Review Geeta Refreshments - Mumbai

Yogesh Sirdeshmukh
Geeta restaurant is very old typical south Indian restaurant in the corner of the building of the Dinanath Mangeshkar Theatre hall. For eating food any time of the day is best time but if really want to start your day with South Indian breakfast then be early (not too early) around 7:30/8 in the morning for the fresh medu wada, idali n uttapa. I have tried all three and all of them taste excellent.

The fry misal is must !!!!!! Not a big fan of misal but for sure I changed my mind now

Wery good indeed, all. A place where to eat again in.

Has been around for long but I did not try it until lately and I wasn't disappointed however you would want to stick to a few of your favourites to whatever suits your taste, you get to decide. I enjoy the puri bhaaji, the misal, the medu vada, the dosa and a good nimbu paani to wash it down. They serve thalis too, if you are up for a whole meal.
Malhar Pilvalkar
One of the oldest and best eating places in vile parle! Great place for authentic Maharashtrian and southern Indian food. Reasonable rates, good service. Corn Bhurgi is a must try specialty.

Located right opposite to Vile Parle (E) Geeta refreshments offers wonderful delight for early breakfast. Their Misal is must try. And, if you're seeking a refuge from an incessant downpour, perfect place for you to have chai and snacks. Another advantage, it's pocket friendly and still clean.

I have been visiting this outlet ever since I was a kid with my mom and both of us share a mutual love for this outlet...
I absolutely love their potato chips that they serve with cold sweet curd as well as their sweet lassie combined with fried misal... I love their mysore sada dosa, this place being the first place I tried it as well...

Their rasam is THE BEST I have ever tasted, I am not even kidding at this point. So is their tea, I genuinely love it along side a nice dish of sabudana khichadi that they serve with delicious sweet tasty dahi...to add to it their prices are the best one can get!!! Superb place.
Sarthak
If you're a pure parlekar, you'll be loving this place!!
It's mostly full of the typical middle class crowd which I belong to and love being around..
Their tea is awesome and so is their Mysore sada dosa..
I really love their sabudana vada and their potato fries cuz they serve it with a special sweet curd bowl which gives the usual potato chips a nice Indian Maharashtrian twist to it..
Do visit this place! I love it and you will too !

Geeta is a small South Indian restaurant near Vile Parle East station. I've been here many a time's for some light snacks or so. It's an average restuarant with simple food.

I ordered medu vada, it was nice but I've had better for the same price.

I also have tried thali from here, it was tasty. It had 3-4 sabji's, puri, curd, dal, papad, puri, gulab jamun etc and it was extremely filling.

Overall it's a good place for some quick bites and light snacks, also the thali is worth trying.

Ratings-
Food: 3/5
Ambience: 3/5
Service: 3/5
Price: 3/5
I Was Suggested Here To Have Their Fried Misal Pav If I Was Around Vile Parle East (There R Lot Of Food Joints In Vile Parle East)..So This Is A Very Small Joint Not To Crowded With Very Simple Ambience Fast Food Joint...Had Ordered Foe Their Fried Misal Pav The Misal Is Toased With Their Onion Tomatoes Pulses And Spices Its Medium Spicy Served With 2 Pavs For 80โ‚น...Misal Is Semi Gravy But If U Like It Liquidy They Also Serve Gravy Along If U Wish...The Misal Is Delicious I Had Never Tried Such Misal The Sevice Also Wont Take Much Of The Time...I Would Suggest Misal Pav Lovers In Mumbai To Try Their Misal If U Dnt Like Spicy Then Do Tell Them Ur Requirements...

Geeta , a small udupi restaurant in the compound of the well known Dinanath Natya Gruh sits besides the ever bustling Vile Parle train station! ๐Ÿญ

The food here is really delicious and USP of the place is its corn specialities! You won't find these dishes anywhere easily!๐ŸŒฝ๐ŸŒฝ๐ŸŒฝ

The ambience of the place is simple but the place is kept clean and is ideal for a quick bite or a small meal!๐Ÿ‘

We had Makai Bhurji , Dahi Misal , Medu Wada , Onion Uthappa & Caramel Pudding!โค

The Medu wada & Onion uthappa were good but one can find better and similar tastes at any other udupi restaurant!๐Ÿคจ

The Dahi Misal was something different , it had the classic misal mixed up with Curd which gave it a beautiful texture and a smooth taste complimenting the misal! Nice option for people who don't wish to burn up their tongues!๐Ÿ˜›

