Situated very near to the rock beach. Usually not crowded but their pizza tastes amazing. Not sure but they open from lunch to dinner(confirm with the restaurant before visiting). They have some others starters and steaks too.

Great place to have the most thin crust yummy pizzas... We went on an impromptu trip to pondy and headed straight to this place.. the chef was super good in making this delicious pizza in 20 mins.. the smell of the making is soul filling.. Great ambience and very friendly employees. Thanks.

Amazing thin crust pizza, wonderful host, lovely ambiance though prices are on a higher side.

A cozy place tucked away in the white town.Have been visiting this place for the last 7 years and it has always been charming. The host and the crew are very nice.Their fire wood pizza's are extremely yummy and its not that tight on the pocket either.A pretty moderate menu in terms of option but it their food is good.

Good place. Different atmosphere. Food was too good.

Amazing service!! They were so nice and talked to us. Seem like very genuine people. They also have animals since they are pet lovers. Bharat told us about places to visit and things to do and was very nice overall. Great music and ambience too. Highly recommend!!

Had a very good experience at this place. Chef Bharat made us a customised full fish fry with in-house sauces and boiled veggies and it was yummy. The ambience at this place is very good with locally sourced palm trees which blends into the local environment of puducherry town and easy-on-theheye yellow lights adds a good charm to the interiors. A must visit for all food lovers.

Location is great. Food is great. I ordered mixed noodles. The chicken and prawns were cooked to perfection. Price is absolutely justified by the quantity and taste. Ambience is peaceful. I am not giving 5 star because there is area of improvement for the washroom. But overall i would visit this place again.

The best food I've had in all of Pondicherry!! This place has some delicious and savory food... and the staff I can say it's a great set of sweet and hardworking people!

The place was great! Super unique and awesome ambiance! Awesome hospitality by all the staffs. The foods that i ordered was delicious and they gave large portions. I simply loved the fact that the place was so cozy. I would definitely visit this place again to eat and enjoy!

Sweetly surprised abt thia restaurant..went in there as a last second decision..was walking to get an auto to go to some other restaurant..just checked this restaurant reviews.. decided to go in... We were a group of 7 people.. orders were hot and sour chicken soup, sweet corn veg soup, chicken steak, chicken fried rice, garlic chicken, veg pizza, veg pasta, paneer manchurian, veg noodles, butter naans....to my delight all of them were good..it started with the spicy hot chicken soup..one of the nest i hav had..i dont drink soup much but still this was good..steak sauce was too good , i would hav liked some mashed potatoes with steak , fries were good though. All the dishes were good and prices nominal...bill was 2080 rupees including few goli sodas..Service was pretty fast and the ambience was okay..the entrance path s a photo place.. definitely going back 👍👍

Sad that I have entered this restaurant. Don't go on the looks, it's depressing AF since you get nothing on time and waiter looks frustrated seeing customers and just for chapaties they took more than half the hour. First they didn't add any kind of salad and upon asking for lemon and onions they gave green chillies. Now that's funny.

Damnson! Ordered the Royale Pizza. Yes, it had bacon, chicken sausage, tomatoes and cheese and all the things listed on the menu. Missed the pizza crust. Felt like eating all those toppings on a neighbor-made biscuit. A very crispy biscuit.
Fried rice was honestly the best so far in the city. But that Prawn Manchurian, a few crunchy balls in a sauce of garlic and tomato. The prawns tastes like "not prawns"? Jeez. Stop cooking Chinese already.

I loved the atmosphere on the new year's eve. I went there on an another day and the atmosphere was quite. The food is affordable and I loved there pizza and wine.

