Review Surguru Spot - Pondicherry

Ankitha Ravi
Very good vegetarian food in Puducherry. Absolutely tasty and quantity of the food is also on the higher side, quite stomach filling. We ordered mushroom soup, panneer 65, corn pakoda, phulka and aloo gobi, butter milk. Everyhing was delicious, piping hot and filling.

Taste n service remains top notch. Only issue is parking. Rest all is good. Cost wise as well it's affordable. All service staffs are good n doing great job. Keep it up.

Visited with family for the lunch, lucky to get the seats for lunch. A day before visited for dinner, unfortunately did not get seat. Place is too small, that's why the seats are very limited. OMG service is very pathetic, u need to ask for multiple times for anything. Asked for water, had to wait for 15 mins to get it. Cost of food is little expensive. Tried the north Indian thali, it's overpriced. I don't see much items in it to pay for 270+ . Even for paying bill had to wait for long time . If we want to spend more time in the area, then good place to have food.
Ajay Singh (ajaypix railwaterman)
Nice veg place. Do try their coconut milk paysam (cold) and panakarkondu milk (hot)
Ibanrisha Nongkhlaw
This place is suitable for families. It is a pure veg restaurant. The ambience is quiet and nice. The food is good and simple here. It offers good South Indian food and other cuisines as well. We had the masala dosa and the special fifa idli and they were both good especially the chutneys. The service is very good.
Amrutha Venkata
Our experience at Surguru restaurant was great! We stopped there for lunch and thankfully had space for car parking at the entrance. We got the business lunch, North Indian lunch and a chapati set. The quantity was huge and the taste was amazing! The North Indian lunch, in particular, was very tasty. The ambience is quaint and the service is good too. Would definitely recommend visiting.
Kumar Nityan Suman
Good family place for vegetarian delicacies. A quick stroll from the rock beach is a plus. Very pleasant staff. The ambiance is calm and peaceful. Food is delicious and pocket friendly. I always visit every time I'm in Puducherry.

One good vegetarian restaurant in Pondicherry near the Museum. They have South Indian and North Indian dishes - juices, ice creams etc. It was morning time, kind of a busy day, but the staff helped us to find a place to sit, and served. Clean maintenance & parking available in the street. Manakulam Vinayagar Temple is nearby. The beach is within walking distance.
preeti jain
This place serves your comfort food. The waiting time that they told was really too long like 30- 40 minutes but having heard about this place so much, we felt like giving it a try and the experience turned out to be amazing. Instead of waiting for 30-40 minutes, we got a table within 5 minutes. We ordered daal, roti, sabzi, raita, malabar parotha, everything was so delicious. The prices are so reasonable, the service was good too. Especially after a tiring day, the food will satisfy your hunger.
tejas balachandra
Best place to have south indian breakfast in Pondicherry. Prices are reasonable. AC dining with good service and quality food.

We went there for Launch and i can say their service was good with Heritage vibes and interior design . When we went it was almost empty . We ordered South Indian Thali and it was good in taste . It comes with Chapati, papad, curd, sweet pickle , rice bowl, Sambar , rasam and other 3 vegetables . Each of them was good in taste. Also they gave water glass for drinking water . They have Hand wash facility and behavior of the stuffs were good . But i felt somehow it could be better in taste . I also liked the Mission street outlet than this spot one . Though it was good not bad . You can try . Additionally you can get various south Indian dishes , breakfast and tea .
Chandrasekar Rajaram
Very tasty dishes, vegetarian south Indian. Lunch, both south and north thalis, sumptuous. Service, a bit slow. Crowd because of its popularity, results in waiting for seats. Prices are a bit costlier than normal.

