Review Lama Kitchen - New Delhi

Rushali Gupta
Located just outside the exit gate of Hauz Khas lake, it's a small but good place to have of the best Himalayan food. A good variety of options for both vegetarians and non- vegetarians with good service. It has a very low-key vibe yet you can sit at the balcony to get a very good view. Good place to go with small circle of friends. I personally liked their Datchi very much taste of which is quite addictive. Enticing flavors which you can't forget.

A nice cute cozy little restaurant serving authentic pan Himalayan cuisine. The staff is warm and sweet. The view from the cafe is really amazing! They serve some really good authentic momos. The portions are large so order accordingly. We were unable to finish the thali as we got quite full on the starters. The thali actually has soba noodle but they didn’t have it in stalk so gave us herbed rice instead which also tasted good.

Loved the food and the ambience althought the service could have better. We ordered their Nepalese and Bhutanese dishes and they were a delight. The prices are reasonable too and the zomato gold offers are just a cherry on the cake.

Lama Kitchen exceeded our expectations on every front! The view set the perfect backdrop for a cozy Friday evening. The food, especially the Tibetan platter, pork momos, and paneer momos, were exceptional. What truly elevated our visit was the service from the staff. It was our first time, and their thoughtful suggestions and attentiveness added a personal touch to the evening. Lama Kitchen is a definite five-star gem for those seeking a perfect blend of stunning views, delectable cuisine, and top-notch service. Highly recommended!

DELICIOUS. Some of the best noodles I've ever tasted. The way you always imagine them to be after seeing them on tv. The view was also stunning and romantic. Staff friendly and spoke excellent English. They described perfectly to me what was on the menu. And best of all? A real sink to clean your hands properly (NOT hand sanitizer).

The most lovable thing is the singers performing there. Both the male and female singer make the environment so soothing and it's great listening to them. The service was really nice. Though the place has space issues but location is nice. The food was average but I enjoyed my cold coffee.

Very good restaurant for Nepali, Tibetan, and Bhutanese food. It is located in the famous Hauz Khas village. It's a small but cozy place with a good ambience. We had Nepali thali, aloo momos, mutton shabalay, Tibetan non veg platter, fried chicken momos, and steamed fish. The food was delicious. Especially, their aloo momos were outstanding and are a must try. Service may take a while as the place is usually full. But the food is worth the wait. Food portions are decent but slightly pricey. The restaurant has a beautiful hauz khas fort view. It has both ac and non ac sections. It is also suitable for family and kids. Their cocktails are also refreshing.

The food was really tasty. The chicken wai wai salad was a perfect crunchy snack 🫶🏽🤌🏽 The ambience could be set better. Apart from that it was a great experience. 🫶🏽

If you are looking for a place to enjoy a good plate of momos with a view then you should definitely try this place out! I tried their Chicken , Mutton and Potato momos. One of the juiciest momos. They serve three kinds a dips along with it. Service here was quick and place spacious as well.

If you are someone who love good food with peaceful environment and comforting ambience then, you should definitely visit lama kitchen in hkv. It's a pretty place with good Nepali and Tibetan cuisine. You also have options to choose from Kashmiri cuisine in the menu. I love love their juicy chicken momos and chow chow noodles were so good. The spicy sauces they serve along were so good thay couldn't wait to visit again. They also serve street style laphing. It tastes exactly same as what you have in mkt. Must visit!

Recently visited this place with my friends to try a variety of momo and I just loved their Chicken Momo & Mutton momo. Apart from this, they do have Nepali and Tibetan cuisine. And lastly, I had their absolutely yumm chocolate cake 😍

Truly delicious! The mono and the chicken choile were outstanding sitting on the deck looking at the ruins was great!

They have changed the ambience but the food is good none the less. Amazing momo, never tasted momo like this before. 🫶

I found this place while roaming around HKV with my friend. My search for good Himalayan Food ended right here. The atmosphere of this place is so peaceful. The ambiance is quite wonderful. It gives such homely vibes. The balcony view is one of the best views that I've come across ever. The lake view is definitely a plus point for Lama Kitchen in addition to their authentic Himalayan food & great hospitality. I ordered the Veg lama platter, Hakka noodles, Iced Tea & cold coffee. The Iced tea was super good. Cold coffee was fine as well. Hakka noodles were okayish, but the platter was very amazing. It was Nepali snack platter. It had Aloo sadeko, Chana bhuteko, bao & Wai Wai bhel. Each dish was yumm. Wai Wai bhel was spicy and exactly of my taste. Overall, I'd say that this place is a must visit if you want to experience the best of Himalayan food (Nepali & Tibetan food included), along with a beautiful view and calming vibes. Would love to visit again to try the dishes I missed out on my first visit.

If you are looking for a authentic Tibetan and Neplaees cuisine then this is the place for you. They have a lot of variety of food ranging from Dimsum, momos, datsai, laphing etc. Their kothe momos and mutton momos is very juicy. The best part is the amazing view from the restaurant.

If you are looking for authentic Nepali and Tibetan food then Lama's kitchen should be in your list totally loved the Jhol Momos, wai wai and potato momos here.

