Review Defence Bakery Since 1962 - New Delhi

If you like pastries and bakery items, don't miss visiting this place. I was alone so couldn't try much but definitely worth visiting multiple times to try their variety of cakes. Some cakes may not be as tasty as they look. But you know it's hard to find good bakery stuff or else you need to visit expensive places. This is were average budget person can enjoy good pastries and bakery items.

It’s an OK bakery in the neighbourhood. The pricing, variety and the services provided are all to a medium standard. I had burnt basque cheesecake, salted caramel brownie and chocolate donut. The best out of the three was the cheesecake yet the pricing for the other two was more reasonable. They sure can improve a lot to compete with the emergence of the new cafes and bakeries in the colony.

It has been ages since I have coming to Defence Bakery for desserts. No words can describe the utter perfection, be it, cakes, patisseries, macrons, muffins, breads, sandwiches, doughnuts, chocolates, cookies, 🍭, or anything else. The rates are extremely reasonable too. They do have imported coffee too. Do it a shot if you are nearby or if you can!! Do try the Opera pastry, it is pure chocolate delight!

My daughter Meral loves Defence Bakery's 🧁🥯. Black Forest (eggless), Plain Vanilla Muffins, Focaccia and Breads... Prices are reasonable.. Quality and Hygiene is the best 😊.

Definitely worth a visit! One of the best bakeries in Delhi-NCR that easily matches up to Wenger's and surpasses it in terms of price. Highlights include: marble cake, sausage rolls, rusk, range of breads on offer, chicken patty and opera cake (basically haven't tried any food item that isn't good so far). :)

The bakery was excellent although the pricing on some items was rather high.The variety of cakes , cupcakes , quiches and other snacks was also good. They had multiple options even in the blueberry cheesecake I wanted.

Defence bakers from 1962. About the safety they have to work on them as public don't comply much. Lot of bakery items and real gud. Too much crowded and service at the bakery is not fast. They took almost 15-20 min to take my order. Cake is real gud, prepared on time and same as I ordered. So overall may be due lack of staff they r not able to handle the crowd, otherwise it is like 8/10 for me. And I recommend other also.

Excellent quality it's been there for years only because they have upgraded themselves timely... Tried and tested several times.. good quality.. value for money... Hope they just add quality cheesecakes too soon Few cheesecake needs to be added

Very pleased with Defence Bakery . They did a revamp of their menu a few ago and updated their pastry and breads offerings . I like them for their consistent quality . I get their breads , some of their cookies and they’ve an excellent cake selection .

They are taking complete undue advantage of the lockdown. I visited them personally wrote down my order clearly and as requested paid the full amount of Rs 5500 to pick up the next morning as it was a big order. Sent my driver to pick up the order the next day and the items were wrong! Besties The process took an hour as neither would they deliver (in def col) nor would they let my driver enter, nor would they hand over the order at the door! The staff and guard were super rude! Corona doesn’t give a reason to give third grade service!! Very disappointed and unexpected.

Defence bakery is the Worst bakery I have ever seen in my life their quality is so bad . Even they have not worried about there customer at all . I personally visit their bakery to complain about my daughter first birthday cake but they have not value my words and feeling . But just said their make the cake like this only . Guys the cake a too much sweet and not even free .

If someone has been waiting for 5-6 minutes, you’re supposed to bill their order first regardless of how much of a hurry the other person is in. Basic principle of management which you can’t follow.

Amazing patties, rolls and pastries. This is perhaps one of the best bakeries in delhi and has rarely disappointed me. Paneer patty and mashroom with paneer roll are just wow!

Even though a lot of other dessert parlours have opened up in the def col market nothing can beat def bakery... however their savoury item can definitely be better and hence deducted one star.

Very old bakery in town ... they tried themselves to upgrade with huge variety of bakery stuff with them but in this they have changed the taste of the cakes and pastries which were their signature food ... the quality has also deteriorated from past

Awesome variety of pastries. My favorite are the mini tarts they serve.. Like chocolate and fresh fruit. Other great pastries are truffle and fresh fruit pastry.

