Review Indra Cafe's Paras - Mysuru (Mysore)

Jeevan Kumar Seerapu
I tried the Butter Mysore Pak here. It's so soft that it melts in your mouth. The service is too slow here. And also UPI is accepted for only 100 or more.
Vibhu Dhawan
Quick chai and chamcham on a busy hot day in the local market. Lots of crowd before the Vara Mahalakshmi festival, and this place provide solace from it. Right on the main road and superbly accessible. The chai was kadak and sweet. Great experience.

This place has the best tea I've ever had, and I'm saying this after visiting Ooty the next day! Must try. The place is generally crowded with people coming to Mysore, making the service slower. But the food is worth the wait. You get authentic dosas of Old Mysore here. There are also fresh sweets of different kinds available on the shop. The issue is that even with so much inflow of visitors, the staff do not understand proper Hindi or English which creates a barrier if you have to ask anything apart from the dish names. Also, parking is an issue since the building is right on the main road. But if you're going to Mysore early morning from Bengaluru, and want a breakfast place, would definitely recommend this one!
Mahesh Hegade
Good taste with little bit higher price. Atmosphere is not good and place looks not hygienic. We had Set dosa and Tea both was good. Do not order 1/2 coffee/tea they give half quantity but charge 85% full tea price.
ARAVINDH R
Good breakfast place near palace. Today we try few dishes like 1. Masala dosa 2. Idly 3. Poori 4. Coffee All taste good Good service Nice atmosphere

This has been a famous restaurant for many of the mysoreans including me. Masala dosa and tea are good here. The restaurent is often crowded as it's located opposite to the market . This is a better place for snacks and sweets rather than meals. I see some people are giving low ratings because North Indian food is not good. Come on guys it's a South Indian restaurant and not a north one. Try masala dosa, sweets and then give rating 😉

I visitited the restaurant in the very early hours of 22nd Feb. The place is awesome with attending staff, options for a light eat even in those hours. Mohan provided us with excellent service and took care of our needs in those very early hours. He invited us to have their awesome breakfast spread, which we had to decline as we had to leave. My greatest compliments to karnatka city centre restaurant and to Mohan. Will surely visit this place again. It also is an excellent place to have a business conversation. Indra cafe...

Bang opposite Gurus sweets. Great for breakfast. Do try Set dosa here. They have meals and sweetmeats too. I dare say, their sweets are better than the sweetmeat shops!
Hemalatha P
A hotel in an ideal location where we need to eat and immediately go because of the market area... Good food, moderate prices.... Please check the wash rooms...

I've been visiting the place for the last 13 years and I love both the Q&Qs of their food and service. The ambience will take you to the yesteryears which is a great experience along with the food. Rasmalai and Basundi are my favourites. Lovingly continuing my visiting the restaurant into 2023🥰😍 Even the masalae dosae is very tasty and they serve Gobi manchuri @ ₹60, which is very delicious as well. The trend of hot jamun isn’t quite well spread here in south India. These guys serve hot gulab jamun among many other sweet dishes. They are experts in sweets and namkeens.

The food is here is just amazing.
Price: 4/5
Staff: 3/5
Food: 5/5
Overall a very good experience.
Looking forward for another visit.

Indra Cafe Paras Restaurant, Sayyaji Rao Road, Mysore

Mysore's yet another iconic old eatery! Indra Cafe is one among the legendary eateries of Mysore, if you ask you parents or forefathers then they will start describing about the memories associated at this place. Parking is bit an issue, two wheeler parking may be available if you are lucky. Due to the above reason, I haven't visited this place for few years now.

Heard they are famous for Channa Bathura so ordered the same. Honestly I'm not a fan of Channa Bathura even this didn't impress me much but my friend who was nostalgic about this place loved it, so you can give a try. Milk Cake which impressed me at the first glance was delicious, unlike many other places this was more darker in color. What I loved the most is their 'Butter Mysore Pak'! I have had regular mysore pak, special mysore pak, Horlicks mysore pak and many cousins of it but this Butter Mysore Pak is something new to me, starting from the shape of it to taste, it is just brilliant. Though looked hard, it was literally melting in my mouth, not to sweetness is one more highlight of this. Highly recommended!

Pricing is pocket friendly, both ambiance & service gives you vibes of an age old eatery. Parking an issue, catch an Ola and enjoy Butter Mysore Pak.

Taste: 4/5
Ambiance: 3.5/5
Service: 4/5
Value For Money: 5/5

Its a liitle crowded place.

We ordered aalu puri, masala dosa and rasmalai.