Hotel Surguru is located three more spots in the Pondicherry but this one is located in Nheru street next to the manakula vinayagar temple. I used to go here whenever i wanted to have veg food, all the time it's very crowded. They could arrange sofas or chairs for people who waiting to get a table. Both South and North Indian foods are available especially sounth Indian meal is amazing here. Cost is moderate...staffs are seems to be friendly. I like the Pondicherry city map on their door. Overall its a good choice for families and vegetarians and quick bite for kids.
Dinesh Vasu
Tried keera vadai in the evening it was just ok. Dinner items are good with taste. Service not bad.
Aaseem Sood
Went to Surguru spot for a late lunch and were happy to have our South Indian meal.<br/><br/>We ordered a Masala dosa and mix veg uttapam with a lemonade.<br/><br/>Food tasted great and service was excellent.
Shraddha Bhowad
I visited this restaurant since many visitors had recommended it and it was very close to where I was staying. All Surguru branches are located close to one another and are always packed. I found this place comparatively less crowded.<br/><br/>Its kind of dark in here. I went there for only one item and that was Paper Dosa. I ordered orange juice to go with it. Service is moderately slow here. The food was okay as well. Instead of Dosa, I liked their chutneys best and wanted to know what were they. The person waiting my table knew what he was delivering and told me right away. There is a single seating place for solo travellers like me, the thing I liked most.<br/><br/>I am not sure if I would visit this place the next time, but I didn't dislike the experience. That's the takeaway.

Don’t go unless you have no other option.

What’s wrong with these restaurants in the south? This idiot gave me the menu card, i called him after deciding what to have, i told him what i want to have, he said 4 of the 5 items arent available. So i asked him to give me two mins, then this thambi says “ i gave the menu card ten minutes ago and you havent decided yet?!” Seriously? These pondy restaurant guys are here only to suck their french bosses’ *^%^. Lol. First mysore, then bangalore, and now pondy. People up north are real friendly people. ( I am a hyderabadi btw) NEVER EVER visit this place. Food sucks too....
Sruthi Arvinth
Must try in Pondicherry...😍😍😍 Best place for veg food and been there lot...🤩🤩🤩 All the dishes are really good but need to improve with service providers..
Pooja Bhat
One of the best place in Pondicherry for N amazing thali. That too unlimited thali for RS 160. Even better was the taste and service. Will definitely recommend people who want to enjoy good food.

Been to Pondicherry 3 times. Visited this place 8 times and up already. The food is so nicely made, like a much tastier version of home food. And the staffs are super friendly and are always up for recommending good options. The place is clean and hygienic which is the first thing you look for. 5 stars for this place. Recommended to all.
Ketaki Kocharekar
We had our breakfast on last morning in Pondichery. We ate onion rava dosa and plain dosa and filter coffee. The food was good. Ambiance was good and staff was courteous. Only thing I found odd that in onion rava dosa they have added onion separately inside, as in Mumbai it is cooked with the dosa and blended in it.
Nikhil
Overpriced and Under-served. The food was not up to the expected mark and quality considering the price. The service was also poor. Staff were conversing loud enough among themselves which disturbed the ambience.
Cozfoodlovesus
Surguru spot ! Is located very near to manakula vinayagar temple. The ambience is good . I had pongal vada , sambar vadai and my favourite ghee roast😍 Ghee was present in all these dishes which gave a yummy taste! Finally i ended up with coffee which was so good ! So ppl visiting manakula vinayagar temple and especially who wants vegetarian food can hunt this place!🙏🏽
Anshul Chandak
Excellent restaurant also located in White Town, just next to the entrance of Sri Aurobindo Ashram. You can have lunch at Surguru Spot and go to visit the ashram or vice versa.<br/>One of the best restaurants in Pondicherry.
Meera Venkat
Very poor service.<br/>Wasted 20 minutes for a single water bottle.<br/>Only foreigners are given importance. <br/>Have never seen such a racist restaurant
Saravana Kumar
Don't go if your skin is not white. They will treat you like shit. Worst service. Stupidest servers and supervisor.<br/>You will end up shouting and wasting your energy.
Sowndarya Vijayakumar
Very poor service.<br/>Never seen such a racist restaurant. Only Foreigners are given importance. <br/>Indians are not given importance for in an Indian union territory sadly! :(

It was a good evening and after we visted the pillayar temple my best friend and I decided to have dinner and wanted to try a new restaurant other than a2b in that area. We searched for a place and found this one opposite to a2b hidden behind some trees.<br/>Their tandoori idlies was suggested to us by the waiter and they were different and good.<br/>Had the Roti and panneer and they were okaishh nothing special there.<br/>And for dessert we ordered the carrot halwa. Was ok too. Too much sugar for our tastes.<br/>So overall was an ok place to hang out. Cool ambiance btw. Old school ✌🏻<br/>

