Review Orchid Restaurant - Mysuru (Mysore)

Gaurav Agarwal
Had great experience staying in the hotel. Got to enjoy both buffet dinner and breakfast Buffet dinner was good and tasty, service was prompt. Though you would find a few things cold because of less footfall, the trick is to get dishes from the bottom of the container. Service was top notch. Buffet breakfast spread is awesome with a variety of items from all over the country as well as international cuisine. As expected from ITC. Thanks to Atisa, Zana, and Vinayak for taking care of us! Awesome service and great experience!

The place has a great ambience. Shyam, who waited on our table offered great, cheerful service. Our order was based on his suggestions (I asked for his suggestion). The Cream of Chicken Soup was quite good, not as bland as most places. For starters we tried Mysuru Chilli Chicken and Mutton Seekh Kebab. While the Mysuru Chilli Chicken is something I would recommend, the Seekh Kebab though was good , ended up being mince by the time I took a bite. For the main course it was Butter Naan and Mutton Rogan Josh and Mutton Biryani. I like the Mutton Biryani. But Rogan Josh was nothing great. The problem with Butter Naan was that, it was served when we were still having our starters. By the time we had it, it was rubbery. Aside from that everything else was good. Good service always offsets slight inconveniences.

Abhishek helped us have a fab experience. Service was top notch. The entire hotel and restaurant could do with a face lift. Resembled a 3 star place

We were staying at the JP Fortune Palace and breakfast and one meal included in the package. Zana and Vinayak from Orchid restaurant went out of their way to make us comfortable. We were traveling with an 1 year old infant and they made sure we have everything we need, even cooked custom meal for the baby. Breakfast spread is diverse and really tasty. Main course menu is good as well. Overall it was a pleasant experience to dine at the Orchid restaurant

Visited the restaurant for dinner. This was apart from normal breakfast served during our stay at Mysuru JP Palace. The restaurant is located just adjacent to lobby with good seating capacity. Normally buffet is served here but for dinner order form menu is also available. Portion size is good and service by staff (Mr Sharif) was excellent. Food was tasty. Considering rates it offers full value for money.

Amazing food! Loved the breakfast spread here - not just the variety but also the quality of it. A la carte options are also equally good. Kadhai chicken was great. The bread basket felt overpriced with two tiny breads in it. It was like having tandoori roti of the size of a small phulka. Everything else was great.

The restaurant is near the elevators on the ground floor inside the fortune jp palace hotel. It has options of a la carte and buffet too, prices are 500 on weekdays and 600 on weekends inclusive of all taxes. Buffet has good spread and they cater additional requests too.

The place is good, tidy and clean. The staff is very polite ,I went for a lunch buffet and I think the food was good. A little more variety would not hurt though

ITC food is always good, it’s a typical coffee shop with multiple choices, the buffet breakfast is excellent the spread and local variety is huge loved the South Indian cuisine. The ambience is fair , service is very swift and responsive.

We went for a la carte menu. All items ordered were very good. Special mention to veg biriyani, special dal and veg burger. Only tandori rotis were like brittle paper nd burnt. We enjoyed the meal otherwise.

Perhaps a wrong a choice for a dinner date. I had been here on 7th of February. After searching a lot of places in and around Mysore , we thought Orchid must be the one. We walked into the restaurant around 8:30 pm. Warm welcome from the staff. We find a place to sit. We goto the Buffett section and thinking what to start . I was like, what? Is that it ? It had too less items for vegetarians and none of them were HOT.

Soup:
It was good.

Starters:
The only starter I liked was Beetroot veg kabab.
The rest of the starters looked like a sides for Roti.

Mains:
Less option for vegetarians (nothing was Hot)
Noodles was good.

Dessert:
Had a lot of option.
Cakes were not that fresh.

For an 4 star hotel, I expected a lot and got disappointed.

The service guy was nice, so that extra star is for him who said that he would take my review to the Chef and concerned dept.

Areas of Improvement:

Live station would be great
No Chaats
Ask for instant review to your guests if they are happy with the food.

Went for lunch buffet -
#Ambiance is nice and can accommodate large groups
#Options are quite good
#Less numbers of desserts
#Had to wait a bit for any roti/naan dishes .