The dosa was good. But I didn't like aalu puri and rasmalai.
Masala dosa tastes good.Sambar was not good
Rasmalai was little more on the liquidy side and tastes average.
Aalu puri was something like puchkaas stuffed with dahi and chatni with some khastha over it.
Shreya Gowda
Good service
Huge crowd and the best food
Must try for all
From South Indian to North Indian
Food is best here
At the end filter coffee ,no words to describe
Best place for south indian food
Rasmalai was so good!

One of the most iconic places in Mysuru - opened in 1956...Not too many restaruants would have survived for so long....the taste is same all over the years...Frequented by lot of foreigners which shows how people trust with the quality and hygiene...must place to eat, when you are Mysore...
Malvi Malli
Well,i had this place in my mind for a long time now, finally gave it a try..The Chow chow bath was yummm..even masala dosa was good, crispy.coffee too .chats wer also equally good.

Visited this restaurant after my visit to Mysuru palace. A crowded place you may have wait minimum 10 minutes to get a table. Was a bit lucky had to wait less than five minutes.

Vehicle parking may not be easily available as it's located in a busy bazaar area.

Was a bit tired and hungry so decided to try the South Indian thali and Fruit salad with ice cream. Desi Pan was part of the meal was nice.
The first dish was good and enjoyed my meal.

Food 3.2 out of 5.0
Ambience 2.5 out of 5.0
Service 3.3 out of 5.0

this place is legendary and famous, a simple casual dining restaurant in Chamrajpura near to the market. the place is always crowded and packed on any given day, it's a pure vegetarian restaurant majorly with South Indian cuisine items on the menu along with few North Indian items as well, the food prices on the menu are very reasonable. the one thing about this outlet is that you can get chaat's even during lunch times, service is quick.
Ashishkhicha
With little rush, We have to wait for your turn.. the rule is find a table with guest moving out and then sit in chairs. The waiters are not responsible for the same.
Lot of items were not available at 9pm. North indian is not good. But rice is okay.
Foodgasmicabhi
Indra's Cafe is situated near the city bus stand. This place is good for having some casual South Indian snacks and also serves some good North Indian food. We ordered North Indian thali and it turned quite decent for 130 Rs. Service is somewhat slow but that didn't bother you much. Good place to go if you're around city bus stand.
Reshma Pawankumar
Good location of being near to the palace. Food is okayish. Less options though. Found that the place is much preferred by the morning walkers and joggers. Good to have breakfast in the morning here.
Shashank Narayan
I ordered baby corn and gobi manchurian.. gobi manchurian was out of stock in restaurant so replaced by mango milk shake..
truly saying milk shake was so tasty .. and Baby corn was less oily and can improve on taste of starter ..
Gautam Sameer
An age old pure vegetarian restaurant of Mysore at the heart of the city.

As kids it used to be a luxury to say, you'd lunch at Paras.

Yes, a place to visit with family to have their north Indian lunch. They've maintained the place amazingly well.
Rajasundaram Karuppiah
Mentioned 10pm closing time but at 9pm itself most of the items were unavailable. Moreover took 25 minutes to bring the food ordered.. Can try some other restaurant.
Prakashrangaraju
The most irritating restaurant in Mysore I visited. Ordered masala dose for 4 and fried rice for 1 got dose in 10 mins no ghee or no oil on it dry dose chutney not that taste . And got that fried rice after 40 mins of order very idiotic waiters, I don’t know how people are so stupid to come and wait for food here while hotel staff doesn’t care about waiting people. Even fried rice is blunder no spices no salt no taste. A big black mark for mysore hotels. I strongly advise not to visit this restaurant.
Rohan Merchant
The popularity of this place can be gauged by the fact that it was packed at 3pm in the afternoon.
Lot of variety in the menu. It's one of the few places in town which serves dosa in the afternoon. While a purist would scowl at the mention of the same, it turns out to be convenient for many.
The Set Dosa I ordered was nice and fluffy. The Saagu was spiced well and completed it. The chutney was average.
However the service is a big downer. You'll have to search hard without assistance to find a seat and spend a lot of time waiting for someone to take your order which then comes after quite a while. They could improve on that.

Overall a very reasonable place for multi cuisine options in town.

Bon AppĂŠtit

Shopping at mysore and at 4 pm there wasn’t lunch being served anywhere .. we grabbed a quick bite here ,
Tried the set dosa and Pav bhaji , decent taste and decent ambience . Not too expensive !

