Review Artika Cafe Gallery - Pondicherry

travel love
The real joy of having French cuisine in an atmosphere far from France yet designed to perfection is here. Pondicherry being a nestled city, quite small in it's length and breadth on the map, Artika Cafe Gallery is a cosy option for a wide spread Sunday brunch with family and friends. The options listed on the menu are so refreshing and healthy for the hunger pangs. We had been here on the Easter breakfast, placed the order as follows : MiniMe, Kombo breakfast, Artika's CoCo, Chicken cheese Croissant sandwich and two scrambled eggs. For me the show stealer were, Chicken cheese Croissant sandwich, where the croissant is so soft and melts into the mouth with first bite. Artika's CoCo is as refreshing as any other drink during summers. The quality and quantity was sufficient for 5 of us. I would highly recommend those visiting Pondi to pick it as your next destination for breakfast / brunch. Though the items seem a bit expensive but it would be reasonable to the other French breakfast outlets in the smart city. Felt so blessed and contented on this holy day.

Loved this place.. A must visit place in my list anytime I go to Pondicherry. Amazing garden, food, taste and service. 👍 This place offers breakfast, lunch and dinner with options of sandwiches, salads, pasta, breads, eggs, hot drinks, smoothies, fresh fruit juices, fruit salsa, lassis, sodas, crepe’s, muesli and desserts. They do serve non veg with variety of options like ham, chicken and fish.

It's a quaint cafe , nestled in Bussy street. Food's good. The service is terribly slow.

I went there by evening 4 PM. I don't know why they didn't wipe their chairs and keep them clean. The tables and the chairs weren't that good. But I enjoyed their Mint Lemon juice. I loved it even though the cost was 120 rupees. They don't accept cards unless the order is equal to or above 300 Rs. So, if you wanna have some small bites, make sure you carry some cash. Can work with laptops. Nice comfortable place. Has an outdoor seating too. The ambience will be too perfect. Smoking is also allowed here. Cuz, they have Ash trays.

Its a very small cafe, located conveniently. The highlight here is the setting, It's peaceful and provides some rest from the heat. you'll have the opporrunity to eat good quality meals. Perfect place if you want to read a book and enjoy your coffee in silence.

The place has an old rustic charm about itself! It's nothing fancy but very tastefully made. You can sit in the open air and enjoy a nice cup of coffee or walk around and view the art pieces that are on display. Their croosaints were excellent!!

Located near the promenade, this little cafe cum photo gallery is surprisingly not noisy at all. Wall art and quirky posters add a fun element. I am giving it 5 stars especially for the ambience. Plus they have free wifi. Food was average, however service is quick. If you're in mood of spending a slow afternoon with a book, head to Artika.

Great ambience. Food is decent. We were told that the place provides excellent breakfast options.. We went in the afternoon and the place was not crowded at all.. The place has a casual feel with quirky murals...we didn't have the best experience with the food... We ordered ham and cheese pasta, ham tomato baguette, sweet Lassi, ginger pop soda, and Nutella crepes... Drinks weren't all that good. While the pasta was okay, the baguette most certainly needed improvement. The Nutella crepe was the crowning glory of the entire meal. I would revisit the place only to eat the Nutella crepe again.

Crepes is a must try. Baguette sandwiches are great too. I had ginger honey mint lime, which wasn't that great but for the prices the food was good enough. And great ambience.

During my three days of stay in Pondicherry last month, it was a daily ritual for me to have their ginger cake with black coffee or tea ! Loved every bit !

This place is nearby to A la creole. We had tuna fish salad, ratatouille pasta, ham & cheese crepe and house special hot croissant with vanilla ice cream and to down them all, beetroot and seasonal fruits smoothie. Salad was exotic. The pasta was reminiscent of the iconic movie of the same name. Crepe was delicious. The house special croissant was fresh from the oven and very soothing. The smoothie will definitely be the go-to drink for health freaks. Decor was classy. Service was fast. Though the prices are somewhat on the steeper side, definitely worth it.
Dr Sandipan Chowdhuri
We had the ham, cheese and fried egg sandwich. We also had a vanilla shake. Food was superb. Decor was out of the world, fairy tale like, dreamy stuff. Very cosy, at-home feel for the ambience. Definitely recommended.