We went to this place in hopes of getting some quick momos for takeaway from a small hole in the wall shop, at least that's what we thought. When we got there, the proprietor Gagan convinced us to give their chef and place a proper dine-in. We are so glad that we actually did get convinced and thought of trying out this place. The place from the moment you step in totally reminds you of a proper household kitchen. The proprietor and the staff are super amicable and are more than welcome to help you navigate their menu. We were recommended to try out an off the menu lamb curry with steamed rice and also Kothe Momos. The place definitely is a bit hidden, can be difficult to spot from the street, but as the phrase goes "nothing good comes easy". I am not exaggerating, but the food was just heavenly. I got reminded of true home food. The lamb was so soft, we could literally see it melt off the bones. The texture and flavour of the meat and the gravy was just exquisite. The momos were also equally mouth watering and yummy. We are definitely coming here again to check out the menu properly. This is a place that I would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone looking for some really sumptuous and homely food.

Good food. Ambience is very peaceful. Hauz khas crowd generally has gone very bad in the last few years. But this place is an exception. Calm, Laid back, peaceful.

The best ever, I still remember the exact taste of every momo bite I took Yesterday. A must visit when you are in Hauz khas. ♥♥

Though I could not read the menu that well or should I say understand the items mentioned but the abundance of Buff and Pork items on the menu was a clear sign that I was at the right place. I tried the Mothuk which is kind of a Soupy Momos dish which was amazing with all the herbs and spices mixed. Also I ordered a Buff Thukpa which was a lot different than the usual one's that I have already tried. Must try is their Homemade Lemonade. If you are a sucker for good and authentic food, this one is a must visit.

Emmadachi I love this dish... Even the staff was too good.. I love this place..

Has the most delicious Momos ever in Lama Kitchen. They were very Juicy and melted in my mouth. The sauces were excellent, I felt like taking the sauces home to try with my other food. Keep Up the good work :)

Simply superb!!!! A true example of "zaraa hatke" ... Special mention of Datchi potato and jumbo momo that simply melts in your mouth !!

Amazing food!! Loved the wide range of vegetarian starters. My favs were Newari Momo and Lama's veg. Platter. Noodle soups could be better but that doesn't mean they weren't good.
Deepak Kaintura
Amazing food yummy very very nice Yummy Yummy

Cockroach in our food. Staff was mildly apologetic. Made us pay for the after cancelling the affected dish and a 20% discount.

A must visit place. Beautiful Ambiance & excellent food, the best part is the peaceful vibes this place gives, which you don't get easily now a days. So if you like peaceful place, with great food, give it a try. A nice experience for the friends and family.

The order was not packed properly. Half of the gravy leaked out of the container when I opened the bag. The order was supposed to be delivered with rice which the restaurant didn’t. Very disappointed.
#W@nderIng_Al🤓🤓?!
All items were showing available in app bit not there is restaurant. I opted for this place thinking amazing menú and food should b great as well but item was not available at all even though I pre paid for the order. Please be careful and call before ordering because what they show on app is not true.

(4.5)

The Lama kitchen and Yeti are twin restaurants with the same/quite similar menu at both places. Among my favourite restaurants to hang out at in Delhi NCR, I take EVERYONE there. Upon entering, one is greeted with wooden interiors and Himalayan music, along with Buddhist iconoclasm all around. The seating looks a little cramped at times, but is quite comfortable and overlooks the fort.

The place serves Nepali-Indian-Bhutanese-Chinese fusion food, and trust me, the combination works like clockwork! Before the food is served, they bring you the assortment of sauces with a disclaimer about the heat content of every sauce, labelled Spicy, Very spicy and Extra spicy by the restaurant.

As I have been a regular here, I have tried a large portion of their menu, so I'll just list my favourites - Mutton Choila, Pork Lemon fried, Mutton/Chicken Wai Wai, Buff with Onion and a traditional Nepali Mutton curry, called Khashi Ko Mashoo. The ones on the second rung are the Bhutanese Datchi and Chem, Spicy shredded Pork, Gyuma, Lowa and Wai Wai Sadeko. The Shabhaley and other dumpling variants were ok, but not too impressive.

They do not disappoint with their fare, and maintain quality in variety. Every meal there is replete with a whole assortment of delicious dishes. All my guests to that place have loved the food, Indians and foreigners alike. Make it a point to dip everything in their hot sauces, but please don't count the Scoville units in them!

Strangely, I can't seem to find any pictures of the place! Probably we are always too eager to eat!

Worth visiting once.
Worth visiting twice.
Worth visiting over and over and over.

As is evident in this tag list-
Atiqa Athar Saumya Kharbanda Shristi Gupta Anvith Bhat Harish Ramesh Balani Harjit singh

Lama kitchen!!

It has beautiful view of the fort. The food was fabulous. Tried veg pan fry momo and chicken choila.
It is worth visiting.
.

Between the multiple pubs and cafes in the busy Hauz Khas Village road stands this Tibetan restaurant and me being a big Tibetan cuisine fan had to visit.
The obvious start was with Chicken Momos which were okay, not as good as I expected as they were a bit dry. Next up was Chicken Thenthuk and Chicken Noodles. Thenthuk was decent while the Noodles were quite good. Main issue with both was that both had less of Chicken.
The ambiance is well done and service is okay.

