Pesto had more salt than a tongue can handle, waiter audacious enough to say "sir that's how pesto tastes", condescending and disrespectful. They messed the shake up too. Lasagne was good but if out of three orders rthings only one tastes good then even that loses its charm because of the overall frustration and disappointment of the experience.

This is probably one of the best places in Hauz khas. I tried the Pita dips and pasta arrabiata along with Apple and kiwi sour. The food and drink was good.

This place has the most awesome starters and finger food. Love the fish and chips. Have always liked the roof top ambience and the location with a view of the HKV back drop.

My first love in Haus khas village. This is a cozy place, with good food and great drinks. Especially love the nights they have live music. I reckon they recently went through renovations, looking forward to going back.

One of the first places I went to when I moved to New Delhi . The ambience is nice . There's love gigs that go on at times . It's like the place where u can walk in alone , grab a beer and just enjoy the live music .

As far as the American is concerned, this place is undeniably good but when the talks come to their Italian and Continental preparations, that is when TLR Café portrays its true potentials. They have a nicely designed seating area with well embellished decors and an operational bar that serves a variety of drinks. The staff and service out here is genial and is always open to any suggestions that you might have. Came to know about TLR by the help of Zomato and after reading some positive reviews about it, decided to check it out.

I had the following items here-

Vegetarina Mezze Platter

The Caj’un Burger

Cheese Garlic Bread

The platter was quite filling. The Burger could have been a little more spicy but tasted very fine as well and the garlic bread was also a hit.

For some appetizing foreign grubs, TLR is a great option to go ahead with.

FINAL-

FOOD- 4/5

SERVICE- 4.5/5

AMBIENCE AND DECORS- 4/5

VALUE FOR MONEY- 4/5

OVERALL- 4/5

With the help of an elegant ambience and foreign embellishments, TLR café is triumphant in delivering a pleasing look of an American Café. As it houses a fine variety of food items from the Café, Continental, American and Italian cuisine, it manages to attract an decent crowd of foreign cuisine lovers from various corners of the food. Talking about the food quality, this place despite having some obvious flaws in its preparations, manages to be a likeable one altogether. Was in Hauz Khas Village a few days ago and decided to give it a shot.

Ordered the following items-

Cheese and Mushrooms Crepes- Had loads of creamy cheese and tasted good.

Vegetarian Mezze Platter- The hummus was a bit unflavored, rest everything was fine.

The Caj’un Burger- Had a finely cooked grilled chicken fillet, tasted fine as well.

That was all that I had TLR and the experience was in no way a disheartening one.

If you are a lover of foreign delicacies, you should give TLR a try.

FINAL RATINGS-

FOOD- 3.5/5

SERVICE- 3.5/5

INTERIORS AND DECORS- 4/5

VALUE FOR MONEY- 3.5/5

ON THE WHOLE- 3.5/5

Great ambience. This is a nice, rooftop cafe in Hauz Khas. I went here a while back. The ambience is very nice and the staff is friendly. They have a large space and a very well done decor. They also have a nice rooftop.

The ambiance of this place is very nice. Had been there a while back. Went there with office colleagues on a weekend. The place was bustling with people. On the weekends it would make sense to reach early and reserve a nice place inside the restaurant. The staff was very friendly though the service was a little slow. They have a large space with nice decor. They also have a nice rooftop although we did not go there.

The food was very nice (we ordered only non-veg) and their menu has a lot of variety (both in food and drink).

Loved it!

PS: They had just one toilet and had a queue (especially towards late evening :) ) but it was very clean. I mention it here since a lot of us had to make multiple attempts to gain access.

Went there and had a great time. The food was appealing and very well served. The decor gives the feel of a cafe somewhere in england. Nicely managed and customer friendly service. The food was not only good in taste but was a treat for the eyes too. Must visit.

Had been here a while back with friends. The food was okayish. Nothing out of the ordinary. And the service wasn't great either. Ambience is good though!
And they did not even give us our bread basket which was complementary until we repeatedly asked for it!
Decent place.. can be better!

Great ambience. This is a nice, rooftop cafe in Hauz Khas. I went here a while back. The ambience is very nice and the staff is friendly. They have a large space and a very well done decor. They also have a nice rooftop.

Must try the chocolate pillows. Extremely savoury desert. We had spaghetti and pastas. The food was overall good but the chocolate pillows were excellent. We actually ordered them again!!!

Can go here for that nice, romantic feel and a different interesting decor. The food is overall average. Must try chocolate pillows (okay, I know I have written this thrice, but they were so good!!!!)

I was here a very long long time ago when it initially opened in hkv n I really loved d fact that this was d only bar with open terrace !!! Enjoyed every bit of my time with frens at that time! Dunno if its still the same so will hv to revisit fr further reviews!!!

