Hotel Sri Kamatchi truly justifies the tag of being one of the famous and iconic restaurants in Pondicherry. It has adapted the ambience and facilities to suit the modern world demands but has very well retained the authenticity and taste in their food preparation. The aroma of the spices, freshness of ingredients and the culinary skills of their cooks are worth a appreciating.
We feasted on their
Nattukozhi Biryani - Flavourful spice-rich biryani with country chicken leg piece. I suppose the definition of biryani is different in this part of India, but the preparation was tasty nevertheless
Chicken Kamatchi - This was one of the most recommended dish looking at all the reviews, but we found it decent. Nothing out of the world to be honest, especially when compared to other dishes we ordered
Mutton dosai - This was the winner of the day for me - hands down! Simply loved the thick mutton gravy and the tender melt in the mouth mutton pieces.
A must try every time I visit Pondi! So, if you want to taste the flavours of Puducherry - don't miss out on Hotel Sri Kamatchi!
In pondicherry and have craving for non veg spicy food, then kamatchi is the place. Vegetarians don't visit. This is a quick meal restaurant. The food and service is super quick. Basic decor. Nothing to write about. Could be cleaner and more hygienic.
This is gem of a place in Puducherry. Biryani, meals, main course are excellent.

This place is a must try when you visit Puducherry.
The assortments that come with thali and biryani give you a true taste if this region. Loved the concept of serving rice-rasam after biriyani, thali served with fish gravy. If you’re averse to food too spicy, you could ask for butter milk assortment instead of rasam.
Excellent non veg hotel. Briyani taste is really good. Crowded but worth the wait. Fish finger, kamatchi fish, chicken are good. Overall a must visit.
Great local cuisine. Excellent seafood, prawns and crab. Tge chicken biryani was great too. Value for money. Worth a visit to try local food. No alcohol available.
If you prefer non veg in South Indian style while you are in Pondy, hands down this is the best place to dine. I actually prefer ordering in Swiggy than going to the restaurant because , the restaurant can get crowded at times.
Always the best. Ayeera fish curry, mutton sukka, fish fingers, crab masala and biryani all types are the best. Service is good. But crowd is too much and ofcourse we need and can wait for a good food. They are in 3 location and white town is beautiful ambience. This group of hotels Pondicherry comes under part of families of Sri Madurai muniyandi vilas.
Can't think of another place that serves better Chettinad Non veg food in Pondy.
A place you should just go and eat enjoying the food, not look around for ambience and decor.
Things you should have: Biryani of any sort. Kari/chicken/mutton dosa. Chicken/mutton parotta.
Nethili fry. Chicken/Fish Kamatchi. Kuzhi omlette (Stuffed omlette)of any sort. Mutton sukha. Non veg rasam.
The quantity of main course is way too much. Somehow they have cut down on the quantity of starters this past year, just justify the prize tag.
Yummy taste all varieties, just go with full hungry to taste all, brain the best, mutton items little hard, soups should try all times, overall ok
Hotel Kamatchi exceeded my expectations with its delectable offerings. The Mutton Biryani was a burst of traditional spices, while the Kuttu Parota and Egg Kuttu Parota added a flaky twist. The real star, however, was the Country Chicken—succulent and flavorful, making every bite a delight. A must-visit for those craving authentic and mouthwatering dishes.
We tried mutton biriyani, Kamatchi signature chicken biriyani. I won't say they are excellent. But it was good. Also tried sura puttu (subtle in a good way), kadai ( excellent masala), mutton also good in biriyani and side dishes... Prawn masala was moderate one ... Meen Kamatchi is another signature dish... Very satisfied with that one... Previously their Ilaneer Payasam was good... Now a days it's moderate... Still, it's one of the must try restaurants.... Service was good. They were very helpful in choosing items. They have huge car parking area at the back of the restaurant. You won't get some of the dishes at late afternoon... So better visit early..

I'd recommend the Mutton Biryani over the Chicken.....
it perfectly captures the Tamil biryani flavor. Both were prepared in the classic dum style..

We tried natu Kohli briyani, chicken 65 was Excellent, prawns kamatchi, natu Kozhi roast, white rice, rasam all were Excellent ans must try but crowded and need to wait for it we waited around 20 mins and it was worth waiting and had our lunch, quantity, price and taste all were excellent. 😎😄😄😄
Location: Located beside the flyover in 100 feet road.
Parking: Sufficient 2 and 4 wheeler parking. Securities can guide with the parking.
Ambience: Visited around the closing time 3.30pm. Not crowded. Got seats immediately. Seatings are less and they could get packed during peak hours. They have a waiting area as well. Decent Ambience !!
Service: Very Good. Gives proper explanation of each item in the menu and provided recommendations as well.
Food: Only Briyani and Fish starters were available during closing hours. I tried chicken briyani and Fish Kamatchi. Both of them are good but bit spicy. Fish Kamatchi is comparatively spicier. Briyani is made from seeraga samba rice and Fish Kamatchi comes with boneless small tender pieces of fish covered with masala.
Price: Decent price for the quantity offered. Must try place in Pondicherry

This is the best nonveg hotel. You will get veriety of non veg food . We tried fish meals and fish curry that was awesome. Though the place is crowded but you will get quick service. Waiting time is less. You may need to stand sometime to get your seat .

Best thing is they have CAR parking that's much needed in pondicherry.
