.

Lovely quaint little sushi joint tucked away in Bandra’s Perry Cross Road. If you are a sushi or ramen person this is a jewel amongst the several sushi joints in the city. The wait for the table is absolutely worth it because it’s the taste that is mind blowing. The menu offered a vast choice of Sushi’s both veg and non veg and each of them had an unique taste. The fish too was supremely fresh and the people serving us were very polite. Amazing experience and I would highly recommend Izumi. It’s worth money and I’m not specifically recommending a single dish because you won’t be disappointed with any they are all delicious.

Ufff!! This place has some seriously great food, and great produce. Fresh, light and delicious.
And the ramen is way better than my last tried one at Ippudo in NYC which is 1 Michelin BTW.
Quaint place that adds to the charm the wait almost teasing your appetite!! Worth every second.
Definitely try the pan seared salmon sashimi, and the yellow fin tuna with crispy leek.
❤️❤️❤️

A hole in the wall kinda space opened up by clearly passionate people. You can tell because they’ve put together a wonderful menu with fresh, great quality ingredients. Having said that, the waiting experience wasn’t great. I understand that it’s really good and really small, but the waiting experience doesn’t necessarily have to be unpleasant. And it was. Our group of three was not really acknowledged for the first 10 minutes - our names were written down and there was no ‘guarantee’ of when we’d get a table. There would be no callbacks if you left the cramped waiting area. We finally managed to get a table after an hour and 15 minutes and had it not been for the lovely food, this rating would definitely be lower. Had the open salmon roll (delicious) and the Chirashi Fish bowl (tad spicy but flavours were good). What truly made it worth the visit was the Black Sesame Ice-cream. It may not be for everyone but it was definitely the highlight for me with just the right sweetness and the sesame flavour incorporated in a really special way. Be ready for a lesson in patience when you go here but come away with great food memories.

When my friends who know food, recommend a place, and say they know I will like it, I follow the Google crumbs. Izumi is a cute little sushi and ramen place in a quiet lane off Carter Road in Bandra. Run by Nooresha Kably, this tiny little cube of Japan serves the most flavourful food I have had in some time. The small plates are small works of art, for the palate and for the eyes. My dinner tonight - Half Salmon Half Tuna Seared Sashimi, an assorted platter of Nigiri, Hamachi Truffle Ponzu with Wasabi Jelly and rounding it all off with a scoop of Black Sesame Ice Cream. Accompanied by a pot of Jasmine Tea. I am unable to add adjectives against each dish because they were all incredible - flavourful, true in nature and the right portion sizes. If you like Japanese food, I recommend this place strongly.
p.s: I was lucky to find a place immediately because I walked in quiet early in the evening and I was looking for a table for one. I have heard the wait time is usually 1 hour. .

Appetisers: Sushi (regular & tempura) - Very good. Try the platter first to get a feel of their food. Regular sushi was really good. Tempura sushi with avocado felt like a post-modern, hipster nonsense.

Main Course: Ramen was the best part of the meal. Very satisfying. We had tried Tonkotsu Pork Ramen.

Desserts: Black sesame ice cream is alright. Try the matcha ice cream only if you are absolutely sure about matcha flavour. Personally, I didn’t feel like the ice creams were at the same level as the rest of the food.

Awesome and fresh. Had to say one of the best places for sushi. Its super fresh. The ramen was very delicious. But I'm defo gonna try the desserts next time.

Went here on a single date and treated myself to the best California roll in Bombay so far. The ambience and the little sushi bar just makes the whole experience so Japanese. It was just incredible! I also had the curry ramen and matcha ice-cream and I was let speechless by the quality. Absolutely worth going here - even if you’re alone.

One of the most authentic Japanese Restaurants, I have personally been to. The interiors and the decor add to the soothing and relaxing nature of this place. The menu has a lot of items to choose from ,and you can pick any item and relish the true and authentic Japanese meal.
Worth every second spent at this place.

This was my first experience in a Japanese restaurant and it was Epic! . Being a huge anime fan, I was always dreamed of eating Ramen like Naruto and Gintoki and finally I got a chance.
We went to the place which is in Carter road. My friend had warned me that there is a lot of waiting for the place and it turned out to be right because we had to wait around an hour to get seats. The place is kinda small having around 3-4 tables and food bar coupled with a live sushi counter.
So we ordered the Veg Miso Tantanmein Ramen and Chia pink berry Lemon soda for a start.