A very old bakery and expensive because it is in defence colony, yet popular, parking not easy, try their Apple pie, cinnamon rolls, black Forest eggless pastry and chicken and mushrooms patties, gaudy looking cakes so never tried any of them

Love the desserts and the cakes..!!! Anytime favourite is Chocolate tart and upside down pineapple cake..!! The confectionary items are also amazing and the whole range of breads..!! The chocolate truffle cake is my another favourite for the birthday cakes..!!!

One of the better versions of the eggless chocolate truffle cakes that I have eaten. Will certainly try the variety available in deserts on my next visit to this bakery. However I would not recommend their Easter egg. It was all flour and no marzipan. Please avoid this one completely.

Worst experience of ordering on phone which anyone can have. Inspite of ordering a day before and repeating the order thrice including watsapp and phone the guys delivered a wrong cake and dat too not on time. They have very poor communication skills and everyone is putting blame on each other about the mistake. The way they wanted to correct the mistake was also very moneyminded. The surprise was ruined. On phone the lady said rs 940, as soon as i made half advance payment the total jumped to 1840. When i asked later how is this possible then she said it mustve been a communication error. I payed 500 online and my cake was confirmed on account of depositing 50% money. later the bill comes out to be 1840 for a cake i didnt order.<br/>

I am a regular at this bakery since childhood.<br/>Over the years we have had the breads, pastries and other items.<br/>However my absolute favourite is the bakes NY cheesecake.<br/>It is pure absolute delight at such pocket friendly price.

Placed order of cake a day before. Order team forget forward request to chef. Since i was left with no alternative on request they arranged from another branch. I assumed to be good . However it was stale and fruits on it were sore. Pathetic cake . Would never suggest to rely for ur spl occasion on them

Loved their brown bags/packaging! Their items are very reasonably priced and super fresh. The delivery was also done timely, despite the fact that it was raining. Have ordered a chocolate truffle cake recently as well. Would love to order for snacks and cakes on a regular basis.

Hands down the best bakery in Delhi imo. The rates are reasonable without compromising the quality. I have tried the Eclair pastry, pineapple pastry, choco tart. My personal favorite is the pineapple pastry. I can confidently say that I can vouch for their taste and quality

Being in Delhi and not heard of Defence Bakery is a criminal offence. What’s good here ?? Their bakery assortment - Buns, breads, bagels are all excellent. Their cake rusks, wine cookies are just hard to resist! The chocolate tea cake is out of this world! This place is a must must go!!

Somebody gifted this delicious chocolate cake from this place. The last to last time I had something from Defence bakery, the quality was very much degraded. But this time it was amazing. The cake was soft and tasted delicious!

Going by the rating I decided to order banana walnut cake/ bread and plum cake from Defence Bakery, and they turned out to be utterly disappointing. The banana walnut cake was dry and crumbly, and seemed like it was made with banana flavouring than actual bananas. As someone who has baked banana cakes before, I could make out that it was artificially flavoured. The Plum cake was also tasted of artificial flavouring, and was extremely sticky like fudge.And they charge a steep delivery fee as well. What an huge blunder! Safe to say that I will never order from this place again.

I m always in love with their pound cakes whether its eggless or egg ones it's super yummy. I always prefer to have chocolate chip muffins n their vanilla cake it's delicious. Very much recommended.

Rich plum cake. Here the secret th the taste with rum and kismiss n large quantity which gives an outstanding taste. Very heavy and fulfilling to eat.

This Bakery has been in the town since 1970. I have tried a lot of stuff on their menu. Although not something like Big Chill cafe, but, they are comparable to bakeries like Angel's in my kitchen.<br/>Recommended-Pineapple pastry, Bonanaza Pastry, Truffle Pastry, Banoffee pie, pizza rolls and Tiramisu. <br/>Try their bakery made cakes, hazelnut spread and breads.

Cookies, chocolates, pies, pastries (of all type), cakes, muffins, breads and what not! You name it and it's there. Such an authentic taste, just love it! It's been more than 3 years I have been ordering my birthday cakes from here and I am never disappointed. However sizes of the pastries have been reduced which is heartbreaking! But overall my experience so far is amazing and I do look forward to again here whenever I have a craving!

