Review Ashok Restaurant - Panjim

They only offer Mutton and Chicken Xacutti and beers. But if you're looking for an authentic Goan Xacutti, nothing beats this 3rd generation corner restaurant. Best to go in small groups of upto 8 to max 10 ppl.

Very yummy mutton xacuti (they serve only two dishes: chicken and mutton xacuti). Have it with kaatre pão. It's supposed to be a very authentic xacuti preparation, although I wouldn't really know. Lovely to sit here, sipping on a beer, or urrak (seasonal cashew wine). It's fairly small and the quaint interiors make you feel like you're in the 80's. It's located in the pretty Latin Quarter of Panjim - Fontainhas.

Whenever people ask me where to have authentic Goan food this is the kind of place I would like to suggest as it gives you a proper local Goan Tavern feel. A place where from Goa's ex CM to Rohit Shetty has visited for their famous chicken xacuti. In a world where people have elaborated continental menu this place serves only 2 dishes : Chicken Xacuti and mutton xacuti which are the perfect dishes you'd like to have with your beer

I enjoyed the Mutton Xacuti. Mutton is much tastier than Chicken Xacuti.

A paradise for gauti chicken xacuti 😍 A cozy little restaurant in the colourful lanes of fontainhas. They specialise in chicken ( gauti chicken/ desi chicken) and mutton xacuti. We tried chicken xacuti and chilli 🌶 feni cocktail. I would totally recommend this place if you’re in around panjim 😍

Nice restaurant for some local chicken xacuti, mutton xacuti with pao.

My goodness! What a tasty Xacuti! The mutton Xacuti was absolutely wonderful. The owner Vallabh is a local Goan who clearly understands the importance of keeping the taste authentic. He said "If I expand, the taste might not be the same". goes to show the man has his priorities in the right place. Absolute treat for the taste buds! Recommend this to anyone who wants to visit this place for the food. Easily one of the best mutton dishes I have had in my life.

Here you get one of the best mutton xacuti. It is a small place for drinks. Ambience is not great. More often than not by 7pm the xacuti stock is over.

One dish restaurant & bar. One of the best Chicken or Mutton Xacuti in Panjim. Very basic place, so don't expect anything fancy..

Cozy little place in Fontainhas, where you get some awesome and probably the best Xacuti(mutton/chicken) in Panjim. The man behind the Bar, Kitchen and who is also the Owner Vallabh ba'ab. He is the most sweetest person. All in all it's a go to place when in Panjim and one of my favourites too.❤️🙏

This place is a tiny, local bar with Uncles sipping beer over the newspaper at noon hours and I was literally the only female company they've got in a couple of days, I could tell by the looks!! #anythingforgoodfood Thanks to the 4 reviews they've previously got, inspite of the unfair zomato list that's showcased when you search for xacuti, I succeeded in finding it because God really wanted me to have this BEST CHICKEN XACUTI in the world. They don't have a menu. Just a few Desi brands of alcohol, some beers and chicken and mutton xacuti (which was out of stock) served with the local pao. This was a 3-bomb combo of flavors, the first of which explodes in the mouth, second moves down the oesophagus and third explodes in the belly. The spices are ground together combined with the coconut in the right proportions and they use Desi chicken which they probably breed by themselves. So full of flavors, even the chicken that's cooked in the gravy and has carefully absorbed all the lovely flavors of the spices makes it worth the experience.

Awesome mutton xacuti, my mom's favourite. . Even chicken xacuti is tasty when you don't get mutton as it gets sold out soon

The only 2 dishes on the menu are chicken and mutton xacuti along with your alcohol. But it's probably the best xacuti in town.

If you walk by, you'll see locals boozing away and sharing their catches or drops of the day. But if you walk in, you'll smell the xacuti. That's the only dish they make and it gets over within an hour of opening. Best to order the xacuti and pao and go home/hotel and eat. Unless you want some atmosphere and lend an ear to those unending stories of failure.

Being told by my local n foodie cousin about this place.... I parked at the GPO Panaji and walked down the lane to discover this little nook of pure taste bud happiness.. True to every word.... The mutton xacuti with pao was simply mind blowing... The proprietor Vallab was very welcoming, the food prepared by his loving wife all homemade everyday.... Must visit for every foodie by heart.
