Review Indian Coffee House - Nagpur

Old school vibes place. Masala dosa tastes amazing. Recently tried their Bread Omelette and French Toast.. Both on point.

I recently visited a charming coffee shop that offered an exquisite omelet, and I was thoroughly impressed. The cozy ambiance and the aroma of freshly brewed coffee welcomed me as I entered. I ordered their signature omelet, and it exceeded my expectations. The omelet was perfectly fluffy and filled with a delectable mix of ingredients. The combination of cheese, fresh vegetables, and a hint of herbs created a delightful flavor. The coffee was equally impressive, with a rich and smooth taste that complemented the omelet beautifully. The service was prompt and friendly, making the overall experience delightful. This coffee shop is a hidden gem for those seeking a delicious breakfast and a warm atmosphere. I'll definitely be returning soon!

Very Good Food. Nice coffee. Ambiance gives a vintage coffee house feel. Service is little slow but it doesn't matter as you are anyways visiting such place to chill. We had French toast, cutlet, dosa and black coffee. Highly Recommended.

Authentic slice of life, some old legacy of presentation, warm and comfortable atmosphere, very casual, good food. I always order the french toasts, proportionately fried, salty-sweet. Nice breakfast options. The waiters follow a typical Indian dress code. The best thing I like about this place is that it's very casual.People often visit with their tracksuits on, and grab a quick bite here, after their workout in the morning.

The taste is just amazing šŸ˜‹. The place gives you an old school vibeāœØ. Masala dosa is highly recommended and the coffee ā˜• is great. Also the price is very less so it's very pocket friendlyšŸ’ø. Overall nice experience and must visit place.

Those who are born before 80ā€™s can very well accept this place. Off course new generation can visit this but if u really want to enjoy old school feel then this is the place. Always had French toast, bread omelette and coffee. Even Kerala paratha n egg curry .. yummy ..

ICH is one of the best breakfast spots I've visited in the last ten years. I've visited many cities, including Delhi, Chandigarh, Shimla, and Nagpur. I enjoy the taste of the food; it is obvious that the price has been raised from the previous one, but it is acceptable given the current circumstances. Scrambled eggs, toast, and cold coffee are my all-time favourites.
Saarthak Panda
This is a restaurant that serves authentic South Indian cuisine, as well as other dishes like French toast, scrambled eggs, and vegetable cutlet. It is part of the Indian Coffee House chain, which is operated by a series of worker cooperatives and has a strong presence across India with around 500 coffee houses1. The restaurant is located near Smriti Theatre on Mount Road, Sadar, and is open from 7:30 AM to 9:00 PM every day. It has a pleasant atmosphere and a cool vibe, with old and young groups spending time over a cup of coffee. The staff is friendly and the service is fast. The prices are reasonable and the portions are generous. The restaurant is popular for its breakfast menu, which includes paper masala dosa, idli, vada, upma, and appam. The paper masala dosa is especially recommended, as it is crispy and thin, with a spicy potato filling and coconut chutney. The idli and vada are soft and fluffy, and the upma is savory and satisfying. The appam is a rice pancake with a soft center and a crispy edge, served with vegetable stew or egg curry. The French toast and scrambled eggs are also a must-try, as they are fluffy and delicious, served with butter and jam. The vegetable cutlet is another signature dish, which is a deep-fried patty of mashed potatoes, peas, carrots, and spices, served with tomato sauce and green chutney. The cutlet is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, with a balanced flavor and texture. The restaurant also serves hot and cold beverages, such as coffee, tea, cold coffee, and coffee with cream. The coffee is aromatic and strong, and the cold coffee is refreshing and creamy. The tea is also flavorful and soothing, and the coffee with cream is rich and smooth. Indian Coffee House Co-operative Society of Nagpur is a place where you can enjoy a tasty and filling meal, as well as a relaxing and nostalgic time. It is a place where you can experience the history and culture of Nagpur, as well as the legacy and tradition of the Indian Coffee House. It is a place where you can meet your friends and family, or make new ones. It is a place where you can feel old school or 90s Indian vibes.

