Nice family restaurant ! Service also good!

Authentic Malvani Cuisine. Reasonable prices. Decent Ambience. Delivery is also fairly quick. You will get discount on bill if you call directly on restaurant number instead of calling through food delivery apps. Recommended.

We chose desi curry for a family dinner amongst other malwani options in Kharghar based on Zomato ratings, although compared to the other options, this seemed a far smaller place and less crowded given 9pm Saturday night scenes. But when the food started coming in and eventually the tables started filling up, we were sure of our choice. We started with the refreshing Sol kadhi and masala chaas drinks. Must say, the masala chaas is easily one of the best I have had anywhere..perfect mixture of the right amnt if masalas, dhanyas and short mirchis to give it that spicy masala taste. The Sol kadi was also very refreshing to taste. It went well with the kothimbir wadi v had as starters. The wadis were crisp n soft. Just perfectly made. Then came the tandoori prawns...which were just so deliciously smothered with amazing malwani masala and tandoored to perfection. Qnty was sorted for three people. The veg folks had the malwani veg thaali...which had its assorted veg gravies, daal and tandoori bhakri. The daal fry was so good, we ordered a plate of it extra. For the sea food main course, unfortunately, they werent stocked with the pomfret which we originally wanted, so we ordered the special surmai desi curry with steam rice. Presentation was nice, the curry was spiced very aptly to go with the rice. Spcl mention of their accompanying salad, that was also repeat ordered by us, loved the pickeled onions n cabbages. To summarize, a very satisfying seafood family dinner (bill wasn't exorbitant either) .. Completely in sync with zomato' ratings..worth a repeat visit surely.

This is one of my favourite eating outlets in Kharghar. Although it is not a big fancy restaurant but the taste of food is really good. There are limited items in menu but what ever I had tasted is wonderful. Visit once, you will be fan. Order Paneer Tikka, its delicious.

It's not easy to write about your own enterprise bcz people would call it a partial & biased opinion. But at least I can express my views about what all those who have visited us once or repeatedly. One sentence describes it all," The food is awesome & the ambiance is lovely ". Yes, I agree that the service is slow, but we're making everything fresh. We don't have pre-prepared gravies. But than I assure all that in a months time service will be speedier. We also request our customers to order an hour from the menu posted on Zomato on the phone.

Been here for lunch as we wanted to have malvani food. Firstly there was no water served. Later when we had ordered for prawns koliwada it was so horrible it was like dey had just fried it in Mirchi powder and water later v decided to go for the meal as we vr not satisfied with the starters. In the main course we ordered malwani fish curry and prawns curry we waited for nearly 1 hr then the food was served the fish curry started stinking and was smelling like stale food the fish was not fresh it was like it was stored in the fridge for a week. The bhakri was a joke it was like papad. Never had been to such a horrible n pathetic restaurant in my life. No hospitality no gesture no good food I feel even the 1 star rating is too much for the food we paid which was 1800 for nothing... Please go at ur own risk

Wen we entered the restaurants no water was also served...very pathetic restaurant I have ever been so far ...we ordered 1)prawns Koliwada it was smelling like the prawns were kept frozen in the fridge for a week and served later <br/>2) pomfret curry was the one which we expected to be really good as a seafood restaurant but it was pathetic and we told the manager about this he was like it’s fresh but the curry was smelling too bad <br/>3) prawns curry was pathetic tasteless it was like only mirchi powder and prawns in it <br/>4)tandoori bhakri we ordered the bhakris was not baked properly it was half baked and not able to tear the bhakri also it was pathetic <br/>My recommendation is only 1 star for this restaurant pathetic restaurant <br/>The server was not serving also properly no water was also served wen we asked for water then only he served <br/>Such a pathetic restaurant I have eaten till date<br/>Very disappointed

This is a place where you get the most delicious Malvani cuisine in town. The sol kadi they serve here is really authentic. The crab thali over here is the best😍

We ordered chicken sauji, bhakri, kulchas, nans and chicken ghee roast dry. The gravy was pretty average, the rotis were soft and the starter was also delicious. But did not like the gravy at all thought they claimed that it was their bestseller.

your menu is expensive but as per quantity poor.ln mutton dish only 2 small pieces of mutton& 2 pieces of only bones...

I ordered the Veg thali and Kothimbir wadi....thali was sufficient and packing was really good.fullfill meal....Kothimbir wadi is average...chapati was not good...so dont go for chapati option..

