Review Punjabi Moti Halwai - Mumbai

Devendra Newaskar
My 1st visit, but it was just exceptional when you check their rates for every item. Rates take you at least 15-20 years back in time, without any compromise on quality or quantity. Plus, the owner is very down to earth who simply cares for his old customers. No doubt they are still in business after 60+ years.

When u r in Fort area ur feet can't stop u from going into this restaurant... It has more than 70 Years Legacy serving best Punjabi food in town with good quality oil & reasonable price. Definite try here is Dal Pakwan, Samosa & Pattice Chhole, Chhole Bhature or Puri, Aaloo Paratha & Special Lassi. Staff here is very courteous, helping u in giving each product accurate info. Place is neat & clean. In short 100% try this if u r true foodie to get satisfactory taste.

Its nearly two years since i retired, but that dosent stop me from getting my periodic ‘fix’ of Punjabi Moti Halwai pure veg offerings.. something me and my dear friend Nitin have been relishing for over 40 years! Glad nothing has changed, as we used to hop across during lunch for their seasonal veg-of-the day.. be it their baingan-bartha or karela-pyaaz, accompained with dal fry, chapatis, a side dish of ragda pattice, finaly to be washed down with their creamy timeless Lassi!!! Infact this place is soo well known for lassi that patrons crowd outside this foodie haven just for a quick cooler before merging in the constant energy field known as ‘aamchi mumbai’ A bare to basics eatery, for those who dont care for gloss and fluff- a must visit place!

Best lassi in Mumbai! Puri chole was also spicy and tasty, and price is cheap too!

Came to this Hotel for veg lunch after more than 5 years, and was more than happy not only with the food, but also the better furnished look of the hotel than earlier times.
Pratiksha Devshali
It was a neat clean Punjabi vibes place in the heart of Mumbai. The staff was cordial, preparations were tasty and seemed to be hygienic. They have a lot of famous punjabi food items on the menu along with some dairy products and sweets. Overall a good place to have meal or a dessert or both.

Ok kind of place. I have some legacy food from North India. Sales are brisk but overall this place needs a lot of care and maintenance because if you are making people sit and eat, you cannot convert the sitting area into a storage, atleast not in Mumbai.
Purva Chonkar
Good service quality and great food quantity with pocket friendly rates. If you visit here don't forget to try their lassi and chas!
Zubair Loladia
One of the best please to eat in Fort, Fountain Area. Best Vegetarian food. Aloo Paratha is a must try.
ronak thakkar
Special Lassi topped with almonds and an inch and a half of thick malai. Must try for lassi lovers. Had Chole Bhature, surprisingly light on the stomach, hardly oily.
Ninad Acharya
Samosa and Wada was awesome. Liked the Chhole puri, milk cake and Gajar halwa. Restaurant is pocket friendly.

Rabdi & Gulabjamun tastes good. In terms of delivery very irresponsible. Don't trust them incase of delivery.
R Irani
A humble dine in serving one of the best samosas in SoBo. Chole pattice is also good and so are the sweets. It is usually occupied on weekdays with the working crowd since food is good and at very affordable prices. Meals are served during lunch hours as well. Must visit if you are near Fountain.

Good quality vegeterian food at reasonable rates is available at this restaurant. They are in service of food & sweets since many decades. Punjabi Sweet Lassi and Khara Lassi & punjabi hot samosas are very famous at this place. Their is always rush of people during lunch hours because of quality food served here and also clean hygienic atmosphere maintained by the management.🥣🍽🍴

The people who don't know about this place have obviously missed out on some lip smacking meals. The Chole & Samosa are probably the best in all of Mumbai and it doesn't end there. They have got alot of other delicious things. Gulab Jamuns will probably melt in your mouth.🤤
Shubhangi Nagaria
Hands down, this is the best place for lip smacking gulab jamun which literally just melts in your mouth. Also, the heart soothing lassi - way too scrumptious! Please do visit this place if you are around fort.