This place is an experience in itself! Running since 1986, this branch is located near Veeraswami restaurant, Sadar. It has an outlet near Medical College as well. You will get old-school vibes sooner that you enter, no fancy decor yet soo soothing!! The menu is basic yet elaborate, mainly covering breakfast items like Egg varieties, South Indian, various types of coffee etc. I tried French toast and coffee (which was mandatory, given the name of the place! :P). French toast was soo soft and fresh, perfectly cooked and coffee was truly the best! They also have dry coffee packets if you wish to take along. Also, the next dish to try if you happen to visit during lunch hours is their Egg Curry and Kerela Paratha. Absolutely loved the place! Must must visit!

The place hasnā€™t aged since independence. Beauty and full glory is a testimony to the charm this place has to offer. But not just the heritage is what that captivates its patron, the affordable food and constant scrumptious taste brings people of every age.
Abhay Mishra
It's a great place to chill and have breakfast, lunch or anything at all. The prices are justified, service is fast, food is great, vibes are cozy.
Murtaza Ali
Classic Chill place & French Toast, Dahi Samosa, Uttapam are some of the best things to try. It's a Classic Heritage place to go to............!!!
Mandar Palsule
This is an old style Indian cafe with high ceiling, wooden tables, minimalist, run by the co-op of coffee house employees. The food is good and portion size is good for one. The filter coffee was also excellent! Very good value for money.. Recommend!!
Raymond Anthony
One of the Old Nostalgic Places in Nagpur. You will find old Butlers here at this place. Best filter coffee and many more traditional delicacies.

Rustic, nostalgic feeling. Always a pleasure to dine here, seeing all the folks on their tables. Rare is the old school coffee house culture amidst the pool of cafes and bistros!

Amen! Felt absolutely grieved when they pulled the shutter down of the Indian Coffee House outlet at Coffee house square Dharampeth! Glad that the name of the square is still coffee house square! Legacy! This place is blissful. The moment when you step inn to the moment you burp and step out! Pretty unique and calm ambience. Waiters are no less than maharajas dressed in tide white attire! The ancient sitting arrangement with no upgrades still fascinates me. The menu board, the menu card... goodish! Food... Well! Scrambled eggs,French toast, egg sandwich and veg cutlet. All is love. Food quality is upto the mark and service is amazing! Do not forget to order a hot coffee. This coffee in steel cup tasted the same as I had before 14 years! This is real archetype of consistency. Prices are decent. The crowd visiting this place are normally post retirement filthy rich crowd often ending up their laughter's and serious discussions about their too grown up children... ohh no no they end up by playing bridge, burping and living the day to the fullest! That's how this place is! The more you visit the more you discover and start liking the fact that veg Cutlet taste even better having beetroot as it ingredient! Jump here in the morning. Indian Coffee House will waive you with the definite unspoken Guten Tag!

A place that is yet to forget the old authentic nagpur, a place with still a touch of the 90s and early 2000s. A place that is raw beauty and brings back childhood memories of every millennial. The entire menu is very inexpensive and the food is just yummy. The simple basic hot coffee is better than most coffee served in any ā€œhi-fiā€ and ā€œfamousā€ cafes of the city and is only ā‚¹25. Donā€™t forget to indulge into to the simple bread and butter toast to bring back some first memories of olden days and school tiffins!
Chetan Rathi
One of the oldest place for breakfast in Nagpur! The Indian coffee house has its own vibe, it's dusty decor, a mediaeval waiters costume and some hot filter coffee and bread omelette! <br/><br/>You can sit for hours ordering coffee, and they have all day breakfast options. They are also famous for their Kerela parotta! <br/><br/>The ambience is still the same the way it was decades back! But such places just don't need fancy ambience to attract the customers! It's a legacy!šŸ’Æ