This a must try place for Maharashtrian food!!!<br/><br/>Our craving for an authentic meal brought us to Desi Curry. We tried their Mutton Thali & Surmai Thali. It was one of the best Thalis we have enjoyed in a long time.<br/><br/>Wonderfully cooked meat and excellent rassas made the mutton Thali, whilst fish cooked to perfection and a yummy gravy complimented the Surmai Thali. Their Solkadi is worth a mention too.. In all this was an absolute value for money deal!

The Kadhi was amazing. I always love their Kaddhi. but the other item was too oily and not tasty. Chapatis were soft and nice.

Good food! We always order kolhapuri chicken tikka curry or any other chicken curry from here after we ate food here on a birthday few years back. Have tried chicken curries, chicken starters, surmai, pomfret and bombil fry.

Hey Fellas! <br/>I know it's been a longggggg time since I reviewed. Apologies. I'm back. You know that hunger pain you get when you know your food's arriving anytime. But, as excitingly I opened the lids of these dishes, I threw them in anger in the same speed. I don't understand, why do you put litres of oil in food? Is it something necessary? Do you have tonnes of money that you throw in the oil? I was dying of hunger and thanks to you guys, it was delayed cz I was super busy pouring the oil out in the sink. Is this how you build clientele?<br/> <br/>Disappointed. Highly disappointed. I just wanted to taste Maharashtra food for a change. This is not what I expected. <br/>I ordered Kadhi and Patodi. If you don't know it fellas, then I'll explain. Patodi is made from besan(Gram flour) and is cut into chunks. This was so dark and so oily. Yuck. I don't think I'll ever order from these guys. Restaurant was clean and neat. Service was quick. I had chicken thali, which was really good and tasty and roti was very soft. Temperature of the restaurant was pleasant.

They don't serve cold water to the customers even when it is demanded. I think this is done to force the customers to take packed mineral water bottle. It is really shameful that a good running hotel like Desi Curry cannot afford to give cold water to their customers free of cost. Actually government must make it mandatory for all the hotels to give pure and cold drinking water to all the customers who don't want the packed water.

Good place. Tried the maharashtrian non veg thali from here and it was great. Friendly staff and good ambience. The only negative is the location which is a bit difficult to notice. However, a much better place than many other restaurants in the vicinity, those who are at easily noticable location. Value for money and a good place to dine.

Both my wife and I love fish. And since we were new to Kharghar we decided to try fish thali at different restaurants and compare how good they were. Desi Curry won over our taste buds in the 4 restaurants we tried ! We have now eaten here thrice and each time was a lovely experience. Their chapatis are some of the softest we have ever tasted. The accompanying curry in the thali is full of flavor and thankfully isn't overloaded with spice like some of the others The only downside that I can think off is that their thalis are also the most expensive compared to any of the other restaurants we tried and the ambiance is a bit tacky. Other than the pricing, the food was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed all the times we have come here to eat.

We tried Tandoori crab and prawn Malvani curry which was good if had at the restaurant. We order the same at home but the food was cold by the time it reached home. It would be recommended to eat at the restaurant rather than order at home. Tandoori crab was juicy and tasted amazing. Prawn Malwani curry with bhakri had well balanced flavours. It is one of those places I would like to try more dishes...

Desi Curry stands out with their variety for dishes in non-veg.You can choose between both Malvani and Gavran flavour over here.<br/>Mutton/Chicken sauji is yummy to tht your tastebuds. We have tried bombil fry, surumai fry all of them where excellent. Fish curry will be a treat for you. Even the chapathi over here also is too soft. It goes well with all the above dishes.<br/>It deserves the name very well.

Thali is not worth to take for the price they charge..u will get salad and pickle etc..in the same price of thali..Service is also not uptodate.<br/><br/>

I order food through Zomato, Food was stale and I preferred to write a review on Zomato. Why should I call you? Did I call you to order my food? I was thinking to end this episode but you have given false information which need to be addressed. I never told to change the food because no one will wait for 3 hour after ordering food . I think you are confused between taste and quality, forget about taste it's about quality of food, which was terrible. After spending 561₹ I did wait for 2hours 25min and got terrible quality food. After my review you called me and told, I will send another food and requested me to take down my review but I denied. After my denial you told I will come to your home and taste the food, and you have to take down the review as quickly as possible. I accepted one part of your proposal but I denied to take down my review and told to refund my money too. <br/>When you arrived I was out of my home you tasted the food and you told my family members, food is of good quality and you threatened us and told we will take action against for putting false review if you don't take it down. After that I had telephonic conversation with you and I dare you to take action against me and I told you that I am going to complain agent your restaurant to food and drug department. This is a nice option for Vidarbha style gravies... They prepare Sauji gravy really well... Nice malvani options as well but not up to the mark if you are expecting authentic Malvani style gravy...Personally i felt a sort of dull-ish ambience so its better as a take away / home delivery...

