Hidden gem
Shree Muthappan is the place you have to head if you want to keep it easy on your wallet and has delicious food too.
Don't look out for ambience here.
Mains
The appams are a must have.Parotas were soft and the chicken masala curry complimented well.(A must try)
Medu wada sambar was ok.you can give it a miss if you want.
Snacks
We tried the #sugian #wada (sweet snack made of green gram, grated coconut and jaggery)
And pazhampuri (banana fritters)
The tasted good but it wasn't served hot that's the only thing a miss.
With a budget of Rs .217 two of us had a happy and full tummy.
Really good Appam served here with teekhi chutney. The chutney is one of the best I have had so far. I also ordered rice, Channa curry and egg curry which was equally good in terms of taste and quantity. It's the best place for having quick bite. And the rates are also very less compared to other places with the same quality of food. Kindly please don't judge the place w.r.t. ambience. I bet you will like the food served.
This one surely deserves a review and that too a great one.
I found out about this place on Zomato while surfing for breakfast options as our cook didn't turn up and thanks heavens she didn't. Also, my mother had left for work and my father and I both can't cook for ourselves, well because patriarchy. No just kidding, we weren't in the mood to cook or toast a few slices also. So, we decided to "eat out" which we normally don't but this we didn't regret this instance at all.
The place is quite authentic in its decor and gives a feel of a traditional Kerala restaurant with its wooden seats with some steel bordering, you would understand if you're able to picture it.
We ordered the famous Appam, obviously duh, and Idli Sambar. The Appam was to die for, so good that we ended up reordering it. The fluffy as sponge in middle and crispy ends was one of the best things I've put in my mouth. The Idli Sambar was good but the real show stealer was the Coconut Chutney. Just how perfect it was, to put into perspective, it was served on the plate as opposed to a bowl, and neither did it form a lump nor did it run around the plate. It formed a perfect circle in which you could see minute pieces of coconut and chilli which was perfectly added making it balanced with the flavor of Coconut.
One thing which we missed having was Puttu which was unfortunately out of stock. I'm sure it would be delicious as I'm wondering it to be. Just can't wait to have it to stop my wonderment.
To end the breakfast, we had a cuppa tea and coffee which were pretty good as expected.
As far as the service is concerned, the staff is courteous and quick. They know how to deal with jerks as well and boy the one we saw was a dork. He was yelling at the manager for not giving enough Sambar for his parcel and then there was this entitlement "पैसे दे रहे हैं, फोकट में नहीं खा रहे" even after the manager agreed to his mistake and readily gave him that Sambar. Also, he threatened the server "आगे से कम दिया तो देख लेना" but that guy also handled it in a cool and calm manner not being too angry or too apologetic. They handled it in such a way that nobody's mood was spoilt and we ended up cussing that customer who wasn't actually wrong to begin with.
It was a great experience and planning to make it a weekly visit. I can't believe I'm saying this but now I'm eagerly awaiting the next time our cook doesn't turn up.
Overall, the food here is mouth-watering, appetizing, delectable and I can go on and on and on.
Shree muthappan eating house
The superb tasty.
Here the famous dish is appam which cost is also cheap.
The coconut chutney is dam tasty.
The shop starts at morning around 4:30.
It's really tast good.
Its a small place, not the one where you look for ambience etc. My favorite place when it comes to eating Appam 😋 n u can also try sada dosa. It opens early morning, so usually after nightout we visit this place & get rid of our hunger😜#Bhukkads
Rated 5 just for Appam🤘🏻

As good as it can get. Small outlet, neat and tidy, serving Kerala food in the simplest manner possible at such a reasonable price that you are sure to get delighted after having good food and just pay a fair value. Truly value for money deal.

One of the most amazing meal's. You are super hungry and no options at 5am. That time you need to visit this place.
The coconut chutney is to die for. Fresh, spicy and filled with flavours.
Sambar was tasty too, a little spicy.
Coffe was good too.
Amazing food and pocket friendly place. Best place for Sunday breakfast. Place is very close to the main road. Best filter coffee I had in Mumbai. Their appams and Vadas are to die for.
Good place for eating kerala style food. Love to visit here as it reminds me of my kerala food eating habits. Friendly owner quick service and they even accept party orders
Sunday morning's couldn't have been better. This morning eatery is famous for its appams which opens almost at 4.30 in the morning. The appams are soft and good in taste served with chutney and sambar. One can even try their Chana masala with appam along with filter coffee.