I have been to this restaurant at the afternoon timing.....woww! This place was amazing....to just sit back and relax also for long conversation......they said they are closing this cafe....but I am not sure.....I ordered<br/>1. Tuna salad with brown rice.....this was good with lots of veggies in it ..<br/>2.pineapple lassi....this was really yummy....I loved it

Much wow. One of the best cafes i have been to with redpect to ambience, food and authenticity. Being in White Town, amidst a zillion options Artika still stands high. The rustic colonial imprints and the Indie furniture makes it all the more touristy. A must visit.

The place and the ambience was amazing<br/>You can do your work here with no distractions and it's a very very comfortable place if your are planning to study..<br/>When it comes to food coffee was okay but the sandwich I ordered the chicken was dry and it had literally 0 taste to it I was like I was chewing of a cardboard.

Its a mini wonderland kinda cafe.. Great place to have all day breakfast..<br/>We ordered -<br/><br/>• fried eggs with toast :- justtt yumm, specially the toasted bread was too good.. so crisp and tasty.. <br/><br/>•tomato & cheese sandwich :- another great dish.. yumminess of the homemade bread with sutle tomato and cheese flavor...<br/><br/><br/>•Tea & Coffee :- both were good..!! <br/><br/>P.s. - a must visit..!!!!

This is a quirky little place with a comfortable homey feeling to it. It's the kind of cafe you can spend all afternoon at, having a conversation or working on something.<br/><br/>We had :<br/><br/>Lemon & Mint Iced Tea - Standard flavour.<br/><br/>Pesto Pasta - Good sized serving, with toasted baguette. It tasted pretty decent.<br/><br/>Chicken and Egg Croissant Sandwich - Can't go wrong with a sandwich. We really liked the flavour of the chicken. It was pretty satisfying, even though it was a little over priced.<br/><br/>Milk Coffee - As good as it could be.
Avi
The place is quiet, and the crepes are good, but it's interiors and the seating has worn down with time, and it doesn't have much to offer in the gallery section either. Rather visit any of the other places in white town.

It's a beautiful place right on the open!<br/>You can sit here for hours and enjoy cups of tea while you work or read a book!<br/>There is a very lazy vibe about this place and ppl don't seem to be in a hurry here!<br/>I had their crossaint sandwich which was amazing!<br/>The place has a very old rustic look.<br/>Good place to go in the afternoons

I kinda don't know how to start my review for this cafe. If you enter the place, you might judge it by its ambience and might not wanna give it a try. The place is worn out in its own way. <br/>But, talking about food.. Ohh! its delicious, specially the crepes.<br/>Like they say, Don't judge the book by its cover.<br/>This place is a hidden gem in Pondicherry. <br/>The food is great. Please don't miss out on Lemon & Sugar Crepe. Its so satisfying to your taste buds. Pastas are great.. Croissants were really good. They were warm, fresh and buttery. <br/><br/>The place is a must try for their crepes. Its a quaint cafe with a pet cat roaming around all over.<br/>I had a great time with my friends and would surely recommend this cafe in White Town.

Really the worst place in pondicherry. Terrible cheese omelettes where the cheese was missing. Food was cold by the time it was served. Never go to this place.<br/>

A hidden courtyard, swirling bougainvilleas dancing down in the breeze to carpet the floor, walls and doors adorned with graffiti that ranges from cute to edgy; the Artika Cafe Gallery in White Town, Pondicherry truly is a hidden gem. This quiet and low key cafe is more of a local favourite than a tourist hotspot and probably the best French Cafe in Pondicherry.  But as it is with cafes in Pondicherry they are very particular about their timings and don’t usually stay open late or long! & They have limited menus on certain days. But the croissants and the cold coffee that I had were made fresh and tasted good.

Ambience : 4<br/>Service : 4<br/>Food: 3.8<br/><br/>A paradise for people looking for Pondicherry graffiti and yum food. We happen to stumble upon this place while taking a walk around the streets of white town. The property looks like an old-fashioned french colonial house. Inspite of the fading wall paint, the cafe is well maintained with ornate plants scattered liberally around the place. In a place with colourful walls and doors, Artika cafe exudes beauty in an vintage monochromatic ambience. The breakfast here is refreshing and healthy. The staff was polite and prompt with their service.

