Review Sagar Ratna Restaurant - Panchkula

TraVeLAsTic
Have tried a a lot of sagar ratanas earlier. This place had a different vibe with a peaceful environment. The food was quite tasty and simple as South Indian food should have been. Had a filter coffee too. A recommended place to have an authentic South Indian food.

So I am new to the city and thought of having some south Indian food as I spend some good time in Hyd due to work . I just came through Sagar Ratna while I was shopping for my kid. I checked some reviews starting from lowest and thought not to try this . But since I had visited this brand in Delhi and other states I still had the trust and I visited . I found food 5/5 Service 5/5 Price 5/5 Ambience 5/5 Guys please do not expect to get road side South Indian price with branded, well ambiencd food outlets . Rs 220/- for a Masala Dosa with such ambience , service and brand name is not expensive at all . On few reviews on Sambar having jaggery : Yes small amount of Jaggery is added , sambar from different places will have different taste hyderabad, Bangalore , they use jaggery , Chennai they don't and it's spicy. Tried filter coffee as I am fond of filter coffee and belong to this fraternity , some how coffee can be better , but it is not only product, there is a lot of hardwork and getting such filter coffee at Northern states is acceptable same way when we can not get good chole bhature in hyderbad !! Keep up the good work and 5 Star for all the employees Time of visit today : 6:30 pm

I must say the best south indian food chain . But I love the North-Indian platter they serve. The food is full of flavors and nutrition. Family like ambience with some musical instruments playing in the background. Good services and humble work force. Amazing food of course! Recommended place for vegetarian family.

Food is generally good but a bit salty to my liking. Over time they have increased prices but have reduced portion sizes. The dosas, earlier, used to be long rolled and would flow out of the plate...Now they seemingly use much less batter for a dosa and serve with triangular folds... because making a long fold would visibly make the dosa appear much much short. Also, because of less batter, one dosa is not much filling. Idli chaat and dahi vada are tasty. Sambar is not the best but ok.

Love the food and service at this place. You'll probably have to wait on a weekend but ample space and quick services ensures that you don't wait more than 20 minutes or so. Good for family and kids with a large variety. Recommended for both North Indian, South Indian & Chinese cuisine.
Swastik Mohan
Perfect place for all south Indian dishes. North Indian is good too. Within budget. Rich Diverse Menu. My personal recommendation - try their idly chaat and assorted dosas with 3 types of chutneys and fantastic sambhar.Nice ambience and good hygiene. I wish them success in future to spread and bring accolades for authentic South Indian cuisine, not only in India, but across globe. Suggestion : Increase options of combos. Keep going......... All the best.

As a traditional Bharatiye restaurant it seems quite good .Food ,ambience ,cleanliness everything seems decent, just that the pricing seems a tad high for a sagar Ratna!! I might not have any doubts paying this kinda price for a Swagat sec 26 chd but in here it seems a bit iffy!!

A very cosy place with nice ambience. Courteous and efficient staff. Quality of food served is delicious. Good place for a family outing and as well as going out with friends. Certainly worth a visit especially for those who are fond of South Indian food.

I have recently visited this famous place called Sagar Ratba which was absolutely good. They have indor well furnished seating, you can spend quality time with someone or with yourself, the place is so calm. The place is best known for his South Indian Dishes. However I ordered followings. 🔶️Idali Chatt 🔶️Masala Dosha 🔶️Lime Soda would definitely recommend to try Idali Chatt. Staff was courteous, humble, well mannered and taking all necessary precastions for COVID-19. The time you spend there is worth it.

It's always peaceful, and the food is good as usual, I really like the fact that they notice their customers in a good way and provide service accordingly, for instance we were 2 people but ordered just one dosa as we were not much hungry and they provided us 2 plates and sambhar in 3 bowls considering the fact that we are going to share. Maybe this happens in many places but i thought to mention this.😊

Pure vegetarian multicuisine restaurant chain. Started as a South Indian food eatery with much touted filtered coffee and dosai. We're a large group but the service was quite good. Signature dishes were excellent. Even the sweet dishes were above par. Economical on the pocket. Could improve their toilet, though. In all, a good experience.

