Review Salem Biryani Hotel - Pondicherry

Ganesh Vishu
Salem biryani hotel offers that authentic traditional salem biryani, very scrumptious and unique taste. We ordered chicken biryani, mutton fry and parota, all of them tasted so delicious. The place is small but reasonably comfortable and gives you the vintage feeling. Don't miss this place if you love the authentic dum biryani of salem.

Really tasty biryani. Tried this type of biryani for the first time and it was really interesting- very subtle and delicious. Easy on tummy. Even though I wasn’t exactly hungry, I ended up eating the whole thing. Recommended.

Excellent tasty biriyani, visited there with the family. Tried their mutton biriyani, mutton kolla urundai, egg kalaki.. It was so refreshing and juicy to have. Really appreciate the lady at the counter who manages the entire resturant.

Best place for seeraga samba rice biryani mutton and chicken. For me Side dishes are above average. I don't prefer third party delivery service and the good thing is they have their own ordering site either store pick up or delivery. I always recommended this place for biryani and it never disappoints us. Have fun.

My Dad is visiting this place after 22yrs. He felt nostalgic. We loved the mutton biryani the most. Just Enjoyed the food and even packed a bucket of briyani.

Excellent biryani, loads of quantity. Additionally their starter dishes are great too! It's a simple air conditioned old style restaurant. The best thing according to me is their goli soda. Relived childhood memories!! Damn cheap too. For two people, one meal would cost anywhere between 400 to 600.

Been their customer for almost 25 years now.... We used to have Biriyani during my school vacation time @ Pondy. After that I came with my school friends and college friends occasionally. Thought they were closed, as the previous location(near AmudhaSurabi) was shut for months and years. Recently my brother only said about this new location..... Then i found my favourite school days Biriyani back after years.... As a traveller in the past decade i have tasted hundreds of biriyanis but our Pondy Salem biriyani is really special and unique in their own way. Chicken Biriyani was too good.... Mutton could have been even better. Pallipalayam was good as well.

I love Salem, their biriyani and chicken 65 is too good. It is a small place but they will make sure you will get a small and all the customers are happy to share with you. Serving is also very good

The best experience i had in my lunch diet The briyani is awesomely good and fry fish.. They have good options, the place is a converted house and its beautiful and crafted.. I must say the friendly behaviour of staffs... and very polite... good hospitality. When passing by Sunday market you must visit the place.. its best place to have lunch and dinner..

Food is good. Service is good.Located right in the middle of the Town. House converted to restaurant, hence seating is cramped and may involve some waiting time. No parking space. Word of caution please check your bill against the price in menu card. We found a couple of discrepancy and got it corrected later.

First a good news!! Salem Biryani is alive and kicking! It is one of the oldest biryani houses in the city (since 1960) and far better than Thalappakatti Dindigul. If you really want to taste the authentic biryani of the South, you should definitely visit it. It was closed for a few years but now it is back in business in style. It's mutton biryani and mutton fry is a must try.

Awesome Briyani ever I have tasted outside Chennai.Great taste and value for money. Bit crowded over weekends. Visited on Sunday afternoon after a long drive.Waiting time was about 30 mins as it was weekend. Otherwise it I would suggest all not to miss the place.

Great menu and tasty food. Mutton fry biryani is the best here. The only common biryani place I heard to visit almost every person in Pondi was Salem Biryani. May be it's the ambience or the taste itself that makes up for the great experience. Friendly staff and clean washroom available.

Tried mutton fry biryani as many mentioned in the reviews. Biryani taste was good seerga Samba rice. Ok qty. Rasam rice is free for biryani that was also good. They can betterthe softness of the mutton as it was slightly rubbery.
