Review Cafe Bharat - Mumbai

Rasikanand Harvind
Meh. Ok food. Good location, decent prices. Wasn't anything special. Service could have been quicker. Patrons were quiet. Not a very lively place. Practically no parking.

Ok Restaurant. Prices are perfect in low budget. Sitting arrangements are okayish. No parking available. Vegetarian options only available.

This is a good place for breakfast infront of Church Gate. Rates are average and quality also good enough. Parking is not available here, you can park car in pay and park area which near by this hotel with 50/- pr hr.
Ramakrishna Madha
Love this place, good ambience And good taste, affordable prices and many choices for food in menu. Highly recommend for breakfast and brunch.
The Food In Focus
Cafe bharat restaurant located just outside Churchgate railway station and is located here since over 80yrs. Their menu consists Chinese, north indian, south indian, maharashtrian. This place is quite pocket friendly and highly recommended for quick bites.. I had ordered Misal Pav and it was one of the best Misal Pav I've had.. will surely visit again soon
CA Soman Jana
Food wise and quality wise it's okay. The cost is very reasonable and compared to location it is best for college and routine travellers. Ordered delux thali at ₹120 per plate. It is majorly a snacks and chat food space. But one can definitely give a try.
Saiprasad Shelke
This is a good place which serves tasty food and is affordable to your pocket. It is just opposite the churchgate railway station.

The ambiance is inviting, offering a perfect spot to relax and unwind. However, while the atmosphere is commendable, I must admit that the food fell short of expectations. The menu had potential, but the execution left something to be desired. Despite this, the friendly staff and scenic location make it a worthwhile experience for a leisurely hangout.

We went for Lunch.. Good and tasty food. We ordered misal pav, Pav bhaji and Lassi..Lassi was yummy.. Reasonable price and fast service. This restaurant just outside churchgate stn.
sneha mhapsekar
Bharat cafe one of the best joint near churchgate station. It has been here since last 80 years. They serve all food at affordable prices and the taste is super yummm.
Tapasya Wadkar
I ordered butter pav bhaji and misal pav. The taste of Butter pav bhaji was really nice just like the authentic way and amount of butter they put in pav bhaji was the right amount no extra butter which mostly overpower the real taste of pav bhaji, Misal pav was good as well and the price of both dishes and rest of the food is reasonable. While paying I got to know that they don't accept online payment but the owner was very kind and he said its okay to pay after sometime without creating any chaos and after paying him he was very polite. Will surely visit again because of the good taste and nice attitude.

A rare customer experience...my bill was 110.I have given 500. At counter asked me whether I have 10 rupees. I said no. He returned 400 and said give 10 when you come again. I was so surprised. Then I searched my pocket and gave 10 rupees. You never find such courtesy.. Further note that, at same point one college student was paid his current bill along with his some small change balance,he might have left in his last time visit. Appreciate.....

Best Misal Pav I had in ages. It was closing time when I arrived there, but they served me well and I had Misal Pav with my brother. It was very delicious and tasty. It was very mouth watering. Unfortunately I couldn't click any photos here. I was starving so much that I forgot to click a picture. Everyone should try once. It's very close to Churchgate station but yes it closes by 7 pm. Hoping to eat here soon...

Amazing small place. Gets crowded very quickly. Amazing cheap pocket friendly and tasty food. Quick service and no hustle. Hyginic and clean place. Missal, cada ussal, coffee are best. Also serves lunch and other food items. Liked it. You should visit if you want tasty pocket friendly food.

It's a good place to have some food on your way. Taste is good. Service is quick and clean. Looks hygienic which is really important. Also I like the service here as people are there to help you with your need and staffs are very humble. It deserves 4 star.
Ajaya Kumar
Standard tasty food at reasonable rate. Superb location, opposite to Churchgate railway station
Naufil Mirsinge
Budget eatery for a simple humble thali. Even the special lunch version appears quite modest. Drop in if you prefer basic food without any razzmatazz.
Normal menu with decent variety and accordingly the prices also.
Riya Barve
Nice food, polite staff, fast service, good for office staff and students, taste is good!

This cafe is not the Cafe as in CCD but a practical fast food serving place. Close to the Churchgate station and the colleges surrounding it, Cafe Bharat is home to the working class and students alike! Hope in for a cuppa chai or Sabudana vada... puri bhaji and the likes. Food is all yum and affordable at the same time. These are the kinna places that truly cater to the palate and the wallet of the masses... Fancy is far from happening... you may even have to share a table but that's the thing with old school,,, they make you nostalgic in so any ways.