Good taste. To maintain the top rating - they should put consistent effort to sustain the taste of food. Have the best cooks and waiters …

Yesterday I visited this restaurant and we ordered Plain Dosa, plain uttapam and rice idlis. I didn't like the plain Dosa... It was more like a paper dosa. But plain uttapam was really good, chutneys and sambhar were also yummy. Rice idlis were soft and delicious, which I loved the most. Food quality was fine and quantity was perfect. Affordable prices. Great service. Ambience was nice and decent. Mostly Family crowd. Cleanliness - 3🌟 ; Taste - 4🌟; Service - 4🌟; Value for money - 3.5🌟 #eatmedrinkmee follow us for more updates :)

Nice place. Good food. Quick service. Even Chinese and North Indian is good.

Always enjoy going to sagar ratna restaurant in sector 9.panchkula.. The staff are courteous and the service is fast.. More so the food tastes authentically south Indian.

Sambhar server in very small chutney bowls has made the food experience low and poor.

Duty Manager was not interested for feedback while complaining.
Use to love this place and was a very frequent diner ....but lately experienced very bad food, oily, spicy, and not appealing... Won't be coming back 🥵😡
Ojas Anand
Worst experience ever ... not value dor money ...ordered spring roll dosa worth rs 250 but there was no difference between spring roll and masala dost worth 150 ....it's nothing more than a masala dosa cut in 4 peices placed on a fancy try.
Ankit Kashyap
I had ordered butter plain dosa from this restaurant . It was so bitter in taste. I think batter was not fresh. I hope zomato will look into this matter.

Highly overrated and higlypriced south indoan Food.Nothing special about sambhar and even u can get good quality And more tasty sambhar at other resaturants. We had Upma, Plain onion Dosa with sambhar.Upma is good but the quantity was too less which is not justified by its price and Plain dosa was worthless to order. they prepare plain onion dosa by simply putting raw onion in dosa which is worthless to eat .
They should increase the quantityand should ower prices and should upgrade the food quality.

Yesterday I ordered paneer naan with gravy from here. And to my surprise there was hardly any paneer in it. Just a thin layer of flour with name of paneer in it. Being a regular customer this wasn’t expected. Won’t be ordering again ever.
NetD Zire
Went with my wife today around 7:30 PM. Restaurant wasn’t with muc crowd. Lot of staff was standing at front of entrance gate but when we entered noone escort us and we choose our own place. We ordered Dahi Badda, Badda Sambhar, Idili Sambhar and Filtered Coffee.

-Dahi Badda was like home made taste, simply curd mixed with sugar but south touch taste.
-Badda was too small and hard with no taste.
-Idili was perfect
-Sambhar was perfect
-Sauces was tasty too

We asked extra sambhar but captan who took order didn’t show importance of my ordered extra sambhar. Why so? Are we there for charity? You must visit Kartik at sector 47 or Zirakpur VIP road who respect customers needs and taste.

Last but not least, time of leaving noone asked us if we need anythjng else lolz... bhai Sagar Rattna hi reh geya Triciry main... Bahar nikali and see the competition

I like the South Indian meal. Apart from that try Masala Dosa which I think is the best so far. Ambience is good and I'm peak hours you might have to wait.
Meenal Mittal
My favourite south Indian restaurant in tricity....the best is the dahi vada and masala dosa.... have tried mostly all the types of dosas all of these are amazing and soo sooo yummy 👍👍👍

Sagar Ratna is one of the finest places in Panchkula for authentic South Indian food. I personally love south indian food so i visit this place quite alot. My favourite is the Masala dosa and paneer naan with gravy. The place is best for family dinings and the prices are also very affordable. Both the quality and quantity of good is really nice. The menu is quite vast. Pav bhaji is also one of the hot selling food items there. Highly recommended restaurant.
Saurabh
Probably the best place to have south Indian dishes in entire tricity..

Super fast services coupled with great taste and variety makes this a number 1 choice for south indian cuisine.
Shabani Khanna
It’s difficult to be polite when you go to celebrate an occasion & have it butchered by awful food & sloppy service! Probably the worst dosas I have ever eaten! They were thick like makki ki roti & the idlis seemed stale! Very very disappointing!!! The most tasteless food ever! Wonder what makes the restaurants so unconcerned about the food / service / customers!!!
Aneesh
Excellent food. The family dosa and the rasam is awesome. A must try. The service is also very prompt and courteous. A good place for a family dinner.
Akalmurat
Best place to have south indian food.
Number one place in terms of taste and hygiene !! Ps-i love this place because of my grandparents whenever they miss south the go and have dosas n idlis over here and the taste is exactly same its there every other day ritual to visit sagar ratna.
Sheenam Sharma
Good place good food ...... Dum aloo in particular was good........ lot of options in south Indian food ......platter in was satisfying........ Slow service though

Harshvadhan Rathore
Casual evening outing place for family.
They serve good sorry Indian / north Indian/ Continental food.
The service is quick and staff is polite.
We went there with our group of friends as we wanted to try Dhaba style pure Punjabi food . As soon as we reached at the front of Rishi Vaishno Dhaba , the aroma of food was amazing that made us extremely hungry .