This restaurant is a great option to go for a pocket friendly early morning breakfast. It was full even at 6am on a Wednesday.
Offcourse, we had their famous Appam and it was delicious. We had tea and Fried Banana too, both were good. Place is small but hygienic.
Going to be a regular customer of this place.
Food: 4.5/5
Hygiene: 4/5
Value for money: 5/5
This is very old South Indian hotel and famous for appum.. almost everyone knows this place from Bhandup. I am having appum at this place from my childhood days... I never tried other food at this place..this will open in morning 5:00am. This hotel business almost 70% from appum. Don't expect good service but quality of appum is so good....
Something unique you will taste here...
l never seen this type of dish anywhere in Mumbai...
must try good appum...
It's a old typical south restaurant special for its appam , spicy butter milk and coffee not everyone will like it as everyone's tastebud can't get that taste of such delicious food but the food is worth it for those who like real south food . Plz don't go on the interior of the building as never judge the book by its cover.
It is one of the old restaurant in Bhandup. Get started from morning 4am. Serves you best uppam.. This is all time favourite breakfast point whenever I visit bhandup.. Soft uppam with spicy coconut chutney and sambhar.
S M eating house, popularly know as TKM in Bhandup serves one of the best Appam I've ever had. Spicy coconut chutney and Appam is their USP. They start at 4 am and is packed to capacity till 9 in the morning, it is impossible to get a seat on Sunday mornings.
They serve delicious chicken/mutton/fish masala (south Indian style) with Paratha that too priced around 100 Rs.
It's a total value for money place.
Every Sunday I visit this resturant only and only for Uppam. I atleast consume 7-8 uppams. I practically compete with my brother on how many uppams we consume. Do try their uppams. I bet no restaurant in mumbai such tasty uppams as they serve. I conclude my meal with their madrasi coffee, which beautifully ends my breakfast.
Famously known as tkm.. The only restaurant in Bhandup to start serving as early as 4... And it is so much crowded early morning no one can imagine.. Similarlly in the day time it is less crowded.. Must try appam n coffee
Famously know as TKM hotel. Itz one of the oldest restaurant in bandup area. Itz kinda old style still and managed by same family form decade. They even serve south Indian style food (non veg & veg).itz very much famous for south India food BT best thing is Appam and puttu. These two are the speciality of this restaurant
I am eating in this restaurant since childhood. I can tell you they make one of the best appam and coconut chutney..
Highly recommend it if you wanna enjoy a good breakfast in south Indian stlye..
S M Eating house as it is popularly known serves delicious Appams. It also serves other veg/non-veg south Indian fare through the day. But the USP of this place is its Speciality Breakfast Item "Appams" served with spicy coconut chutney n tangy sambhar.
It is also one of the very few eating joints which starts early in the morning at 5:00 am. And u will find tables occupied with patrons relishing Appams at 5:00 am in the morning too!!!
Its a relatively small joint and forget abt the ambience etc...just go there to relish the hot spongy appams and u won't be disappointed abt the taste
Amazing place. Way better than the Matunga south indian restaurants.
Shree Muthappan Eating House is a hidden gem at Bhandup on the Jangal Mangal Road. Appam is the speciality of this place and it is totally worth it. The appam is not the sweet round appam but the Malayalam style Appam like dosa. We also had Sada Dosa which was crispy till the last bite. Sambhar and Chutney are one of the best around Mumbai. Your meal should mandatorily end with filter coffee which has the correct amount of decoction and the required sweetness.
Other specialities are Pazham Pori(Kela Bhajji), Parotta, etc. which we couldn't try.
The hotel is clean and the staff are friendly. Owner is a good person and good to have a conversation with.
You can park your two wheelers outside the restaurant on the road.
The rates are way too economical for the quality of food served.
I would surely visit Muthappan Eating house again.
Cheers.
This is a very place situated on Jangal Mangal road, it's serves such a great appam. Overall it's a great place to have south Indian snacks, it also has lunch options and fish options which primarily serving breakfast options. It's such an old and lovely place. Highly recommended.
This place is famous for the Kerala style appam and it's always crowded.
I have been having Appam with Chana Masala for over 15 years now, the taste hasn't changed a bit. Must try this combo.
Awesome food taste usually like hot appam served with chutney and sambar
TYPICAL SOUTH INDIAN FOOD SERVED HERE. LIKE APPAM, MEDU VADA, DOSA, IDLI. EARLY MORNING YOU GET THE FOOD.
