This is my favorite place to enjoy authentic Maharashtran food...!
Best testy maharashtrian food.
The food is really great. I ordered for two thali for two people but it be be fine for 3 person. The taste is really awesome. I would highly recommend to order this thali. Just amazing!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐👍
The first thing that is amazing about the place is how clean it is; as someone who always visit places famous for Thalis I have always seen that they are old and sometimes not well kept, this place is a clear exception.
The food was exceptionally tasty, the beetroot salad reminded me of home, khichadi and kadhi were just right. One thing that hardly gets mentioned in a review or we notice is the bread but there's is something worth a mention, the bhakari and chapati both were as soft as they come. Bhakari has teel in them first time I saw that and loved it.
The price is tad bit high but worth it.
I left the place with sheer satisfaction. Thank you Janseva Bhojanalaya
One Of The bestest places to have a Maharashtrian Thali 🤩 Wonderful ambience,Clean place. Once you have been served with your thali the waiters make sure to come to time to time and ask for what you want more.Literally loved the taste of everything.I never like kheer easily but their's was really awesome. This Thali will surely fullfil your cravings..
This is the perfect place to eat authentic Maharashtrian thali.I realy recommending their Kokam Saar, matar patice and chich-gulachi aamti.😋Jansewa has very cooperative staff and polite , energetic manager who look after personally. It gives you homely feeling.😊😊
Not “The Best” place to have an authentic MH thali but indeed a must visit. Starter was good and so was some subzis. Loved the Moong dal khichadi too. Dessert was just fine.
I have been eating at Janseva for quite sometime and it is my go to place to fulfill cravings to have good Maharashtrian thali. The food is delicious and does not contain too much oil. Some may find the food a little sweet. The koshibir is too good, and so are all other preparations they serve
If you want to have Authentic Maharashtrian vegetarian food then this is the place. They are serving food since decade in popular area of Deccan Gymkhana near Chitale Sweets.
Don't expect lavish interiors, Air condition, etc
instead it is well maintained dining hall.
Thali is unlimited except Sweet.
They use less oil, less spicy preparation. Service is quick & served food is always hot.

You will surely get homely and delicious food here. They serve good variety of Maharashtrian dishes in thali with authentic Pune style taste. No excess of oil or spices... everything seems fresh and served hot. Menu is good too.
Only thing is the sweet is limited in thali (around 240₹ per thali) and have to pay extra for sweets.

When you are looking for a full meal thali then this is the place to be. Unlike some of the places in pune serving thali this place is simple but serves very delicious food. Staff also has smile on face while serving. Rotis are served hot and u keep on eating.
My fav place to njoy thali wth family.
This place is a hidden gem on Deccan gymkhana. You neither care about ambiance nor about the stream of rush coming to the restaurant when the food is so delicious and lip smacking. The menu here is reminiscent of the earstwhile Maharashtrian weddings where buffet was an unknown concept and Tawa veg or Paneer dishes didn't have place in wedding food. The spread is not an ecelctic mix of items, but a selected few ones prepared thoroughly. It's authentic Pune food and a must try!
Great home style maharashtrian veg food. Very simple, healthy, tasty and affordable as well as hygienic. Location is very central and staff is cordial.
Does my ratings need any review statement here.
Wow experience guys...
Ambience ok ok BUT
Food too too great & quantity too
Location nice
Staff good
Pricing decent
Time quick
Guys i dnt think he will improve ambience bcoz i know punekar and they change only of western world change else they call themselves as homo-sapiens of India
The variety and quality of their food is super delicious. Even their service is very fast. I would recommend to visit their on sunday as they have a special menu that day.
About last 17 years I am a big fan of janseva bhojnalay. My first preference was janseva and will remain janseva only. All food is outstanding. No problem at all .Service is best.Atmosphere is best enough.Feel like eating at home.
Maharashtrian food is bliss.
Best place so far to have authentic Thali in Pune at such a price.
The ambiance is typical Puneri.
The service is great I can say because of the politeness of the staff and their attitude.