The soda was great with basil seeds and cucumber in it. The ramen arrived in a little while and I got to eat it with Chopsticks! It was an awesome experience and even though it wasn't aesthetically that good looking (I don't really blame anyone. Ramen and sushi are not originally veg dishes anyway), the taste was awesome and the number of ingredients kept increasing with each bite. The spinach, nori, bamboo shoots, garlic fries and black fungus blended well with the soup creating an appetizing meal.

We then ordered the Panko fried veg with spicy mayo and it was also well made. It had deep friend veggies and had the right amount of oil.

I finished the Ramen Naruto-style drinking the entire soup in one go directly from the bowl thus completing a legendary Ramen experience .

For the dessert, we ordered a Matcha ice cream which was served with a lemon on the side. The taste of the ice cream was good and it finished off the amazing meal.

The staff was always helpful and even the owner was ready to help whenever we needed ! The ambience of the place was great.

Long story short : It is a bit expensive place and you will have to wait for a while ( no reservations) BUT I can assure you it will be worth it.

Also I saw the non veg ramen and it looked heavenly. Just like in the anime.

Food - 5/5
Ambience - 4.5/5
Service - 5/5

Awesome food! Try out the crispy crab stick sashimi salad and the pork ramen. Just divine! The best in India!!!
The wait is quite long especially if your more than 2..but totally worth it.

Fresh good quality cuts of Sashimi and delicious sushi. They have excellent Ramen too. Have visited a number of times and was never disappointed. Ordered a plethora of different dishes will update the names for them soon. The place is rather cozy and only open for dinner so there is usually a wait.

Top 5 in my recommended list for best sushi places in Mumbai. Super affordable prices and great portion sizes. It’s love everything on their menu, only wish the place was bigger.

This tiny little eatery in Bandra does absolutely smashing Japanese food!

Trying to get a table here on a Saturday night was very ambitious of us but we did the drill - put our names down early went back 45 mins later only to wait another 30mins but it was totally worth the wait!

We were a table of 4.
We had the Matcha yuzu iced tea which was perfectly sweetened, don't expect it to be very sweet which is what I particularly loved about the drink.

1. Hamachi - tiny portion but BIG on flavour, we all dug into this and unanimously agreed that we needed one more portion at our table. The fish is perfectly sliced with a brilliant dressing and hot spicy sliced red chilli.
2. Sashimi Salad with crispy crabsticks - DO NOT MISS THIS. This salad comes with the most mouth watering dressing I've had in a while, we all wanted to get one more but we'd already ordered a second Hamachi and a lot of other food. The crispy crabsticks on top of the salad are delicious.
3. Spicy Salmon Sushi - 5 on 5
4. Prawn tempura sushi with yuzu mayo which was great too but I would opt to get something more interesting with fish instead of this.
5. Pork Tonkotsu Ramen and Chicken miso ramen were good but not extraordinary. I'd stick to the sushi and salad at Izumi. That being said, the people who ordered the ramen were very pleased.
6. Black seasame ice cream - we were skeptical while ordering this but we got one for the table. Everyone loved it. It was creamy, home made ice cream with a distinctive peanut flavour.
Cannot wait to go back to Izumi. They really made our Saturday night spectacular! Thanks guys! All the best.

Price wise expect to pay kofuku prices for much better food. No alcohol served, sake or Soju or just a chilled beer on the side with this meal would have been amazing.
Had lunch at the much talked about Izumi, this afternoon. Very small restaurant and always full so get there early. Ordered the Salmon Nigiri,Philly spicy crabstick, tempura prawn followed by the pork Ramen. What a fantastic mouth watery meal. Full marks for all dishes. The best Ramen you could have in Mumbai. The tempura prawns and philly were also excellent. Dessert was their famous sesame seed ice cream which also lived up to expectations. Great service. Wound definitely go back.