Artika Cafe is not your usual place to hangout or must visit cafes at Pondicherry. But it a lush cafe, with indoor and outdoor seating and is very quaint. The cafe is well known for its pancakes and crepes, and have light fillers like sandwiches and pasta on the menu as well. The service is good and so is the ambience - with greenery and graffiti combined! The crepes are very well made, and I would recommend anyone to try the same. The prices are reasonable as well, Cafe Artika makes a great place for a date, a hangout with friends, or some quiet time with yourself.

This one is a hidden gem in Pondicherry.<br/>While exploring the city in the Morning, I randomly found this beauty. Ok, so it looks kind of vintage but the food they serve is brilliant.<br/><br/>What I had?<br/>• Cheese Omelette <br/>• Pineapple Smoothie <br/>• Fruit Museli<br/>• Coffee<br/>• Croissant <br/>• Chocolate Brownie<br/>• Nutella Crepé<br/><br/>Everything tasted great. My only problem is the service because they have very less staff. If you havea bit of time, go & try them out.<br/>Cheers!!

<br/>Best place to enjoy with friends<br/>Happy food and happy life.<br/>Best place to sit and relax <br/>Quite costly. <br/>Served quite late. <br/>Atmosphere at its best!😁😊

Don't know what it is about this place - perhaps the magical forest like feel given the canopy of plants, or how cooling it is - a respite from Pondi's scorching skies. I always come back. It's a beautiful little place. Love the crepes. Love the sandwiches. Love the hibiscus soda. But more than anything else, the place is pretty darn amazing!

This place was just besides our hotel and we went there on PJs as it felt so homely. Everyone were in a relaxed mood and were having deep conversations. Nice artistic drawings were present all over the walls which had little paint and mainly was decorated by paintings. It was not so upscale as I felt it would be but it was cozy. The entrance was beautifully surrounded with greenery.<br/>We had cappuccino, sandwich and crepe here.<br/>Banana and nuttela flavoured cake was delicious.<br/>Tomato cheese sandwich was goey and perfect.<br/>Loved this place!<br/>

After a long Google map search we reached there around 5 PM. Looked pretty empty. Hardly anyone there. We ordered Baguette sandwich with tuna and boiled eggs, ratatouille pasta and ham & cheese crepe with pork. Though I didn't like pasta too much the other 2 were really good. Especially baguette. We also had one hot croissant with ice-cream. Though the service was pretty slow, It was really a nice experience with awesome food and I would love to visit this place again.
Ragav S
Bad experience, it's a very old cafe with less facilities, zero privacy and zero hospitality! No proper maintenance. Food served aren't good either! Worse experience. I personally recommend not to visit this place

Best crepes I have eaten till date. It’s a quiet and a small beautiful place <br/>Happy vibes <br/>Good place to find beautiful manifestation of art on the walls

It was hot chocolate and chocolate cake.. The hot chocolate was bomb🔥 and the chocolate tasted pretty good. But the cake was a little hard.. And i think it would have been much better if they had heated it. P.s- Try pouring some hot chocolate to the chocolate cake and taste, It was amazing.. personal experience😂😁<br/>Ambience- Amazing,But more fans and some mosquito repellents would help.. <br/>Pricing-₹₹ <br/>An average costing cafe with loads of privacy. The one thing I personally love the most is the privacy and the ambience.

The service here is great, and this is a good place to work. They have free wifi (that actually works) and a lot of sockets. <br/><br/>The combo breakfast is good, and you get a lot of food for a reasonable price.
Natalia Harstveit
Good food, nice ambience and people working here. I especially recommend the breakfast combo, it`s great value for the money! They also have good internet
Sophie
The food is so good and the service is great! I've tried the breakfast combo, which is huge. You get juice, smoothie, omelette, toast with jam and butter, and fruit salad. Also, the sandwiches are so good. <br/><br/>The place is nice and quiet. There is free WiFi so it's nice to sit and work her as well.

One of those French-ie places, where the antique architecture and decor will surely attract you, for me, however, the walkway to the cafe was a steal! Absolutely loved the rich vegetation there. Food was great too. Service was very slow, considering the fact that there was hardly any crowd at the time we went.
Vikram Rajpurohit
Excellent place with good affordable menu. The ambience is amazing and the place has both indoor and outdoor seating which are equally good and comfortable. It's a perfect place to have your breakfast and the orange juice and chicken salad pasta served here is a good choice to have a filling breakfast. Also, be ready to get amazed by a really pretty cat called Meenu.

