Review Blueline - Pondicherry

Rupesh Ravi
Nice place, good is great. This is on the ground floor of The promenade hotel. They serve Indian & continental dishes. I ordered a grilled snapper, what you see in the pic, it came with on a bed of mashed potatoes and spinach, nicely balanced. I ordered a butter chicken and Roti for my son, it was nice it wasn’t the typical industrial action variety butter chicken that leaves red colour on your fingers.

Nice place to have European dinner. Plenty of space outside and inside. Waiters are nice and helpful. Overall food was good, but this is the only restaurant that made me order a salad, their Blueline Caesar salad is amazing.

4 star hotel, we started with breakfast buffey on day one and ended on final dinner. It is perfect place for vegetarian food. Bhukhe ko khana dena types. Staff was very good and dressed nicely. There is a local shop nearby, must visit.

Legitimately the best restaurant around. This spot gives extraordinary service and yummy meals. Delicious food, waiters are very attentive, and super nice atmosphere. The staff does an amazing job of describing anything on the menu. I had ordered Tequila chicken pasta and undoubtedly I can say that it was one of the best pastas I have ever had. The food was absolutely exquisite. Ruhani Murgh Dum Biriyani was also delicious. Mango cheese cake was so yum. Can totally recommend it.

Excellent place to have a cup of coffee and a desserts and to watch the sea 🌊. The crowd here is good. Sea breeze is very pleasant

Best breakfast with 5 star quality in pondy. Beware of dune de l'orient heritage hotel where 12k per night gets u only vada sambar idly and egg for bfast. Promenade bfast is joy . Yumm

We tried their outdoor restaurant (They have an Asian restaurant on the roof top but won’t serve those here. More on this later). This was more of their North Indian spread and had few Continental dishes as well. This is right on the Rock Beach but no views though. Service was good but food was expensive.

A must try for every seafood lover. We had ordered the Lobster Thermador, Crab Curry, and Beer Batter Seafood Platter Every single item was cooked to perfection and was delicious. Thank you, Chef Arun, for the amazing food and our server Chandan for the great hospitality

Blue line restaurant ⛳️ It's a beach-facing restaurant with outdoor and indoor seating 😇and a fantastic view of the Bay of Bengal, ❤️ Food are really good 👍 Expensive 🥲 No parking slot .. need to walk for few mins . Less menu items. Service good 👌🏽

Found out about this restaurant through a friend and decided to try it out for myself. Ordered the Lobster Thermidor and was blown away. Kudos to Chef Arun along with Chandan who was our server. Good ambience, clean environment and lovely seafood. Would recommend and visit again.

Really great dining experience at the Blueline restaurant, Promenade. Treated well by the restaurant personnel, Saathi, Sahnawaz and co. Would recommend 10/10!

Great experience, we had a mini class reunion. Good service especially one of the best service we got from Aprajita( our server) . We also noticed they have great team work. Keep up the good work Aprajita, we wish you all the best.

Food was skilfully cooked and presented. Expensive and kind of a celebration place :) lovely ambience

Casual dining vibe with a great view of the beach. Had the most yummy pizza with sun dried tomatoes and feta cheese. Special mention for their stir friend mushroom gravy and watermelon feta cheese salad. Delicious!

Absolutely loved the fresh vegetarian pizza, along with the cold coffee, this was one of my favourite restaurants..also the nachos were sinful. 😍

Slow service,
1.5 hr delay in update that ordered item won't be available but other table were receiving same orders,
And on top of all food billed was not the replacement food ordered which was never in the menu.
All the best.

Went here yesterday for dinner. They have a la vie Parisienne event going on. Ordered three things
1.) bacon wrapped prawns
2.) chicken tikka sizzler
3.) spaghetti
All the three dishes were way below par and I got food poisoning an hour later after eating the food. The service was bad and the staff weren't paying attention to us outside.
All three dishes were cold (even the sizzler wasn't that hot) and bland. The sizzler items were too smoked, the prawns were raw and bland and the spaghetti was cold and had no taste to it apart from the overpowering cheese. Vomited multiple times after coming back from there. Been living here for 4.5 years and there isn't a restaurant that has disappointed me this much.
Nizha Benny
There was not one thing that disappointed me here. The food was just cooked perfect. Chicken Tikka sizzler was so delicious and the veggies just perfect. And loved the bacon wrapped chicken. The ambience is cool and comfortable. Inspire of the hotel being located at the most happening place of the city the restaurant was jus calm and peaceful.

Great food. Amazing ambience

For a buffet charging 1450 bucks its completely worthless and the service person were not tending to the customer. The starters were not served and even after mentioned they hesitated to serve. The curd rice wasnt that good too. The curd tasted old. Disappointing

Lovely food

Best place to sit relax and have a nice conversation to go. The view of sea with the cool breeze is what makes the place more exotic. Service is very nice and so are the staffs. The only thing i didn't like about the place was food. The burger was not really upto the standards of promenade. Hoping for some improvement on that front. Rather then that i would say a great place .

