I was lucky that I visited this place I had a very good I had various type of dish .I really liked the prawn fry I liked the malvan style thali. I loved tandoori chicken lollipops.
Always dependable. I have been ordering food from here for years and the fish is always the freshest. My favourite is their squid butter garlic, cooked to perfection. Mandeli fry and other fish fries are great. Prawns are yummy, always good sized prawns. Bombil fry is amazing when had hot and fresh at the restaurant. It's the next best thing to having fish made at home. Well priced. Would recommend highly for its consistency

Overall the service was good, I like the goan special shark amotik and rawas grilled. Fresh and made to perfection. The tangy taste and the green chutney served with dish! Keep it up
The surmai semi gravy could had been much better, the masala didnt override the taste of fish that much hence some portion we could figure out the distinction!
a second visit to this place and still good. the butter garlic prawns and bombil fry a must. the prawan rechado and malawani kalwan special chicken was yumm too. This place has definitely become a all time favorite. look forward to try their chinese too
This simple place serves best place, I got fish thali was so good and gravy was very nice, roti like home made, good serving portion, dal and other dishes were also good.

Malwani Kalwan is a classic place for all the Mumbaikars when it comes to relishing on their Malwani style food. It's a very good place for all the seafood lovers as they have lots of varieties in seafood.
As soon as we entered we were guided to our table by the manager and from there after we started with our feast. As it was only me and my wife we ordered for Prawns Rava Fry, Butter Garlic Squid and Kombdi wadi.
• Prawns Rava Fry -> The Prawns were as fresh as it could be and that reflected in its taste. Even though it was being deep fried it retained to its original taste and that made it more special. It was perfectly crispy outside and the inner flesh was also full of malwani flavours.
• Butter Garlic Squid -> Butter Garlic Squid was served in Butter Garlic Sauce. It was rich and was full of garlic flavours throughout. It complimented the Squid very well. So if you are here do try their this dish.
• Kombdi Wadi -> This dish is the native to Konkan Region of Maharashtra and it contained Chicken Masala and Wade which is nothing but fluffy fried dumplings made up of rice flour and sometimes of wheat or Raagi flour. Over here it was nicely made with Four Wade's and Chicken Masala. The taste completely complimented to its native taste.
Service was bit average as I had to wait for very long time for extra wades. Staff's were polite in their approach.
It's a good place for the one's looking to enjoy seafood.
Excellent place for some awesome sea food!! Visited this place for lunch on a Sunday afternoon the manager was very helpful to reserve us a table by a mere phone call.
For starters we had crispy bombil fry and prawns koliwada both were excellent. Fish wasn't smelly at all and the prawns size was adequate. For a non-fish fan it was a treat!! For mains I opted for the tried and tested option of Sukka Chicken and Vade both will leave your tastebuds tingling .
Although the place is not very easy to spot it's hard to give it a miss especially for all sea food lovers!!
Heaven for the sea food lovers. Ambience was really good. Friendly and helpful staff. Overall well managed restaurant. Food quality was go nice, not so oily, feels like eating at home. But quantity was not enough as price.

Ordered Boneless Bombil Crispy Fry - nice but portion is very small for the price, Goan Special Prawns Recheido - very nice, Malwani Kalwan Special Chicken - nice but not great, Rice Bhakri is usually very thin and soft (if fresh) but this time it was thick, and a little coarse. Overall was disappointed with this time's experience.
If you ever have a craving for Seafood this is the place to visit. Taste wise it's one of the best out there. Their chutney itself for starters is yummy. I love their Surami tawa fry & Chicken masala, usually have it with Amboli.
They have not disappointed till date & hope the same continues. It's not so heavy on the pocket as well which is a bonus.
Service is quick as well & suggestions are on point. Nothing fancy about the place except delicious food 😋
This is good place for fish lovers....food is not oily it's taste like a home made food which is a good thing.Bombil fry was good.Quantity of Pwrans biryani was enough for 3 person.
The speciality of this place variety of thali available here try surmai thali...you can get free extra small bowl of gravy in thali.
Malwani Kalwan is good for Malwani style seafood. I like there thalis in particular. Opt for neer dosa in thalis. Surmai fry is good.