Surguru, as a hotel might be good, but the staffs and the manager are very unfriendly and impolite to people.. We walked in to the hotel and took a table for 4. There were no staffs around and we did not know there were people waiting for tables. The staff (or) Manager, (did not know who he was) asked us to clear the table immediately. In a very rude way. There has to be some table manners taught to such ppl. He could have said that in a polite way, we would have given up the table. But such impolite and rude behaviour towards the customers could not be accepted. They treat ppl like they provide free food. Not really a to go hotel. I would definitely not recommend to any of my friends or relatives. NOTE TO HOTEL: First learn how to treat your customers. Good luck.
Kavitha
We went for lunch around 2.30pm . Place is bit complicated for new comers and it is exactly behind manakula vinayagar temple. Restaurant was bit crowded. We ordered paneer tikka, Roti, paneer butter masala, malai corn , fried rice and brownies. Paneer tikka was too good. Paneer was very soft . We asked for wheat roti but I noticed that only 40% they used wheat and 60% maida. Butter paneer masala was too watery and paneer pieces also very small cubes. Fried rice is ok . And kids enjoyed brownies. Bit overpriced too.
Voraneha
Not the best of places for South Indian....went for lunch time n most of the items were not available. Had dosa but was not that good either. <br/>
Saket Jain
Soul satisfying food. Their south meals are just amazing. Must try. A must visit eatery around promknade beach. All south dishes are prepared delicately and taste really nice and authentic.<br/>Super charged staff and prompt delivery.
Sanad Girotra
Excellent food and good service. Ordered mini ghee idli and rava masala dosa and would definitely go there again for the same. Also ordered cold coffee and it was perfect.
Arjun Lakshmana Balaji
The ambience is very simple. The wait staff are courteous and nice. They assist you in making the selection of your dish. We ordered keerai dosa, Kanchipuram idly and ghee roast. This was traditionally accompanied by us with a filter coffee order. The dosas were good. It was served with two chutneys and a sambar. They also gave us a tomato onion sabji/paste with it which I felt was given to us straight from the fridge. Idly was alright. Coffee was yummy. One thing I noticed was the price of the dish. Their intention is to add GST and make it a whole number.
Aishwarya Devaseelan
The place is quaint and small.<br/>We ordered mushroom soup, veg cutlet, masala dosa, tandoori idly and parotta.<br/>The mushroom soup was too good. The mushroom was extremely tasty - probably sautéed or precooked before I guess. But we felt the quantity was less for the price.<br/>The veg cutlet was the usual though it dint have the oil squeezing out like most places.<br/>The masala dosa was good but what was more impressive were the chutneys accompanying it - the usual white and red chutneys with an onion-tomato thokku.<br/>Parotta was awesome and flaky. The side dish was mildly spiced and went well with it.<br/>The tandoori idly turned out to be 3 idlies deep fried and served in a bowl of tandoori masala.Found it extremely yummy and different.
Divya Pasumarthy
Here is one gem of a South Indian restaurant; everything I tasted here, from the naans and paneer to the authentic dosa and vada was great. I loved their chutneys the most, especially their onion chutney. A must visit!
Archi C
Really nice ambience! Had filter coffee and masala dosa here. Authentic south Indian cuisines, high footfall and low waiting time. Would recommend to people looking for South Indian food in Pondy!
Sahanaa
Very nice place for a happy family function dinning. Vegetarian food served. Staffs are polite and customer friendly. Menu is quite limited. Don’t miss the special tandoori idly. It’s really yummy 😋
Vinay D S
Best place to have authentic South Indian cuisine. I had been here for morning breakfast and the food was so delicious. We had idli, vada, pongal and ghee roast dosa. They serve you authentic samabar, coconut chutney, tomato chutney. Overall a great experience. Restaurant is clean and well maintained. Seating arrangement are really good. Service and staffs are good. Anjana Dwarakanath

