Review The Fatty Bao - Mumbai

Arin Paul
Been here for the first time and had a lovely evening. The ambience builds up an amazing mood with equally awesome and different cuisine compared to our daily stuff. The food is truly good and I would be back for the other ones in the menu. Though it's priced a tad on the expensive side, one should surely try out.

Amazing food, great atmosphere and good service make this place a must visit, the flavours in their food are just phenomenal, you must definitely try the Thai Chicken Salad and the Mango Raw Papaya Salad, also their Ramen is just too good.

The ambience really elevates the dining experience there. Food and portions are quite adequate. Would recommend to give this place a try. We had their vegetarian options consisting of mushroom and bell pepper bao, veg pad thai noodles, vegetable and garlic noodles and kimchi baby potatoes.

The sushi is pretty good, this is the tempura veg sushi 8 pieces which was around 900 rupees. The beer offer was good on weekdays, 2+1

Ambience - 5/5 Food - 5/5 Service/Interaction - 5/5 One of the best asian cuisine food served in the town. I had spicy chicken ramen which costed around 575/- though the cooking time took a while but it was worth waiting. Another one to try is tantanmen ramen. Beautifully designed restaurant. Prefer siting on top tables rather than sitting if you have a height issue. Alcohol is also served. Highly recommend place. Please note if you are having ramen don’t eat any other dish because the quantity is a lot and you will end up wasting food. If not than you can try dimsums and purple fried rice.
Shubhra Vats
The ramen here is a must try. We went specially for that and were not disappointed. The Must Haves here include Japanese Kabocha Curry (we had it with sticky rice) and Spicy Red Chicken Ramen.

This is a great place to hangout with your friends, if you're a fan of Asian cuisine. The staff is great and the ambience is nice as well. We ordered chicken ramen and shrimp and crab bao. The food is great and also the desert. Check out the pics

This has been my go to restaurant since a while now, sushi here is just so good. Tofu and mock meat bao should be tried, if you have just turned vegetarian and miss non-veg. Raw papaya and green mango salad cannot be described in words. They just have 2 dessert options, i wish they had more options. Have only tried Japanese cheesecake until now which tastes really good along with the ice-cream. This is one place you would definitely want to go again.

A really nice place with a lovely menu. The ambience is to the point and staff is courteous. Definitely re-visiting this place soon Would recommend pre-booking a table, sushis and obviously have the baos here. The food is a little too high on the pocket but it's an experience in itself.

The food was delicious, loved the purple fried rice and pepper chicken. Chicken and silverbeet dimsums were tasty and juicy. However the Japanese cheesecake was okay. Not that soft, tasted like a cake and not like a cheesecake.

It was my first time visiting Fatty Bao, and i had ordered a Via Malaysia Ramen bowl, Lotus root thai curry with Jasmine rice and a mocktail. The food was actually very delicious, the Thai curry was not too sweet and the ramen was also quite good. The quantity of one dish is enough for one person that's what I think. I ordered for two and at the end we struggled to finish it. So order wisely. Although at first i thought that fatty bao was costly but the food was so good that it was worth it. Also the vibe is pretty good and soothing.

Good classy restaurant with a nice Oriental decor. The dishes are well prepared and well suited for the Indian palate. Usually bustling with patrons during the weekdays. Faced a delay in service while ordering food which created a confusion with the servers, but apart that, this place is quite a delight. Applied the zomato gold membership offer with 5-6 friends during the visit. Pleasant experience.

Tried the weekday lunch set menu, great experience! Smaller portions but still a lot of variety and enough for a full meal

Fatty Bao has been in business since a while now and there is no doubt as to how they have managed to maintain their position in this industry. The quality of food only gets better and it continues to remain value for money. The decor is colorful with chilled out vibes having interesting interiors. The service is good as the staff are well versed with the menu. This place has to be in your one of the must visit Pan Asian restaurants.