Such a simple, warm and homely place.
The owner, the staff greet you with a smile.
Food ... Just no words ... Amazing !!!
Pluses - soft chapatis, less spicy (child friendly), non oily...
I was sure that all the ingredients are made in house - only then you could have such distinct yet homely flavour. Right from the masalas to chutneys to ghee everything.
The key items that I loved the most was - Garma garam Bhakri, Dahi Wade, khichdi-kadi-ghee and gulab jamun.
I am not a Gulab jamun fan, but this one was just yummy.
Thank you Mr.Dhavlikar ... I will definitely visit again when ever @ Pune
I am core mutton lover. But still i tried Janaseva for the Love of Sweets
Good Things :
1. No frilly service. Simplicity is a everything.
2. Complete Food "पुर्णान्न". Thali covers everything.
3. Everything is hot and freshly made
4. Tastes are balanced. Not too spicy not too sweet.
5. Full of taste.
6. Clean.
8. Quick Services *** (sometimes they goof up badly)
9. Almost everything is served unlimited so that justify the cost.
Bad thing :
1. As i mentioned, Sometimes you have to wait for very long for an Item to be served.
2. I personally dont like the artificial plants alongside of the wall. they need to clean them. Very dusty
Over all : I will keep visiting the place whenever i feel like eating Veg thali.
Loved it 😍😍
Best taste & service! Must visit in pune. Authentic Maharashtrian taste. Feels like homemade food and reminds of traditional Indian food. Service is quick.
When you are in Deccan ,it's must go to place for lunch.Visiting this place from last 7 years and never regreted . Nice maharashtrian food. Prices are reasonable.
I had a traditional Maharashtrian Thali for the first time. And it was amazing! Authentic spice and flavours courteously served in a traditional way. Just loved the experience. With Yash Bhavsar
We were in Pune in the Diwali holidays and landed at Janseva Bhojanalaya in search for authentic Marathi Thali. The experience was fairly satisfactory with ‘home-made’ food offered in a simple No frills restaurant. The starters were of decent variety and there was good sampling of vegetables and curries. Finally, there were sweets and Jalebi to end the meal. We were charged for special thali (Sunday Special) and from overall value perspective – food quality, variety and restaurant facility were not of very high standards and price seemed to be on the higher side.
It's an iconic joint for pure maharastrian veg thali.. located on the jucntion of JM road and fc road , it's well known among old community of Pune.. I have visited them numerous times and every time I discover new maharastrian delicacies.. I recently went during Ganapati festival and felt take a treat.. though food are simple but delectable .. this time small ALU paratha, corn pulavs, gulab jamun and Basundi were some dishes and taste to remember.. I am big fan of their anjeer rabri and rasmalai which you need to order separately and available only on selected days.. their Baran bhat with ghee is just like you get in any Maharastrian home.. I love it and highly recommend if you are looking forward to get some home type maharastrian treats.. it has very simple yet clean and no frill ambience..
Superb place serving some great, authentic Maharashtrian food. Not too crowded either, we easily got a table despite visiting on a Sunday afternoon during Shravan , so it's already better than half the thali places in the city area ! Great value for money restaurant
This is the only place where I eat brinjal. Unlimited tasty homelike food at a very reasonable price. What more could anyone expect. Brilliant sabjis and dals. One of the best thali places in Pune for sure!
Must visit on Sundays for lunch to relish some authentic puneri veg food. Very good preparation. Awesomely awesome sweets served on Sunday noon and that too unlimited!
Aamras offered here is leaps ahead of what's offered at other Thali serving restaurants like Sukanta Rajdhani, Panchvati Gurav or Durvankur.
Only Maharashtrian vegetarian is served. Downside for few could be the sweetness which is found in everything served here, be it vegetable or soup or salad or raita.
Value for money. Enjoyed every item. I visit Janseva whenever I get a chance and I find the chance many times. Food quality - 5.0Service - 4.5Ambiance - 4.0
The food is homely ,light and lovely. The ambience is simple and comfortable. Service is also good. Slight changes in thali menu everyday makes it an interesting experience. Do go there for a good taste of authentic maharashtrian food.