This place is located very close to manakula vinayagar temple. We ordered poori, sambhar Vada and carrot halwa. Satisfied with the quality of food and service. Price is reasonable too.<br/><br/>
Dipti Ranjan Mohanty
We had North indian meal and side dishes, it was good, but I felt there specialty is South Indian Thali. Food was tasty and service was good, it would be very rush during weekends, so you have to wait a bit.
Prateek Juneja
Location of this place is top notch, just near to museum, raj niwas and rock beach.<br/>Seemed decent restaurant according to some known people, hence decided to pay a visit.<br/>The ambience is well done and cleanliness at its best.<br/>Ordered veg subz pulao, Lichi kulfi with malai rabdi and lassi <br/>Subz pulao being made with ghee was a cherish able meal with suttle taste of the garam masalas.<br/>Lassi was tasty and refreshing.<br/>Disappointed with the dessert, their was no litchi kulfi and rabdi was thin as full cream milk, truly disastrous for a person like me,<br/><br/><br/>
Abhinav Shukla
Very pleasant ambience. Ordered idly and it in itself wasn’t out of the world, but it was accompanied by 4 different kind of chutneys and Sambhar which made it worth it. U can order all the chutneys and sambhar unlimited ;) the ; star is actually because of filter coffee. A must try !!
Divya Verma
Visited this place a couple of times as its rated one of the best for authentic traditional food. Was definitely satisfied with quick service and had happy meals thr. Must visit when you are in Pondicherry.
Jeeva
Tried Veg thali and Surguru special Thali,Food was Good,Particularly buttermilk they serve for thali was too good.N.K (Ramesh kumar) kind enough to service us.Soothing ambiance over there.
Tanvi Shah
Basic as such did not really enjoy the food here . The waiter and the manager did bot properly understand our request . Food was ok a few chutney was limited and couldn’t be given again

Last weekend, myself and my friends went to Pondicherry. We were near Manakula Vinayagar temple during lunch. My friend suggested to have lunch in this restaurant and went for it. This place is easy to locate. Near to the Manakula Vinayagar temple. Parking need to be managed in nearby roadside.<br/><br/>Ambiance is decent. Old building maintained well. It was almost full but got table easily. Service is decent. No complaints. Ordered mushroom soup, tomato 🍅 soup and meals. Food ordered came in reasonable time.<br/><br/>Mushroom soup was hot and thick. Taste was excellent. Meals consist of rice 🍚, chapathi, Poriyal, 2 kootu, dal, sambar, rasam, paayasum, appalam, one variety rice, kurma and curd. Chapati, kurma, 1 kootu, rasam, paayasum are excellent. Remaining are decent. Keerai kootu was short of salt. Overall satisfying experience.<br/><br/>Price is reasonable. Value for money 💰. This place is not for spicy food lovers.
Murali Vepadharmalingam
Good south Indian food. They have dosai, idli, pongal and other south Indian mainstays. Thali platters are also available. I loved their chutneys (three kinds) and sambar. Good coffee and tea. Service was good and the tables were clean.
ZenINflavors
Went there during peak lunch hours. As expected, there was a waiting period for a table. But what was sad was that the staff was overwhelmed and confused because of the constant rush, so the tables weren't getting clean properly, the staff was serving wrong orders and forgetting orders. Yes, all these 3 things happened to us.<br/><br/>We ordered 2 thalis, 1 masala dosa, 1 poori bhaji and 1 medhu wada. I would say the food was decent with no reason to complain but also not worth writing about at the same time. Maybe the outlet was having a bad hair day ;-)
Baladev Satish
A nice looking ambience.<br/>A place to hang out for pure vegetarians.<br/>Firstly one of the good friendly staff, needs a special mention.<br/>Food is pretty good.<br/>Surguru meals is something to try here, noodles was something a must try and parothas and kurma in this region will always be good.<br/>Overall a good experience.

Best place to start your day with south Indian breakfast<br/>Though the menu is limited the dishes were good<br/>1) vada-5/5<br/>2) ghee roast -4.5/5<br/>3) mini idly -4/5<br/>4) idly - 3/5 ( wasn't served steaming hot)<br/>5) coffee -4/5<br/>do try the tomato chutney !!!<br/><br/>--SaRah<br/><br/>