Nice place to visit with family. Delicious food. Ambience is okay but food is worth it. Cheap prices. Very affordable. Hygiene is well maintained.

Very third class service. Also the staff is not polite. Cards and payment wallets such as paytm and google pay are not accepted. Terrible experience.

This is a very pocket friendly place just outside Churchgate station. They've got all your South Indian breakfast delicacies. I tried their Missal Pav and it was great. People on a budget. Take note.

The restaurant is easily reachable, just opposite to churchgate station. The service was quick and the items were in budget price. Good to have quick meals here.

So after a long day at colaba..we took a break here.
The place was not very well decorated but the taste will leave you amazed.

It's super convenient be reach here, it is just outside the church gate station.

There dosa's are super tasty.
We had dosa, idli vada, pohe, vada pav and tea.

It's very pocket friendly place and you will leave the place with lots of lots food.

All the ratings are for the food.

Excellent place to get a quick bite. All the items on the menu are wallet friendly. The thali is served till 4 pm which is great

Service is quick, beverages like tea are served in the outside space and there is no wait time.

The paneer masala was so tender and delicious and so was the biryani rice well cooked and moreover we ordered the paratha which was so healthy an filling..loved it!! And great reasonable price for the quantity received
Vinay Chitale
Great place to have pure vegetarian food ........ very cheap....... good quality and good taste.......quick service ...... good thalis perfect place for lunch
Mamta
A small cafe nearby MOD as soon as you come out from churchgate station. We were hungry but in no mood for burger or donuts that's when we came across this cafe and decided to give it a try. We had tea,Misal pav, express Thali and tomato omlette and everything was good in taste. The interior seems lil dull but again it's a good option for some hot Indian food on the go. It's very pocket friendly too. What grabbed my attention was their tomato omlette which is basically made from gram flour and tomato as cafe is pure vegetarian. No pics as had to eat n catch next local back home😉
Mehul Kulkarni
There is is two types of Thali. One is express and second is deluxe. I ordered deluxe thali. Thali was really fulfilled. Thali introduce many varieties of food like 4 vegetables, sweet, dal, curd, poori papad , sweet and veg pulao. It was typically south indian taste in this thali. Must try. Do visit.
Its nearest to churchgate station. Next to burgerking.
Value for money 8/10
Taste 7/10
Ambience 7/10

A small and decent place if you want to have some quick Maharashtrian bites. Mostly crowded very well known in the area for their food and surely not for their service. Don't expect a good service but you can expect some good food here.
Dishes tried:
Misal Pav: Their misal pav is quite good, would recommend it. I normally don't ask for extra bread if I don't like the misal but I really liked this.
Masala dosa: Wanted to see if this place only serves good Maharashtrian food or other cuisines also. Their masala dosage is decent nothing extraordinary and okay for a Maharashtrian cuisined place.

To finish your lunch or breakfast you can have their fresh lime soda or a glass of Lassi.
Location: Bang opposite Churchgate railway station.
Service 2/5
Food 4/5
Ambience 2.5/5
Recommended 4/5
The drink name is Piyush. No doubt at first glance 🙄 it looks very simple and seems to be a normal drink like any other milk product drink but don't go in its simple look as I too had the same thought after looking at it but as soon as I had its first sip trust me it changed my each thought indeed a new carving for it came into me and I can now travel any number of miles now to have it to that extent I like it. It's a Marathi drink made from milk and it was damn damn amazing 😋. A must must try 💕

Cafe Bharat is right next to the station and an easy gem to find. Unfortunately, one can never reach at a time where their entire menu is available to be tried out. It's dirt cheap and the food fulfills.

The restaurant is well managed. It is hygienic, it has two seating spaces upper and lower and a standing space outside the restaurant so its easy to have quick food & head to your destination. Cuisine served is a mixup of Maharashtrian, Punjabi & South Indian food. All the dishes tends to give homemade food experience. Service is very quick, staff is very well behaved. This place is total "value for money". Best experience is having Deluxe Thali in lunch. Working & family groups mainly visit here.

OVERALL REVIEW:

Food - 4/5

Ambience - A small two-storyed noisy eatery.

Location - Opposite to Churchgate station. Easy to locate.