We were passing Kamala Mills and my friend insisted me to dine with him at The Fatty Bao. We got a table around 2pm. Loved the decor and the table top items. Felt nice to sit in an Asian decor room and eat. What we ate? We called for the Mushroom Bell Peppers Bao and Spicy Fried Fish Bao. Both the dishes were excellent in taste. The flour of the bao was absolutely well done. Light and fluffy. The fried fish tasted nice and the combo of mushroom and Bell peppers was just perfect. The fish bao made a round 2 on the table. Yay. The California Roll Sushi (4 pcs) Crab Meat sushi served with pickled ginger and a ball of wasabi along with the soy sauce. Prawns Chive Dimsums were yummy. What I liked the most in this dish was the sheets. Very well done guys. The thin sheet didn't over power the flour taste nor they were chewy and allowed all the richness of prawns and Chive to explode in our mouths. In the middle we called for some beers to push down our food. For the mains we called for Egg Fried Rice, Celery Chicken Gravy and Udang Noodles. I loved the rice and celery chicken. Also the noodles were nice. The noodle gravy was non spicy and full of exotic veggies. Recommandations: Chicken Celery Gravy, Spicy Fried Fish Bao and the Prawns Tempura. The staff is well trained. Ujjain who is one of the staff took very good care of us by helping us select the right dishes and also serving them nicely. We enjoyed some good music too. Since it was afternoon time we wanted some lazy music like jazz or bossanova which apparently made it in the playlist. The music is controlled by BC JUKEBOX where we added some tracks and enjoyed the session. Will visit FB more for their other items.

Ordered from The Fatty Bao on a Tuesday afternoon and the experience was great! We had ordered Fatty Pho Ramen and Crab meat &Tobiko Sushi. Both were utterly delicious. Good quantity and the flavours were intense. Would totally recommend ordering from here. The prices could have been better though but it was worth it 👍

Great Baos. I only wish the portion sizes would increase. Taste wise everything was on point.

It tasted Korean for sure and it tasted like something i have never tasted before. You could tell the base was Korean food but it had an indian masala slight flavor to it as well. IT was great for a vegetarian. Fatty Bao Rainy Day Kimchi Noodles.

If you are looking to dig into some really delicious Asian food, this is where you should be heading. To be frank the menu was pretty confusing to me! So we requested our server to help us decide and what a great help he was! Everything was finger licking good!

What we had:
Grilled Sambal Chicken Bao
Minced veggies with chives dumplings
Kimchi Potatoes
Braised Chicken in celery and soya sauce
Stir fried chicken udon noodles
Cocoa Caramel (dessert)
Sakura Sakura (Mocktail)

Although everything was delicious, my personal favourite was the udon noodles which was a perfect balance of hot and sweet. The dessert was another absolute delight and I highly recommend you should try it. One thing I would like to specially shout about is their chilli garlic oil that they served along with the other sauces! It's reallyyyyy good!

Visited Fatty Bao on weekend evening getting in was smooth and they have lot of seating space. We are vegiteria and haveing good south east asian is a challange. I have to agree that this experiance has to be my best in Mumbai.

Our dinner started with shushi rolls and they were a symphony of textures as well as flavors. Follwing it was kung pao potato its was mussy inside and crunchy outside with strong chilli punch. We ended our dinner with a mashroom raman. It was deliciously mouth watering. The umami and texture play a amazing.

Note : try some of the tamarind and lime based cocktails. They are one of a kind.
Will like to keep it short and simple
Food taste was amazing , really liked the presentation of the food , ambiance was well upto the Japanese mark, cost is a bit high but the food is way worth for the price
Twisha Pesso
The crab and prawn Bao was not upto the mark. The fish was frozen and stale and the sauces were tasteless. We couldn't eat the Bao and had to throw away most of it.
Arya Naringrekar
the thai kapitan rice was the best of all, the crab bao was also delicious, shrimp tempura was okayish and the sauces served with it were awesome😋 we tried the mushroom soup which in a great quantity(must try)
Tanmay Sahni
Baos are really good. Prawn dim sum was pretty decent too. Pho was average. It's a delicate dish with mild flavors, theirs was all over the place. Hella spicy to start with. Mushroom ramen was 7/10. Didn't accept a coupon I had because they'd printed the bill. Yeah, right. We know how computers work. Also why would you play loud club music at all? That's not your vibe

Really good place for pan Asian cuisine..very courteous staff and pretty decor!

Visited this place on a weekend. And yes, it was packed but got a table within 15 mins.
Ordered Rainbow Sushi (veg), Spicy Ramen and Cocoa Caramel.
Enjoyed every dish here... Everything was served fresh, flavourful and with warmth.
Food was excellent and the staff is friendly, welcoming and attentive.
The best part of the food was the dessert bit. Delightful!!!
Eager to visit this place again!

The fatty bao's most attractive features are it's ambience and their awesome baos. There are a lot of items that this place should be in your must visit list. One of them is most definitely ramen. For anyone who wants to have the best ramen experience, this is the place.
We had prawns dimsums and open bao for starters which were really amazing quality and taste wise. The open bao is also one of their speciality dish, where the Bao is extremely soft and melts in your mouth.
For ramen we had the spicy chicken ramen which is not on the menu and which was recommended by the staff for us being spice lovers. And it was absolutely perfect! The eggs and the broth and the noodles and the chicken and veggies, were to die for!
For dessert we had the Japanese style cheese cake which is the perfect way to end a flavour filled experience and hands down one of the best cheesecakes out there period.
The ambiance makes you feel like you're in a traditional Japanese ramen joint.