Shitty food and shitty service. Ordered a special Le Terrasse salad and what we got were most probably leftovers from the sandwiches they would've made. The salad had no dressing or even salt and pepper. When we told the owner about the same, what we got in response was "You should have returned the salad". The pizza we ordered was "by mistake" delivered to some other table. We asked to cancel the order for the pizza and asked for the bill instead. Another 20 minutes and no bill later, we walked into the kitchen, paid Rs 500 and walked out. This was followed by the owner and some waiters following us out, tried to threaten us and manhandled us. This has been the most terrible experience in Pondy till now. A big NAY!
The food was amazing, and we enjoyed perfect wait service from Johnson .
It was beautiful-peaceful and relaxing. Staff was outstanding Wonderful! We will be back for sure! Thanks so much.
It’s no more run by the new team that had made some awesome changes and has gone back to its old mundane style with very poor hygiene standards

This used to be one of my "must visits" at Pondi but this time I was really disappointed with the customer service. They were rude and impatient and I wouldn't suggest this place to anyone cause you deserve to be treated so much better for the money you pay.
Oh My Foodie
We booked for a group of 40 people.
There is a good ambiance there. The place and the service are okay ! The restaurant is located in an attractive neighborhood of Pondichery.
The pizzas and indian dishes are tasty and copious whereas the salads are tiny, worthless !!
The french dishes and drinks are okay.
The value for money is good.
We were well welcomed by the waiters and the boss who invited us to her jelwerry boutique.

Great food.Great ambiance.Perfect for a get away place and have something different for a change. So when in pondicherry this place is a must visit.

I had ordered a soup, a salad and pizza and honestly I didnt like anything. The salad was terrible, it was just cut vegetables. I was not able to eat it. The pizza was blank in taste. Never going there again.

The place is very shady with the worst service and food. I ordered fish and chips along with marinated chiken pizza. It was served 1 hour late. Later, they served pizza and kept us waiting for 15 mins for the seasoning. They refused to bring fish and chips till we finished pizza. Then after 20 mins of waiting further, they served fish and chips and did not give the sauce. They again kept us waiting for 15 mins for the sauce and later turned up with tomato ketchup in a dirty bowl. I mean, who the hell on the planet serves fish and chips with tomato ketchup? Moreover, the owner is a big idiot who doesn't know how to treat his guests. I would suggest you to never visit this place if you don't want your money to be wasted.
Shikhar Gupta
Visited this place with my wife for a dinner and it was one of the worst restaurant experiences I have ever had. Their service levels are pathetic. Also, the quality of dishes is very poor according to the price they charge. Never going back here.
Nirmalya Chowdhury
This is basically a place for boozing and smoking. They dont know cooking. Had a seafood sizzler and chicken sizzler, both were pathetic, without a side of proper veges and sauce. Waste of money.

Visited la terrase a day before Christmas. It was too crowded. I had ordered a pizza and waited for more than an hour. They goofed up my order and served it to someone else. Later at closing time they told me that they don't have the ingredients for pizza. Such a careless attitude. I was so hungry and I had reminded them many times in between still they made such an error. I was furious but the waiter was laughing while he apologized. They had Spoiled my evening entirely. My friends had veg noodles and prawns biryani which also arrived an hour late. I regretted going there and ruining my day.

It was my first visit to Puducherry and I had an an amazing experience especially with the food, I loved the paneer pizza the most, a must try.

Went on an evening occasion with friends..
Had a nice time with pizzas rather than with my frnds..
Pizzas tastes delicious..
Rest. Is very spacious to gather with frnds..
Rate is comparatively low than other tastiest pizza restaurants in pondy..

Kindly ignore this restaurant even if you are starving for more than 2 days. It's a total waste of your holiday time and money.
This is the worst rating and it deserves it.

