As the name suggests this place serves best of delicacies from South India.

🍚FOOD: This restro is clubbed with other 2 restros which are famous for Gaon and Maharashtran cuisine and hence their is a wide menu and you can order dishes from all 3 cuisines. I ordered the best of dishes from all 3 cusines. For Starters go for Cashew Croquettes, Pepper fry Paneer and Artipoovu Vada. For mains we had lemon rice with Veg Malabar Curry. In Drinks we tried Tiranga and Mango Mocktails.

🎸AMBIENCE: Nice vibrant interiors and good crowd. Live music with guitar that too of your choice is something which everyone likes. Owner and staff are very friendly and courteous.

Dakshin Culture Curry is a great place for experiencing some traditional and authentic South Indian dishes. Its a part of 3 restaurants which are under a single roof along with Goa Portuguesa and Diva Maharashtracha. The ambience is also very pretty. The food served here had that authentic touch and was very flavourful.

We had Andhra Chicken and Pepper Prawns Fry for starters, the taste was simply amazing.
Melon Cooler was a fresh and delicious mocktail.
Chicken Chettinad is a must try here with freshly made Appams..it was mouth-watering. Ended the meal with the classic Shahi Tukda!

Staff was very courteous and helpful. The owner is also very friendly. Service is good too. Overall a great place to enjoy your meal with friends and family. Must visit!

It's one of the best place for dinner.I visited this place on the eve of Independence Day.

Food:

Starters:
We had ordered mix veg and cashew rolll which was very much appealing as it was stuffed with veggies and cashewnuts which is peculiar Goan product.Then we had cornbell and pepper crackers which was in the form of gravy which was soupy with paneer pieces in it.Further we ordered paneer babycorn mush pepperfry which had sufficient quantities of mushroom,babycorn prepared along with paneer.Also we had ordered cottage cheese which was amazingly crispy and was served with red sauce.At the last we had ordered banana flower vada which was delicious and crispy.

Mocktail :
As it was independence day,they had kept a special mocktail which was 'Tiranga Mocktail'.It was extremely heartening since it had 3 layers orange,white and green resembling our national flag.Then we enjoyed alphonso delight which was mouthwatering one.In this rainyseason we could very well enjoy the seasonal mango pulp in the mocktail.

Maincourse :
We had ordered kooru curry which had the gravy made up of Rajma and beans with coconut milk which was very delicious to have with lemon rice.

Dessert :
We had bibinca which was made up of egg and yolk in different layers.

Ambience:
It gives you the feel to be in Goa.It's the best place as it is decorated by keeping into mind the theme of Goan culture.Also a guitarist was there who came at every table and sang soothing melodious songs.So it gives you a best experience to enjoy food with wonderful songs.

Staff:
All the dishes are prepared by Master Chef Deepa and even the owner Suhas comes to greet everyone at the table like its a culture in Goa.Also they say 'Sushegad' which means to have your dinner slowly.
Staff is extremely friendly and approachable.

Do visit this place in you are in Mahim.A good place for Goan people as well as vegetarians.

This place reminds me of the diverse Indian cultures and their cuisines. I tried my luck with most of the amazing seafood under the Goan n Maharashtrian menu, and I was in love with it all.
The cherry on the cake was this singer with a guitar by the name Neelkanth. Live music n amazing food was a cray cray combination.
Mr Baban helped us with the great food.

Visiting a restaurant such as Dakshin Curry Culture is a milestone in the life of a foodie.

This particular milestone had managed to evade me for a long time but I have eventually achieved it.

Situated right around the corner of mahima lane, this place not only serves some of the best food in Mumbai but also probably in Asia. If you follow me and my blog you will know that I am a fish lover. So Dakshin Curry culture was a total treat.

Let me start with the ambiance which is contemporary traditional. It has a beautiful sitting arrangement, a lot of insignia of the south, an artificial banana tree, a live dosa station and some gorgeous interiors.

The establishment has reached such peaks thanks to the owners Dr Suhas Avchat -a hard working restauranter and food enthusiast along with his wife Deepa Awchat- a prominent chef and author. She has also launched a line of special masalas featuring specialities of the outlet.