I have been frequenting Defence Bakery for years now and continue to be their loyal customer till date, despite so many bakeries mushrooming in the Defence colony market. However , I am very upset with how they have completely disregarded instructions given for icing a simple red velvet cake ! I had ordered a one kg cake day before and had specifically asked for black icing but the guy said he would make it a red n black combo as black on its own wouldn’t look good. I agreed and asked him to write it all down. He said he would and went ahead and gave us a cake (today) with only red icing . If that’s what I wanted, I would’ve bought it off the shelf !! This is most unprofessional and disappointing 👎🏼

I find their most products average and below average and prices affordable for the prime location they are located at. Most of the bakes I've had have been ordinary and all of the bakes which have been delivered have nice packaging and average or below average products. Their Almond Biscotti is among the worst you can get in Delhi. <br/>Their Sausage Rolls are average plus and definitely value for money for price and place they are served at. <br/>looks like their business model is to keep prices low while playing on size, quality of raw material and quality of bake. 30 years back there were few choices in Delhi for bakeries outside 5 Star hotels, now things are different. They need to improve their quality and portion and re-look at moving their prices northwards to be a brand they are now just perceived to be.

Sent my driver with a list asking for burger buns and cheese slices and was given a New York cheese cake instead of the cheese slices.The driver was told the the cake was not returnable.When I sent it back I was told that the cake was not intact,maybe I was given a broken cake in the first place. Worst service ever! The staff is not informed at all! Even if their product quality is good but the services they provide is terrible. They charge 5 rs for a carry bag which they do not inform you while ordering. Also the amount printed on the bill is not what you have to pay. They charge you extra delivery which is not printed on the bill but written separately with a pen on the bill! On asking them they do not even let you talk to the manager. I had ordered before from the GK branch with which I was really happy about but this time it has been the worst experience.

This place offers younfrwsh and authentic bakery food. The chicken quiche, the baked mushroom, chicken and paneer roll here is good, apart form that you should try out the Apple pie, walnut pie, the bakery special cookies, and alot more. They also suit the need of he customer in case of a special order or a delivery.

Good old Defence bakery is just the same,years and years on they are able to maintain the consistency. Tried the mix fruit tart today and loved the taste , it had a good base and interesting filling with succulent fruit chunks. Subtle not over powering the flavors

Ah the good old defence bakery! Have been going here for years now the quality is consistent!! Our household cannot function without the staple cookies from here - be it chocolate walnut or coconut macarons or their coffee peanut cookies.. love the savoury stuff too..Defence Bakery is here to stay despite all the pseudo competition in the market. We ordered mango cake from Defence Bakery today. This is how it was delivered. Shocking is the only word that comes to mind. Not worth the price of Rs. 1050/- + Rs. 60 additional for delivery charges.

It is one of the most amazing bakery! The moment you enter, you're filled with such happiness with the first fragrance of that little vanilla choco chip muffin enters your mind. It has all sorts of sweets and savories and it's really nice. Their muffin is thr best out of all and Smoked Chicken Sandwich was absolutely delicious!

Heard about all the hype so went to check it out with a friend.<br/><br/>The entry and the ambience is very pretty and aesthetic , the shop gives you a range of products to try from.<br/><br/>What we tried :<br/><br/>1. Rum balls - The Rum balls were really tasty and chocolaty but the only complaint I had with it was that it contained "kishmish". Now, a lot of people probably like that kishmish bursting now and then in their mouth but I don't.<br/><br/>2. Red velvet - It's often that I consider Red Velvet as a standard for a good bakery since, red velvet is a very tricky pastry not in the terms of its texture but in the term of giving it it's balanced sweet and sour taste .<br/>The first step of identifying a good red velvet is to see if the shop uses cream cheese (Red velvet always tastes best with cream cheese) or buttercream. And as expected Defence bakery uses cream cheese.<br/><br/>However the pastry itself could have been a little better hence i would say I have had better red velvet pastries elsewhere.<br/><br/>Since it is one of the oldest bakeries in town, its credibility justifies your visit. So I would recommend everyone to go try it once !

