Tried Kashmiri food from this newly opened delivery outlet at Oshiwara.

Traditional CHICKEN YAKHNI was nice in taste. A little less salty and it would be bang on.

MUTTON ROGAN JOSH is for the spicy food lovers. Tasted real good and authentic.

SAFFRON RICE was something which was very unique and loved the aroma and flavour.

Do try this place for some authentic Kashmiri cuisine in Mumbai !

Ordered chaman tamatar. Being a Kashmiri, I can say that it was not really authentic. More of Punjabi style. But then that's only one dish. Hopefully they will remind me of my mom's cooking the next time.

When a restaurant with such an unique name exists, you know that there's something exciting about it, not just the name but also the menu that they'd offer.

**So the dishes that I tried and absolutely loved it here are enlisted below**

•Chicken (Kokur) Rogan Josh - The very famous kashmiri dish, a must try. The chicken gravy was loaded with flavours , was spicy just the way I like it and had that rogan josh'ness containing extra oil on top.

•Saffron Rice (KongPoush Batta) - Cooked in ghee, this is a delightful treat that mends its way with any gravy... and if its chicken rogan josh, you know this is gonna be divine!

•Methi Paneer (Methi Chamman) - A nice dish for main course which contains methi and cubes of paneer in red masala. Not spicy but the blend of the spices was great.A new dish to try from the other side of the menu.

•Phirni (Kong Phirin) - Okay so this has my heart! Semolina phirni garnished with saffron, almonds and other dry fruits.10/10!!! It literally melts in your mouth.

Concluding: What I really want to mention about this delivery outlet is their spill proof packaging, full marks for that.
Whereas their wide variety of only kashmiri cuisines not only gives us a option of trying something unique and out of the box but also delivers some tasty food with no compromise in taste and a great value for money.
This place specializes in authentic Kashmiri food. Kashniri food doesn't have the base ingredients of onions, tomatoes and garlic but it's made with Kashmiri red chilli powder, aniseed powder, wadi masala, ginger powder and yoghurt being the main ingredients.

We called for
Roganjosh Mutton Delicious tender spiced mutton enjoyed with saffron rice.

Chicken Yakhni - A thick chicken gravy that is perfect when eaten with saffron rice.

Starter - Kokur kanti - spiced and tender pieces of chicken. I recommend this starter as it's simply delicious

It's a delivery kitchen with good service and neat packing. It's reasonable and you will love the flavours of Kashmiri food. You must try calling from this delivery kitchen and enjoy the flavours and spices of the North.

I've always wanted to try some authentic Kashmiri food and was thrilled to see this delivery outlet that specializes in Kashmiri food. Unlike Indian food mist of the Kashniri food doesn't have the base ingredients of onions, tomatoes and garlic.
The food is made with Kashmiri red chilli powder, aniseed powder, wadi masala, ginger powder and fresh yoghurt that are generously used in most of the preperations. These ingredients make the food completely different and more flavourful to relish and enjoy.

This is what we called for
Roganjosh Mutton - Well marinated muttin that's really tender and perfectly cooked with spices. A real treat for all mutton lovers.

Chicken Yakhni - A delicious chicken gravy that hoes perfectly with saffron rice.

Starter - Kokur kanti - Delicious and tender pieces of chicken. I strongly recommend this starter.

It's a delivery kitchen with prompt service and excellent packing. The food reached us nice and hot. There is no artificial colours and flavoi used in the food. Pure ghee and saffron is used to enhance the flavours. I strongly recommend this delivery outler for all the foodiescwho would love to try delicious Kashmiri food in the comfort of your home.

India is the home to one of the most diversified cuisines in the world, out of the many today we decided let's head to Kashmir! By Kashmir we mean KongPoush at Oshiwara a delivery outlet with one of the finest and rarest of cuisines.
We were served Mutton Roganjosh, a red mutton gravy simply a perfect combination with the Saffron rice. Not to spicy and overloaded with oil just the way you would have it in Kashmir.
Methi Kokur (chicken): I would have never thought of eating Methi but this combination was surprisingly good. Servings are enough for two.
Moving to a classic from the Mughalai time, The Phirni served with alot of dry fruits and super rich to have. A paradise for you foodies having a special place for such rich foods.
Overall a must try.
Quality 4/5
Quantity 4/5

Tried out a new delicacy, the only restaurant who serves pure kashmiri cuisine in mumbai. They are online on zomato and swiggy, and best to call for party orders !! I ordered :

Tabakh maaz - mutton ribs marinated and fried to bring in perfect flavour for a perfect starter.

Mutton roghan josh - mutton pieces in red roghan gravy prepared with cloves and ginger powder, its bestseller in main course.

Methi chaman - chaman also known as paneer, quiet different and interesting preparation with kashmiri spices, loved this dish.

Phirni - no compromise in taste, real saffron is used which shows up in phirni and smells great.