To be honest, I haven't visited TLR recently, and the quality might have improved. From my experience, the food isn't as good as it is made out to be. The prices are quite high, but that is the case with most of the places in HkV, so not knit-picking about the same. What irked me is the fact that the quality and quantity of the food served does not live up to the mark. I hope that they've improved over the past few months, though.

DO NOT visit this place. I witnessed the owner/manager of this resturant (a middle aged lady) assault one of her employees (a young respectable waiter) in a fit of rage. We walked out, shocked at such mis-treatment of an employee. It's a shocking human right violation...and just very sad to see. Nothing can be enjoyable with such a woman in charge...let alone a meal:-(
Stay away...and hopefully they'll understand that they can have their customers back when they learn to treat their employees well.
Himanshi Gogia
Well, its overly priced according to me, though the pasta tasted yummy. I love the set up there and everything is very well organised and nicely brought together :)

Lively atmosphere, good food and bright ambience...it's the perfect place for chilling out with your favourite people. The food is great, service is okay too. The place also offers a lot of photo opportunities ;)

Went there long back.

Accessibility : Start looking for parking spots right after the Jagannath temple and park in the first vacant spot available. Don't wait. Especially during weekends.

Ambience and Service: Found the service to be slow and the music too loud.

Food : Cocktails were good and food was all right.

Went here a while back on a Sunday afternoon & had my first official Black Russian (drink ;) )
Tasted very smooth & I loved the whole concoction - especially given the coffee angle.
Had the smoked salmon & dill salad which was savoury but not memorable.

More than the food, you'll be mesmerized by the ambience here. Totally laid back, the place has a very retro feel to it. Plus, you're in for a treat on occasions when there is live music.

Overall, lovely place to laze around.

I visited TLR when it was still new. In fact the entire buzz about Hauz Khas Village was created sometime after we visited.. till then it was still a quaint little escape from the hustle and bustle of Delhi. Now it is a major hub of activity and has lost half its old charm. Nevertheless, I think TLR was good then and so it is even now.

The Living Room’s specialty lies in its very retro, very hip feel. The place has been done up with a careful ease – something I find missing at most restaurants. They’re either too laidback or else jumping at you for attention. However TLR instantly brightens you up while at the same time making you all relaxed and thoughtful. The walls are all bright and sunny, lined with well stocked racks of the best classics and contemporary books for readers to pore over. You could also pick up one of the numerous board games that were kept stacked in a corner. There was also a conspicuous peculiarity I observed - a ‘showerhead’ serves as the faucet in the washroom. It was quite chic.

They had food and alcohol from around the world on the elaborate menu. We ordered a lot of starters and were full by the time we got to flipping through the main course section, so we conveniently skipped out on that one. When it came to paying up, it cost us quite a bomb, given that we were only 6-7 people. But I guess I'll still visit again, because I enjoyed the experience.

I have totally loved this place, it's a typical filmy place where you can enjoy with some good live music occasionally, the drinks collection is good and the food is also pretty good... the ambiance is well set and you can sit anywhere amongst a crowded place, still feel pretty secluded and can have a private conversation and good time...
Sasha Chhetri
Not my scene, if you've been following me on Zomato, I prefer my food experiences to be more restaurant like and my bars to be a little more bar like. This is somewhere in the middle with live music thrown in. Having said that its a must try for those bar hopping in Hkv, expat scouting, + just to support one of the first bars that made HKV 'cool' ;)

The Living room cafe. its a cool place there,s always some live music scene at this place that why i love to visit this place very often but from quite some time no live music. apart from that they serve good food, ambiance is nice to spend evening with some drinks.

One of oldest and best place in village which still serves the best food in the area ,as the name suggests living room ,the ambience is very simple but done in a very elegant way , perfect place to hangout with friends for a quite evening and have a nice conversation

Brilliant ambience for a quiet evening in the seldom peaceful HZV. Personal recommendation - Cucumber Ice Tea. The availability of your choice of beverage might be a dissappointment though.

Had heard a lot about this place especially for its decor , which was quite striking. The food was average and the drinks were fine. The biggest plus was the outdoor terrace seating especially in the winter and the calm, pleasant ambience.
Vikram Chanda
Greeted by a slumbering man on a couch (for over an hour) did take the wind out of the entrance. Haven't had such a visual since.... Well I guess ever. But the casual comfy feel did make up for the unexpected beginning.
The flavoured punches looked promising - and I'd have tried them but without a sampler I was a bit hesitant.
Shepherds pie was super as was the polenta chicken.