I was searching for yeti and accidentally went to this place to try new restaurant for Himalayan cuisine. The ambience is good and the food was also good. However, there were flies in the restaurant and they also didn't accept the zomato gold. I ordered ema daitchi and veg dry thupka. My overall experience was fine, however in comparison to yeti, it was not that good.

At the very end of the infamous HK Village, you can find this restaurant on the second floor. It's wooden interiors and helpful staff is a complete contradiction of HKV.
I could barely make 3 things out of the menu, so we relied on the waitress advice. She went by the process very logically, asked us which meats then told us each curry that's available. I was thoroughly impressed by the staff.
The food is as good as the stuff is at helping customers, it takes you back to the high barren lands of the lama even if you haven't been there (I was the only person out of four who's been to Leh :P)
Sakshi
The ambience is awesome. And cocktails are amazing. Especially blackjack and green apple liit. Superb service by Vishal. Thank you for an awesome time.

A quiet and simple place, The food was good but there is not much variety in the menu.... wait time was a bit longer
The first singer was good but the second one was a bit annoying.
Sharanjeet Singh
Amazing mutton and chicken pan fried momos here.
amazing ambient of this place
You will feel like you are in tibet
freshly maked and delicious momos
cost would be around 375 + taxes.

We took a few friends who were visiting us from PUNE. Read a few reviews and chose the place and it didn’t disappoint. Very different food. Great service.

We visit this place a because i love himalayan food. . Very clean, very good food. We dine there with my friend.Good service , will go back.
Hannah
Disappointing ! 80% of the menu was not available. The place looked empty. The service was bad. The few food item they has were not good.
Ac doesn't work also.

I went to this restaurant a week back with my best friend. Outside the restaurant they have placed a sticker saying- restaurant under construction but surprisingly they were serving food.

The food was fine, not so delicious.

I guess Yeti serves more nicer food than this one.
Shellan Saling
Fantastic place! Believe they have the best momos in South Delhi. I really enjoy their spinach especially because normally I do not like spinach but ALWAYS love the crispy spinach here
Rajat Vashishta
Happened to visit this place by chance since Yeti in HKV closed down. Their menu is almost identical to Yeti's. The food taste is not though. We generally order the veg platter with Wai Wai Sadeko, Bhuteko Chana, Piro Aloo and a Tingmo. Most of this was good. Their sauces and pastes were fewer but nice. I also ordered a soup (Little Momo Soup), which turned out to be awesome.

The service is sluggish and the inclination towards customer satisfaction was less than expected. Nevertheless, if you like Himalayan Cuisine, this place is a good alternative to Yeti.

The Food wasn't overall as good as I had expected to be. The staff was nice and courteous. But the food good be better. Had ordered chicken datchi which I was really excited about, pan fried noodles, mutton momos on curry and chicken momos. Nothing really impressed me a lot.
We wanted to try some tibetan and nepali cuisine so we ended up at this place in Hauz Khas. It is a small place and seems to be a pretty old one. We ordered the following dishes:
Mushroom Datchi: This cheese and mushroom based dish was absolutely delicious and we definitely wanted more.
Dry veg thukpa: It had a little less flavour because the ratio of noodles was slightly more.

Overall we were satisfied with the food and the taste. The staff was courteous. The only issue we faced was that we wanted to use zomato gold but the restaurant refused saying that the dishes which we ordered do not fall under zomato gold. I would recommend people going there to clarify these things before ordering.

Good vibe, delicious food, everything was adjusted to my likings, personally I really liked the balcony area .. Because of the amazing view they have here 👌,Will plan something with family next time, great experience, will visit soon.

Really loved the vibe of this place, friendly staff , ordered Nepali chicken Thali & chow chow chicken noodles, everything was delicious.. Loved it .. Really enjoyed the beautiful view from here.. Had a great time.. Thank you
Kevin Zoremsanga
Ordered jadoh, bit disappointed and did not have the meghalayan taste.
Also orderes buff, which smelt bad like it had been in the freezee for a while.
Ambience is very nice though.
Raagini Bhalla
The service was good. We ordered steamed chicken momos served with two types of sauces. The momos were tasty and they have 8 in a plate. So, way to go! The sauces were super spicy but added a good flavour to the momos.
We also ordered Wai Wai which was cooked dry with vegetables. I think it's a little expensive for just Wai Wai, however, it tastes good. It's a must try for snacking purposes.
The ambience is decent, but it was too hot and the tables next to the terrace entrance usually remain very warm.
Sugandha
Lama Kitchen !!

Went here with my friend for dinner. Not impressed by their food and service. I ordered steamed momos and crispy spinach with buns. You can't eat crispy spinach because it was too oily. Food was just okay. Their service was very slow and the staff was not attentive.