Talking about the food, it was okayish type. We loved the prawns but rest of the items were less salty.
Let's talk about the bill. There was some 10% service charge applied on the total amount. When asked, we were told that that is optional. So why were we not informed before if it is optional? After complaining about same, the service charge was not refunded. We are really dissappointed with this. And for your information, GST includes all the service charges. Attaching the bill.

The food was to die for. I thoroughly enjoyed the main courses. We had ordered a Thai dish along with a beef main course. Both the dishes was delicious however, one more garlic bread could be given graciously. The drinks were good too. The prices are worth the ambience and food. I'm coming back again for sure!

I actually planned on visiting another roof top restaurant nearby but which was closed because of the rains and this seemed a very suitable option considering we as a couple were on a romantic sojourn after many days.

We weren't that hungry so directly ordered the mains. They have a sea food fest going on presently but I was more tempted by the offer of the availability of a T Bone Steak and went ahead with it.

The steak weighed almost 450 gms and was served with some very creamy mashed potatoes buttered up just to the perfect extent. The barbeque sauce on the side was freshly made, creamy and correctly spiced. The Grilled vegetables were the classic ones that is neither too burned up nor too under done as to be soggy.

The meat unfortunately looked as if it was not that fresh and cooked on the grill right from the freezer. It tasted quite good but thats from the Garlic and burnt rosemary but the texture of the meat was very chewy and I had to simply leave out the fatty portion otherwise I would have needed a set of dentures to chew through them.

The server who took my order forgot to ask me how I want my steak done and which I generally prefer medium rare or rare and also I too forgot to tell them the same. The end result was the steak was almost well done losing all its elasticity and pinkness which should have been visible on cutting it.

My wife ordered the Hyderabadi Mutton Biryani and there is not one word I can mention about it since it was exactly a Biryani but rather some yellow lightly spiced rice with chunks of mutton and a very thick raita. It does not even merit a mention here in the review.

The head chef Mr.Mohan runs a tight ship and it seems their expertise is in Sea Good and thats what you should try here.

The price seemed slightly on the higher side but thats the takeaway for the ambience, sea view location and the great service.

I couldn't try anything there because I went there for breakfast but asked to leave. Apparently, 'it is only for in-house residents', is it?

We had a very warm welcome by Miss Liza to the hotel, she took care of us so nicely, i liked the place so much, just because of the service and attention that were provided to us by the staff
Thanks to the team and specially to miss Liza for her excellent service....ive fallen in love with this place.. will surely visit again

This rating is a little harsh- there were many good things about The Blue Line. However, when a restaurant has aspirations to real fine dining, the little things really do tend to add up.

There is nothing to fault at all in the ambiance or service. The outdoor seating option is a delight on a cool day or in the evening. All the staff were attentive and helpful. The whole Promenade property feels old and classy, and this restaurant benefits hugely from all of that.

We ate lunch and dinner here. Lunch was aglio olio, bruschetta and lasagna. There was nothing really wrong with any of these, but there wasn't anything really stand out either. Good, competent dishes, but just a tad not good enough for the sort of place Blue Line has aspirations of being (for example, I had an agli olio a couple of months ago in a similar class of restaurant and their addition of sun dried tomatoes changed the whole dish. That's the sort of thing you'd expect from Blue Line as well).

In the evening, we had their dal makhni- and this was really very good. Right up there with the best dals we've had. Their Indian food was markedly superior to their Italian, maybe best to stick to this while visiting.

The pricing is as heavy as one would expect in this sort of place. That said, the Indian food is cheaper than the Italian and that just makes the case for that part of the menu even more stark.

Overall Conclusion: Saved by the dal.

The chocolate caramel tart wasn't good nor was the chicken butter masala. The garlic naan and cheese naan was burnt. It was not a good experience at all.

Lovely ambience great food..had great time over there.. special thanks to Liza lovely girl who guided us over everything weather it’s food or the locality..love this place

First of all service staffs were really attentive and well behaved. I ordered Buffalo Chicken Wings, T Bone Steak and a Red Snapper Dish.
Buffalo Chicken Wings were really hard and we couldn't able to eat but one of the service staff exchanged it with Chilly Chicken which was amazing.
But the most disappointing was the T Bone Steak as they didn't cook it well. T Bone Steak are known for their high fat content which means it stay tender when cooked well. But in my case it was really chewy and hard. That means it was just out of the freezer when it got cooked. A well cooked T Bone Steak takes almost 40 minutes to cook which includes 2 minutes marination with salt and paper, 6 minutes of searing on a pan with rosemary and garlic cloves and 20 to 25 minutes inside oven at 350 degree based on the preferences of rareness (I like medium rare) and 10 minutes of cooling to settle down the juices inside the steak to make it tender and juicy. I am not blaming the chef here for not cooking it well but I am extremely disappointed to see a good steak getting wasted.
But the Red Snapper Dish was so amazing that I can't explain in words. The fish was really fresh and the preparation was exquisite. The flavor was extraordinary and my mind got burst from its pristine aroma. I think this is the best someone could prepare. I will suggest everyone to order this if you are here.