I had gone to shopping at Churchgate with my friends & after a tirey day, my friend suggested us to eat at Punjabi Moti Halwai at Fort as he knew there we get sweets & good food over there as he used to work there nearby<br/>We ate some good boondi sev, rabdi & milk cake<br/>The sweets were very tasty. recommended for all
Rajat Rawal
Good option in meal, roti sabji paratha, is snacks samosa Dal pakwan and mouthwatering sweets jalebi, Rabdi, gajar halwa too delicious, lassi must try.

A halwai right in the middle of the city, who would have thought.<br/>The ambience is typical;the entrance displays an array of sweets, a counter for lassi and typical tables and chairs.<br/>Punjabi moti halwai in that sense is quite huge.<br/>Loved the dahi kachori chaat, absolutely flavorful;comes with chole and slightly sweet dahi.<br/>Do not miss this one.<br/>The gulab jamun was well made too.<br/>Dying to return to try their chole bature and lassi.<br/>

Punjabi moti halwai in fort is located in the same lane as os Yazdani bakery. A good place for light snacks to a day’s meal. The ambiance is spacious with big long tables which can be shared by any visitors at the peak time. <br/>Mainly famous for samosas, dal kachori, moong daal bhajiyas, dak pakwan, and a very special lassi is what has brought it to highlight of the visitors. They serve any item fresh and staff service is good too.
Harshada Veturkar
It's famous for lassi, we had paneer paratha and aloo paratha. It was ok types as the paratha was thick but the stuffing in it was very less, in that aloo paratha was good. Paneer paratha should be little spicy. Also we tried Gajar Halwa but not at all tasty, actually it was half cooked. Overall it's good.
Dev Ohol
Nothing Punjabi in this restaurant as expected. But you'd love the taste. Usually a crowded place as its located in the heart of the city. The ambience is not so good looking but the tasty food takes away all.<br/><br/>Ordered chole bhature, bhature were very soft and fresh. Veg pulav is something everyone should order here as you will be offered a authentic pulav in basmati rice with all the vegetables you can imagine of. BUT!!! THE LASSI IS THE USP OF THIS PLACE. A MUST TRY.!!<br/><br/>If you are in the Fort area and craving for some good quality food then this is the place you wanna be at.
Utkarsh Mankad
SPECIAL LASSI! Moti lassi wala. The place has its own legacy. The shop has a different section in which lassi was prepared in its orginal style like a proper lassi making tool and there was cuttings of newspaper sticked in that section showing how renowned moti lassi. We all have many types of lassi with different flavour but this lassi from its look only tempt you to have it. It was chilled and the malai on it was so spongy and over and above it was garnished with dry fruits made the lassi delicious. A must try 💕

An age old eatery with rustic old practices but fortunately they serve ultra fresh food. <br/><br/>Happening place meant just for eating rather an extremely fast bite. <br/><br/>There is nothing which is punjabi about them the food is fresh and ok. If one is looking for some authentic punjabi stuff u wud be disappointed. <br/><br/>The koftas with rotis is extremely popular and good. <br/>The chole lack a punch. <br/>The lassi is ok. <br/><br/>The verdict<br/>Quick bite? Walk in else walk out!!!

Tucked in the small lanes of Fort serving some delicious and yummy punjabi chaat and sweets.Tried their samosa chole which were piping hot, average in taste, mildly spiced chole along with green chutney. Overall it was good.<br/>One of the best combination😍. Also tried their moong dal bhajiyas this rainy day demands for such comfort food.<br/><br/>Price- 40 INR.

Authentic Punjabi Special Lassi at Punjabi Moti Halwai at Salva Chambers, Cawasji Patel Rd, Fort.<br/><br/>Lassi is the ultimate refreshing drink for summers. The sweetness and thick, creamy and smooth layer of Malai is a delight in itself.<br/><br/>One can truly enjoy the pride and joy of Punjabi cuisine here.<br/><br/>Cost : Fair<br/><br/>Service : Good<br/><br/>Taste : Best<br/><br/>#punjabimotihalwai #speciallassi #foodiekunal

A really amazing place to have the classics like lassi and choke bhature or chai and dal pakwan and they serve really amazing chole samose and samosa chat and the special lassi sis something that you won't get anywhere else in Mumbai<br/>The place is really nice and the service was quick which is never expected from this kind of a place and the rates are very reasonable. Also they have a pretty vast menu that no one else does near to this place.
Abhijeet
A nice simple joint located at the heart of mumbai. Very good snacks items available at really affordable price. One must try chole bhature and Patice
Leena Tamhankar
Chhole-bhature, chhole patice, punjabi samosa, gulab jamun and thali are must try dishes on the menu. Clean place with pocket friendly prices for all.

