Review Ashok Meat Wala - New Delhi

Ankit Aggarwal
I was completely unaware about this place. Thanks to my friend who showed me this. One of the best place for non veg curry lovers. They only serve 2 dishes, one mutton gravy and another chicken gravy. Although the gravy is same for both as we tried both of them. Loved the taste of Desi ghee in gravy. Rotis were quite small in size. But can't complaint anything about the food. Keep one thing in mind before visiting, to keep cash in your pocket, as they dont accept any mode of online payments. Owner is kind enough to provide extra gravy on request. Not much place to sit and eat there, you have to wait atheist 20-25 mins to get table. However, if you wish to eat in your vehicle you get the food in less than a min.

If you are a meat lover then you should visit this place.. meat cooked in Desi ghee and a yummy taste. A bit expensive as they give 2 pieces either of chicken or meat for 300 rs and 4 pieces for 500 rs.

I had mutton brra and mutton korma with roti. Mutton barra was awesome in starter, and korma was about to manage its level. Good environment for outing with family ☺️
Mehak Talwar
Heaven for all the meat lovers with all the preparation with Desi ghee . A must visit place to enjoy non veg food

Nice ambience..nice Butter roti ...Nuce meat gravy but pieces are lil bit less cooked... but total food is good..
Anish Dewani
The taste was overall good but it needs to improve on the crockery and cutlery with passage of time. The mutton korma with Tandoori roti was really tasty but I would say I have had better before. It is definitely a place to have once or whenever you are drunk and with friends.
Sumit Singhal
Taste is great. I had their signature dish which is mutton gravy and it was really good. This is one small eatery that had been successfully running since several years now where many others open and shut every other day, I hope they can improve the ambience a little bit.
Ashish Gupta
If you love to have that slowly cooked, tender mutton pcs with crispy and flaky rotis, this is the place....though on oily side but mouth would burst with flavours...loved every bit

Reliable place for best quality fresh meat dishes
Utkarsh Makkar
Significant decrease in quality lately. The quality of mutton is not upto the mark.
Utkarsh Makkar
Usually the food here had been good and that’s how it earned its name. Lately the quality has gone down significantly. The meat was inedible and can’t be broken. Not going to order anymore!
Leena Sen
Taste is no where close to the original Sadar bazaar outlet. Ordered with such excitement. But it was totally disappointing.

I have been visiting this place for almost 2 years by now.
Their taste and portion of the dish is still the same.
If you are a mutton fan, then you must try their mutton korma. Their items are prepared in pure GHEE, this is what they claim. Half plate serves 1 and there would be 2 piece of mutton/chicken.
The size of breads is way small but it's completely okay.
They have recently renovated this place and hence it looks a bit fancy.
Anyone visiting here soon ??
Kushan Chaudhary
Best mutton korma...right on top with the likes of karims' and other famous restaurant in case of mutton. Must try mutton korma roti also gud

Karan
Worst food, meal is uncooked worst food ever had . The mutton was literally uncooked. Even the owner talked bluntly like he is feeding us for free.
Nitin
I ordered chicken korma which was nothing but chicken pieces served meat gravy..
Nothing special ..They claim they use Desi ghee but i can bet that it was Vanaspati not desi Ghee..
Though the gravy color is dark brownish ..
Just average taste ..I liked the Rotis small crisp and made of whole wheat not maida..
I was charged 230 for just a small plate of chicken(only 1.5 piece)
Taste - 2.5
Service - 3(Quick)
Value for money - 2
Overall - 2.5
I am sure my home cooked Chicken is much much better than what i got over here ..
Prêët Châwlã
This outlet is neat clean and serves quality food
Meat is really tasty but quantity of ghee is too much
Ghee overloads the items they serve but taste is best
Meat with lacha parantha really very tasty
Harshit Malik
I've heard alot about Ashok Meat Dhaba, and today i happened to visit them.
We order Mutton Korma and I must admit that i was a little disappointed with the quantity they provided.
Moreover, the taste could've been a little better though i was satisfied with it.
We had plain tandoori roti with it, they are small in size but were excellent in taste.
Overall- 3.5/5