Do not miss the breakfast buffet if you're staying at Promenade. Even if you're not staying there, go for their breakfast at least once. You'll not regret it
Thank me later... :)

Food offered here tastes amazing..... Service provided by #SUSHMITA made me feel comfortable. Atmosphere and hospitality is satisfying.. I strongly recommend to dine in at THE PROMENADE ... By Clinton Sparks

Absolutely lovely service and attention to detail, such a friendly crowd of gentlemen and ladies serving other gentlemen and ladies. Thank you Liza for your stupendous service, my parents and I absolutely loved your level of dedication to serving us with a smile. This was my father's first experience at Pondicherry and he and my mother loved it, Thank you from the bottom of my heart for that. :)

One of the best place in Pondi to eat some good food right next to sea. Staff members are very attentive. We tried there veg sizzler and 3 slices of cottage cheese was mind blowing.
Definitely this place is not pocket friendly and may cost if you dine lavishly.
Naveen Mithare
It's a worst place to be in pondicherry. Standard waiting time here is 2hrs. Food is also ordinary. Overrated place. I ordered Biryani they served pulav and served it cold. When asked to replace they reheated the same.
Skinnygirldiariez
You cannot just come to Pondicherry and not stop by the Promenade to relax and unwind be it for casual dining at the Blue line in- house restaurant, or relish on some asian cuisine at the Bay of Buddha their roof top restaurant. Or shake a leg with some must have cocktails at the Story tellers bar.

I had the opportunity of enjoy both lunch and breakfast during my stay here at the Blue line restaurant

Three dishes which i would to highlight that stood out for me at the Blue Line
1. Seafood Bouillabaisse Served with Rouillesauce - Sea Food Soup - All i can say is a must have. I just cleared the bowl in a jiffy. A healthy serving can be a meal on its own for the health concise
2. Salad Nicoise - basically tuna salad, the lemony herbed dressing on the side once drizzled on the salad, just hits the right notes on your palate. I relished this one completely. Once again a healthy serving can be shared by two if you wish to enjoy the mains
3. Parmesan and Herb Crusted Grilled Snapper - Divine is the word. The snapper cooked to perfection just melts in your mouth, the spinach and the mashed potato add to the texture. A highly recommended dish from my side.
4. Fresh cut mango with whipping cream - The season was apt and hence after a heavy meal I stuck to the delicious juicy mango. Simple yet just perfect way to close a hearty meal. For Tiramisu lovers you can also go ahead and try it, they serve a non alcoholic one, so the kids can savour the dessert

You can take your pick and relax by the pool side with a cocktail or some refreshments before you head out. A definite must try.

The breakfast buffet at Blueline made me wake up earlier than usual because their spread of delicacies was more important than my sleep. With the view of the sea and a beautiful pool, it was such a perfect spot to begin your day. The live counters for dosas and eggs don’t fail to surprise you every single time. The options range from continental food like sausages and bacon to south Indian food like upma and idli making it a place for everyone!
Balaji Niranjan
Love this place. My go to place for pizza or pasta. Had been there last night where Mr.Chella took great care in providing us with great service. Have been a regular here. Promenade has never been a disappointment so far.
Thank you Mr.Chella and team.
Kanika Saraf
We happened to stay at their sister property and so after using the pool facility here.. we thought why not enjoy the beautiful sea view from their restaurant itself.. worth mentioning is their chicken biryani and also since their sizzler festival was on..so we happened to order a fish sizzler which served full fish ..and even though i am not a big fan of fish with bones..nonetheless i had a great time relishing the food... do try if u r in pondichery... the view is great and so is their chef... thankyou guys for an impeccable service..loved evry bit of the experience..

Wonderfully located, if you're strolling around the Promenade in Pondicherry, chances are you won't miss this place. Just overlooking the sea, you'll love the ambiance. Going through the menu, you'll be amazed at the variety of food that they serve. Impressive!

We had gone there just for desserts, one thing that I have to mention is the service is a tad too slow. Even though the restaurant seemed kind of empty, the servers took way too long and they kept on asking for what we had ordered. Had ordered the Tiramisu, which was served in a cup. Don't serve desserts in a cup, that too a luxurious dessert like Tiramisu. Come on!! You're a fine dining restaurant.