After visiting Kala Ghoda Art Festival, we were too tired and hungry. One of my friend suggested this place for some light quick bites.<br/>Its located in the same lane as that of Yazdani Bakery.<br/>It did not give me a good impression with its appearance from outside as it looks like some Sweet shop cum Mess/Canteen which my friend had warned us about.<br/>Its quite huge with tables joined together which means during peak hours you might have to share tables.<br/>We quickly ordered snacks items like samosas, kachoris, dal pakwan, mong daal bhajiyas, tea and lassi (special) which comes with a dollop of a Malai topped with finely grated almonds. The lassi was the highlighting part.<br/>We also wanted to order hara bhara kebabs but they weren't available. All were served in no mins well they were gone in our hungry stomachs in seconds.<br/>Surprisingly most of the items were hot and fresh.<br/>If I am ever in the area then now I know where to go for some quick fixes!!<br/><br/>Food: (4.5/5)<br/>Ambience: (3/5)<br/>Staff & Service: (4/5)<br/>Cost: (5/5)
Chinmayee Rane.
Why you should try this eatery....Well to me it was the amount of MALAI they put on the Lassi & the most talked about chole Puri of theirs...<br/>I headed to this place looking at the Zomato reviews & ratings...N I was so eager to try their Sweet Lassi loaded with Malai...It was just smooth & yumm just how I thought it would be...<br/>Also the Chole Puri was made to Perfection...& The garam garam samosas just made our evening...!!<br/>
Aniket Khanvilkar
A must visit place in fort, for some delicious dishes at affordable price. <br/><br/>Visited this afternoon with colleagues, and ordered for Dal pakwan, chole bhature & kachori chaat. <br/><br/>All three dishes were delicious. Really enjoyed dal pakwan & chaat. <br/><br/>We thought of ordering gulab jamun with rabdi, but felt a bit stuffed and decided to walk down till station instead.
Un
visited it often, as office was close by... fast service and not expensive...good for a quick, no fuss, roti sabzi lunch... the gulab jamun is good...
Elaisha Asher
This place is great for lassi and chaas! The seasonal mango lassi was not that great, but the mango milkshake was quite good. <br/>The samosa chole is a delicious dish and the plain roti subzi on a daily basis is also quite nice. It's the perfect place to take a walk to after lunch for a glass of chilled chaas.
Chinmay Joshi
This is one of the most ancient eatery in fort area. Earlier this outlet was famous only for sweets and lassi. Now they have come up with full fledge menu consisting snack items, thali and a la carte. <br/><br/>The owner was a big fat fellow.. Not seen these days. <br/><br/>The crew here is speedy and within few mins your dish is served. <br/><br/>Overall nice budget food outlet
Ankur
Food quality and service is very poor. They cheat you on bills. They serve you morning cooked food for lunch and night and tell you that it is fresh. Kindly never eat and purchase anything from this place.Beware of this place.
Ritvij Shrivastava
Great place to have home like food at reasonable price. Order any vegetable it will be tasty and along with it tawa cooked chapatis with ghee....Love to go there again n again.