Food-4/5
Service-5/5
Ambience-4/5
Varun Arora
This outlet of theirs serves better food and is cleaner and provides a good seating too as compared to the Sadar bazar wala..
Have their mutton korma, chicken seekh labadar
With their typical dhania wali rotis, heaven for a food lover..
But be a miser on the gravy as they charge u for that too.
But the thick Desi ghee preparation is just out of this world.if they can modernize this place and add a little variety this place can go places..
But might loose its charm..
Some things are well off the way they are..
Arun Bansal
I use to visit this place very often sometime ago but then there were very few who offered this kind of taste but now a days u can get much better options and much better quality of food.
Their most hot selling item is mutton korma which basically bones of mutton with no flesh to eat and super spicy gravy which will num your taste buds and you won't feel anything but chilli. Pieces of mutton are nearly half the size of what u can get at any resturant charging half the price. Never ask for extra gravy even though it is only made of oil and nothing else as they are least interested in providing you for extra money.

Overall:
Highly Overrated.
Expensive compared to food quantity and quality.
Non courteous staff and management.

Worth skipping.
Dev Raj
One more place where I love to have the chicken preparations. Though the quality has been a bit consistent, I like their preparation. Must try mutton korma and love their dahi meat..........
TARUN Rastogi
A good place for meat lovers..
Very brief menu, mutton korma and mutton sekh masala are truely flingerlicking good
Its a very small seating area made out of a residential flat.
The prices are jusitified but only if you are there maximum by 8:30 pm, else the food quality may deteriorate drastically..
Rahul Gupta
Too much ego problem with customer unfriendly staff just want to irritate customer after delivery do not vist again nakli Ashok bettar visit other restaurants
Rajat Dhingra
The appearance of this eatery might not attract you and the menu is also very limited but in my opinion this place serves one of the BEST Mutton Korma in Delhi. Quantity is less but totally compensated by the taste of it. The Mutton is cooked for hours and is soft in the mouth.
Chicken Korma comes second in the race of the specialities of this place. Same gravy but different meat. So a little different taste.
Best part is those small Tandoori Rotis. True to it's name, proper tandoori. Little but crisp!
Mutton Seekh and Chicken Seekh are good.
I always book my order on the call as they're sold out by 9-9.30 PM on rush days. Generally by 10 PM they run out of Mutton Korma.
Give it a try.
Like the review if you agree with me.
Arpan Aggarwal
Meat is good, go for korma and meat masala and definitely a try.
But chicken quality has gone down over period of time. They used to serve one of best butter chicken, literally finger licking but all that Is changed now. Also spices and chillies have increased so much sometimes its hard to eat. Chutney is watery on Sunday eve.

Still go for meat and roti. They change Roti's if not baked properly, enjoy it with meat.

Anuj
This is quite a small place having seating space for about 20-25 ppl max. They use desi ghee in their meal which I totally love. We had tandoori chicken which wasn't quite good. Though it looked amazing but it tasted like they used some Lemon paste for marination. Their specialty is chicken korma & mutton korma. Chicken korma is really amazon. Little bit spicy but I'm going again for it. I don't like mutton so can't comment about it. We also tried Chicken lababdar which was too spicy. Overall it was nice experience and worth going again.
Rajiv Bansal
Visited there for the first time, after hear from many friends about Ashok meat..was curious to taste, but now I think it's very much overRated place.. so much of red chilly & spices.. gravy was worse than any local dhabas, mutton pcs too over cooked..& believe me there was no original taste of mutton,

Pointwise-
Food- 6/10
Ambience- 5/10
Price- 8/10
Service- 7/10

Verdict- not worth visiting..
Sachin Malhotra
This is not the original . Ashok meat is only in Sadar Bazar. They do not have any branch. The name is Ashok and Ashok in Basti Harphool Singh. Sadar Thana road.
Jai Kathuria
Not at all satisfactory!

Honestly I have read a lot good reviews about it but the food is not at all worth eating! Full of oil and spices, you would not be able to eat the second bite!

If you are at this location, you can try changezi located just opposite to it!
Mohit Khanna
Have been there multiple times. Small place , average ambience . Food is awesome. Must try chicken Korma and chicken lababdar. Last time had mutton Korma. Mutton was not tender at all. Not expected
Satyam Kwatra
If you crave for mutton Korma ..no other place you can ask for. I have to book my food before I come here as it takes an hour to reach. The taste and quality of mutton served here is excellent.
Yagika Madan
It was OK food. Had too much of oil; very well cooked though. But then as much as I have heard about ashok meat wala and the kind of wait I had to do. It wasn't that superb. The quantity was excellent. The was Biriyani as well which I didn't try.

