Review La Villa Helena - Pondicherry

O B
The house is stunning and decorated with great taste. Don’t forget to check the store: it has amazing gems. The food (breakfast/lunch/dinner) was tasteful. The staff is so welcoming and helpful as always in India. However, do not book the rooms that are in the front : there is a cafe around the corner that blasts music till late at night, ruining the peaceful atmosphere of this great part of the city. The hotel’s owner can’t do anything as the cafe’s owner has “connections”… We tried to talk to the cafe’s manager whom as a real jerk didn’t care about our issue.

Ordered the beef steak at Villa Helena and it was delightful! Perfectly juicy with the right amount of salt on the potato chips. Tried the New York cheesecake for dessert; it wasn't quite up to par, but the jam definitely gave it a saving grace. The staff here are both friendly and polite. Would recommend for a nice meal out!

Located in heart of White town, Villa Helena is a great choice to stay at old French style house. Aesthetically pleasing rooms are delight here. Probably the only Pet friendly place in the area, staff was also very welcoming. Limited food options and average taste was a little discomforting

My reviews summarise what was Excellent, Very Good, Good, Average, Below Average and Poor and special mentions. Excellent Overall homely vibe, Hospitality, Service, Food, ambiance, parking and accessibility Very Good Rooms, SPA nearby. Special Mentions Ramu and Sathya - Great waiters and always smiling. The place is nice for families. Really not much to review on this one. It's in the beach, but you can't see the beach, decent but not great in all other respects.

The entire place looked a bit run down with insufficient (NOT inefficient) staff managing the kitchen. The room was very well kept, clean and aesthetically done up. The food was excellent. They don't have parking space. The morning after rains, the common area remained wet and dirty till the staff arrived at 9:00; so finding a cosy morning coffee corner was a challenge. The guys at the kitchen counter could have been a bit more pleasing as expected in the service industry.

Went there for dinner. Fantastic ambience, perfect for a date. The entire place was candlelit. The menu covered a lot of cuisines and had a wide variety of options. Reasonably priced, the portion sizes were also perfect. Overall, had a great time, would highly recommend! 💰 500-700 per head

This property is a perfect example of Old world charm .The open dining area is a perfect place to have morning tea or meals surrounded by greenery and chirping of birds.Only one suggestion is that they could improve on their complimentary breakfast menu.

Great ambience to have a relaxed lunch. The flora arrangement in this place is natural and aesthetic. Loved the pet cat that kept roaming around without disturbing or wanting to be disturbed. Have stayed here previously too and the rooms are spacious and clean with an old French charm.

The place is located quite close to beach. Walking distance 5 mins. All the good restaurants, heritage structures, cafes, churches are within 10-15 mins drive We didn't spend much time inside as we were mostly roaming out. The staff is very courteous here and well mannered. Kudos for that Some earlier reviews mentioned that there is karaoke sound but that is bare minimum within rooms and it subsides after 10.30pm at least during our stay which was Sunday and Monday .. We only had breakfast here in morning which was decent and homely. It's worth the experience.

Visited this restaurant for a quiet dinner. Loved the location -- it's s short walk from the promenade beach/rock beach. The ambience was lovely! Food could have been better. It's a quaint and cozy restaurant. Apt for a quiet, romantic dinner. :)