Perry cross road is one of my favourite little streets in Bandra with so much to look around and enjoy. Old bungalows, trees, clean modern roads and lovely little cafes, boutiques, and restaurants on the sides.
The new proud addition there is Izumi @izumibandra , a Japanese restaurant which captures not only the essense of Japanese cuisine but also the unambiguous dining style. Get there as soon as possible and enjoy a small line, chit chatting with everyone waiting excitedly to enjoy the Izumi experience.
We were seated at the sushi bar witnessing how skilfully each dish was being carefully and passionately crafted.
We tried their Sushi and Ramen with a couple of beverages and dessert. ▪️Unagi nigiri 🍣 - Eel being a delicacy not easily available at other sushi restaurant here ▪️ Spicy tuna maki -My favourite with a little bit of crunch, a pop of flavours and lingering after-taste ▪️ Salmon avocado maki - the perfect blend of happy fats ▪️ Harusame salad with crab stick - a cold salad with right amount of dressing, fresh leaves, Crabstick, Mushrooms, Noodles and fried lotus stem ▪️ Pork ramen - the best broth that I’ve had ever. Ramen is a must try with various components all done to perfection. This is the comfort food you feel like returning to soon ▪️ Yuzu ice tea - always up for anything green and lemony
▪️ Japanese pot tea - soothing jasmine tea to start with ▪️ Japanese cheese cake - softest cheesiest dessert with an after taste that will keep you thinking about the awesome lunch you had

Parking - Available on the street
Seating - 18-20 max
A slight wait time of 10 mins expected
Authentic Japanese sushi and ramen. Open sushi bar

Overall taste: 4/5 ( something was missing in nigiri 🍣 may be that’s why I deducted 1 rating)
Ambience: 3/5 ( max 17-18 pax can be accommodated at one time, a small place)
Portions of food : 4/5
Service: 4/5 ( there can be waiting of approx 1 hour)
Average meal 🥘 for two : INR 2500/- ( without alcohol 🍷, yes it is expensive, as this is a exclusive Japanese eatery)
Value for money 💰: 4/5

Must try: Veg/non-veg ramen 🍜 ( as that is what they are known for) , green tea 🍵 pudding is really refreshing.

The food was nice, yummy and delicious
I loved the sesame ice cream it pretty
The only thing that I will disagree to the restaurant is that the place
It was too small to fit my whole family inn

Excellent place for Sushis and Ramen. Very authentic with friendly service. Extremely well priced for the quality offered. I think they have hit my sweet spot and I will certainly visit for my weekly dose of sushi. They have a lot of vegetarian options.

Only con: Space being limited they only offer tables on first come first served basis.

Finally I managed to get a table here, I requested the owner to acccomdate us and to my delight he did. I have been wanting to try their food for a while but never before managed to get a table as they are always sold out. The place is small, it has cute interiors, the space is utilised very well that’s a plus. We tried there prawn tempura sushi we really liked it. The yummiest was their panko fried prawns, it was simply delicious. The Katsu chicken curry was nice too. I am not a Ramen person so I wouldn’t comment on that. The matcha iced tea had a unique and pleasing taste. My favourite was their sesame ice cream, as for ginger lovers try their other option which is cream and fruit based

Finally dropped in for lunch today to Izumi, and it was totally worth it. Tried the Tsukemein Ramen today with in chicken and I really loved it. The broth was bursting with flavours and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Was very lucky that my friend and I didn’t have to wait at all to get a table. Going back there soon for sushi, I’m sure that’ll be amazing too!

Unless, you're ready to reach sharp at 1pm or 6pm, be ready to wait a good 20-30 minutes for a table here. That's what I love about Bandra, if the bigger ones are always packed, the smaller ones are but obviously going to be, especially if they serve something you don't usually get to eat. Had been wanting to try Izumi for a while now, and finally did last weekend.
This Ramen and Sushi Japanese food joint is tucked away in the bylanes of carter road. People rushing in and parcels rushing out is an everyday phenomenal here.

This tiny establishment is run by Chef Nooresha who happens to check every dish and sometimes graciously even serves them. They have a decent selection of Veg and Non Vegetarian Sushi and for the first time ever, a vegeterian one has won my heart.
The Philly Avocado and Cucumber Maki Roll is an absolute delight and wins over with this crispy tempura flakes. The Spicy salmon one wasn't bad either.
Those Chirashi Don Bowls are Lip Smacking Good! The Teriyaki and The Spicy Chicken ones - served with Crispy Lotus Roots, Carrots and Edamame. Trust me that spicy chicken one is worth all the wait.
Personally didn't like the Pork Ramen much as I felt like it was lacking that hit. Despite adding some seasoning, the Ramen didn't work for me.
Both the Lemon Panko Fried Chicken with spicy Mayo and Panko Fried Prawn with Honey Wasabi are an absolute crunchy Delight.
The cheesecake looked phenomenal but we were too full to try it, so maybe next time I get go back for those Chirashi Bowls.