The entrance to the place is totally unique and different with plants on both the sides and a small pathway that leeds you to the restaurant. Restaurant is a nice cosy place. It's like I'm am back in a period where tall buildings and railing roofs were common. Best part is the food and beverages, I'm at loss of words to describe the amazing tea, the bread sandwiches - finger licking good. Must visit place if you are in Pondicherry
Nini
This is just for the thai ice cream area. The ice cream itself is way too sweet. Not sure what they use since it is written sugar free on the board outside. The inside looks extremely incomplete. The people serving are quite unprofessional. Had to repeat several times before they listened although we were the only ones there. The ambiance is not particularly client friendly, nor are the servers.

Great breakfast in a calm atmosphere ! Really enjoyed having it. <br/>Mornings, the best time to visit...<br/>Accepting card transactions will be of lot help.

Went there for breakfast.<br/><br/>The place was pretty empty. Maybe I was in too early.<br/><br/>The place looks artsy and nice.<br/><br/>The staff was efficient and friendly.<br/><br/>The food was not good.<br/><br/>Did not like the coffee. And the nutella crepe DEFINITELY did not have Nutella. Definitely.<br/><br/>Value for money was not good cause the taste was really not good.<br/>

I had the best masala tea. Offers quite a lot of variety for a breakfast menu. Enclosed , serene place to be in the morning. The artwork on the washroom door is eye-catching :D

One of the most pretty places in town... Has been my haunt for many years... They have a short and sweet menu with some good shakes and great breakfast... They have an art gallery as well which has some good work to showcase every now and then....

Artika Cafe Gallery, is a hidden jewel amidst the most artistic locality in Pondi. The entrance to the cafe itself is stunning with greenery on all sides to welcome you, so get ready with your cameras for some really nice pictures. The passage leads you to the cafe which is extremely welcoming, quiet and cozy. The food is nice and the prices are reasonable. The card machine was not working and instead of creating any fuss, they asked us to pay the next time we visit the cafe, even though we looked all set to skip town. Upon getting back to them with the cash, they felt extremely guilty for putting us through the hassle, but their kindness is rare these days anywhere. The cafe itself is supremely artistic and beautiful. If you are looking for something movie like, to enjoy some good food, Artika Cafe is the place ....5 STARS !!!
Anusha Prakash
They have the most wonderful, quaint little space in Pondi. <br/>The whole place is really homely. The food was fresh and nice. Ordered one of the sandwiches and the watermelon fresh fruit juice. Very reasonable. For payment, they don't have a card option though. But great spot!

On the lines of relaxed ambience with rustic feel this Cafe offer good simple french breakfast. Loved the baguettes. If you end up ordering baguettes with butter and jam make sure to order extra butter and jam. Tried the chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream.<br/><br/>The overall taste was okay. But you can go in for a relaxed late breakfast with a book. They have an in-house store which sells handmade dyed clothes. Worth checking out. Highlight for me was the way they have written their menu.<br/><br/>Food : 3<br/>Location: 4<br/>Value for money: 3<br/>Ambience: 3.5

First look at Artika Café and you feel like you are in a slow motion video of some lost town. Time probably, literally stops here!<br/> Artika Café is one of the best places to laze around in Pondicherry.<br/> It is essentially a black and white shot, with a random table or two adding the colours. Dry leaves and white bougainvillaea decorate the courtyard, giving the feel of a never-ending autumn. The quietness here can be the brand ambassador for Pondicherry’s ‘Peaceful Pondicherry’ tagline!<br/><br/>This peacefulness is what drew us here and kept us here and what made us never want to get up and leave!
Akhil Gupta
I visited this place on 10th March 2017 for breakfast. This place is situated in the French part of the town and honestly was a pretty good experience. I and my wife are big time breakfast people and if we like a place for its breakfast we like it a lot. The place was not very crowded on the day we visited and surprisingly we were the only Indian couple there. If I had to describe this place it would be Quaint. The decor is natural and murals, wherever they are, have aged very gracefully. Long story short, if you want to take some really good pics visit here. <br/><br/>The food is good. We ordered a Ham sandwich (good), a lemon sugar crepe (really good), a cold coffee (good) and a black coffee (what could be wrong with a black coffee). The serving size could be a bit larger looking at the pricing but taste wise there's no problem. The lady who served us was really sweet. I mention this point specifically because any place which gets a lot of foreign visitors (looking at you Goa) starts treating us Indians a little less courteously.  That did not happen here.
Esha Nadkarni
It was probably a bad day with no electricity so only crepes were available. I had the Nutella crepe and my friend had a savoury one. We are what we liked but we're disappointed about not having the option of trying the other dishes.<br/>I love their set up, they also have a boutique in the premise.<br/>And their staff is extremely friendly and courteous.