But the meat was oily for sure.
Soneja Gaurav
Good tasty food but you can always see an arrogance on owner face if he is too busy but he is very simple qhen there are less orders.his face expression s depend on number of orders he received that day.more orders make him as he is only one with good food.aorry but taste also depends on hospitality.

Located in Derawal Nagar of Gujranwala Town, Ashok Meat Wala is a nice & small eatery for take-aways and home deliveries of Mughlai Food. Although their miscellany of items is not very broad, whatever limited items they serve come with a fine and appetizing taste. I often order form here whenever I am in Gujranwala as it has always been a good option for me to grab some cheap but nice Mughlai food. Was passing by Gujranwala a few days ago, and decided to stop here for a take away order.

The list of items I got packed are as follows:

CHICKEN BIRYANI – Although the pieces were a bit chewy, the taste was certainly good.

BUTTER CHICKEN – The portions were fine and so was the taste.

MUTTON KORMA – Complemented well with the breads and was a likeable dish overall.

All the items here are quite filling and I refrained from over-indulging into the craze for Mughlai food.
If you happen to be somewhere in Gujranwala, you can try this one out.

FINAL RATINGS

FOOD QUALITY – 3.5/5

SERVICE – 4/5

VALUE FOR MONEY – 3.5/4

ON THE WHOLE – 3.5/5

Just opposite Town market Gujranwala market, Model town Ashok Meat wala is a small food joint.
As the name suggests one has to try the keema and meat served by them.
Gaurav Kapur
Wow is one word that completes my dining experience.

The outlet shouldtnt be confused with ashok n ashok meat in daryaganj. Its located opposite gujrawalan town market.

Coming to food the meat was perfectly mix with keema and was cooked in pure desi ghee. But the best thing was even after having it u dont get that greay feeling of ghee on ur palate. A must visit for any meat lover

Rotis were nice mini n crispy and paratha were well done parat daar

They have a small seating area inside
Rajat Dua
Famous for cooking in desi ghee and the preparation is decent. Butter chicken was cooked nicely with not so sweet gravy as some end up doing it too sweet. Chicken tikka was a bit hard.
Manu Aggarwal
Ok.. So the place is not really one should really think of / plan to go.. If you come across and feel like giving it a try.. Just try mutton korma it will be decent enough to pamper your taste buds. The service time is the worst.. There might b a case when the people might have actually forgot ur order so keep on reminding them.. Being upfront and honest they are robbing people in the name of Ashok meat wala ( wanna try the real one go to basti harphool Singh nearby sadar bazaar and have the original Ashok and Ashok meat cooked with pure desi ghee).. Roti served here is damn small unlike the price of it. Would not recommend this place as you might end up spending money and wasting time for an OK taste. Better dont go.
Cons: * Service * Pricing * Dead ambience * Short of any signature dish.
Pros: * Don't go with high hopes on food just go to add it your being there done that list.
Arvind Budhiraja
Cancelled The Order after 45 min. Said they cant deliver. Totally unprofessional approach. Wish them good luck. Hope service improves in future

First time had Meat in pure desi ghee. Went along with my friend . Ordered Spl Desi Ghee Dahi Meat along with Mirchi Naan . Loved the taste of the curry . Service was Good. Rating Food - 4/5 .
Udit Batra
Ashok meat wala and Ashok and Ashok meat Dhaba both at first are two different entities while Ashok meat wala serves pure desi ghee korma with minced meat, Ashok meat Dhaba on the other hand offers chicken and mutton in pure desi ghee as gravy.

Talking about the food here at the Gujranwala town outlet, one plus point is that they are open for both lunch and dinner service while the meera bagh outlet is open only for lunch service.

Their korma tastes fantastic with the sweet taste and the aroma of desi ghee, it kind of recreates that amalgamation to my mind while writing this review.

Small tandoori roti's that cost ₹5/- provide good company to the gravy.