Visited this place for Dinner, didn't want to have anything too fancy. Ordered North Indian Cusine along with some starters. Ordered Gobi Manchurian along with Paneer 65 for starters. <br/><br/>Food - 3.5/5<br/>Ambiance - 3/5<br/>Value for Money - 4/5
Aditya Raj Gontia
Went for breakfast to this place, this place has 4 outlets in Pondicherry.<br/>Menu was limited for breakfast and was recited to us.<br/>We ordered pongal wada (spcl here), idli wada and ghee masala dosa with filter coffee and lime water.<br/><br/>Must say taste and presentation were decent.<br/><br/>Serve could be better. Response time is not that good, thry need to be proactive. Though manager was well behaved.<br/><br/>Must try for south indian items.
Roshan Nair
nice place with air-conditioning to beat the humidity. regular vegetarian fare at reasonable prices. service is prompt. the chola bhatura is avoidable though.
Sushruth Kaparthi
One of the best rated Restaurant in Pondicherry <br/>Though i felt some discomfort with the service <br/>But the overall quality and tasty of the food made me satisfied <br/>Prices are reasonable <br/>The only drawback I feel is the choice of menu<br/>Must try - Gobi 65 , American cheese balls, Mushroom Kadai Masala, Mushroom Soup
Siddhu Jagan
This restaurant is located very close to Manakula Vinayaga Temple. They have turned a old French House into this restaurant. Ambience was very dull 👎<br/><br/>Food Ordered: Sambar Vadai and Palak Poori<br/><br/>Sambar Vadai - This is usually served with two vadais but I asked for one piece of vadai. Sambar quantity was huge 👍 but vadai size was very small and tasted average 👎<br/><br/>Palak Poori - I opted this as suggested by the person who took my order. Poori tasted very good especially with Thokku like spicy chutney 👍👍<br/><br/>Service was friendly and attentive 👍<br/><br/>Price - Paid 115 rupees for the above items. Sambar Vadai is not worth for 35 rupees but Poori is definitely worth 👍
Kunal
Ordered multiple South Indian specialities. Most of them were fantastic specially the vegetable kurma. However some dishes made our experience go down the drain. Sambhar rice was more like masala khichdi. Litchi kulfi has a canned piece of litchi which had gotten spoilt. The credit card machine doesn’t work. To top it all when we shared our concerns and honest opinion about the food with the manager, he just wasn’t ready to listen and disagreed throughout. The staff definitely needs more training in customer grievances. Overall - the place can be avoided.
Ekta Singh
Amazing south indian food. Great chutneys great sambhar. I ordered palak paneer dosa, it was delicious. Do visit if you are in Pondicherry, they have 4 outlets there.
Mukul Kulkarni
A nice and quiet place for breakfast as well as lunch and dinner. The south Indian dishes are very tasty, especially try the Masala Dosa and Onion Utthappam. Do not forget the cocunut chutney with the South Indian dishes. Service is fast and cordial though the staff seems to have a problem in understanding Hindi so better converse in English
Vernon Fernandes
Visit this place for gud authentic south indian VEG food and snacks. The Veg Thali is a must try should you be around this place around lunch time. And yes the food is very very afforable.
Rahul Sardana #yummyinmytummy18
Must have - the South Indian style thali <br/>Surguru a pure veg Restraunt- has 4 branches in pondi and it's amongst the only few places where we could enjoy some what close to typical South Indian food 🥘.<br/>They mostly serve only unlimited South Indian style thali in the afternoon at a very competitive price of 130-160 rupees . <br/>Their rasam of the whole lot in the thali is to die for . <br/>Their servers too most of them are very nice 👍 and are on constant look out for you to refill your dish .<br/>Overall a must visit if you okay with the not so luxurious ambience for some good veg food .
Deepa Nair
Food tastes good and authentic especially sambar. Filter coffee was very nice. Mini idli is a must try. But what irritates you is the service that is slow and served by very rude waiters.
Sameer Oberoi
Pathetic service..Slowest and after 30minutes manager said no daal and order something else..<br/>Didn't even gave naan..Never go to this place..I came back Hungary with family and then ate food at a2b..
Shradha Uniyal
Very bad service,if you want to repeat your order,it will take 20-25 min and management is least bother and acting as if they are not even aware about the order.<br/>Waiting for 25 for the order and management is not even aware that food is over in the kitchen..<br/>Not at all recommended🙁🙁
Rahul Dasgupta
Nice clean veg food.Went for breakfast.Had the Idli/Rava Dosa/Filter coffee. Service is good and the food is presented well.Overall value for money.