Since it was a Friday night, the place was packed and so we had to wait for 15 mins. Later when we were seated, the order was immediately placed. We ordered for a Rainbow Sushi, Spicy Ramen with veggies and cocoa Caramel.
The Sushi was okay, noodles were perfectly cooked and tasted delicious. The dessert was the showstopper. Haven't tasted anything like that before. Blew my mind. So go for it if you're visiting this place.
The staff was very courteous and attentive. Overall experience was fab!

It's a very different cuisine.
The place is a bit dull the ambience could have been much better.
The staff is very good 5/5 for it.
The food is also good especially the noodles.
The dessert could have been better

I did not even get my entire order and they made me pay 900 rupees for this! It was one item and one box only dripping of sauce and everything was spoiled. Not worth it at all

This place is overhyped to the core ..because the food is below average...Mr. Dishank who is supposedly the manager is cocky and arrogant and does not know how to speak to a customer or handle a pety grievance...management should be aware of the cocky way a manager speaks to the patron..highly disappointed with the food and Mr. DISHANK.

On a relatively quiet Monday, to celebrate the wife’s birthday the family including her sis and bro from Canada planned a celebratory diner at Fatty Bao, Andheri. It’s relatively moderately sized placed dressed in Far East decor with lights in cane baskets. The Far East Asian mood is well set by the decor. A long Central raised table flanked by high chairs are designed for the young crowd coming to see matches on the big screen. On either side are comfortable tables and chairs, The menu is loaded with Japanese dishes though there are Thai items as well and the menu takes pains to explain that the dishes may sound unusual but the tastes will appeal to the Indian pallette. The key specialities are of course the Bao dishes, Sushi and the Ramen noodle bowls. Our selections included: Uramaki-Rainbow Sushi: Excellently presented. But hey you need to cultivate a taste for them. And the veggie sushi lover is rare indeed. But with the wasabi paste and soy dip they were light and flavourful. Spicy cottage cheese& spring onion Shengjian Bao: spicy on the inside with cottage cheese and spring onion inside the baos. Fatty lotus root and snow peas in Kung Pai sauce: this was crisp and terrific starter enjoyed by al. Chilli crab & prawn cake was relished! Char siu- BBQ pork belly was finished with great gusto and pronounced delicious! Tuna with Tosazu sauce : a Japanese style dish was decent. Sweet spicy sour & sticky pork ribs: the verdict on this was outstanding. Ramen & soupy noodle- Exotic Mushroom broth: this is a large bowl. Noodles were lovely, the soup was a thin soup. But mushrooms and truffle oil never made their presence felt. A decent dish but a tad bland for our tastes. Wasabi prawns - tempura fried prawns were really enjoyed. Tempura is so close our own pakora style cooking. Slow cooked lamb masaman- lamb shank slow cooked with baby potatoes, peanut, red onion and basil. This is served with sticky rice and is bound to be a hit with Indians on account of the curry style of preparation. Not a single dish was a outright flop. The service was efficient, friendly and knowledgeable- they advised well. The prices of the dishes were reasonable given the quality of preparation- though a slightly lower pricing would fill the restaurant even on weekdays. With liquor, the seven of us ran up a bill of just under Rs 2000/- per head. They add Service charge to the bill. This place is best enjoyed as a group so you can try a variety . The bar serves a variety of cocktails and their virgin versions. Fatty Bao at Andheri is definitely recommended.

As it's name suggests, the fatty bao is most famous for it's soft and absolutely scrumptious bao😍
The sushi is very fresh and delicious, it's hot ramen is extremely delicious and I highly recommend the Japanese Cheesecake, one of the best desserts served with vanilla gelato and sour cherries.❤️
Its extremely affordable aswell for the pockets😄
The ambience is great, a warm cozy atmosphere to enjoy, chill and eat in.🔥
Ambience ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Food ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Value for Money ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Been a while since I have reviewed a place. Went here for a mid week dinner and throughly enjoyed the experience. The place was relatively empty taking into consideration, it was a Wednesday.
We ordered for chicken and asparagus dumplings, duck nachos, vegetable broth and fatty pho. I definitely recommend the duck nachos and the ramen has always been a classic here.
Overall rating,
Ambience- 5/5
Service-5/5
Food-5/5
Cleanliness-5/5
Overall, a must visit.