Service - 5/5
VERY fast service and good staff

Cost - 5/5
Pretty reasonable. A decent place to grab some snacks at reasonable price considering its sobo. It is situated exactly near to Burger King. Their idli was soft and filter coffee was okay.

Located just outside Churchgate station, this hotel is pocket friendly and serves good quantity of food. Had Mysore Masala Dosa. Chutney and Sambhar's quantity was plentiful. Overall taste was ok but dosa wasn't hot and took a lot of time to arrive as the hotel was crowded.

A best place to have a plate of Sumptuous Misal Pav,located just beside the Churchgate Station, will surely visit here again to try other dishes!

Cafe Bharat is hidden gem in Churchgate which has been established 80 years ago and famous for Maharashtrain and South Indian food.

So we have visited this plzce to try out their food and they have given more then what we have expected.

Misal Pav: This is one of there famous dish. This misal pav was unlike any we had so far. Hot spicy misal made with different grains topped with onions and tomatoes served along with pav.

Patti samosa :Crispy Patti samosa filled with vegetables deep fried in oil served along with mint or coriander chutney.

They also serve Delux thali which consist of Puri bhaji , chole , rice, gulab jammun, papad and many more items.

This place is mostly crowded so you have to wait in a queue to grab their delicious food.

For more update follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram: Foodtraveler14

Established almost 80 years ago, this place definitely deserves to be in the list of legendary places. It’s the perfect place for breakfast/ lunch/ snacks etc. and no wonder it’s packed all the time.

Food-
Misal Pav - I’m not a huge fan of misal Pav but this one at cafe Bharat is definitely the best in town and to support my claim, I saw one misal Pav at every table which just goes on to show how good it is.

Deluxe thali- If you’re going for lunch and lucky enough to get a table for yourself, don’t forget to call for this thali. It has daal, chole, puri, bhaji, Gulab Jamun and a few other items. This place is frequented by people who have been coming here for years to eat this. It was definitely filling.

Veg Patti samosa - Star performer. I do understand it’s a bit oily but a must have. It’s stuffed with vegetables which are mashed and goes really well with the chutney.

Puri bhaji - Being from UP, I crave some good puri bhaji sometimes and I must say now I’ve found a place that really lived upto my expectations.

Word to the wise - Don’t go by the rating of this restaurant. It’s a place that really offers VFM and will not disappoint you.

Fairly modest place for having Snacks.

Food is not so good. But, ya of course easy for pocket!

Everything is just ok taste!

Located outside Churchgate Main Station!
Tasneem Jariwala
A lovely place for thali. Economical and tasty food. Leave your finding experiences behind and you will enjoy this place. There are two thali options delux and express. Both of which are good.

This place is opposite Churchgate station.A very old place.I have been to this place many times.Never thought of takings pics actually in so many years.
A very modest approach towards food. You get your idlis, dosa, modal etc.A very satisfying encounter.
A very tasty and delicious food available here and even at a very reasonable price. I mostly prefer breakfast and fast food type lunch. It is a nice place with an appropriate ambiance and great food with various varieties at a very low price.

Variety of Simple and Tasty Food at an economic range. Taste gives a homely feel. Perfect junction for office goers for quick brunch. Prompt Service makes it more effective.
Note: do try the mild flavoured masala tak after food.

One of the places you might miss out while you are at churchgate station due to the fascinating names such as Burger king and M.O.D in the neighborhood. During lunch time it's completely packed you have to share tables. Also hard to get a menu during that time the Waiter's are in a solid struggle to fulfill the order's. What i found out here was their thali many peopleon our table ordered it. Although i had ordered for misal pav, usal pav and vada pav. Misal pav is a must try. Didn't like the usal comparatively to misal. Misal is a very famous Maharashtrian dish with farshan dipped in it.Also the vada pav is amazing in taste along with the chutneys, it gives you the street taste at the street price. Staff was kind and humble even during the rush hour. A extremely pocket friendly place.