Best in class food and service with good quality and history of mouth watering eateries whenever I travel to Mysore I make sure I visit this place

In all honesty my father still remember this place when they were in their glory days and when he was coming here as a kid for their food and savouries, but on my recent visit I can clearly see they're slowly but surely losing that glory. The place is just apt as any old restaurants that have stood for all these ages. The food definitely not one of the best but they have changed over the time. What was highly disapponting was the service. Snail speed if I must say. And this in-turn affects the people's wait time, as the people who are on the table are waiting for food which takes ages to get on the table, and the people waiting for the table continue to wait for anyone to finish their meal and leave. We came here for lunch at 2:30 and were done at 3:30. The people who came next were so happy they got the table but they had to decide not on a lunch but the snacks as the lunch was stopped by the time they got the table. If they could just speed up the service I'm sure their glory will return.

Tired and hungry roaming around the Mysore palace?? Go grab a quick bite at this place 💞
✴️ Their rava dosa was very crispy and the sagu couldn't taste any better 😋
✴️Masala dosa was very authentic and tasty as well
✴️You must try their cutlets served with 2 kinds of chutney
✴️Don't forget to end your meal without their filter coffee☕
✴️In addition to this they are famous for the sweet meat and the namkeen they sell here🤗

Whenever I visit Mysore, I never miss Mysore Dosa and Mysore Pak (Parcel) from here. Yummy! I'm loving it. Kudos. Next time I shall explore more items in the menu.

Worst and time wasting place.
I never give that much review for any restaurant but this restaurant wasted my important time, so here it is:
If you are not looking for good taste and you have sufficient time and money to waste then this is the best option. They don't care of any specific requirement of the customer just like when we told them not put mushroom in our curry, after eating half of curry we found mushrooms and we were asked to pay for such curry. Paneer fried rice was just like the normal rice.
Cleanliness is also poor despite of naming as a cafe. We were sitting like a 'bhandaara' where whatever they are offering we have eat that otherwise we are supposed to wait for 15 min for every item you order.
Mandar Kadam
It will be too optimistic to be called a Cafe, yet a nice old styled food place, situated in Mysore city, vicinity from all shopping centres...hustling and bustling...constant ins and outs of customers... with waiters running around taking orders and serving food...

Tried this while on Mysore city vacation, tried Mausambi juice, Badam milk (hot) and my favorite Shavige Bhath...

No complaints about taste, loved the Shavige Bhath...

One little suggestion will be to keep place more clean...else good outlet to get old city feel...
Aish
Well, I'm yet not certain how to feel about the place, the food was alright. We had a south indian meal, a set dosa, coffee and masala puri.
Masala puri was not tasty, just a bunch of ingredients that were supposed to taste decent, put together.
The south thali was alright, but wasn't hot or even warm.
The coffee was tasty as you'd expect in the south.
The dosa was obviously good.
Crowded and might take a while to get a table.
Just an average hotel. Food is just ok. Nothing great. We ordered masala dosa, idly vada and yellikai chitrana. Seating is just ok. Taste was ok.

Location /area: it is a prime location.... Just Opp to the famous guru sweets that specializes in mysuru paak and Gajar halwa..... Very close to the market area....
Staff : language barrier, but inspite of this struggle, they were polite and calm....
Food: Pav bhaji was not so delicious... It was expected to be so as they use local spices....this is why I had requested for South Indian food which they are specialized into... Unfortunately no dosas during evening... This is the old story in South India.. Vegetable pulav was good but not beyond expectations... and cold badam milk was the best amongst all.... It touched my soul... Served in a paper glass though.... I think I had a wrong food at right restaurant due to its unavailability... This is why I do not feel like giving bad ratings... Let's do justice.....
Elaiya Bharathi
Very very poor service. Everytime to order they are taking about 15 minutes. They are refusing to service the menu stating it will take further late. If you are a tourist, Please avoid for saving your time.

I and my friend went for dinner. We had Plain dosa, pav bhaji and Masala puri. The dosa was crispy and good. The pav bhaji was awesome and I loved the bhaji very much. The masala puri was different in taste with some boondis sprinkled on the dish. On the whole, I loved it and had a good dinner. The bill was very cheap and I would recommend this hotel to everyone visiting Mysore.

Masala uppetu (upma), kesari bath, Masala dosa and coffee are a must try and one of the best in the area. North Indian thali is decent. Very diverse and pocket friendly menu.
Nihal Rao
One of the oldest food joints in Mysuru. The food quality is good. Although I feel over the years it has decreased as well as the service. Still relatively this is the best mid-range restaurant in Mysuru.
Ambience - 3.5/5
Cleanliness- 3.5/5
Food - 3.5/5
Value for money - 4/5

Don't miss, hot Idli Sambaar here. U will love it. Superb Kesari Bhath too. All other items are satisfactory. Masale dose is equally good. Filter coffee yummy

Been here plenty of times! Good, clean, fast. Those 3 words define this place. Am mostly here for the kesari bath and the coffee. Both are delicious! Do try!