I visited this place with my mother and she was impressed as well with both the interiors and the amount of detail that the owners had put into the place.

Between us we wanted to taste the actual Dakshin food. Thus this is what we called for.

Mutton pepper fry: Fragrant well cooked pieces of mutton, that had a lovely taste of curry leaves green chillies garlic and Ginger. Delicious! It is melted in the mouth. Totally recommend this dish to those who like me enjoy some yummy mutton without tons of fat in it.

Alphonso Delight: delicious fresh Alphonso mango mocktail served in a Margarita glass coated with some salt on the rim of the glass. Delicious! It captured the season of Summer perfectly.

Mango Margarita: This one doesn't need a lot of explanation you have to taste to know a good it was.

Rawas Porichatu: succulent pieces of fresh rawas fish tried to perfection. Totally yum! Highly recommend this.

Rawas kozambu: Curry comes in various forms but this one will bowl you over. Thick and nice, the Kohzumbu was so

Prawns raw mango curry: bye for this was one of the most delicious curries I have tasted in the City. Super delicious, fragrant, yummy prawns and just overall drool.worth. A simple coconut based Curry with pieces of raw mango I am sure it will win your heart. You should definitely call for this.

Lemon rice: lemon rice with mustard seeds and chilli. A great pairing for my prawn curry.

Shahi tukra: one of the The delicacies of Hyderabad, the Shahi tukra is literally a piece of bread that is made Royal binding pieces of dry fruit rabdi silver foil and chasni. This one was served nice and warm and was heavenly. Reminded me of the shahi tukda that we had in BashirBagh- Hyderabad.

Wattalappam: this is like an ice cream but made from coconut milk ok and other ingredients. World's not my favourite it definitely took me on a food trip to South India.

Neer dosa: These dosas are literally like face napkins. Thin soft and squishy. This is the best way to enjoy all the seafood. Pair the curry and the fried fish with neer dosa and you are sorted.

Kerala Paratha: agnatha great compliment to a good curry is the Kerala paratha. I enjoyed the rawas kozhambu with this.

Orverall this is a great place for not only special occasions but you truly taste the food of South India. Reasonably priced this definitely should be on your must visit places in Mumbai.

I highly recommend that you go in a larger group so that you can taste many more dishes as the quantity is also good.

I’ve been to fat legion a few times now and every time the service and the food has been really good. The only issue inside the music is quite loud!

Ambiance: The good thing about the place are the numerous seating options,the small tables out side or just the standing area near the bar. All the places are cozy and fun to hang around. The walls are very well decorated with a 90s look and the view from the terrace is amazing.

Food: Over the last few times I’ve tried the food, few of the big plates like the teriyaki rice with chicken, lamb and mashed potatoes, pizza, cheese balls and a couple of other dishes. Some of my favourites are the lamb, fries and the cheese balls. The food is quite good here and the service is fast, unless you go on a busy weekend.

1) I have a special appreciation for a restaurant that serves good Goan & South Indian Sea Food.
2) While doing that, they provide a professional & polite service.
3) The location also matters.

The third point has little relevance usually. But for Dakshin Culture Curry it ha made a huge impact. The place was almost fully occupied at 8:00 pm on a Wednesday when we visited.
And that did not affect the service here at all. It was as smooth and comfortable as it could always be.
Now, when I talk about service, the waiting staff, the kitchen staff and the manager.... Everybody is equally energetic and respects the concept of hospitality.

While service did impress me the most here. The food quality is up there very close to it.
I love South Indian Cuisine, let that fact be out there. Now, that being said, I can declare that this is one of my favourite restaurants now.

* Chicken Chettinad: It was medium spicy by default, which really worked well for me. If you need it spicier, better mention it beforehand.
* Prawns Kozhambu: The flavour of Tamarind shows its good presence. And that particular flavour differentiates it from any other medium-spicy gravy from their main course menu.
* Rawas Pollichathu: Oh! That soft Rawas.... Perfectly marinated and spiced. This is a must try.
* Mirapakai Kodi: That basically is "Andhra Chicken". On the spicier side, the spice mix (especially the higher quantity onion) is what makes it so good. Loved it!