That being said, I'd definitely like to try out the food next time I'm in Pondicherry. If not for anything else, the location will blow your mind.

The restaurant overlooks the ocean so its an amazing sight while dining. The smoker area overlooks the old light house. The food was nice and the options on the menu too are great!

We had brunch at this restaurant last week and the ambiance is beautiful near to sea. The staff was pleasant and helpful specially Philachang for her humbleness and warmth service. The food was really delicious. It's a fine dinning place not to be missed if you are visiting Pondicherry.
Dr Sandipan Chowdhuri
I went there with my wife on my honeymoon. Ambience- fantastic. Staff behaviour - excellent. Food- delicious. Presentation - impeccable. First we had white wine. Then there was bouillabaisse with rouille sauce. Then we had quiche Lorraine. Then we had Coq a vuin. Then we had tarte tartin. We also had greek salad. Memorable experience. Dr. Paromita Adhikary

One of the worst experiences we have had at the promenade. The service seems to be detoriating by the day. Will not suggest anyone to visit the restaurants there. We went for dinner yesterday as it's walking distance from our house however, I don't think we are ever going back. They were not interested in taking our order and kept delaying and forgetting what we had ordered. When we complained to the manager he wasn't really bothered and actually told us to go ahead and complain to the owner if we had to. This is least expected from an established brand such as hidesign and I really think they need to shut down if they can't maintain quality. The Promenade Hotel
Suhas
Portion size is very less and doesn't justify the price. The service was also slow. The ambience is good but there isn't much value for money.
Overrated, avoid if possible.
Rutwij Kokje
They have pretty decent menu and while the quantity or the taste does not justify the price, the taste is quite good by itself. Liked the ambience and the view, but the service can be rather slow. So make sure you have time on hand.

The experience of having breakfast in this place is elevated only by the view of the Bay of Bengal, the courteousness of the staff and not by the quality of their food. Hence I am giving a 3 to this place, else I would rate it 1 or 2. The breakfast buffet has an ok spread, however, it lacks in terms of quality, taste and the frequency of replenishment of the dishes. the idly was good n the dosa good else everything else was very ordinary. The omelette was salty and so was the chutney. The Vada was oily. The steamed dumplings were undercooked, the paratha was alright. Some of the good points was that there were a good variety of juices and breads.
Asha V
Great food ambience location. We had 3 starters andhra chicken and the mutton was tasty. Fried prawns was a little uncooked for our palette. I enjoyed the pan fried fish with veggies and mashed potato. They made grilled chicken and fries on demand for our little one. Overall a great experience!!
S Vivek
Nice beautiful restaurant which facing the sea . good choice of food menu in the alacarte. Nice staff and excellent service. I faced a severe problem of car parking.

We took veg soup which tasted like a tomato purée , below average restaurant. Even sizzler is bad . Not suitable for vegetarians ambience was quite good

We went to have lunch at the blueline in promenade during our Pondicherry visit..Good experience, delicious food especially biryani is so tasty and stuff behaviour was very polite...

We made a stop by Blueline at The Promenade on our first day in Pondicherry, sunbaked and ready for lunch. Boy oh boy! We weren't disappointed at all. The place is done up in a tasteful manner and is on the boulevard of along Rock Beach overlooking the blue waters, hence the name I guess? :) The food and service was brilliant. The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and took very good care of us through the service ensuring that we were satisfied. The welcome drinks and complimentary brownies were such a sweet gesture - one that we shall not forget, for that's how good they were! Even though we had a full vegetarian meal that day, it was a delicious and tasty meal. I would definitely recommend making a stop here if you are in White Town!

We hopped on Blueline- The Promenade restaurant which is opposite to promenade beach on 2nd of this month. The name Blue line really live upto its name as from outdoor seatings, one can clearly enjoy the natural beauty of beach view with daze sky. This open place is enwreathe with lush green trees, comfy wooden seating enhanced with blue lamps, small fountains and natural breeze. As it is HiDesign Hotel, the indoor seatings is highly made up of pastel blue and brown leather and wood furnishings graced with urban lamps.

This spot in White-town welcomes you with large potted plants and fresh flowers serves French, Italian and Indian cuisine.

Due to Gandhi Jayanti most of the delicacies from the menu were unavailable and we could see there was an option of Biryani and Bakery products so without giving a second thought we ordered :

BHUNA MURGH BIRYANI : Moderately hot Biryani enriched with exquisitely chicken morsels, mild traditional Indian spices, fragrant rice complemented with rotund spiced egg and some white rice on top with generous sprinkling of cilantro leaves served with raita is perfectly congenial for our taste buds. One portion of Biryani is sufficient enough to fill one’s tummy.