Well, I visited this place first to try out Ramen from anime Naruto. But loved this place so much that I have been there 6 times in two months.

I am writing this review after trying out all the types of Ramen over there. I suggest, if you are gonna try it for first time and you are more of Indian who love spicy food then go with Tantamen Ramen (basically pork stock but also available with chicken)

Then I would rank others as, fatty pho, exotic mushroom, seafood, chasu, thai.

Try out Gyoza or Dimsums here, they are very nicely cooked served with different sauces such as crispy chilly oil, soy chilly. Try out Fatty Baos and cheese cake for dessert.
Cheese cake is so fluffy topped with tangy berries, it gives you amazing flavour!!

Great Ambience, Japanese style, Booze available and you can avail 50% off, if you book through Eatigo ( App) . 50% off is available for time slots @12:00 noon, 7:30 pm & 10:30 pm.

I'm a sucker when it comes down to Asian cuisine. I just cannot get bored of having those dimsums and sushis any day. Fatty Bao offers one of the most authentic Asian food in the town. You will fall in love with the vibe the moment you enter the restaurant. The ambiance gives the feel of a traditional Japanese home with the lanterns, the fans, chopsticks, the plates etc. The staff also makes you feel comfortable by being friendly and courteous.

Coming down to the food -

Crab Meat and Tobiko sushi - Crab meat sticks are rolled in rice and topped with tiny orange tobiko fish eggs. The sushi feels so fresh with the first bite and the tobiko eggs just burst a large amount of flavour in your mouth. The Sushi isn't very dry and feels just perfect.

Prawn Crystal Dumpling - Prawn mince, fried garlic and garlic chives are stuffed crystal dumpling. Super yummy.

Smoke Chicken Gyoza - Favorite dish of mine. Have this every single time I visit here. Would recommend this dish to everyone.

Duck Nachos - A very unusual nachos with shredded duck, hoisin mayo, duck skin and tofu cheese sauce. Must try if you want to taste something different.

Prawn Tempura Sushi - This sushi was very average. The prawn felt a bit stale and chewy.

Verdict - Fatty Bao is a place if you want to try authentic Asian cuisine. It's amazing in all ways. You should visit here as soon as possible.

Happened to visit this place for lunch today, talking about the ambience of the place it's lit and actually makes you think of an Asian restaurant theme with fancy lamps, chopsticks on the menu, Chinese style cruet set etc.
We ordered for Grilled Sambal chicken Bao, wok chicken, Hong Kong style fried rice and cocoa Caramel for desserts.
The Bao was soft a bit sweetish and the stuffing of grilled Sambal chicken was juicy with fresh flavours.
The wok chicken was also good, sweet and spicy.
Hong Kong style fried rice was filling and had good elements in terms of garnish as well as the quantity.
The dessert was okay could have been better, more emphasis was given on the look than on the taste.

Overall it's a good restaurant and worth visiting.

As heard this place has a variety of scrumptious Japanese and Asian cuisines. So i came here with my colleagues and yes we had an amazing time. Every sip of it was oozing and refreshing to drink.loved them.
.
.
.
For starters we had:
(1)pok pok chicken wings(4.5/5)
(2)spicy cottage cheese and spring onion(4/5)
.
.
.
For mains we had:
(1)exotic vegetable with silken tofu(4/5)
.
.
For desserts we had:
(1)coco caramel(5/5)...personally recommended
(2)zen forest (5/5)... A Japanese specialty restaurant having elegant decor befitting the theme. I visited on Sunday for lunch and almost every table was occupied ( I didn’t know there are many fans for authentic asian food).

The service was good and the staff was polite and helpful.

I decided to take a risk in ordering Risky Whiskey as Its a unique combination of whiskey with lime and lemonade but to my delight it turned out to be really good. My wife tried a mock-tail called “Peach Fizzler” and it was amazing. A peach flavoured drink with lime and I really liked it. [Recommended].

In starters we decided to try the specials.. Bao and Sushi.
1. Crab meat Sushi with Tobiko:
A sushi prepared with raw crab meat with incorporation of Tobiko ( roe of flying fish). The sushi went well with the soy sauce dip. Liked it. [ Recommended].
2. Grilled Sambal Bao:
Grilled chicken prepared in sambal sauce wrapped in a bao. The taste was decent.

In mains.. we had Fatty Pho, a type of “soupy noodles” - a combination Vietnamese styled chicken soup with vegetables and noodles. A novel experience for me.

In desserts we tried Fatty Hill an chocolate flavoured mousse (with mint at the centre) served with vanilla ice cream. The mousse was soft and tasty and I especially liked the Ice cream.

