Review Kayani Bakery - Pune

Mayur Aundhakar
Iconic bakery in Pune serving since 1955. What I tried ๐ŸคŒ๐Ÿผ 1- Shrewberry cookies. 2- Banana Cake. 3- Coffee Cake. 4- Mango Cake. 5- Cream Roll. . . Shrewberry cookies are good but the coffee cake won my heart. You will get freshly baked cakes and cookies. Spongy cakes are the best. All other cakes were average. In other hand .... No parking area Long queue Need more co operative staff
Siddharth Bhowmik
Typical old school bakery. Iconic place in Pune for their biscuits and other bakery products. One has to stand in a queue to get to the counter. Their stocks are limited so be there in time to get your stuff.

Pune's Kayani Bakery ranks 18th on the list of the World's '150 Most Legendary Dessert Places'. It is famous for its mawa cake and shrewsbury biscuits. During the week, the shop is usually crowded on Saturdays, but it is closed on Sundays. It has no branches, franchisees or outlets anywhere in the country except Kayani Bakery, Camp, Pune and online delivery Zomato.

No Compromise on Taste & Quality in all items they produce. There is always a queue outside and amazing aroma outside. The bakery is very very clean and neat. All items kept in huge steel boxes. Every item speaks volumes to quality ingredients used and melts in your mouth. Biscuit,Rusk are amazing...

Picked up a choco walnut cake, shrewberry biscuits and ginger biscuits based on the reviews friends and family had given. Loved the cake and ginger biscuit while the shrewberry biscuits turned out to be nice.

No doubt the confectionery are good , thats why they have so long que for taking the same We went for plum - but was sold out We took shrewberry biscuits & some tea cake both were just wowโ€ฆ. Service is slow as they write order in tortoise speedโ€ฆ Ambiance is as old type like irani hotels Bur overall a good place on busy street of campโ€ฆ
Always a way
A very Puneri place of Camp area from past. Nothing beats this. Mawa Cake and Shrewsbury biscuit are most famous. Be ready to be in line to get the items. But the trouble is worth the effort.

Heard alot about Kayani Bakery so decided to visit . When reached, there was queue and they were allowing limited people inside based on available team member to attend customers. Bought Khatai and Ginger biscuits, Mango and banana pan cake, Fruit cake. Mango and Banana pan cakes are very tasty ans must have

Must visit! Their Shrewsbury biscuits are a delight and yes! they are eggless. Also, don't miss out on the Mawa Cake. The place is from 1950's and Punekars love this bakery. The place is usually crowded and there is a long queue. A quick pick and drop might be difficult so find a space to park. They serve on zomato as well.

Kayani Bakery in Pune's Camp area is a legendary establishment, beloved by locals and tourists alike for its exceptional baked goods. The bakery's fame primarily rests on its Shrewsbury biscuits, which are a perfect blend of crispiness and buttery flavor, making them an irresistible treat for anyone with a sweet tooth. The ambiance of Kayani Bakery is simple and unassuming, reflecting its focus on quality and tradition rather than modern aesthetics. The place often buzzes with activity, indicative of its popularity and the high demand for its products. Despite the crowd, the service is remarkably efficient, with staff members who are quick and helpful, ensuring that customers are attended to promptly. Apart from the iconic Shrewsbury biscuits, the bakery offers a range of other items such as mawa cakes, sponge cakes, and a variety of bread. All products are known for their freshness and distinctive taste, a testament to the bakery's commitment to quality and traditional baking methods. The only downside is that the bakery tends to run out of its most popular items quickly, so it's advisable to visit early. Also, they only accept cash payments, which is something to keep in mind. Overall, Kayani Bakery offers a delightful experience, especially for those who appreciate the charm of old-school bakeries and the unmatched taste of freshly baked goods. Its enduring popularity over the years is a clear indicator of its quality and the fondness it enjoys among its patrons.