CHOCOLATE CARAMEL TART : This gooey chocolate caramel tart is full of glazed chocolate, fresh caramelo and sweet crust is amazingly decadent and immensely cloying beautified with pistachio flakes. Must try chocolate lovers!

ICE-CREAM SUNDAE : Western flavoured Ice-cream scoops of Vanilla, Chocolate and Strawberry served in a transparent glass; criss-crossed by chocolate serve, round-up with apple slivers, topped with fruit jelly and pistachio nubs is a superb frozen treat after a meal to dug with gusto. Must try for die-hard sundae lovers.

Staff is attentive but service is bit slow. If you are in promenade beach in noon-time, this place is the best to have lunch with your loved ones.

Rating :
Ambience : 4/5
Service :3/5
Taste : 3.5/5
Value for Money : 3.5/5
Visit Again : Yes
Parking Availability : Yes

Polite and friendly staff. It’s by the beach side and they have hoegarden on the tap, what else one could ask for ? Found the North Indian food really good.

Worst experience!! Staff was behaving as if they are owner of the property...No courtesy at all. This hotel don’t even deserve to be rated as 3 star. Bad food quality n taste. We had dinner for 2 and a half hrs and 2 hrs we waited for the order. We asked for a C pin charger they didn’t had that as well. And denied by staff in disrespectful manner.... what the fuck you should expect when you are paying 18%tax😕😕 #notrecommended

Worst experience ever!!
Never go with the name...... are looking and laughing at the customers......we have waited for almost 1 hr for our food.
We ordered Lasagne and that was horrible....we asked to change and chef said they don't have it...pasta was ohk ..not worth ₹425😑...better to have dinner at Le cafe than coming to this pathetic place.
Went here for lunch - ordered risotto and vegetable biryani. The food was okay for the price and the service was a bit slow. Beautiful location but the restaurant needs a slight improvement.

We went to have lunch at the Blueline in Promenade during our Puducherry visit. We were 6 adults and 5 children with a mix of veg and non veg people.

The restaurant has this really nice feel about it with large windows facing the beach.

The non vegetarians ordered the French menu (Boullabaisse, Coq Au Vin, and the Tarte Tartin). I also ordered the 3 cheese Soufle which i have been looking to try since a failed attempt to re-create the dish at home.

The Bouillabaise was really nice with a nice feel of the sea. There was fish, clams and prawns in the broth. I liked it although another person commented on the mild salt + pepper in the dish.

The Coq Au Vin was brilliant. Succulent chicken in broth and was enjoyed by everyone. I did not try the tarte tartin.

The 3 cheese Souffle was beautifully presented. It was mild and enjoyable though i was expecting more cheesy flavor.

I also ordered the tenderloin steak with mashed potatoes. The steak was really delicious and, since i do not get to eat the 'unmentionable' often in India, i really enjoyed the dish.

The vegetarians ordered the Lasagna (good), pasta (good), 2 kinds of sizzlers (which they found average) and a spaghetti.

Overall, I really enjoyed my lunch here though i did not taste any of the vegetarian dishes. Beautiful resutarant, nice food and great location

We reached Pondicherry late in the night last Friday and found that this place was open 24 hours. We were very hungry and made our way to blueline.

The server told us that only sandwiches and pastas were available at that time. We ordered 2 veg sandwiches and 2 non veg sandwiches. Both of them were absolutely pathetic. The veg sandwich (which costed 275+18% GST) was just bread, tomato's and cucumbers. There was no trace of chutney, potatoes or cheese. And it was just 2 slices of bread for that price. Absolute rip off. The non-veg sandwich (325+18% GST) was equally pathetic, with just chicken and bread.

They even had the guts to add 10% Service Charge to the bill which we flatly refused. After a long argument, we walked out absolutely disgusted with this experience.
Sonia Kathuria
Penne Arrabiata was good, but very spicy, could not eat the sauce much. Al fungi pizza was good, the mushrooms variety was better, all ingredients fresh and tasty. The wood fired effect made it taste yummy, done to perfection. the chocolate shake was good too. The ambience was plush but dishes in pondicherry are better at road side cafes and at a much better price.
Meera Sreekumar
A quite place, enjoyed the fine dining experience. Buffalo wings are a must try, amazingly spicy and saucy. A little too spicy for those who might not like spicy food though! Loved the service as well! Definitely going back :)
Aishwarya Balakrishnan
We were staying at promenade and decided to head down to Blueline for dinner. The ambience is beautiful.
The menu covered a diverse set of cuisines and the food came out delicious too. I highly recommend the Spaghetti Bolognese and bacon wrapped chicken tenders here ! Sweet spot really.