I think I loved my meal here majorly for the desserts...
* Wattalappam: This Jaggery & Coconut milk based pudding comes as a bliss. Such sweetness is grand for a dessert fanatic like me.
* Shahi Tukda: A classic... Not too sweet, perfectly balanced. I think it would go really well after some "spiciest" main course items.

A dinner here was a great experience. Dakshin Culture Curry is made for Family and Friends. It packs a lot of surprises too. I am Thankful for a decent, yet so impressive culture.

The dakshin culture curry located at Mahim west close proximity to matunga as well is a well known restaurant for sea food lovers it serves a whole lot of varieties of sea food from prawns to rawas. A must try restaurant well suited to our pockets. Service is good. Ambiance is good.

Mutton pepper fry___ Pieces of lamb fried in onion and pepper.

Rawas porachattu___Rawas was to die for fresh pieces of rawas marinated in red Masala rolled on a banana leaf and fried.

The main course

Prawns raw mango curry___Pieces of prawns cooked in coconut curry.

Rawas Kuzhambu ____The fish cooked in a tamarind based curry with lot of spices .

The breads specially the appam was a treat to the eyes accompanied by neeer dosa.

Dessert

Wattlappam___pudding made of jaggery and coconut milk and flavoured with cinnamon. It was delicious.

Shahi Tukda___Bread fried in milk with lots of rabri and garnish with lots of cashew. It was tasty.

Overall good experience. Must visit this place. Highly recommended.

- Appams- These were the highlight if the evening. They had a live counter for appams and hence appams were freshly made and served to the table hot. Super tasty.

Dessert-
- Shahi Tukda - Perfect ending to a delicious meal.

All in all a good experience.
The speed of service is a little slow and can be improved.

The ambiance is one of the best I have ever visited with a banana tree inside the restaurant, the live counter makes appam in front of you, the most authentic food I have had in a long time.

Lovely typical south indian food , seldom south indian food is served beyond idlis and dosa.
The blend of nonveg and south indian spices was done very well... the way they entertain people with live music is the most happening thing about the place . The staff is very friendly and attends everyone well.

I went to Dakshin culture restaurant with my Mom, sister, brother in law and little princess my niece. Goa Portuguesa in Mahim located near Hinduja Hospital, it is now 34 years young restaurant. The ambience was lovely warm and welcoming. The staff was quick, polite and helpful. It was pleasure meeting Dr Suhas Achuchat. Now coming to the food, What we had: Soup Crab Kalimiri soup. It was spicy crab meat soup. Cream of chicken soup: it was creamy chicken soup. Cream of veg soup : It was creamy soup with lots of finely chopped vegetable like carrots, green peas. Starters Stuffed Crab - Crab stuffed with minced crab meat, spices and onion and top with grated cheese. Ukdiche Keema modak it was mutton Keema stuff modak, unique dish. Crispy fried bombil: it was crunchy outside and soft inside. Koliwada style prawns. It was prawns fried in koliwada style. Paneer bali bali: it was soft paneer cubes in goan style red masala. A bit spicy and tangy. Desert: Bebinca: It is the Goan dessert. It’s a layered cake/pudding hybrid made from coconut milk, eggs, sugar and ghee. It takes hours to prepare The Bebinca had neat uniform layers it was delicious my niece relished it. Wattalappam: It is Kerala style pudding made of jaggery, coconut milk and cardamom. Strawberry Pancetta: it was special dish full of strawberries just yummy.