Staff is friendly. Cakes are Value for money place and price. The ingredients used are fresh. The cake is always fresh . The cake is yummy and fabulous. Absolutely pathetic experience!! Its been 2 hours that we ordered food. And we ordered in kotla for which they just had to cross the road and deliver. The bakery has no idea where there driver is. They gave us the driver’s number. The driver has no idea about the order. And every time they told us, he has left is going to reach and eventually told us call the driver. So disorganised, the bakers and delivery guy have no idea and no coordination. Have been waiting for food for 2 hours. Absolutely pathetic experience!! Not even worth one star.

It's a simple bakery, neat and tidy and has excellent display of all the food items they have to offer. Footfall is high and many a time the personal touch is missing because of the rush at the Bakery. But when free the staff attends to you well and is welcoming. Defence Bakery is one of the best bakeries, with the best bread, which is absolutely delicious and soft. They have a great patisserie section, with amazing cakes which they customise for birthdays. They also have an amazing sandwich and subs section. I definitely reccomend the chicken and mayo sandwich, the whole wheat bread, and the chocolate truffle pastry.

This place is super good,i guess this is one of the best bakery in south delhi.!! Weather its about their cookies or weather its about their walnut cakes almost all the things are super good..& upmost all that they have very nice jams.!! Hope they will maintain the same quality as always.!!

An age old name in Delhi’s bakery scene, it’s my go-to-place for muffins. I was recently at the Def Col market and to satiate my sugar buds, packed a whole bunch of muffins – strawberry, blueberries and choco-chips. They serve good portions for the price charged and I absolutely love the gooey fruity jams inside the muffins. I also tried the choc walnut brownie but it was too sweet and sugary in taste. One must try out their freshly baked breads too – loved the masala bread.

I went here during the time of Christmas and just by looking at the number of people inside i could make out what Defence Bakery actually is famous for. Though i went there for plum cake and it was just marvellous. The right amount of raisins with a twist of Rum.<br/>After this visit i have been a frequent visitor to this place.

The cheesecake was soft and creamy in texture, sinfully topped with blueberries. Banana Walnut cake, buttery crossiant, chicken tikka roll and freshly baked breads are hit items that gets sold out too easily. It is a place that you can buy any item and it wont disappoint you. Out of all the fancy cakes, you can try as you wish to, as they certainly won't disappoint you. The best thing about them- the items are fresh and reasonably priced. This ensures that it remains crowded and is indeed a very popular destination to stop and pick up something between your office and home among the locals!

This is one of the finest bakery in Delhi. I went there yesterday with a friend. Tired patties and choco lava cake. The quality of food served is very good and taste is also amazing.<br/><br/>4.5* for food

If you are a dessert person, you should definitely go to this place.<br/>You can try almost anything here and you wouldn't be disappointed.<br/>My favourites are: Red velvet cake, Chocolate Truffle.<br/>Cupcakes are amazing too!

They have have great cakes,and I happen to be a fan of there choco fudge cake and chocolate truffle cake.<br/>The breads to are well made and have a wide variety of the same.<br/>The pricing is reasonable and quality impeccable..<br/>It is undoubtedly the best bakery in defence colony .

One of the worst experience with any bakery.<br/>Ordered a strawberry cake online, recieved the online bill. They comfirmed they are sending a strawberry cake<br/>What i Recieved was a fruit cake not a strawberry cake.<br/>When i called them, they told me strawberry cake has got expensive, i need to pay more.... More than there online menu<br/>Then they agreed to replace but i have not recieved any cake ...its been 2 hours<br/>They are not picking my call... There is no manager available... The manager is cutting the call on personal no.<br/>Worst experience...<br/>Can never think of booking a cake from there

it is one of the most iconic place of defence colony. here, you will get dofferent food items and the price will be controlled.<br/><br/>i like some of their cookies which are eggless somedays. their chocolate truffle cake is the besta nd they also do customization.