Quaint and beautiful with a funky charm in every every element, Artika Art Galkery Cafe is truly an artistic endeavour at serving delicious good food, made with local ingredients, organic and fresh! <br/><br/>The walk into the cafe itself livens you up with an isle of dense plants and trees, lending a rather lush positive vibe that opens up into a gorgeous verandah where there is dispersed artwork here and there, colourful graffiti on the walls and a shed area too. <br/>The menu is handwritten on a huge handmade paper. Pretty creative and cute. <br/>It's limited offering a few items, good enough to not confuse you and watch out for fresh juices and smoothies here. <br/>Cold Coffee was made perfect. <br/><br/>We ate the Pesto Pasta and Ratatouille Chicken Sandwich and both were made well with subtle flavours, super fresh quality. <br/>The food reflects the positivity in this highly energised space of divinity with slight spunk. <br/><br/>Highly recommended for those on vacation or those visiting the city even for a day for it's reminiscent of the calm ideology of the French Quarters with simple food made well and the cool ambience isn't one to be missed.

Nice place to chill while reading a book or spending relaxed time. The cafe has beautiful French interior. Everything is coloured white making tye ambiance fit for relaxing. Their handwritten menu is something unique. This place is all worth it for ambiance. Food is fine. Go here to spend your lazy afternoon with a cooler or shake.

Decent food here, we came in for breakfast. Croissants and Ratatouille Crepe was good. Slow service. Ambience is decent.. Chilled scenes..Juice wasn't good.. Too much added sugar.

A cute little artisan cafe. Lovely to hang out. Great people. Great food. Great ambience. Had a great time here. Tried every crepe the place had to offer. Loved every bit of it. :D

This is a beautiful French cafe in White town and I am glad we came across it. <br/>Their is a nice outside dining area also an inside dining area which feels something out of an old French movie with the marble table and shabbily painted walls.<br/>Although they took sometime to serve the food, but it was worth it.<br/>To start with the Pasta Pesto was cheesy and amazing, the Basil was nicely cooked and the flavour was just perfect. The veg pasta salad was okay not too flavoured. The Croque Madame sandwich was also pretty good and cheesy. <br/>Overall it was a good and relaxing place with good food :)

I wanted something out of my routine for that day so I decided to pick a random place based on zomato reviews, this came up.<br/>Honestly, i was very impressed by the look of it. That atmosphere gave me an instant boost. <br/>The jumbo menu was a nice authentic touch and though the breakfast range was within limits, they seemed quite convincing.<br/>Me and my pleasant companion Jagan Cenation decided to go for the combo breakfast and crepe with a lemony touch and icecreams as we were starving.<br/>The food was served after a good 15 mins by a courteous old lady and i was quite taken aback by the quantity of it! 2 starving people couldn't finish it off! There were baguettes, french toast with a side of butter and a homemade jam that had a hint of ginger to it which was so inviting!!! Then was the traditional omelette and 2 tall glasses of fresh juices. One was watermelon and the other green thingy i still have no clue what it was😂 lol.... but both of them were refreshing, with a side bowl of fresh fruit salads! Where goes the toast without a punch if black coffee!? Unlike most cafes where i get hot water with just a fragrance, the coffee cut the deal real good. Finally the crepe with lemon sauce and vanilla ice cream, definitely a treat! All of u sweet toothed friends, give the desserts a try! <br/>Overall, definitely a MUST GO!

The place is great for a lazy lunch .... Just ask th lady out there for the food to select ....<br/><br/>Ambiance :3<br/>Service:4<br/>Budget : 800 (per two person )

He didn't ask them to take down their feet.