This is one of those Retro looking cafe, and it is actually quite old cafe. They serve one of the best sweet french toast! It is a must try dish if you are in the neighborhood. This place gives you a very satisfying experience with the taste they provide and the place is an antique cafe.<br/>
Nihal Mohadikar
This is the oldest cafe in town which still is doing very well.<br/>Went here for a cuo of coffee and breakfast.<br/>Tried French toast and sambar vada. The taste was good.<br/>The cutlery and cups they give are just old fashioned which gives you the feel of 90s.<br/>The ambience and staff here is okayish.<br/>The place is a bit expensive.
Apoorva Gorle
The oldest cafe in Nagpur, drop in for a classic hot coffee and french toast for breakfast. Youā€™ll find oldies hanging out here as a their routine.. if youā€™re in nagpur, visit for a quite chat with your group!
Ojas Saraf
Amazing place. French toast is a must try. Vintage look and service is good. And rates are good too. Coffee is probably the best you can get at low cost.
Shivani Moglewar
A simple yet classy place and also pocket friendly. Annas there are so polite and welcoming.<br/>Vegetable cutlet, ice tea and chocolate milkshake are few of my favourite picks here!
Rounak Anand
Ohh this is such a colonial-time, simplistic place for a decent peaceful cup of coffee. Ofcourse the name, Indian Coffee House is huge; still I believe, they could add a few elements to the interiors, the way they serve snacks etc.
Joshit Sangode
Best Pocket friendly place to have your breakfast in Nagpur<br/>Though south Indian dishes are good the best is the scrambled eggs and French toast
Viraj Bagade
I just love the charm and simplicity of this place. As soon as you go inside you start feeling like a Retro world. Scrambled eggs and french toast is my favourite here.

Shantanu Thada
Officially the best place for cold filter coffee. I am going to be visiting this place every time I am in town. Never had better cold coffee ever. <br/><br/>Their South Indian is authentic and delicious. <br/><br/>Fast service. But, the ambience can be improved a little, it looks old and dilapidated.

Food is culture, an experience. So, I express and not rate it.<br/><br/>Indian Coffee House or ICH stands firm on its rates and taste as an iconic place for Nagpurians to brunch, munch and spend time with friends. It is that aura which tells you this place is not just a restauraunt, but an icon of Nagpuri culture. <br/><br/>The Idli - Jumbo Idli ;) with piping hot Sambar being poured in your plate.<br/><br/>The Egg Curry - coconut based curry, spicy and yummy! 50 Rs, Seriously?<br/><br/>Kerala Paratha - where else in Nagpur we get this delicacy? They are fresh and healthy - compared to horrible frozen ones we get in stores.<br/><br/>French toast - No where else in Nagpur city we get French Toast which are for real - French toast. <br/><br/>Coffee and Iced Tea - the new coffee shops in city should come try the same.<br/><br/>A must visit for the culture the place has to share. It is cheap so worth one try for sure.<br/><br/>Follow me for my food experiences... tandoori_delight on Instagram!

Indian coffe house is one of the oldest and best restaurants, their food is simple yet delicious. Kerala porratta and french toast are amongst their specialties, their french toast is my favourite. Service is very quick, too good with very pocket freindly prices. Ambience is decent.
Anukool Sahni
Best place to have good breakfast at a very reasonable rate and of good taste. The south indian food is very good and bread omlette was excellent. Filter coffee is also good.

Ambience wise this place is not great...But still it is a must visit...looks ugly but the scrambled eggs and toast are yumm..!!Kerala parotta is also awesome..only place in Nagpur to serve these..and every mallu's favourite...:)<br/>Warning: Kerala parotta gets over by 12...so do go early

First of all, it is not a usual ICH... This is almost a pure vegetarian hotel with some egg items only ... If you think of the ICHs in kerala which serve non vegetarian dishes even including beef items, that is a big downer ... You won't get any meals or even vegetable biriyani ... Even the items present here doesn't seem to be satisfying... Like the chutney and sambhar you get here along with the dosa items are pathetic ... The only thing I enjoyed was coffee
Mailus
Indian coffee house .... Unassuming. Old world charm. Affordable food and drinks.<br/>South Indian snacks, tea and coffee are the staple..<br/> If you are looking for a gourmet or fine dining experience, this is obviously not the place.

Recently been there on my recent visit to Nagpur with old pals for coffee, had the cutlets,Used to frequent this place and dharampeth branch as kid with father and brother on Saturday late afternoons for cutlets and plain-dosa sambar, they are managing it well,Hope we Nagpurian's continue to patronise the place(It is the one left for town).