So, the ratings are like this :

Taste : 2/5
Presentation : 1/5
Service ; 2/5
Staff : 2/5
Hygiene : 2/5
Value for money : 1/5

We went there cos YETI in the village has shut down and we were in the mood for some Nepali/pahari food. It's a cute little place. However, the food is not that great. We ordered the veg and non veg platter and momos. All the meat was overcooked which is a big no for me. The chicken was chewy. The momo skin was thick and the filling underseasoned. The chutneys left you wanting. Would not recommend for the food.
Simran Malik
Located on the second floor, it has a beautiful view of the Hauz Khas fort. The food is fabulous and the servers are quite helpful in giving recommendations. We went in a large group and yet the service was great. Tried Keema Thukpa, Mothuko (momo soup), Datchi, Chem, Newari momos and dry wai wai. Every thing tasted delicious.

After every hard work we all need a good food to regain our energy for tomorrow. So we decide to go lamakitchen, and we found our all time favorite Momo's for the change we ordered fried aloo Momo's , and it was mouth watery crispy crunch from outside and juicy from inside perfectly fried. We both were really happy. And ofcourse one of their signature noodles soup which is called Thenthuk, it's a flat fresh made noodles if you haven't try yet. Go for it. You will not regret. Iam happy my stomach is happy so they deserve 5***** very beautifully maintain and peaceful music . Best of luck lamakitchen team.

Great place for a family get-together, had a memorable experience, staff was very welcoming & the service was quick too... Ordered a buff with onion ..chicken dry fry.. Chicken chow chow noodles & Gundruk. The food was yummy.. & spices were adjusted according to our preference. This place has very positive vibes.. It must be because of the amazing view they have.. Thank you for this experience.. Will definitely recommend.

Got to know about this place through tripadvisor, really liked this place, well cooked food & made according to my taste ,nice staff, good service, Really enjoyed the lake view from here,.. Had a fun time,.. Thank you... Will come back soon...

Have you ever wondered how expensive momos taste? In this case, they were horrific. With no taste or aroma, they sure were enough make a person feel sick. Furthermore, the waiters! Totally confused and very slow. Not recommended for visit to anyone.
Paromita Patranobish
Ordered fried pork and mutton momos and both were greasy, flavourless and disappointing. The pork was overdone, leathery, and had zero flavour. The dish had an overpowering taste of chilli and oil, and the accompanying greens were uncooked and tasteless. The momos were dry, the mutton tasted okay but the momo dough was too thick and underdone in some places. This came as a surprise as we had a much better experience at this place when we last visited in January. Sad to see the quality deteriorate so soon.
Kashika Walla
Waited for the food for 30 mins only to get really bland food. Even the proportion on salt was not upto the mark. Do not expect proper Himalayan food
Isha Saini
Authentic food lover then this is the place for you there noodles soup bowl or momos soups are to die for ...they serve you and let you enjoy your meal in peace one of the best place

Lama kitchen is a quiet and beautiful place.
It is worth visiting.
If you want to enjoy a day by yourself, so this is it❤️.
If you want to go visit a place which is quiet and calm, this is the place you are looking for.
I personally loved the aura of this place. I would rate it a 4.5.

Average Food and below average ambience. The only thing good about this place was it’s staff. Staff was courteous and took care of the needs. Wish the food had backed up their effort. Can be skipped.
Stuti Pandey
If you’re looking for a place with a good view and good Tibetian food, this is the place.
We ordered a plate or Chow Chow which is noodles with stir fried vegetables and Chilli chicken dry which was accompanied by a different kind of break, which was round in shape, and a bit sweet in taste. The service was not up to the mark, despite being a not so busy day, and less crowd.
It is a quiet place with soft music. You can have a view of the fort from the outdoor seating.
Food quality- 4.5/5
Ambience- 5/5
Service-4/5

It’s one of a kind restaurant in Hauz Khas village which is specialized in Nepalease, Tibetan cuisine. I have been there and order online too. Very amazing taste and total value of money.
Aishani Sadre
I simply loved this place! Seated in a cozy balcony overlooking the Hauz khaas fort , been served a piping hot Tibetan soup on a chilly rainy afternoon was perfection! Also not to miss are the momos, served with three kinds of chutneys.. a must try! We also had the chicken daktchi with a fermented Bhutanese bread... a great experience overall!
Cyek
My review is based purely on my experience of veg momos. I had some amazing mouth watering momos here. The place looks decent and staff is good too.
Sushil Mishra
I would definitely recommend this place if you are into Himalayan cuisines. They got some great Bhutani, Nepali & Tibetan dishes in their menu. We ordered veg jhol momos & It tasted than what you would get in Nepal at regular restaurants, ordered Lama Veg Platter as well, Lots to eat there.. very delicious. So if you want to have a nice meal with a great view in Hauz Khas Village, this Place is a great options.
Muskaan Malhotra
Visited this place reading after reading all the reviews and appreciation for their momos. Went in and ordered Chow Chow, Chicken Steam Momos and Chilly Chicken Dry. The momos were good but they were also quite overpriced. Chow Chow are pan fried noodles that they serve. The quantity of the noodles was way too less and the taste wasn’t good either. We hardly had a bite or two and returned it. Chilly chicken Dry wasn’t good either. Seemed like Chicken cooked in tomato ketchup.
I wish the food tasted as good as it looked. The restaurant was kind enough to not include the Chow Chow in the bill since we had returned it.
I certainly don’t recommend this place to anybody. But if you ever happen to be there, I only suggest you to try their Chicken Momos.