Authentic Maharashtra thali. It's unlimited thali with limited sweet. It's worth for money. They have really good taste. Service is also good.
Pros. No nonsense pure and authentic maharashtrain food with good service you don't have to wait for refill of food, chappati or thalipet
Cons. The food was a bit too sweet for my taste
But definitely worth going to for a second time
The thali here is one of the few remnants of the pure puneri marathi culture. The taste never disappoints and compared to the price it is a real treat. Could do with a few bigger hoardings and improving the ambience but no complaints.
Thali makes nostalgic.
Yeah. This is a place where you can enjoy typical Maharashtrian Thali with vividhbharati radio program or old songs.
A good cooked food like bhakari, bharli vangi, birdyachi usal, surali vadi, curd, mirchamrut, etc on the menu.
If you want to enjoy puneri thali visit the place. Not much crowded.
Many famous people have visited this place. Still visit to remind their memories.
Don't forget to get your vida (paan) from counter before leaving.
Amazing food. Best thali in town. The food is simple, home style food, especially someone who is living alone in this city. Must visit/try as you can take away too....
First things first! The taste is awesome! You won't complain about the food! Waiting time was more, about 45 min, but the wait was worth! Trust me, If you are looking for a best thali, this is it! Just go for it!
Kudos to the service and management at Janseva bhojanalay!
Wide variety of food in thali! All food was delicious. Loved aluchi bhaji and kakdichi koshimbir. The table had to be shared which should not ideally happen if we are paying inr 300.
Heard a lot about this place. Food is authentic maharashtrian and fresh. All items taste good i including snacks .. overall satisfactory experience.
Had been to this place on 5-Aug-2016. Was hungry and just happened to find it. Its on first floor. A simple place but served good food. The thali is Marathi one. It had 2 gravy based sabzi and one dry(peeth perun). Had option of chappati and bhakri. Curds sweet, salad combined with rice/khichdi along with generous helpings of kadhi and daal.
The food is not spicy and very much like home made stuff. The service is very efficient and staff courteous.
Had a great experience and look to going there again.
Delicious unlimited maharashtrian thali at affordable price. It is a nice and clean place to eat. The food tastes authentic home made marathi food. The service is quick.
My first experience at a typical Marathi Thali (Puneri as suggested by some) and even though there were plenty of restaurants serving similar kind of food in Pune, this one was economical and nearby to the place where i stayed.
The restaurant is a little difficult to find and the entrance to the place was not very pleasing. Once entered, the place is reasonably well maintained. This restaurant serves only thali and i would simply say it was delicious as i dont quite remember the names of the dishes served. However, to my disappointment, i was not served the dahi vada, for which they are famous for. Apart from that, the service was really quick like any other thali joint, very economically priced and the taste is really good.
I left pune 9 yrs back and after that i realized how tough and RARE it is just to get a good , pocket friendly, marathi ( and by that obviously I mean Puneri! ) meal at any given time.
This is a simple place where you dont expect anything. You might even have doubts before you order.
But shake away all those so called ambiance things and indulge into unlimited, simple yet mouth watering homely meal.
Especially for those who are away from home..
This place was on my list since long.. I had heard a lot about this place.. I went there sun noon and it was too full.. Ppl were waiting for their turn... I had to wait for decent 15 mins but it Was worth it... The thali was yum.
Amras jalebi panchamrut batata rassa bhaji kurdai
Let's not talk about ambience... Its just plain n no show place...
The hype is very real, folks! Janseva Bhojanalaya is a straightforward Marathi thali place with no frills and no pretensions about itself. The food is as Puneri as it can get, and is made well in what appear to be very clean surroundings. The service is incredibly efficient, the cost is a steal for the sheer amount of food you get, and the taste, well why say more—just go and experience it for yourself. I went there at dinner time in the summer, which was probably a dumb idea given how full I was before I even got through the bhakari. I think it would be a place for a monsoon or winter lunch. I certainly intend to go there again very soon (the rains are right around the corner) and I recommend it with two thumbs up.