Taste: What a place! This place is Indian history.. The coffee kings of India.. They have carried a tradition of Indian breakfast on their shoulders.. I had a recent date with ICH and went back home with full happy stomach.. The thick sambar, subtle chutney and big Wadas.. beetroot and potato cutlets.. Masala dosa.. 250-300 ml of cold coffee, and bitter hot Nilgiri coffee ā˜•ļø .. It was a delightful date and I cannot stop smiling even now..<br/>Service: The servers look so dashing in their typical dresses.. And they are so caring that u feel welcomed.. (you'll always end up eating more than your tummy needs)<br/>Ambience: Old school chairs and table..<br/>Value for money: The rates are so cheap when compared to the amazing quantity they serve..10/10šŸ˜

Good place for snacks specially. Sambar samosa is a must try out option once you get here. Coffee is amazing too. Would not be best option for dining but reliably good for snacks.

One of the oldest cafe in Nagpur City . <br/><br/>As told to me by the owner almost 60 years ow.<br/><br/>if you ca compromise a little bit on their ambiance<br/><br/>their ambiance than this is probably one of the best place for breakfast or evening snacks. Excellent taste, Economic rates, all dishes freshly ad nicely made. <br/><br/>Ate French Toast(recommended by most of my friends), Cutlet and had coffee.<br/><br/>All value for money.<br/><br/>Only thing that i feel way-off was that the waiters are aloof.<br/><br/>Location wise one of the perfect place in the city.<br/><br/>Service:- 3.5<br/><br/>Taste:- 4.5/5<br/>Ambience:- 3.5/5<br/><br/>Pricing:-5/5

Typical old school coffee house. I have been to their Kolkata as well as the Bengaluru branches. This is is not as cool as those places. The service is slow at an typical old style way. The severs are in uniform. The coffee is awesome! You can order a cup and sit for hours in case you want to.
Foody
For best selected south indian dishes, this is the best place u should visit. Things u should try are : filtered coffee, laccha parantha, dosa, omlette, sandwiches.. everything is up to the mark..
Anuj Bhatnagar
Not the same anymore and it's sad. Not that it was ever phenomenal however, the south Indian food which was always the USP here, isn't that good anymore. They do have a good omelette though which is funny to me šŸ˜‰
Hemant Bhusari
One of the best, simple and oldest cafe in Nagpur. Everyone knows about it.(especially old peoples. We called this cafe as a old age home) a lot old peoples you will see here. Because the place is great. The masala dosa n butter masala dosa, bread butter & sambar wada is too delicious.. You can't eat all at a tym(its delicious as well as heavy) get the parcel of sambar vada( full with dosa's but want to eat vada) superb place. N delicious taste
Amey Bawiskar
One of best place for breakfast with <br/>Limited menu but its awesome. Good place for hangout with your bestties with cup of coffee and egg sandwich .šŸ˜ššŸ˜—<br/><br/>

The cafe that existed before cafƩs became cool, coffee house is a favorite for at least three generations in all long time Nagpur residents. My boss swears by this place and its my go-to for someone who wants to see what the city is all about.<br/>The scrambled eggs are light and fluffy, the French toast is sweet and gooey. The Kerala parotha with anda curry is an instant hit. And the filter coffee is what caffeine kicks are all about! <br/>The staff is courteous, the service quick. The ambience is very basic, but the food is hygienic. The best part- very easy on the pockets. <br/>And did I mention the coffee? It really is that good :)
Piyush Agrawal
Best place to have scrambled eggs and french toast. The lemon tea is also great and rates are quite cheap.<br/>The ambience is not good but the food is tasty. Kerela paratha and egg curry is one of my favourite items from this place.
Divyachand94
Very friendly staff, quick service, yummy and economic food in good quantity, and a relaxed homely atmosphere that most places lack. South Indian food is the best, naturally alongside some filter coffee. L
Harsh Mahatme
The best you get is the filter coffee and dosa here! Its the best place to be to to have coffees and dosas. The best in any case! The most amazing!
Radhika Khanzode
It's one of the most oldest cafes in Nagpur. The ambience is not at all fancy its quite simple and sober including plastic tables and chairs. The service is really good and a treat to the eye is they use old cutlery which is not seen nowadays. South indian food and the french toast are truly delicious! Here they serve dosa's and uttams's in steel plates, it feels just like home. If you are loose on pockets then it's the best place to visit, you can get a perfect breakfast! No cappuccino, no frappe, no latte, but a sip of filter coffee is better sometimes!