Super music specially for the "motherfunk" event.
Service was prompt and pleasant.

So overall a good change from the usual that could've been even better had the prices been unlike a 5 star restaurant.

A nice place, love its terrace seating in the winter months. Been here so many times that I can't recall. Mostly because of the submerging of Elma's into TLR. Can't think about missing out on Elma's Red velvet cake or Chocolate Moist Cake to end my meals when in HKV. No matter where we eat, we make it a point to come here.

A few things I don't like about this place would be firstly its slow service and secondly its coffee. The service is really slow, at times we have to recheck on on order to make sure that they got it right. secondly, being a coffee lover I make sure I try out at least two coffees at a place before I judge it. while their hot coffee selection is good, their cold coffee is definitely one of the worst you can get. So, steer clear of cold coffee and go for safer bet- the shakes. Food & the quality is nice though.

Best for weekends with beer and live music or dj mixing music in front of you. Stag entry is difficult on weekends
Food is ok ok. Crowd is good.
Shantanu Basrur
Great ambience and music, excellent food, and an all-round go-to for a lazy Sunday afternoon bite and beer. The pizzas here are particularly good, and you can wrap things up with a decadent dessert from Elma's. Personal favourite - their Red Velvet Cake! It's a tad bit on the pricey side, but worth every penny.

I was being told about this place by a friend. The decor clearly justifies its name, The Living Room. It has very homely couches and bookshelves. The interiors and ambiance is pretty inviting.

You can go here for drinks with your friends. The finger food served here is good too.

Somehow, it is not a very great place. You can keep this as an alternative!

We ordered onion rings, stirred vegetables and garlic breads to go with our drinks. They were okay, if not good.

The staff here is not very friendly and the service is too slow.
Somya Suresh
Not a bad place to have a quick bite. Went in here with friends on a hit April afternoon. I don't quite think the cramped space was too much fun in the night whenever I visited. But the food is quite delicious and mouth savouring. I wouldn't say it's ine of the best places to go in hkv, given the endless options. But if you think you want to have a quick casual brunch, then it's a nod foe sure!
The interiors are done up with quite thought and gives the feel of a house converted with chairs and tables. The staircase in between with a huge chandelier, placed aptly to break the monotony of orange walls.
Maya Ramesh
Beautiful decor, brilliant place. Love the service! This place has that quaint, vintage appeal to it, which allows you to escape everything for a while! :)

I have been to this one during Winters.. The terrace dining is best during afternoon in Winters!!! Service is gud and food is also gud...

Considering Elma's moved to the location and in collaboration with TLR, i was expecting it to be great. No doubt on the ambiance, it definitely looks good, spacious.

But honestly, food is a thorough disappointment. I went there for lunch with my 2 colleagues and we ordered a Cajun burger, Sausage Roll and a Italian job sandwich.

The burger was hopeless with the chicken not cooked well and rather than being juicy it was hard. The fries were good but the overall palette looked disappointing. The sausage roll which was described as a 'Mother of sausages' was actually served in a small side plate so we can imagine how big it was.

The Italian job sandwich was served nicely, looked good but there was too much of pesto/basil in it which made my colleague feel a little nauseous.

The waiters are slow and i personally think they need to hire more staff since there is no one whom we can complain to or ask for more water or even for cutlery which wasn't provided while laying the table. These things are very basic and need to be attended.

And in the end you don't feel like paying the 'over expensive' bill which wasn't even worth it.

But thank god, Elma's has maintained its standards.
But from my end no recommendation and i am definitely not visiting again.

Costly. Not worth the ambience.

TLR is a great cafe situated in hauz khas village. The best thing I like about them is the events they organize, the music, and amazing crowd that gathers there.
Nominally priced, yet exhilarating experience. You can go and try out non veg items, with a couple of beers. The crowd, music and dance, along with the lighting effects ensure that you'll have a relaxing evening with friends.
The Expat Perspective
I love TLR. The drinks are quite expensive, but the ambiance is great. They do tend to close randomly, so maybe don't plan a big event here (as I did), but it's fun to stop by when they're open.
Archisman Misra
Absolutely horrible. Only 3-4 waiters for 30 tables in Christmas Rush. How can a restaurant be so disorganized? Nobody has the time to listen to you, no one answers your queries. No waiting system, supposedly the way to get a table is pretending to know the cashier. Masterclass restaurant truly.
Anurag
What have you done TLR after renovations.. the place is so dull now... Please do some crowdpulling... It's so quiet now.. I didn't even bothered checking ur menu
Mini Mathur
This was an ok place to hang out - nice drinks but impossible to get the attention of their staff. And why is it shut for so long?!
Addy
TLR is nice.