Overall quantity, quality, service, delivery 5/5.
Highly Recommended !!!
You will find the best kashmiri authentic food here in whole mumbai.
Try “maaz yakhni” “nadur palak” “mutton roganjosh” infact you should call for party orders a variety of food items..
I am myself a kashmiri living in mumbai and their food is the best alternative to my home sickness swings.
The yakhni is a dish which can arouse your senses and “kongpoush” knows exactly how to get it right.
Amit Chopra
average food. good for someone who has never eaten kashmiri.
Mohammad Younuss
Authentic Kashmir cuisine, mouthwatering delicacies and super fast delivery.
Mino
Interesting food and flavours that were new to me. Ordered Nadir Palak, which was Palak cooked with lotus stems, Kokur Yakin (chicken in yoghurt) and saffron rice called Kong Batta.
This place is worth a recommendation. Not many places serve Kashmiri food and this restaurant is one that does. Go for it.
Manita Panjwani
A must try for all those who are looking to experiment with Kashmiri cuisine. While they have good veg choices, must visit for non veg lovers with a spicy palatte

The perfect place for your weekend lunch. We ordered from here a few weeks back. Had an amazing experience with Kasmiri Food. Check out the Kokur Rogan Josh, extremely delicious!

Being the only place for kashmiri cuisine - it’s ok. Food at times is very oily but kashmiri food is heavy on the fat content.
I occasionally order from here when the craving for this cuisine strikes.
Ali Agha
Delivery boy was really friendly.
Its quite expensive as you will have to pay around 400 to get 2 pcs of Rista. In Kashmir we get it for 60-80.
The quality of Ristas was just ok as they were a hard to eat. I am not sure but somewhere it looked like the ristas were beef(buffallo meat) made ( well i eat beef so i dont have any problem). Their Methi is really nice to order, partially authentic but better than the original. I havent tried anything else so.. this is it
Manish Raina
Amazing authentic Kashmiri food. Ordered Goshtaba and Muts. The taste was really good. Portion size is also decent.

As a Kashmiri, I had been searching for an authentic Kashmiri food. I must admit that I have found one.
Prerna Raj
I really liked the food but the only thing that disappointed me was Goshtaba. Although the taste was good, but the meat balls weren’t tender enough, they were very hard which generally aren’t supposed to be. Rest I liked the food.

I had been dying to have a nice Mutton Rista for the past 2 years after my last trip to Ladakh but only when the cravings hit did i realize how few authentic Kashmiri restaurants existed here (and even fewer that serve Rista). After a lot of procrastinating (travelling from Colaba to Oshiwara) I went to Kong Poush dying of hunger - but came to know they had shut down their restaurant and were now only a delivery place. Not to be discouraged i ordered it standing outside the kitchen area and rushed home to eat it.

I wasnt disappointed. Memories of my trip came rushing back as i bit into and relished every morsel of that finely made mutton. A little on the pricier side (but cheaper than a ticket to Ladakh). SO totally worth it. Would definitely go back for another round.

Very good and authentic kashmiri food. All those looking for kashmiri food must try koung posh atleast once. The delivery and packaging is up to the mark as well. All the best to koung posh. Rise and shine

Truly authentic Kashmiri food. And the delivery is truly awesome.

On time delivery and the taste took me back to Kashmir. And the cost of the food is perfect.

The best dish what I liked was Rogan Josh and Tabakh Natt

Mr. Sunil Mattoo really made up for an earlier order that had an issue and went out of his way to ensure that I don't take a bad first experience from Kong poush. Needless to say the food was really good but it was also his personal touch and earnestness to give the customer a good experience that won our hearts. Thankyou!
Koul Deepak
The only place in Mumbai where you will find authentic Kashmiri cuisine. The owner Sunil Mattoo is is great human being who treats his customers very well. My best wishes.

My quest for Kashmiri food is finally over in Mumbai. As a J&K native, I have been living in Mumbai since past 10 years and so. Everything is good here, but what I missed the most is 'Real Kashmiri Cuisine'. So last Saturday, I and my wife decided to throw a thanksgiving dinner to few of our close friends, and the 'KongPoush' name popped up on my screen. Now before I share my detailed review, let me tell you something.

Being from J&K always gives a feeling of cringing and crying, since most of the times we left dissatisfied from the self-proclaiming Kashmiri restaurants. We tried 180 Degrees Kashmiri festival (before they replaced their chef), Poush, Zafran etc. However, this time we planned for KongPoush, since this was the only one we hadn’t tried before.

Here are my detailed observations:

Our menu included Tabaqmaaz, Rista, Yakhni, Mujih Gaad, Methi Chicken, Mujih Chetin, Gand Chetin, Phirni and Kehwa.

- First of all, we got a free home delivery from Andheri West all the way to Mira Road East and on time.

- Quantity was perfect. Infact, there were few leftovers, which our guests insisted that we pack it and give it to them.

- Tabakmaaz was pre-cooked then refrigerated, which gave us a chance to deep fry them (as instructions came along). Once this was done, we all were surprised with the flavours of the fat and mild spices. Crunchy from outside and tender from inside, totally melts in your mouth, which is rare thing for mutton especially in Mumbai.

- Rista: What more I can say other that this Rista recipe at Kongpoush, to our surprise, it was way better than Ahdoo’s and Mughal Darbaar in Srinagar or Naaz and Dak Bunglow Wazwan in Jammu. It was so good, right amount of spices, right amount of gravy thickness and perfect tenderness which is required in a Rista.

- Mujih Gaad: We are not fish eaters, but it was required for our guests in Mumbai. I ate it so did my wife, we were so happy to try this fish. One of our guests requested that he will take the rest of the fish to her home, since they all love fish and this was nothing compared to anything they tried before.