Dakshin culture specializes in various South Indian dishes. The ambience is so quaint and beautiful. The bright lights and soft music makes it so peaceful and enjoyable. The menu has vast range of dishes, with fish preparations, chicken, mutton. Their motto is that South Indian cuisine is much more than Idlis and Dosas. What we ordered: In Starters 🍢 🔸Fish Fry Porichaphu 🐟❤️ This was a very tempting dish. Pomphret which was nicely marinated was served in red masala and fried. It had a nice tangy sweet taste. The covering was crisp with hint of spices and the sauce served along was tangy sweet. A must try! 🔹Spice Rubbed Rawas ❤️💯 Rawas fish marinated with spices and yogurt and nicely grilled. The flavors were soaked in the fish. The dish was so well prepared that all I wanted to eat was this yummy Rawas. My new favorite. In Cocktails 🍹 🔸Cosmopolitan 🍸❤️💯 Our usual favorite. This Cocktail was well prepared. Just the way I like it. Nothing can ever go wrong with Cosmo. Went perfectly well with the starters. 🔹Mango Margarita 🍹❤️ This was tangy sweet due to the mango flavor but again a yummy boozy drink. Well served with sugar coated at the rim. It was an eye candy. In Mains 🍛 🔸Prawns Manglorean Sukkha 🍤❤️💯 This was a delight. If you want something light to go with your breads then this is it. This was so flavorful and tasty. Hint of all the spices nicely marinated in prawns. The prawns were in good number and juicy. 🔹Chicken Chettinad 🍲❤️❤️💯 This was the best Chicken Chettinad. Spicy and tasty, with so many flavors. I could eat it everyday. Just like homemade gravies but much more flavors and spices. Too yum. A must must try here. 🔸Malabar Paratha It was served hot and crisp. Went really well with Chettinad gravy and the chicken pieces. 🔹Appam ❤️ They've a special counter to make appams. And my mum loved it to the core that through out the meal she had more of appams. Beautifully made and served steaming hot. 🔸Neer Dosa Soft and light. Non sticky and thin slices. The beauty of neer dosa. Just perfect. In Desserts 🍦 🔹Shahi Tukda ❤️ Fried bread stuffed with rabdi. The rabdi was so so good. Specially made by the chef. It was full of rich milky flavors. 🔸Watalappam 🍮❤️💯 Similar to our beloved custard but a famous South Indian dessert made from Coco and jaggery. Only if you taste it then only you can understand what I'm saying. It was so soft and tasty. Loved it! The service is a bit slow, but once you taste the food you'll be on a joy ride. The food is so well prepared and so delectable. Each dish is pretty unique and delicious. It is a melange of flavors dancing in your mouth. The servers are well trained and will help you with your selections. You'll definitely leave with a happy stomach and a smile on your face.

Dakshin Culture Curry is a great place for experiencing some traditional and authentic South Indian dishes. Its a part of 3 restaurants which are under a single roof along with Goa Portuguesa and Diva Maharashtracha. The ambience is also very pretty. The food served here had that authentic touch and was very flavourful. We had Andhra Chicken and Pepper Prawns Fry for starters, the taste was simply amazing. Melon Cooler was a fresh and delicious mocktail. Chicken Chettinad is a must try here with freshly made Appams..it was mouth-watering. Ended the meal with the classic Shahi Tukda! Staff was very courteous and helpful. The owner is also very friendly. Service is good too. Overall a great place to enjoy your meal with friends and family. Must visit!

Dakshin Culture Curry The South Indian Cuisine Restaurant which is located in Mahim, is one of the Most famous Restaurant which serves South Indian Cuisine. We were surprised that the Restaurant has 3 parts, which serve 3 different cuisine, Maharashtrian, Goan and South Indian. All three Restaurants are owned by Mr. Suhas Awchat and Mrs. Deepa Awchat, who is the Famous Chef of India. Mr. Suhas himself meet and greets each and every person in the Restaurant. The Restaurant has an Amazing Ambience, plus there is Live Music for the Dinner. It is a must visit place with family. I visited the Restaurant on 9th May for my Lunch. The Man, Normam D’souza help us to choose the Perfect Menu for the Day. This Restaurant has a live Appam Counter as well. Appam here were best. Truly Amazing. What We Had - Cocktails 1. The Royal Cream - Chocolate and Whiskey based Cocktail. Worth a try. 2. Platinum Whiskey Sour Starters 1. Andhra Chicken - Chicken with Masala of Southern Style. Spicy and Delicious. Recommended. 2. Fried with Green Masala Prawns - The prawns were so fresh, very Soft and Juicy. The masala was just amazing. Tastes best with the Chutney they serve. Highly Recommended. Mains 1. Prawns Kozambu - Prawns Curry with a Little bit of Tangy Taste. 2. Chettinad Chicken - Chicken Chettinad is the Famous Andra Chicken Dish. It was a bit Spicy. The Chicken Pieces in it were tender. Both the Mains were Simply Startling. Breads with this mains were well suited. Specially the Appam and the Neer Dosa. Dessert 1. Shahi Tukda Overall it was an Perplexing experience here. The Staff here is Gregarious. The Service was Quick. Will visit the Restaurant again Soon.