Overall ,worth visiting with given price in Mysore .

We tried the restaurant in the 4th floor as we were not hungry to opt for buffet.
Ambience is excellent.
Taste was awesome. Liked the panneer platter very much. Soup was great. Biriyani was too goood. Only drawback is number of items in the menu is very less.

Following our stay at the JP Palace, we had breakfast at the Orchid. They had a variety of options for the buffet as well as a few à la carté options too. We had a scrumptious breakfast and enjoyed the stay. Kudos! Team Orchid.

We stayed here so we had dinner buffet n morning breakfast here. Breakfast was perfect and would have given a 5 only for breakfast. They served good tea which is rare. But the dinner buffet wasn’t so great. Advise would be to fill the empty vessels as soon as possible. Keeping it empty and making ppl wait in a buffet not a good thing. E.g. I waited for a long time for the white bread. I would also personally like to see their kitchen. I’m skeptical because while we were leaving we saw lunch preparations going on n it was hard to tell if veg n non veg was separate. I felt it was the same chef making both the things at the same time. I may be wrong but I do have my doubts n being a vegetarian it bothers me a little. Although v know deep down there is no guarantee in any of the restaurants which serves both unless u see the kitchen.

this Restaurant comes under 5 star category so 18% GST is applied on your bill instead of general 5% GST, so keep that in mind.

we went there for dinner buffet, was quite impressed with the ambiance and the arrangement of the buffet area.
Great buffet spread, menu keeps changing everyday, they have chaat section at the buffet area
where you can prepare and decor your own chaat as per your liking and taste,
salads sections had good varieties of veggies and with lot varieties of salad dressings which you can customize as per your liking.
main course spread was very satisfying, starters were good, you can also have bread, butter and chutney as well.
also they have Butter milk and jaljeera Dispensers at the buffet area, where you can fill in your glass with butter milk and jaljeera how much ever you want and when ever you want, very impressive never seen anything like that at a buffet restaurant.
dessert section was jaw dropping, it had more than 12 varieties of sweets & pastries plus 3 varieties of cut fruits, the most that I've seen in dessert section of any buffet restaurant.

ambiance fits the 5 star standard, very thoughtful seating arrangement and lighting, service was up to the mark.
the buffet is little expensive but it's complete worth of a 5 star experience, it truly lived upto the mark of word good hospitality (at least in my opinion)

Food - 4.5/5
Value for the Money - 4.5/5
Service - 5/5
Ambience - 4.5/5
Overall - 5/5

We had buffet breakfast and a la carte dinner. It was an average breakfast as served in most hotels of the same category. They offered north Indian, south Indian and continental spread.

There was nothing so special taste wise nor anything wrong to pin point. For dinner we were too tired to have anything so we just had pakora platter. Palak paneer, Roti, Jeera rice and dal. If you are at mysore and looking for a luxurious stay to for this hotel.

They won't disappoint in terms of hospitality, food, service.. I never saw any locals coming to dine there during our stay. We only saw tourists. Hence not writing much on food as they did not disappoint us at all when it came to food not were they exceptionally great.

A multi cuisine restaurant open 24/7 . A good place to grab a late night grub , it even serves biryani after midnight good for those who are tired of simply settling for finger foods past midnight. Buffet and Ala Carte is available. The chef and their staff our very particular to soothe and appetize the palate of their guests.
Their breakfast is an elaborate spread including both North and south indian delicacies as well as continental options to choose from.
Pancakes, uthapam , pudding and gulab jamun are delectable .

Their buffet is reasonable and you will get a lot many varieties in the buffet, wether it is a desert or chutney or drinks or anything. Few dishes were not up to the mark like we had twice breakfast buffet and both the time donuts were hard,it was not so soft as it should be. But at the same time most of the dishes were very delicious.
Rest other things like service, aroma were top-notch.

When 30 people from different parts of South Asia descend at the hotel after a tiring journey, how do you make them smile and feel relaxed. Bring them to OrchidFortune JP Palace. This place is sure to enthrall you with food, service and attention to detail.