After hearing that promenade is a famous for 5 rated hotel. Me and my friend planned to try this restaurant once went for morning breakfast buffet but dissappointed because only few menu and hyper rated for those foods and finally went there for lunch unfortunately buffet was over while our visit ordered biryani and pasta i swear its totally unworthy for money. Pastas were deadly taste i never tasted these sovuy Pasta and one thing staffs are well groomed and polite and the complimentery banana cake good. But needs change in food

They have decent ambience, as it's opposite to beach. However, when it comes to food & service, wish I could give 0 rating.

We ordered bhaati ka murg, nachos, fries, etc etc How can you go so wrong in Nachos?, almost invisible cheese sauce, mayonnaise. Except bhatti ka murg, nothing was tasty. Order takes ages to reach your table. Bislery costs Rs.100.

No value for money.
We (group of 8) have been this restaurant basis on reviews from zomato, however it turned out to be a disaster experience in terms of food and service they offer at a price.
1. ordered chicken bhuni and ordered delivered after 1 hour and whenever we chased they trained to give a standard reply, "it's coming", eventually order delivered dish of mutton whereas orders of chicken. therewere 3 guys in the group who doesn't eat mutton unknowingly they eat and restaurant give a dam Shit about it.
2. A bottle of water cost 100 + taxes..be careful when order.
3. Cheese Nachos - never had such a bad experience as this one
4. there were multiple dishes ordered not a one justified the price paid.

PS - think twice before you decide to go!
Roshni Singh
Visited this place today and must say it has great ambience but food is really disappointment, from veg to nonveg not even single dish was good except bhatti ka murg which was decent even nachos which never goes wrong anywhere but turn out be disaster here, group of 8 couldn't finish it, we had ordered murgh bhuni and they served us mutton and then replace it with palak paneer gravy with chicken in it which no one preferred to finish. For 19rs bisleri bottle they charged us 100 rs which we could have digested if food was good. Totally waste of money
Akhilesh Shetty
Overrated and overpriced - aquafina is rs. 100 which is total bs. Service was poor too. Our main order got mixed up - got mutton instead of chicken.

Sole Meuniere is a must try. (Though I didn't had it) I had buffet dinner with my family which was just an average except roast chicken and veg soup which was super sumptuous. Had a lot of expectations from this restaurant. Ambience is The Best. I would recommend for a la carte. Will definitely a la carte next time.

We visited pondicherry on our second honeymoon & stayed at the hotel Le Pondicherry. We had a French dinner. First we ordered the white wine Sula. Then there was a soup of prawns & meat. It was called bouillabaisse served with rouille sauce. Then there was a salad with a delicious egg filling. It was called Quiche Lorraine. Then the main course was Coq a vin. It was a chicken dish with veggies &potatoes mainly. Then came the dessert. It was called Tarte Tartin. It was yummy, consisted of vanilla ice cream & the main dessert. However we also ordered the Greek salad. It was exquisitely crafted & delicious and very very healthy. Though the price was on the higher side, overall it was a memorable evening spent. The ambience & the staff contributed a lot to making our time memorable.

Promenade promises the best view of the sea when it comes to Pondicherry. And I’m talking of a fine dining experience, which lacks in the shacks. A range of Italian, continental and Indian dishes rule the menu. The chicken tikka sizzler is a must try. The Belgian Chocolate and caramel tart was amazing and a treat for any chocolate lover. I must recommend this place highly.
Ayushi Singh
We went to this place on a Sunday afternoon unfortunately they had only buffet option and no À la carte. For a while this place will make you forget that you are in India because of the outside view, the crowd and the mix of different cuisines from French, Italian, continental, Japanese to Indian. We tried almost everything and most of the dishes tasted good. To our surprise they also had chole and mutton biryani!
Buffet price for one is 850+taxes and with unlimited beer 950+taxes. For 2 people the bill came around 2400 INR. A high end restaurant but worth a try when you are in Pondicherry.

Don't listen to the chef.
I wanted French food, and could've just picked from the menu....but the chef suggested to make me fresh 'special food'.
I got served a rissotto (which is Italian) and Belgian chocolate (name suggests where it's from), among other things.

Staff is basically dumb.

Ambience & view is good.
Excellent service
I came with my friend for Saturday lunch it was super busy but we had wonderful dining experience we ordered chicken tikka sizzler it was delicious.

Not worth the money.. extremely average food that seemed very amateurish, didn't have choice of drinks, poorly mixed drinks and slow service. But the prices are exorbitant.. totally not worth it

Great Place, hands down one of the best food in Pondicherry, very courteous staff. Shout out to Mr. Chella for great service and suggestions. Beautiful view too. Beware slow service though, the view and ambiance makes up for it.