AGAIN i found a hair in one of your chutneys otherwise the food was great. this is the second time i’ve found hair in my food WTH.

One of this finest place for South Indian food. Though not really authentic south Indian, but the taste and quality is good. For tge authentic flavours you must visit south India :p but till then sagar ranta surves the purpose. I would guve it a three and a half star.
Fine Diner
Loved the crunchy masala dosa! Tasty condiments and sambhar. Authentic South Indian. Generally ordering dosa is risky as it becomes soggy but I must say their packaging took care of that.
Vikram Mehra
This outlet was fully occupied by kitty's on a working morning, we had idlis and rava masala dosai.
Idlis were very soft and authentic.
Rava masala dosai was crispy and very tasty though a little oily.
Sambar and 3 chutneys were perfect and authentic in taste. We even tried sambar rice and filter coffee . Everything was perfect.
Karan
It was a great treat to find some authentic south Indian food in Panchkula . Would definitely recommend this place to people who love south Indian food
Harsimran Kaur
useless dosa sambar and chatni quantity dint even serve one when order was for 2 worthless money waste jalaa huwa dosa
Shruti Sharma
Best place to have South Indian food, especially the breakfast. The place offers tasty, hygienic and pure vegetarian food. One may even order food without onion and garlic without compromising on the taste.
Rajat.cq
A calm and composed place to have that favorite south indian dish of yours. The vibs here are always of that typical family restaurant.
South Indian dishes are good, authentic and comes in decent quantity for the price. Though, few of north Indian dishes are not good. So its best to visit the place for south Indian food only. Have anything else in mind, avoid ordering or look elsewhere.
Food serving time is decent, doesn't take long.
Staff is okay, you wont feel any need to complain neither to feel good about.
Ambience is mostly calm here . Good place to relax and have food.
Ashvinder Wadhawan
I know its a dosa place but have you ever tried its Cheese naan with Gravy ❤️ I have been ordering it since it opened and trust me its delicious 😍 You can also try dahi vada. A bit costly but worth it 👍🏻
Manarki
South Indian food is always mouth watering. My all time favourite dosa. I can eat it daily. Sagar ratna is always best. Never ever disappointed their customers. Their quality is so good. The place is all time wounder full.
Yogesh Jain
Although the place is very busy, they never make you wait with stewards ever ready to serve. Short preparation time means you can go when you are really hungry and won't have to wait for your meal. Food is super tasty. I also tried their Chinese combo once and it's an awesome delightful meal.
And what's great is, your wallet doesn't have to take a huge hit.
Riya Ranga
The idli sambhar was good. Loved the coconut chutney. Red chutney seemed a bit stale. And the saddest part has to be that i found hair in my fried rice😕
Avinash Goyal
Its a great family restaurant with authentic indian food. Love the idlis, dosas with sambhar and chutneys.prefer to dine in with zomato gold rather than home delivery.