This was the first restaurant we tried in Pondicherry. It's located close to the sea beach. There is nothing fancy about the environment , but it's cosy and it u will like it. We had Chinese food there. Soup and chicken fried rice was good. The chilli chicken could have been better. We didn't get the spicy chilli flavour and the chicken seemed boiled rather than fried.
Sreemoyee Biswas
Cute little place near the beach, very pocket friendly with a good variety on the menu, one of my favourites here! 😌 Try the chicken steak and flavoured lassis. I would suggest not to go gor the pizza tho.
A rip-off in the name of a so-called institution in Puducherry. It was the only place in Puducherry which left me fuming. Went there for our last breakfast- very bad decision.
Food
On the plus- Eggs with bacon were good and not too dry.
On the downside- Toast doesn't come with scrambled eggs. You need to order it separately!! Who eats scrambled eggs without a bread of any sort??
Waiter offered to get butter with the toast (which of course is charged extra)
Lemon Tea- is just a tea bag with sliced lemon. Wow! We didn't have to slice our lemon so I guess that's a plus.
Scrambled eggs were sweet and dry so a very unpleasant mix of sweet and savory for my taste buds.
Ambiance
It's basic. Some might see it as old school and charming.
Service
The place was empty since we got there at 10 am. Yet we were given our bill before we even finished. I guess they wanted to make room for all the waiting patrons...(cue- crickets chirping)

Superb ambience. Very near to the beach with a laid back setting. Loved the fish & chips and the steak The pizza served was also very unorthodox.

Popular around forigne crowd, perfect Italian restaurant. Exquisite Italian cheese, lovely ambeince indeed! Not much expensive but one of the must visit place.

Horrible food. They even don't know what french food is?? Even they don't even cook Indian food. No manners. Even roadside seller can cook local food better than them.
Never go there
Pratyush Das
A great place to dine. Decent food and drink in reasonable prices. Their beef steak, sizzlers, is enough to seduce your taste buds. Fresh fruit juices are a great accompaniment.
Swapnendu Roy
VERY much RUDE and ARROGANT waiters. Very much IGNORANT attitude towards the diners. Does not have a good variety of foods. Not authenticate in taste also.
Overall very disappointing dinning experience.
Poonam Singh
It has no variety at all anymore. The La Terrasse pizza is full of tomatoes each slice as an inch of ham and prawns.... Its lost its authenticity and charm. Rude waiters. They don't have a clue that Chinese cuisine is different from Vietnamese cuisine ... it was an disappointment.
Sathyan S
Pondicherry's So called Restaurant needs lots of improvement.. again a dinner that went horrible, this at La Terrasse. Went for dinner tonight and ordered at 9:15, pizza came and came the dessert and when we asked the waiter they didn't have any clue where our main course was and at 9:45 he comes and tell that Rice and Noodles are over.. at the table we were having a gravy item without any rice or noodles and a dessert . We were really hungry so told to get the bill and the person who looked like the owner didn't even apologies for the inconvenience..
Krupa Varghese
Great food at reasonable prices. The place is located very close to the beach and the interiors are an additional plus to this place :) Their pizzas are very filling. Their fish is really good too. This place ticks all the boxes for a great restaurant!

Such a cute small place...looks like a shack from outside....beautiful management....the food was superbly awesome...they will get you soda lime served in their own way...we 4 had platter ..fish,prawns etc..I loved it to the core. AWESOME place to be

P.S-they don't serve alcohol 😊

Located in the white town of pondicherry, this place provides you food at a very pocket friendly budget. If you are looking for some place where you get food in a huge quantity with less price then you can go here. I

Four of us have visited the restaurant after seeing various reviews but all to our disappointment.

Ambiance: The ambiance was average. There wasn't anyone to help you with a table or at least arrange some chairs. There were abundant presence of mosquitoes & insects.

Service: It was in the worst condition. No one's bothered to give a menu card & later take down the order. Many fellow customers were too sitting for 30 mins without being able to place the order. The waiter (owner herself) doesn't know what's available in the menu. After ordering successfully for an hour we get to know that one item is over & they can no longer provide the same. This was a disaster & spoiled the entire evening for us. They bring the side dishes first and forget to give the main course.

Food: Food was good though but unfortunately we weren't in a state of mind to enjoy the same.