Pondichery white town basically the french colony offers you eating place at each corner.best part is most of the houses wid french architecture and simple menu will draw your attraction.first day only cafe artika we stopped, not so good in ambience but pasta was good,,but ambience was not so gr8

Artika gallery is one of the most pleasant dining experiences I've ever had. The narrow path through the entrance is covered with vegetation on both sides and makes for an instant refreshment. The place thumps of art and seats a photo gallery inside. The wall sketches and greenery are amazingly fresh. The ambience can bring the creative juice out of any artist. The terrace is simple and the whole construction rich with age. <br/><br/>The management is very welcoming. They are very normal people, serve with a smile and make you feel humble. They create a soothing environment to relax in.<br/><br/>Coming to the food, I was already full by the time we reached here so I couldn't try out much. The green smoothie I ordered tasted good without the rawness of pulpy vegetables, although that's what it was all inside. I've tasted green juices before, and this was more bearable than many others.<br/><br/>Price wise, a sumptuous lunch is not so feasible, but the place isn't really made for it. Artika is a place one can visit in leisure, but visit one should. It's far better a place to cover than the museum or a busy beach.

This cafe and its ambience made for the most memorable afternoons of my trip.  A beautiful, serene cafe with chic interiors- from the white patio furniture to the hand-made Menu : this cafe shouts "Cozy"<br/><br/> <br/><br/>*Food* <br/><br/>I ordered a Ratatouille and Cheese Baguette Sandwich which was above average (for the lack of words). The cold coffee and Ice Tea were good- particularly on the hot afternoon. In all honesty, my 4.5 for this restaurant are not for the food. I'd suggest trying out the drinks though.<br/><br/> <br/><br/>*Ambience*<br/><br/>That's where  this place got all its points!!<br/><br/>The place was so beautiful and peaceful, I just couldn't get myself to walk out even though I had gone to Pondicherry only for a day and a half. True to the purpose of my visit- this place was 100% relaxing- a place you could go for a brunch date or just to read a book by yourself. <br/><br/> <br/><br/>*Service*<br/><br/>Even though it took them a little while to get my order- the in-house pop-up shop kept me busy. From Pondicherry souvenirs to hand-made artefacts to beautiful rustic furniture- the store had it all. <br/><br/> <br/><br/>All in All- a MUST- Go, if you ask me!!<br/><br/>

A cool cafe hidden in the amazing roads of white town!! A chill place!! Staff is quiet friendly and the place is quite appealing!! Would name dis plce as tge rusty cafe!! Quite a rusty and a different atmosphere just loved the place 👍🏼<br/>Must have the fresh fruit juices!!

All I ate there was the ratatouille and cheeses baguette, it was so good I had 2! I can definitely recommend that. Not sure of the other food options. Was empty when we went which we didn't mind ! But I think it was because we went in between lunch and dinner.
Fuckyou
The service was good but the food was a let down. The drinks are relatively recommendable while the ambience is amazing. Perfect to get lost in a book or catch up with friends.

This hideous cafe located in white town provides a noise proof environment for relishing the french cuisine on offer. The mango lassi was fresh with a tinge of tang; the ratatouille crepe , the chicken cheese pasta salad and the cheese omelette were a delicious lot. The baguette served along was buttered. <br/>Satiety achieved for the hunger but not for the heart. <br/>Overall, a great place to hangout with friends over breakfast or supper.<br/><br/>Bon AppĂŠtit!!<br/>

We visited as a family of 15 people and loved it.... Quaint little joint.... Served our purpose of hanging around.... Masala chai a must have... Our only reason to visit probably 4 times in 4 days..... Located in an undescript lane with easy to miss entrance...

We have become regulars at Artika. Great coffee and friendly servers. My daughters love the baguette sandwiches and I'm smitten with the fruit salad. The poet in me loves the courtyard setting too.

This place is a real artistic restaurant! Its art on all walls and all places! Their menu card is a huge canvas with a painted menu! Food is real good here! The breads, jams are all made there.<br/>I will recommend the Artica's coco (coconut water ginger lemon honey) drink! Yum! Recommending all the fresh juices! Pulpy and mmm! <br/>The sandwiches are good here !

Friendly staff but not the really conversant enough to deal with custom orders. Good crĂŞpes; good smoothies; breakfast combos are not worth the cost. You're better off ordering the other stuff.