Awesome Coffee, Masala Vada was like home made.. Good value for the price and pleasant service. Am done with my comments, but Zomato wants me to type at least 140 characters :-)

Delicious food and excellent service from all staff especially Ramesh. Would recommend the Dahi Vadai or Gobi Manchurian. Anyone who enjoys simple vegetarian food cooked to perfection should visit Paras.
Harshita S
They have the most amazing Idli and Sambar, and not to forget their Masala Dosa and Rava idly. Its a very old place but is still one of my favorite places for breakfast.
Lakshay Goyal
I have dined at many many places all across the country but this restaurant just stand out. It is more "PATHETIC" than you can even imagine. The services here are horrible and the waiter here is so rude as if I am asking money for the food I eat. Also remember that you need to order everything in one go if you feel like eating something more than you have already ordered(even a single chapati) they will just refuse and you will get the subzi along with 1 chapati in 50-60 mins and rest chapati after another 45-50 mins and maybe they will refuse to some items that you ordered after you are only waiting for it particularly for 30-40 mins. And the owner, man the owner he will just blow your mind. Awesome owner who shouts on his customers and complains to them that he has been sitting there since 3 hours continuously(really!!! 3 hours!!!! we work 9 hours a day man).

Absolutely horrible place to dine. Please avoid. Worst service and even worse service staff. This is what my plate looks like after 45 minutes of order. Kindly learn and avoid in future.
Kishor
My favorite place for a plate of Channa Bhatura and veg cutlet. This is a iconic place still serving their years of expertise in the hotel industry . They are adapting and surviving the changes and threats of modern demands of customers by maintaining the uniqueness they have kept all over the years . This is a classic southern restaurant.
Parking may be a problem but it is highly suggested that you stop by for some chats when you are in Mysuru city on Sayyaji Rao road.

Ambiance 4/5
Service 3/5
Wait time 3/5
Food 4/5

Main adda of many mysoreans... Luv the masala dosa and coffee/tea along.. meals is also good at the noon time.. been here many times and love the coffee taste!

This cafĂŠ is located near the main market and is established in 1956 as it says.
Masala Dosas and Rava idly are popular here. They also provide north Indian food which is pretty decent. Please reach the cafĂŠ by 7:30 pm, as many dishes would be over by 8.

Ambience: 4.0 / 5.0
Taste: 4.0 / 5.0
Value for money: 3.5 / 5.0
Service: 3.5 / 4.0

Was here twice some time ago. Once on occassion of a friends Sisters wedding(they have a hall upstairs) and next a year later
Being from Maharashtra, the south indian delicacies are a magnet. The Dosas and coffee are true to the south Indian taste
Ankit Gupta
This restaurant is serving south Indian food
You must try south Indian thali in this rest prices are reasonable but they should improve their ambient.
Shobha Maruthy
One of the good and a decent eat out in Mysuru. Located near the flower market this is one good restaurant to crash after shopping. Coffee is the highlight of this place. We liked the coffee so much that we went back to try food. We ordered idli, masla dosa and masla puri. All tasted well. One has to try basundi , its mouth wateringly yummilicious. Will definitely go back to this restaurant next time when i am in Mysuru.
Best to try south indian thindies.
Afreen Shaikh
This is a cafe just opposite the famous Guru sweet mart which is known for its Mysore Pak and Gajar ka halwa. We tried rava onion dosa and masala dosa, both were really good. We wanted to try their basundi, but it was over by then. They have several flavours in Mysore Pak that includes horlicks, milk, butter and chocolate, but believe me none better then the original at Guru sweets.
Aayush Jain
Its an average place with pathetic service. The food is not great. We ordered baby corn and paneer Manchurian. They were bad. The fried rice we ordered was okay. We also had desserts, to taste from the shop. That was good.
Mahesha M
Visited this place almost a year back. This is one of the oldest and well known restaurants. I went for breakfast here and opted for their signature dish idly vada and sambar. Its very good in taste and you would feel worth the price you pay. To sign off you could go for coffee which is equally good. It gets too crowded and difficult to find place during peak hours.
Pushpit Kharbanda (Bhukkadh Singh)
Food: 4.5/5
Ambience: 4/5
Service: 3.5/5

Okay honestly, whenever I used to pass by this restaurant, I used to think of it as another South Indian Restaurant with a huge menu which would probably have it's own southern essence in the North Indian Food and obviously good South Indian Food. Now I've been to this place thrice already and I definitely hold a different notion.