The impeccable service team headed by Sanjay Singh F&B Manager and Nagendra who look after every detail will make your dining experience even more memorable.

Pro Tip: Keep some space for the desserts. They are yum to taste and gorgeous to keep looking at.

We stayed at fortune jp palace for a few days. Hence enjoyed the complimentary breakfast everyday.
The food is fresh and the quality is really good . there is an abundant number of options too.
Except the dishes in the buffet there are eggs dosas that u can order to the table. We loved the mysore masala dosa , fresh fruits , danish crispy pastry , cold coffee , soaked methi and almonds , puri , sambar and wedges . i wouldnt recomend the aloo paratha , upma , baked tomato , milkshake , muffin.
The staff are extremely nice , good ambiance and service.
Today there was to die for gulab jamoon . highly recomend

Totally loved the food here!
This fancy hotel serves really great food with good ambience. I liked each dish I ordered. The place is obviously high on price but it's worth once in a while.
Cottage cheese & corn steak was really good and filling. Crunchy mushroom was surprising, it was like mushroom cheese balls. It cost me around 1000 for 2 dishes & a drink, expensive but worth a shot!
Taste: 5/5
Ambience: 4/5
Service: 3.5/5
We went to the place on a diwali weekend for a 2nights stay at the hotel and the multicuisine restaurant has got to offer us a good ambience with decorated lighting and floral arrangements which we entirely liked. Buffet have been served for lunch, but we have choosen an ala carte considering two factors; that we eat in small portions and a thousand rupee buffet per head doesn’t looked worth enough. We ordered a chinese non-veg dish and some murgh biriyani. And the biriyani was one of the top class spicy yummy one that can be compared to a hyderabadi dum biriyani which is almost just perfect but the non-veg dish was not welldone i should say with some uncooked meat flavour. And the buffet breakfast they served is almost balanced with continental and indian dishes. Highlight was the crispy chocolate doughnut which i liked the most out of it. The dinner that served us some wheat parathas and an aloo dish was disgusting ! And for the drinks we ordered they gave us something different, which i had to explain how it is originally served and we waited for an hour for them to fix the drinks later. Overall experience was good but they neglect the minor mistakes that can be a great turn off otherwise!

the location though being central.. the staff service is pathetic.. the food quality n taste was average and they cannot seem to get right any of their speciality items... fir ex. instead of italian minstrone soup they served chinese one... for brownie with icecream.. they served brownie first and ice cream half hr later... m still here in the resturant writing the review while waiting for the cheque tat i requested half hr ago...

Buffet is OK and too expensive for the spread. Taste is not that great considering the choices for veg.

Non veg - forget it.

For 799+taxes, there is nothing to compare with other restaurants around.

Unnecessary luxury.

Went today for a dinner buffet. Ambience was nice as it is a hotel. Foods are also good. I tried beet root tikka 1st tym. It was awesome. Some new veg n chicken starters, some main stream were der also. Dessert were also nice. I liked the sweet they served a lot. I would conclude with a must visit place to this hotel.

First things first...
Staff is extremely cordial ,once u get that kind of a start the rest is going to be in a flow
Liked the food and ambience
Being from a city like bangalore,we spend loads on food and beverages but the standard these guys have, bangalore has a long way to go

Must visit

Been during late afternoon for lunch with my wife and daughter. We were greeted well and shown our table. But no one bothered to tell us that, its buffet only time and we need to server yourself. Taste of food is below avg, it lacked flavours & taste.
I want to bring to management notice , that staff were not happy seeing guests walking in late and were talking in front of us to tell them only buffet is avilible. Which was biggg turn off.
Very nice place . pls up your service and food

We checked in for a dinner. This place looks quite elegant. We were directed to our table with a genial welcome. There was buffet available, so we decided to have a look on the items and then decided to settle in for the same. They had a wide variety of salads. Out of those chicken salami salad was remarkable. Manchurians ,noodles , veg dishes ,chicken gravy, mutton biriyani were all up for grab. non veg items were quite up to the mark. In the desserts they had variety of Indian sweets, cheese cake, jelly, ice cream.

Litchi jelly was quite good. However, chocolate sauce should help pallid vanilla ice cream and they should keep it as an option.

