Review Bombil - Panjim

Euston Fernandes
One of the best fish thali experiences in Goa. Absolutely delicious food, the spread is as authentic as it can get in Goa. Even the pickles were amazing. The best part was that they catered to our dog and gave us a bigger table during their busy hours of lunch. Thank you for the bowl and rice for our puppy. All in all we had a superb experience! Please do visit this place and you will be blown away by the food.

The fruits of patience are sweet goes the saying. We sure had to wait for around 10 mins but it was worth the wait..The Bombil restraunt serves the best varieties of thalis.. they have the traditional Urak and Feni as well which can be enjoyed with a scrumptious afternoon meal...the ambience is great and the staff is super amazing, very courteous and the service is quick... I visited the place with my family and they all absolutely loved the place... It's like an old saying "your tummy gets full but the heart is not satisfied " trust me every penny spent here was worth. Anyone visiting panjim for a lovely time with family and friends must surely visit Bombil πŸ‘Œ

I had the pleasure of dining at this exceptional establishment, and it's safe to say that it exceeded all expectations. From the moment we walked in, the staff's courtesy and kindness, with Kirti in particular, made us feel truly special. Their attentiveness to our requests and their impressive recommendations, especially the mocktails, set the tone for an unforgettable evening. The highlight of our culinary journey was the live crab dish, an experience that was nothing short of extraordinary. The fish fry, a local specialty, was unparalleled and left an indelible mark on our taste buds. The ambiance was equally impressive, with live music enhancing the overall atmosphere, making it the perfect place for a delightful evening. Given the popularity of this restaurant, it's advisable to arrive early, as it tends to get crowded. The promise of returning every day on my next visit to Panaji is a testament to how much I enjoyed my time here. The menu offers a wide array of dishes, and I can confidently say that you can't go wrong with any choice. The overall experience at this restaurant is nothing short of outstanding, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Panaji. Don't miss the opportunity to dine at this hidden gem. A big thank you to the Bombil team for making our visit a truly memorable one.

This is a great place, and very well designed! It is so popular that we had a waiting queue, and could get a table in about 10 minutes or so. Great food - fish thali, with kokum juice, shell Fish and a lot more Very professional and courteous staff and an experience to cherish and surely to return and enjoy it even more Thanks

Bombil in Panjim, Goa, is seriously awesome! They've nailed the Goan food game with thali-style goodness and all the local staples. The service is top-notch – the staff practically reads your mind and gets your order before you do. The place has this cool, rustic vibe with a Goan twist that just feels right. And get this – they write post-it notes on used crab shells. How cool is that? The flavors are bang on, and you'll keep craving more with their generous portions. They even serve water in copper cups, adding a touch of class to the whole dining scene. Be warned, though – it gets packed real quick. A 30-minute wait is the norm, but trust me, it's totally worth it for the Bombil experience!

Now I know what an authentic Goan thali tastes like. Nothing compares to the food Bombil Restaurant serves. We went there absolutely drenched just before their closing time but the staff were so kind that they allowed us to be served. The staff is high on positive energy and that radiates through the place. I regret not remembering the staff lady's name who kept interacting with us throughout and talked about the story of the restaurant. Very cheaply priced, food is seventh heaven. Delicious desserts too. A must visit.

During my Goan vacation, Bombil restaurant provided an unforgettable experience. We were late for dinner and it was almost closing time but the staffs were really polite and they gave us the best hospitality possible. Went there to try the fish thalli but they serve it only during lunch, but the staffs were kind enough to provide us with pickles and other stuffs. Tried pork and fish rava fry it was really tasty, and the Konkani songs played added to the extra positive vibes will definitely visit there again. A must visit place if you’re in Panjim!!

Need to look at them for serving tasty food with maximum customer satisfaction. The kingfish thali is a must try. We tried chicken, prawns, calamari starters and they were equally tasty. Good ambience and much polite staff. On the otherside, there are limited seats available. So you have to wait around 45 - 60 minutes to get the seats, if you are visiting during weekends. Then the price is but high, like seeing Rs 220 for a watermelon juice was surprising.