Excellent food ! Courteous staff , Peaceful Vibes . A must for pork and meat lovers. My new fav place. Great ambience and delicious food , must visit
Wasi Urrehaman
Last week, i went for lunch to this place that claims to serve authentic Himalayan food. They call themselves the Lama kitchen. So we ordered Lama's Special Pan Fried Chicken Momos ,which is a steamed momo fried on a skillet with seasoning but only on one side. Chicken Fried Rice and Steamed mutton Momos which looked pleasant and very fresh. So I consider myself a momos expert bcoz I eat them alot & I have to say that these Momos were probably among the juiciest if not the best ! All the sauces they served with the food were unique and not the usual and had their own flavours. I liked the sesame dip, which I mixed into the one which seemingly had ghost peppers. I really loved the view from this place, I could see the Hauz khas fort and the lake while eating my food. Will surely visit this place again and again whenever I'll have temptation for momos. A great experience, I didn’t expect such good food in delhi.....
Sunil Joshi
What a great place it is. Delicious food and humble staff with superb location. Mouth watering Nepali dishes or rather I say much like Uttarakhand’s fooding concept. Must try potato, gram and chaw chaw dish and momos.
Prarthna Grover
Been here yesterday In the evening for a late lunch alone after a stressful morning. I was feeling cold, and asked for their heater near my seat , which they gladly obliged. The place is so pretty & it gives full Himalayan vibes. I watched that the staff is really welcoming and seems to be popular with foreigners. Coming to the food, we ordered Chicken Momos, Datchi Potato & Pork Ribs with Veg Fried Rice. The momos came with 3 thick sauces & were YUMM.. Personally I ate like hell and ended up getting a lot of food packed, it was that good & the Hauz Khas Fort View from this place is just Amazing. Looking forward to visit again... Soon.. :)

YUM FOOD! Went there with my friend . This was’nt the first time I was eating such food although I never knew there was so much to eat. I was quite please to see the familiars of my past trips to the mountains were all here as well .We ordered wai wai sadeko & shapta. The food tastes much richer than street shacks which are good too, but I could taste better ingredients and that was an expected bonus.
We had a huge appetite that day so we hogged. They gave us complementary brownies. Would recommend everyone to give it a try. Thank you for a beautiful dining experience.
Zain
Tried this place with my sister. A common friend also recommended this place. I have to be honest I was not expecting much but it was nothing like I imagined. We ordered Chicken & Veg Thukpa and Mushroom Black Beans Paste with Tingmo. Everything thing was well made and adjusted to our taste by the staff and very very Delicious 😋. The View of the Hauz Khas Village monuments is beautiful from here. It feels like you’re almost in the fort . Very sweet and simple staff.

Great Food! Really loved the view.
The best place to go out with family in Hauz khas village if you are into Himalayan cuisines. Tried Datchi Buff and Lama veg platter. The food was well cooked and the view was like a cherry on the cake. Would definitely recommend.

Wonderful food! One of the best places in Delhi to be honest.
A few friends and I went to lama kitchen, and we were not disappointed one bit. Tender meat, fresh ingredients, great service with the beautiful fort view. Overall, one of the bestest place in Delhi to try different Himalayan cuisines.
Meenakshi Khemani
Very helpful and polite staff, ordered thukpa, wai wai sadeko and the hot & sour soup! Yummyy food - one of the best places for Himalayan cuisine I've been to!

The place is nice and the food they serve is also nice. Not a crowded place so it's easy to get accomodated and also a fast service, and the place is well maintained.

A very peaceful cafe with an equally pleasant ambiance. This place offers various Tibetian and Nepalese delicacies which are as tasty as the locals from that place claim them to be. #WouldRecommended

Hauz khas village is one of the place which I felt in love in one go and Lama Kitchen is one of my favored places in Delhi if you want a really delicious and peaceful meal with your loved ones. The staff is very polite but a little simple, the food can take time but it's quite fresh, I think they make it right then. Today I was with a friend and we shared the Wai Wai Sadeko which was similar to the one we make at home when we go to the mountains... But a little more spicy. Then I had the Nepali Thali which I couldn't finish. I really love the Mutton curry here as well, which was included. If you like clear soups, the spinach and egg drop soup is a must, it's not spicy but comes with a melt in the mouth feeling. Congrats for making such a wonderful family restaurant CHEERS!
Harsh Gopalani
I went there on a Saturday night and the restaurant seemed fairly empty. It has a very relaxed ambience. Coming to the food we ordered the choila chicken which seemed like an interesting dish but the texture was very hard. Then we ordered the chicken momos which were fairly decent. In the main course we ordered the thukpa and the datchi based on recommendations on Zomato but those were disappointing as well. The thukpa was average and the datchi is supposed to be a cheesy dish with a chilly hit but it lacked flavour completely.