- Yakhni: Yakhni got over within first hour of our dinner, so nothing to add more than this. You can imagine how good it must be. Tender fatty ribs and delicious mixture of yoghurt and authentic Kashmiri spices.

- I must highly recommend you all the readers, if you ever plan to take away your order from this restaurant, do not miss out on ordering Mujih Chetin and Gand Chetin (Raddish Chutney and Onion Chutney). Kashmiri food is incomplete without them.

- Methi Kokur: Tender and juicy pieces of chicken ready to melt in your mouth with a flavorful combination of Fenugreek. Absolutely delicious.

- Phirni: An Azerbaijani/Afghani dessert travelled to India via north route, who can do better then the legit northerners? Kongpoush uses real saffron for flavor and colour. Your meal is incomplete without this dessert.

- Kehwa: Once the dinner and desserts were over, we introduced Kehwa to our guests. The guests (who all had overeaten by then) refused, stating capacity issues. Once we forcefully served them, every single guest asked if they can have more. By the way, it also helps with your digestion.

Wow! What a beautiful sight to see all your guests happy and content with your thanksgiving party.

Mr Sunil Mattoo, Owner, Kongpoush, was so kind. First of all he gave me discounts, secondly I received a free home delivery, which was not at all expected considering such a long distance. Not only this, since the vessels were large, he let us keep it with us and after two days, he got them collected without asking for any extra charges or conveyance fee.

On this review section, I have noticed may people have given some negative feedback. I wonder why? If mutton or chicken tastes different, atleast understand that Kashmiri is a less spicy cuisine. Someone wrote that there was no masala in the chicken, C’mon, what masala? This is absolutely wrong to review by self-proclaiming gastronomy expert. I highly recommend ‘KongPoush’. Visit them and order blindly!

My recommendations are:

- Rogan Josh.

- Tabakmaaz (for starters).

- Roghan Josh.

- Rista.

- Goshtaba.

- Firni (Fereni)

- Kehwa.

- Mirchi Korma.

- Nadir Yakhni.

- Haak Saag.

- Rajmaah.

- Tamatar Chamman (Paneer in red gravy).

Hope this helps all you explorers!

Can't believe that we've found this gem tucked away in Oshiwara! Imagine the joy of finding an authentic Kashmiri eatery in Mumbai 😍
We had Mutton Yakhin, Chaman Tamatar, Rice and Mooli Raita, followed by the best ever Phirni and ended the gluttonous indulgence with kahwa.
Total paisa vasool!
It's great that the owner actively engages with the clients.
Downside? Mosquitoes. 🙁

In search of kashmiri cuisine.. found this place on zomato.. its a nice little place in oshiwara, the ambience is decorated in kashmiri style and looks good, coming to food we tried their tabakmaaj, methi maaj kahwa. Tabakmaaj was good but felt it should have been more crisp( when i ate in kashmir it was crispy) the methi maaj was superb.. kahwa too was good
Recommended if you want to try something different

Such tender and yum chicken I hadn't had in a while!
We ordered everything the waiter suggested ,all of it was mind blowing.
A new favourite is added to my list :)
Burppp!

Went to this small joint after reading positive reviews but found the place verry average. Ordered Mutton Soup which was very good. Starter Kokur Kanti was just like any chicken tikka and there was nothing kashmiri special in it. For main course we ordered some methi chicken which was again average and mutton roganjosh which completely let down. For Specialised Kashmiri Restaurant not serving Authentic RoganJosh is crime. All together restaurant is average with nothing kashmiri special.

I have been to this restaurant quite a few times but finally decided to write a review.

Being a Kashmiri pandit myself, my taste buds were always salivating for some Kashmiri food ! Unfortunately Mumbai doesn't have too many options in that respect !

But this restaurant came as a pleasant surprise ! This restaurant is as close to authentic , as you can get away from Kashmir ! I always order the Rohan josh and tabak maaz here !

I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to try Kashmiri cuisine in Mumbai !
I love Kashmiri food and was very excited to find a restaurant that serves Kashmiri cuisine in Mumbai. I have been to Kong Poush twice and plan to frequent the place. They serve great Kashmiri food with authentic flavours. I have tried their Methi Chamman, Gushtaba and Kokur Yakhin and they all are great dishes. The mujh chutney is an amazing side kick! The service is very gud, the waiters were very polite and happily answers my questions about Kashmiri food (there were plenty :))They even served a complimentary dessert at the end of the meal!
Very happy with the overall experience :)
Will definitely recommend to everyone!

I knew Kong Poush from its original location within Lokhandwala Shastri Nagar from years ago. It was only this week I learned that they had moved to Oshiwara depot for 5 years before creeping into one of the busiest lanes of Andheri (Oshiwara) W. We contemplated where to grab a grub when I noticed KP and turned to the beloved for whom meat was more beloved than me. Needless to say he ran in before I could correct his pronunciation of the place.