I like Brazilian biscuits, Khatai Mawa cake, they are very tasty. It is like a government office having open for a particular time, and sometimes bakery products can also be out of stock . Quality taste wise cake and biscuits are very good, totally worth it. Highly recommended

This shop is quite famous for its legacy. We tries shrewberry and ginger biscuits. They were quite tasty (specially the ginger one). We reached there early and we're first in the line so did not have to wait too much but yeah, there is always a queue. So be prepared. And queue was managed properly.

Big queue outside bakery. I love this place, you must visit here. Overall atmosphere is really good. Crowd is always in rush. Getting here is very is, you can put name on google map and you can reach here easily. Try once and you will love it. This is my personal opinion and it's all about you how can we adjust or enjoy the moment. I love biscuits, mava cake from my childhood.

Iconic bakery of Pune..Shewberry biscuits, cream sponge cake, Mawa cake and Khari biscuit all taken home, once eaten maybe can comment about the taste. But there was a lot of stress to decide what you want as there was a huge crowd and the staff just wanted you out of their hair with your order done quickly, such a big rush and so much tension, finally got helped by a customer to decide what's good.
SK
I have not physically visited this place but everytime someone is coming from Pune they have to have to bring the mawa cake and the chocolate walnut cake from here. It is an absolute delight to have
Ashima Bhandari
This was one among the horrible experiences I had with the Shrewsbury biscuit which I got from the bakery. I noticed there was a worm coming out of the biscuit which was alive. This is what a reputed bakery serves to their customer. Such a pathetic experience. What kind of quality is this. I would strongly not recommend this bakery anymore.
Sagar Wanjare
Choco walnut cake and fruit Madeira cake are the best. They always deliver fresh ones and well packed.
Akhilesh
this is one of the oldest & the most famous irani bakery in pune which is famous for its shrewberry busicuits & mawa cake. The quality & taste is still the same as it was in the begining days. The rush is quite huge & sometime you may have to stand for longer ques for getting stuff but its worth the time standing. Also you can try other busicuits everything is amazing Definitely do visit this place when you come to pune

You may choose to publish it but i am honestly a very big fan of Kayani especially their cakes. But this was a bad experience. The Madeira cake that i got was downright stale! i am so upset as i was very glad Zomato was delivering this to my location and yet, so disappointed with the product :(

Hi. I bought Shrewsbury (Rs. 440/kg) and Chocolate (Rs. 320/kg) cookies. I found the taste of both the cookies to be below average. The taste didn't justify the price.

Please note that Chocolate cookies are non vegetarian.
Myy_simple_life
Must visit for anyone who's coming to pune..
the mawa cake is best .. loved the choco walnut cake priced at RS 150, its value for money..
But the most famous Shrewsbury biscuit that they have was just ok 4 me .. its too sweet i liked the coconut biscuit better
The cupcakes r nice too .. also had rawa toast which is really crisp n also its not made of maida..
Mawa cake walnut cake both at Rs 150
Shrewsbury Biscuits for Rs 110 1/4kg a bit expensive.
Toast at Rs 80 1/4kg (loved it)
Vaishnavi
The quality of the product has gone down drastically.
Apurva Periwal
I love their Shrewsbury biscuits... I have also tried their mawa cake but their biscuits are better than mawa cake.
Natasha Dias
Love this place. Wish they had a branch in Mumbai!

I had heard a lot about this place and finally got a chance to visit.

N doubt people are crazy about this place. I happen to walkin in the middle of the day on a weekday and had to stay in line for around 20 minutes just to pick a packet of biscuit. But no doubt it is worth all the wait.

Loved their Shrewsbury biscuits. A must try for all

Shrewsbury Biscuits @ Kayani Bakery, East Street, Pune

Taste - 5, Quantity - 4, Quality - 5, Hygiene - 4, Service - 5, Ambiance - 3

Verdict - Must Eat This

I had heard a lot about the iconic Kayani Bakery exporting the famous Shrewsbury cookies or biscuits as locally known. The bakery is an old establishment where the ambiance wold teleport you to a time 25-30 years back. However, the biscuits are crisp, flavor-fully delicious and smell amazing. I took one pack for the way back home.