While on city tour spotted this place and decided to visit. <br/><br/>I liked the ambience. Quite calm than other south Indian restaurants. Very neat and clean. Sounds they had newly opened or recently renovated. <br/><br/>Food : 3.5/5<br/>They are serving very hygiene and good quality food but found bit modified taste in compare to chennai's leading names. Though I liked it very much.<br/><br/>Service: 3.5/5<br/>Quick and responsive.<br/><br/>Staff: 3/5<br/><br/>Not much friendly and not having welcoming behaviour.
Nikhilesh Meghwal
Very much liked their service and attitude. Quite a decent place with quality food. One more good thing about this place is opens early morning, so you drop right here as soon you arrive in Pondy for the trip
Shriprada Shivakumar
Ask anyone in Pondicherry for a pure vegetarian restaurant and they point you to Suguru! <br/><br/>Frankly, this is a totally hyped-up restaurant. Dropped by on the first day the GST came into action :P<br/><br/>The rotis were extremely dry and tasteless, the paneer curry we took barely had any paneer - the taste was so-so. The subji biryani was a terrible mistake. <br/><br/>The so called masala-idly - idly dipped in some sort of a curry - interesting idea but didn't taste good!<br/>The service was pretty good. The huge crowd sort of makes the waiters/cleaners run around on their toes!<br/><br/>If one is looking for "pure-vegetarian" tag and craving for some Indian food, this place I guess is one among the best available. <br/>Otherwise, this place can be totally avoided.
Amrita Agrawal
A savage for pure vegetarians in Pondicherry.. Food is awesome and service is also good.. :) A nice place to visit.. :) Try their soups.. :)
Reeba George
Craving for authentic south indian food? This is the place. The taste of the food is amazing, staff is very friendly and ambience is great. If you are in White Town a must visit place!
Ragav S
South Indian vegan restaurant, popular around local as well travelers. Tastier, home- made, traditional kinda food. A lot of varieties. Popular with forigner travelers as well.
Jeet Makadia
We went here after day long of roaming and exploring in pondi.. overall the experience was ruined due to one of the arrogant manager who behaved rudely.. food is nice though which was a blessing and there was this one guy who was serving us food.. he was gem of a person and was very quick and polite.. I have given 3.5 rating out of which this guy takes 1.5 rating and rest is for food.. you can definitely visit this place provided you don't encounter that manager with specs..!!!
Krishna Kankal
Excellent veg food. Visited with family. Good service. Place is crowded always. Delicious food. Will visit many times again. They should get more space.
Avanthika
I have been to other branch of surguru they have amazing South Indian food <br/>But I don't think it's good for a drink <br/>I ordered a chocolate milkshake it was too sweet and I would feel the sugar crystals <br/><br/>Food:- ok<br/>Ambience:- ok<br/>Price:- ok<br/>Service:- ok
Hranawat9
Hopeless food and very poor service. Staff very rude. Portions very less. Pav bhaji's bhaji served in small bowl and asking for more they served it very cold. Chutneys served in tea spoon quantity.
Swathi Bhat
Extremely pathetic service! Ordered a grilled sandwich and I was just sitting for more than half an hour waiting for it. Also ordered a simple salted lemon juice, and they managed to spoil that too. Wouldn't recommend this place at all!
Swamynathan Hariharan
They shamelessly kiss a white bottom, you Seder something and a foreigner orders same 10min later guess who has a lucky day.<br/><br/>And food sucks like literally, a south India restaurant<br/> can not get Vada any more wrong !!<br/><br/>Some luck you have that people still come here, pray that your luck remains
Rakhee G
Small tight place, very crowded, un-smiling staff, quick service, delicious food, 100% veg.<br/>It's like..., have your food, pay the bill & leave the table, so that other's can have their food. <br/>
Adhik Ramanathan
Great location, average food and economical pricing . Service leaves a lot to be disered though, especially at peak hours. A nice place for reasonable Indian vegetarian fare.
Sachet Duggal
Wonderful warm outlet churning out quick yummy dishes at such reasonable rates, it's a wonderful surprise. <br/>The servers are very sweet, courteous and efficient. <br/>A typical south indian joint, small and humble but don't be fooled with that, the food is excellent. <br/><br/>Tandoori Idly was one of the things I will remember all my life. A must try dish. <br/>Dosaa is great too. Loved the Chhole Bathure<br/>South indian lunch thali looked really good but didn't have a chance to try it. Maybe next time.
Sonam
The food was AMAZING...and the service was exactly opposite of it! If you are mentally prepared for the bad/slow/indifferent service, it's a MUST GO for authentic tamilian cuisine.
Sumit Nagori
Surguru spot is located nearby Sri Aurobindo Ashram. This place is your best bet for Vegetarian food in Pondicherry. You get tasty South Indian food while North Indian food is also good and can be tried. We stayed in Pondicherry for three days and all our meals were here. Varieties of dosa, idly, poori sagu are all really tasty. Surguru Spot has a better ambience than Surguru. The place is not very heavy on your pocket and it has long waiting queue. The service is a bit slow and needs to be worked on.
Amol Mujumdar
Nice spot to have a meal. The most ordered thing there is "thali", but sadly we didnt try that. The people around tough seemed to enjoy it pretty much.Tomato soup was very thick, looked like having much corn flour in it.Malai corn dhaniwala was good. Butter roti was ok. Was made of maida despite the staff claiming it's made of whole wheat flour.Chocolate brownie was hard and felt a little stale.
Nandita Subbarao
We went to this place after finding long lines everywhere on New Year's eve. We needed to wait only about five minutes for a table.<br/>The South Indian snacks were very good; the pav bhaji, though OK in taste, was not authentic. The service was fairly quick.
Vivek Mathew Pulickal
As im from kerala i like my masala dosas to taste similar to what im used to here. And i found that in surguru spot which i appreciate very much. Very neat tody plave with good service. Price is a bit on the higher side but understandable considering it is beach side. Those looking for veg food in a clean comfy atmosphere can check it out
Dipin Nair | The Hedonistic Gourmand
While out in White Town on a shopping spree, our hunger pangs knocked our tummies and Zomato pointed out to this place amongst the decent eateries nearby.Since we did like Surguru,a visit to its namesake or sister outlet seemed to be a safe bet.We decided to have some South Indian fare since that was the mood for the day!The dosas, gunpowder tossed idlis, mini idlis in ghee dripping sambar, everything was good! The ambiance is a laid back one, nothing to rave about! The place is cheaper than Surguru,so money won't be an issue since you can eat to your heart's content without worrying! 😛Totally VFM,SS manages to satiate your taste buds and care for your wallet too! ;)