The food was too spicy for childrens. I had to buy 6 bottles of water just so that we can finish our food. Not sure 1.5 i should be giving them. Even after complaining the staff were not ready admit their mistake of serving soo spicy food. <br/><br/>Will never visit this place again.

We had ordered Bombil fry and chicken lollypops,the bombil fry was too spicy that we literally had to remove the masala and eat....Lollypops were ok...will try some other seafood items next time...

Jowar, Bajra and rice roties are the speciality here. Was looking for this type of joint in Kharghar and around. I don't know how this restaurant has 3.7 rating .. wanted to try maharashtrian food so accordingly rating I went there..very pathetic quality food ...portion wr less and price was very high ..what I got pissed off was that for one piece of surmai fry they charged me Rs.380..masala coating was stale ..whole food seems to be stale ...my son got food poisoning.. never go to this restaurant.

Went here on a Thursday afternoon for lunch after a movie at inox, kharghar.<br/><br/>We ordered:<br/>Bombil tawa fry, sol kadi, malvani prawn curry, wade and tandoori bhakri<br/><br/>Everything was good, simple good food especially the prawn curry which tasted very fresh and not very heavy.<br/><br/>Wade- i have had better before and were a bit more oily than they should be.<br/><br/>The service was prompt and efficient.<br/><br/>All in all a satisfying experience.<br/> <br/><br/>

If you are looking for anything authentic in Maharashtrian cuisine in kharghar then this is your destination. Food was good not very good as I have had better Maharashtrian food, but decent enough for the price you are paying. Pune is still ahead in the matter of authenticity. I would recommend this place for atleast one try.

Disappointing experience.. That's all I can say about this place.. We went there with super expectations after reading all the good reviews on zomato.. But the Service was toooo slow.. Even though restaurant was not full No one was there to attend customers.. Food too was just ok in taste.. It took more than 35-40 minutes to get our order.. We ordered prawns koliwada and chicken tandoori in starters.. Prawns were just deep fried in oil.. Highly disappointing..

Tried their crispy bhindi (never had anything like this anywhere else, it was so great), struffed bombil, chicken sauji masala and mutton rara with wada, bhakri all washed down with solkadi... all items were exceptionally good and away from the usual fare we get in regular restaurants... this place does serve authentic food and does not shies away from being so... worth repeating again... next try: thalis.

This place is difficult to find. The sitting arrangment is bit difficult. The person serving sometimes forget the ordered item. I orered "Desi curry "veg. It was ok.<br/>Aluwadi was teasty. Masala papad was good.

I am a foodie person who always loves to explore new restaurants famous for different types of food.I usually prefer non veg but when i came here in desi curry i tried veg food and believe me its just awesome. I have visited here 3 times and will definitely visit again.

I have gone there thrice to celebrate my frnds' birthdays and I must say that the taste of the food is awesome. The staff is very helpful and very cooperative. Most of the times i eat non veg dishes in restaurants but for the first time I ordered veg here. The taste was really very good. I can surely come here again.

Searching on zomato for dinner options for a weekend dinner led me to this restaurant. Going by the earlier reviews I'd called ahead but the hotel manager said to come down. Contrary to many of the reviews posted here; the missus and I got the meal in record 15 minutes. Definitely the chicken ghee roast, the Chicken Sagoti and the Chicken sukka with tandalachi bhakri, were sublime. The solkadhi is also one the best I've ever tasted. The bill was also very well in moderation. Definitely a place to return to. Thanks to Mr Nitin and the staff for the gracious hospitality!

A newer family joint in kharghar, Maharastrian-Konkani seafood, cuisine speciality. I had the chance of visiting here with couple of my friends. The food was good, I felt it was little bit on the pricier side depending on the quantity which was less. Also the location was very difficult for us to find. Ambience was good, newly furniture and fittings adding to the décor.

This is the second time i had been to this restaurant. Initially my review was 5* but it has changed now. Their service is pathetic specially when you dine at the upper space of the restaurant nobody is available to service you properly. I had ordered for chicken and seafood soup but the soup which came was Luke warm. I ordered for chicken handi and had requested for less spicy since I had kids with me,to my surprise it was absolute spicy.The food quality was very bad. The food is overpriced and if you don't get the service and the food quality which are not good it adds fuel to fire.