The ambiance is warm, easy on the eyes and cozy. The music was a winner for me; sure it can evoke some giggles from those who don't appreciate folk music but traditional Kashmiri tunes playing at an audible tone made for a pleasant and different evening. The new menu (not updated here on Zomato) was easy to follow and choose from. We ordered Mutton soup, Chicken kebabs (marinated in yogurt and turmeric), Maaz Pulav, and Kong Phirin (sweet pudding made of semolina). Every element of each of the dishes was its own winner. The meats were succulent, cooked carefully and complimented the dishes they were part off. One thing to note was that they all stood out in their OWN flavors and didn't taste like 5 different dishes created from the same base (a notorious issue with Indian cuisine/eateries where 50 different curries seem to have the same base). The rice was fragrant and spices too were sourced from the valley or sourced well because they didn't drown in the background like an aftertaste. The mutton soup broth was perfect for a winter day for someone looking for comfort and respite in a bowl. The dessert was delicious, mildly spiced and not overbearingly sweet - a big plus point for me. All in all, if you are looking for a good win of spices, fragrance, and different cuisine, then try KP. You will not regret it. The dishes are well priced and save for soups, everything else feeds 2 hungry foodies.

I was keen to end the meal with Kashmiri kahwa (traditional tea made of spices to keep them warm and aid digestion with the added bonus of glowing skin thanks to kesar). My better half isn't too adventurous or he was just selfishly saving the meat after taste. However, the owner/renowned chef insisted we taste it and made it a complimentary addition to our meal. I appreciated it since I did feel incomplete without the kahwa and absolutely loved it. Big #nomnom points for me and I can't wait to go back after recommending this place to a few folks who went and dined and loved it.

Tried the chef's chicken recommendation. It was a takeaway. Realised it was terrible only when I reached home. The chiken was rubbery. Will not visit again. I definitely won't advice this place.

Awesome Kashmiri food in different varieties very delicious especially gushtaba,Tabak Maaz and Rogan Josh, mutton seekh kabab.Highly recommend these varieties ,will visit again and again.

I highly recommend this restaurant for eating 'authentix Kashmiri cuisine ' in Mumbai, my first experience after residing for 3 decades in this city.

Has a fantastic spread of both vegetarian and non vegetarian. He even prepared veg dishes without use of onion and garlic.

We had palak soup (quite thick ), methi chamman (paneer in Kashmiri language ) , mujji chattni (radish /mooli raita )
The ambience is quite relaxed and the chief does a good job of explaining what combinations of curries go well with rice or roti (pairing )

Brownie points for the small firni dessert (complimentary )
Highly recommend, would visit again !
Kartik Sharma Buria
Perfect place to get over your Kashmiri ex!
Delicious food and service ! Must try Maaz yakhin and saffron rice .kahwa and the post Meal samovar hand wash is super.

Somebody had recommended me to go to KongPosh many years ago. Thankfully tonight I was able to make it there finally, and the food was yum. I loved the ambience and the humble way they served food and took care of every little need on our table.
I believe good food must be served by humble people, so would like to go back for the oh-so-hard-to-find comfortable, no-pressure, no-noise ambience. We loved dahi chicken tikka, SukVanGun (Khattey Baigan) with Batta (steamed rice) and the Mooli Chutney.
Also, to top it up they served some complimentary firni, that was fresh and chilled.
Doing all my diet cheats here :)
Archita Trisal
Being a Kashmiri, when someone says "Hey there's a new Kashmiri restaurant here" I dismiss it without even thinking twice. But I was missing home food way too much today and decided to try out hoping that it was even half as good as my mom's. And when I heard the chefs talking in Kashmiri, I was relieved!

Had a chicken starter and quickly moved on to Tsok Wangun (Khatte Baingan), Haakh and Batta (rice) accompanied by Muj chatyin. The little bit of Phirni they gave complimentary was amazeballs. Currently in food coma. My only grouse was that the Tsok Wangun was a bit too spicy for my liking but I'm definitely visiting and home-calling again. Thanks to Mr Sunil Mattoo for the hospitality and the opportunity for us home-away-from-home Kashmiris to experience home food again :) Sizil Srivastava

Food was okay...had high hopes but didn't satisfy my taste bud...the staff was good except the person sitting at the counter..he was continuously fidgeting with his phone n playing songs n making noise..and that place was stinking..it should've been freshned up a bit..

"Good Koshur food in Bombay" I laughed as i spit out the disgusting overtly sweetened Gujarati styled butter chicken. Then someone recommended me KongPoush. I went the next day with a non Kashmiri friend Monica Gurnani .The Gushtaba was authentic- just like its supposed to be. The Rohgan Josh gravy was not as its exactly supposed to be- it was lighter and milder ( Im sure looking at the milder palette of Bombay folk)
The similar milder gravy was used with the Dum alloos, the texture and consistency of the aaloo's themselves was PERFECT by the way.

Photos of Kashmir hanging inside, the traditional way to wash hands with brassware. it all made me happy.

Would Recommend
Divya Karkera
Decent food... Smiling service... All makes up for a good dining experience... Must try the Roganjosh as unlike many other restaurants do not prepare using a packet curry paste... Overall can be visited once...