We were dreading the 'long waiting time' that was widely acknowledged for this place but we got a table almost immediately. Which worked out well, since we were starving.
Very tidy and busy place with great food and quick service. Once you go in there you get the authentic feel of a busy Japanese street, bustling with energy. Absolutely must try their black sesame ice cream. It did have ice crystals in them but they were bursting with the sesame flavor.
Good ramens, perfectly seasoned. After a hot comforting bowl of ramen shared between the two of us, we were too full to try anything else.
Lokesh Sambhwani
Horrible horrible manager! Have no sense of talking and is extremely rude . Thinks no end of his restaurant and has no hospitality manners !
Robica Chaudhuri
Had to wait for over an hour for a table but it was worth the wait.

We called for:

1.Tempura Prawn Sushi Roll : was perfectly balanced and the crunch of the tempura prawn added a great texture to the sushi.

2.Half Tuna and Half Salmon Sashimi (Seared) : was the highlight and my personal favourite. I’ve never been a fan of Sashimi but this one was outstanding ! This is a MUST try.

3. Spicy Chicken Ramen : was the table’s favourite out of the two Ramens we ordered. It wasn’t “Spicy” but it was well balanced with a delicious broth. Highly recommend this one.

4. Miso Chicken Ramen : was delicious too. Was on the milder , slightly sweetish side.

Definitely coming back to try the other dishes on the menu.
Fabulous ramen. Exactly like the authentic ramen in Singapore. Loved the nigiri sushi too, though we were slightly disappointed by the prawn piece. But highly recommended all in all.

Ambience: Small but cute,, gives a very cozy homey vibe ,, also well designed
Food : I’ve eaten better sushi ,, but apparently the place is know for their ramen 🍜 which unfortunately we didn’t eat
Service: Although we waited for almost an hour for a table (takes a while coz the place can accommodate only that many people at one go) ,, the service was pretty quick
Staff: Very friendly
Priced: Well i think priced along the lines of other sushi restaurants , i would say decently priced !
*Only drawback I thought is that since the place is so small & the tables so close ,, it does get noisy after sometime
*Will definitely go back for their Ramen

Perfect to the expectations. My first time trying the sashimi and absolutely loved it. We only had sushi and sashimi, have to visit again for their ramen!

Words cannot begin to express the joy of that first bite of philly salmon sushi! It was sheer bliss!
The new Japanese offering by the forces behind sushi koi have really nailed it with this new place. Right from the decor to the food, everything is perfect. The ramen bowl which was so talked about however was a bit of a let down. The noodles were really really over cooked which ruined the experience for us honestly. The chashu in the ramen though was excellent and the broth was so so. The sesame ice cream was excellent, with a perfect balance of sweet and sesame flavor. the pink drink (forgot the name) was crisp and refreshing.
Over all absolutely loved the experience here and will definitely be going back for the sushi! Hope they start some donburri as well.
One major major issue is the lack of seating though. The line to get in can get really long and you might end up sharing your table space with someone.

I had been wanting to come here since long, and went there today for an early dinner. This place didn't disappoint and more so the reviews- they were accurate to the T.
This is what we ordered:
Vegan shoyu ramen - 5/5 (what heavenly flavours)
Avocado and edamame crunchy sushi - 5/5
Harusame salad(lotus root❤️❤️) and the the glass noodles are to die for- i could have had little less sweetness in it though - 4/5
Chicken ramen - it was creamy and mild but good with additional miso - 4/5
Black sesame ice cream - found it a little sweet for my liking and oh! there were frosts in it. But the exoticness kind of compensated. - 4/5
The hosts personalised the experience for us and graciously accepted our request to not be seated at the bar(this place is popular! 🗣) we were lucky enough to reach at 6.10 and grab an early dinner with little less people. Overall value for money for the delectable food experience provided. Totally recommend it.
Janki
Really enjoyed the food. The waiting time is half - 1 hr. I am a vegetarian and there is enough choice for vegetarians. Must try - Matcha Ice tea, Miso Tantamein (Ramen), Veg Harusame Salad, most Sushis are really good and the Seasame Icecream
Food - 4.5
Ambience - 4
Service - 4.5
Pricing - 4
Portion - 4.5

Finally, got a chance to visit this little yet lovely place! The wait was fully worth it.. The sashimi and the himachi with the wasabi jelly was absolutely delish! Definitely my top pick, followed by the sushi and that crab Stick salad- The flavours were definitely fireworks in my mouth! A must visit..