Overall all the dishes were average or below average.
Ridhima Shukla
This restaurant has the best Tibetan food in Delhi. The Thupka was exquisite and just perfect. The tingmo dachi combination was supreme. I will keep going back and order for home too. My go to Tibetan place
Sourabh
Went to Lama Kitchen after hearing a lot about its momos. Their fried mutton momos are really awesome. But I cannot say the same about its other items. Crispy spinach was good, but too oily. But there cheese based Bhutani dishes were an absolute disaster, I cannot even recall their name now. All in all, a good olace for mutton momos, but not so much for other items. Also, expensive for the quality it provides
Shweta Shrestha
I ordered butter tea but sadly this is what i found (cockroach).. it was covered so I thought i will open & drink ... very disappointed .. this is my first & last order from this place .. will never order again & the tea was super cold & less !! Very bad

Just loved the place and food. If you like Tibetan food, this is the place. Yummy chicken momos and thupka. Will recommend this place for sure.

The place had a nice ambience, though slightly cold. I ordered the thientuk and bao which were good. Staff was helpful in explaining menu items. I didn't receive any water, while other tables were cared for more.

I have been here twice. Tried chicken and mutton Momo's.
Both were good to taste.
Also must try is thenthuk, it was really worth trying.
Even the thupka was very tasty.
The staff here always serves you with a smile.

Randomly just went into this place as I want ed to have pork momos and pork ribs.

I ordered pork and buff momos.
Nepali Thali, and pork ribs.

I just loved it all. The tea in the end just made my night.

The interior was also cool and cosy.

Hope to visit again.
Lama Kitchen is located towards the end of HKV lane, it's a quiet place with not very loud interiors or music. We ordered chem and chow chow both chicken. Chem is Bhutanese curry, we had it with tingmo, it was creamy and little spicy. Chow Chow was more or less roadside noodles given a fancy name.

One has to try out this one to enjoy some authentic and delicious Himalayan cuisines. This place looks very basic from inside, but great place to have your meal in peace. The Pan Fried Chicken and Soya dumplings are served with different sauce and they really taste different than the steamed ones. The Datchi chicken preparation was really good . The staff are amicable and the service was real quick. Has to give a five star when it comes to the Cost as the food was worth the price.

Last time I ordered thukpa and I got 2 box of noodle with the soup. But I received only one box of noodle with the soup this time. So make it clear...if you are sending 1 box or 2.
Just out of the blue decide to go to this place. It has a very calm ambience with calm music playing in the background. We ordered fried pork and chicken momos. Both dishes were decent just the fried pork was very spicy but tasty.

Lama Kitchen is specially in Himalayan food. I personaly like the place and it feels like you are in manali. So, I orded Pork Thukpa and Chow Chow. In thukpa all vegetable and pork was boiled. Chow chow is fried noodles with lots of vegetables. The food is very healthy and tasty. I will recommend Chow Chow . Beautiful serving and place and ambience was beautiful.

Very calm and peaceful place. If you are a fan of nepal food, this is the place to visit. I just found the service a little slow. Apart from that the ambiance, the food and the hospitality was good.

Forget about the taste, this restaurant is serving disgusting stale food. No lies, we both had dirrhea the very next day. Food is full of uncooked oil and the mutton shabalay was disgusting. We didn't even eat it after one bite. The mutton was stinking, slimy and had hair. I wouldn't have posted this but the dirrhea is not stopping. So had to. Please look into your supplies and cook food not full of uncooked oil. And this is not a case of one customer had a bad experience. Have been coming here since a long time. Have attached the bill as well. Shabalay is not included because we didn't eat it. Other items were equally awful.

Although the staff was supremely polite and courteous, this place will never ever be recommended by me. I had only ordered for a veg platter and was happily savouring every bite as I was very hungry when I happen to notice a dead bug right in the middle of my plate. Thankfully I noticed it!
Presence of a dead insect in the food being served to customers talks highly about the importance given to hygiene while cooking. Worst ever experience for me. I was disgusted to the core!

head to this place if you want to try nepali and bhutanese cuisine..we had ordered mutton momos, datchi chili which is served with a soft nepali bun and a nepali thali..food was delicious and filling and you'll end up craving for more..be careful while having the momos as they have a lot of oil inside so you might end up spilling it..they have a really nice set up and gorgeous view of the lake

Excellent pork, perfect fat to meat ratio. Excellent accompaniments.. will def order again.
Asked for extra spicy and got extra spicy 🌶✔️
Good job

Very homey place! Great if you like Himalayan and Nepalese cuisine, but the experience is above and beyond food. The place has a very unhurried pace and just elicits great conversation. Staff was lovely and luckily while we were there the crowd was also very mindful and courteous of others. Would recommend for great food, calming music, and muted WWE playing on the TV. Top notch.