Tragically the food is boring, they do however have the best french fires in town. The drinks are overpriced and the overworked waiters are hard to catch.

Again its mostly a wannabe hipster crowd, best time to go is the evening before sunset on a winter day when you can enjoy a nice joint and a drink on the terrace. Leave before the fedora wearing kajaled up hippies/hipsters invade the place and get noisy.

Sometimes they do have great artists performing there, so that is something to go for since the food is bad.

I was introduced to TLR by one of my colleague and since then I have been going there every now and then (sometimes even alone). I still cherish my old good times spent on TLR's terrace, lying down on a bean bag as if I was in my own living room. If you are fond of drinking a Trappist beer like Chimay, TLR is one of the few places in India where you will get it. Vegetarian Pasta is way too delicious and taste different than the usual Punjabi style Pastas available in Delhi. Some people might complaint about the space crunch, but it could be excused on the account that entire Hauz Khas Village has become congested in today's time. Live band (sometimes) is good and service (often) is poor. Still TLR is one of the safest place in Delhi for girls to chillax and will remain close to heart :)

About 2 years back I had heard a lot about this place from the Time Out Delhi editorial team. They had written a great review about the restaurant and used to go gaga about its burger. So TLR was always on my to-do list.

Now here is my experience at TLR. The first time I went to TLR was with a somewhat large group of friends. It was probably the first time I had tasted a bruschetta, and let me tell you, it was incredible! I could actually taste each and every ingredient. The bruschettas at TLR have never disappointed me since!

I love the quirky names they have for the dishes listed on the menu. The porn cuffs are crunchy and yummy and their Hari om pollo is simply delectable. They don't have a chicken lasagne so we ordered the lamb lasagne and it was heavenly!

Honestly I've loved almost everything that I've tried here. TLR is not your regular watering hole but you can surely have a nice time with friends or all by yourself with a book!

I was here the other night when it was raining cats and dogs. The interiors looked a little tired and orange is just gaudy. I know what they tried to do but they kinda failed.

Anyway we ordered the two starters that have hummus and pita since me and my friends have lived in the middle east and are on a quest to find the best hummus in town.

It was a loser. Tasted rancid for some reason and the oil was probably not original olive oil, just bad. And the lamb for the second starter, in fact the portion of both, are so small and made to serve one person, i wonder why they are even in the list of starters!

Anyway we had a drink each and the green goblin is horrible by the way its like they changes the colour of beer to green and thats it. I don't think ill visit anytime soon.

Yesterday I went to TLR to have the feel of Easter in HKV and as usual the lane is jam packed with glitz and glamor. I really admire this place for lots of reason, one of them is of-course the crowd.

The food and drinks is far better then the hyped cafe in HKV, won't name here. I have tried their penne pasta along with cosmopolitan, really good. Then we tried their the eggplant dish named as aubergine parmigiana with blue cheese, it was mind blowing, and these are served with hot garlic bread, nice combination.

Later on this evening they turned off the lights and converted this place to discotheque, complete transformation.

Would definitely recommend this place to everyone as it has lot of things to offer.
Sonal Kwatra Paladini
After places like Bistro and Calipso were closed, TLR came along and offered a great evening experience. Over the years I have seen this place go through many changes, but I will still remember my good times on TLR's terrace, lying down on one of the bean bags and looking at the stars - enjoying the peace which doesn't exist anymore in Hauz Khas Village. For the first few years since its inception, I never saw any "shady" crowd (but things have now changed) and it was the safest place in Delhi for girls to chill and relax, actually it still is.

I have tried many things from their menu and my favorite starters are still "bubba's shrimp", garlic chicken, poppey's prawn skewers and sea biscuits. Their cheesy parcel used to be very good. Good entree items are stuffed pollo, pollo cilantro, sea fruit pasta. Their BURGERS ARE GREAT. For dessert, their chocolate pillows are super.

More than the food, I go to TLR for a great vibe, to catch gigs of obscure artists, to enjoy their happy hours on beer and just to put my hair down and enjoy.

The living room cafe gives you a feeling that you are in your living room...
How:
less space, dim lights, cosy feeling...

Been there a couple of times...comfortable, nice crowd(looks intellectual)..
Service: manager is friendly , the staff is okay..
Food: great starters, not so great main course..
Ambience: already described..
Price: expensive if gone during non-happy hours..

Verdict: go there to catch up with a gang over evening drinks or if you want to smoke up on the terrace and close your eyes..( the noise might not let you..)..
Sumit Gulati
I have visited this cafe twice in the last 6-8 months.

What is Excellent?
- Food, specially the tit bits, was excellent. Special mention to Bubba's shrimp, Garlic Chicken, alu bites and mushroom parcels (the best!!!)
- Drinks were quite affordable, specially with the happy hours or some special vodka promotion that was going on.