P.S. - They serve some amazing cakes too.

#musteatthis #pune #punekar #puneeats #bakery #biscuits #iconic #cookies #foodporn #craving

An amazing bakery for your tea time snacks fix.
One of my favourite spots for freshly baked biscuits.
The only issue, which is proof of their quality is that it is always crowded
Recommendations are Shrewsbury biscuit and Mawa cake
Saichand
One of the oldest and best bakery in town, have very limited working hours and too crowded but itโ€™s worth tasting. Mawa cake, chocolate walnut cake, Shrewsbury biscuits are famous out there and one must try.
Divyans Mahansaria
This is old and famous bakery in Pune. I brought Shrewsbury biscuit and Walnut cake and both were good. The place is crowded at times. Price is slightly higher. I would recommend.
Nisha Pathak
Wow, very crispy and tasty Shrewsberry biscuits. It's not only famous in Pune but also in Bangalore. My friends in Bangalore always requests me to get these biscuits for them.
Sagarika Bibikar
Kayani Bakery is a variety of sweet & savoury treats! It is one of the famous bakeries for breads & cakes. If you haven't been here, you should definitely try out the variety of mava cakes & biscuits. Enjoy your visit & share experiences!

After hearing a lot about this bakery today I visited kayani bakery and got some cookies and cream roll before placing order I told staff that I have plastic money and he did agreed upon it as I wanted to purchase few more items which where EGGLESS but no such items where available and he was insiting me for taking items which contains EGG in it. And the worst part is, after i denied to take any Egg contained items he said he cant swipe card for 150 bucks and said "tuze akal hone chaiye paise leke aneki" "What should I do if u have card" "Go and withdraw amount from ATM then come in queue" and last was "Nikalo yaha se".ย
THIS IS NOT A WAY TO SERVE FOR YOUR CONSUMERS. I feel this bakery is in all "OVERRATED" #RESPECTYOURCONSUMER #KAYANIBAKERY

I am dating this place since childhood. This happens to be one of the oldest bakery in Pune. Always loaded with customers, you have to literally fight your way to the counter. They bake some amazing stuff. Our personal favourites are The Plain Cake, Mawa Cake, Fruit Cake (Madeira Cake), Cheese Papdi, Chocolate Chip Cookies and the most famous Shrewsbury Biscuits. You can literally taste the Butter in every bite of these Shrewsbury biscuits. None of our visits have ever been complete without these goodies. This place is Legendary!
Gaurav Sherwani
Absolutely Overrated. Shrewsbury biscuit tastes like butter cookies that one might get at a general store. Plus the service is pathetic. No place to dine in and eat as well.
If you bake you can pretty much make whatever they sell at home.
Siddarth N
You get the smell of freshly baked products as soon as you enter the shop. The place is packed with customers buying loads of baked goods. It reminded me of varriar bakery here in Bengaluru.
They have many varieties of cookies, cakes, etc. My personal favorites were Mawa cake and Shrewsberry biscuits.
Totally recommend this place for some carbohydrate craving relief :)

Shrewberry biscuits is extremely crispy that after dipping in tea, one can feel the crisp of the biscuits...Mango cake n Walnut cake r good...Plain cake is too dry... People r crazy for mawa cake but personally I didn't like it is same as Plain cake...
Place is too crowdy and people are rude over counter...
They don't give information about the product what it is n all...
It opens at 4pm daily n gets crowded..

The Kayani Bakery is a very old, famous and probably one of the most iconic places in Pune, located in the middle of town and just off MG road at Pune.ย

Kayani Bakery sells excellent products specially their Shrewsbury biscuits. This bakery also serves excellent cakes ( plain, choco - walnut, fruit ). Ginger biscuits, just to name a few of the awesome stuff that is sold here.