Excellent, light, fresh Japanese food. There is a wide variety, but the quality and quantity is consistently impressive. The chicken broth ramen is a must have - nourishes from the soul 🙂

If you are looking for a ramen eatery , you wouldnt have to go too far. Nestled in a by lane , off carter road, next to El Mercado and taking the shine and crowd away from El Mercado , Izumi is a must visit if you are craving for a good bowl of ramen or shushi or sashimi !

The place is packed all week, I say this coz I was there on a monday night for dinner and the only reason we managed a spot was because we were early ! By the time we were through and exited the place around 9 :30 ish at night there were atleast as many waiting outside as they were seated inside

So try and get their early if you can or simply wait !

But the wait is well worth it ! Another important tip - keep space for dessert coz their inhouse ice cream - black sesame seed is excellent

Coming to the food - we ordered the salmon avocado sushi and sashimi salad with crab stick ! If you are little bored of shushi like I was that night do try the salad which was excellent !

Miso ramen with noodles - while I have had ramen noodles earlier , I had not tasted miso broth , this dish although prepared well did not go down well essentially due to the miso broth ! Hence if you do not have an acquired taste for it , stay away !

The owner graciously waived this off the bill and we landed up having sticky rice with chicken and ramen broth - a much safer option especially if you are rice eater !
Cereno Simoes
Great sushi and Shashimi. The ramen was also very good but was slightly disappointed with the quality of the noodles, but overall very good food. Giving 4 stars because unfortunately the owner is not helpful and not friendly at all. He needs to chill or let someone else manage the place.

The hunt for a good bowl of Ramen in Mumbai ends here. A perfect balance in flavours. Deep, rich and multi-layered broth with noodles that have a slight bite and lovely addition of those little bits of goodies make the ramen a delight to have. Surely coming back for more !!!

This place is situated in Carter road serves tastiest Japanese food in town, the interiors are average. The staff and place is super amazing. Table booking is always recommended.

We waited an hour but worth every minute... We ordered 14 dishes between 3 of us out of that two were 8/10 nine were 10/10 and three dishes namely the tuna salmon and yellowtail small plates were 12/10... Fantastic clean food.... Was extremely satisfying... Will def go back...

We tried Izumi about hearing lots about it. I was on the lookout for half decent ramen in Mumbai and the spicy tonkotsu ramen broth did not disappoint. Note that it took us over 100 minutes from the time we showed up at around 7:30 pm on Saturday hoping to beat the rush, got our table at around 9 pm and the actual food showed up around 9:15 pm. The owners are cognizant of this and were courteous throughout the process. Good Japanese fare but the wait can be a deterrent. I will try to find “non peak” hours next time I visit there.
Unpopular opinion!! Went to eat dinner at Izumi with 2 friends this week. TLDR: the +1 hour wait, crappy service & average food definitely don’t make this place worth it. I’m never going back.

Long story: We got there at around 7:30pm and had to wait over an hour to be seated!! If you’re going to go here: go with 1 other person. The host seated a couple before us that came after us because they only had place for 2 people.

Anyway, we decided to wait because we heard the food is great. After close to 80 minutes of waiting, we’re finally seated. They’re definitely over staffed for the tiny space they have yet not one person served us water. For the rest of the night we had to ask many times to be served our beverages.

We ordered the yellow tuna & salmon sashimi which was a mistake. The yellow tuna was frozen — the ice was literally melting in my mouth. The salmon was chewy & definitely old.

We ordered the pork ramen, big sushi roll, spicy salmon sushi and the open salmon roll. We also ordered the jasmine tea that came in a tiny pot that barely had 3 full glasses worth of tea in it.

Any place that serves imitation crab stick in their sushi is a no-go for me so we asked them to replace the crab stick with salmon on the big sushi roll but they didn’t do that. The roll came warm too - which was weird.

The ramen was ok - similar to ramen anywhere else in Bombay.