What is Good?
- Music was excellent the first time around. In fact, the music was the sole reason we went back the 2nd time in a very short time. But this time, we got so fed up of the weird American Experimental band (or a similar name) by their 3rd or 4th song. We eventually just finished our meal quickly and left...just couldn't stand what these guys were playing in the name of music (This was a common view on our table of 4-5 people).
- Ambience is quite cozy...literally like your living room. There are some tables better than others which you should grab as soon as you can!

What's Not So Good
- Main course was ordinary, nothing to write about.
- I found the Service to be quite inconsistent. The waiters seem very confused with the special offers, even their assigned tables.

In the end, I thought the place was really good, if it were not for the terrible music (the 2nd time). Will I go back? Yes, but with my fingers crossed for some good music!
Rohan
Went here a couple of times since the past 2 months, the only comfortable place in HKV where nothing seems to be in a rush, the music is nice, not really my type but the terrace is awesome awesome awesome, cozy and warm with the "angethi's" the food is great, if you're lucky they have some kickass "Chef's Special" the lachedar prawns & special Fries starred only for a week :( Im guessing a new menu is on its way or maybe a new chef is on board or something, the nachos are really nice and very different, very very well made cocktails all the time(Long island ice tea is 6/5 for me). if the staff gets a bit more crisp and attentive i'd give it a 5, coming back in april to delhi hope things are even better coz im gonna be here for 2 years
Akshay Khandelwal
I used to be here every other day.. too bad a bar opened up just below it.
Have a lot of TLR memories, but the new bar is my new love.

The Living Room Cafe has been around for quite a while now and it still hasn't lost its charm.

I still visit TLR everytime I go to Hauz Khas village. There are number of cafes and restaurants that have eopned in Hauz Khas village now but I still seem to be drawn to TLR, I guess I stick with the old stuff and hence I love this place.

It's got a cool feel to it, the alcohol is not overly priced and the food is pretty good...great actually.

TLR still tops my list of one of the coolest places to hangout in Hauz Khas village.

Great place to hang out with friends for a laid back and relaxing brunch ...the food's awesome....the chicken burger is absolutely delectable....tad bit overpriced...but still the great ambience makes up for it

i wouldnt deny the fact that i had heard a lot about this place...!!! wat was my fault..that i was looking frward to a sunday brunch in hauz khas village and this place was on top of my mind...!!! such a dampner it turned out to be...not only was the food BAD, which being an understatement..they charge u mercilessly for the turd that they serve you..!! well if that wasnt enoug...they also presented me complimentary food poisoning by their stale mumbo jumbo Prawns!!! UGH..hate this place...AVoiD it at all cost like a plague :/

a disgruntled foodie :(

----- 07 Jan, 2013 -----

Avoid this place like a plague..not only they do not live up to the expectation, charge u mercilessly and the food is not only shitty but also gave me food poisioning!!! AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!

TLR is the best place to be when one is in Hauz Khas Village and looking for a place to party. This place comes to you with different music genre everyday and is jam-packed on the weekends. We Discovered this place last winters and make way to this place every now and then, especially when our favorite DJ Suhrid Manchanda is playing and trust me he has really got a great music sense and knows his audience well.
Ashesh Ambasta
The ambience of the place is as incredible as the french fries. That said, their audio system needs a serious revamp. There's not much place here and on weekends, the place is jam packed. But then, if that is a problem, it also becomes what makes the place what it is. That's probably how it's meant to be.

I'll give the place a 4/5 just because of the vibe. Another point is that their drinks need a serious looking into - the Rum Punch was pretty ordinary and I had to get myself a beer to get rid of the taste.
Shreiya
You know those days where all you want to do is sit, eat some good food, have a glass of Beer in hand and just listen to music like its being played just for you.
Those days come more often than once and you find yourself lounging about in TLR.

Almost every place in Delhi serves their own signature burger. But its where you eat the right one is what really matters. Their 'The Chicken Burger' became my own favourite. And with live performances happening almost every night, you fall in love with every couch on every floor. Not to mention the eerie sense of comfort that reminds you of the kind in your own living room but with comforts like the kind only TLR can provide you with.

TLR is like a getaway. It takes you into a different world.

I am a seasoned hardened singer and film maker from Dehradun, popularly known as Tom Jones of India. Started my career from Super-Club Ashoka Hotel Delhi and have been performing in hundreds of top places in the country like Nineteen hundred Taj,Mumbia,Redchilly Goa, 9th Golden Peacock Film fest in Goa.etc. I am not telling you all this not to show how good am I but simply trying to establish my credibility as as restaurant hopper who knows what he is talking about.
Sometime Back I got in touch with my old buddies Amit Sehgal and Harsh Pratap of RSJ Magzine and decided to meet at the T.L.S. Hauz Khas. Boy! That was great, the music was excellent food was good right crowd. I recommend must go place in Delhi.