Management: Special mention of the owner lady for showing the worst ever sense of taking responsibility. Since she took the order from us & goofed up the same, we requested other staff to ask her to meet us & provide an answer. To our utter surprise she did not appear in front us to explain the issue rather sat on different table to eat her dinner ignoring all the chaos happening around due to her. It was not only us but many tables were complaining the same & many left the place disgusted. Moreover she & other staff were shouting inside the open kitchen in front of all customers. This was an extremely unprofessional act.

I would strongly recommend to them to hire a professional to manage this place to provide a way better customer experience.

Came here for dinner during my visit to Pondi. It is a small restaurant and ambiance is not that great. There was way too many mosquitoes biting you and we can't enjoy the food peacefully. But the food was really good and tasty.

We had their seafood sizzlers which have both fish and prawn alongwith some fries and sautéed vegetables in it. The food was really really good and tasty. We also had Vanilla milkshake and cold coffee which was a big help in the humid weather. I have to say it was worth the visit.

A small menu but very nice and laid back place! No alcohol served but fresh juices aplenty.....had the first Rockfish in A la Creme style with boiled veggies....also tried the fish curry with steamed rice....:the luncheon was superb and worth every penny!!

If you're going away from the beach towards the Railway Station road, you'll see this restaurant on the left hand side. Battered Signboards, Overgrown hedges on the sides, you'll actually do a double take and wonder if nature has reclaimed this property or not.
Jokes aside, when it comes to the food, La Terrasse is not that bad. But it isn't great either.

Appetizers - The usual spread of so called "French" delicacies. Nothing too exciting is in this part of the menu.

Entrée - The pizza is good. Wood Fire Oven Baked pizza, with choice of toppings. Serving size is adequate for two.
Pasta is also so-so, and the flavors don't play well sometimes. It was a little disappointing. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much rosemary.
The French styled meats were extremely good. Cooked well.
Rice and Noodles are also available. No comment about them.

Desserts - One part of their menu which I really liked. If you have a liking for sugary after meals, I'd suggest you go through it once.

Ambience - Could have been better. Uncomfortable plastic chairs and tables. Service is not that great either.

Expenditure - 300 to 500 an individual

Verdict - Worth a visit.
Kavitha Vinodh
This is a humble place with a bit of continental and Indian cuisine on their menu.
Their specialties were wood fired pizza and I went for the Mushroom and Cheese pizza which was quite good. Tried garlic prawns, which were fresh and succulent. We ordered Ginger fish curry as accompaniment for rice and it was mildly spicy. Had banana flambee for dessert as it was their specialty. But it had just tasted normal and nothing over the top.
The staff were courteous and there were many European customers coming in when we settled the bill. Ignoring the ambience, the food was good.
My rating is as below
Food - 3.4
Ambience - 2.5
Value for money - 3.5
Hospitality - 3

Not a great place to be in white town...
the food is just ok ok...service is also slow....place dull lit and poor ambiance.
The pizza we ordered was really large...a pineapple n cheese based...but was very much bland.
Grape juice was ok...but papaya was milk shake like and very bad...
The french food-a fish served with finger chips was done well...
Suvo Pyne
This one is one dingy but cosy shack-esque place where you can get food that belong to different cuisine altogether. You can get woodfire pizza as well as tandoori dishes.