Been here multiple times. Being new to Mumbai, I always used to avoid Misal Pav because of the way it looked but one of my friends made me eat here. And now it is the first item that I order here, EVERYTIME!
Don't miss the Meu Vada and Mysore Dosa. If you're looking for a hot/ cold beverage alongwith the food- you can have Chaas or the Filtered coffee to complete a sumptuous meal.
Natasha Swamy
Hopped in with friends for quick misal pav and chai. The misal pav was good and the masala added that extra taste. The kadai chai made the meal worthwhile..
Atalbihariji
Had been there only once. Ordered Idly Sambar. Was very curious as it was only for Rs.32/- far cheaper than any other nearby restaurant. I was served 2 small Idlys with very very less quantity of Sambar & Chutney which was hardly sufficient for even one Idly hence I had to call for extra Chutney & Sambar for which they charged Rs.10/- Extra. Means regular Idly Sambar will cost you Rs.42/- unless you are ready to eat dry Idlys.
Then I ordered Tea Rs.12/-. Again the Quantity was just that of Cutting.
In short i ended up spending 54/- for not so filing Idly Sambar & Cutting chai..
I think the low rates are just to attract customers & then over charge them.
Will never go back as it's Unhygienic, staff is highly lethargic / Arrogant & above that for the feeling of being cheated.
Satish Ghone
Exact outside churchgate station this joint is perfect for breakfast and i think its pretty mich old
idli medu vada pohe upma shera misal and usal pav utappa etc
Every waiter have their assiged table so if you try to tell other waiter your order he will just ignore you 😂
Still overall good service very fast
They do have thali system for lunch but i have not tried yet
Here comes a Great fulfilling food cafe...yes the name includes café but its a veg restaurant.. Serving varieties of lunch n snacks preparation...
This has always been a place to cure my hunger in churchgate area as its exactly opposite churchgate station..I have tried almost all dishes n thy r yummy...

This tym I planned for a Express thali

And the results were great fulfilling tasty n really a home made lunch preparation you wold get when you are out...
It had:
5 puri's
Aloo sabji
Tendhli sabji
Rice
Dal
Curd

The taste isn't five star restaurant one!!not for people looking out for stunning food....
Its for ppl looking out for simple home made fulfilling lunch..
Taste-4.5/5
Ambience-3/5
Quality-4/5
Price- 5/5
Go for this one!!!
Excellent place, with an amazing spirit.. One of the best misal pav, Batata Wada, sheera in the city. The Thalis are good too. What keeps us getting back to this place again and again, is their attitude and indomitable spirit to serve. Kudos..

Try this place and you will like it.
Small Place located at Indian Merchant Chambers Known for some VFM lunch be it the Express Thali @ 53/= or Deluxe at 63/=
Mahatashtrian Cuisine is good - Usal Pav / Dahi Misal is a must have and the Misal Pav ( spicy ) and not that Oily as compared to the other restaurants .
Must try is the fry Idli and the Wada usal ( good )

Service - Fast
Overall a nice place .. try it.
Ps. If You in a hurry morning 8 to 10 they have the Kanda Poha , Upma.
Mayank
Being lunch time I was a bit confused as to what I should have given the exhaustive list of choices available. But then being a lame Monday, with no mood to experiment I went with the deluxe thali.

For 63 bucks, the choices you have are many. You get 3 vegeis, 1 dal, 1 sweet, 5 puris, curd, and pulav, frankly it's surely a steal deal. The taste is decent, the aamras which came as a sweet was excellent. The service was quick, the only problem was hygiene. I was utterly disappointed to notice that the spoon that was served with the thali wasn't even washed properly and hence the 2.5 stars.

Overall, my experience was bad because I feel that a restaurant should atleast maintain a decent level of cleanliness and hygiene which bharat cafe lacks.
Troy Fabian Dsouza
Its a typical Udipi join, but you need to visit this place for their missal and ussal pav, its good. Nothing extraordinary simple and lite on the pocket type joint
RITEN SEJPAL
Previously also I have been to this place to eat thali, and it was value for money.I travel to churchgate everyday but to the opposite end of this place from where sahyadri hotel is nearer to me.but one day by chance, when I did not get to eat misal at sahyadri,I decided to try this place and just dropped in.
U will definetely give a miss to this place as it has MOD and Burger king as neighbours.Previously the same place was occupied by Satkar which now shifted near income tax office.
But once u r in neglecting the ambience,u get some treat for your appetite.one of the fine misal pav I have had.this was my second visit to this place and it got me hooked for some more and yesterday I had again been there.I m not into good looking places so I go anywhere to eat and give the place a try once.now for my third visit I ordered tomato omelette and it came to the table after good 15 min.but boyyyyy, wat to sayyyy.one of the BEST tomato omelette I have had here.go and try if u like stuffed omelette and u will find it amazing.not too many places in mumbai serve stuffed omelette with chick peas, carrots, maybe bottlegourd or it was cabbage, wateverrrrr.
It was simply delicious.
It's unique in mumbai to eat with three different people on one table and that way you can see the dishes wat others order.so my next visit is maybe in couple of days for rawa dosa, which loooked truly appealing.
Now it's not that everyone gets the same experience as me,but u have to try one more time, the place which has tickled your tastebuds.there are flaws in every place,as I read in reviews for this place, but where it isn't.this place is definetely a VFM and at least one time visit.

