Review Nahar Sidewalk Cafe - Ooty (Udhagamandalam)

I visit this restaurant every time I visit Ooty. Authentic wood fire pizzas are must tries. Pasta varieties are also good. Rates are a bit on the higher side, but the restaurant atmosphere and food make it up. Home-made chocolates are also available here.

Very good multi cuisine Veg restaurant in the heart of ooty's upmarket area. Super menu, good food, nice ambience. The French onion soup was a let down though. Nilgiri pizza and wood fired chilli cheese toast, pasta fungi were good. Black currant crush, cafe frappe, lassi were good too.

Vegetarian Italian cafe. Atmosphere is good. They serve authentic wood fire pizza. Crust is well made. Tastes really good. Also tried Creamy mashroom soup and coffee. Prices are on the higher side. All type of payments are accepted. Service was preety fast. The place is also not much crowded. Washroom available inside the cafe.

Fine European cuisine in ooty? . This place is a no brainer . Their soups are hot and comforting and the pizzas are wood fired and had a little kick to it which added to the warmth . The dishes are on the expensive side and they only accept cash which is a bummer . Good place n vibes, Food was good too. The service could have been a bit more organized. All other nearby restaurants were busy, but we found this cosy place relatively free of clutter. We tried Pizza, Fried rice, Thai rice with curry. The taste was good.

A fine dining vegetarian Italian Restaurant located in the heart of Ooty serving authentic wooden fried pizza, sizzlers, burgers and pastas. Would definitely recommend to visit this place on your Ooty visit. Amazing chef, convenient location with ample parking, spacious seating, cozy interiors, delicious food, Fresh food made at the live counter are the highlights, the service was quite disappointing, lack of staff I guess. Quite pricey, but worth trying.

Their pizzas and burgers are good. Nice homely, fresh and filling. It's all vegetarian. They have woodfired pizza. We ordered a farmhouse pizza which was loaded with cheeze and paneer, apart from other vegetables. And it has a thin crust. Their burgers were also huge and buns were fresh and fluffy. It was enough for two people. And their service was also quick. Not very crowded too. Overall good experience and nice ambience, quite spacious too. Their hotel also has parking inside.

Had a great experience. We had Nilgiri Chef special pizza and French onion soup along with French Fries. For dessert had chocolate mocha pastry. The food experience was amazing and the hospitality too.

One of my favourite place to visit when I'm in Ooty. This place is the vibe. Their pizzas and pastas are amazing. You cannot miss this place when you are in Ooty. It's on the main road so parking is a bit of a hassle but they do have basement parking for cars and bikes can park on opposite side. It's a vegetarian place but they have some amazing options. Try out their mushroom sauce pasta, supreme veg pasta, cheese garlic bread and chocolate milkshake. The price is on the expensive side but it's definitely worth it

Superb food in the midst of the Ooty market! It has pastas pizzas burgers sandwiches etc! The taste was awesome and i highly recommend the same to everyone! Must must try food here! The staff also was very helpful and supportive and ambience was cool and attractive!

Very unique place with some tasty food. Pasta florentina was great in taste. Even the quantity was good. Very sufficient for 2 people. A bit costly though.

We were a but spectacle at the start. As it looks always empty. And some of the reviews were not good as well. But once we tried the food its just awesome. We tried Firewood pizza and its simply great. Really good taste. Far far better then the other pizza chains like pizza hut or Dominos. I will highly recommend this pizza.

A pleasant surprise when I first visited this place. One of the best pizza I had ever eaten. Such an authentic pizza. Nothing of the over-hyped stuff, just simple wooden oven baked pizza. Their speciality -Nilgiris cheese pizza. One of the most under-rated places in Ooty. The desserts are also simply too good. A bit on the pricey end, but definitely worth it.

Pizza , Sandwich , Lassi & Freshly cut fruits @ Nahar Sidewalk Cafe . Pizza is made in a wood fire oven , the taste is impressive , the sandwich was good too , Lassi was as thick as it should be . Overall a satisfactory experience . The service was a bit on the slower side though .

The place is located in the heart of commercial road. The hotel serves only continental cuisine. The Ambience of the hotel is good & the service is very good. The staffs are very Hospitable. The rates are quite reasonable for the quality & quantity. Don't know why it's been rated low & sad not much of people are visiting. The taste of the food is really good. Tried out Tasty Pasta, wood fried Pizza, mouth watering Sepagatie. Awesome taste & must try out these delicious recipes. There is no saperate parking place for this Cafe. Either need to park in Commercial road parking lot (which is of pure luck) or need to park in Nahar Hotel parking. Pets are not allowed. The Restrooms are good & maintain well. Wood fired pizza is the main speciality and you should give it a try. Hot chocolate was okay.