The bakery should however make some arrangement for an separate counter for order / payment and deliveries as it takes long to get your hand on the items ordered due to the huge rush at all times.
Tejaswee Shrestha
Probably one of the most iconic places in Pune - absolutely love their Shrewsberry Biscuit and plum cake. I really hope they open a branch in Bangalore soon. I make sure to ask my friends to get the biscuit every time they come from Pune.

The shrewsberry biscuits were absolutely delicious! Next, came the jeera biscuits. For me, the ginger biscuits were so-so and was disappointed that I could not try the chocolate ones. I would love to try their cakes as well next time I visit.

Another legendary irani outlet in Pune. Has been serving cakes, biscuits, breads etc etc since forever. Their service is super fast and you can collect your order in less than 5 minutes !

Had the following recently -

Mava cake - the foremost attraction of this eatery is the mava cake. The cake is not very sweet and not very bland. The sweetness is perfectly balanced which is what I like. You just can't have a single bite of this cake !

Shrewsbury biscuits - legendary product of this legendary outlet. Many bakeries claim to make authentic Shrewsbury biscuits however only this eatery can claim to have Mastered the art of making world class Shrewsbury biscuits. The biscuits are made in pure ghee/butter and are a treat for any biscuit lover.

Chocolate cake - Another cake offering from kayani bakery. The cake has adequate chocolate flavour and not very sweet just the way we all like. However mava cake is still my favourite !

Breads - this bakery also serves various types of breads. The breads are soft and fluffy and are always freshly made.

Overall rating -
Ambience - 3/5
Food quality - 5/5
Service - 5/5
Value for money - 5/5

On of the oldest and best bakery in town.
Too crowded but worth every penny.
There isn't a product that you won't like especially the mango cake.

This has got to be a must do on the list of anyone visiting Pune. For those who live in Pune it is already on their weekly if not daily list. Standing in East Street since forever, the waft of freshly baked goodies ibvites you from miles away!! The not to miss Shrewsbury biscuits are impossible to find anywhere else in India. None that can match up to Kayanis. The ribbon cake and fresh sponge cake are excellent and tea time in Pune cannot be without these. Please get your treats in the morning half as by evening a lot of the bakes get wiped off the shelves. A testimony to Kayanis popularity

Ambience - 3/5ย ย ย Food - 5/5ย Service - 3.5/5ย VFM - 4/5ย Parking - No

There are some places that define the culinary highlights of a city. Kayani Bakery of Pune is in that category of legendary outlets that have till date maintained their traditional techniques and not fallen prey to crass commercialization. This family run bakery still functions in a friendly and simple way. Come a little late and the you risk them running out of the limited stocks of their famous marble cake and rainbow cake!
Though the Shrewsbury biscuits are their most famous product, one should definitely try out their cakes, breads, khari and wine biscuit. And their Surti Jeera is my personal favourite. Other must haves are the Naankhatai, mava cake and coffee marble cake.
Just favorite! Love all the bakery products there. One of the best. Biscuits, cakes, breads, sugar free biscuits. Well almost good whatever you pick

One the finest and buttery cookies I have ever tasted. This bakery has different vibes of vintage feel of food and ambience.

Must try: Try strewburry cookies.
Highly recommended.
I heard of this very old and legendary outlet just a few weeks back and it gave a shock to my colleagues. So one of them was kind enough to get me a cake from this bakery and I eventually tried out other products as well. This outlwt doesnt have branches so this adds to its importance.

The tea cake, choco mava cake, khari, shrewberry biscuits and ginger biscuits were an absolute delight.

Will visit soon for more !

Any newbie or puneite, will definitely visit kayani once in a lifetime, rather (many a times). So, what attracts the most public? Truly, their freshly baked range of cakes and cookies.
It is an old joint in camp area, people line up even before the bakery opens for service. The most crowded time is during the Christmas, you need to be lucky to get a pick.