Had a decent experience overall. Coming to the bill. Well its ok for 700/-+ per head but there are much better options available in the city for that price.

Will get back for breakfast buffet someday.
Kushal Sanghvi
It's a place that I would recommend only to stick to North Indian starters and then still if you have some more place in your stomach then biryani and dal is what I would recommend in for eating
Purvi

I was here for breakfast ! The spread was mix of both Indian and American breakfast. They have even had live counters. Ambeincence of this restaurant is really good tht feel good factor is there as soon as u enter this restaurant!! South Indian breakfast was average. Sambar and chatney did not have tht flavour or kick wht u really want from tht ... I felt it had more of western touch but they had really good collections of breads. Overall my experience was good !!
Thrilling Treats
They have a good buffet breakfast spread which gets repeated every alternate day. The poori and chana is good. Eggless cakes are good, so was their shavage bhath. They have a weird set of juices like cucumber and cold coffee, etc. We ordered aloo paratha to the room on a couple of days. On day 1 it was excellent (soft and crispy at the ends, a perfect one as requested); on day 2 it was atrocious (too much onions, burnt below, just could not enjoy it). The service is decent, but 'smile-less'. :)
Roshni Arun
The buffet breakfast is really good. It has a mix of both continental as well as Indian food. It was a lovely experience dining at Orchid. The juices were very refreshing and had a wide range covering Tomato, Cucumber to cold Coffees and Mix Fruit smoothies. Salads , sprouts and Soaked almonds were also a part of the spread. Continental spread included oatmeal, sausages, Choice of egg ,Hashbrowns and others. Whereas the Indian Spread had Idlis, Masala idlis, Kharabath and Pesarittu and others. The poori and channa was very good. Choice of dosas and parathas were also offered. Not to forget the delicious cupcakes and doughnuts. The food was very good and made a great start to my day! :)

Great ambience. Good hospitality. Awesome food (taste & variety/ options).
Desserts were OK types. Has a good room for improvement.
The Place for Fine Dining experience @ Mysore.

One of the finest restaurants for a Fine Dinning experience! Visited for dinner and the food layout was such a delight to eyes!!
Wide variety of salads & desserts was very delectable. Service was very prompt & attendants were good at service.

MUST VISIT for a fulfilling (tummy wise) experience!
Raju Vusirikala
Good ambience and decent service. We went for Buffett lunch right after our mysore zoo visit. Good spread of salads, soups, veg and non-veg curries and deserts. Pasta was giving stale smell and we complained to the chef. He changed it but it was same issue again. Guess, one of the ingredients might have been spoiled..
Overall, it is okay to visit..

Elegant. One word for this place surrounded by palaces! And to top it off good food and friendly staff.
A lot of expats and businessmen around.

The first thing which entices you on entering this place is the elegant ambience which welcomes with luxurious grandeur.
Seating also looked pretty comfortable without much concerns as we got table assigned immediately. The menu booklet was looking heavy with so many categories of the food & desserts. Finally we could quickly jot down our choice and the service guy promptly noted down the order. Until this point everything went on smooth. Now after the order was picked, they completely forgot about us and they never acknowledged us back about the status of the order. After a considerable number of reminders for nearly 30 minutes or so, the food came up to the table. The entire waiting tenure they took to serve the food was nearly 45 min, within which my entire family had to suffer with vacuum of the hunger created around this waiting time. There is one more worst add-on to this - when the food was bought to our table after a delay of 45 min, there was n't any courtesy sake apologies and further adding to the woes, none of the service personnel attended to our table for serving the food. Since we lost our patience on the initial delay, so we thought we will serve ourselves instead of waiting for them.
The naan which was served, looked to be representing from a reputed frozen food brand, Dhaal didn't look fresh, Jeera rice was looking dry, Paneer tadka didn't taste good.
Overall it was dissatisfied and a horrible experience in terms of the service we were rendered with.
Food - 2/5
Ambience - 4/5
Service - 1/5
Cost - 3/5

Slow, tasteless, bland,.... Searching for more words to describe my experience.
Well, I don't think I would go back there or refer anyone else