Delighted by the culinary treasures at BOMB-IL in Panjim, Goa! 🌊 The historical depth of this gem resonates in every bite. A feast unfolded with their fish thalis (Prawn, Bombil, Lepo), Chicken Cafreal, Squid Masala Fry, Mackerel Rachaedo, and the Saturday special – a wood-fired prawn curry, creating a seafood utopia. 🦐πŸ”₯ The unexpected joy of savoring Urak heightened the experience. Amidst the gastronomic wonders, the ambiance adorned with charming murals adds to the overall enchantment. 🎨 Arriving early is a wise move, as the lunchtime buzz attests to its popularity. In every aspect, BOMB-IL weaves a narrative of Goan culinary excellence, making it a must-visit destination. #BOMBILGoa #SeafoodHeaven

After a wait of almost 3-1/2 years we finally got a place to lunch at Bombil, without having to wait too long. If you are willing to wait in line every afternoon, then you can experience Bombil sooner. Once in, the dining experience is well worth the wait. Authentic (Catholic) Goan dishes which will ensure you return for more. My advice is to choose a day that isn’t too humid. The evenings, I am told, are less busy and probably pleasant, but, you won’t get served the thalis. No other restaurant serves a variety of thalis as many as Bombil does. All credit goes to Joseph (the proprietor) and his pleasant staff.

So far I can say that I have had the best thali here 😍. The prawn thali and the modso thali were amazing. This place gives you proper Goan Vibes as it's designed with many Goan antiques and a few Tibetan artefacts (which I found a little confusing), but the food was closest in taste to some of the authentic Goan dishes you can find especially Goan catholic food dishes. Like the fried Bombil, Brinjal pickle, Kald (soup) and a variety of other traditional Goan dishes. They also serve Goan feni which you can have with your food. And support other Goan vendors in terms of only Goan beers being available here. Overall I loved this place and I would re visit here with my family and friends. A true Gem in Panjim that sometimes can get overlooked because of its location. Visited this place again with my family in November, I must say it's still amazing and this time we tried the pork Amsol Thali, I kid you not you must try it you won't regret.

We were here for Lunch on a Sunday. One of the best fish thali in goa. We were lucky to get a table quickly. Food: It's really good. We had chonak and Modso fish thali along with Prawns Rawa fry. The taste was really good. Fish was fresh. Thali has lots of side items so you would definitely enjoy it. Service: We quickly got the table but it was very small and not so comfortable. This part is subjective as many people just wait for 20-40 mins. Order to table time is real quick. Atmosphere: The ambiance of this place is good but it's very small and congested. You might not be very comfortable at your table or it might be very chaotic. Overall I loved this place and would definitely visit again and recommend it to others.

Visited Bombil for the first time on a Friday afternoon and it was probably the best decision we made on our Goa trip. We visited the restaurant along with our pet and what struck us immediately was the the staff at the restaurant were so incredibly kind and accommodating. Great to have such a pet friendly restaurant in Goa. They got us seats away from the hustle and bustle where we could sit comfortably with our pet and eat. The food at Bombil is fantastic!! We ordered the white pomfret thali and the mussels rava fry. The thali was incredible! Each and every item on the plate tasted so good and paired well with each other. The mussels fry was so crunchy and delicious as well. We also ordered the kokum mojito but it tasted more of mint than kokum. That was the only minor complaint I had During our meal I paid special attention to how the staff dealt with the customers and it was very impressive. Very rarely do you see restaurants in India pay such attention to details where customer relations are concerned. Orders are always taken with a smile on the face and they're quick to apologise if there's even a minor delay in the food. Just incredible! Bombil will definitely be a go to restaurant for us in future

Bombil.. small outlet opposite Kala academy in panjim.
Staff is courteous.
If you are in Goa, this restaurant should be in your wish list for sure.
Homely Goan food is served.πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹
Fish is fresh and tasty but do try their veg thali also, simple yet scrumptious and affordable as well.