I visited place twice , its renovated , nice and clean , authentic home made taste , without artificial colors and spices , Service is fast and quick , little overpriced
Out of all restaurents that serve Maharashtriyan food, Jansewa Bhojanalay is my favourite. A simple non a.c. clean place that serves typical maharashtriyan menu.
Thali comprizes of Sooft fulakas, puris, accompanied by 2 gravy and 1 dry sabji, starter items like bhajjis, khandavi, dhokala, matar karanji, sweet, taak(buttermilk), salads ,papadssadha bhaat-waran, masale bhat on weekends .
They serve this aluchi patal bhaji many times, which is definately same as it is made in our households. They will always serve panchamrut (a tangy and sweet side dish made from dry coconut, peanuts, seasme). This panchamrut reminds me of weddings attended when there used to be Pangat system. And none other places serve this panchamrut. Different pachadis (salad with tempering), koshimbirs, salads making dish healthier and testier. And each time we get different variety of these salads (We got rayta made of pumpkin once, and was simple , authentic, and delicious and off-course healthy). We are very happy if they are serving jalebi and mathha. After lunch or dinner, we get paan too.
On weekends and on festive days, they have special menus (days like ganesh chaturthi, diwali, dassera.
I visit this place atleast once in three months. And get feeling of eating in one of our old typical marriages :).
Today had an opportunity to visit Janseva Bhojanalaya on Deccan gymkhana on the occasion of Maharashtra day. Great tasting and authentic "satvik" maharashtrian food. Moreover unlimited alphonso mango raas. Everything was served hot out of the kitchen.
I tried a maharashtrian thali for the first time and it was worth every penny.

"Utkrushta gharguti jevan mhanje Janseva Bhojanalay".
In true sense it explores traditional Maharashtrian food that we even hardly make at home like Panchamrut and yet it makes you feel homely.
The restaurant that makes Pune proud.
Love you Janseva Bhojanalay.
This place Located on JM road. Good for maharastrian thali it's simply awsome. Good service. Neat and clean restaurant. Ample sitting place. Parking is an issue. Worth to try for thali lovers.

I love going to old places and had to go here. Tucked just off the sambhaji bridge, you might have to ask few few to find it out. To my surprise, it did not have any typical 'Puneri Pati' to suggest some rules.
As soon as we sat, they started filling the thali quickly like any other thali place. Dahi wada was the first thing I tasted and it reassured why so many rated it highly. The wada was extremely soft and unlike other places, even the inside dough was moist and you can taste dahi. Teh tomato saar was more like a tomato soup with peanuts. I asked for it almost 5-6 times. Thalipeeth was small in shape but perfectly made in taste. All of the bhaji and daal was made really well. Nothing was having too many spices and they were optimum. It really felt like homely food. I will rate this best thali in Pune considering the places I tried - Sukanta, Mayur, Panchavati, Rajdhani, Durvankur, Ramdev thal.
Service was on the mark and fast. The place has basic necessary cleanliness. It was almost full and still they were managing everything at ease.
Real Maharashtrian Thali. Simply delicious and authentic food.

Janseva Bhojanalaya(means Catering to the food needs of the masses! ) is one of the oldest thali joints in Pune serving the humble Maharashtrian cuisine in its glory! :) A visit to the place was long pending and finally got to visit it on the best day of the week(since they have a special menu on Sundays it seems! ) Initially, car parking was an issue back here and we went in circles searching for the place but luckily, some intuitive thinking and hunger pangs together helped us locate the place finally! :D There was a short waiting period but once we accompanied our seats, the delicacies came by in a jiffy!