This is one of the good joints in Mysore which actually do proper justice to the North Indian Food as well. They have a good variety on the menu and the food tastes really authentic. It's well known for their Chaats and for their Thalis in the afternoon.

I tried a North Indian Thali, Palak Paneer, Pav Bhaji and my friends tried the Special South Indian Thali and also Basundi (a dessert). I really think all the things were really good, ample in quantity (Palak Paneer could have been served more though) and taste wise perfect.

The best thing about it is that it's not at all costly. You can eat your heart out and won't see a bill more than about Rs 600 for four people.
The ambience is okay. It doesn't have the quite environment but the seating is comfortable. The service here was quick but when crowded, the only waiter that plies to your table would deal with you. If yours is not visible and you call another one, they'll simply ignore you. That was somewhat strange and stupid according to me though.
Overall I really appreciate and recommend this place.
Yogender Vashist
One of my worst experience in Mysuru..we went there for dinner & ordered nan & side dish...after a while we ordered extra naan to different waiter than who taken our order..after waiting for 20 mins & after reminding to him he send the first waiter to us for what we want...we felt very cheated here...pls avoid such places...food also average & so is the ambiance..

After complaining to owner he also dint take it seriously & was not interested in talking to us.
Chandan A
This place is such a waste. If you are well aware of South Indian taste then you will definitely hate this place.
We had been here one evening. Ordered Bonda Sambar, Chats, Masala Papad, Masala Vade n Pav Bhaji. Not even single item of these worth tasting.
Pramod
We ate our breakfast at Indra Cafe Paras during our recent trip to Kabini via Mysore. The food is good and well worth the money. During breakfast, the restaurant gets a good crowd and can be difficult to find a seat. We had few different items to fill up our tummies before the onward journey to the next destination. Food options are traditional south india breakfast varieties at affordable prices. We also packed some food for our lunch which turned out to be a good thing we did. Even after few hours, the food tasted good.

Ahhhh.... Visiting here feel like pyaase ko kuva mil gaya...
Dialouges apart but really awesome food..
Specially when u r struggling with some good food to eat.

Was struggling for good food since last 1 n 1/2 day n the searching hunt ends here...
Very reasonable # good taste # awesome satisfaction..
Well , Story would have great long time ago...now it has lost his charm...I still remember I had my first sizzlers in this place .but now it is just a old place people come and have food and walk out...I remember my mom said she had a meal from this restaurant before she got admitted to hospital to give birth to me.....;) , now she also not interested in visiting this place ...The charm and quality is lost somewhere..... RIP

A very traditional place with some authentic South Indian and North Indian food. I tried the veg cutlet and it was good. Loved the way the gave it with the salad and onions and the 2 chutneys. The dosa was good too!
Hemanth Thumaty
I ordered set dosa it's so delicious and crispy, you wil, get 3 chutneys with that that will melt there .If you wanna eat authentic south breakfast you should step in there. should try even the beverages
Gautham Gomzi
I highly recommend this resturant to the tourists who come to Mysore. Chats r too good to have and even dosas r too good to eat. Don't ever miss having chats here
Adesh Jain
All chat items, dosas, vada, north Indian dishes were good. But Manchurian need to be improved. A great place to have good with family and friends. Would definitely recommend it.
Swanand Jadhav
Highly Recommended.
If you are a tourist and want to have Breakfast/Dinner/Lunch this is the place to go. Serves wonderful tasty South Indian Food. Very Clean, hygiene is a huge concern around here in Mysore with some of the restaurants I visited. Do try Sweets and Thali here.

Good place, missing the taste of authenticity, when i say that... I compare it with bangalore sambhar and chatani..
Taste 7
Ambiencd 5
Service 5
Value for money 8
Overall 6

Good restaurant for a proper South Indian meal. You will like the place if you enjoy dosa with sambar & chutney followed by a tea as a finisher!

Mysore being my hometown I feel proud to review these legendary restaurants which are still surviving even with the influence of other culture. This is the first place I got to know the meaning of 'full-meals'. My parents used to bring me here once in 3 months or 4 just to have a change and sumptuous lunch. Apart from parking problems in Sayyaji Rao road, I fell anyone should make no excuse to dine-in here at least once. Loved the Ice-cream they give at the end, staff needs to b more trained on behavior and serving to cater wide range of customers. And last but not least, cleanliness. Please concentrate on it.