This place used to serve good Maharashtrian fare and was supposedly the only good authentic place serving tasty fish fry...but our recent experience has proven that Desi Curry has lost its charm and us as their customers forever. I am sure that I will not be visiting this place again thanks to the less than satisfactory service last night. <br/><br/>On a lean day owing to Ganesh Chaturthi when only two tables including ours occupied the spacious restaurant, the team couldn't do justice to their customers. The order taker seemed disinterested as well as ignorant about the menu. We had ordered a Surmai rawa fry since they used to do this especially well. But sadly, what turned up on our table was a meagre piece of fish which definitely did not weight 200 gm (as pointed out by the Restaurant Manager); neither did it have any salt and was fried so pathetically it wasnt crisp at all. When we pointed out the lack of salt, the server offered to replace it and probably the Chef felt offended at having his masterpiece returned back hence choose to send an even smaller piece of fish fry back to us. Made us feel that an entire fish thali costing about 410/- would have given us the same size of fish alongwith the entire meal. This piece of joke at 360/- was just not worth it. <br/><br/>Since we had placed the entire order well in advance we were hoping, after the above fiasco, that the server would now, hopefully, up his game and offer decent service and be quick with the main course. Not only did they take another 15 minutes of us waiting for the main course but also forgot that we had ordered for some soft drinks on the side. When we pointed this out, the server looked at us as if to say, "well you should have told me when to get it....how am i to know when you would want it" <br/><br/>When we were leaving the Manager asked us if we enjoyed our meal. However, it seems he was asking only out of courtersy, for when we shared our disappointments, he started reasoning with us instead of offering a simple apology. We left utterly disheartened with a bad taste in our mouth and a half empty stomach.<br/><br/>This place might have been good once, but just like the chewy Chicken kolhapuri tikka curry served to us, the restaurant too has gone down the drain..as literally as possible.

Excited and already salivating going through Zomato photos ,menu, ratings; decided to try out this place,not to mention the expectations that had started building up.<br/>FOOD- Food was tasty but lacked the authentic malwani spiciness(punch) especially the rassa(thamda/pandhara) and so with wade the masala tasted bland but not disappointing. Wade were hot, crisp and light. Have been there twice and both the experiences were great..the chicken handi was simply too good when combined with bakris...loved the kothimbirwadis too. Second time it was surmai masala fry...it was perfectly done.. Looking forward to it again..!!

Have dined here once and have ordered once. The dine-in experience was.. Well.. Under average. There was just one service guy running around and juggling service between 4-5 active tables. So within a minute of walking in, we knew it was going to be a long evening. <br/><br/>Since the positioning of the restaurant is of the one that offers authentic Maharashtrian cuisine, we decided to order accordingly on both occasions. I've so far tried - Kothimbirwadi, Crispy Bhindi, Veg Sauji Masala, Matki Usal, Daal Tadka, Tandoori bhakri (they didn't have the regular one available). <br/><br/>Kothimbirwadi was the only one that I felt was authentic. I've been to Nagpur multiple times and I dig sauji food. So I am pretty confident when I say that the Veg Sauji Masala was nowhere near being authentic. I guess they did have to tone the amount of spice down to the locally acceptable level, but then that killed the authenticity. <br/><br/>Matki usal was good and so was the tandoori bhakri, but charging a bhakri 50 bucks is beyond me. Crispy Bhindi was not what I had expected. It was marinated in some flour and it was super oily. If it had any more oil, US would be bombing it. Daal Tadka's tadka lacked the punch. There just wasn't enough tadka for the quantity of daal. <br/><br/>I was so happy when I learned about this restaurant and the menu they have. I'm not that glad after trying it out. Navi Mumbai needs restaurants like these. I'm sure many residents in the area would love this menu if it were a little more authentic and affordable. <br/><br/>I'll hope that they do something about it. I do. <br/><br/>

i dont know whats the scene with this restaurant, tired to visit them a few times and the place was closed. spoke to a guy in yellow tshirt who was peeping from the outlet, he said we open in the evening. went again at around 7 and the place was still closed. Then i finally managed to order food at home and must say it was a joke, i was expecting malwani and what i got was more pani then food. Maybe they didnt realize it was raining, so packaging is very important. In short - disappointed.

I ordered butter rotis delivery last night and they sent plain butter rotis... Hope they check the ordered items before sending the delivery

Ordered a take away and boy was I pleased we decided to try this place. Will dine in next time to try out their other specialities. Had never tasted the Chicken Saoji before so not sure how close it is to the authentic dish but what we tried just blew us away, recommend this dish if you are up for something spicy this monsoon. Highly recommended.

Normally I am not the one to rate early or easily any joint. Desi curry's egg thali forces me to share the really authentic maharashtrian taste of this place. <br/><br/>Very tasty food with awesome Sol Kadhi and thecha made my home delivery order cherish-able. <br/><br/>Would recommend to try once if you like Malwani or maharashtrian taste . <br/><br/>Keep it up Desi Curry !