Highly recommended!
Sanjeev Gupta
I had bought Mutton Korma on 10th February after reading so many positive reviews on zomato..I swear guys it was 'horrible'.. In no ways these guys are using 'desi ghee' as claimed by them (don't know from where they are buying it).. Mutton was un cooked..totally rubber..after first bite whole of the korma was thrown in dustbin (don't want to give to street dogs).. Wasted my hard earned money ₹320..
Pulkit Sangar
Its a small place with small seating arrangement. You should only try the meat korma. I ordered chicken lababdar once and the guy made it like meat all black which was not good. Roti size should be increased and speed of service should be increased.
Avijai
These people have limited food options but muttons korma is the one worth trying. The service is slow, I would say as we have to wait long for breads to come. Size of tandoori roti is quite small and it takes them ages to get enough rotis for you.
Suggestion- kindly get bigger rotis, people won't mind paying you 5 rupees extra.
Get more service guys.
Atul Mehra
I heard a lot about this place and did tried the food.... Which is delicious.... Though I only tried... Mutton as it's famous a lot for that.....
And I was overwhelmed with the food..... Very nicely cooked.... And it's a must try...

Hmmm went to this place after hearing from friends allot about this place but this place some how bit disappointed me for two reason 1st there mutton korma was finish (for which they are famouse) and next is we orders mutton lababdar which was very normal dhaba types. Thou this place has copied style from Ashoka meat wala at Sadar nazar and his nephew (z coner)In east patel nagar but quality did not match or it was Quite lesser then of the other two here I am talking about quality of mutton, onion, quality of free chapattis and serving style only ( not taste because we actually did not taste mutton korma) in all if one is far from other two place this can be option provided they have mutton korma(home made desighee cooked) then might not be bad option but original is original and I wish next time I will surly want to try mutton korma and might think of changing my review on it
Hiimaanshu Parasher
Been there many times mutton korma is very good , rotis are crisp ordered chicken & seekh kebab once & was very dissappointed everything else is passe...

A very well know shop for meat lover and the name itself say Ashok meat wala ...people call it as Ashoki meat wala .. also my first to visit to Gujrawala town ..Small place , not more than 30 people capacity . Handsome good looking owner himself welcomes you at the entrance . We ordered for 2 plates of Mutton and rotiss , mirchi paratha ... mutton was perfect cooked .. The masala curry was full of flavor .. It was my experience and I really enjoyed .

A very popular place to have chicken in this area.We all are well known with 'Ashok Meat Wala'.Located in Derawal Nagar, this place has served a lot of people.A must visit if you're in this area and are looking to have non veg food.

Yesterday night gone to this place . in a kothi ground floor area ,it is running.
1- chicken korma is good , gravy is thick and tasty. Actually made by grilled chicken marinated with thick greavy. 3.5 stars from my side
2- dahi Mutton was good made in dashi ghee I think. Mutton was soft n tender. Taste was gud. 4 stars from my side to this dish
4- seekh kabab was below ordinary. Not so tasty. It's routine taste like ordinary corners

I especially gone for Mutton korma which is especiallity of this place but unfortunately that was ended up at 9.30pm when I reached. Better luck next time.
Shivanshu Gupta
This place has one of the best chicken n mutton dishes in the town.

May it be their chicken n mutton korma or may it be their tandoori chicken you just can not hate it. Like the other outlet in Pashchim vihar this outlet has the same amazing taste. Owners at both the places are very courteous and so is the staff.
Hygiene is something not to worry about as the quality of chicken and its preparation is very hygienic and clean.

The only problem i found was that the rates of the dishes are not in accordance with the ambiance of its joints but yes fr sure the taste is beyond expectations. So just a lil advice that some work can be done on their ambiance :)

Khushinder Singh Kohli
its a small place famous for its mutton, and since i had heard a lot about it, i decided to try it (take away)
personally i found it a little over-hyped - a lot of masala & oil. Gullu's in north campus make a much better mutton... so probably skip this one..
Rupan Kohli
I ordered chicken curry & mutton korma. Though the name suggests it's famous for mutton, I liked the chicken better. We reached at 9.20pm and there were still people flocking in. The pieces served were not good and cleaned properly and that's why iv rated less.
Qty- half plate for 1 person only.
Service - fast and good
Location- very approachable and opposite changezi.. Very small place and board which can be easily missed.
Sitting - available for 16 people, happy to get AC there
Costing- reasonable.. Not high not less keeping in mind the qty and the place. For 2 people 500-600 rs
Karan Sabharwal
One of the few places in Delhi serving good quality mutton. The main dishes are always a sellout so be on time. Also, very good roti's that remain soft forever.
Sourav Chutani
Lunch at ashok meat wala was a pleasure indeed, awaited for so long.