Bharat Cafe is located exactly opposite to Churchgate Railway station! One can prefer this place if he wants to eat a Maharashtrian Thali! Menu is fixed like Dal, chole, Gulab Jamun, Dahi, Sprouts, Puri, Pulao, except the vegetable that keeps changing daily! Not so pleasant But not that bad! Also they have options in South Indian Dishes!
Avani Dedhia
I have been to churchgate n marine lines since so many years but I never noticed dese resto
Not too spacious small but comfortable
Located just opp to churchgate station towards sea side dese place is best to have south indian meals n chat
Their breakfast menu includes upma, kanda poha n sheera which is served from 8am to 10am
I tried Onion uttapam which was the best so thick n fully loaded with tomato n onion
They have an upper section also
They provide maharashtrian cuisine also n also thalis in aftrnun
Very pocket friendly but no compromise on food quality
I wana definitely try breakfast menu
Must go guys

If your low on pocket and looking for a decent place to eat your search ends here. Total value for money with no compromise on taste. Must try : Misal Pav & Deluxe Thali
The_Vegetarian_Punjabi
Just opposite the churchgate station, this restaurant has braved the test of time.
Its easily a couple of decades old.
A visit here during peak breakfast/ lunch hours could leave you wondering what the whole fuss is about.

You'll see swarms of office goers bustling in and out, with their usual thalis rushing out of the kitchen no sooner than their arrival.
It's not uncommon for you to have to share your table with another stranger, so if that's not your cup of tea, I'd suggest you try someplace else.

However, for 50 bucks(recently hiked to 53), the thali is definitely filling. I've never fallen sick after a meal here, so the quality is decent. The taste is nothing extraordinary in all honesty, but if you're looking for a quick and filling meal, it can't hurt to try.
Also, order a delux thali if possible instead of the normal one. It's just a couple of bucks more, but you get a gulab jamun and a Veg pulav instead of normal rice. That makes it a great deal, and one that runs out of stock quite often.

Other than the thalis, the dosas and the missal pav are items worth trying out at least once. The menu is relatively quite limited, since this place is more like a well-done up canteen rather than a restaurant, but I've never not seen them crowded, so I'm guessing they have a good clientele. Congratulations for that!

Mazel Tov!
Gurbaksh Khanna.

This place is a great place to hog I'm after a days works and when u are a little low on cash.
It's a budget place that serves the best chai I know and great south indian food.
Must try

This is a small but bustling place right outside Churchgate station. It is relatively cheap compared to other restaurants.

This place is good for having breakfast and the occasional snack. Many people actually prefer to have lunch also.

The stand out dish which you can get here is without doubt the misal pav.
Madhuri Shah
Had been here for breakfast.. It's just small old kinda restaurant bt the food was delicious. We had ordered idli sambhar n misal.. Both were taste and yummy.. That too fit to pocket. All together gud place for breakfast.

Cafe Bharat, opposite Churchgate Station. Serving office goers and college students with special lunches but we are talking about its famous 'Missal Pav' spicy and tasty with its original authentic taste!

You should try once at least. We rate them 8/10 what do you think?

Price for 2: Rs. 100 approx.

#Thefoodiezhub #mumbai #MissalPav #spicy #food #EatShareBurp

I would term this as a common mans outlet. Located right opp to church gate station and next to satkar veg hotel. This old place is awesome joint for snacks and lunch. Must try:: bread slice, potato items, lunch thaali, misal

Its Sunday morning and after a disappointment from Shiv Sagar we switch at Cafe Bharat and guess what?? They surprise with the cost as well as taste. I wish we would have ordered a deluxe thali; but will surly try it later. We had Misal Paav, Chola Bhatura, and Tea. Quantity was ok and wish to have bit more, It was good experience and very low cost effective breakfast. So I will drop the ambience rating. Overall good time

Food: 3
Services: 3.5

It's a small food joint , the tables were dirty and even the utensils were not clean, food was average, samosa was deep fried and was oozing with oil, misal was OK, tea was sugary in taste.