Old world charm!!!!!!! That is what it brings<br/>Oh! Where have all the Indian Coffee Houses disappeared to?<br/>Why have CCD & the rest come in and disrupted our lives?<br/>Okay, let them be, those who prefer & can regularly afford CCD can do so but at least let the I C H come back.<br/>This one has survived, most fortunately.<br/>Since my schooldays, I have visited the Sadar & Dharampeth restaurants & so that nostalgia takes over every time I go there. Clean, well maintained & so efficiently run with promptly served orders & value for money.<br/>Vegetable cutlet, masala dosa, toast, omelette & fliter coffee ( none of the European flavours can match our very own traditional filter coffee, as far as I am concerned)........simple yet precious!<br/>3 cheers for Indian Coffee House!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!<br/>May your tribe increase manifold, my old friend.
Raulroy0489
Legend has it that this place used to be the most important political or non political discussion centre in Nagpur. Sadly they did not keep with that !!!! food is ok / ambiance is ok
Purva Shekdar
This place manages to evoke nostalgia when ever I visit... Came here after a long time to have their very famous french toast.... <br/><br/>The ambiance is very old and simple... I m very sure no change has been made to it since its very first day :P You will also find their cutlery very old...Ā  Staff here is not very friendly but very quick in service...<br/><br/>South Indian food is not so good here but rest of it is just fantastic...<br/>My personal favorite French Toast and Special Filter Coffee. They make these two things just perfect !! Do try the cutlet here they just like homemade ones...<br/><br/>Overall this is a place for uncountable visits !!!
Linky Parasnani
I m highly disappointed bcz I thought I is old restro I may be good but <br/>Service is poor <br/>Very Unhygienic <br/>Very poor taste <br/>I ordered tomato sandwich I got dried bread with rotten tomato <br/>
Ajeesh
This a nice place an old time feel of typical udipi hotels. The coffee of course is good. ..may not the CCD types; great nevertheless. The service is prompt and without any frills. The dosas are good. Next time I'll try out the kerala parota. ...
Bunny
A place which doesnt need any introduction.<br/><br/>Smell of coffee. <br/>Crisp of dosa. <br/>Oxygen of old days.<br/><br/>Such a beautiful place in the middle of the city.<br/>Sadar always makes happy. <br/>And yeah, rude waiters. Nevermind.
Shruti Naik
One of the oldest coffee house, Indian Coffee house stands proudly in the midst of the city. No ambience , no decor, still it manages to attract decent crowd. It serves best french toast , filter coffee and kerela parotta with egg masala (kerela style). They also serve south indian snacks and other egg preparations. Service is dull as usual. I still love to visit this place for its superb filter coffee and french toast (must try).
Arundhati Mahato
Love this place šŸ˜ their French toast and mallu porota with egg curry for lunch is to die for. Idli vada sambhar everything good. Prices reasonable food super tasty and service is good :) everyone should give this place a visit.
Neha Rahate
One of the oldest cafes of nagpur. <br/>This is my 3rd topmost fav place for breakfast ( 1st-breakfast story, 2nd - gokul ) <br/>Gives the same old feeling everytime i visit. <br/>Crowd basically consists of the working class & the joggers. <br/>I usually visit here for a quick breakfast even though the place is quite shabby and unclean. <br/>Its nagpurs vohuman cafe ( pune ) and irani cafe ( mumbai )<br/><br/>Must try dishes- veg cutlet ( filled with beetroot extract ) & french toast ( sweet ) <br/>Coffee makes everything better<br/><br/>What not to try - south indian food ( its better at verraswami just adjacent , never try the cold coffee here.<br/><br/>The kitchen badly needs a good exhaust system as every time the chef prepares something , the spices and the smell fills the whole room.<br/>
Joshua Newman
The irani cafe of Nagpur.I visited the outlet just next to Tuli international hotel. A 58 year old cafe, established in the year 1957.The place has continuous foot fall, the waiters are dressed Ā like butlers in the pre-independence era.<br/><br/>The snacks are cheap and serving as well service is good.We ordered fro two cold coffee, veg cutlets and scrambled eggs with toast and our TAB was Rs 200/- A legendary cafe which is a must to visit, when in Nagpur.
Rebecca
Ummm.. Maybe it's not what it used to be originally.. I had high hopes from it.. The cold coffee itself looked like tea poured in a glass.. Let alone rest of the things.. South Indian was palatable tough..
Chaitanya Deshmukh
Just one word to describe-disappointed. That is just enough to describe everything about this place. The place, the ambience, the service and the quality of food, everything is just dull boring and absolutely nothing new discover. Besides was not at all happy with the hospitality. Mostly south indian dishes to offer in the menu.<br/>Only saving grace is the low priced food but trust me you wont mind spending extra bucks and have supreme quality hygienic south indian food just next door in veeraswamy.<br/>Cheers guys.āœŒ
Sayjo87
The best place for a cup of original filter coffees... The place is right in the middle of the market so it's a good place fr a shopping break in dharampeth... Little crowded... Ambience can be improved a bit