Food-The Thali comprised of 3 gravies(remembering their names was a tad too difficult! And they were fairly good! ),piping hot chapatis and puris(amazing!),potato bhaajee for the chapati/puri(good!),buttermilk/mattha(amazing!),dhoklas and wadis(great! ),khinchiyas and papads(good!),dal and rice laden with ghee(amazing again!!!),pulao(good!),koshambir(salad-good!),pancharatan kadhi(good!),and the sweets were unlimited servings of jalebis and fruit custard, both of which were equally amazing! :) The only con or turn off was certain dishes were a tad too sweet for my palate!
Ambiance and Service-I never expect an amazing ambiance at places like these and my assumption was fairly correct! The place has a simplistic affair with tables and chairs to accomodate sizes ranging from 2 to an entire family of 10-12 people! The service was quick and the serving guys had a smile on their face and pestered us to have more of their delicacies! :)
Overall,JB stands up to the accolades and patrons it has earned over all the years!Truly an amazing place if you don't care about your diet plans going for a toss!Kindly note the place is pretty crowded so you might encounter a waiting period back here! :)
P.S.-They have a plate of pan and mukhwaas(mouth freshner) at the main counter,do not forget to taste them! And the thali rates are 190-200 bucks during the weekdays and surges to 300 bucks during Sundays! :)
I absolutely loved Janseva Bhojanalay's food - it is neither spicy nor sweet and it is perfectly tasty Maharashtrian food with lots of vegetable options and a sweet. I seldom enjoy stuffed brinjal/eggplant curry, but to my surprise I really loved the one they served here. I also liked their dry sabjis and aamti/आमटी (Maharastrian dal with tamarind juice) as well as Dahi Wada/Dahi Bhalla. The best part of the lunch was the hot & soft chapatis/polis that they served promptly whenever I asked. The sweet Gulabjam was quite decent as well.
This is definitely a very good option in Deccan area if you are looking for healthy, complete Maharashtrian meal. The service is quick, but not very warm or polite. Ambiance is of a typical dining hall - nothing great about it, but at times all you need is your perfect square meal, just the way you'd get it at home! At ₹ 190 for an unlimited dish, this is a pretty good option.
A terrific veg thali at Rs 190 with unlimited number of helpings. One of the best veg food ever you can get in Deccan Gymkhana area. The chapatis were soft and tender. The curry , bhajis were tasty and simple. Rice and dal was so relishing. The best were the sukha puris they serve. Neat and clean place for eating.
Ambiance : 4/5; Food : 4.5/5; Quality :4/5
Simple home-style Maharashtrian food! Loved the taste here. Totally recommend to anyone visiting Pune and wants to go local on taste, enjoy a wholesome thali & easier on budget.
Too bad the kharwas (desert) was not available when I visited.
I used to visit this place WAY BACK in 1991-1992 when I was in Pune working in Telco, Pimpri. Even now, I remember the excellent quality of food, unlimited and the price was so good... I wish I can visit the place again; unfortunately, do not live in Pune anymore. Best food! As a bachelor then, this was beyond heaven.
Good place to have Marathi Jevan. Bhjiyaa, koshimbir is good. :) must go place in pune. Variety of good healthy food. I love Khichadi in Janaseva
Fantastic food. All the items were very extremely tasty. Three outstanding vegetables. The kadhi was perfect. So was the amti. Couldnt stop eating the chapatis and bhakri. The side dish was crunchy and yummy. Unfortunatley that didnt leave much room for the mouth watering khichadi which i just had a taste of. Disappointed that I couldn't have their delicious basundi though. They seem to keep limited sweets on weekdays which are paid for separately. Some big party had finished off the basundi. Next time! :-)
I have grown up with this place - literally!
Simple home made food, served with love. Poli, bhaji, waran-bhat, chutney, koshimbir, taak, loncha and optional dessert.
That's like how granny used to make it!
Delicious food, that makes you nostalgic every time.
Their authentic fanas bhaaji is unbeatable for sure!
Great Food ! Tasted and served like home.
Compared to others theirs is a bit lighter and homely. The staff is good and service is good but not great like sukanta. The place does justice to the hype.
The rotis are amazing ! Laden with ghee and soft like velvet. For Chilli Scared people its a welcome place. Food is more gujju and sweet.