Soo far the best place for kashmiri food in and around andheri.
My fav is roganjosh, rista, goshtaba, palak nadur.
Being a kashmiri myself, this place reminds of home made food and authentic kashmiri flavors.
A must go place for all those who want to experience how the kashmiri food tastes like. :D

Food was good ... I ordered only the Kongpoush chamman which was thick and spicy just how I like it
Equally good for both vegetarians and non vegetarians

After Reading Reviews on Zomato & 1 of our Friend's Recommendation We Went To KongPoush Restaurant On My Hubby's Birthday With Family..
We Have Ordered Seekh ( Which was their main dish in Mutton) On a waiter's Suggestion It was tender but not at all tasty..
2nd We have orderded Chicken Tandoori, This time also we disappointed..
& In a Main course We Have Ordered Kung poush Kokur again on a waiter's Recommendation There were not any masala's Nor tasty Not At all Kashmiri...
& We Haven't Full Our Stomach & Left The Place To Eat Somewhere Else.. very Disappointed place, It has spoiled our mood & Celebration..
Anmg1967
Kong Poush is Mattoo's gift to Mumbai. The food is fantastic and the taste has remained the same wherever he has gone . The rista's and seekh kebabs are to die for and the Haakh is heavenly... To top it all up a cup of warm kahwa and firni is the cherry on the cake...a visit to Kong Poush will always bring a smile to my face.

Good food . Aromatic paneer tikka , flavor of kashmiri red chilli makes it different from the regular paneer tikka. Chicken kabab was okaish. Tasted more like tandoori chicken than having its authentic taste from kashmir.

Main course was curry of spinach and lotus stem. It was really different and tasty. Request them to introduce kashmiri desserts also

Food taste and quality : 4.5
Staff : 5
Price range : 4
Authenticity of food : 4

We went in late last night at 12 am. They weren't obliged to serve us, but they were too nice to send us away.

For those who won't read a detailed review - Very warm hospitality and comfort food.

Usually I read a ton of reviews before ordering, but since we didn't want to make them wait - we just took reccos from the person waiting on us, Jeetendra. He recommended the following:

Mutton Seekh - We asked for a spicy recommendation, so this was it. Now be warned, it doesn't taste like a melt in mouth kinda seekh, but its a blast of amazing flavours in your mouth. Hog on it while it's still piping hot (wouldn't recommend calling this as a takeaway).

For Main course

Mutton Yakhini - We wanted to compliment the spicy seekh with something mild, but flavorful. This was perfect and it went really well with the saffron rice. The mutton had too much fat for my liking; but if you don't mind getting your hands dirty - it's fine.

For Dessert

I guess my friend and I looked like gluttons, so the owner felt bad for our appetite and sent across free phirni. Again, this wasn't your general Lucky Biryani-type phirni but good nonetheless. It wasn't too sweet; which actually matched our palette tastes.

Basically if you're a regional food buff like me, go. Definitely go.

P.S. - Thank you for serving us Jeetendra.

Outstanding preparation of an outstanding cuisine from the valley! Not only are the flavors exactly as you get back home ( Kashmir), the quantities are huge too.
Special recommendation- phirni which comes with a twist, semolina instead of rice makes it really light, yummy and a change from the regular overrated versions of this delicacy!

Had heard a lot about the chef and this restaurant. Disappointing experience. The food did not live up to its reputation at all. If you've never eaten authentic Kashmiri food then this is worth a try. Otherwise give it a miss.

We were at Kong Poush a kashmiri restaurant by Sunil Mattoo. we were late i called Mr Mattoo and informed him that i will reach there by 3.30 pm he was kind enuff to keep the kitchen open for us .This is at Oshiwara near Heera Panna Mall opp PMC bank . I m a succour for all kinds of authentic cusine and Kashmiri food is my all time favourite having relished them since childhood at our Kashmiri neighbours , since it was only me and my better half we could only order a few of my favourites starting with the Mutton Shorba which was just too good ,followed by Seekh Kababs well done but not as juicy as the ones we get at the lane opp mahim dargah (ofcourse there will always be a difference) for maincourse we had plain rice with Mutton Roganjosh, Dum Aluv , and Chaman kaliyan. Excellant meat cooked well in the spices except that the original Roganjosh gravy is not thick but here they grind onion and tomatoes to thicken the gravy to suit local palate. Dum aloo was perfect as usual the gravy was not we were used to but it was tasty not very Hot as Kashmiris wld like. Chaman Kaliyab was Paneer cooked in Milk based gravy a bit blant but the paneer was fresh . We finished our lunch with Kheer and Phirni was also good enuff. As usual they had Kahwa not Nimak wali chai which i wld prefer. Overall a good ending to a bad start that was we had originally planned to have saddhya and booked for two at a restaurant called Theeram in Kalina without knowing the kind of place when we saw the place decided against it and we left for Kong Poush an eventfull 19th wedding anniversary ended on a very good note.

Kong posh is an amazing place. With Kashmiri songs playing in the background and the love and warmth I felt during the whole time I was there, reminded me of my home. Generally, the restaurants serving Kashmiri food change the recipes so that it fits the palate of people who are not used to having spicy food. But in all that the whole essence of Kashmiri food is lost.

But at Kong posh they have just got the right balance of everything.
To sum up this amazing experience, a cup of Kahwa is what u want.
I would love to go back to this place.

Heard about this place from couple of friends, but was skeptical to try food here as I haven't had good experience in the past, when it comes to Kashmiri cuisine in Mumbai.
But being the food lover, I thought of giving it a try. The moment I entered the restaurant I was sure I was in for a good experience this time.
The ambiance ,staff talking in kashmiri and the kashmiri music in the back ground... It was like "kashmir in Mumbai".
Ordered Tabakh Maaz for starter and Rista with plain rice for main course. It was yummy and tasty. Had kehwa and phirni for desert. Couldn't have asked for a better ending for such an amazing dinner. Everything was perfect.
Finally there is a place in mumbai which serves authentic kashmiri cuisine.