The Fatty Bao is THE BEST place when it comes to Asian cuisine . You will fall in love with this place right from the moment you step in . The lanterns , the hand fans , the chopsticks and many more such things just throw off a really asian vibe . You will get the same feeling as you would get if you were dining in some restaurant in China or Japan. The staff is super kind and welcoming too. The food over here wins your heart . It doesn't just taste awesome but even is presented in way that makes it appear like a piece of art. I tried the following:

Mocktails :-
Peach Fizzler: loved the way in which this mocktail was presented . It tasted much more amazing than it looked . It consisted of peach , apricot , orange and lime juice. Extremely refreshing.

Sakura Sakura : Sakura in Japanese means a cherry blossom. Just like how cherry blossoms bloom , you too will bloom up and glow up after you taste this divine mocktail that comprises of
fresh fruits, passion fruit and grape juice .

Starters :-

Duck nachos : the presentation of this dish was spot on . Normally in restaurants nachos are simply placed like a heap . One on top of the other however these were placed in a spiral pattern with the duck meat in between the nachos . This dish looks like piece of art and tasted heavenly . The duck was really well cooked and really got along with the nachos .

Fatty Lotus stem : A heavenly affair of Lotus stem , snow peas and Kung pao sauce. Kung Pao sauce is a key component in Chinese cuisine . It consists of a variety of ingredients such as sesame ,cashew etc . It blended extremely well with the lotus root and the snow peas and made this dish worth craving for.

Main course :
Stir fried Udon noodles with shiitake mushrooms and Chinese cabbage : This dish is available with chicken / lamb. There is even a vegetarian variant available . I picked the chicken variant of this scrumptious dish . Udon is a type of thick, wheat-flour noodle used frequently in Japanese cuisine. Udon noodles are amazing and one must certainly try them . They blended quite well with the sauces and were extremely mouthwatering . The inclusion of the shiitake mushrooms and Chinese cabbage in this dish was simply out of this world .

Ramen & soupy noodles via Malaysia: the ramen noodles were really well cooked . Ramen noodles are supposed to be really long and thin unlike udon. These noodles were exactly how ramen should be . The broth was an amalgamation of kaffir lime leaves , lemongrass , basil and coconut etc . The aroma of this dish was really amazing . This dish is a gem if you love coconut. The kaffir lime leaves simply augmented the taste . There were so many flavours to handle in this dish and the chef did a really good job at balancing all the various flavours .

Desserts:

Choco Caramel : presented in a really fabulous way . Six stars out of five for the plating and ten stars out of five for the plating . Yes it really was that heavenly . This dish had alot of elements and each of them was perfect . "Perfection " is what this dish was .Right from the milk chocolate cream to the hazelnut praline crisps . The meringue was the finest of its kind too and the salted caramel ice cream had this amazing flavour . This dish was marvellous.

Custard Apple Panna cotta (eggless) - panna cotta is an Italian dessert . Panna cotta literally translates to cooked cream . The plating of this dish was phenomenal . Topped with raspberry caviars and sesame tuile, this dish was awe-inspiring in taste . The flavour of this dish was magical. There even was coconut salted icecream that didn't fail to shine too.

All in all the fatty bao is amazing in every way . Do visit them . You will never be disappointed .

The staff is very polite and welcoming. Eating over here is really a great experience since you feel as if you're in China Town . I tried the following:
Peach Fizzler
Fatty Lotus stem
Ramen via Malaysia
Custard Apple Panna cotta

All of these dishes were fantastic especially the custard Apple Panna cotta . Loved being here .

This is situated in the lane opposite the infinity mall. It serves authentic Japanese and Chinese food. The decor gives the 'Asian' feel as well. Ambiance is cozy.
What we tried :

➡️ Drinks : Risky whisky and sakura sakura

Sakura sakura is made with passion fruit, fresh fruits and grape juice and is very refreshing. Risky whisky is definitely not a risky option, you will absolutely enjoy its flavor.

➡️ Spicy tofu and radish cake :
This is by far the best bao I have ever had! The combination of soft bao bread with the crispy patty inside it is absolutely heavenly! The chilli sauce makes is absolutely delicious. A must try!!

➡️ Kimchi potatoes :
Baby potatoes coated with Kimchi spices and served with fried garlic and scallions. The outer coating was nice and crispy, the potatoes were a little bland on the inside.

➡️ Spicy Asian noodles with vegetables :
This was a customised dish where they made this, a usually non veg dish, into a vegetarian one. The quantity is amazing. You can ask them to make it as spicy as you want. It was delectable!