I stopped by this place while strolling along the streets of hkv. It is on the second floor and as soon as you enter the place, you feel welcomed by the ambience as well as the staff. We sat in the balcony area (there is indoor seating as well) because it was early in the evening and the weather was just great. While at the table, we got a beautiful view of the hkv tomb and the greenery surrounding it. We sat there and saw the sun set as we ate. The place had a very soothing ambience which was greatly helped by the calm himalayan music playing in the background. After some time, the place really transported us to the mountains. The manager was really sweet and helpful and helped us with ordering. This place serves majorly Nepali and also Burmese cuisine. We ordered the Nepali thali which was enough for two people. It had a huge variety of delectable vegetables, dal, paneer curry, curd, and rice. Everything on the plate had a unique taste and was just mesmerising. After the thali, we had thenthuk which is similar to a thupka and has variety of vegetables in a clear soup. It was one of the most comforting dishes I have had in a long time. The warmth of the thenthuk with the view really made for an extremely relaxed evening. This place is just great and I would be visiting again very soon!! A round of applause for the team working to make the experience so wonderful!!

Great place to have Himalayan cuisine. This place looks very basic from inside, but great place to have your meal in peace.
I tried Pan Fried Chicken Momos - Steam from one side and pan shallow fried from the other. They serve it with 3 chutnies.

And, I had Datchi Chicken - Tingmo with white cheesy chicken gravy. It was something new for me and I lived it.

Staff was very sweet and quick. Cost wise it's okay but worth after having such delicious food.
Love the ambience and the courteous staff. The food is authentic.

One of the few places that renders itself to conversation in Hauz khas village.

Must try: Chicken Shabalay, Non veg thakali set and the thukpas.

A good restraunt with good food and good service!
Nepalese people must try this retraunt. Experience was really good. Hoping to visit again soon!

Himalayan cuisine is not everyone’s cup of tea including me. I went in to the place looking at the gorgeous reviews. Little did I know it won’t suit my pallet. We ordered veg platter, datchi with bun & veggies and veg momos. Off the items in the plate, i liked platter the most, bun was nice but bland and the datchi - mix veg was served with white curry which was creamy and salted. Food was cooked n presented well. Proportions were big, decor was on point along with the pricing. Staff was friendly too.

It may look like your average neighborhood eating joint, but Lama Kitchen is anything but!

I wandered in with a friend on Saturday noon, and was immediately greeted by the friendly staff and incredible aroma made our taste buds jumping..
We ordered thukpa to go with the traditional thing and it was mind blowing... Potato pickle was another Chery on top of the cake.. we then ordered Datchi mixed veg which is one of the Bhutanese cusinie, it was entirely different and amazing in taste. By the end of the meal we were planning our next visit.
This place is perfect for groups or a casual date night. Or with some gossip friends..

Visited here a week back with my friends ordered jhol momos, thuka and nepali thali with ice tea.

One thing that is very bad here is staff is clue less and untrained.

By a lot of difficulty I placed my order. No suggestions or recommendations from person serving.

Jhol momos were very tasty but the plate they served in was unclean.

If hygience is compromised 1 star is deserved by Lama kitchen.

Ice tea after stirring the syrup was good. But my mood was already off because of untrained staff and uncleaned utensils.

Would never ever visit here again.

Check Managents Reply, how they take my review.
Rude management that is all, I would say.
Himalyan cuisine in monsoon season at Hauz Khas Village. #yummyinmytummy : Veg Thukpa and Veg Momos.
#reviews : Veg momos served with three different and spicy sauces. Thukpa was also good, rich and packed with vegetables. Decor and cuisine inspired by nepali and himalyan delicacies. Price is also fine. Delicious food. Authentic flavours. Most importantly the staff was polite and ready to help with a smile.
Please note that one of the staff Ms. Sumita was very helpful, she suggested and explained everything. She was so helpful and always with a smile.
Will surely visit again to try more.
https://www.instagram.com/foodstepsofficial
#follow #foodsteps

This small yet pretty cafe in hauz khas village famous for tibetian delicacies. It takes us into the small world of tibetians. The food here is amazing. They have a unique blend of food options. They give ‘aloo ka achar’ as complimentey which i must say tasted amazingly different. The most i’ll recommend here are momos which are so soft and jewy, chilli chicken and the brownie. Overall it has a great vibe with courteous staff and amazing food.

Well.. talking of the ambience i liked it. But the food was average. Although the quantity was good..slightly disappointed.they can sure improve the taste of thukpa.

Severely understaffed restaurant with below average food. The momos were without dipping sauce and the food came out lukewarm. Wouldn’t recommend!

Delicious momos! Try the veg momos in steam and fry versions with their white sauce mixed in the chilli sauces. Yum!
Datshi is great too, very authentic.
It's a little known decrypt place visited mostly by foreign travelers which makes it a nice calm and cozy place to go to on a good weather day.

Ordered for Nepali Thali & Jhol momos . Jhol momo was good . As the thali is concerned no where it's mentioned its unlimited for a person, even the server doesn't inform . The first refill of thali turns out to be totally different in terms of taste color consistency from the thali served earlier . Pork was just a tomato onion gravy which was not balanced and in the second it turned out to thicker balanced and spicy. Such issues with aloo&rai ka saag too. It was disappointing . Nepali thali menu said for curd it was also missing.
There's no power backup and ACs didn't worked for atleast 30min+ for that period of power cut .
Pocket friendly stop to enjoy the food

Is Majnu Ka Tilla to far from your place and you want to experience much better, cleaner, sanitised, more spacious cafe then you must go to Lama Kitchen. As it is an authentic Tibetian, Bhutani and Nepali Cuisine restaurant. They have a peaceful position Vibes when you enter the place.
Slow Tibetian traditional music is playing which will make you feel you are in some hills of Himalaya. They has soothing lights and elegant interior with all traditional paintings and show pieces.
Their menu is huge and have so many options to choose which actually confuses your mind what to eat and what to leave.