Bang opposite Churchgate, this place used to be our adda during the Jai Hind days. A small place you may not want to enter basis first looks. But when you are in college, and these things dont bother you, you tend to find the little gems.

Bharat serves some amazing Misal Pav, Vada Pav, Dosa, Masala Chaas and Lassi. We would go round after round ordering these, and in the end, pay peanuts. Its been long since I went here, but I surely have some fond memories of this place.

Quite a known place near churchgate stn not for the reason of food (thali) which is so so but the cost is cheap. In Rs 62 you get a special veg thali nad it has puri, sabzi, pulav, dessert etc. i have not tried the thali here but my friend goes gungho about the prize at which he gets the thali so he is satisfied. Have tried misal/usal whose quality used to better but now have deteriorated a bit and the vada pav is also decent. Tea/Coffee is fine over here!!

The food is so-so. Veg thali is alright in accordance to the amount charged. Misal pav was kind of sweet. You will have to share table with people. All in all, it's a good place if you don't want to venture far from the churchgate station and have a quick meal.

Cafe Bharat used to be my usual stopover every morning, on my way to office in Bombay. I'd get off the local train at Churchgate, hop across the side street and enter this small restaurant, all ravenous. And every day, unfailingly, I'd order the same dish - misal pav. Cafe Bharat is solely responsible for making me fall in love with this quintessentially Maharashtrian dish.

Two fluffy pieces of pav would be on one part of the plate, and the aromatic misal on the other. The usal has the right mixture of masala, vatana and moong dal. It is topped up with delicious sev to make misal. And garnished with fresh coriander leaves and chopped onions.

Most times, I ended up overeating. No wonder, I had great difficulty in dragging my feet to office afterwards
.

This is a small restaurant just outside Churchgate Station and next to Suryoday departmental store. They serve authentic Maharashtrian snacks through-out the day. While they serve Thalis for the lunch and South Indian snacks in the evening.
All the food items served here are good in taste/quality and cheap on pocket. So, if you feel hungry and running out on a crunch budget, this is the place to go for.
One must taste the Kolhapuri misal here, which you can get it anytime. Even the Pohe, Potato Wada, Samosa tastes nice though their texture is oily. Their service is quick too.

All in all a good, decent place to satisfy your hunger

A very pocket friendly restaurant

Misal was OK..nothing special..

Patti samosa was refried and oozed plateful of oil..they need to reheat in an Owen..

The waiters here are rude.. And if u go to eat at odd time like 4pm, most of their special food items are not available. Have a good time. Enjoy !

Cafe Bharat is such a fine experience that it's been five years now and I still love to come every Saturday. The sumptuous thali just fills us in such a manner that we go to sleep on reaching home. The burps after having a meal at Bharat are the most satisfactory ones. The prices are pocket friendly. That's why so many people love the place. It so feels like the meals cooked at home, that you get your mom here and she loves it more than you do. Trust me when I say this is one of the best places in churchgate to have food. The misal pav is so so yum that you finish tens of pavs before giving it a rest.
Keep it up cafe Bharat. We love your services. And when I say, we love, it's our whole family, from the bottom of our.. not hearts.. but tummies!!

The cheapest and most sumptous food joint around churchgate! Always visit there for misal pav, puri bhaji and Piyush when around churchgate! Have taken many friends there when out of money :P It's healthy and tasty food for a negligible amount of money and just outside churchgate station!

This is a small restuarant cum lunch home and its opposite churchgate railway station and ususally crowded.

Ambiance:
None. Normal eating place and at times you might be also sharing a table with unknown people, ofcourse i.e. with your permission. They do try to keep it clean so for a quick cheap lunch, I guess its doable.

Food:
Missal Pav: I see its very famous here, because you will get this dish in less than 5 minutes of ordering. Its nice, spicy and pretty sufficient for one person.
Fried Idli: The crispiest I have had anywhere. The chutney is tasty. Try it
Rava dosa: One of the tastiest ones and with onions too. Its a bit oily but I guess thats just how it is. You can ask them to make it crispier as per your taste.
Potato chips: Normal and cheap. They serve you with curd and salt.

I have mostly eated their south indian and missal pav and I can say that if your looking for cheap yet filling food then this is the place to be. They do maintain cleanliness quite well.