We visited this place for lunch. hadplenty of starters crab soup, Mutton paaya soup, bombil fry, butter garlic squid, prawns malwani style, mandeli fry, fish finger n for main course ordered prawns curry (amotik) with amboli n wada . Our personal favourite was bombil fry, fish finger (raawas) and prawns malwani style. The taste is very close to home made seafood. Few reviews mention service to be slow, well we found it to be quick. I would have given 5 star, if not for the crab soup which had corn flour in it which was a Lil put off. Rest of the food was excellent.
I've visited this place multiple times and love the seafood. The Thalis are yum and definitely a must have. The prawns thali is my favorite. But will definitely recommend trying prawns masala and bombil fry as well. The food 100% tastes like home cooked food as they say. It comes with channa masala, fish curry and dal. I usually send the dal back. Overall the service is decent and quick. The server If asked will provide recommendations as well. The ambience is quite decent. Even try the squid if you want to have something different.
Very good food. We've been there several times and every time the food was amazing. We always had sea food and fish and every recipe was delicious. The staff is polite and accomodating.
A quaint little place, won’t expect but the food is amazing, the one thing that I love about this place is the fact that they have chapattis and they are very tasty, most places have rotis and not chapattis (if u know what I mean). Seafood is also very good and authentic, the one dish that the kids love is the Afghani Tandoori Chicken.

Has always and will always be my favourite spot for seafood. I have been coming here since almost 9 years. The taste of the food is still the same and its delicious too. The thalis here are amazing . The surmai thali and prawns thali are the best .That is something which I order on every visit.
Bangda Fry was good !!! Cooked to perfection and delivered just in time with a green chutney and some sliced onions. I don’t know where this restaurant is in 7 bungalows but worth reordering food from this place 🍻 cheers !
Ordered a chicken lasuni and paneer pahadi. Taking off one star because the delivery took for ever and by the time the food arrived it was a bit cold. But taste wise it was bang on. This was for accompaniment with home made rice and daal and complimented well with it!

So I like all the food I receive from here, everything is normally good or very good.
Today for some reason I decided to call for momos, don't know why I would call for it from a malwani place, but still I went a head and ordered.... I'm sooooooo glad I did. By far they exceeded my expectations. And the momos sauce was next leave! I will definitely be ordering momos from malwani Kalwan over and over again!!!!
A very pocket friendly place with an amazing taste.. We have ordered food from here as well as dined in.. An absolute food haven for all seafood lovers and most of all, the taste has remained the same...
Be it their Bombil fry, Squid rawa fry or their butter garlic prawns... Would love to have more...

The sea food was very fresh and tasty.. very close to Konkani/ goan preparation..the prawn rawa fry/ masala fry, bombil, tawa surmai, kokam were close to perfect. The menu for seasfood is very basic and crisp which only helps in orderiing better..
This is nice cozy place for local seafood treat. The staff is very prompt and the food is yummmmm. I love their Fried prawns and Rawas Tawa Fry. Don’t forget to accompany the meal with sol kadhi.
One can keep going back to this place to feast on seafood.

Love the Thalis and almost everything else on the menu. Absolute value for money! The restaurant offers the freshest and authentic Malwani cuisine in Mumbai and is a great place to get the real taste of Mumbai. Besides, everything is served in generous proportions.
I came across this restaurant on Zomato itself and thought of ordering some fish delicacies. And I wasn't disappointed! They offer the best squid delicacies I have eaten in Mumbai! I had ordered Butter Garlic Squid (and have re-ordered it multiple times since) and was bowled over by the taste, the quantity and the quality of the squid provided. Bombil fry was well cooked and sumptuous! All in all, this is a value for money option for everyone living in the vicinity and please do not miss out on Butter Garlic Squid!

The seafood menu covers more or less everything that's available in Mumbai and much more in vegetarian and non vegetarian meals.

It is a small outlet which serves one of the best malwani cusine.
I tried black surmai tawa fry which was very tasty,bombil fry was the best and must try.
We also ordered prawns thali which had the perfect taste of konkon.
1 thali sufficed for 2 people,it had prawns fry,rice,prawns curry,dal and one veg sabji.
Many renowed people have visited this place and this level ups your expectation.So do visit this place and try the tasty malwani food.

I started off with Prawns Koliwada with a really soothing sweet-lile puri na chutney that went really well together. Went onto have a sumptuous meal consisting of Bhakti, Amboli and their special chicken curry. Visiting again, soon to hog on some more aquatic lifestyle! 😷😄
Dined on 13/Feb/21 Food was amazing as always. The Paya soup is a must have. Tandoori Pomfret is another must have recommendation. The oyster fry was surprisingly a spicy delicious treat. Moong dal was possibly the best I've ever had. Deserts are okay. Food is the main attraction.

Amazing culinary experience…each dish took me on a new journey of discovery, from the entrées of fried Bombay ducks to the fried leppos to the tesriyas, into the mains of a prawn curry, washed down with a solachi koddi. Thank you Howard for being the perfect host, I have been to many a malwani restaurant , but this was the best experience by far.

We had surmai thali and halwa thali. Excellent fry fish and fish curry . Solkadhi was great . Brinjal sabji with javla( dry fish) was yummy . Rice Bhakri option that we took was good . Best was the fried mandeli fish . It was totally fresh . Dal was there but I dont think that was necessary as Non veg people just put the dal away. They can do away with it . Very economical . Rs 1200 for 2 people ...is absolutely low priced . Excellent food. Thanks to them.