I am surely going to visit the place again with friends.
Highly recommended!!!

Everything is yummmmmmmm...
In the past 2 weeks I have already visited the place 3 times n i am not done yet.The service is brilliant and staff warm n courteous.
The best kashmiri food one can have in mumbai.

Dum aloo superb
Firni too good
And best food is mawa bati ( Gulab jamun)
Yummmmmmmy
Keep the same taste
Need to visit second time
Food is good but service for home delivery is horrible. Further more the manager of hotel was extremely rude. Better to avoid such restraunts when there is so much choices in Oshiwara.
Namita Bakhru
Horrible place! Ordered for food, and they sent less Roti's, and didn't send the cold drink. And the delivery boy went to first get cold drink and round 2 for the Roti's! To add to it, the person on the phone was absolutely rude! They think they are doing us a favour by starting a restaurant. Terrible experience and if you like to eat your food cold and be insulted by some arrogant man please do order from here.

So when my brother came in from pune, me n my husband went out to treat him to Kong poush. It was our first time there but we read quite good reviews of the place and were deciding to go for it for a long time. So there we were at Kong poush. Such a unique name. We were informed by the staff that it means saffron flower. Very unique.

When we entered this place, it looked quite small n quaint. The walls were decorated with a lot of pictures and artifacts from Kashmir and it felt really cozy. Special mention to the raw Kashmir music playing there. Loved it.

We ordered the tomota rass and buzit kokur kunti and seekh kebab for starters. Tomoto rass was heaven. Hubby finished it in a minute. It was very rich in flavor. Buzit kokur kunti is just like chicken tikka but a milder n richer version. The highlight was the chicken seekh kebab. I don't have any words to describe the softness of the kebabs. Too good.

Then coming to the main course, we ordered the rista which was highly recommended. Its mutton kofta curry however not minced mutton but pounded mutton. And naan and roti to go with it. Now this dish is a very authentic one but we didn't like it. The idea of pounded mutton meat sounds delicious in theory but not in practice. And the gravy too was not so good. Maybe that's how it tastes but we didn't like it.

Then finally we ordered chicken pulao which was very good and like how we cook at our home. Rich and flavorful. A special mention to all the dishes we ordered. They were cooked in a way to give warmth inside the body. Guess that's how they cook in Kashmir when it is too cold.

The bill felt a bit on the higher side but for a first visit, we were satisfied. A very good calm place for food lovers.

What a lovely place to have Kashmiri food in Mumbai, great taste, extensive menu, amazing support staff.
Overall a delightful experience.
2 Thumbs up for KongPoush!
Keep Rocking!

Ordered their speciality Kong Poush Kokur after reading so many positive reviews here, but highly disappointed. The taste was average and the dish was salty. On top of that, they charged service charge on the bill amount and inspite of questioning the delivery guy, he insisted us to pay him for it.

Service tax/service charge is levied when any "service" is provided in the restaurant. You are not suppose to pay any of the two when the food is sent for home delivery.

If you want a break from the regular Italian Mexican Indian stuff around this area this place welcomes you with open arms.
Situated at two min from my work place Kong poush is all abt authentic Kashmiri cuisine .
Having said that the places is small for big groups they have an inner ac and outer waiting area.
The staff is well aware of their knowledge for food.
To start with I ordered the chicken starter cooked in curd and Kashmiri spices similar to chicken tikka but well made and served with a tangy onion salad and mint chutney.
Then we went in for a waiters recommendation who got us plain white basmati rice with yakhni kokur( chicken in white curry) yakhni I believe is a real speciality of the Kashmiris . The taste is authentic to the point you start feeling you are eating food literally in Kashmir .
To end the meal gulab jamun was my choice n it was bang on .
Don't miss out on this one when ur around this area.
Kong poush you guys are on my recommendation list now .

Amaaaaaaaaaazing food with quality and authenticity,
In love with kashmiri food at Kongpoush
Rogan Josh paneer,
Nadar palak
Could not imagine amazing veg food in kashmiri cuisine ..

On 6th Aug, I had gone for dinner with family who were hesitant trying new food while I have tried Kong Poush in Goregaon before 4 years with a much better ambience.

To mention a brief about the courtesy as we entered the restaurant by the Co-owner Tarun Khanna was special. There was warmth very much visible like the Kashmiris when I visited J&K.

Regarding The orders placed by us we ordered Starters Tabakh Maaz, Buzith Kokur Kanti.. It was amazing delicious with nice marination. Quantity was more earlier in their older restaurant than now but no complaints.

Troush Chamman was tender paneer but this was the only dish which was downer due to excess salt. It’s our mistake too since we didn’t complain. Tarun was gracious to extend apologies for same.

Main Course was Marchwangan Korma instead of Rista and Goshtoba since we had tasted before. Full marks here on taste and Quantity. We had with hot crisp rotis.

Maaz Polav was subtle with good taste of local spices and meat amazingly tender.

All in All.. It was a nice dinner and place worth visiting.

3 cheers to Kong Poush Team. Keep the Flag high

We ordered dinner from this awesome restaurant 2 days ago. We opted for Kashmiri food, Haakh, dum aloo and mutton rogan josh. Simply excellent. Good quality ingredients and delicate flavours. Gravies were individual and not generic although both the dishes were red gravy! Prices also very reasonable.