Looking for a South Indian weed, this place is the answer!
Been one of the best ever since!
Sagar Ratna has magnificently contributed to a rise in fondness for South Indian food.
Coz good food is good life, healthy food is healthy diet! 😊
Babbal Preet
They serve the best masala dosa 🤩
Heaven for all the south Indian's ❤️
The dosa was really crispy, served with mouthwatering Sambar. Great staff nd good ambience.
A must visit place 🙈
Sharib
Great for South Indian food. Maharaja dosa is the yummies with that green chutney they serve it with. Must try once if you are on chandiland. Ambience is not that great though.
Sanjay Bhambri
Excellent Rawa Dosa and Shezwan Dosa, new dish, liked very much. Authentic taste as usual, must try. Enjoyed the food . Good Ambience, nice server, polite. Very clean restaurant Thanks. Sanjay
Found Munching 💣
I ordered ginger garlic chili chownein and butter masala dosa. The noodles were yummy but very oily so not a good option for weight watchers and the dosa was superb❤️
Anshil Aggarwal
Great place for fun with friends and family. The place isn't too expensive and also there is a wide variety of dishes from continental to indian. This is a must visit place for quick bites and also the staff is very courteous
Mkohli401
Horrible experience. Lack of commitment.Very rude staff. They are giving yellow colour butter instead of missi roti...Food preparation is also not good
Ankit Monga
Food was pretty good, but they didn’t enetertain the second zomato gold as we had the screenshot, by the time we used the valid account to login and unlocked the visit zomato didn’t allow us to unlock as restaurant timings were over. That’s right on their part but they could have understood the situation. Anyways food was great !!
Ritika.monga16
The staff is very rude and service is also very Poor.
They don’t even listen to what customer is saying and behave rudely
Not worth going. Although food is good but behaviour matters a lot.
Ashish Massey
Ordered Paneer Butter Masala, Gulab Jamun & Rasmalai. Paneer Butter Masala & Gulab Jamun were good but Rasmalai was just fine. Also, the extras which was onion and pickle were pretty less. Overall, it was a good food.
Sahil
The best part about this restaurant is their Dosaaaasssss. They're amazing & probably one of the best. Other than that their main course has so much variety & almost every dish is delecious.
Tushar Gupta
Consistently excellent service and good quality food make this our favourite restaurant spot in Panchkula. We try other ‘upscale’ places too but always come back to this place for its relaxing atmosphere and good value dining experience.
If South Indian food is your thing, you got to come here. SAGAR RATNA

SAGAR RATNA PANCHKULA

Sagar Ratna started its first branch in 1986 and since then it has become favorite destination for South Indian cuisines across the country. Today it has over 100 restaurants across country and it continues to delight its customers with its authentic South Indian food cooked fresh many times a day.

Their must try dishes are the Dahi Vada, Masala Dosa, Rava Onion Masala Dosa, Mini Idlis dipped in sambhar, Paneer Dosa, Mysore Masala Dosa. Their filter coffee served in the traditional steel tumbler and saucer is another specialty.

However, if you try the fast food for this place, that is average as compared to other fast food chains. Would recommend to stick to South Indian options.

FOR MORE AMAZING FEEDS RELATED TO BEAUTY, LIFESTYLE AND TRAVEL

1. Follow me on Instagram- @cosmolifestyler

2. A good place for South Indian food, quick service and clean presentation is that forte. Not to forget the cheerful staff too. The filter coffee is something I would really recommend.
VIKAS Vashisth
Preparations were Nice like dossa, pav bhajji ... with all seats bfull it was a bit noisy. Also Tikka paneer starter was very much plain and spiceless.
Sehaj Walia
South Indian food and Sagar Ratna are just synonyms.. Be it dosa, idli, uttpam, this place is the best at whatever they offer. Also they have some great combos to offer.
Vikram Sharma
When it comes to South Indian, sagar ratna strikes the head ( specially sector 9 outlet ). A good vegetarian family restaurant that offers a good large menu to decide from. I prefer take away Nd relish at my own place.
Dahi vada is mandatory. !
Naina Gulati
Poor taste .. Had worst experience visiting the restaurant. Not even single dish was good....Higly disappointed....Will never wish this again...full wastage of money
Manumahajany2k
Really let down by the quality of food at this outlet. Ordered rice and rasam, it was one of the worst food I had ever tasted. Would not recommend to go there...
Yatharth Mehta
We ordered masala Dossa and shahi paneer, we received cold dossa and paneer wasn’t good as well. The service was very poor, very slow in taking order. Even the ambiance is old and not so well maintained. Not so happy.
Rahul Singh
Very worst food big name but no quality taste packaging material. I never recommend sagar ratna. My first order sagar ratna sector 9 panchkula and this is my last order
I am very disappointed this time in sagar ratna sec 9 Panchkula outlet.
I ordered one masala dosa and one medu vada.
Totally worth less Sambar no tast. Vada it’s too oily.
I love sagar Ratna Sambar but I don’t know y this happen this time. Totally different Sameer tast. Never come.
Never recommend
Sorry 😐 guys
Food 2/5
Service 3/5
Niyati
Sagar Ratna, this is the only place where my family wants to go always. From South Indian to Paneer naan with gravy everything here so so so delicious.
I really love the Dahi Vadha which is a mandatory order from my side and then coming to the Butter Masala dosa. This kind of dinner makes my day and Sagar Ratna always makes it to the best💕
Hem Joshi
pathetic food (curry wala Brinjal vegetable, uncooked bitter gourd vegetable, bitter gourd Rasam)
Shanky Paudel
Good place to grab quick bites, we ordered veg spring roll and chicken soup both were good. Staff was friendly and helpful. Keep up the good work.
Raj Singh
One of the best places for fine dining. I am a vaishnav and prefer food without onion and garlic. I must say this place is heaven for a vaishnav as these guys can prepare exclusive meals for you.
Sanjeev Garg
Very poor quality food is served by the restaurant.
Breads are so thick, you will end up eating the dough directly.
Please think before you visit here !
Abeer Sharma
Though they forgot to hand us the menu initially, the staff at this particular outlet is always very warm. Ordered the South Indian Platter this time. The quantity was sufficient for two people. However, I missed the authentic South Indian flavours in the Sambar and the coconut chutney. The uttapam was way too thick. Dosa and Idli were okay. The only thing that I really enjoyed was upma.
Yuvraj A Singh
The waiter was rude n casual , thus plates he was carrying fell while keeping on the table , oily mixed veg. The curd was fresh though . Wont be visiting again , after this waiter kept on grinning .
Hemlata Aggarwal
Food was not warm
Monu
Masala dosa is awesome. Rasmalai is very very costly according to taste and quality. I think sweets should be cheaper. Masala dosa should have two options, spicy and little less spicy.
Rupan Chhabra
Food is not at all good .Definitely, not ordering again. Have eaten once at the outlet, and now ordered.as a foodie, am disappointed again.food was absolutely bland.
Prateek Gupta
Mouth watering Sambhar..Wonderful Rava onion dosa...North Indian Thali was also good...best place to eat South Indian food...wonderful service.. courteous staff...
Sushaantverma
Very rude behaviour by staff, they straight away denied by Zomato gold 1+1 food offer.