Mava cake and Chocolate Walnut Cake, are the most demanded product. Both are mouthwatering, delicious, super soft, perfectly balanced, and satisfying.. What more to say.. U will know only after tasting them.

Next in queue are the cookies, my favorite or pune's favorite are their Shrewsbury Biscuits, a complete melt in the mouth on every bite. #highly recommended.

So, when are you marking your visit.
Amarjeet
Their cakes were one of the best cakes in pune, but now for last few months the cakes are very dry and not fresh as it used to be . So I request the owner of kayani bakery to maintain their product quality .
A brand new joint does not have as much as taste as an experienced one (I'm not being controversial, just giving my expert comments.)

Kayani Bakery is the oldest of all bakeries in this wonderful city named Pune. All old joints don't have much interesting variety, but Kayani is a mighty exception. Orange flavoured biscuits and boring, they cannot be together.

For some snacks, I fancied on some orange and coffee cookies. The orange ones were oval and a bit teeny weeny in size. Although it was a bit sweet, I went into the nostalgia of eating oranges about 6 months ago. (When I tried these cookies, it was the non timid summer.)

Cream Rolls are always fun and are cool. Getting that sweet and creamy sensation is always fun. And who doesn't say that Kayani isn't an expert in that! Classy!

I've always been intrigued when the word 'Coffee' is added before any type of food. So wouldn't it would be a crime if a don't try coffee cookies? The taste wasn't bitter nor mild either. Couldn't stop my clenching my teeth into the crunchy cookies. This wasn't as cute and tiny as the orange ones, but this one looked sturdy and a bit huge in circular shape.

And how can I forget the beloved Shrewsbury biscuits! Whatta taste, whatta class! The sweet, buttery taste, doing some scrumptious mischief on peoples' tongues! Cannot resist myself hogging it. Worth the hype.

So if you ever visit Pune, you shall NOT miss this place (this is not a request, this is an ORDER)

One word to describe this place: SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICEXPALIADOCIOUS!!!๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿช๐Ÿฌ

Ankita
Always having heard so much about Kayani bakery cakes, finally gave it a try. This place is always always just so filled with people that Only takeaways are possible.

I am not a fan of mawa, and so found the mawa cakes pretty decent. But then I was introduced to the choco walnut cake by a dear friend and well I realized, this was just the perfect cake for all my sweet cravings! It's chocolate cake, a bit dry so you can't have much at a time but its got an amazing taste with pieces of walnuts inside - a must have!
Neha Mankar
Two words: fruit cake! Their tea time cakes r the best! I always stock up on my every visit to this Bakery! Fruit cake, chocolate walnut , plain oh my all good!
Abhishek
This place has been there for decades and best part the taste still remains the same.

Famous for shrewsbury, mawa cakes, etc.
Personally dint like the ginger cookies.

P.S - Have some extra time as it's always crowded.

#98.

Any person coming to Pune or living in Pune should not miss this at all cost.

Must Have: Shrewsbeery cookies and Mawa cake.

One of the legendary bakery of Pune.

This place is quite old and taste has always been consistently the same.

Shrewsbeery cookies and Mawa cake is a must have.

I personally think that this outlet needs no reviewing done for their products.

You can blindly go for it and enjoy the cookies.

Overall:
Quality: ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ
Quantity: ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ

Mawa cake is super delicious and recommend.. You will always find fresh products at Kayani Bakery ..

It is one of the old and famous bakery in Pune..

Even Shrewsburry biscuits are crispy soft fresh and yummy...

Things to change: Timings of bakery.

Kayani bakery. It's a legend.

A must go to place for the most delicious and creamy shrewsberry biscuits. They also serve rich cakes and fruit cake and plum cake are my favorites.

Fast service despite the crowded counters, it's always bustling with people. The staff is very courteous and send you with a smile.

A place with a history. went early morning and saw a sizable crowd at 7:30am. But the service counters were super fast. Brought biscuits and cakes both of which were buttery and tasty. And neat packaging.