Hipsters' paradise! :P

Always a good place to meet creative and alternative new people. Don't feel awkward to go unto a stranger and conversing.. its the Living Room for crying out loud!
Sourabh Priyadarshi
Worst cafe in delhi. Discovered worms in their rocket leave salad. On top of that the owner had no explanation and was largely unapologetic not even bothering to waive off our bill. They need to be sued.
Sharmistha
Needs to be blacklisted, found wriggling worms in their rocket leave salad..yeww!!
Went there last evening with friends and after trekking to the top floor and without any assistance from the staff on where we could sit, settled down. This was my first time at the TLR and had great expectations from the place. It took an effort to explain to the waitor our choice of drinks, as one of my friends asked if they had a breezer, he replied they had pasta and pizza!! Inattentive staff who didn't serve us water, didnt open the beer bottle, didn't give us cutlery would still have been tolerable had we not discovered wriggling worms in our rocket leave salad!! added to this the complete nonchalant atttitude of the manager who said 'sorry human mistake' and didnt want to share the owner's contact number was a spoiler.
After managing to extract the owners number and giving him a call, we got to hear " these things happen madam, think of it as organic food and then finally we'll not charge you for the salad', explained the behavior of the manager. Why would he bother if his boss didn't? Anyways there ended our evening and we went in search of another place to have dinner.
Action requested from TLRC: remove salads from their menu, as they are not equipped to clean the leaves properly nor care!!

Oh god give me good food or take away my taste buds and while you are on to this also try telling the restaurant owners in Delhi that just creating a cool place or designing a funky menu is not all it takes to have a nice eating joint , it actually what you actually give people to eat that makes a good or an average restaurant .

Had gone to The TLR Cafe for a early Rakhi dinner with my sister . Spread over 3 levels they have successfully recreated the casual ambiance of a family living room . Being a smokers I sat on the open terrace which was also quite comfy but the furniture there had a slightly worn out feel .

We started by me ordering a ginger fizz and my sister some kiwi mocktail . She was quite happy with her drink however my drink was not really cold so I requested fro some Ice , a request which despite some reminders remained unfulfilled till the end of our visit . Two sets of knifes and forks were set on our table however there was only one plate so again another request was made and like the earlier one was destined to remain unfulfilled for the duration of our visit forcing me to eat out of service dishes .

We ordered a portion of the Pil Pil Prawns accompanied by a side of onion rings. The coating/batter on the rings was of uneven consistency with the onions peeping out and overcooked at many places . This was accompanied by one of the most insipid mint sauce i have ever tasted . But the real disaster was the prawns , I guess I have figured out why most places in Delhi can not do there prawns right , I think most of the outlets use frozen prawns as fresh produce is not readily available in Delhi , no worries , even frozen prawns can taste ood , but it appears that instead of thawing the prawns before cooking them so that they regain there original texture the cooks , as a quick fix solution flash fry the prawns while still semi frozen , resulting in a very rubbery finish to the cooked product . Well that is my opinion only could be something totally different too . Back to the food , both the dishes lacked a nice presentation an were at best only 3 out of 5 on taste front too . So maybe i will go back here like I will to most other restaurants in HKV only when i hav to down some beers with my friends and are looking for a change of location , but deffenetly not for food or service .

Enjoy

TLR Cafe definitely has an interesting menu that would entice you to over-order however, they need to work on their dishes to make them better. Beyond some missing ingredient, TLR holds a lot of potential.

Staff is friendly, decor is good and the over all ambience/vibe is fun. It is the cave for all up and coming artists, a fun place to be.

Pass on the Sangria.
The caprese salad was alright.
The hummus bin lahem (hummus with lamb chunks) was alright.
The cheesy parcels are also alright, a little oily. The sauce with the cheesy parcel was good.

A little improvisation on the dishes would make TLR good from just alright.

I have been to T.L.R. cafe a couple of times. My friends and I had delicious Sea biscuits - thai style fish cakes, cannelloni and stuffed Pollo. The fish cakes were really tasty but the chicken was not so tender. However, everything was delicious, the place is vibrant and colourful and the music is always good. Their terrace is the place to be when the weather is pleasant :)

Cafe TLR with its amazing interiors is a fascination. It exhudes warmth. The cafe can keep the most curious busy with all the interesting tit bits on their walls, in their bathroom, hanging from the roof, placed on corners, et al.
From the food point of view, the dishes are good but not out of the world. I highly recommend their hazelnut cappuchino amongst hot drinks. They have happy hours on most days. They also have events every other day which keeps things very interesting for the regulars. Their kind of music is unique and has this set fan following. I also found this place romantic in its interiors. It is a beautiful place for a date over a cup of coffee too!