It's extremely near to the beach and a good place to have your meals. The la terrasse special pizza was excellent.
Vineeth Gaddam
This is a quiet place beside Asian House at the end of the beach road. People here we every responsive I guess they are french, they take care abt every aspect while taking the orders..We tried chicken bread and Spl La.Terrasse Pizza and to our surprise the quantity was adequate and taste too good.. Would like to visit this place nxt time also..
Abhishek Rao
Fabulous as before, visited them in 2013 and now.. The service is amazing and so is food.. Do visit them, it's at the end of Promenade Beach lane with fabulous interiors.. Do try their Garlic Prawns and Bread Chicken and fresh juices on the house...
Abhishek Moses
The place looks pretty good. With a decent ambience. We ordered beef steak. The brown sauce added a good flavour to the whole thing. Another good dish was Poulet a champinion ala creme which was a dish made from chicken having a sweet tinge to it. The place was decently priced and was with good food.
Ashish Prabhakar
Just beyond the Rock Beach, La Terrasse is a great place to be on a cool december evening.
The place has a beautiful, laid back feel to it, thanks in no part to the thatched roof.
The food is pretty snazzy, with the Chaiyo being a speciality(be warned though, the Chaiyo's are limited in their availability) and make sure you say "yes" to the fish sauce that comes with it.
And the Pizza's are superb, best I've had in Pondy.
Bottom line: This is one place you *must* visit before you leave Pondy. Let the place charm you and maybe if you're feeling adventurous, throw In a dash of the fish sauce on your pizza and discover a whole new taste!
Mehernosh Bhathena
Good food, not too expensive.
Loved the fish in ginger garlic sauce.
Also had the fried fish and chips and the roast chicken - the classic recipes. The meat was cooked well and was juicy.(not over cooked in the British stereotypical sense).
The soups are not very good though.

They have English/French/Hindi speaking staff.
Nevia Singhal
They have different menus for different timings.. i went with my friends for breakfast and it was raining heavily.. enjoyed this place.. the omlet and eggs variety is too good.. French toast and bhurji was good.. And their Masala chai just made my day.. The ambience is a little dull but overall ok...

Authentic continental and chinese food. If you are in Pondicherry, there is no way you should escape this cuisine. Lovely ambience, very near to Rock Beach. If you are in this restaurant, you should not miss on Mixed Noodles (which will have beef, prawns spread over it) and beef steak (which will have assorted vegetables and french fries alongside).
Robins Roy
Try the chicken sizzler n garlic fish. The fried rices n noodles seem t be below par.. Not so great ambience. Your verdict depends on what you try.
Foodie
The ambience is no that great but boy, the food nailed it for me. The Chinese, the pastas, the steaks..everything was a ten on ten. The best thin crust pizza I had in Pondi. Pricing is very reasonable too. The minus is that they very conservatively stick to the rule of not serving alcohol while the other places manage to camouflage and get you some. Must try!!
Chandan CM
We had been here to try 'a French Restaurant', unfortunately we were almost late; the menu appeared to tempting. To start we ordered Noodle Soup, and ola! Those guys got us Noodles instead of soup! And the soup was below average! We wanted to try Pizzas unfortunately the delay due to misunderstanding made us walk in at the last minute, so they could not serve us Pizzas. Pricing seems to be affordable, ambiance is fusion of hutch and new-gen.

I can't consider as a complete review but had bitter experience.

This place has Smoking area and if you are ok with pets; yeaa they have a couple of cats roaming around!
Rachita Pati
A simple shack few hundred meters from the beach(close to Park guest house) with decent seating space and serving a good number of cuisines. I had completely overlooked this place in search of restaurants and cafes recommended by friends and zomato. Given the strict timings of the guesthouse gates closing at 10:30 sharp and with just 40 minutes in hand, we zeroed on Le Terrase.

The place is kept simple. Plastic chairs, fans above and open space for some breeze to come in. The pillars supporting the roof are palm tree trunks. Everything else on the wall and roof is wood or bamboo. It gives you the feel of sitting on the beach even though you are not.

It was a Sunday night and the place was packed. I could hear a lot of sizzles from sizzlers and the sight of pizzas made me even more hungry. With a lot less time in hand, we went in for some Chinese. We ordered a veg fried rice, a chilli mushroom in gravy, a veg noodles and a mushroom manchurian.

The service was slow, may be because of the peak time crowd. But when the dishes arrived after 25 minutes, we could hardly complain. Decent quantities, the mushrooms were cooked well in both the dishes. Can say it was some pretty good chinese for dinner that day.

With my curiosity to try something more we headed down to La terrasse again next morning for breakfast at around 10. Being a weekday morning the place was empty. I wanted to have an omelette and went on for a bacon omelette while my mother ordered a fruit salad with icecream. Yet again, the food arrived after about 20 minutes.