‘The place is excellent for delicious South Indian dishes’ <br/><br/>       My regular place for lunch and occasionally for breakfasts, situated near The Ashram and The Temple, it is always crowded and the orders take time to be served unless you order the thalli. Try out the South Indian dishes as they taste authentic and fulfilling. The ambience is decent and the staff courteous.<br/><br/>   They offer the best taste of South Indian dishes especially the dosas and uthapam alongside heavenly Sambhar and Chutney. For the starters one can start with Reshmi Panner tikka which is quite a plateful and the Breads such as Laccha Paratha and Kulcha are good. It is better not to try out the Pasta and sandwich as both are bland and the chappathi served is rough and dry.<br/><br/>   As for the desserts, chocolate lovers can try out the Dark Chocolate mousse though brownie is available it was either served rough, hard or burnt on few occasions. The milkshakes are normal but the coffee is really good.

Absolutely worthless place , the one star is only for food , which was pretty okay  , but the mainly need to work on their customer service , nobody comes to clean the table , or take order for long long time , and after u order , something as simple as dosa , that takes another long waiting period to arrive , go to this place , only of the other option is starving due to lack of options... horrible expereinece

Been there yesterday for dinner. Very gloomy restaurant. Slow service! Poor options. Few choices. Nothing great. Almost left hungry...not filling. No one comes for taking the order.

The place is always full as it is located in the main market of pondicherry.. The place is understaffed, took forever to take order and get it.. The food is just average..

Pondy's first choice for vegetarian and it never disappointed me.. Quality, ambience, price in all aspects better than hotels like A2b.. Service is also prompt..

Great service and a comfortable space with a decent menu and good food. It is well maintained and hygienic as well. That's something which isn't exactly synonym with Puducherry restaurants. <br/><br/>Good!

A perfect veg friendly place. The South Indian cuisine is the best, well the North Indian dishes are good too at the same time can't complain for the continental dishes. To have a good tiffin for dinner step in and be happy. Overall it's a lovely veg place to eat. <br/>Food- 4/5 <br/>Ambience- 3/5 <br/>Service - 4/5 <br/>

I always come to this place whenever I am in Pondi. I love it. The dosas and the assortment of chutneys they provide are amazing. The best part is refills are on the house. Have got to mention the friendly staff.