Situated on the busy gujranwala road, opp to gujranwala market. A dine in a house with a bright red board.

They start serving at 1 noon sharp. We had mutton keema which was worth the taste & quantity. You will have homely flavours for which many people crave.

The breads r hot n fresh n make d mutton more delicious. Sitting place of around 20 ppl max.

If you are a mutton lover, don't wait buddy russssshhhhh

Burrrrrrrrrppppp!!!!!
Kshitiz Kataria
Its a small eatery, wat i enjoyed was its mutton curry perfectly blended in spices . The only thing i m confused about is dat why dey people serve only one chappati at a tym and serving tym of chappaties is tooo very long . I will feel glad if anyone can answer my dis question ?
JAI SAMRAT SINGH
Well , Its a nice small tucked away eatery serving some good Mutton Kari.
Tried Mutton and Matar Paneer over there.
Mutton was better than many usual restaurants and their Roti service was very good and unique.
Fresh baked tandoori rotis which were complimentary with the food was delight able.

Matar Paneer was a complete disaster though , perhaps veg is done just for the sake of it.

Over all a different experience than regular restaurant visit.
One piece of advise is that they should do what they are best into rather than doing everything.
Vishal Sachdeva
It was my 4th visit at this place and they never disappoint me. Chicken n mutton made in desi Ghee. Mutton korma is fab. True value for money. Dont xpect a fine dining but taste of food z awesome.
Their tandoori chicken z also very juicy and tasty. Small place but very tasty nin vegetarian stuff. Never tried their vegetarian dishes.
Keep it up !!
Harpal Singh
People will have to locate this place if not familiar with North Delhi..

This is famous for its mutton korma.. The entire menu is not available in the afternoon..still u can have a decent number of dishes for choice..

Don't be too late in the night else u won't get the dish u desire..

Tasty food.. Decent price.. Good quality!
Nikhil Chawla
When its a national holiday you tend to eat stuff which is full on flavor and calories . They serve meat cooked in pure desi ghee and you could see it floating over the curry as well . The mutton they use is of very high quality and the masala they use are the same as you find in most of the home cooked mutton . It's a must try for all the red meat lovers and lazy people who don't want to cook mutton at home on a Sunday . Lol
Gaurank Arora
Really nice restaurant.. Bill for 2 would me maximum 500.. Mutton korma here is just awesome. A must visit budget place.
Saju Dev
Delicious.

Small place for traditional punjabhi gheo wala khana ( Desi ghee) opp. Gola northex compound. Ideal for sunday late lunch with palak meat and mutton korma.
Abhimanyu Sarin
Mutton korma is delicious. Served in desi ghee it tastes like home food. Awsome food!!
Virender Mehta
Nice mughlai food . Must try chicken briyani and mutton korma.
Mukul Uppal
So the place is pretty good to order the food back home. Their tagline says 'kam khaao, acha khaao'. Ok that sounds fine and great and the food actually makes you feel full worth of your money. But still not many of us would like the idea of 'kam khaao' :D haha.
The breads are fine.
The briyanis are nothing but a mix of their chicken or mutton korma curries with their already pre-cooked briyani rice.
The food is prepared in pure desi-ghee. So what comes with that is that you have to really consume your food fast in cold weather or else that ghee will freeze so soon that you'd have to keep microwaving the food again and again.Specially when you are not eating less of it(kam khaao).
Now time for some basic math -
2 pieces of mutton korma will cost you - Rs. 200
4 pieces - Rs. 300
6 pieces - Rs. 500
8 Pieces - Rs. 600

So either order 4 or 8 for good value for money. That's what the owner would like too I suppose. But the pricing could have been set fairer to this. Also they are sometimes less generous with their amount of curry packing. Well they supposedly do say 'kam khaao acha khaao'.
Sanmeet Singh
overpriced uncooked food....pathetic paranthas just like rubber....uncooked mutton....chicken lababdaar is like tandoori chicken in tomato gravy....totally wastage of money...
Hansveer Sahni
Mutton korma to die for , can do little better with the ambience to attract better crowd. 5 for the food but place is a bit shaby 2 for place.
Dheeraj Aggarwal
I had mutton korma and chicken lababdar.. Both dishes were well prepared and tasted really good .. Will definitely visit again..
Divyang
Mutton korma with mirchi naan/parantha is the speciality here. It's been ages that I have been going here and every time the taste is heavenly.