The place has a timing so, please call and go !
One of the old restaurant from pune,Best authentic maharashtrian thali, one of my favourite places, fast service and not so costly.Sundays feast is awesome.
Janseva clearly stands out for maharashtrian veg thalis. No frills food. Such an underrated place. They serve 2 bhaji with dal, dahi curry and a sweet dish. Distinct and brilliant taste. The chapatis are soft and fresh always. The food never disappoints. Light on wallet too.
Food quality is very good and service is also very good. Absolute VFM..value for money. A better option for thali in area like Deccan, FC road.
I have tried almost all the popular Thali restaurant in Pune. Janseva is my favorite one. I liked this restaurant because of cost effectiveness and variety of food which they serve you.
Must try authentic Maharashtrian thali.
The food is simple. The taste is delicious. The post-meal feeling is full satisfaction. Pushing away all the decorated dishes of every other cuisine, this place serves a simple Pune-style full meal thali that will leave you come here again and again. If you have been to Asha Dining Hall, you will know what to expect here too but this place has a slight upper edge with some additional thali items on the menu. The menu changes daily but you will find at least one item of your liking in the vegetables served here, if not all. And you cannot deny the universally famous Varan Bhaat and Amti Bhaat from Pune. That is the USP of such places. The place is clean. Service is prompt. Just ask for what u need and it will be served on your thali in no time. One sweet item is included in the price. Janseva is located on the first floor in the building adjacent to the famous Chitale Bandhu Mithaiwale on Deccan Gymkhana. Stairs to the place are from the back of the building.
The greatness of some things lie in their simplicity and so is the case with Janseva.
Good for health Good for pocket....
Khichdi is outstanding . Its actually a ghar ka khana. Whenever im at home during my week offs i do visit this place its near by my house.
Last week was tired of having Udipi food on FC road and Asha. A junior suggested Janseva to me and I thought of giving it a go. It was raining and I was pretty hungry - the food better be good!
The place wasn't easy to spot. The ambience was that of a typical mess kind of a seating.
The thali was served and it tasted really good. The chapatis were perfectly sized, the sabzis tasted great and flavourful. The best dish was the khichdi; it was out of the world!

I have written this review while tasting food here at Janseva Bhojanalaya.
For the sweet dish lovers - The Jalebi which is included in the maharashtrian thali is crazy, crazy good! Crispy, delicious and hence irresistible.
Alu chi bhaji (colocasia leaves curry) from the thali is perfect. Dhokla is delicious. The buttermilk could have been served chilled, but it was delicious too.
Overall, no food items in the thali had excess oil visible in them, which gave a very homely feel to the thali.
5/5 for sure! I would expect a thali place to be no better than this one. :)
Authentic Maharashtra food.. Simple place @deccan gymkhana.. No comparison to any other place serving thali as one will love here typical Marathi food & taste..
One of the best place for a sumptuous and luxury maharashtrian meal. I have been eating here for about 5 years now and and I have noticed many NRIs coming here during their visit to Pune which clearly means it is all time favorite and is missed abroad.
They serve food in a BIGG thaali for about 200-260 bucks [depends on the desserts]. The food served here tastes homely. Apart from the regular meal items like rice, dal [sadha varan with over flowing toop], aaluchi pattal bhaaji
The best part is, everything they serve is unlimited, few desserts are exceptions. My personal favorite is Anjeer Basundi [Sweetened dense milk with figs].
The variety of snacks [appetizers] are also exciting. It includes samosa, the dhokla, surali vadi, matar karanji etc.
This will always be on my list of top-10 lunch places in Pune.
When in pune you will not have problem if ding authentic maharashtrian food. This is another such joint. Much cheaper than its competitors. Place is clean well ventilated. One must visit this place specifically on sankashti chaturthi for ukadiche modak.

Situated in the heart of the city this place is a must visit for thali lovers. The sitting is average but the food and taste make up for it for sure. Authentic Maharashtrian thali with a homely taste and an affordable price is the USP of this place and will make you go there again and again. Sundays have a special menu which wont disappoint you at all. Service is very good, with the owner coming over and asking what you would want to be served next.