Overrated! Nothing that great! Food is average, service is worse, they do serve edible food! Location is superb - right in the middle of the town! Would really recommend this place to anyone!

We have at good experience at their north indian restuarant so we had high hopes here too. But it was a very disappointing experience .<br/>We ordered garlic bread with cheese and the first portion was very nice.. crisp, loaded with cheese and the quantity was good for 6people. So we had more hopes with the pizza as it was wood fired.<br/>But the pizza was pathetic.. it was loaded with veggies and cheese but the sauce? There was no pizza sauce.. it was only a regular sauce applied underneath. A good italian resto can't do this. Heard a lot about this place on various websites.<br/>The food is very okay lacks in taste.<br/>Cleanliness and hygiene is the reason for such low rating. <br/>Plates, tables and tableware was not clean, everything had dirt and grease.<br/>Was really driven to their wood fired oven so I went to have a look at it, as it’s in live kitchen, but the chef doesn’t follow any hygienic practices during preparation food was handled with bare hands and the utensils were not clean.<br/><br/>Moreover the pizza and garlic bread we ordered was burnt from edges.<br/><br/>Only great thing was sizzling brownie with ice cream. And these two stars are for them.

A regular cafe in the main market of Ooty. Went there for brunch. Ordered veg grilled sandwiches and cheese grilled sandwiches. Both the dishes were quite good. They give a generous amount of fries to go along with it and some coleslaw.<br/><br/>We also ordered a regular filter coffee and mochachino. Both were really bad. Was surprised to find how terrible was filter coffee - a regular drink in this part of the country. It has Great food and nice view. Little slow service but worth the wait. The people are nice and you can see you're food cooking.<br/>Loved the family pizza options.

The food is awesome we loved it .Never try veg stroganoff horrible stuff.But pasta ,pizza r good.u can try the ice tea it's really good.we had most of our meals there during our entire stay.

Roasted in the summer heat of Ooty until v came across to chill out in dis place on commercial road. Half the crowd were foreigners, decent place and ambience. Had ordered Popeye pizza, garlic bread and brownie sizzler n mind u it was good. Give it a try when ur out in Ooty.

I generally like everything related to food....even if the service is poor I give credit if the food is good..but this place we couldn't even go for the food.... Apparently it's the "off season" and they didn't have much on the menu..the waiter who was serving us(I am sure you get the pun) was not very friendly either..he had a sense of attitude that "we are the best, get the heck out"...best to avoid... Willy's Coffee Pub might be a better option..and they don't have the "off season" rule...cheers...

A short family vacation to ooty, and we heard that this place serves good food so decided to try it out. Located at Elk Hill, this cafe is quite spacious with quite a few number of tables and a vast menu.<br/>We ordered Nilgiris Special Pizza, Popeye Pizza and Thai Fried Rice with Green curry.<br/><br/>Nilgiris Pizza (3/5): The thin crust fire wood pizza was good with a really good crust. The problem was that the topping was a bit on the sweeter side and it was falling off. Decent taste though.<br/><br/>Popeye Pizza (4/5): This had a better taste and the toppings too were piquant.<br/><br/>Thai Rice (5/5): This was the best of the lot and I can confidently say that this might be one of their best dishes. The rice was cooked to perfection with mid spices and a lot of veggies. The green curry consisted of vegetables like beans and broccoli and it took the taste to the next level. A must must try dish.<br/>

Ooty, anyway, takes you away from all the chaos that’s going on around you. <br/>This place takes you away from Ooty, a tad bit. Nicely poised in the middle of the main market, this cafe is subtle in its existence, and its ways.<br/>Decent food, but extremely soothing ambiance. We went here twice during our 3 day stay at Ooty, which should speak volumes of this place.<br/>Nothing extraordinary about this place, but sometimes it’s the ordinary which has a certain charm about it. Hence, do give this place a shot. Who knows, what magic may happen.

We walked in the restaurant after watching the glass window where one can see the exquisite process of pizza making. The freshly kneed dough kept on their counters.<br/><br/>Amazing food on whatever we ordered.<br/><br/>Soup: Avoid the tomato if you don't like sweet soups. Best was the French onion and their special Potato potato. Both very good.<br/><br/>Best are the burgers and the pizzas. Mouth melting burger and crunchy thin crust pizzas. Oh and not to forget the pastas.<br/><br/>If you are going there for dinner reach there before the clock strikes 8pm, coz after that the place gets packed up with people. And the service becomes really slow. They have a casually slow service, which helps relax at the end of a site seeing trip, the staff is friendly and helpful. The slow service my guess is due to poor coordination between the staff and the cooks.<br/><br/>Overall a recommended place for sure.