We were quite skeptical ordering a caramel pudding in a udupi restaurant but to our surprise it was quite delicious!
Perfectly sweet , the texture was good even the shape!๐Ÿ˜

The Makai Bhurji was the highlight of the meal! A spicy gravy along with cooked fresh corns! The flavour of the dish was through the roof. Argh!! Simply delicious! A must try item!๐Ÿ‘Œ

I found the place to be slightly overpriced as compared to the restaurant offering a somewhat similar menu but the corn dishes make up for it!๐Ÿ’ธ

Worth trying!
Hence recommended!๐Ÿ‘
The MadCar Foodies
Right opposite to Vile Parle station this restaurant serves tasty food at affordable price. This is for people who want to grab quick bites. Ambience and hygiene level is average as itโ€™s more of a simple non AC restaurant. Idli sambhar is quite tasty here. You might even spot few Marathi serial actors here ๐Ÿ˜Š

Certainly a go to place if you want to try misal pav.. as the fried misal is something unique they have.. south Indian food is average.. over all ok place to go once in a while if you want to change your regular go to place ..

A hidden gem. Located in the busy market area of Vile Parle East, Geeta is the best place to satisfy your hunger and calm your senses to reality.A perfect pocket friendly place. I visited this place twice and was equally satisfied both the times. In the first visit we had pav bhaji. It had fulfilling and perfect, the way any street pav bhaji has meant to be. The butter pav was dipped in butter. In the second visit, we asked the waiter what's the speciality, he told us "FRIED MISAL". We agreed and waited for our order. The taste was fried mial was to the other world. It has taste which is so different and tempting. Can't wait to eat it again.RECOMMENDED PLACE!!

Ever heard of fried missal and makai tikki? I certainly had not before stepping in Geeta refreshments. It has some unique and delicious food items.

What all I have had-

โˆ† Fried missal 5/5- loved it. I am craving for this since the day I had it. It's so different and thick not like the watery stuff that you get everywhere else. The only weird thing was that they don't serve pav along with missal.

โˆ† Makai tikki 4/5- Another different thing on the menu. It's huge like in the shape of a kachori and is super filling too.

โˆ† Sada dosa 4/5- we had to order something safe just in case the other two were a disaster.

Overall a very simple place like a typical little south India joint with very unique and delicious food.

I highly recommend this place and Fried missal.

Geeta Restaurant or I must say Refreshments, whatever you say it will give you the best quality food!!
A restaurant near the Dinanath Natya Gruh and close to Vile Parle Station which causes more no. of people attracted towards the restaurant!!
You might find difficulty in searching the restaurant as it is hidden behind the bus stop near the Dinanath talkies !!
It is just like a casual restaurant nothing much about the ambiance as you all the articles about the restaurant printed in the newspaper!
There are several dishes served here but there are few which are the best of best!!
Its specialty and the popularity gain is through the corn related dishes they served!
MAKAI PATTICE is one of the famous dishes and it is just awesome!!
It had all the nice soft covering with a different stuffing with corn which enhances the dish!!
Though on one plate there are only two pieces, so if you are big foodie choose wisely!!
They also serve Spicy Chutney which is just perfect and goes very well with the dish!
MAKAI BURJEE is also another dish which is awesome!!
The quantity and quality they provide really very nice!!ย
But it has that slight spiciness in it so you can even tell the waiter how you want mild or very spicy!
SHEERA is also nicely prepared and made in pure ghee!!ย
It was also not that sweet, which is ideal for elderly people!ย
It is a just awesome dish which you must try!
MISAL FRIED is one of the unique dishes they serve !! Which has its own unique masala added to it!!
but sometimes you might feel like normal misal which you get in another restaurant!
There are many other dishes which you try as per your taste!!
The Delivery is good but might face problem in the packaging of oily items so don't forget to get an extra carry bag!
Overall a must visit the place and the quality of food they provide at such is just fantastic!!

there is no option to few things and when it comes to Geeta Refreshment the equation holds balanced. May it be Rasam Vada or Corn Bhurji, Upma Sheera or Idli. It's served with Amazing quality and at affordable price .

This is quite a nice place near the station. The food quality was good ,but service could be improved.I had a thali ....it was quite ok but it was a bit spicy.....It was gud to try here....