Easily the best place for authentic maharashtrian food, especially the vegetarian brahamani style.
Also liked the way they combine chapattis and vegetables with sweets as well as farsan items like samosas in one thali.
Their aluchi patal bhaji is awesome.
Visiting this place since around 15 years when it used to a khanawal and lunch was 25 rupees. Has improved over the years and renovated somewhere 10 years ago.
has a homely taste.
Janseva, an Authentic maharashtrian thali restaurant. Serves best maharashtrian food alongwith few gujrati or rajasthani dishes.
The best part of the restaurant is if you are visiting here for lunch then you will get a heavenly feeling once you had garma garam Dal-Rice along with Pure ghee in summer. :)
Also, recommended and must have dish is Ukdiche Modak which you can get on Sankashti. :D
Unlimited delicious home-like food with excellent service at an affordable price!
I was very delighted to have dinner at Janseva. The uncle who served the food was very friendly and made me feel at home. It's been over 3.5 years since I ate at Janseva, I still remember and crave for the delicious Maharashtrian food there...
A must visit restaurant for a Maharashtrian residing in Pune away from home :)
IMO the best Maharashtrian thali in Pune (and there are many competitors including Shreyas, etc.). I have been eating here on and off for more than 25 years and I can attest to it that the food quality has remained the same (or dare I say, improved?) over the years.
Great place to have a filling, home style meal (lunch or dinner). Though the place does not look very upmarket, it is clean and the food is well cooked (non oily, non spicy) and served hot (especially the phulkas).
Whenever I crave a home style meal (outside of home), I invariably head here. The price has gone up over the years, however in my view, the price per thali (200 on a weekday) is well justified. Overeating is an occupational hazard here!
Though not particularly known for sweets, they do a good job, including the humble doodhi halwa.
One of the best marathi (brahmani) Pune style thali.... There were many food items like stuff gulabjamun, patti samosa, panchamrut, Kurdaya papad, koshimbir, diff chhunda type chutney, aluchi patal bhaji, katachi aamti, batata bhaji, masale Bhat , garama garam phulke, thepale, dahi vada, matar usal, and best of all superb puranpoli .. All food items were excellent ... No scope to cut even single point... At last marathi vida ... Best job done by Cook and serving crew...
Nice place to have Authentic maharashtrian thali. One of the oldest place in pune n very well know n much liked for thali lovers.
They serve unlimited thali for 180-200 on week days on Sundays it's 260/- with limited (serving) sweets.
It is also famous for its Shrikhand for very long time.
They serve 2 namkeen 2 Subjis n one dry subji with dal or Aamti, raita, pickle, chutney with namkeen, papad, phulki, at times they serve mini Bhakri or mini thepla, it all depends on which day you go to have the food.
Sunday being a special menu, they serve puranpoli(unlimited) with ghee on it, dahi Wada, gulab jamun, masala Bhaat n aaloochi paatal bhaji.....
Due to space constrain its very natural you well have to wait for your turn.... No advance booking or reservation is taken.
They also do the outdoor catering in the name of Mehfil Caterers.
It's just located behind Chitale Bandhu Mithaiwale Deccan.
Overall...,
Food: really authentic
Service : really quick
Staff: really good n prompt
Ambience : small place but well managed
Value for money: really worth spending.
I have been visiting this place occasionally since 2005. While around Deccan area if I need a quick, safe, healthy option - I visit here. Good part is, I could visit here alone as well while in bachelor mode :)
Food is typical Maharashtrian with good taste. There are some unique items and you would have to acquire their taste if you have not tasted Puneri food in particular :)
I have tried their special feast of 'Puran-Poli' on Holi or other festival and it was simply mind-blowing! Moong-halwa is also a treat here!
I am typically fond of masala rice/pulao/khichdi but the plain rice and plain dal here is also good.
I would recommend getting Chapati here which is really a 'Fulka'. Bhakri here is not that great.