This place happens to be in bylane just bang opposite church of horniman circle. Ambience is something which you usually get in any old world place of any town which adds to its genuine place folklore...fast food happens to be good and crunchy but the Lassi and Thandai is lip smacking fare here. Don't miss these 2 things whenever you are around the corner in fort. Overall no frill place which will remind ya of your town place which is easy on pocket !!
Vidyadheesh Upadhye
Punjabi Moti Halwai [PMH] is located in a busy by-lane of Fort. It’s a 2 minute walk from Horniman Circle. <br/><br/>The ambience is nothing to rave / boast about. It’s an old world, no-nonsense place where one just sits, eats, pays & leaves. If you linger for a longer duration, you will be asked if you want anything else and your bill will be placed on your table.<br/><br/>SAMOSA<br/><br/>The Samosa’s are top notch and as genuine as they get. There was absolutely no greasy residue and on account of being fried in pure ghee, they were devoid of any hint of foul smell that emanates from the oil fried ones. These were one of the better ones I have had in Mumbai.<br/><br/>RECOMMENDED<br/><br/>KACHORI<br/><br/>As much as the Samosa was good, the Kachori was that much disappointing. The stuffing in the Kachori ought to have been a bit more. The final product turned out to be more on dough and less on the stuffing.<br/><br/>PANEER PARATHA<br/><br/>Paneer Paratha was as disappointing as the Kachori. It was all dough and no stuffing. The stuffing was just layered as we apply a layer of butter to a slice of bread. Further the Paneer stuffing had no flavouring / spices added to it. <br/><br/>GULAB JAMUN<br/><br/>These will qualify as one of the best Gulab Jamun’s I have had so far in Mumbai. Melt-in-the-mouth soft, spongy and decently sized, are some of the terms which can describe these balls of goodness. I am sure no one can be satisfied eating just 2 of these. <br/><br/>ABSOLUTELY & CERTAINLY RECOMMENDED.<br/><br/>CHHOLE BHATURE<br/><br/>The Chhole was decent although nothing there’s much to rave about it.<br/><br/>I have had their CHHASS as well and it was quite refreshing with some roasted jeera in it. <br/><br/>The prices are pocket friendly. Service is lightning fast and efficient. The waiters have probably grown old with this restaurant itself.<br/><br/>I would be going back for the Samosa & Gulab Jamun only nothing else here caught my fancy for a repeat visit except the counter selling sweets.<br/><br/>Food Quality – 3/5 [For the Samosa & Gulab Jamun, it would be 4.5/5]<br/><br/>Food Quantity – 3.5/5<br/><br/>Ambience – 3/5<br/><br/>Service – 3.5/5<br/><br/>Price – 3.5/5
SUDARSHAN
Food- 0/5- DISASTROUS<br/>And I think there's no point in rating other things when food itself is so so bad...yes literally bad.<br/><br/>Decided to catch up this place after office on a fine day (And punjabi moti halwai made sure that they turn this fine day into a disastrous day)  and regretting for this till date.<br/>I was shocked after having food here because this place on cwasji patel street, fort Mumbai, is so famous for being there since a long and yet their food lacked quality ,taste ,essence..it was totally disappointing.<br/>Dal pakwan was so pathetic and tasteless, they served dal that was not even boiled properly and pakwan tasted stale and was just layered with lots of oil. Dal had no gravy, it was only the half boiled dal.<br/>Chole was over over cooked and I bet if you ever have chole here you will stop having chole again in your life.<br/>And their "Kachori"..It was just a hollow dough fried and there was no filling inside.<br/>And the staff and the owner was so ignorant about this. They behaved as if there is no fault in their food and we are complaining for no reason..which was more annoying.<br/>The time since we dug our first bites into food here all we wanted was to run away from this place.<br/><br/>RECOMMENDATIONS.<br/>ALL THE OTHER FOOD JOINTS IN THE VICINITY..BUT DON'T TRY THIS ONE..UNLESS YOU WISH TO PUNISH YOURSELF AND YOUR TASTE BUDS.<br/><br/>WHAT TO TRY<br/>AVOIDING THIS "RESTAURANT" ..OR WHATEVA THE PLACE IT IS.