Also, their filter coffee is simply awesome! Must try

Service:
Quick, courteous and make sure you leave quick too as people are always waiting :P

Cost here is the best factor and you can fill your stomach in say about Rs. 50-60.

Cafe Bharat is one of the oldest restaurant around. You may miss seeing this tiny little restaurant if you ain't a good observer. One can view it immediately after you step out of the Churchgate station.

My colleague always ordered food from Cafe Bharat however I was skeptical about the food as it appeared to be cheaper than other restaurants which are way too expensive.

After much speculation, I took an initiative to have a bite of an Idli and even tried the Misal Pav. I must say the chutney is nice and rich in taste and the Idlis were really puffy and soft.

The Misal Pav is really good however the quality differes sometimes. The other day the oil was really smelly and smelled liked re-used oil which is very unhealthy.

I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for good south Indian snacks or lunch.

It's well priced and value for money with sufficient quantity.

One word saviour for me when i was very less in cash in my pocket.
I used to go the class at near to churchgate station that to even in early morning class of 7.30am
without any thing in stomach all of us my other class mate we used to be in lecture till 10 after which we were allow to go home or had extra break in the class.

In that break we used to go to this place at very first instance we dint thought we should go inside as its just a regular cafe and all crowd was outside of cafe to have tea and its very near to the station that was the reason there is so Rush since early morning.

There is another resatau also which is quite fancy very next to it but looking at the pocket we decided to go to the Cafe Bharat

We were very happy when we saw the menu and the price tag along with it :-P

so we order Batata Wada and Misal Pav and Kothimbir Wadi and Poori Bhaji all four if us order everything different and deiced to share looking at the price we thought taste will be okay but who was caring for taste for such less price our motto was to get full stomach.

Trust me the price i would say value for money because the taste was really good all the item accompanied with Nariyal Chutney and Turrey(curry) for the rest dishes

We were so happy and form that day we had not late even a single day without going to cafe bharat
Our re union happpend here only so this is one of the best memories i had here

I go here at times in the morning for nice cup of Tea, a Vada Pav and plate of Misal. I do like the misal, but at times it just seems watered down. Overall service is pretty good. It is quiet relaxing in the morning to sit and enjoy your breakfast while doing your morning reading.

I have been eating at this restaurant for the past decade and personally i find this place the best in terms of price and quality...The food quality is extremely good and the prices are really easy on the pocket, which for any Mumbaikar is a big blessing.. People keep harping about ambiance not being good and the food not up to the mark, well that's a sacrifice one has to make for lower prices. There are plenty of restaurants nearby who cater to the ambiance and decor but charge you around 200 for a single meal. Cafe Bharat charges you about 75 for the same but in a quick and non-fussy manner.

I can understand some of the reviews given below are due to some levels of disappointment but this hotel is a boon for all the middle class workers who frequent the place due to it's affordability.

I'd personally recommend the misal pav at any time of the day here, also their dosas are quite up to the mark along with the Kharvas.

If you want a quick no non-sense meal with affordability then this is the place you are looking for. Else for ambiance and decor there isn't a shortage of restaurants in the Churchgate area.

An occasional visit to Churchgate helped me find one genuinely 'value for money' place. Located right outside Churchgate Station, Cafe Bharat offers the Mumbaikar a humbling experience. I visited the restaurant somewhere between 5-6pm and was pleased to find office goers returning home stopping here for a light bite and then heading to the station. We ordered for a Misal Pav and a Samosa plate. The Misal was delightfully spicy and the samosas were well cooked. Impressed, we then ordered for a Masala Dosa and relished it. Finally, a cup of tea at the end summed up a satisfied meal.

The service is prompt, the ambience comfortable and most importantly, all the items are reasonably priced. If you are looking for good fast food in Churchgate, this place is a definite visit.

Definitely going back to this one soon. Cheers :)

I am a regular visitor to Cafe Bharat since the past 15 years. This is the perfect place for students/middle class people since they offer better quality food than the roadside hawkers at the same price.
A very old and trusted place located just outside Churchgate station for the past 60 years, everything on the menu is extremely tasty ,specially famous for Misal Pav and Thali in the Churchgate area.

The interiors are very simple which reflect the hotels motto of keeping the food cheap and affordable for all.
During lunch hours you may have to share a table since it is almost always crowded.

All in all, if you are looking for a no-nonsense place to have a quick lunch which is good on quantity, hygenic and affordable on your wallet this is the place you are looking for.