Love this place. Unique food. Lovely ambience. Friendly staff. Great dinner place. Love the variety! And the saffron rice smells only so delicious that I overeat everyone!

Everyone should try it out! Like soon soon!

My family is from Kashmir and this place surely lives up to that level of authentic Kashmiri food. Try the Rogan Josh it is just like you get in the valley.

This is an all time favorite of mine. Have been going to this places for ages in its old Avatar in Lokhandwala, the in Dindoshi and now in Oshiwara. Wazwaan/Kashmiri food at its best and believe me you won't find better quality and cut of meat at any place but this. Try their mutton yakhni, tabakmaaz and meat balls.
They are happy to home deliver for large orders.
Divya Sainath
This place offers an authentic cuisine (at least to a non-kashmiri) and warm gracious service.

The first thing we noticed as we entered the place was the delectable aroma of saffron, spices, meat and rice. Wrapped in the orange glow of the decor, I immediately felt relaxed and blissful.
The menu has a helpful first page describing the Kashmiri cuisine for the uninitiated, along with a glossary of translations of the Kashmiri names of the ingredients.
Everything we ordered and was delicate, balanced, flavourful - tomato soup, rajma, Kong poush batta (Safforn rice), and a mutton dish (Kaustubh Khanolkar I forget the name). We ended it with phirni and kahwa.

The host was an extremely gracious man, who personally attended to every guest. This place has a feel good, warm, "family - like" service that very few places offer these days. He even made the phirni complementary for us!
Highly recommended, and a definite on the revisit list...

Like the good things keep coming back in life, KongPoush is back. A good mix of great taste, simplicity & lots of passion towards serving really good & authentic food. Kashmiri cuisine is delicate & need loads of expertise to serve best & authentic taste. KongPoush achieved that expertise long back. And with their consistency it proves their passion & determination towards the real goal... TO SERVE THE BEST. I have not tried their north Indian menu yet. But they are bang on with Kashmiri menu. I assume even the north Indian menu will be as good. Will try that soon as well & post another review on that. Of course the restaurant needs improvements in ambience & variety of starters. But currently they cover these areas by their humility & attention to individual customers. My 5th point to them comes from there. I pray & wish KongPoush grows and it goes bigger & bigger. Long live KongPoush.

I love the food at KongPoush Kashmiri Cuisine and everything here has excellent taste. My personal favourites in the main course are Dum Aloo, Rajma, Roganjosh and Chamman Qualiya. In the desserts I love Kong Khir, Phirni and Gulab Jamun. I would love to eat here regularly.

My friend and I stumbled upon this place today. I was famished and extremely excited to have found a Kashmiri food joint in Mumbai. The staff was extremely polite and the owner attentive. We ordered the Rista (spicy meat balls in red curry) along with Kong poush batta (saffron rice) and a glass of cold Kahwa. The preparation was delicious and reminded me of the Rista I had eaten in Kashmir sometime back. The mutton seekh kababs were decent. We were served Kong Khir on the house and it was perfect - just the right amount of sweet and yum! I have bookmarked this restaurant and will be returning to try the other delicacies for sure.

This newly opened place adds the Wazwan to our palate. Much needed!
When a native of Kashmir (Ketan Kaul) gives his thumbs up, it is worth checking out for all the good reasons.
Food is definitely good and brings in the flavors and spices of Kashmir. The maaz was well cooked and tender in all its forms we had. Ambiance is neat but the service definitely needs improvement. This place somehow has a perennial issue with mosquitos even the last Oriental restaurant in this place had the issue.
Overall a good experience with the food (save the extra noisy family of patrons).

KongPoush, which literally translates to the saffron flower in Kashmiri, is a cute little place serving Kashmiri & North-India cuisine.

Being a Kashmiri, I haven't had good Kashmiri food in Mumbai and was always searching for one and now I can say my search has ended.

We had the following-

Kahwa: The famous Kashmiri tea. It was perfectly just like in any Kashmiri home

Starters-

Tabak Maaz: Lamb ribs are marinated in spiced yogure par-boiled and pan fried, also called Kabargah. This dish is a personal favorite and I loved it here

Buzith Kokur Kanti: Boneless chicken pieces marinated in curd and Kashmiri spices and barbecued. Perfectly cooked chicken, mildly spicy and delicious.

Main- Course-

Rista: Meat balls cooked in a red gravy. These aren't made of minced meat but actual meat pieces pounded into meatballs. Delicious

Kokur Yakhin: Chicken cooked in curd based gravy. Not very spicy but very flavorful

Tsok Wangun- Bringjal cooked in tangy tamarind gravy. I loved this dish and it was heavenly

We had all the above dishes with plain rice

We also had

Mujih Chatin: Or mooli ki chatni i.e. white radish grated and mixed with yogurt and chillies

And finally-

Kheer: It was complimentary and so so amazing. Not very sweet as I like it.

The interiors of the place are perfectly done and give a feel of Kashmir when you sit inside. The staff is nice and polite and the service is prompt. This place must be in everybody's bucket list. Special thanks to Mr. Sunil Mattoo for the lovely evening.

p.s.- AMAZING MUTTON DELICACIES, AUTHENTIC KASHMIRI FOOD & THE BEST KASHMIRI FOOD I'VE HAD IN MUMBAI.