The living room is a typical hauz khas village joint with slightly dingy seating spaces as the bungalow is converted to a restaurant with torn old couches and some common bookshelf material.

We ordered pasta in pesto and some soup alongwith it which turned out to be absolutley sour. The drinks ordered were Mojito and Cranberry based another one, they turned out to be nice. One of the sofas happened to be little wet so we had to change the place where we were seated. Despite all these shortcomings, I still would give 3 to the place owing to the location, some homely feeling, chilled out environment and average drinks.

TLR is an amazing artsy place to hang out with your friends. The music is definitely its USP. The ambience is very laid back and the furniture has a touch of art infused into it. It's vibrant in the day and dimly lit at night. The food is delicious and every second Sunday has a pub quiz.

I went to this place before reading any reviews, more of a walking-with-friends-discovery. An unbiased perception and reactions of T.L.R cafe are described. Nonetheless, it is quite aligned with the earlier reviews which are "mixed". Firstly ambience is definitely impressive and presents instantly an urban feel. We went during lunch time and ordered cheesy parcel as starters; shroom penne, di napoli panini, vegen burger, basil pesto. Overall the food was good. Panini, shroom pasta was really nice. Basil pesto, no please it had quite inappropriate ratio of pesto and pasta. None of us liked it.
Time for dessert. We ordered with quite many hopes and except Choco Souffle, many other were not as advertised. Formaggio frutte which is supposed to be nice seasonal fruits combination with cream and cheese, turned out to be a few slices of apple, pineapple and MC.VITTIE biscuits! unbelievable. We refused to take it and good that the management did not argue. I might go there again to try some coffee as it is a good place to chill-out.

Went to TLR cafe in the evening, the staff was polite and the ambience was comfortable and very urban. The paintings added to the 'living room effect'. Perfect place to hangout with friends, as the staff is not nosy and you get your space. Vegetarian food offering is limited, but sumptuos, tried the veg burger, shroom penne and cheesy parcel. all were good, nothing out of the world though.

Went there this Saturday and man the food is mightily overpriced man!!! When I say overpriced, I really mean overpriced - 25% of our bill was nothing but taxes, the drinks were pathetic. i was recommended by a friend, whose recommendations am going 2 ignore now. Still all the 150+ smoothies tasted as if they were various concoctions of gaane ka n maushabi ka jiuce. Simply crap, the fish and chips were fine, the portions of the other dishes were far too tiny and trust me, the best part were the french fries, that's it! I left there as a disgruntled customer, seriously disgruntled, the servers were not very well informed about the food and none of us could explain to us why we were charged 4 different types of taxes. Damn them man!!!

I see that most of the reviews for this place are quite old and am sure do need to be updated. Having heard quite a lot about this place, which I am guessing now was from people who had visited this place a long long time back, I decided to give it a try along with my wife a friend.
Not having made a booking, we were taken for a tour of the restaurant and climbed floors in a futile attempt to find a place. But the waiter was courteous enough to offer us a table that was booked for 3 hours hence.
But that's where the "amazing artsy" (no offense to anyone) experience ended. We really didn't get the whole concept and having skeletons bathing and dancing in psychedelic colored blood projected on the walls all around us while we ate. The "WOW" music also seemed to be on mute as someone obviously forgot to switch it on.
The service was rather quick for the food to have been fresh and it was almost as though they wanted to eat and leave as soon as possible. The pasta we ordered was really dry and cumbersome to eat, even the lemonade we ordered failed to wash it down. The Big 'UN which was supposed to a large mutton burger was disappointing in taste and size. The only good part about it were the fries.
Overall the place was quite a letdown and will surely not recommend it to any one else.

I've been to the living room cafe twice. Quite liked the ambience. The food is pretty good. Orange walls n hundreds of things hanging on 'em. Nice place to enjoy good music with friends .

The place was like WOW, really loved the ambiance. I wanted to attend the PUB QUIZ but the tables were reserved. Anyways got a place on the first floor, the food was a little expensive. Drinks were bad, service was slow, still I would like to visit again due to its overall appeal !!!