The spicy salmon role was the only saving grace. But not good enough to make me want to go back.
The closest you can get to the quintessential Japanese experience in the city. Not the fancy over hyped ‘sushi place’, instead one of the many small Washoku eateries you find in the by lanes of Tokyo. There are just about 3 tables and some sushi bar seats so you must be prepared to wait... We waited an hour and I cannot stress on how much it was worth the wait.
What we ordered - California Veg, Asparagus and Avocado, Spicy Tuna Roll and the Spicy Chicken rice bowl. Green tea panacotta, Black Seseme Icecream, Black Seseme Icecream and Black Seseme Icecream!!
What we liked - Everything!!
What we’d go back for - everything else on the menu.
Anil and Nooresha are the perfect hosts and Izumi is just the place Bandra was missing all this while!!
Sameer Kulkarni
Amazing food! Owners are super friendly, soft spoken and go out of the way to make you comfortable. Since the place is small, the wait is quite a bit but once your order is on the table, am sure you would forget everything! Their black sesame ice cream is to die for! Can't wait to go there again, soon! Well done guys! Cheers!

The owner Nooresha Kably ( who also runs Sushi Koi) got this one just bang on. Izumi is a quaint little place located in a small lane in Pali Hill. This month old Japanese restaurant serves Sushi and Ramen has a very friendly and polite staff. We had to wait for 1.5 hour but it was worth it. Everything we ordered was delicious and of excellent quality.
My favourite pick is their Spicy Salmon Roll and Himachi Yellowtail Sashimi. Also you must try their Japanese milk pudding topped with seasonal fruits❤️
Ambience- 5/5
Service- 4/5
Food- 5/5

The Ramen is a blessing!
Batter fried prawns with wasabi are beautiful. Everything I’ve tried so far has been spot on.
Can’t make reservations so you’ve always got to wait for a table; worth the trouble though.
Ashutosh Thatte
I may not be the most informed person to review Japanese cuisine but I thought I must pen in a few lines about the experience. The food was amazing! Absolutely no qualms about that. They boast of fresh ingredients sourced direct from Japan and from what we ate, I think they're spot on!

However, like I said earlier, this review isn't a critique about the food but about the experience. After hearing a lot of good things about Izumi, my wife and I decided to go there last Sunday for lunch. We reached the restaurant around 12:30 pm and were luckily the second couple to arrive there so we got a table as soon as they opened their doors at 1:00 pm. The place is tiny. Quaint, but tiny. We were made to sit on the bar tables which is kinda cozy and its like having a window seat cause you can see what the Sushi/Sashimi chefs are doing! There were a lot of people that turned up post 1 and I think the management was a bit flustered. Waiters were getting the orders wrong/ not taking down orders correctly. We even got our orders out of sequence. In general, a little chaotic. Because there were so many people waiting and constantly checking availability, we felt pressured to eat our meal quickly. Its like when you are sitting at a food-court thats full and you have other hungry people with trays of food waiting for someone to vacate the table! I loved the food, but couldn't savor it. I also think their staff needs a little more training on basics of service, order taking and more understanding of the cuisine in itself. Our server couldn't even pronounce what we ordered! If I may add one small criticism about the food, our Spicy tuna sushi, the tuna itself was not completely thawed. There were bits that were icy and I dont think thats how its supposed to be! I'd be a little careful when serving anything raw in that form.

I think there is a dearth of good Japanese food in Mumbai and what these guys are serving is wicked but personally, experience also makes a huge difference. My only suggestion to the management is, try and take pre-orders and bookings. If you operate from 1-3 and 7-10:30, you can actually take reservations the previous day in slots of 30 mins or so and to make it easier, take pre-orders of what they'd like to eat. It makes it easier even from an operations POV. But hey, again, thats just my perspective. Im not here to preach!

All in all, lovely food but so-so experience.
Ahuti
The sushi and ramen here was outstanding! Definitely justifying the wait. The chef here had done an amazing job. And the man running the front of the house is so kind and welcoming. Would recommend the avocado and cucumber sushi and the salmon sushi!

What a wonderful experience at Izumi. I have to admit waiting for 2 hours for a table can get frustrating, but once you bite into the first piece of food you’re served, it’s all uphill from there! We reached at 8:30pm and got a table around 10:30-10:40pm; I would recommend going earlier and trying. Reservations don’t work here.