Very bad hospitality, food is ok , not great.....do not come here if u want to treat yourself ......<br/>The staff is very rude to the customers <br/>

Close by the beach and Manakulla Vinayakar temple so it's a very nice close by option but they could really add a lot more South Indian dishes in their menu. It makes it tough for all the old people to eat there and they prefer A2B instead. Adding more South Indian options would be great.
Fuckyou
It's an all vegetarian establishment. One of the chains of Surguru. The quality of the food remains the same in all the chains. The sambar vada and idli are a must try. Their variety dosas are also good.

Ambience: 4.5 ( Perfect, classy simplistic set up, feel good lighting)<br/>Food : 4.5 Spot on, great taste, on a whole the menu is good and most of the dishes I had here tatses good, special mention of tandoori idly has to be made. First time I had this creative dish which is a mix of North and South India, loved the idea. Their dosas are good, rice items and Indian starters too, but wouldn't prefer their sandwiches which is quite ordinary.<br/>If anyone asked for a veg restaurant in Pondicherry I would suggest Surguru Spot as my first option without any hesitation.

An every day food restaurant. A good place for vegetarians. The food, ambience, service is ok. Usually crowded. Affordable and reasonable price.

Completely insane place. We went to this place to have dinner on 5th April 2016. We already went to the main Surguru n was quite satisfied so wanted to try this place as this place is near to my current stay. <br/>We ordered chilli mushroom dry, palak paneer n rotis. <br/>All came together and that's why we asked for..Chilli mushroom was soggy n cold n oily. I immediately asked to the waiter n he said due to AC..ok fine but how come palak paneer n rotis are hot? indeed very hot..<br/>Then the manager came n gave his explanation and he was intelligent enough to understand their blunder. <br/>They actually served me a ALREADY COOKED COLD DISH!!!!!!!<br/>They offered me to heat it but I knew it will increase my pain as it will still be soggy, rubbery and bad. The price I will pay for it will be the same and I will feel bad that knowingly I had it and became fool.<br/>I politely told them to cancel the order n not to charge me as it was a bad dish. They were literally relieved.<br/><br/>Guess couple of foreigners were having dinner and one guy asked me on what happened so that prompted the hotel management to show politeness.<br/><br/>Palak paneer n rotis were really good and butter milk was good but too much froth..

Stopped  by at Surguru while leaving Pondy. This place seemed like the best choice since it was right opposite to my hotel. Its a nice authentic South Indian place. They serve good pongal vada and rava dosa. The service took a little time.. But the food turned out good. I loved their coffee as well. Its a nice cute place right on JN street. It was a perfect place for us to stop by to grab a quick bite before leaving Pondy.

Nice family type joint to go for light south Indian lunch. Really run of the mill type joint nothing special. Food is ok. Service is prompt

Went for a evening snack - Lovely corn pakkoda with mint chutney . Dosa is delicious and at last nothing beats filter coffee . Serving gets little late . Parking Car would be tough since there is lot of one way diversions.

I have been couchsurfing in Pondicherry for quite a few days and this restaurant attracts good number of people during lunch and dinner, especially dinner when you might have to wait for a table.<br/>Just to make it easy for the reader of this review, I rated the dishes individually.<br/><br/>I am writing this review after having a sumptuous Paper Masala Roast in breakfast today which is my last meal at Hotel Surguru. This long dosa makes up for a breakfast if you want to eat like a king.<br/><br/>The lime juice was accompanied with almost every meal. Sometimes two glasses a meal.<br/><br/>Peserette Dosa has been the best dosa I have ever had. Unfortunately for the consumers, it's available only on Fridays.<br/><br/>Masala Dosa and Onion Rawa Masala Dosa were good too but nothing really different from what I have already tried.<br/><br/>I didn't like the French Dosa which was a dosa filled with cooked cabbage, carrot, onion and mushroom.<br/><br/>Surguru Special Thali includes tomato soup before the meal and vanilla ice-cream at the end.<br/><br/>Food - 4/5<br/>Service - 4.5/5<br/>Decor and seating - 4/5<br/>Location - 3/5<br/>Ambience - 4.5/5<br/><br/>
