Review Sri Balajee Mess - Pondicherry

This review is purely based on food taste and quality. We were a bit skeptical after seeing the photos but I'm glad that we visited it. If you are looking for north Indian/Rajasthani food, this is the place you should visit. We ordered two Thali which costed 150/- each. The food was yum and had authentic Rajasthani taste. Owner and servers were also from Rajasthan and it was pleasant to talk to him. The ambience is a bit sub standard but it's located in busy Market and space is a luxury there. Price wise very pocket friendly. Parking will be a problem and you will have to park on the road sides in adjacent Streets. Mind the one-sided roads, Google map might show some outdated path as the traffic police have put boards of one-way only. So be extra vigilant of such boards. Overall, go for it if you are carving for North Indian food in Pondicherry/Puducherry.

- food 5*** - taste 5*** - proper north Indian taste - price is cheap**** - hospitality 5*** - we ate a lot in just 340rs...... After roaming around all the cafes, we were done with gluten... Best place to have best home food. Don't look for the fancy ambiance and go here.. In the end taste matters.

This restaurant gives you good quality, tasty and budget friendly food, I did breakfast,lunch even dinner all the time it satisfies me

The best place for a Indian from north side of the country to enjoy the same taste as in the north if you have been in tamil nadu from a long time and have not had the same spicy and delicious taste from your hometown this is the best place to go to. Service is very fast and behaviour of staff is good only drawback is the space as it is very popular with people it is mostly crowded and there is not much place to sit very freely if they plan to expand the place It will be great.

Ever since I’ve been in Bangalore I craved for good North Indian food just like dhabas but this wish came true on my trip to Pondy. We asked some Zomato folks where could we eat some good North Indian food and they all told the same place. We went in there for the dinner on last day of our trip and the food we got there was proper Rajasthani taste food. We just kept ordering and eating like anything and ultimately we were full. Plus the place is so pocket friendly that the bill for 4 people with wholesome food and dairy drinks costed around 760 only. The place was so good that before leaving too we canceled our plan to visit Rock Beach and have our breakfast here only in the morning.

Good place, value for money. Serves North Indian food too which is little difficult to find in this part of the country.

It’s a small place but food is very hot, fresh and tasty just like home cooked. Unless you need a fancy ambience, this place is worth every penny! Tried Dine in, Take out, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Exceptional service.

Food is simple and homely. I felt it to be one of the best north Indian Veg in Pondi. They customised my order for less oil and it really was so!

Great food. Everytime we visit pondy, this is a go to place. We loved the Aloo Paratha and methi Paratha. Loved the cost sitting and the service.

Food : Superb. Go for Veg thali. Heaven for North Indians as food is good, healthy, tasty and quantity is not an issue . If you order two thali, one complementary special dish they will provide. In Pondicherry, this is one of the best food place. Only issue, space is very less. Meals is available from morning around 11 am upto night almost 1 am. And quality will be always fantastic.

Must place to eat great taste, great person. If you can't dinin take parcel better taste the fancy cafes here.

Adorable staff, really caring. 150Rs for the full plate and they come to ask you if you want more of this or that. Great value for money in Puducherry !

I ordered for North Indian lunch. It is very bad. Instead of two subji there is only one subji. The subji is also very thin. Palak cooked with yam. No papad, no sweet, no curd. I will not going to order any more with the hotel.

Worst food I ever had in my life . Please don't waste your money in this balaji mess. I ordered chole masala and paneer Paratha .In paneer Paratha there is no paneer and poori isn't cooked in good oil . sweet lassi is the worst .

Awesome for authentic north indian food!!Meals was stomach full and served with more number than specified!!The sabjis are nice..unlimited sabjis ..pickles served are yummy and every food had their home cooked style!Must visit!(if you pocket is empty and u feel hungryyy)

Rice is not quite boiled. Taste of the items is not upto mark. Ketchup given with item is actually not required for the item. Cutlery was included, even after mentioning to not include it.

Ordered in. Not good at all.<br/><br/>Paneer was tough like hard rubber, dry stale-ish rotis and pulao cooked like oily fried rice.<br/><br/>Plus bad ordering experience with zomato.

I order north indian thali and bhindi.. Everything was perfect like home made food.. Chapati is hard to find here and expensive but they gave 5 chapati with mix veg,dal, alo ki sabji, curd , hawla. You cant get cheaper option here if you are looking for north Indian food.

Chapati and Bhaji is good here. Rice is very bad though. Not hygenic at all.. But, Home made sort of vegetarian food at very affordable price. Nice place to visit often if you are staying in Pondy for a while.