Poor service, poor taste, decent ambience. Service and taste is really poor. They claim that they serve fresh, but still taste is not good. Even unnecessarily expensive.

Worst service ever had with any restaurant<br/>And food quality was poor too had to ask 3-4 times for water and napkin. Waiter didn't care to listen

These guys have really bad taste and also very poor service. I mean serving water is very basic adequate every restaurant follows, and they can't even do that.

Looks nice from outside. The location is quite nice. I had green salad and pasta. The portion size is really small and is bit over priced. Neatness is another factor which restaurant folk should look into. Still if you get bored by eating South Indian food. Please visit this place,it is good for a change .

Horrible place . Horrible service and they still charge service charge which we can't escape paying. The staff is not ready to talk to customers and yell at us for asking questions about bill which they screw up. Ordered a french fries and immediately asked then to convert it to a combo which had a burger, french fries and Pepsi. They gave us 10 rs Pepsi and later charged us for a separate french fries and combo. When talked to server he said that's the bill in a very rash way and walked away asking us to talk to management. Manager came and said that's their mistake and can't do anything since the bill has been generated, patronizing us by patting our back and telling a useless sorry. Don't go here unless you want to spoil your holiday

We went to this place on a chilly evening..as we just wanted to have sandwiches & all.The place looked decent.We waited for their staff to attend us..for quite sometime..but with no luck.Then i had to personally call someone...had to catch their attention & call them to take orders..weird.Its not like the place was full...or heavily crowded..the place was barely half filled.We ordered for 2 veg cheese sandwiches,chilly cheese toast & fries.Again,it took quite a lot of time for them to get this prepared.Taste wise...all was decent..nothing to complain about.Only the chilly cheese toast was spicier than expected.The pricing was ok as well..except for the service charge..which was levied despite the low standards of service they provide.. :-( <br/>All in all, its a decent place..the food tastes good as well..if only they can improve their service..

Very very courteous service. The best pizza I’ve eaten- the Nilgiri special made with Nilgiri cheese and to do die for fudge cake! Highly recommended!!

Nahar's side walk cafe comes out as a surprise food outlet in Ooty offering a good range of Italian dishes.<br/><br/>Ambience (3/5) - nothing fancy, although the arrangements are kept neat and clean.<br/><br/>Food(4.5/5) - perfect and unique. "Best woodfire pasta I had"<br/><br/>Service (0/5) - terrible and slow as a ketchup. They Won't listen to you and act busy even when they are not.<br/><br/>Budget(2/5) - Bit hard on pocket but you have to expect that out of a joint in a tourist spot.<br/><br/>Must try - Pasta Florentina, Pasta Italina(wood fired), Chocolate Brownie.

A well located cafe in the heart of the main food hub of Ooty.<br/><br/>Its a all vegetarian cafe specialising in woodfire pizza as their in house speciality.<br/><br/>The ambience is also an attempt to give a feeling of a cafe with good amount of sitting.<br/><br/>The service was good and acceptable.<br/><br/>We had<br/><br/>Sweet corn soup<br/>Fries<br/><br/>Mexican surprise pizza which was good with generous amount of topping as jalepeno,sweetcorn and mushroom. It was a good pizza and definitely better than the others chain of pizza brands out there.<br/><br/>The pricing was also acceptable though on a slight higher side than the neighborhood.<br/><br/>

Should be definitely on the list if you are Vegetarian and a pizza lover. Friendly staff, good ambience with an open kitchen, one can see fresh pizzas prepared in the brick owen. Awesome Garlic bread and thin crust pizza. Not too many varieties available. They can surely do more!!!

Cheese chilli toast was just like pizza.. They have a different style of cooking pizza.. It's in tandoor... This is how it comes out as a different cuisine...... Hot chocolate brownie was the best amongst equals..... Staff is not so courteous and not willing to serve....

Chilled out place that serves good veg food. Right about the road side. Their signature wood baked pastas and pizzas are amazing! Penne with Fungi sauce is my personal favorite

Best suited for American and Continental. While the service was a bit sluggish, however Chilli Cheese garlic bread and wood fired pizza was really good. The ambience was friendly. Restaurant should keep the newspaper or magazine to build upon the Cafe image as it is located at one of the most prominent places.