The interiors and design are very Japanese, clean, crisp and well lit like you would want it to be. The staff is extremely friendly and the management is wonderful!

We ate a vegetarian meal at Izumi because we had heard good reviews about the Vegan ramens! We ordered the matcha yuzu and the pink soda pop. Both were refreshing and delicious! We had the edamame crispy sushi which was very fresh and full of crunch, a well prepared balanced veg sushi. At inr 490, 8 large pieces are pretty damn good in Bombay!

We had the Vegan Shoyu Ramen- Spicy and the Veg Miso Ramen- Regular. The spicy vegan ramen was divine! So so good, balanced - not over spicy nor unidimensional. The veg ramen on the other hand, got a little boring to eat. We kept swapping between our ramens so our palate was refreshed from time to time and it’s a great thing to do. Creamy miso and spicy shoyu in intervals.

The black sesame ice cream was a bit icy but the flavors were bang on! The pudding (forgot the name) was creamy and refreshing! Best way to end such a satisfying meal! Loved the experience, will come back for the non veggie stuff on the menu soon!
Manpreet Arshi
Horrible system of taking bookings. 2.15+ hrs waiting. Poor client management. No place, no courtesy to offer some water / refreshments (we had to ask for water). A reservation system would be better. Don't think any food would be worth it this much waiting.
Stefanie Fernandes
Amazing! From the moment we walked in till we left. Yes, we did have to wait for a while for a table, mainly because we were a large group and they were so busy! But that's only a sign of good things to come 😊. We live around the corner so had a glass or 2 of wine and came back when they called us. The sushi and sashimi was fresh and delicious, well seasoned and prepared..the best I've had and the ramen was to die for, that pork broth was heaven! For the vegetarians, their veg sushi was just as great. Recommendations from the staff and the owners (who are so hands on) were stop on! We ended with their black seasame ice cream and something resembling a pannacotta, both delicious! We will definitely we back..

Easily some of the best ramen Bombay has to offer..(highly recommend the spicy tare,curry,miso).. Hamachi Truffle Ponzu with wasabi jelly is by all means the best dish I’ve had so far this 2018... hit that kief you been saving up cause these yo are some 🔥 munchies 👽👽👽
Prashant Tandon
By far the best Japanese restaurant in Mumbai for us! Small restaurant, friendly staff and polite chef who came and visited us more than once and especially prepared veg dishes. Lot of variety (including veg).

Thank God for small mercies especially this one. It's a prayer answered for Japo food lovers at a price that does not zap you to Tokyo - though the taste of produce may make you feel you are already there. Yikes! Now you will go there too and make it harder for me to get a table.
Siddharth Gauba
Bottom line: avoid this place and instead go to any of the others that offer similar or better food but greet and serve you with a smile

Pros
Good vibe and well appointed interiors
Decent sushi, good ramen

Cons
Service and attitude: quite rude and off-putting. From enquiry regarding availability, to seat selection and ordering.

Ordering: We decided to order items one by one, and the head server / owner who took the order remarked snarkily when told that we will start with one sushi roll. Have not faced such attitude from even the fanciest restaurants in India or abroad.

Seating: Even though there were multiple options available when we entered, we were told quite dictatorially to sit in one particular place
Karan Suri
A nice little place for good sushi in bandra. Be ready to wait for half an hr at least because the place gets very busy but it’s definitely worth the wait :) good maki and sashimi. Must try their black sesame ice cream

This new Japanese offering, tucked into a leafy corner just off Pali Hill and Carter Road, offers amazing and authentic Japanese food. We walked into a welcoming space, Japanese in style and learnt that the new eatery is presently doing only dinner service.

We went to try out the ramen but we couldn’t miss our favourite sushi. The food arrived fast and was delicious. We customised our ramen bowls – the husband had his low carb – with veggies in place of noodles. As usual the sushi was great. Don’t miss the salads, they’re crisp and light!

Here’s what we ate:

Hamachi Truffle Ponzu with Wasabi Jelly

Seared Sashimi

Harusame salad

Ramen – (we had the Spicy Tonkatsu Ramen, outstanding, a filling large bowl)

Green Tea Malabi

Ensure you keep some space for the very unique desserts like we did.