The place resembles more as an Art gallery which serves artistic coffee at breakfast.<br/><br/>The place is decorated with artist paintings and has a small collection of naushad ali branded clothings.<br/><br/>The menu is unique 2 feet cardboard unlike other menu.<br/><br/>We had a sip of Masala chai followed by Masala omlette along with bread and cheese which were great. Service is good.<br/><br/>Do visit for a unique experience here without much expectation.<br/><br/><br/><br/>

Woke up to my friend saying talking about a cafĂŠ gallery for breakfast. It is always liberating to have people decide places to eat sometimes! So after my vegetarian friend finished her dosa galore, we headed for our kind of breakfast (no I'm not dosa's type). However we followed Google Maps directions to find this place, and realised we have already crossed this place, but it was quite hidden treasure that we missed in the night while we walked past it.<br/>Anyhoo, this is a place which happened to be someone's bungalow, had a tree-covered narrow path leading to the cafĂŠ. It was the calmest place that we came across I guess. No I am not only talking about noise, I am talking about the white wall, the serenity of an old house. We chose to sit outside in the verandah. There was not much people there when we went. But later on people started pouring in.<br/>Ordered my favourite *Scrambled egg with my set of own instructions & orange juice, and my friend ordered *Ham omelette. We discovered a new kind of drink here called *Flower Syrup Soda (quite self-explanatory)! While I anticipated for my scrambled egg to reach to me thinking if they would get it right or not, we went on exploring the place a bit (I will let the photos do the talking about the place).<br/>The scrambles egg reached my table finally and it made me smile! They had nailed it, semi-moist with little cheese and not fully cooked (does not mean half-cooked though, half cooked eggs are my pet peeve). Well to sum up whatever we had ordered that day including the flower syrup soda (uncannily looked like roohafza but tasted better than that) were amazing and humble, just like the place. Very much fuss free. The people here are quite warm and we left with a fuzzy feeling in our hearts only to come back the next day for breakfast, which also happened to be the last day at Pondicherry.<br/>I was quite confident this day at ordering knowing they would not get it wrong. I had ordered *Masala omelette without tomato and lots of chillies. He was very confused when he heard my order as most people ask them to do the opposite! But my omelette had enough chillies for me to be happy and not run around!<br/>Also we tried the *Sugar-Lemon CrĂŞpe, which was a complete fuss free crĂŞpe, and I must tell you it was amazing. The amount of sugar and lemon were perfectly balancing the not-so-sweet and tangy dish. Must try!<br/>Well what I tried to say in all these words that we are bunch of people who get very happy with nice basic food and warm people given there is a fan on above our heads in this heat. And we got that here with extra bit of aura of this very simple place!

This is more of an art gallery than a cafĂŠ, but no one is complaining. Given the lazy charm of the French colony, this place provides an ideal abode for artists, tourists and book lovers. I spent a quiet afternoon here on my last visit to Pondicherry, amidst art adorned walls and had a lemon black tea with a delicious home made ginger cake. Definitely a must visit for all art lovers!

Artika is an oasis for students, tourists, musicians, poets, painters, artist-wannabes and people watchers. It is often deserted on the mornings when I visit - the other continental cafes in Pondy seem to have far more walk-ins. I can only assume the regular patrons prefer to visit in the cool of the evenings. But this is exactly the best thing about this haunt; the soothing ambience and good coffee will ease you into your day, or out of it. <br/>The French pastry is excellent, as are the baguette sandwiches. I loved the sandwich made by placing cheese and tomato slices between halves of croissant, shared with Marea. Their home made orange ginger marmalade must be sampled, preferably on a fresh-baked croissant, with a pot of Earl Grey tisane. Do avoid the coconut water drink: it sounds good in theory, but is overly sweet and syrupy. The crepes are soft and buttery, the fresh fruit salads usually are fresh. Vegetarians, be warned: the chef is not too understanding of requests for eggless crepes or cakes.

On a lazy Sunday, we arrived at Artika cafe gallery at 11, when most places had stopped serving breakfast. Entrance to the cafe, plants along the pathway, artistic paintings here and there, classic images framed on the walls make the cafe very welcoming and comfortable to hang out for a longer time. The menu is also averagely priced, except the soft drinks. The hospitality was good and the breakfast was tasty as well.