I actually discovered this place by accident while waiting for a friend and browsing through the list of restaurants around on Zomato. Sort by rating and boom-emerges an unheard name on top of the list with 4.1 stars. The ratings were an assurance that the strong urge for having good chicken was going to be satiated quite soon so without even thinking of a second option we landed here.

This place is a small Dhaba opened in what looks like a garage of the house and is located bang opposite the community market in Gujrawala Town. Standing opposite Changezi which is ever bustling with people around and is also quite famous in the area for its chicken the place doesn’t look promising at all to be honest. It is run by two guys who I think are brothers- both of them very polite and well organized.

Although we had planned to have a sit down dinner but looking at the ambiance and the crowd we decided to take away. There were a few middle aged men stilling around in the place and a few of them quite evidently drunk.

One good thing about this place is that they have their kitchen right at the entrance and the seating area is located behind divided by a glass partition. So you can actually see while your order is being prepared. We decided to order Chicken Lababdar, Mirchi Paratha a few roties and Chicken Biryani. The food was heavenly (if you are a chicken lover you will know exactly what I mean), The chicken was well cooked and the gravy was very consistent. Also, unlike most of the places which have a layer of oil floating on top of the gravy their gravy was made in Ghee. The Mirchi Paratha was good, however their rotis are exceptionally small so make sure you order a few extra Rotis as well. The Chicken Biryani was okay- nothing great about it. Combined with Raita it made quite a decent deal.

Chicken Lababdar was totally a show stealer and I’m quite looking forward to trying more items on their menu.

Ashok meat wala is a very small shop located in Gujranwala town near to Model town. This place is very famous for its mutton specialities like Mutton korma,Dahi meat & mutton seekh kababs.

My personal favourite are Mutton korma & Butter chicken. These two dishes taste very good & are different in taste.Along with these Mirchi parantha is also good.

are very generous with quantity ,they give good amount of
gravy. The seating is not good so packing/delivery is always preferred by me.

Reading one review has made me worrisome about their hygiene standards now, which i never found problem with earlier.
Rahul Verma
I live in Australia and have been to Ashok meat couple of times . I must admit I can't wait to eat their food again. I would strongly recommend their Ahoke meat ,butter chicken, tandoori Irani, chicken lababdar, dai meat, roti hari mirchi., and chatni pyaz or Gur believe me fellows its out of the world you must try once. I can confidently say if you are true punjabi or Delhite or food lover you would love this place. next time i will come with my family and friends i miss there food in Australia so much

Before visiting here I was little confused but as soon as I tasted the food all my confusion just went out of window. They're the best not just at cooking but also serving! I bet you won't find such a genuinely tasty food anywhere else. My rating 5/5!
Karan Singhal
Really! I must say - AWESOME food I have ever tasted! If you're living in Delhi plus you're non-vegetarian then you must visit this place. The delicious Korma served with their chutney and their amazing hospitality only adds up to the ambiance and taste of food.
Shubhashishbudhija Budhija
No rating, whoz owner dere, I told him that my lamb is uncooked, as I tasted , he took out that piece from my plate and dropped it into his big bowl, and gave me another piece, I told him that its jhoota , how can u give it to some one else, and I had a fight, and I never been there, hygiene is better than taste

Without a doubt this place serves the best Mutton Korma in town, i find the Korma even better then Karim's. They use pure desi ghee in it.

Mutton Korma Along With Mirchi Parantha Is Heaven For Me .. !!!! As per other items on the menu you can always try biryani and tandoori chicken, which is similar to what most local joints have to offer.

As per the ambiance goes, its a very small place, with a few 4-5 tables, which are always filled during night time :) i would rather get it Home Delivered.

The Service is superb as the owner manages everything and is really soft spoken gentleman.

Taste -- 5/5
Ambiance -- 2.5/5
Service -- 5/5