Well to be precise and crisp, this place does offer some unique propositions. Try the following and you would think of visiting this place again. <br/><br/>1. Samosa with chutney and chole<br/>2. Cutlet <br/>3. Chole bhature<br/>4. Lassi with malai<br/>5. Chass<br/>6. Gulab jamun. <br/><br/>Well The 3 stars are just because of the hygiene issues, somehow didn't feel like sitting at that place and having my food. Take away is a better option is what I concluded. <br/><br/>Service is quick, the staff were courteous. In all a decent experience. <br/><br/>If you feel like experimenting some new places and stuff do give this place a try. I hope your experience would be interesting.
MumbaiFoodicious
Located by the bye lanes of Fort, near to the Horniman circle.<br/><br/>An old eatery focussing more on serving food the any showsha as compared to others. <br/><br/>Waiters are old but extremely courteous and helpful. They want to make friends with you and always ready to talk to you. <br/><br/>We ordered for Samosa and Chole, the Chole was tasty and went well with the spicy green chutney. The samosa lacked the punch in the masala. <br/><br/>Next to come were the Chole Bhature. The Bhature were fluffy which makes one bite on to them even without the Chole. Do ask for them to give the green and sweet chutney it goes very well with the Bhature. <br/><br/>Loads of Indian dessert to chose from or parcel on the way. Extremely easy on pocket. <br/><br/>A good eatery to drop by when around. <br/><br/>

I have been a regular visitor and whenever in fort during lunch hours I am here. Food is simple and good. Price wise also wallet friendly. Gulab jamuns are a definite try and u wont want to miss them next time u visit this place.
Bhavik Salia
Close to my office so I often eat here. Love the Aloo parathas and lassi. The staff is very friendly. Vegetables are served in individual quantities. But what I don't like is all the vegetables are made in same gravy. I love the kadhi which they serve only on Mondays. Their Gulab Jamuns are too soft like no other.
Bigfatfoodies
This is a good place for quick bite they serve good food at a reasonable price<br/>Prompt service<br/>Pocketfriendly.<br/>Must visit only if you are in fort area and looking for some quickbite options.

A good place for a quick bite. The service and food was quite decent and good ambiance. Though wouldn't recommend trying out most of the dishes as they are quite average but do try out their samosa and gulab jamun. The samosa crust has a sweet dessert like taste, probably because its cooked in ghee instead of oil and the gulab jamun was just amazing, the softest one i have ever had and it just melts in your mouth. <br/><br/>Pros : Samosa, Gulab Jamun, Lassi<br/><br/>Cons : Rest of the dishes are quite average.

If you are nearby BSE, Fountain just Visit this Place and have quick bite of Chole Samosa.<br/>I'm in Love with Special Lassi 😋. Lassi is Just Awesome with lot of Malai and Dry fruits...
Naomi
Its been two months since I work in the fort area, during lunch break its a must to go have either a lassi or a chass. In this humid weather it goes really well. Their samosa and chole are also really good.
Jinesh
The place is overhyped by the ghar ka khaana tagline!the place serves parathas which is not upto the mark.the ka chori chat we ordered was yuck!<br/>The authentic Punjabi food as it claims is not the taste that it should deliver..rather than this place gurukripa at sion serves the best dishes!
Urvi Smarth
The gulab jaaamun are awesomeeeee.... And the lassi... With the malai... Its too good... The walls are a little pale and then seatin arrangement isnt that fascinating.. But its worth a visit..
Tanavi Dugge
goood samosa n kachori! n yummmmy chole bhatora n lassssi???? ...gelibi also goooodd......rabadi also worth tasting...! ....expected more..
Yaassh Rao
Great Food at an amazing price!!<br/>Have been going there on weekly basis, ever since I discovered it!<br/>At first,it looks like an office catering, snacking joint, also giving mithai.<br/>The walls are pale, with their colour draining fast. The seating is standard for an eatery in Fort.Other than this,I can't think of anything else that could count as ambience, apart from maybe the waiters constantly running around with different orders.<br/>Coming to the food,it truly is the real clincher.Authentic Punjabi vegetarian food, which could give Crystal a run for their money.<br/>We ordered Paneer Parathas,Mix Vegetable,Paneer Bhurji and Aaloo Parathas. In fact, order for anything you want, all the dishes live up to the mouth watering aromas they leave.Although, you should be sure to order a Paneer dish.I personally recommend the Paratha.<br/>After such a hearty meal,do have the VERY BEST LASSI OF MUMBAI.The lassi is so good, that even after such a hearty meal, I gulped down the entire glass in one go!!XD<br/>For dessert, blindly order for the Gulab Jamun. It is soft, hot and made quite authentically,as opposed to 'commercial'<br/>Gulab Jamun.<br/>The total damages done:Rs.420!<br/>Final Verdict:<br/>Food:4.5/5<br/>Ambience:2/5<br/>VFM:5/5<br/>Service:3/5