Highly disappointed, zomato should keep a close watch on there gold restaurant partners.

Looking forward for zomato to take it seriously and take some actions
Prakriti Malhotra

Sagar Ratna is a famous chain in India serving eaters since 1986.
It started from a small 40-seater outlet named ‘Sagar’ in Delhi’s Defense Colony market to now outlet in every other city. Indeed a long journey so far. This chain is mostly famous for serving inexpensive south Indian delicacies to the foodies throughout country however as per my experience here in Chandigarh I prefer their North-Indian Dishes over South-Indian. The reason behind my preference is that they have added that Punjabi touch to their south indian dishes especially dosa’s filling and sambhar and after living in south india for so long and eating those authentic dosa with yummy coconut chtney and sambhar(I miss that taste ☹️), i found out that authentic flavor is missed here.

Ambience: It is pretty decent, family restaurant. There is nothing that will grab the eyeballs.

Food: So far I have tried their many north Indian gravy preparations(can’t remember all the names), however my always go to dish is their angoori kofta and matar malai methi with laccha parantha.

Now moving forward to their south-indian preparations, so far have polished my hand over masala dosa and rava masala dosa. Dosa are crisp from outside however as I mentioned earlier filling is adequate but wayyy soggy and taste wise if I will say it’s missing all the required flavors. Same goes with sambhar and that too the bowls that they use to serve sambar is verryyy tiny, hard to dip a bite of dosa in it(Don’t know what they were thinking while choosing them), they are just as small as chutney bowls that we use at home. I liked their coconut chutney that they serve as an accompaneint.
Last but not the least how can I forgot the hero dish that I most loved there, the DAHI VADA. Sometimes I visit this place just to have their DAHI VADA. It’s mouthwatering and scrumptious, perfect blend of flavor, it just melts in your mouth like butter. Must try dish of Sagar Ratna.

Service: Service Is pretty decent. Humble Staff. Sometimes preparation time is less, sometimes it will take time. It’s directly proportional to how full the restaurant is.

At weekends waiting time is at least 15-20 minutes, so always be prepared for that if you are visiting them on weekends, or if you are lucky enough then what can I say :P
Narinder Jain
good taste.. ordered paneer naan with gravy, excellently cooked naan with yummy gravy...
Tanya Dhanny Singh
This branch doesn't stand up-to to d mark as compared to other Sagar Ratna branches, quality very poor. Super oily food. Very miser in quantity.
Abhishek Vashisht
The place is good and I would like to rate it 3.5. Having stayed in south for a quite time its difficult for me to like South dishes in north as there is a huge taste difference. Still food was good. Their sambhar was almost same as Rassam or maybe they are serving that instead of Sambhar. Good for family visits.
Chandigarheats
Delicious dosas, variety in menu. they serve you customised dosa as well, like with separate filling of dosa.

Their north is also really good. Kesri halwa in desserts is delicious.

Staff is quick.