➡️ Hong Kong style baked chicken chop on fried rice :

Abundance of chicken pieces with a cheese layer on top of this dish makes it a promising choice for a non veg Mains option. You will love it!

➡️ Desserts : Japanese cheesecake and zen forest

Japanese cheesecake is a divine treat for cheesecake lovers. So light, creamy and cheesy. On top of that it is served with vanilla ice cream which makes this dish even more tastier! Risky whiskey - I loved the cocktail option and the innovation used. 4.5/5
For mains, I ordered Hong Kong style Baked chicken chop on fried rice. It was served with cheese on top (a combination which I tried for the first time) and it did not disappoint. 5/5
For desserts I ordered Japanese cheese cake and I’m in love with it, so soft and delicious. Highly recommended 5/5

The Fatty Bao

Located in Andheri-Lokhandwala,The Fatty Bao serves authentic Pan Asian food and also gives the vibe of being in an Asian restaurant. The food served is delicious and the deserts are something to die for. They are different from the usual chocolate based desserts and the combination of flavours is just perfect. The staff at the place is also very cordial and welcoming, and the service was also very quick.

I tried the following dishes
1) Mandalay Bay - This mocktail was a subtle but refreshing drink consisting of Jasmine tea, sweet and sour mix and ginger ale.

2)Peach fizzler - A refreshing mocktail which can be enjoyed by peach lovers.

3) Tempura Fried Crispy Veg with pickled plum Sushi, was a delicious sushi roll with fried spinach and baby corn in the centre. The sushi was soft and crunchy at the same time and encompassed a lot of flavours

4) Spicy Tofu and Radish Bao, this dish is not very spicy and all the flavour combine very well to give the most pleasant experience. The extremely soft bun with the crispy vegetable and tofu filling was one of the best dishes I tried here.

5)Fatty Pho Ramen, a Vietnamese style pho with chicken broth and soft noodles, topped with a half boiled egg and shredded chicken was absolutely delicious. The quantity is enough for filling one person completely and the warm broth is just perfect for the winter climate.

6) Exotic Veg with Silken Tofu with Veg Rice, is a bowl of soft tofu and vegetable like bell peppers, zucchini, cauliflower, broccoli, chillies, carrots in a delicious Chinese gravy. The bowl is served with steamed or fried rice on the side.

7) Japanese Cheese Cake , the cheesecake was a regular one but the combination of the cake with the vanilla ice-cream served on the side exemplified it's taste to a different level.

8)Zen Forest, this dessert is a lemon parfait served with sesame sponge and sesame crisp. The combination of these three is to die for. The parfait had very good texture and was flavourful.

The Bao and Zen Forest are must try at this restaurant.

The Fatty Bao is an amazing restaurant serving some great Asian cuisine.

I loved their prawn dimsums. I enjoyed their China town special pot rice and the lamb massaman curry.

One thing I want to highlight is their innovative desserts. Definitely loved the Japanese cheesecake and the lemongrass cremebrule (only order this if you like lemon grass because it has a super sharp taste!)

Overall, The Fatty Bao was an amazing experience with great dimsums, baos, a large variety in mains and some amazing desserts.

5 stars for sure!

The Fatty Bao is an amazing option for Pan Asian cuisine in the Lokhandwala area. It’s walking distance from Infiniti mall and has both indoor and outdoor dining options.

I visited the restaurant on a Monday afternoon with friends for lunch and had a great time. They have a special China town menu with a lot of unique dishes.

A few things you definitely shouldn’t miss at the Fatty Bao are -

The white wine Sangria - infused with green apple and basil it makes a perfect drink to go with a pan Asian meal.

The Baos! - Just as the name suggests, this place has amazing baos. I tried the fried chicken Bao and the bbq chicken Bao, both of which were extremely delectable.

Braised chicken in Soy - a rich dark brown gravy with lots of tender boneless chicken. Went perfect with a portion of fried rice and was spot on with the flavour.

Their desserts! - I tried a few of their desserts and loved them all. They were well played, unique and exquisite. A couple that you should definitely try are the Japanese cheesecake and the coco caramel.

Definitely recommending fatty Bao as a great pan Asian restaurant with some astounding dishes. Definitely coming back here, especially for their baos and desserts!

The best part of going to an Asian restaurant is the ambience of the restaurant. And this restaurant just looks so beautiful. I loved the colourful chairs, simple decor, variations in walls and yes it’s a pretty huge place.
I’ve been to many asian restaurants and I can say that this one is my favourite.
Located at Linking road, Bandra, it is very easy to get here.
The menu is vast. Took me some time to decide as there are many options to choose from.