This place is famous for lassi and chaat. <br/>The special lassi is nice and chaat is decent . Gajar ka Halwa and gulab jamun are worth trying. Chole bhature and rest of the lunch items are strictly ok. <br/>Worth going for a quick and economical bite if in fort. Special lassi is a must try.
Vibhav Gadre
Went Here Today For A Quick Bite Before Lunch.. Orderered The Kachori ..Was Shocked To See That The So Called 'Kachori' Was Nothing But A Hollow Dough Of Bread.. And Also The Aloo Paratha Had No Traces Of Aloo In It.The Lassi Was Thinner Than Water And Horribly Sweet..A Must Avoidable Place.. Think Twice Before Going Here..!
Kumar Harsh
extremely avoidable ....good for nothing ....chole puri ok ok... samosa not at all good... lassi was just like any  roadside  joint what we get in mumbai...may be in old time food was good that reputation they are milking now also ..A true foodie wont ever  go here after first visit.....avoidable ..
Vaishnavi BN
I bet you won't get better samosas anywhere in all of town. The chole puri is out of the world. The kachori tastes awesome. I can mention every item on the menu with such an adjective but won't be able to do justice to the taste by these words. <br/>Special note is that if you're on a diet, plz avoid this place, they prepare everything in pure ghee and after one samosa one would seriously think twice before eating the second one.. However they're supposed to be really famous for the lassi, trust me I can't have over half a glass of it. <br/><br/>They have the best desi ghee ke ladoos and the gulab jamun is at par with Kailash parbat and the rassgulla is second to the ones at oh Calcutta.
Amey Taru
Aloo parathaa aaahaa!!!!!!! I really never had such delicious paratha in my life.. also mung da halwa .... Was Mouth watering.<br/>Guyes must try dishes like cholle samosa n gulab jamun n malai sandwich.Good place for quality food with less cost for the same. Famous restro in fort.
Sandeep Nadkarni
I guaran-damn-tee you’ll never have better gulabjamuns in the whole wide world! PMH makes the softest melt –in-your mouth juicy gulabjamuns and that’s a fact. I strongly suspect even Oye Kake (a veg. Punjabi restaurant diagonally opposite) sources its gulabjamuns from here (and I’m not complaining).<br/><br/>Otherwise PHM is an ordinary eat and scoot eatery which serves easily palatable Punjabi food, you’ll have to share the benches with other busy folks gobbling a quick lunch. Their Chole is quiet decent and folks generally have it with samosa.<br/><br/>People like the lassi here too.<br/><br/>But only for the gulabjamuns a 4!
Nikhil Singh
This place is located right opposite my fort office and that's the major reason which made to go try it out . <br/>Its supposedly very famous for its sweets and especially their Special Lassi which I must admit is pretty good but yeah its very sweet too . <br/>They have lots of chaat options which are pretty good and so is their gajar ka halwa. Even their chole bhature is pretty decent. <br/>If I had to pick just one reason for visiting then , it would have to be the special lassi which is my favorite . <br/>They accept sodexo which is another plus and yeah parking can be a major pain if u come in the middle of the day so would advice to take a taxi
Jaimin Rajani
Went there for what this place is famous for, their Lassi. Quite overrated, I'd say since it wasn't thick enough and was as cold as ice, which isn't the way I like mine.
Ishani Solanki
Delicious north Indian meals and snacks.<br/><br/>Recommeded dishes:<br/>PUNJABI SAMOSAS - just the way they are supposed to be. *thumbs up*<br/>LASSI - another mainstay of this place<br/><br/>Simple, affordable and quite satisfying.<br/><br/>Word of Caution: Pray to your gods and leave your footwear and guilt of consuming less calories and cholestrol at the steps outside.
Karan Mehta
Best place for samosas