We had gone for Onam sadhya. Food was very testy and authentic. Service was very good. Enjoyed Onam Sadhya with friends. Lovely ambience tasty food. Had veg sadhya.. There was around 26 unlimited items and it was very reasonable price Rs.795. Ambience was good. Kudos to the restaurant for an exceptional Onam Sadhya experience! The dish options, whether savored on-site or as takeaway, were a true feast for the senses.

I visited Dakshin Culture Curry and enjoyed the most amazing Onam thali ever. The ambiance and Decor was totally outstanding .The taste and Flavour of the thali was amazing. Felt like I was actually in the southern part of India eating my food. It did showcase the festive spirit of Onam. Service was amazing. Though the Restaurant was packed the staff was attentive and courteous. They explained each and every dish(as what has what flavour and what it is made of). Overall it was an amazing experience in understanding the Onam festival and South Indian culture. I would highly recommend this place to try their huge variety of South Indian food.

This Place serves veg and non-veg cuisines from Kerala, Chettinad, Andhra, Hyderababd, Manglore and Coorg in a South Indian Decor. This place is Easy to Locate. They also have show kitchen where we see preparation of appam live. Another good thing is parts of profits are donated to a charitable Institute. This Place has earned a lot of recognition Nationally and Internationally as well. The Ambience Completely Reminds you of South India. The Exotic Southern Cuisines are prepared by Authentic cooks from Dakshin. The cuisines are modified and standardised to suit the Mumbaikar's Palates by Executive Chef Deepa Awchat. The Owner themselves come up to the table and asked us whether we liked the food and our experience. WHAT I TRIED :- 1) Kozhi Rassam :- Its like a Spicy version of rassam with chunks of chicken in it. This is perfect for spice lovers. Chicken was well cooked and the rassam was very flavourful. The spices definitely remind you of the coastal cuisine. 2) Thakkali Rassam :- This is the vegetarian version of rassam. Not as spicy as the chicken one. This was rather tangy. One of the best part of this soup was the balance of flavour was really good. The consistency of rassam is lighter than a soup hence this is a great option. 3) South Indian Chaas :- This was a very unique chaas, having a mild tadka flavour this is something I highly recommend you'll to try. Very Delicious and very unique. This chaas is currently one of the best one that I have had. 4) Banana Flower Vada :- Banana Flower vada was something new for me, I was trying it for the first time. It tasted kinda like a mix of onion pakoda and kothimbir vadi. Crispy coating on the outside and the quantity of this dish was also good enough for upto 4 people. 5) Andhar Chicken (Mirapakai Kodi) :- Chicken sautéed in onions and spices and topped with grated coconut. The chicken was very well cooked and the spices were medium spicy and the crunchy bits of grated coconut made it a little sweet-spicy combo. They also have a live appam kitchen area This place is a mini south India of Mumbai and their food made us go gaga. At a point we felt why weren't we South Indians ! What we tried , Kozhi Rassam - Chicken cooked with Tomato and Spices Thakkali Rassam - Lentils cooked with Tomato and Spices Banana Flower Wada - Dumplings of Banana flower wada mixed with onions, Currey leaves, groundnut powder fried and served with coconut special chutney Andhar Chicken (Mirapakai Kodi) - Roasted chicken sauted with onion , spices and garnished with grated coconut Rawas Porichattu - South Indian styled fish fried in red spice masala and served in banana leaf Mutton Pepper Fry - Meat sauted with onion and black pepper It was so soft and tender and cooked to perfection Mutton Stew - Meat tempered with green chillies and cinnamon and made in coconut milk This one was also super amazing to taste Prawns with Raw Mango Curry ( Cheeman Managacharu ) - We have never had cooked raw mango ever.. this one was so yummy and the prawns taste crazy good. Dropped by for a particular dish that my friend said that I have to eat - The Wattalappam. It was delicious. They did have many more dishes that I want to try but that will be for another day.. Loved the interior decor and the staff there were quite helpful (especially since my friend asked for sweet appam!!) in helping us get the right dish.