We visited Blueline on a very busy day. I never expected Pondicherry to be that busy. We had our dinner at the restaurant. The outside seating area was very comfortable. The location was great too. They did not have buffet there but the a la carte menu had some really good variety. I was accompanied by my husband and my 3 year old. We were well looked after by Raju and he made arrangements for the baby meal for my daughter. I have heard a lot about there Sunday brunch and that is certainly left for me to try upon my next visit.
Raghavendrampai
Over priced place with limited options. Hotel staff are courteous and professional, but food comes really late as kitchen not adequately staffed (my guess)

This place just opposite of the rocky beach the service was excellent the food was good i love this place except the smell in the entrance Of hotel i hope the management will have eye on this cheers...
see you soon with my friends and family
Haute Boheme
This is your typical upclass restaurant. The lunch is vast buffet and a la Carte too. The inside seating is plush and comfortable. Outside seating has a beautiful view of the sea. However there were a lot smokers outside so we decided to sit inside. The staff is courteous. And extremely professional. By the time we reached the restaurant, the lunch option was closed. They had snacks menu only which only veg or chicken biryani, arabiata or Alfredo pasta, some burgers and sandwiches. Sadly I wasn’t in mood to eat any of it so we settled on iced tea (peach). Which was a tad too sweet but very good! Very refreshing indeed!
The place is owned by hidesign (leather bags and stuffs company). Do visit the le Pondicherry store on the other side of the hotel.
Ambiance is decent.
Food is good
Service is good
Prices are a bit on the higher side.

Also, please note that they levy extra 10% Service charges over and above 18% GST.

It is a part of the Promenade hotel on Rock Beach. This was one thing I felt the establishment had going for itself- the location.

The rating of this place I'd say doesn't match the actual experience. Three of us went for the buffet on a Saturday night, and spent about Rs. 4,000, as per the 800+ taxes per person price point.

Food was strictly okay, and the buffet was a mash up of cuisines that didn't quite go together.

What saved the meal for me was dessert, not by way of choice but because I'm a sucker for creme brûlée and they pretty much nailed their creme brûlée! (It wasn't saccharine and had a lovey crusty burnt sugar top layer, with the right consistency and texture)

Service was a touch lacklustre.

Outdoor and indoor seating both are available, but for the kind of money you spend, this is not the best VFM, particularly for non-residents of the hotel.

By my assessment, this place is right for a visit for coffee or dessert.

This is one place I heard a lot. This is from the grp of Hidesign brand. The hotel is one of the luxury hotel and located in the best place of white town. One could walk down to beach and stay here and enjoy the food. Well I didnt check in but I came for lunch. Unfortunately the bay of budha is opened at evening so thought to check the blueline.
Pretty descend siting capacity. The waiters showed referred us to check the buffet before going to ala carte. I checked the buffet but got disappointed. So thought to go for ala carte.
The cutlery os high class for sure.
The menu was having many pages compared to my previous eat outs.
Thought to try different I ordered chicken sizzler and mutton biryani.
Let me tell you I am a fan of these two dish and one who wins my heart is like they are best coz I have eaten in many places.
Coming to chicken sizzler, their were 4 large chunks of tandoor chickens and few julians of carrot and tomato and potato wedges and the butter masala sauce. Thats it comon no rice no tomato no beams no cabbage/ broccoli.
Quantity was less for a heft price. But as soon as I tasted, I forgot the price. The smokey chicken was one of the best chicken tandoor I have ever tasted. Yummm to the power of infinity. But I had to share with my wife so it ended very soon.

Then came the mutton biryani. Before telling you all this, I want to tell you I am an odia and been staying at hyderabad for years and been to many countries. Like I have tasted many versions of biryani. Bengali, pakasthani, luckhnowi, aundh, telugu, nizami, odia n what not.

But the one they feed me, need not need any compliment. Just taste it, the tender mutton will melt inside, the aroma of rice will make you eat more and more. Every thing was perfect. So I decided to drop the spoon and start eating by hand. Just to smell it latter. I know I am being cheap but we do it sometime out of madness.

I cant forget the biryani. I will come again to pondicherry to eat the biryani. Thats it I am done. Untill then no more mutton biryani. (Kidding)

Esp Mr Challa.
Great location ,grab a corner sea facing seating and enjoy a great cappuccino.
Expensive though , but great ambience .
Visited this place. A classy ambience. Food is decent. Nothing great about it! Extremely expensive!
The service is very very slow.
Also, we had some issues with transport. And the staff refused to provide any help just because we weren't staying at their hotel.

A good place to spend your evening.I went for buffet dinner, food was good but the only problem was we have to wait in line as they take a lot of time to fill once it gets over.Their salads are really good and you can get some good cocktails too!!!

Excellent in one word. Presentation style is very good. We got Chicken & mutton biriyani with raita & green salad. We also got virgin mojito & spicy mix up.
My recommendation if you ever visit Puducherry just go for this place.
Been here with my gang of friends on our trip to pondi last year :) pleasant ambience... The glasses served had a smell of fish, so we made them to change those.. But the food was tasty.. Above all the Chef was the best.. The food was served a bit late for which he came and apologized each and every table and served us complimentary desserts which were superb.. This is a long back review..