What I ordered-

Spicy mushroom sushi rolls- This one was an average. ..

Prawn garlic and chives dimsum- Just go ahead with this one. I loved how generously the dimsums were filled with prawn mixture. Just needed a dipping sauce with it as the aftertaste felt dry. Having it with some hot sauce or soy sauce tastes better.

Fatty pho- Loved this bowl of ramen so much. The broth was dancing with flavours. And the quantity was huge. The best part is that they use black noodles in it. It tasted fantastic. Good amount of chicken pieces. The chicken was marinated and bursted with flavours unlike the boiled chicken that we usually have in ramen. So kudos to the well cooked and tasty chicken in my ramen. Highly recommend this one.

Seafood ramen- This is just the right one for seafood lovers. Well cooked noodles and flavourful broth with lots of pieces of prawns, fish cakes, salmon and calamari.

Mix berry iced tea- This one was from their special menu. I loved it. Check out for available cocktails and mocktails when you visit.

Japanese cheesecake- The happiest ending to my meal. You gotta try the cheesecake here. Words cannot define this dish. Highly recommend to all.

All the asian lovers this place is for you. Polite staff. The service was very quick. Pricing is a bit on the higher side but food is totally worth it. Do try out!

My friends and I visited the restaurant on a Sunday night. The food was very good and had a very decent portion size as well.
Both the sushi and dimsums were really good.

However one thing which was not upto the mark was the service and the waiter’s behaviour.
Considering we arrived at the place 45 mins before closing they forced us to order all the food at one shot (including main course and dessert) and when we asked if they could serve the appitizers first and then the main course they didnt really comply with that and we had 8-9 dishes together at our table.

The overall behaviour of the waiters including the head waiter was really rude as if they wanted us to order less so that we can leave and they can head home.

This would the perfect place to try some Japanese cuisine. This place has a bright decor with japan artefacts and lamps. The service was prompt and the staff were helpful with the menu.

We started with drinks, tried sakura sakura and peach Lemonade.
Sakura Sakura was my favourite among both. It was refreshing and the taste was well balanced with sweet and sour.

Starters:
Fried Chicken Bao (Highly Recommended): First of all, I'm not a great fan of Japanese cuisine so I was looking for Indian mix to it.
This was a star dish for me. The Bao was very soft and the crispy chicken was sandwiched between these Bao. Love the taste.

Dancing Prawns: I love prawns and looking for some spicy dish in this category. The staff suggested to me this one. Worth it. The prawns accompanied with veggies were well tossed in their homemade sauce.

Main Course:
Hong Kong Style Baked Chicken Chop on fried Rice:
I would recommend this dish to try. A popular Hong Kong dish with chicken chops served over fried rice and baked with marina sauce and cheese scattered over the top.

Asian Noodles with Chicken and bird's eye chilli:
Wanted to try noodles tried this one. The dish was served gravy top of it. The gravy was yummy and the chicken was delicious and blended well with the gravy.

Desserts:
Ended the meal with CocoCarmel and Japanese cheesecake. Loved both the deserts. First, try CocoCarmel and then cheesecake.

A restaurant located at Versova, The Fatty Bao is a must-try for all the lovers of Pan Asian and Japanese cuisine. The service is prompt, the staff is really great and the food is served with the utmost quality. Good value for money place as well.

The interiors of this place are all about Japanese styles like a lantern and Japanese dolls. The food is really good and the presentation of every dish was on point it looked so delicious and tasty and even tasted like it. I'm not a fan of Asian and Japanese style food but my first experience is really good and henceforth I won't think before going with this type of cuisine.

What I tried:
POK POK CHICKEN: This starter was really good and I personally loved it a lot. It is wok-tossed boneless chicken wings with a different sauce and garlic. The juicy outer layer with a perfect filling of chicken inside it.

Fried Chicken Bao: It is really delicious, the chicken was properly fried and it was crispy and it tasted good with mayonnaise.