The first floor has a few tables and has live music acts on Wednesdays and/or Saturdays. (The best way to keep abreast of events here is via the restaurant's Facebook page, or by calling them.) The second floor is all tables and vintage furniture; it's almost like a non-kitschy version of Mocha. Then there's a terrace right up top, with a view of the smog and the huddle of Hauz Khas flats. Occasionally, a plane flies by.
We sat down to dinner in the middle of the action on a Wednesday "free jam" night. For all the ruckus of music and laughter, the service was always acceptable. We started with a beer and wanted one of their exotic-sounding smoothies, but the latter seem to be unavailable on nights when liquor is being served. An order of fried calamari (served with a slightly spicy sauce, Rs 260) went terrifically with the beer, and the classic bruschetta (Rs 130) was tasty if not authentic.
TLR's menu is long, split into pastas, main courses, "breads", salads, burgers and so on. We settled on fish and chips (Rs 450) and a kingfish steak (Rs 500). The fish and chips were lightly fried, non-greasy and very munchable, served traditionally with pea-mash and mayo. The kingfish steak was very well-seasoned with herbs and would have been delicious had the fish itself been fresher. It was served with cubed potatoes, veggies and linguini.
What was very good was the coffee - we tried an espresso and a cafe mocha (Rs 40 and Rs 90). A hot chocolate souffle (Rs 160) was a run-of-the-mill melting chocolate, but the crepe orangina (Rs 140) was definitely unusual. Vanilla ice cream and some sort of fresh orange sauce is wrapped up in a large, thin crepe. It's not very cohesive, but it tastes exactly like Orangina, the soft drink with orange pulp that has its origins in France. It's unusual, but somehow, not out of place.

This is an amazing artsy place to hang out with your friends. The ambience is very laid back and the furniture has a touch of art infused into them. Even their washroom is worth checking out!

The food is amazing. The french fries in a superb green chutney are one the best I have had. The bruschettas are fresh and delicious. Their mocktails are impressive too. There are some quirky dishes on the menu, but the desserts rule here. You must try their Lemon Cheescake. It really is out of this world!

All in all a great place to talk to your friends for hours & hours and the place also plays some really good music too.

Bloody Indian should not be the name of a drink. These guys should start respecting the fact of being an Indian.

This place is UNBELIEVABLE.
Firstly, a very few of its kind exist in Delhi. Though it isn't located in a very prime location, it gathers the crowd of the ENTIRE SOUTH DELHI. So, one suggestion would be to make a reservation before you go there.
The music is its USP. It magnifies the ambience. On my best friend's birthday they were sweet enough to play 'Happy Birthday' while I sang =) The staff gifted us with champagne, ON THE HOUSE. You are showered with amazing hospitality.
Its beautifully done up. Vibrant in the day and dimly lit at night.
The food is delicious. Worth every penny you pay. People claim that it is over priced, however in my opinion I think it's very decent.
Thank you so much for the amazing evening TLR.
Will be back, again and again.

Hi Guys,

Sorry to be a spoil sport here, among such great reviews for this place.
However I must warn you against burning your money on this one.

The service is PATHETIC. Among 3 people, we ordered about 7 dishes. 3 starters and 3 main course along with drinks. All the food was messed up, wrong dishes served cold, wrong drinks which no one even ordered on our table.

On top of it we were charged for everything.

The A/C's didn't work, It was stuffy and Loud.

In the name of Live Music, there were amateur bands crooning away to glory, it was plain NOISE and not music.

When we asked for the bill, it was incorrect. we requested for the correction, the waiter took it back and after 15minutes came back with the same bill saying he has corrected it.

Also, among 3 people, we ended up getting billed for 5K!!!

NOT WORTH IT!!!

The look and feel of the place as you enter might charm you but these guys are crooks and serve bad food and tiny portions.

Will NEVER recommend it to anyone

Awesome food! Definitely worth a visit. Try the Shrimp in the specials section.

An Awesome place to handout and chill with Friends if you have lot of moolah to spend. Food was quite nice and so were drinks - the best part however was the live music and the crowd singing and enjoying. You will find lot of expats there especially on a sat night. It's a must try for once!
For people conscious about the cost we paid around 4k for 2 couples with no alcoholic drinks :)

All dude and dudettes!! This is one amazing place! Very different and has an interesting ambiance. Food is tasty, I had mushroom penne and really recommend that. The location is good, the decor inside is very comfortable and artistic. Great place to go!

Amazing food! I went there yesterday for an early dinner and had the Shroom Penne pasta - clearly one of the best I have ever had. The chicken soup was also great. The place has great ambience and very good service. In good weather you can also opt to sit outside on the balcony... The only disappointment was the "Green Goblin" drink I had - I would recommend you to never have it :) Otherwise this is one of the best places in South delhi (definitely the best in Hauz Khas village). I think you guys should increase the rating for The Living Room (TLR!)