The fruit bowl had the in-season fruits with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the top. Just a simple fruit bowl! The bacon omelette however, disappointed me. There was very less bacon in the omelette, just a few pieces of strips here and there. At 120 and 160 bucks I had expected a little more from them.

Although I loved the place, the people and the chinese, with the trip coming to an end and our disappointment with the breakfast, we chose to have lunch elsewhere.

May be I shall visit the place on another visit later for their pizzas and sizzlers. :)
(31/08/2015)

A heart-felt disappointment. What may sound exaggerating to some would be entirely understood by foodies. That feeling when you, after a lot of forethought and discussion, zero in on one place, and they serve you half cooked chicken in the name of continental steaks. They were out of fish and prawns early on a day when anyone would expect a huge crowd. Pizzas, we were told, would take about 50 minutes so we were dissuaded from ordering them although we were ready to wait. We ordered Chicken Roast which turned out to be half-cooked chicken leg with manchurian sauce (yes, manchurian! and they were passing this off as French food). Chicken a la creme, which was extremely salty (when did the French start using salt in such proportions!) and again undercooked, when I pointed that out to them, they merely reheated and served me that back. And as if to make up for this, they flood your steak with French fries, entirety pointless. Add to that the lackadaisical attitude of the waiters. They take an absurdly long time to attend to you, I saw people at two tables walk away after having waited inexcusably long for their orders to be taken. Evidently they are understaffed, but that is no excuse for spoiling people's food and thus their mood. It is extremely saddening to see what could have been such a great restaurant, with such popular pizzas, turn out to be this for lack of staff and their laid-back attitude, perhaps knowing that the location confers to them an advantage. For the sake of food, I sincerely hope that changes.

First thing that I would like to mention about is the utter shock that I experienced by the fact that such a good restaurant has such low rating.
This place situated in a corner on the beach road of white town comes in the simplest form you can imagine or expect to find a restaurant in. Located in the courtyard of an old home, the place can house around 30-40 people at a time which I believe is the perfect no. if you want to enjoy your meal and at the same time have a proper conversation with your companions in the absence of chattering noise of an overcrowded restaurant. I really love such small places, as these are the places where you would generally find the best food in that locality. The authentic flavours of any place, specially at places like Puducherry are discovered at such places. They only attraction that they have is not costly decoration but the flavour of their food and calm ambiance.

Coming to food, I think most local people would agree with me on the fact that they serve amazing, if not the best French food in the town. In fact that's what we observed also, when we asked various restaurants and cafes they suggested us this place. The dishes are cooked to perfection with care so that the spices don't shadow the taste of the original ingredients used in dish.

A good example would be the Soft fried rice that we tried there. The flavour of each vegetable be it spring onions or carrots was individually identifiable and at the same time they all fused together to give a great united flavour. The same thing goes for their famous wood fired pizzas. the flavour of mushrooms, pineapple and the rich tomato sauce fused together with the mozzarella cheese created a unique cocktail of flavours which were no less than magic on a crispy pizza base.

All in all without taking more space I would say that if you are in Puducherry, then take out your wallet and run to this place and try the food here, else you are missing out on a great experience.

Food 4.5/5
Ambiance 4/5
Value for money 4/5

P.s They dont accept cards.

Not sure if this place deserves such poor reviews. This is a french restaurant that serves French Food for everyday consumption. Mind it that the French folks especially the senior citizens do visit this place often. So, i would actually not expect my meal to be so glazed. Anyone who has not tried the pizza here might give a minimal rating, but since I did - and thank god I did.

The pizza was absolutely amazing. It's a fire pizza as they call it. Had it once when I was here in 2008 and had it last week again. The taste has not changed and nor has the quality. So if I would actually be here. I would be here only for the Pizza. Everything else, is out of the equation.