I tried few things and would like to recommend some authentic food which you must go and it if you a Chinese lover.

1) Pan fried chicken momos

2) Wai Wai noodles Salad

3) Thukpa

4) Ice Tea (Don't think it's the ordinary one)

5) Yomari (DESSERT)

6) Bhutani spl. Dish- Datchi Mushroom

This was disappointing. I went to this place when it was Yeti few years back and the food was great. Now it seems things are different.
Though the service staff were good and helpful and a saving grace, but the main star of any restaurant is the menu and food. The menu here was very confusing (again the good staff helped us with that) and food tasted old, and premade. A shame. Maybe it was a bad day. I'm giving 2 here just for the service staff.

Lama kitchen is one of the best place for nepalese - himalayan cuisine in town . It also has delectable tibetian and bhutanese dishes with different variants among starters , main course and sides !! The place is very family friendly and has a very sedate environment in the otherwise crowded hauz khas village .
I was plesantly surprised as i was greeted with a complementary aloo ka achaar !! It was overtly spicy and super yummy !! It surely one of the best dishes to start your meal !! Then i ordered a lemonade and lama veg platter . The lemonade was rightly acidic and sweetness was well balanced !! Then came the fabulously presented lama platter . It looked absoultely ethereal !! It had 4 different yet lip smacking elements. It had a rae wai wai bhej , aloo sadeko , tibetian bun and a chickpea delicacy of himalayn region !! All the elements were really unique and flavourful !! Speical mention goes to wai wai bhel and the bun !! They were truly one of a kind and really delicious !!
Then i ordered the dessert- freshly baked brownie . And believe me when they say fresh , it actually is !! It was very tender and soft !! Perfectly sweet and a divine ending to our meal !! Loved it to the core !!

We were so missing the mountains, and then a Freind recommended this amazing restaurant in hauz khas village.

The place is so calm and soothing with simple yet stunning interiors. This place will somewhat transport u to the cafes in Himalayan region, and we were finally here for our Himalayan food.

I had their mutton curry, chilli garlic mutton fried rice and deep fried Pork Shabalay.

Pork Shabalay which is a half moon looking friend pork patty. The inside of which was surprisingly juicy , but be careful don’t wet your clothes, they might just ooze gravy, and it’s steaming hot.

The mutton gravy was spicy , warm and tender, it would have been ideal with just steamed rice. Very nice gravy.

The mutton chilli garilic rice was sort of like a shack but this was could have been enjoyed all alone as well. There was a lot of meat in the rice as well, very good value for money.

They also offered dips with different spice levels. This place really made my evening a memorable one, and they even served us complementary brownies. The staff is Freindly and very polite. Would love to become regulars here, Please Keep up this spirit.

I recently discovered this place called lama kitchen in hauz khas village . It serves a wide variety of delicacies of nepalese and himalayan cuisine . The decor is very calm and inspired by himalayn culture . It transports you to the hills with their lim smacking food !!
My order was -
•sweet and sour lime soda
•veg friend momos
•chow chow noodles
•chilli cheese sauce with tibetian bun .
Soda came in a really tall glass and it was really well made . Perfect balance of sweet and sourness !!
Veg fried momos are a HIT !! So tender and juicy , i just couldnt have enough of these . They came with three traditional sauces which were really spicy and uplifted the flavour of momos to another level .
Chow chow noodles had lots of veggies and were pretty similar to halla noodels . They were nicely seasoned and looked gorgeous !!
At last cheese sauce with the bun was FANTASTIC !! It was something really unique and yummy . The bun was very different in both taste and texture and cheese sauce was mind blowing . Any cheese maniac will fall in love with this sauce ! Its a bhutanese delicacy which was out of the world !! Its a must have dish !!
Their service is really swift and good ! Waitors are happy to recommend and prices are reasonable !! So ditch pizza and pasta for once and try authentic himalayan- nepalese cuisine at lama kitchen .
The Intrepid Eater
What a shame, that this has become of Yeti. First off, they only have bottled water. Wastefulness aside. The cheesy curry was edible but the mushroom in bean paste was an inedible concoction of sweet (off brand) ketchupy syrup choked with corn starch. And the food came far too soon to have been prepared any more extensively. We ended up leaving hungry and going elsewhere to finish our meal.

My suggestion- eat anywhere else.

For an insight into the management, do check their response to my review in comments below.

One of my favourite places to dine at, Lama Kitchen is highly recommended. A cozy, intimate place with a friendly staff, it’s the perfect place for the Sunday brunch. The food is mouth watering, to say the very least. The portions are generous. The momos especially are to die for. It’s worth every penny.