Whenever I think of misal pav this is the first place that comes to my mind especially FRIED MISAL. You get amazing food here. Also their makai Pattice is heavenly . If you are in vile parle east head out to this place for delicious food . The only and only complain I have from this place is the cleanliness. I highly appreciate the food but their cleanliness is an utter disappointment.
Tushar Ghuge
This small but happening joint goes unnoticed.. Step in you are treated to sights of tasty unique snacks.. i ordered the Ragda Pattice to play safe & satisfy my hunger.. But delighted i was, never tried such a crispy yet soft & cheesy. Highly recommend

Please try the Rasam Vada here. It is just brilliant. The southindian cuisine menu is superb here, so give this restaurant a try. Food quality is great, no problems so far.

It's disheartening when small places like these go unnoticed very often. This is a small place (small but tidy), sometimes you would have to wait during lunch hours because its a little occupied then. It's just located behind the dinanath natyagruha wala bus stop and because of the bus stop spotting it becomes difficult. They serve thalis and missals and corn burji and a lot more and it's all good. The medu vada I've had here is much better than any other place in mumbai.
Reasonable food with good quality and quantity what more can one ask for.
Shruti Mor Gupta
Value for money, quick service udipi style joint. Half the items on menu not valuable at lunch time, fried missal okay but could have been better. ingrate was flat and sweet. dosas and chutney were good but sambhar again had a lot of sugar in it

BEST FRIED MISAL IN THE WHOLE DAMN WORLD !!!!

Tucked away in the bustling streets of Vile Parle (E) is Geeta Restaurant and this restaurant is subtly famous for FRIED MISSAL. This place is just below some Natya Madir or Hall something like it

Ambience: Well its like a Udipi with limited seating. Non AC ย Neat and clean

Coming back to Fried Missal. Now dont get scared by the unholy word "Fried" (Yeah for those who balance diet by ordering Diet Coke with Pizza) its only termed as 'fried' as the Missal served is Semi Solid like a Sabzi with Garvy soaked in and gravy is served separately with onions as condiments.ย

The dish is spicy and has hint of indian spices and garlic. It is served with two raw pavs to balance the spice.ย

After eating one portion (two person can eat one dish if you order 1 by 2) you dont have place in stomach for another dish. ย Its the feeling you get that Pet Bhargaya par Maan nahi Bharaa. (your stomach is full but mind is not satisfied)ย

This dish is 5/5 *****

I also ordered Masala dosa and Mysore sada Dosa and they were extraordinary. Chutney and Sambhar served is good. I ordered 1 by 2 dosa and to my pleaseant surprise i was served half dosa and my friend the other half, crisp and red showing sign of well roasted.ย

Dish 4/5

Servers are well mannered and service is always with a smile just like the owner sitting behind the cash counter.ย

Union Verdict: FRIED MISSAL blow your taste buds to Glory!!

Pocket friendly please and must try cheese corn pattice and shole bhature.
Late service but good response from waiters

Overall good for South Indian food.

Geeta refreshments is an old time classic restaurants in Mumbai serving limited yet yummy food.

Geeta is well known for its corn preparations. Their corn bhurjee is one of its kind dish. Although its bit heavy on pocket (last i remember paying โ‚น150 for a plate, yet the uniqness and taste is worth the money.

Breakfast menu is dominated by south indian dishes and are average and has nothing special to mention.

Do visit at least once for the corn bhurjee.

The small and unnoticeable place near Vile parle station serving surprisingly awesome food. The main reason to visit this place is their Fried misal. This unique and spicy misal is just soo awesome that I always end up ordering this one. Other than that, their corn special menu is also very famous.

Amazing place . Good food . Must try are all the makai dishes . Misal fry is amazing ๐Ÿ‘. Makai cheese balls๐Ÿ‘. Makai patties๐Ÿ‘. And makai bhurji a must try . Service really good . Ambience average bt clean . A must visit place in parle East . Happy fooding!!!!!!!!
Sneha
Had sandwiches and lassi on a sat evening . Both the quality of the sandwich and lassi was very good and filling. It is a place you go for a quick bite . This place does not have great ambience, seating or anything special however it is a descent enough place for quality food. Bear in mind it is non ac so it can get really hot. Service was descent and this place stays up to udipi mark

Satisfying experience...
Makai bhurjee is a 'must try' stuff over here..
Maysore anna was fine..
Puri bhaaji was also good..
Masala dosa is also recommended...
For rassam wada.. Rassam is too thin but preserves it's tangy taste..
Pineapple sheera is something you can end on!! Service is pretty quick... And waiters are polite too... Ambience is not a concern I think over here because it is meant to be a quick refreshment food court... I just hope place was not this congested and hygiene could be better.. Like many shabby restaurants I found a tint of oil on water they serve.. I prefer bottled water here mostly..
Srinivas Iyer
Typical udipi restaurant but good to try these items for sure
Corn balls
Corn pakoda
Corn bhurji
Green peas masala
rasam wada

Can surely avoid their biryani as its just v casual.