Its our all time favorite now :)
yummy food.....u miss out on nothing whenu are here....filling and delicious...always the best
Just maharashtrian thali. Good simple food served in typical 'dining hall' style. Most importantly the quality and taste of the food was really good. The place was airy, clean and fresh. Service could have been little better! The thali is unlimited; served fulkas, thalipeeth, 3 vegetables, amti, kadhi, dahi-vada, koshimbir, papad, chatani and pickle. It also included one limited sweet: kheer.
Undoubtedly it's nice value for money... 180 for adult and 80 for kid.
Would certainly prefer this place again.
When I had landed in Pune way back in 2005 for the first time, this was the place I had my 1st meal in Pune. What I distinctly remember is the beetroot salad with curd, the taste was very unique and very unlike any beetroot salad I have eaten till date.
This is one of the many thali joints in Pune which serve good, non-greasy and tasty food for a decent price. Its a very simple restaurant, with no-frills and simple table bench sitting arrangement.
Though the menu keeps changing daily as is the norm with all thali joints, some of the items here are a speciality, moong dal halwa, aam ras during the mango season and beet root salad [for me]. Except the sweet dish, all other items on the menu are unlimited. On Sundays, for a special price even the sweet dish is unlimited.
During my recent visit to Pune last week, I happened to have lunch here and luckily got to savour the beetroot salad.
A must-visit place!
It is expensive but a good thali. As a Sunday special thali they served two sweets, two snacks besides regular Marathi full meal.
This is one of few thali restaurants that served the old Aalu Bhaji (colocasia leaves) traditional sweet sour flavour . This balance is difficult to achieve for many restaurants. Meal had variety of sabjis and all had a good taste. Quality was good.
Service was prompt and they also tip the meals with Paan in the end in the same charges.
Our Bengali friends liked all the preparations. Quantity was unlimited. There is Mehfil bar and restaurant in the same building.
Great place for a healthy and tasty Maharashtrian food. Thoroughly enjoyed. It was difficult to find Parking but that was the only downside. We went there for lunch on my brother's recommendation. We came from the other end of the city to this restaurant and it did not disappoint.
Service was great. Hosts were polite and friendly. I am eager to visit again.
I have been visiting Janseva since yr 2000 and i have been a fan of this place since then . The food is amazing and of great quality and taste The only issue is that it is crowded on weekends so the waiting time is considerable. The pricing is absolutely reasonable compared to other places in the city. Must visit once if you like Maharashtrian Thalis
Maharashtrian thali offered here for Rs. 410
Taste is good but when compared with Sukanta thali, later is great.
located at the near the Dharmveer Sambhaji Maharaj statue, Deccan.
Parking on internal road is available
Overall good experience.
Best thali restaurant at Deccan. Service and food quality is best. Menu had lots of variety. Sweet dish is delicious.
Have been here umpteen number of times and they have never disappointed me! Simple, flavourful and a delicious good quality wholesome meal is what you can expect here. The food is always served fresh and hot. This place is usually busy during festivals and the wait time can be as long as 40-50mins but it’s all worth it!
Traditional maharashtrian / Puneri unlimited thali, pure veg, mild-saatvik and flavorful. Been eating here for last 16 years and they have maintained their high quality standards. Fast and professional service. Clean basic ambience. Central convenient location. They have a set thali menu everyday and on Sunday they have a special menu.
Authentic and satvik Maharashtrian food in pune ! if you want to eat pure vegetarian , homely and delicious food then don't forget to visit this restaurant. This restaurant has fixed menu thali method where daily different vegetables are cooked & served and you get awesome maharashtrian food. This restaurant is located in a busy place like Deccan gymkhana where You will definitely face a little problem with car parking but two wheeler parking is available in abundance. The specialty of the restaurant is they serve hot and unlimited food with their veg thali & hygiene part taken care of very well here. You get such a perfect diet with few snacks, sweet dish , 4-5 veggies , 2 types of rice and dal with pure ghee and super hot