Another beautiful restaurant in Pondy with outdoor seating with the view of the sea. I was here for lunch by myself and so did not get the chance to order much. I had Parmesan and herb crusted grilled snapper and tropical twist. The grilled fish was had a perfectly cooked with a flaky outer layer and the fish was soft with mild flavour of Continental spices. It was served with mashed potatoes and spinach which weren't well with the fish. Tropical twist - a refreshing peachy mocktail was good choice to go with the fish.

I went to this place to celebrate my bday with high hopes reading all the reviews but to my dismay this place turned out to be one those places which is overhyped due to ambience but food n taste were both just pathetic.

We first entered the restaurant to find a table the staffs were so busy that they were literally ignoring us n we were chasing them for tables. Later we ourself found a table which wasn't cleaned and to top it all the table was broken. Later we were moved to a different table. Then we had to ask them 5 times for water, the cutlery n to clean the table. Then finally we ordered food which will take 45min for them to prepare.

Now the food comes starting with the bruchettas which was made out of a stale bread n stale topings being frustrated we called the manager (Surinder) to complain and he instead of listening was arguing. We return it n ordered nachos which was average but ok in taste. Finally it was time for the main course and here comes our sizzler which had had no salt no taste. Fist squid everything was stale plus there was no flavored rice as promised while taking order instead the manager(Surinder) gets us plain rice and says the menu has changed. I also complained about the sizzler but he was absolutely shameless and just walked away without even answering us. There were no hand wipes to wipe out hands.

Finally we got up to just get out of this place and pay the bill at the reception. There also after giving feedback there was absolutely no reaction. I have never seen such shameless staffs n managers like surinder accross any restaurant i have been. My bday dinner was spoiled. I wish i could a negative rating. Plus we paid a bill amount of 2k with the sevice tax which was nowhere there and for the most horrible pathetic food and staffs. Request u all not to visit this overhyped place. Rather there are many small food joints within pondicherry which server nice food and also have courteous staffs.

I stayed for a night there at the hotel. I had my morning breakfast. The Venue was bang opposite of the beach and gives a fantastic view to the diners. The decor and ambience was good. The staff were customer friendly. The breakfast menu had cuisines ranging from south, north and continental. Food was appealing and tasty. One notable thing is that they have variety of exotic teas available with breakfast. Overall an enjoyable experience

La Cuisine de Francoise at The Promenade.

What is a French connection? Now, don’t tell me that it’s a UK-based fashion retailer and don’t you dare stray into the urban dictionary and tell me that it has something to do with sex. But seriously, does it have anything to do with the fact that your grandfather’s kin are French citizens.

Even more so that some of your cousin sisters (even brothers) own French passports or are French? It’s still hard to call it a French connection but then something revealed itself the past weekend. It was in the form of a stay-cation experience- something I cannot easily put behind (don’t want to either).

Very tasty food. A bit pricy but worth trying once. Located on the ground floor of The Promenade Hotel. I had 4 cheese risotto and chicken tikka sizzler. Risotto was good (not amazing) but the chicken tikka sizzler was really tasty.

The location of Promenade steals the whole show. It's adjacent to the rock beach and all you can do is sip onto some sangria and sit back and take in the surroundings. All I had was some baked potato so can't really say much about the food other than the fact that it's really overpriced.

Amazing venue, good hospitality and cleanliness. Staff is very prompt and assisted in must do's. Would surely recommend it to anyone visiting Pondy.

Located on the ground floor of promenade hotel situated bang opposite the sea on the goubert avenue, this place serves some good pasta and salads. This place comes handy when all the eating places shut by 11pm and you need some decent food. You will be surprised to see a good quantity of fresh fruit platter served in case you are in a mood to eat healthy. They will serve only briyani sandwiches and pasta post 11 pm. Choice is limited but taste is good.
Had Margarita Pizza and Rock lobster here. The best place to have a lobster in Pondicherry as it is decently priced compared to others. The ambience of the restaurant is awesome overlooking the mighty ocean. Perfect place to take your date. Don't forget to reserve your table at the earliest as they are generally overbooked.

Ambience and sea facing view are very good. Service is very poor. The bearers are inefficient and not polite too. You need to keep calling them in a case you need something.
Ordered Pasta - Penne Arrabiata, Cottage cheese steak sizzler, Thai veg green curry with steamed rice, Peach iced tea and Baked cheese cake with caramel sauce. The Pasta and the Sizzler were just about ordinary. The Thai veg green curry tasted good and so also the dessert. Prices are on the higher side. The service levels definitely needs to be raised.