Izumi is helmed by Japanese cuisine expert, Nooresha Kably, the owner of Sushi koi, which has provided fresh and delicious sushi to its fans for some years. Her love for Japanese food, and her taste for “real” food eaten by locals, led her to visit Japan often where she learnt the art of Ramen from the experts. Her expertise and knowledge are reflected in the food!

Good food, good service and a welcoming ambiance.

Tucked away in a small by-lane off Carter Road, Izumi is a tiny 15 seater restaurant where, if you go during the busy hours, you might have to wait anywhere between 30 - 60 minutes.

The wait though, is totally worth it. My friend and I were happy to share our table with anyone else provided we got to be seated earlier and we ended up having the company of 2 other lovely people who were willing to let us share their food, only so that we could try more stuff.

We shared a portion of the Ramen (highly recommended since the portion is rather large) and 1 portion of sushi and another portion of the assorted nigiri.

Absolutely everything that we ate was incredible and the seafood was fresh. Definitely going back here!
Chelsea Dior Das
Best Japanese food in town! Right from the decor to the ambience - a wonderful little place to enjoy quality food. It is quite tiny, but definitely worth the wait. The Sushi is heavenly, and the sashimi is the best I've tasted. Love love love. 5 stars is the bare minimum!
Nikhilalves19
Had an absolutely amazing authentic Japanese experience at Izumi. The Hamachi is to die for. Plus the ramen and sushi are top notch, really tasty and super fresh. The restaurant is really quaint and cozy and is buzzing with hungry foodies from the minute it opens. The staff is very friendly and extremely helpful
Owen Roncon
Best food ever, the ramen is to die for, the sushi is the best to eat, and to see, please go, it’s a small place, but fully worth the brief wait if at all. Extremely friendly people who run this quaint and very quality place.

I had the most amazing experience at Izumi. Great food that took me back to Japan, super ambiance and really polite staff. I will be back for more, Izumi! :)
Erica De Souza
I had the most wonderful food experience here last Saturday night! Go early for a table, although bar seating is uber cool cos you get to chat with the passionate chef Naurasia about her experiences and favourite ingredients. In a nutshell- the foods is divine, the ambience is warm and feels like you are dining with family. I’m going back as often as I can ❤️

Considering the tiny space that Izumi is, I must say, they’ve done a fine job with it!! It’s cozy intimate n warm.!!
The decor is simplistic n classy and the food is truly amazing!!! Authentic sushi sashimi ...... and the ramen bursting with flavour!!
Best of all, you can talk to Anil Kably (part owner) and he will guide you graciously through your meal.
A great place for sure!.... tiny, but then !!dynamite always comes in small packages!
Preetika Mathews
If you’re looking for authentic Japanese food, Izumi is the place to be ... we ordered the spicy prawn sushi, the salmon nigiri, the hamachi and the pork tonkotsu ramen... the food was amazing! For dessert, we had the green tea malabi with fruits and the sesame ice cream which were both great! Will def be going back there soon!
Tasneem Mukadam
Simply amazzzzzzzing!!!! so happy its right around the corner for me :)

The place is cute and cozy. The hosts Anil and Raphael were most gracious and welcoming on a busy Saturday evening. We did wait for a good 45 minutes which was totally worth it!

It's no surprise that good food eateries are quick to create a buzz really quickly, and Izumi is definitely one of them.

We ordered the spicy salmon sushi, avocado sushi, and 2 vegetarian ramen bowls. We also had the pink chia seeds cooler, the matcha cooler and the mango dessert.

For a sushi loverrrrrrrr that I am, i'll be going back again and again and again....The prices are great for the quality and service offered.

Also, look at the pedigree here: creators of Zenzi & Bagel Shop that are institutions in good ol'Bandra :) you cannot go wrong here!

Must must visit! enjoy! :) Nooresha who is also the owner is the mastermind chef behind this beauty. She's friendly and available to recommend whats best for your palette.

The old guy could be more polite. Telling a couple who walked quite a distance to come here for dinner, that they do not seat couples at tables isn't the nicest thing to hear. I've waited longer for good food, and didn't mind the wait. And I do understand the rush. But should that discount being made to feel welcome?
Will come back again with the hope that I'll finally get to experience what brown paper bag spoke about. 3 stars because I do believe the food is excellent. Hopefully, soon, I'll know it too.

Everything about this place is amazing- the food, the decor! Easily the best sushi + sashimi I’ve had in a while, and the pork ramen is to die for!