One of the best places in oshiwara for some lip smacking mutton and kahwa. overall a good place to visit. The staff are very friendly and the sevice was good

Delicious food with good ambiance and great service that is what KongPoush promises to offer and I feel overwhelmed to see the response so far on Zomato as well as feedback given by all our customers who have relished the food at KongPoush – Kashmiri & North-Indian Cuisine.

Though I like all our dishes which we offer, since each dish is prepared with good intention and executed to perfection, there are few favorites of mine which include Troush Chamman, Tabakh Maaz, Seekh Kabab, Aatishi Aloo, Kokur Kanti, Fish Angara for starters. For the main course, I would recommend Roganjosh, Rista, Daaniwal Korma, Chicken Yakhni, Chicken Makhanwala, Methi Chamman, Haakh, Dum Aloo and Rajma. Phirni, Kheer, Gulab Jamun are my all time favorite desserts, while Kahwa (unique Kashmiri green tea) always completes the super meal.

With no added food colour and most of the ingredients sourced from Jammu & Kashmir, it feels good to have been serving Kashmiri cuisine in Mumbai for the past ten years and looking forward to many more years of dishing out Kashmiri as well as North Indian delicacies to the food connoisseurs in town.

Cheers and Happy Eating!

Well, this place deserves no less. I am 100% sure this is going to be a celeb frequented area soon. Located in the ground floor of the building I stay. Yesterday was my first visit to this place, and certainly not the last. They have an aura that makes the place special. The courteous behaviour of the staff, as well as the owners was really amazing. I was so pleased with their efforts in customer service that I would have given them a 5 rating based on just that. But then, after I tasted the food, it was difficult to decide whether food or service was the better of the two. Both were top class.
We ordered the following dishes:
STARTERS:

Buzith Kokur Kanti: Chicken Kebabs cooked really well. The pieces were succulent and perfectly cooked. Serving was along with kachumber onions and green chutney which were also very good

Fish Angara: The best of the best. I have not tasted better fish before. The pieces were so soft that they nearly melted in the mouth. It was so good that we repeated this order immediately after taking a bite.

Paneer Kali Miri Tikka: Paneer also tasted great. Soft pieces of paneer tikka in yogurt based spices. Too good.

MAIN COURSE:

Kokur Kong Poush: This was their signature chicken dish and it was really good in taste.

Methi Kokur: Generally what restaurants do is that they add methi masala too make the flavour like the name of the dish. They used a good quantity of Fenugreek or methi and the gravy was methi based. It tasted different in a good way.

Dum Oluv: Kashmiri aloo dum cooked in red gravy. The owner was really good and we liked his involvement with the diners. He asked us where we hailed from and told that he would made the taste to suit our taste buds, which he did. We loved the taste. I did not know potatoes could taste this well.

Butter Garlic Naan & Kulcha: The taste was good but I think the quantity of garlic used can be increased.

"They provided complimentary Dessert - Kong Khir I think"

All in all, a great experience, and I am glad this place is the nearest place to dine. I am pretty sure that I will be their frequent customer.

Will surely pay a visit again to try their other varieties of non veg starters, desserts and the special Kahwa.

Kudos to the management for a great beginning. All the best!

Eaten here a few times and loved it! Being a kashmiri I've never felt the kashmiri food served in restaurants is up to the mark but this place is authentic and does complete justice. Great for vegetarians as well, I'd suggest the Nadur Palak, Khatta Baingan, Dum Aloo

Perfect blend of authenticity and cooked to perfection when it comes to the original concept of Kashmiri Cuisine.
Creativity of KongPoush is not about how to cook Kashmiri Meat or Veggies but how to control the flame that it does not overdo the main ingredient as well as absorb the aroma of spices.
I have lived in Kashmir and tasted almost all the dishes including grandeur Wazwan.
Kongpoush made me relive those teenage years in a span of 40 minutes flat.
Excellent Hospitality coupled with great taste and proactive approach in service makes this place stand apart and a superb hit in the foodies lane...
I wish you guys all the very best, just make sure you maintain the same authentic atmosphere and taste to enlighten our mind and tastebuds.

Been to Kong Poush two or three times, had very good experiences there. A decent place to dine with your family.
One of a kind resturant (because resturants for Kashmiri cuisine are rare), especially those who love Kashmiri and somewhat of North-Indian food. Very authentic and a great concept.
The Tabakh Maaz, Rista & Ghoshtaba are a must for any kind of mutton lover. The Butter Chicken & Kokur Kanti a MUST for any kind of chicken eater. Also for the vegetarians there's amazing dishes like Razmah, Troush Chamman (Paneer), Nadir Palak. Lastly, the Kashmiri Kheer is to die for. Shouldn't miss on that, if you're fond of any kind of Indian sweet-dishes.
Also found the staff and management very effective and helpful. They were constantly asking us for our feedback and what should they do in order to improve any sort of thing. The owner/manager was very sweet as well. Also very quick with their home delivery. Also the prices are not hiked and the food, veg or non veg comes at a very decent price. Definitely not a hole in the pocket like resturants these days.
Being a foodie myself, feel like the chef(s) are very vastly experienced and they are all open to suggestions and constructive criticism. You can definitely enjoy a lunch or dinner at this place. The place was simple at its best.
Should definitely give a try here!