I would have given Defence Bakery a much better rating, but UNFORTUNATELY since the owners have left the store to the staff, they NEVER pick up the landline and disconnect the phone constantly.

A perfect place to satiate your sweet tooth. We are always very impressed by the quality and presentation of the cakes at Defence Bakery. Yesterday we tried their blueberry cheesecake, chocolate bonanza pastry and mississippi mud pie. The cheesecake was soft and creamy topped with blueberries, chocolate bonanza was delicious and just our kind and mud pie was yummy with a touch of crunchiness.<br/>Apart from everything sweet they offer a wide variety of bakery items and quick grabs. Their freshly baked cakes are simply unbeatable. They do customised cakes on request. The bakery is small but setup is wonderfully done. Not a very big fan of their confectionary but love their breads! Specially their cheese And masala bread. Oh abc their garlic bread toasties are also quite nice !

I love defence bakery! I've tried an assortment of their items and it never fails to disappointment. Their quality has always been consistent. I generally opt for their breads, sausage rolls and their chocolate walnut pie. Their cheesecakes are really nice as well.

This bakery has been in business for quiet a few decades now and boosts itself of its homemade bakery items. I am a fan of the bakery items, different variety of breads, brownies, muffins, cup cakes. They are the only ones with such a big variety of breads in defence colony. They also serve small meals like rolls, sandwiches, quiche which are also good. But when it comes to cakes, there are better options in town. Not a big fan of their cakes.

OKAY so lemme begin with my overall experience of eating everytime from Defence Bakery. Its my favourite bakery and i love eating from here. Be it there pineapple upside down or opera or tiramisu, it really yumm. They focus a lot on the consistency of the quality in each item. Love it.

Their cakes are better than that of whipped which happens to be on the same lane. In your first bite of your chocolate truffle you would realise a number of flavors bursting in your mouth. The bread inside of it is soft and spongy.<br/>If you happen to be in defense colony and have a craving for chocolate then these guys will make sure you end up having a never ending affair with them.<br/>

This used to be one of the most famous bakeries of Delhi, and for good reason. Though savories here aren't too fancy or over the top, but they are adequately lovely. Their breads are particularly well-known. The prices will cheer you up even more. The cakes however, are fairly average. Their are a number of bakeries in the vicinity now, and this place needs to up its game. <br/>I personally really like the lemon meringue tart.

Defence Bakery a good bakery to find all bakery items you need for any occasions... i liked the  presentation of each and every bakery item. A great stop to get all you need for Christmas and birthdays...

One of the oldest and yummiest pastry shops for fresh breads and pastries . Do visit this place if you're around but they really have a congested place and the staff is a lil to catch up on all the customers. Otherwise it's yumm

There is a gush of warmth that encapsulates you when you open the door to this bakery. The people are amiable and nice. Amongst the many things tried, the butterscotch cake was a pleasant surprise to cut into. The craft and precision with which each delicacy is designed, points to the long road the bakery has journeyed through. =)

We have been to this bakery a couple of times had their sumptuous cakes and pastries but this time it was an utter failure considering it was my baby boy’s 1st bday. I placed this order 4 days prior with all the specifications mentioning no chocolate. I needed only butterscotch flavor but probably they forgot to take care of my request and gave chocolate butterscotch. I wrote an email asking for an explanation and also asking them to get the cake picked up since our event got spoiled and the cake was of no use to us. Got no reply no call and later when i called the response I got from a staff was yeah we received ur email and some one will call u but the cake always comes in such combinations. We cannot make only butterscotch or only vanilla. Gawwddd do they really think people who eat are dumb enough to buy this logic. Till date no call or reply from the bakery and definitely surprises me that a name like them can afford to take such chances. <br/>Let me add this, the cake looked beautiful, was fresh and tasty but not what was expected. <br/>Thankfully this was our midnight surprise cake for our lil one and not the big one else everything would have gone for a toss. <br/>Defence Bakery - please live up to your name and do not forget that a happy customer brings business.Jitin Kapur