Hongkong style baked chicken chop on fried rice: Damn presentation of this was really good and even the taste. visited The Fatty Bao in Andheri for lunch. They had a festival going on. The interiors were beautifully decorated to suit the festive season. The staff was extremely polite and well behaved.
Cocktails-
We started off with the cocktails.
Risky whiskey- As the name goes, the cocktail has whiskey as the base and is slightly on the stronger side. They also provide a good quantity of it.
Sepukka- Pink in colour and having a vodka base, the drink is for anyone who is a fan of vodka.
Starters:
Prawn and spinach dumplings- Extremely soft, loaded with prawns on the inside and wrapped with spinach on the outside, the dumplings are a must try.
Duck nachos- Your favourite nachos loaded with a lot of duck meat. The crispy nachos beautifully compliment the soft duck meat.
Main course:
Lamb masaman curry with jasmine rice- We ordered this for the main course. Perhaps this was the best dish out of all that we tasted. The lamb was properly cooked and was immensely soft. The curry was very tasty and complimented the jasmine rice for a wholesome experience.
Desserts:
Fatty hill- A chocolate hill served with vanilla icecream. Who isn't a fan of chocolate and vanilla ice cream? The dessert is sure to please people of all age groups.
Lemongrass crempe brulle- Cheesecake with the flavour of lemongrass served with almond ice cream. The flavours are quite strong and soothing.
All in all I had an unique experience, I can definitely go back again.

We tried the following mocktails-
Double Jade, with a very leafy taste.
Peach fizzler, a sour peach and lime soda.
Cran cooler, a sweet and sour drink with the flavour of cranberry and ginger melding great!
Sakura Sakura- our favourite mocktail, with a really sweet and sour flavour accompanied by flakes of fruit that was very refreshing.
The Fatty Bao impresses you instantly as you enter it, with its Oriental ambience with all sorts of artwork and antique pieces! It adds on this with it's colourful, well illustrated menu and tables.
It offers a lot of variety in starters. Prawns tempura sushi is rice and crispy prawns with a lot of flavours that liven up your taste buds. Spicy cottage cheese and spring onion is a really smooth paneer surrounded by crispy spring onions. Minced vegetables with chived dumplings was an authentic dish loaded with all sorts of flavours, right from the leafy greens of its dumpling itself to the pomegranate seed at its top. Our personal favourite was fatty lotus roots. They are Kung Pao sauce covered, really well-fried lotus roots. They have a good balance of leafy and roasted flavours, which went really well with the sauce.
For the mains, we tried the Exotic Mushroom Ramen. It was mild and light to eat, a welcome respite from the otherwise strong flavours. We also had braised chicken in celery and soy sauce along with fried rice. Loaded with toppings on the chicken from black Jalapeno to broccoli, the chicken was absolutely delicious!
For desserts, we had cocoa caramel and custard apple pana cotta. The cocoa caramel was greatly presented, with sweet, salty and berry going all out on your taste buds! It has cocoa ice cream with caramel gel, light flourless cake and milk chocolate cream. Custard Apple Pana Cota was salty with mild ice creams. It was also very impressively plated, pretty much the MasterChef quality!
All in all, a wonderful experience! Would definitely recommend for authentic Oriental cuisine.

A very colourful ambience with all sorts of Oriental Art and showcases welcomes you as you step into the Fatty Boa! It impresses you right away with this and it further surprises you with it's colourful, detailed menu and tables.

To start off, it offers a lot of variety in starters. Prawns tempura sushi has flavourful rice and crispy prawns embedded in it very nicely. Spicy cottage cheese and spring onion were a very different take on the more common 'Paneer Tikka'- with a very smooth paneer surrounded by contrasting spring onions. Minced vegetables with chived dumplings was an authentic dish loaded with flavours, right from the leafy greens of it's dumpling itself to the pop of the pomegranate seed at the top. Finally, our personal favourite was fatty lotus roots. Beautifully fried lotus roots covered in Kung Pao sauce. The stir fried roots gave a very leafy and roasted flavour to it, which went really well with the sauce.

For the mains, we had braised chicken in celery and soy sauce along with fried rice. There were lots of toppings in the chicken ranging from broccoli to black jalapeno and the chicken itself was absolutely delicious! Finally, the exotic mushroom ramen was different from the others, a bit milder in taste giving a respite from the loads of flavour.

They offered some great mocktails to go with the food-
Cran cooler was a sweet and sour drink with the flavour of cranberry and ginger coming out great!
Double Jade had a very leafy taste, as its name suggests.
Peach fizzler was peach with lime soda and is great for those with a taste for sour drinks.
Sakura Sakura was the best mocktail, with a really sweet and sour flavour accompanied by flakes of fruit that was very refreshing

For desserts, we had custard apple pana cotta, which had a very impressive plating, of MasterChef quality really! It served as a welcome salty climax to the meal accompanied by it's mild ice creams.
And finally, the cocoa caramel was another dish great on presentation. It had lots of different flavours in the same plate as well, and had really good caramel ice cream surrounded by caramel gel, milk chocolate cream and really light flourless cake!

All in all, a wonderful experience! Would definitely recommend for authentic Oriental cuisine .