A very cool and pleasant ambience. It being a multi cuisine.. U hv a variety of dishes to try out. A perfect place for peace lovers. A lovely taste of steaks is definitely a worth try. The prawns are slighted on the higher side of the price but amazing taste. Sea food lovers will thoroughly enjoy the meal

Delicious steak with french fries
Typical french restaurant with a great ambiance in front of the sea.
Okay, most of the reviewers have complained about the place. None of them have tried the pizza here. The shack looks dismal and as you enter, there would be a barrage of street dogs outside waiting for the owner to feed them. Inside, there would be 3-4 cats lazying around. The fans would be turned on where you decide to sit, an ordinary looking guy would come with the much-flipped menu and you'd jump to the rice and "manjoorian" and "noodels" and chicken this and chicken that and prawn masala and whatnot. Stop! They know their pizza. And they know their salad. And they know their simple steamed fish. How can one be disappointed in a thin crust, wood-fired, heavily loaded, locally procured cheese pizza is beyond me! They can put joints like Dominos and Pizza Hut to shame. And their salads.. when the bowl/plate arrives, you can tell that lettuce is so fresh, it refuses to sit down. All in all, if you like your pizzas, do give them a chance.

La Terasse, a quaint little...oh who am I kidding, this place was utter tripe (which also happens to be a food term, but La Terasse wouldn't know much about food anyway).

We walked in (more like hesitated for fifteen minutes outside because nobody else was there, but ran out of options) for breakfast, and ordered as assortment of dishes - crepes, sandwiches, coffees, and teas. I ordered the crepe without realizing that it might have egg (silly me), and when I asked the lone waiter (if you are imagining Server Sundaram, well, stop now, because Server Sundaram was awesome) if it did, he looked at me as if I were a witchdoctor in the middle of a curse. A friend of mine was denied extra chocolate syrup for her crepe, which was as dry as the Atacama on a Chennai summer day. When I asked for cold coffee, I was told it would come only with icecream, and when it arrived, I knew why - the cold coffee was literally coffee that was chilled, to which a small scoop of chocolate icecream was added. Friends of mine ordered lemon tea (tiny lemon wedge and Taj Mahal dip bag along with lukewarm water), cheese toast (cheese pieces (yup) placed between bread slices, and not even heated - they charged a whopping hundred bucks for that too, and French Toast minus powdered sugar. The ambience and service were top notch for a roadside eatery...actually, no, roadside eateries easily have better service.

Places like La Terasse make me wonder why Zomato has nothing lower than a 1.0 rating. Oh, and I should mention, if you're looking for breakfast in White Town, it would be wiser to starve. Or eat sand (cheaper and definitely can't taste as bad). But however desperate your situation, do not eat at La Terasse.

Bloody awful.

It was like they were trying to teach us what the word 'literal' means. Lemon tea? We got hot water, a Tetley bag, sugar and a lemon wedge. The cold coffee tasted like they'd let hot coffee chill in the freezer for a bit. The cheese sandwich was basically slices of cheese in bread. And the poor thing had never met an oven in its life.

But let's move onto my order. The pancakes were actually crepes. And when I asked for chocolate syrup because it was super dry (and hello? Who DOESN'T smother their pancakes in maple syrup/chocolate syrup), I was politely told that they don't give out extra chocolate syrup. The guy who ordered French Toast was left in a similar situation except I, atleast, had SOME lubrication because it was a chocolate banana crepe. Poor chap had only powdered sugar on his FT.

And the service...well, it was a class apart.

Like another reviewer said: what's good about this place? Nothing. Absolutely nothing.

P.S - Watch out for dogs. They like to camp out under the tables for naps.

How does a open air, moderate seating and one person to 12 tables sound to you?

Yup, me neither.

I really wish I could say great things about this restaurant who tells us they are out of rice at 2pm and then serve rice half an hour later to the table nearby.

I also wish I could say good stuff about their chicken noodles or fish chilly.