Great place to have some goan style food. The menu is limited. But the food is very tasty and the service is very friendly. We had the chicken thali, chicken xacuti and butter garlic squid. The food was great and the servings are pretty decent. Also the food is not extremely spicy, a big advantage when you are dining with kids. I want to go back and try their fish and mutton curries.

You get the best food from hole-in-a-wall eateries. And that is definitely true for Bombil, that sits, literally, in a slice of a wall adjoining the Military Hospital in Panjim. One trip to it and you would remember this place for a long time.
During the course of my stay in Goa, me and my colleague ate here 3-4 times, each time trying something new (menu gets handwritten on a blackboard). Ask the server for recommendations (and if he has coloured hair, say hello to Lokesh).
It is quaint, humble, you'd probably be sharing your eating bench with a total stranger, but it is the taste of the fresh catch that will hook you in.
Try the fish meal, the mutton meal, the rawa coated King fish steak and the Masala Calamari. The last two, I'd bet my last rupee on!
When next in Goa, show Bombil some love!

This restaurant was our accidental discovery. I am not from Goa, visited the place a tourist. I was looking for authentic place, which will serve humble food and then we found Bombil Restaurant.
The idea is avail people home cooked food, they do not have a chef. A lady cooks the food, they have fixed menu for a particular day, except of the sides.
Our thali consisted of Brown rice, prawns curry, Fish ambotik, kokum sharbat, dried fish/baby prawns fry, aubergine pickle, papad, raw mango, clams curry & a sabji.
For Staff, as I had already mentioned they were super friendly. Cost wise too very pocket friendly.

This place gives you a very friendly vibe. You can drop and and customize your food as per your mood and the staff would be more than happy to help you. I have fallen in love their Xacuti and Ros Omelette and Undo & Poe.

We ordered the local fish thali (Lepo fish) and a plate of bombil. The thali was very tasty especially the prawns curry. The bombil preparation was lovely as well. It was fresh and the rechad masala preparation was a delight to eat. A must go place for bombil lovers. The guy managing this place is very polite and courteous which adds up to the overall experience.

It is an absolute delight to eat at this place. The food is tasty, fresh and filling. The local fish thaali is a must try. Even the Ros Omelette is really good. The gravy served with the Omelette may not have chicken pieces but it's still very tasty. This place is easy on the pocket and the food is tasty. The staff is courteous. Although they have limited options to order from I would definitely recommend and would definitely visit again.

This place is for Goan food. The thali was stomach filling and the prawns rava masala fry were the best. The squids masala were very spicy the day we friends visited.

Fish thali was for Rs 160 (changes as per season). Was pretty much fulfilling the hunger. Thali had rice, prawns curry, tisryo, solkadi, raw mango, dry fish, papad, pickle, bhindi bhaji and piece of chonak fish which was small. Overall food was good. The place is small with around 5 to 6 tables. Helpful staff.

Small place right opposite the military hospital. Pretty little place with nostalgic touch.
Ambience of bombil was on point. Lovely wall painting. Reusing the old wooden doors has photo frames. Beautiful huge window to look out in the open for the cool breeze and viewing our brave soldiers in uniform has the pass by.
Food at bombil is average. We ordered the fish thali with white and boiled rice. The food was cold. Not something u expect from a place that has newly opened up. Maybe because they emphasizes on a quick service they provide a cold thali. We also ordered the pomfret fry which was hot spicy and good. The fish was perfectly fried no questions asked.
Service: quick prompt and friendly.

A must visit if your on budget friendly look out in panaji.

If all you want is great authentic Goan sea food fare, you should definitely visit i. It seems like a local favourite with plenty of local people (who seemed like regulars) frequenting the place for lunch & dinner even on a weekday. The food was great and the service was prompt. Go here to experience where the locals eat. Excellent sea food and drinks at very economical prices.