Rating the Indian Coffee House a 4.5 was an obvious decision. The oldest and the best coffee house in the city. No extra stress on the ambience and interiors, just going by the book and maintaining the 3 decades old culture. The perfect place for Sunday breakfast. Very reasonable and the best coffee

Indian coffee house: A great place to have a awesome breakfast, brunch and also suitable for evening snacks .I ordered a french toast, egg sandwich and cold cream coffee.<br/><br/>1)French toast: A healthy and a delicious dish in which a bread is dipped in a mix of milk and egg and shallow fried with butter on both the side.Simple but yet super-yummy- super tasty .<br/><br/>2)Egg sandwich: Again a simple dish but yet tasty . Boiled egg sandwich with a black pepper and butter .Soft-moist-yum goes well with coffee.<br/><br/>3)cold cream coffee:Nice and genuine coffee <br/><br/>Ambience was not impressive.Service was good.Good value for money.

India cofee house is a decent place in Nagpur to have a good south Indian breakfast..<br/>Items to try there:<br/>1. French tost - All time best, must try.!!<br/>2. Cutlet - good<br/>3. All south Indian tiffin items. - meets expectation.<br/>Note: Avoid eating north Indian items over there, Eg: They give samosa with coconut chutney.<br/><br/>Pros : Good taste and reasonable rates.<br/>Cons:Ā AmbienceĀ is lacking. (Common.. that is not necessary, taste is more important..! )
Goraksh Brahmankar
nice for quick bite<br/>as zomato suggests its cheap enough<br/>its south indian based cafe very very old by age but still alive and noisy as south indian cafes are<br/>cold cofee recommend<br/>if u are hungry with loose pockets<br/>u are welcome here

If its breakfast in Nagpur, then its at the Indian coffee house. This is not a fancy place, minimal chairs and tables but that compensates for some awesome food. Scrambled eggs on toast, filter coffee, tea, medu wada, idly, dosa, omelettes - its all there. Eat all you want and its easy on the pocket too. <br/>If you are a non-Nagpurkari, do try it!!
Rushabh Meshram
I'll always be partial to support ICH all over India... Many of my parties were catered by ICH and a few were celebrated in the restaurant too. And considering that most public sector companies are catered by them, I've practically grown up on dosas and idlis.<br/>Please, only try south indian or breakfast/snacks kind. Rest of the menu is too risky to try.
Prasad Narkhede
Coffee house is been fav for all.<br/>Its filter coffee refreshes you.<br/>Samosa's are also good.<br/>Bread butter jam, scrambled eggs, bread omelette , butter toast are worth trying <br/>Egg curry and paraths works as quick meals.
Arpit Bhugul
This is a place close to my heart. A place for morning meetings of working class Nagpurians. A place to be refreshed after that football or cricket match. A place for those senior citizens of Nagpur to discuss their club activities. It had waiters working from years. This coffee house had a culture, newer coffee houses like Batista or CCDs can only desire of. The menu was nothing much fancy. My morning breakfast would be coffee and the French toast, which was made with the exact amount of sugar and crispiness that I require. On evenings it would be Vada Sambhar or idlis. Its not about just the food. Its about the memories that restaurants give you. Indian Coffee house did exactly this. I don't know is it still running or not . I heard about some rumors that it has been shut down. This place will always be missed.