Overall real value for money as the quantity is also good enough

And yes...They take home deliveries for as low as an order of Rs 100 too
Pritam Nagrik
Not a big restaurant, but it still serves some good food. A bit congested seating arrangements. Bit compromise on hygiene. But this surely should be taken care of. Otherwise a good economical food joint.
@fishmonger
i just love their corn pattice and chutney. thats their signature dish apaet from other south indian fare including masala dosa medu wada they also serve very good tea. dont be surprised in case you bump in to marathi stage actors here as it is just below Dinanath theatre. A good place for morning breakfast for people who care about value for
money and do not mind average ambience.
Poonam Kale Haibat
Best place to visit if you care for real good food and doesn't bother much about ambience. If you are in Vile Parle east, this small eatery is bang opposite railway station hidden behind bus stop near Dinanath Mangeshkar Natyagruha.
Although their menu consists of most of the usual udipi dishes, their taste is distinctly different from other joints. Same old masala dosa, meduvada or idli tastes fresh n different in this place.
But their USP is their corn dishes. Must have is Makai Bhurjee. A very unique dish you will find only in Geeta. You have a option to have it with butterd or plain Pav. Very suttle yet spicy, yummy corn dish you will not find anywhere else. Other favorites snacks are corn patties, rasam vada, 3 in 1 utthappa, batata vada and again a very unique dish fried misal. They also serve lunch .... Punjabi vegetables and good old veg thali. Their palak paneer is must try; again very unique Geeta special taste. I have yet to found a item on their menu which is substandard.

First of all, it doesnt look like what I saw today. I guess they have renovated and made it a better place. Its opposite Vile Parle Station. There is a bus stop right in front of it. I had initially planned to eat at another nearby restaurant. But since, I was low on time, I chose Geeta. Actually, I got reminded of a friend who used to come to Vile Parle East everyday and had lunch at Geeta. Its very cheap and the quality they serve for those cheap prices is really good. Tried the Masala Dosa and Missal Pav. The Masala Dosa was good. Loved their chutney which was pretty thick. Sambhar was also good. The Missal Pva was also good. It tasted a little like the curry that my mom makes. It also had some Black Chanas in it. But one thing that I found common in both was that the oil was on the higher side. That could've changed. Service was good. Also saw cops eating at the place. The ambience is similar to that of an Udupi restaurant though. But I will recommend this place if you want good veg food at economical prices.
Rahul Patil
Geeta Refreshment... Very old name in Vile Parle East and they have maintained it for above average taste . I wont recommend this place to have dinner or lunch but if you want to try Indian Snacks with good taste then go for it. Its non-Ac old canteen type restaurant. Corn items are their speciality. Corn/ Makaai Pattice, Corn burgee and Fried missal with Paav are must try items. If u r planning to have south Indian items, please note that those are full of butter, few people like such buttery and few does not. I am one of frequent visitors and 99% of time I go there to eat Fried Missal....
Mihir Maskeri
Good for light evening snacks..
Service is a bit snappy
For your meal you have to be patient enough
Rasam wada, makai cheese balls are better compared to other dishes
The place specializes in corn dishes
Dr.Rugved Sawe
Worst hotel..have been good earlier..but now offering poor quality food ..old stale food..cold dosa and medu wada too sour
Not fresh.waiters not courteous..
I wont recommend this hotel apart from having tea and coffee
Anita
The cost of the food is reasonable and the quality is also very good. Order regularly from them
Yogindra Joshi
One of my favorite food places from last 30 yrs. The makai items & also the south Indian food items r awesome. I like the Thali also. Quick service & reasonable rates.
Nagesh Pai
Hidden behind the Dinananth Natyagruha bus stand, its got some amazing Misal and keeps up the modest Udupi tradition.
Varsha Naik
Good "on the go" eatery. Nothing fancy, basic "udupi joint" type seating and ambiance

I love their corn patties, Corn dishes are their speciality.

Fried misal-- a unique "tastperience"