I also wish I could say that they didn't keep the fish chilly on the table while we waited for our noodles.

Service needs a drastic change. Please oh please hire at least one more person. You cannot run a one man show.

So what's great? Nothing. Miss it.

Nice ambiens and good food. Try garlic beef. It's authentic chinese. Pizza looks good, but I haven't tried it yet. The best value for money in the White Town.

Good food, not too oily, not too spicy. Good prices, value for money. Nice location, right at the end of the beach boulevard. French, Indian and Asian cuisine.

This place has a very soothing ambience. The staff is very courteous and the quality and quantity of the food is excellent. Had Egg noodles, chicken fried rice and chicken manchurian. All the dishes were very nicely prepared. You can definitely give this place a try, you won't be disappointed. The only flaw that I found was that the service time was a bit more than expected. Thats the only thing they need to improve.

Had been here for lunch. Prawn manchurian and chocolate milkshake: very good! Had to wait a little longer for fried rice and it wasn't upto the mark. Ambience is nice and service is decent.

Its a small restaurant on the ground floor. Decent food and value for money (relatively). Food is a little on the bland side. Banana milkshake was the best part of our breakfast. Yummy! Pancakes, though on the menu, were not available. A decent place I would say.

One of the worst places you can go to for any kind of meal. First of all its on ground floor and a sad looking place. Horrible service and attitude. If you order pancakes, you get crepes and that too horrible. It has sugar granules and hardly any filling. They serve bru coffee in the name of filter coffee. Omlettes were decent. Dont go here unless you want to spoil your day.

The place has good ambience good service . The food served is value for money and one of the few places opened late night in Pondicherry. It's a roof top restaurant and very near to the beach. And they serve good desserts.

La terasse was a good find as far as food is concerned in pondicherry. Its situated right next to the petrol pump at the starting of the promenade rocky beach. So as we enter, we absolutely fell in love with the place...a garden like set up which was absolute lovely and cozy at the same time. The waiters were very polite. We went twice to this place...once for lunch and the other for dinner. Keep in mind that all the restaurants have a fixed time of closing in pondi be it lunch or dinner. Its closes by 3 pm for lunch and 10pm for dinner. For lunch we started with lemon soda and butter milk. Then came the starters...garlic chicken and chicken manchurian...both tasted gud...and the quantity was also quite decent. Everything in the restaurant is so moderately priced unlike some othr resto in pondi. Thats the best part of this place. It will not burn a hole in your pocket. For the main course we had ordered mixed fried rice(non veg) , chicken fried rice, chilli chicken gravy and chilli fish. All the dishes were awesome. The taste, quality and quantity were good.
For the dinner we had ordered thin crust pizza...pizza hawaian...it was so authentic and out of the place that we ordered another one. The chicken and the vegetables used were so fresh and it was very tasty. We had also ordered dry chilli chicken wch was gud accomponied by the pot coffee. It was a very gud experience to dine at La Terasse. Its must try is the banana pan cakes which we missed out coz of a lot of ppl had turned out in the long weekend but next time we will def. gonna try that. In short...Decent place...decent food with a value of money.

Tucked in a corner of the beach in White Town, sits a little piece of France, next to the Flashy Asian House, It brings french home cuisines to the hustle bustle of Pondicherry beach somehow the honesty of this place shines through.

With no feel of a glam sham knitted into shacks and moderate tables,
La Terasse draws you into an environment, balmy and some high quality food. Start off with either the Lemon Soda or balance it out with the bitterness from the French Coffee.
The Poulet Au Champignon A La Creme is a classic example of a dish that truly exemplifies this place. The rates unlike other restaurants have not been shooting towards the sky, but this creamy sauced chicken is still kept on the menu at very decent rate. Served on a crispy toasty piece of chicken, this dish impresses you with the earthiness of the fresh wild mushrooms like chanterelles or porcinis enveloped in the creamy sauce.

Banana Chocolate Pan-cakes are something you cannot afford to miss here.