I have just tried tasting the food through home delivery and have not visited the place in person. I hence cannot comment on service quality, ambience etc. However, the food is really tasty and well prepared. The taste really sticks to the claim of Maharashtrian cuisine. Delivery has always been as promised and I have not found anything to complaint about. I am now curious to visit this place in person and taste their delicacies. A thumbs up to the restaurant and hopr they dont change their menu soon!!!

Very good restaurant,when it comes to having Authentic Marathi Gavaran gravy,both veg and non - veg items have good gravy and the food is very tasty ,everybody should try this restaurant.

Desi Curry is well known for its authentic maharashtrian food in Malwani style especially the non-vegetarian food. The other cuisines are also good enough if one isn't a fan of Malwani style. A haven for seafood lovers, so the vegetarians could actually give it a miss.<br/>Ambience : The seating arrangement and interiors are decent enough with moderate space and adequate lighting. <br/>Food and service : Being a vegetarian, coming here didn't serve much of a purpose but surely loved all the traditional dishes. The malvani seafood being their speciality their fish thalis are a major hit. Enjoyed the veg maharastrian dishes like sol kadhi, kothimbir wadi, bharli wangi, wade and bhakri. The wade of 'kombdi wade' were delicious! Hot and soft. <br/>The paneer dishes were also good and not mediocre as one would expect.<br/>The service was a tad bit slow but didn't bother anyway. <br/>Overall a must try for a non-vegetarian lover who likes malvani cuisine as they have authentic chicken and fish thalis.

We had ordered fish thali and chicken thali, both were too good in terms of taste and quality. Service is also good, staff is well mannered. But in fish thali they serve only one portion of fish, curry and soul kadhi along with rice and Chapati and where as in chicken and mutton thali there are three different types gravies along with rice and Chapatis. They should add something extra in fish thali also.

Nice restaurant, we were a large group looking for Desi grub, went looking for Maharashtrian cuisine and just loved all the mutton dishes some ordered other stuff which also was appreciated it seems a new place hope they keep up their excellent culinary variety.

Small place with hardly any space left after table and chairs, i had a veg sauji and rice bhakri, bhakri was ok but the veg sauji was basically a lot of oil wid a few pieces of beans and no salt and the location is also as bad as the food.

Visited Desi Curry with family and friends.Delicious food and energetic service.I appreciate quality and taste of authentic food  specially Tandoori Bhakri(bajra),Surmai fish and mouth-watering Chicken Malavani,Kolahapuri Chicken and superb "sol kadhi".Veg Kolhapuri,Paneer masala and masala rice was also excellent.Everything was prepared in "Home made masala of Desi curry".As we are from konkan we enjoy food just like home in beautiful ambience.Thanks to Desi curry management for our memorable evening.<br/> Desi curry is a Landmark of Kharghar.My Regards!

On the auspicious day of Guddi Padva , craving for Maharashtrian food,how and where can we get Authentic maharashtrian non veg food ? The search began and finally we had to settle for this restaurant just 15 kms drive from my place .....little cramped but cozy ....for the first time I had tandoori bhakri made up of rice and bajree ....well I think tawa bhakris are better...chicken sauji was not that spicy as it is suppose to be....tambad rasa & Pandra rasa 👍mutton sukha and pomfret tandoori are okay....well they serve veg and non veg thali's off course Maharashtrian ) ....in fact stewart was recommending us for thali's but we thought otherwise....overall I must say they serve good food....one time visit if you are craving for local cuisine and do not forget to try their masala chaas.

Desi curry is quite popular for its amazing malvani food. The management is very friendly and the food is simply amazing. Small place to sit but service and food taste as big USPs. I would definitely recommend to try desi curry, I love the food and hopefully you will love it too.

If you are a Maharashtraian food lover, this place is for you. The thali is their specialty for those who love sea food. We tried chicken item also. They were also good. Their jwar n bajri bhakhri is a must to eat. Flawless is a word for bhakhri to describe on single word. Though I asked the waiter to add some butter on it which made the bhakhri even more tastier. Do visit once.

Although My previous review had largely been negative, the response from management convinced me to make another order. This time tried with home delivery. I ordered some traditional food and I was really surprised to not have tried this before. I would suggest people to visit this place with ample time in hand and not to rush for receiving your order. Stay away from thali's if you want to enjoy some really tastey food. stick to your instinct and place an order for anything on the menu and  enjoy the food. I will definitely visit this place again to try a few more delicacies and update the review soon.
